Remind Wriothesley to never drink with strangers again.

The moment he opened his eyes, white walls and far too many windows practically assulted him, something that normally would have just made him turn back over and sleep off the hangover. But it was the next morning, and work waited for no one.

Grumbling to himself as he slowly sat up, he could practically hear Sigewinne's lecture from there, Wriothesley sat on the bed for a few more moments, bleary, half awake thoughts chasing each other in circles around his head.

...wait, white walls and windows?

Wriothesley lurched forward, stumbling on his feet as his headache flared from sudden movement. He caught himself on the bedframe, steadying his balance before he took a breath. Admittedly he did jolt a bit from the unfamiliar texture of the wood, but he was far more concerned with a few other things.

Like where the fuck he was, and where the hell his shirt went.

Ok, he had to gather his thoughts. Getting himself together took a few more moments then he had hoped, hindered by both the unfamiliar enviroment and the dull throb of his head, but he managed. Wriothesley knew what danger felt like, and nothing about this place was raising major red flags or warning bells.

Probably a kind stranger who took pity on him, thats all.

Scanning through his groggy mind, Wriothesley couldnt find any evidence to say otherwise. The night had been rowdy, he had gotten dragged into a drinking night with some of the Mermonia folk after dropping off a report to the Palais and then..

Nothing. He could vaguly pick out blurred hints of roaming the streets afterward, but nothing that pointed to where he was. Given his current state of dress as well as the fact he wasnt the type to go for a drunk hook up, he could probably rule out that as well.

Though, not totally. It was still in the cards, even if it wasnt somethin he felt like he'd do.

He wasnt exactly sober and able to assess his capacity in that state, after all.

Archons, Im startin to sound like Neuvillette. The thought flitted across his mind, making Wriothesley snort. It spawned the idea of the high and mighty Iudex being drunk off his ass into Wriothesleys mind, something that seemed so farfetched he almost questioned if Neuvillette could actually get drunk.

He was getting off track. This was all proving to be a potential nuisence, so he really should just find his clothes and leave as quietly as he could. No need to stir up trouble in the Court of Fontaine.

Granted, this wasnt the first time something like this had happened. He would have to make mental note of the address and send them a letter of apology later, perhaps some compensation for taking care of him. And he didnt want to overstay his welcome either, though he had to admit, this place was far fancier then he initially expected.

Whoever lives here must be a high-end kind. Hopefully not someone bratty, those types were the most tiring to deal with.

Finding the crumpled fabric of his shirt and shirtvest in a nearby hamper, Wriothesley was quick to discover why it had been discarded.

"..Eugh." Nevermind. Not wearing that outside.

They probably wouldnt mind him borrowing their kitchen sink, right? Bathroom sinks tended to be to small.

Sighing to himself, Wriothesley put the clothes back in the hamper, carrying it out the room. There goes his hopes of leaving this place unnoticed, but whatever. He could deal with that as he got there.

Activity and clambering could be heard as he descended the stairs, surprised to hear someone awake. It had to be early, the sun was barely peaking over the mountains! Who in their right mind would be awake at this hour?

With resignation, Wriothesley followed the sound, sure enough finding the kitchen he so desired. He ran a hand through his hair before stepping into the doorway, sighing.

"Yo, sorry- ..what the fuck."

"Oh, your awake." Turning the heat down and setting the pan aside, Neuvillette brushed off his hands and faced Wriothesley, concern practically radiating off him. "How are you feeling? Did you drink the water I left for you on the bedtable?"

"....Neuvillette." Nothing was quite getting comprehending at the moment, sorry. It took Neuvillette getting closer for Wriothesley to move himself, glancing around the room as everything clicked into place.

Well, mostly everything.

"Yes, Wriothesley? Are you sure your feeling alright? You were in quite a state last night." The Chief Justice stepped forward again, this time reaching forward to press the back of his hand against Wriothesleys cheek. He frowned when the Duke flinched back, but did not pursue, dropping his arm.

"'Quite a state', eh?" Of course, he would end up here. Just his luck to run into Neuvillette while absolutely shitfaced drunk, how annoying. Forcing a chuckle, Wriothesley shifted his hold on the hamper, bringing Neuvillettes attention to it. "Look, Im sorry for the trouble- Ill just clean this and be out of your pretty hair. Where's-"

"Theres no need. If you would like a shirt, you may borrow one of mine, and we can take this to a proper cleaners at a later date." There was no room for argument either, Neuvillette taking the hamper from Wriothesley and placing it aside. His nose wrinkled a bit from the smell, something that Wriothesley didnt miss, but he didnt complain. Instead he actually smiled, tugging Wriothesley further into the kitchen. "Lets get you something to drink to ease your hangover. I was going to prepare some tea later, but you woke up far earlier then I was expecting."

With no room to refuse, Wriothesley found himself being dragged to a quaint window table, overlooking the whole of the Court. The height was a little dizzying, but Wriothesley managed, glancing about the kitchen as Neuvillette returned to the stove.

"Your Vision, shoes, jacket and other articles are in my foyer." Before Wriothesley could even ask, Neuvillette answered, looking back over his shoulder. "You gave me quite a fright when you showed up at my doorstep, so I left everything there when I got you upstairs."

"Wait- 'At your doorstep'?" Pausing at that, Wriothesley looked sideways as Neuvillette brang a teabag and the kettle to him, setting it down on a hotpad before going to grab some cubs.

"Yes, do you not recall?" Something akin to amusement danced among the rays of the rising sun on Neuvillettes face, placing a cup for the both of them before taking a seat himself.

"Archons, no. I don't remember shit if Im being frank." Gratefully, Wriothesely picked up the kettle to prepare his tea, just the way he liked it. "Learning that I showed up at your door is embarressing as is. Spare me the mortifying details, but curiousity is getting the better of me."

"Well, you did ask to sleep with me." Neuvillette took a sip of his drink.

A beat of silence passed.

"...I fucking what." Red flushed Wriothesleys ears, his eyes standing out more starkly against the darkened skin. If his tea had been ready, he would have spat it out in shock.

"In your exact words-"

"Nope, no, I don't want to know." His head fell into his hand, a long-suffering groan escaping him. Actively cursing his drunk self out, Wriothesley couldnt even bring himself to look the Iudex in the eye, dragging his hand down his face.

"You already asked for clarification, do you wish for me to stop?" Neuvillette looked as passive as ever, but Wriothesley could see the amusement in the corners of his eyes. He settled for glaring at the Chief Justice, getting a huff and another sip in return before Neuvillette placed his cup down. "Ill take your silence as a no. I will continue, then."

Neuvillette was used to strange happenings. He wasnt fond of them, but they did occur, and he had learned to live and let live a long time ago.

Hearing a knock, followed by a rough thud against his front door late at night though, it put him on guard. No one had dared to attempt robbing the Chief Justice in Neuvillettes memory, but there was always a first.

With caution, tips glowing a bright blue in preparation for self defense, Neuvillette entered his foyer right as another knock accompanied by a voice echoed in the room.

"Neuvillette? Your Honor, are you home? Its cold-" The words were slurred together, muffled by the door, but nonetheless, Neuvillette recognized it after just a few moments, throwing caution to the wind and opening his door.

Sure enough, standing on his doorstep was the Duke of Meropide, hand in the air as it preparing to knock again. He nearly did to, until he seemed to realise the door was no longer there.

A smile split across Wriothesleys face.

"So ya aree home. An' here I was thinkin ya were still at the Palaiiisss!"

"Your Grace." Trying to be courteous despite the late hour, Neuvillette glanced over Wriothesley to assess if he was ok. There werent any noticable injuries at least. "Your up late. How can I help you tonight?"

"Mmn, jus' got invited out ta drink wit' your overworld folk. Can I come in?" Shuffling his feet, Wriothesley looked.. strangely agitated. It was unusual to see him this physically expressive, something that concerned Neuvillette, so he stepped aside, inviting Wriothesley in without much thought..

..before immediately having to catch the warden as he tripped over his own feet in the doorway.

"Wriothesley!!" Even the late hour couldnt keep the worry from spiking in his heart, steadying the Duke to the best of his ability before he nudged the door shut with his foot. This was not good, Wriothesley was clear not in any state to be upright. How in the Sovereigns names did he make it all the way to Neuvillettes residence without issue?

With a bit of prodding and handiwork, Neuvillette managed to get Wriothesley onto a couch. Taking his coat and accessories off to ease his burden was rather easy, Neuvillette placing his gloves and Vision on the nearby table before taking his shoes and jacket and putting them in their proper place.

The entire time, Wriothesley was mumbling, drunken rants that were either undecipherable or complete nonsense. It wasnt until Neuvillette informed him that he was going to fetch Wriothesley some water that the Duke spoke again, unfocused eyes finding Neuvillette in the dim light.

"No."

"No? Wriothesley, do not be unreasonable, the water will help you to regain-"

"No. I dont need to be sober, I came here to ask you a question."

For a moment, Wriothesley looked startlingly clearheaded, gaze narrowing in on Neuvillette with intent. It was all the Iudex could do to watch the Duke get up with minor difficulty and stop directly in front of him, eye to eye.

"I want to fuck. With you."

"..Excuse me?"

Over the years, Neuvillette had heard of people being infatuated with him, sometimes even hearing or recieved confessions via letter or word of mouth. Whether romantic or sexual, it wasnt like Neuvillette was completely inexperienced with dealing with either.

But he had never been asked quite so bluntly.

"Ya heard me. I wanna fuck with you. Sleep with you. Whatever you call it." Wriothesley took Neuvillettes hand in his own two, lifting it up between them. "Cmon, I know ya like me, and I think I like ya, so lets just do it."

"Wriothesley, you are drunk. I hardly think you know what your asking for." To his credit, Neuvillette did find this mildly amusing. Wriothesley was a dear companion of Neuvillettes, afterall, and neither had been exactly subtle in harboring their attraction toward the other. To hear Wriothesley himself even confirm there was something between them was greatly appreciated, but he was careful not to show any of that, gently removing his hand from Wriothesleys grasp. "Im afraid Ill have to say no."

He would prefer to hear it from a sober Wriothesleys lips instead.

Wriothesley, on the other hand, seemed to hard disagree.

Practically wilting on the spot, Wriothesley hoisted what could best be described as a pout onto his face, dropping his hands as he turned away from Neuvillette. The Iudex was admittedly surprised by this, reaching out to put a hand on Wriothesleys shoulder.

"Wriothesley-"

"So ya dont like me." Neuvillette paused as Wriothesley looked over his shoulder, shocked by the look of pure hurt on the Dukes face. Oh, no, this was not what he had meant.

"No, you misunderstand. I enjoy your company, Wriothesley, I do." Sighing, Neuvillette couldnt keep the fond, small smile off his face.

"But you won't sleep with me."

"These are two seperate matters, Wriothesley, and you are drunk."

"So you'd sleep with me if I was sober?"

"Well, no-"

"So you don't like me."

Another sigh escaped Neuvillette, the man finally rounding around to face the Duke head on. "Wriothesley, you are acting like a child. You know very well why I wouldnt sleep with you immediately, and especially not if your drunk."

And still, Wriothesley avoided his gaze, pointedly looking in a different direction. It wasnt until Neuvillette noticed the start of tears gathering in Wriothesleys eyes that realization hit him.

This was genuinely how Wriothesley felt, deep down, brought out by alcohol and likely a drop of self loathing buried deep.

Unsurity snagged Neuvillette in its grasp, that taunting feeling of being far out of his jurisdiction coming in full force. He didnt know how to express himself fully, much less help another with their own emotions, but he had to try. Thinking about Wriothesley crying because of him, well.. he quite hated the idea.

"My dear Wriothesley, look at me, please." At the gentle plea, Wriothesley finally turned to face Neuvillette. His cheek met a gentle hand, a thumb brushing the beginnings of a tear aside.

"I am not rejecting your feelings, Wriothesley. Do not mistake that." Wriothesley leaned into Neuvillettes touch as he spoke, listening with rapt attention. "I simply- oh!"

Arms wrapped around Neuvillettes waist, Wriothesley tugging the man forward to put his face in the Iudex's shoulder.

"So.. ya do like me." The words were incredibly muffled, but Neuvillette heard them nonetheless, a fond huff escaping him. He reached down, returning the embrace with a warm smile.

"Yes, I suppose I do."

"You then proceeded to pass out on me, so I had to assist you in getting to my bedroom before you ended up making a mess of yourself and getting yourself comfortable in the bed."

Wriothesley dropped his head into his hands, groaning out of sheer embarressment as the tale was recounted to him, bits and pieces coming back to him. Practically downing his tea in one go, all Wriothesley could feel was the red raging through his face and neck, flustered in every sense of the word.

"Look, Your Honor-"

"We are alone, Wriothesley, no need for honorifics."

"Seriously- Ok, look, Neuvillette, we can just forget this whole thing-"

Neuvillettes teacup clinked as it was set down again, interrupting Wriothesley.

"Why should we? We're both aware of our mutual attraction."

"Well-" Wriothesley paused, an incredulous look on his face as he finally looked up at Neuvillette. "..What?"

"Were you not listening to my testimony? I did state the attraction was mutual, did I not?" Folding his hands in his lap, Neuvillette pinned Wriothesley with a hard stare, raising a brow. "Unless, in your own words, you 'don't like me back."

Wriothesley broke their stare down after just a few moments, hints of laughter shaking his head as Neuvillette took another drink.

"Your a right bastard sometimes, Neuvillette."

"How do you plead, then?" He only peered at the Duke over the rim of his cup, a knowing look on his face.

"Im gonna say guilty."

I'm probably never gonna write this but there's a fic idea that hasn't been leaving me aLONE

So imagine Wriothesley wakes up hungover at a place he doesn't recognize. This has happened before, he's gone home with people he didn't know and didn't remember the next day, yada yada yada. So he starts going around the room, trying to figure out wtf happened last night, checking every corner for any detail and he concludes he's at a random girl's place again. He goes down in the kitchen and boom - Neuvillette. Wrio is confused as shit obv. THEN Neuvillette starts telling him about what happened.

Basically, drunk Wrio knocked on Neuvillette's door at an ungodly hour, tried to get some, got none, cried about his life for a bit and then passed out drunk. Wrio is embarrassed af and Neuvillette is just rlly concerned for his well-being

Now one of the main reasons I won't write this is because idk how to end it

“No, no, no! What exactly do you think we're doing? This is a theater production, not some low budget high school play!”

Lucero had been ruthless since the very start of the production for one of his many, many eclectic compositions; but that wasn't exactly new to the student body, especially those who were part of Pomefiore.

Vil had entrusted Lucero into taking the leadership role while production was still in the works— and while that guaranteed its success, it also had… consequences.

Preparations for opening night were all well and good, for the most part. Budgeting was never going to be much of a problem, if at all, and the set and costume designs were — in Rook's words — ‘second to none’.

The real problem, in the honorable opinions of many working on the stage play, was apparently Lucero himself.

The man didn't want perfection, he demanded it. No stone would be left unturned, and everything had to be in tip top shape; anything that wasn't made with the best materials, or of the highest quality would have to be replaced with something of better quality.

And that… wasn't even going into Lucero’s alleged ‘favoritism’.

Speaking of favoritism, Lucero looked off to the side for only a single moment, and behind his mask his eyes widened slightly. Then narrowed.

He strode, those crowding his path parting like magic. “Elaine,” he called out to the glasses-wearing spectacle holding far too many boxes than she should be capable of carrying.

“Oh- Lucero!” Elaine gleamed at him, her smile enigmatic. Contagious. “Do you need help with anything?”

Lucero ignored her question and followed up with one of his own. “What… exactly are you doing?�� He questioned, vaguely gesturing to the stack of boxes in her hands.

Elaine beamed at him enthusiastically. “Well! As much as I like the chandelier the headmage provided for us for our production venue, I thought it was a little lackluster for the vision you had in mind, so—”

“No, no, Elaine,” Lucero cut her off, a hand on her shoulder to signal her to put down the boxes. “That isn't what I meant, dear.”

Puzzled, Elaine tilted her head slightly to the side. “Huh? What do you mean?”

With a huff, Lucero stated, “Elaine, dear, you're our lead actress. Our prima donna.”

“And I'm very thankful for that, Lucero! It's an honor.”

“Yes, yes, very much so, but—”

“But what?” A worried expression crossed her features. “Have… you found a better candidate?”

The mere thought made Lucero scoff. “Sevens above, no…”

“You, Elaine my dear, needn't concern yourself with matters that are under the responsibilities of everyone else.”

With eyebrows precariously knitted together in a manner Lucero silently believed to be adorable, Elaine asked, “but… why?”

“I’m not trying to bring any offense to you, Lucero, but I'm sure that the other students are in need of assistance because of the size of the production—”

“Having one less student helping them isn't going to kill them, Elaine dear,” Lucero offered his arm out to Elaine. And though she felt unsure of herself, she indulged him, accompanying him through a promenade through the venue.

“I still think it's a bit…”

“Rude? Believe me, my dear, it'd be a shock to them if you did help them.”

“Well, as the ‘prima donna’”— Elaine emphasized her point by putting the words in quotations —“shouldn’t I contribute in setting things up?”

That was a question often brought up by those that were brave — or audacious — enough to question Lucero and the rumored favoritism he had for Elaine.

In Lucero's point of view, he wanted to be honest with himself… Elaine's over-insistence in wanting to help made him want to dissect her and overanalyze everything about her mind.

Should she truly wish to be a star, Lucero fully and truly believed she didn't need to take on all the work she does on a regular basis; for Seven's sake, their first interaction took place when Elaine was in the middle of an errand.

Once again, he wanted to make that point clear to her. Real stars, true stars, made for the stage and captivated the eyes of their audience like it was the most natural thing in the world— they were the ones hoisted up on the pedestal. Not the ones building it.

They left the venue in astounding record time. Sure, Lucero could make out a brief conversation between Coppelia and another student, but that wasn't something he'd concern himself over, anyway.

“Lucero…” the famed producer never liked seeing Elaine frown. For someone as dazzling as her, he often imagined himself giving her reasons to smile brighter than a thousand suns— only to chastise himself for going off kilter in whatever he was supposed to focus on.

This was one of those moments. How he fantasized holding her face in his hands, speaking kind, soulful words that would ease her worries.

His hands, gloved and delicate, were brought to her face. His thumb brushed over her cheek, and he caught himself almost getting lost in her eyes.

He wondered if Elaine noticed, too.

“Lucero?” hearing his name from her lips was like hearing the hymns of the gods of music; a melody, a hallucination, a delusion Lucero would gladly lose himself to if he weren't so… himself.

“They don't matter, Elaine,” said Lucero. They were a few steps away from the venue Crowley provided for them. Anyone could see them.

Elaine kept her breath steady with a face so flushed it made her lose focus of what he actually said. Tried to focus, not on the way Lucero held her so gently, or how close he seemed to; but on the details of his mask.

The two of them both knew that the mask — and why Lucero wore it — was a touchy subject. Elaine never once asked about it, and Lucero was grateful for it.

She loved his mask, but she especially loved making masks for him. Hand painted and designed to suit Lucero to perfection, their initials in the inner parts of it.

When Lucero spoke again, her trance had crumbled apart. “They don't matter, Elaine,” Lucero repeated. “None of them matter. Not to you, not to me.”

“No one else matters. No one but us matters.”

She almost felt inclined to believe him. “I…”

“Elaine.”

“Lucero.”

“You don't need to burden yourself,” Lucero said to her, his voice so soft that if Elaine closed her eyes, she'd be convinced she was talking to someone else. “You do that far too much for your own good.”

He read her expression like the pages of a book he'd been immersed in for too long. But people need helping, he could envision her thinking.

With a gentle breath, Lucero allowed himself to get lost in her eyes. Just this once, he told himself whilst tucking a piece of her disheveled hair behind her ear.

Her head leaned into the touch of his hand. She smiled, but it was only so long until it faltered when she spoke in reply. “... It simply feels wrong to not try and help somehow, Lucero.”

That's the way it is, Lucero thought, to people who've done nothing but give everything they have until they're left with nothing.

I don't want that for you, dearest Elaine.

Barely a word in, Elaine watched Lucero let go of her, his hand at his sides. He pursed his lips, as if he were contemplating on saying something.

Whatever that something was, it went unsaid. And Lucero Symphomia left his prima donna to her own devices.

Naturally, because it was Lucero that was directing the production, there was not doubt that the seats would be filled by those that wished to see the works of the renowned scriptwriter; and possibly catch a glimpse of Lucero Symphomia himself.

It was bustling, and no doubt chaotic. For both keeping the audience in order, and for the crew behind the scenes.

Everything was in Lucero’s favor. That was a good thing, correct?

The lights were set, the curtains eagerly waiting to be lifted; cast and crew alike ripe and ready to perform to the fullest, in costumes no smoother than Egyptian silks.

Everything… was perfect.

The perfectionist had gotten what he wanted, no qualms about it. He had no intention of ever changing that.

But. Wherever was Elaine? The question repeated itself in Lucero's mind like a broken record, his eyes searching through the crowd, the crew, the cast; looking for his prima donna.

The show was set to begin any minute now. With a flick of his wrist, Lucero could start it right now and give the crowd exactly what he wanted.

Yet that wasn't what he was going to do. Elaine was the star, the spectacle, the shining light the crowd would look at in awe— he wanted her with him here, at the center of the spotlight. To live her dream as the star she'd always wanted to be.

He couldn't do that if she weren't at his side, their eyes locked, their hands — one gloved, the other bare — intertwined.

“Lucero—” whichever pointless skiv tried to catch his attention would have to wait, he'd nearly forgotten to check Elaine's dressing room and there seemed to be no doubt in Lucero's body that she was in there the whole time.

It was locked. No surprise there, Lucero told himself. Elaine deserved her privacy as much as anyone did. But time was not on either of their sides, and it was a race against the clock before the audience awaiting them got antsy.

He knocked. Several times. “Elaine, dear…”

She replied in haste, once it registered to her that the one waiting on the other side was merely Lucero. “Lucero?”

“Yes, dear,” he confirmed, “it's me.”

“Might I come in?”

There was a small silence that followed thereafter. So long as Elaine intended on replying, Lucero didn't mind.

And while she didn't reply in the verbal sense, she did end up opening the door for him. The moment Lucero saw her, it was like he couldn't see anything but her.

Unsurprisingly, the costume was a perfect fit. Her makeup is nothing short of perfection. Dare he say, she was comparable to that of a deity of beauty; one whom he'd put his pride aside to worship at her every word and command.

Her hair was another story. Long story short: It was a mess. And judging by the distressed look on her face, it didn't take long for Lucero to understand why.

Elaine was made for the stage. Lucero believed that fact for a mighty long time, and his word holds true even in the present. But every now and again, he would catch the occasional glimpse of her shaking hands tucked behind her back at the start of every performance— right before she truly was in her element.

When nothing could hold her back. Not even the fear of messing up.

Is she always like this before a performance? Lucero didn't know the answer to that question.

Without another word said, Lucero let out a breath. A nervous, distressed damsel of a leading lady would not do. Not in the production he had in mind for her.

He lifted a hand, motioning her to sit back down near her vanity desk. Elaine obliged with a small, barely noticeable nod; albeit with a nervous purse of her lips.

Lucero's hands weaved through her hair. He'd gone over the appearance of the female lead of the production with Elaine enough times to have memorized the technique to perfect the style of her hair.

Elaine hesitated to look into the mirror, thinking that if she did, she would only see reluctance and contempt.

Instead, what she got was… content. Like Lucero wouldn't have minded standing behind her, assisting her in the precarious predicament that was her hair… forever.

It made her eyes soften at the sight. Unfortunately the lingering doubt still haunted her, compelled her enough to say aloud, “... Forgive me.”

“Forgive you?” She didn't even have to take off his mask to know his brows were knitted together. “Whatever for?...”

1. how many works do you have on ao3? 17 on my current account. there's more on my old one and obviously that doesn't count everything i published on other platforms (livejournal, ff.net) in the ancient days, lol

2. what's your total ao3 wordcount? again just on the wolfspider account, 168,153. i cant tell if that feels low or high to me

3. what fandoms do you write for? right now, just wild hrpf. in the past it's been mostly anime and various cartoons.

4. top five fics by kudos: i'm hitting the skip button on this because like. wrt my own work i think it's not a very good metric of EITHER how popular those stories actually were OR the quality of them; they're mostly the TUA ones and im chalking that up to that fandom being Huge when i was active. my most kudos'd fic of all time is still how much was mine to keep, though, and i think that one holds up.

5. do you respond to comments? i try to now. i went through a long phase of not engaging with comments due to Social Anxiety and also being kind of fed up with the hyper-combative culture in the fandoms i was in. like i wanted to just yeet my work out there and be done with it. in hrpf fandom i'm actually interested in the community aspect though so ive been trying to get over myself and respond as best i can.

6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? the brodsfabes time loop fic, hands down. it's weird because as a reader i am um. not very into unhappy endings or unconsummated angst but every once in a while when i'm writing i'll get into a Mood and write something viscerally upsetting. anyway that one was pretty clearly me processing some grief that was happening in my real life, lol.

7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? probably entangled, from my spiderverse days. ngl i kind of hate it now though so let's move on from this. i think most of my fic has happy or at least ambiguously-positive endings, though.

8. do you get hate on fics? only one time ever and it was someone complaining that a ship i tagged for wasn't present in the story after One Chapter so. we're discounting that one. i've been pretty lucky!

9. do you write smut? yeah. my relationship with writing pornography ebbs and flows, like. sometimes i'll be really into it but sometimes i'll just stick a sex scene into a story where i feel like it's the least interesting thing that happens because people expect it and aren't going to read a romance that isn't leading up to that. i'm a horrible pervert and building up to a sex scene is an easy way to give your story a climax (...in multiple senses of the word) though so. why not.

10. craziest crossover: i don't write crossovers but if i did it would be the insane one ive been thinking about lately where the minnesota wild are stuck in the dungeon from dungeon meshi

11. have you ever had a fic stolen? not to a degree that i can prove it but part of the reason i left TUA fandom was somebody, in my opinion, ripped off large chunks of one of my fics and did just enough massaging of the language to make it defensible as Not Plagiarism. ruined the whole experience for me though.

12. have you ever had a fic translated? no, i think that would be one of the highest honors i could receive as a writer though. i wish i knew enough of a second language to translate my own work, but i'm still at like a kindergarten level in japanese so that will. Not happen.

13. have you ever co-written a fic before? tried to once with someone i am no longer friends with, it was a disaster. never gonna do that again. i am just too much of a control freak to relinquish any amount of creative decisionmaking i think.

14. all time favorite ship? don't have one! i tend to like hyperfixate on one ship for anywhere from one month to a year and a half and then when the brain juice runs out im Done and i never want to think about this concept again. im giving check please jackparse a point for being a ship i can read about post-fixation without getting bored but other than that. right now it's 725, in the future, who can say.

15. what's a wip you want to finish but never will? [stares at my overflowing gdocs draft folder. stares at the camera] i do not see it

16. what are your writing strengths? i like my prose, most of the time, and i think i'm pretty good at descriptive writing and like, internal character voice. sometimes i can accidentally stumble into excellent pacing

17. what are your writing weaknesses? INTENTIONALLY good pacing. writing dialogue that sounds like a human said it and not a sitcom character. i'm decent at line-by-line editing but awful at structural editing. recently ive become aware that i tend to subconsciously reuse certain plot beats a lot.

18. thoughts on dialogue in another language? like anything else, there's a way to do this that's fine and interesting and a way to do it that's insultingly terrible and it all depends on intent and execution. like if you're peppering in phrases in a second language just to show off that a character Is Foreign, don't do that. try to do it in a way that's realistic for how people talk. do it purposefully, i suppose

19. first fandom you wrote in? god dude i do NOT remember this was literally 21 years ago but probably either naruto or fullmetal alchemist.

20. favorite fic you've written? probably one of the unpublishable ones tbh. or the time loop one again. honestly i really like all my hrpf work, ive been putting out some bangers lately. it's nice to feel like ive been growing as an ~artist~ or whatever.

I saw your post (s, because I know that this is unfortunately something you`ve had to deal with multiple times) about people asking if IBLBM is discontinued and what not, so I thought I would write from a different perspective.

sorry but this is going to be a bit long, with a little bit of broken English, but I hope this will be okay and that it will be somewhat coherent:))

reading a very good story like, IBLBM, its kinda like when you eat after a long time, without realizing how hungry you are, and then you just devoured everything. it is so good, and there is no good point to stop either. The flow of the story, the little incidents/moments and the major plot points are so amazing, with the writing/language itself being of the highest quality, it is so difficult to stop. people who stumble upon the fic after it is done is going to read it all within days I believe! at least that is how it is for me when I find a top tier fic.

which is why after a chapter ends, all you crave its more, however it has been soooo fucking good having these months long waits in-between chapter!!!!

i dont really read wip especially for longer fic, but I might have to reevaluate after you. I started reading top gun fanfics around Christmas I think, and "what up,..." was one of the first I read and then I immediately just clicked next over to IBLBM, and it was so good that top gun has now been mine main fandom since NYE.

having time between updates made it so that you have to step away from it and then instead of just focusing on the fic as a whole, really put the spotlight on each chapter. and instead of just consuming everything, you have to take your time with it, and that is when you really get to enjoy it.

I have send in an ask before, but im truly in awe of the transition between each chapter, the flow that is good throughout this work is a masterpiece, I actually can't believe that your are writing this as you upload, amazing.

having the the 2-3 months made it so that rather then having a good ass meal when you are hungry, which is also good ngl, its more of an experience, a 10 course FEAST, where the days leading up to it you are just so excited, cause even if you dont know the menu, you just know its about to amazing, where its just like the moment in ratatouille where the rat eats the cheese and strawberry at the same time, a literary symphony ahaha. especially since you kept on FEEDING US WITH THESE 20-30 K WORDS CHAPTERS????!!! absolute mad, also especially since I just can't with these 30k words 30 chapters fic, that just not for me.

it made me really appreciate things I would have missed if I just read it when it was finished, and that I did missed the first time I read it, it has been so good rereading the fic between chapter uploades, after some time, to really get to know the characters through your eyes as well.

I can only imagine how demotivating it is to get request to upload the next chapter as soon as possible, but if it is one thing I have come to realized after keeping up with IBLBM these last months is that you only need to listen to your own gut about uploading of the next chapter, because you really know your shit!!

when it comes to what you have written so far the wait have truly always been worth it and never been too long cause everything you have produced have been of both such quality and quantity that its been a real treat I just can't get enough of.

I really hope that you will continue writing after IBLBM is finished, cause you truly have in my eyes a real talent for this, and if I can continue to read something you have written, a couple of times a year or so, it is truly a dream come true!!! but I also hope you take a much deserved break!

hi! i keep seeing 'ts file' but i'm afraid idk what it means n i'm missing smth important in giffing. what does it mean?

hi!! honestly i am not sure Exactly what ts files are to give you the best explanation, but they're typically the highest quality files you can find, especially for performances and sometimes for shows and such, so they are pretty important!

they're easiest to get here (they used to regularly close registration for it, i don't know if they still do or not), but for skz ones, this acc is good and pretty consistent, and i also get files here sometimes.

ts files that are interlaced (idk what this means i'm ngl) properly need to be deinterlaced, and i do that through vapoursynth, where you need to use the preprocessor options. i usually do 60 fast!

then when you go to vapoursynth, make sure you put a # before the preprocessor setting and the number of frames, then look at the preview, and enter the first and last frames you want of your gif in the (video, # here, # here) part. then take the # out from the beginning of the number of frames and preprocessor setting, and encode the video! doing things this way will keep your vapoursynth from freezing and crashing like crazy and also speed up he encoding process a little.

this is not explained nearly as well as it could be but i write eight hours a day for my job when i finish work my brain is so dead when it comes to explaining things LMAO but hopefully it helps!

Please consider that care has been taken to make Loki more multifaceted in this show, not OOC - he's just got more emotion and character to him now and feels to me and a lot of others, more like a living, breathing person who is struggling in the immediate aftermath of being shown the most traumatic recap of his life. I'm really sorry you're not happy with him, but his emotional core and inner heartbreak is being treated with love and respect by the show.

Ok I literally just talked about that HERE. But let me add a few more points here for your convenience. First of all, Disney+ hasn’t actually been doing that great. In fact Disney’s stock recently fell precisely because Diseny+ has underperformed. It missed growth expectations and none of the shows have attracted that big of an audience. Loki had MASSIVELY more interest than either WandaVision or TFATWS and yet it only drew 890K households for the premier - just barely more than either of those shows got. There haven’t been any numbers released for the episodes after the premier but given how boring and unfunny and uninteresting the premier was, I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of viewers, especially more casual ones, didn’t come back for more.

Incorrect. Trailers get most of their views in the first week, and the vast majority in the first 2 weeks. Indeed, they get the most engagement in the first DAY usually and then it starts slowing. The early trailer that got 18 million views got most of that very quickly and then has grown extremely slowly ever since. The more recent trailers are not tracking to get anywhere near than engagement. Why? Because interest is dropping. Now maybe people just aren’t as interested in the trailers because they’re just happy to watch the actual show now or because they loved the first trailers so much that they decided to watch the show just based on that and didn't want to spoil themselves watching later trailers. Who knows. I certainly have my theories though.

I don’t see any evidence at all of care being put into the show. The writing and storytelling is incredibly sloppy. It gets even the most basic things wrong - like Loki’s speaking style or the fact that he wasn’t young in the 70s or that he speaks the Allspeak not English or his skin tone or hair length or the fact that Jotun!Loki should’ve had ridges on his skin. The head writer and story creator also is openly disdainful of Loki and talks about how he’s a “shithead” and “proper and pompous” and how he needs to be put in a situation where he has to stop “blaming” Odin and Thor for all his problems. He shows no understanding of Loki’s character or care for it. Maybe care was put into the show and they just messed up but I don’t see evidence of that. There’s certainly no way you could know that for a fact unless you are involved in the production in which case you are a biased source who has an ulterior motive for silencing critics of the show.

Also TV!Loki doesn’t feel like a real person to me at all. He feels like a caricature. He doesn’t act like Loki or do or say the things he would or even stand like he would. Look how Loki behaved when being interrogated by Natasha or when being berated by Odin. Loki is someone who puts on a performance as a sword and a shield. TV!Loki is a stupid clown.

No it’s not. It’s being turned into a punchline. Hi, what are your favourite biographies of Lucrezia and Cesare? Sorry if you've answered this before! And I've heard that Juan and Lucrezia were actually pretty close in history too - then, is there really any truth to Cesare and Lucrezia having a unique understanding of each other (that was likely not incestuous, but still very close)?

Hi! I did, but my thoughts have changed a bit since then, so no worries! For Cesare biographies, I think I’ve answered in the past that I didn’t really had any, all the biographies I’ve read about him had their strengths and their faults, and idk, I was never satisfied with any of them entirely, that is, until I was able to read Cesare Borgia: Duca di Romagna by Edoardo Alvisi, I talked (gushed lol) about it here and here, but yeah, it’s such a sober, honest and meticulous biography. I was impressed and inspired by his conduct as an historian, how he actually tried, instead of just saying it, to be as objective as possible, focusing more on the historical evidence about Cesare’s life, with all its complexities, rather than imposing his personal ideas about him to the reader. He was also careful not to claim things he couldn’t prove, he used the much appreciated forse (perhaps) to all the uncertainties surrounding Cesare’s history, and his work has zero inconsistencies. This may sound like basic stuff for a bio, but sadly, it’s a rare thing to find when it comes to anything concerning Cesare Borgia and his family tbh, so reading Alvisi’s work was a different, 100% satisfying experience for me reading Borgia bios, and it quickly became my favorite, the only one so far, and I was also happy to know Cesare has a high quality work about him out there, I had given up hope ever finding one, ngl. For Lucrezia biographies, I don’t have any favorites, I have read the main works about her, and I think that was enough for me, idk why exactly, but Lucrezia’s historical figure tends to attract a certain type of scholar I can’t stand, their approach to her life, their methodology, and writing style really gets on my nerves, so I tend to avoid that section of the Borgia historiography. Sometimes I try to give them a chance, but it’s always the same thing and I give up, we just don’t get along I guess, but who knows? maybe one day. And your second question, well, it’s interesting because if you had asked me this question some time ago, I’d have answered: yes, of course there’s truth to them having a unique understanding of each other, and being very close, that’s how scholars generally present their relationship, for different reasons and to varying extents, Bradford being the highest imo, she goes a bit overboard with their relationship, if you read her fictional account about the Borgias, where she presents Cesare and Lucrezia as having a kind of sad, tormented love, they have incestuous feelings for each other, Cesare is obsessed with Lucrezia, Lucrezia both loves and hates him, and then you read her historical bios, where you have quotes like:  

“As far as Lucrezia was concerned, [Cesare’s] intense love for her was well known”

“Cesare was to be the evil genius of Lucrezia’s life”

“His obsessive love for her led him to murder”

Putting aside her fondness of dramatic, appeling writing, it’s easy to see her strongest bias is where Cesare and Lucrezia are concerned. Her feelings over them are transparent, and it did had an impact to how their relationship was presented in her fiction and non-fiction books imo, and since she was my intro to the historical Borgia family, I used to aligned myself with her interpretation, until I read other works, in particular the works of Sacerdote and Alvisi, which offers a lot of documents and letters of the Borgia family in their entirety. I also started to read more about the period and other noble italian families, all of this forced me to reconsider my previous understandings on the many themes about their lives, and the narratives that goes around it, but specially about the relationship between Cesare and Lucrezia.   So answering this question now, I have to say I don’t think there is truth to that per say, I mean, I think there is a tendency to exaggerate things when it comes to the Borgia family, the traces of the legends written about them along the centuries can almost always be found in their modern biographies, Cesare and Lucrezia are not exception to this. The incest rumor stuck so persistently to their names, (even though it’s completely baseless) it became a legend, and to this day it remains in popular imagination about them, so that it still seems to carry some influence to how modern scholars perceive and present their sibling dynamics, even when they simultaneously show how baseless the whole thing is, with some of them taking it too far, and dramatizing it. What the historical material can confirm beyond doubts is that they were close, yes, but did they really had a unique understanding of each other? were they exceptionally close? to the point of being each other’s exception? as it is often claimed, or at least it’s the general idea put forward by some scholars? (Bradford, Hibbert, Meyer, Chamberlin, even Woodward) that’s way more dubious, and it fails to be supported by the historical documents available about them, it relies only on speculations and historical imagination. In truth, there’s enough material indicating Cesare and Lucrezia were just as close to their other immediate family members as they were with each other. Cesare and Juan, despite the unfounded narrative of them hating each other, actually seemed to have had a normal, brotherly relationship, and they equally show an affection and protectiveness towards Lucrezia. Lucrezia herself seems to have been attached to both of them. I think we need to be careful when comparing these relationships, because it might be easy to conclude Cesare and Lucrezia had a closer, more special bond with each other than they did with Juan, given there’s more material about them, but it can be a flawed reading of it all because it fails to consider the important factor that Juan died in 1497, and they didn’t. Let’s say Cesare had died instead of Juan in 1497, wouldn’t we then, have more material about Juan and Lucrezia? I think we would, and it’s possible history would have settled on the narrative they were the closest siblings, you see what I mean? the amount of material about Cesare and Lucrezia, and the lack of thereof of them with Juan does not necessarily indicates their sibling bond was any different, closer, than their sibling bond with Juan. If we are being honest, it’s an impossible thing to determine. All it can be safely said is that the three of them seem close as siblings, and they had good relationships with each other. Besides the sibling trio, there are indications of a close mother/son relationship between Cesare and Vannozza, and also between Cesare and his cousin, the other Juan. Rodrigo evidently loved his sons, but Lucrezia was his darling, and the one he always spoiled the most. Lucrezia, in turn, adored her father, being very attached to him. All this is to say the closeness, loyalty, and concern over one another wasn’t exclusive to the Cesare/Lucrezia relationship as it is often implied or claimed, it was something they all shared, and it was quite normal within their family, they were a close family in general. And if we go outside their family, you have Gian Paolo and Pantasilea Baglioni, who were so close it inevitably lead to yet another incest rumor, which personally I do not believe it to be true, either. You have Isabella d’Este and her half-brother Giulio, she did everything she could to protect him from her other brother, Alfonso d’Este, when a conspiracy/almost fratricide took place in their family. Giulio was clearly in the wrong there, but did she cared? not a bit lol, she tried to help him in whatever way she could, even giving him asylum at Mantua for some time iirc. And there’s also Giulia and Alessandro Farnese, who also seemed close as siblings. These are just a few examples, there are others, but knowing about it helps to give a broader picture of these families relations, contextualizing further the relations between Cesare and Lucrezia, and showing it didn’t deviate from the norm and environment of their times. Why their relationship got such a traction, when these other examples did not, can be explained by their nationality, lineage, and politics. Spaniards in Italy had the worst kind of reputation long before the Borgia family came along, it was partly justified and partly just the same ol’ prejudice. Moreover, Rodrigo Borgia raised his children predominantly in the Spanish fashion, and Cesare and Lucrezia were unapologetically proud of their Spaniard origins, too, so the way they presented themselves to world, as well as the way in which they showed their affection towards their family members seems to have been more in the Spaniard way than the Italian one, which might have caused a feeling of strangeness among their italian contemporaries, even of disapproval, and of course it was taken with malice by some, to be used for political means. Next there’s the lineage, while these other families had a lineage that traced back to the Italian/Frankish descent, with their ascentors also having firmly established their dynasty and power in Italy for many generations, the Borgia family was different, in that their lineage could only be traced back to Spain, Valencia, from a small Aragonese nobility, and their rise only started with the papal election of Alfons de Borja as pope  Calixtus III, in 1455, reaching its peak during the papacy of Alexander VI, and still they weren’t able to truly establish a powerful, lasting dynasty in Italy. And last but not least, the political factor: during the papacy of Alexander, the Borgia family was rocking the boat in the political scene, they openly and daringly defied the power and status quo of the Italian elite, which naturally wasn’t well received lol. I believe it would have been bad enough if that had come from a fellow noble italian family, but to have come from a family they regarded as outsiders, and of not quite being at the same rank as their own? which they saw as higher, more noble? that was a hard blow for them, it generated a lot of resentment and hatred, and the most effective way they found of retaliating against it, was to invest in political propaganda: distoring, amplying, and circulating all kinds of rumors about Rodrigo Borgia and his children. After Juan died, Cesare and Lucrezia were even more in the spotlight than before, their lives put under scrunity, and on a double standards of sorts, where everything they did (or were said to have done) always gained a wider magnitude (and judgment) than what was said familes like the Baglioni, Orsini, Farnese and d’Este did. Their sibling relationship, by consequence, was heavily exploited by their enemies in order to attack their reputation, most of all that of Cesare, who was the implementer of Rodrigo’s policies in the Papal States, which made him their nº 1 target.   Finally, just as an additional point here, I think it’s important to also say the history of the Borgia family is extremely chaotic and complex, the main issue being there really isn’t much objective, conclusive evidence about them, and the main events that transpired in their lives, making their historical literature, for the most part, quite subjective and easily malleable by scholars personal taste. One of the things I’ve noticed over the years is that how their characters, actions and relationships are presented can either follow a dogmatic pattern of (mostly unproven) repetitions, or it can change drastically depending on who you are reading, and what he/she believes to be true or not, which sources they rely on, their own standards for what they consider historical evidence, combined with the baggage of their own moral codes, personal ideas, and bias towards certain historical figures, and some historical relationships over others. One quick example that comes to mind is how some scholars consider the writings of Guicciardini and Capello about Rodrigo and Cesare as evidence, or a reliable source, which leads to completely different perceptions and presentations about the Borgia men and their lives, than say, scholars who are rightly more skeptical, critical of these writings. What is generally taken for granted as an established truth, when looked more carefully, ends up being at the very least a grey area, with gaps, uncertainties, contradictory info, and utterly biased accounts. The theme of Cesare and Lucrezia's relationship doesn't stray far from these issues, depending on what a scholar will interpret as evidence, he/she will reach different conclusions and presentations about their sibling bond. From my reading experience, I believe most of what is used to establish their bond as a intense, unique, super close one, is rooted in flimsy, subjective evidence**: hearsay, speculations and personal assumptions, sometimes being presented in a selective, misleding way. I tend to give more importance towards objective evidence: letters, documents and the few not so hostile sources about them, and when sticking to those, it’s hard to see how exactly their sibling relations were particularly closer or unusual from other siblings and other family relations. In my view, that’s a legend within a legend, a narrative built over time, that stuck as persistently as the incest legend, replacing it basically, almost looking like a way of not giving up the incest legend altogether, and still keeping some of it within the history of the Borgias. ** I’ll cite some examples of the subjective evidence about Cesare and Lucrezia, how it is presented, and the issues of using that as evidence for their relationship, I’ll post it undercut because this is already too long, but please feel free to ignore if you like, it’s just a complement of what I said above:

1. Sforza’s flight from Rome in 1497: it’s claimed to have been caused by Cesare’s jealousy over his sister, but there’s nothing concrete about that at all. Prior to Sforza’s flight there’s a letter by Ascanio Sforza commenting how Cesare and Juan were both protesting against Giovanni Sforza, in favor of their sister and their family’s interests. In fact, it seems Lucrezia herself complained about her husband to her father. There’s another account mentioning an argument between between Juan Borgia and Giovanni Sforza, and shortly after that, Sforza fled from Rome. It’s more plausible Sforza’s flight is connected to Juan, and maybe also him trying to avoid signing the divorce papers Alexander were forcing him to sign. If he had stayed in Rome, he would have been forced to sign it, and agree with the grounds for it, so it would make sense for him to leave Rome abruptly, without anyone knowing it, going back to Pesaro and trying to gather some support to fight against the divorce, which all of his later actions slightly corrobates. Cesare’s personal involvement in this event, esp. on the account of his jealousy towards Lucrezia, is unsubstantiated, and it was probably caused by the famous anecdote of Lucrezia hiding a servant in order for him to hear Cesare’s threats against Sforza’s life, then urging him to go tell Sforza, which prompts his flight from Rome, but that is an unreliable tale, most likely gossip from Roman courtiers to help make sense of the lacking information at the time about Sforza’s sudden and mysterious flight. 2. Perotto’s alleged murder: Another event that’s tied to Cesare, his jealousy/possessiveness over Lucrezia, and their intense, weird bond~~, however, we don’t know anything about Perotto and his involvement with the Borgia family, If he was indeed murdered, and if so, by whom? there’s a lot of gaps here. If we go by the accounts of the time, there’s an account saying he was arrested on the orders of the Borgia family, and then there’s Burchard’s account saying Perotto’s body was found at the Tiber, alongside a woman, who is usually assumed to have been one of Lucrezia’s maids, although that is unclear, and without getting too much into it, there’s also an issue around the authenticity of Burchard’s journals as it came down to us, with scholars questioning if he indeed wrote it all, or only parts of it, with the rest being added on by other writers, over time. In any case, neither account, as far as I remember, mentions Cesare’s name, and that’s about all we have about this event. If we go with the assumption of Perotto and Lucrezia having an affair that resulted in her pregnancy, and that’s why Perotto was arrested and subsequently murdered, and Cesare was behind it all, he was likely following his father's orders in a very common attempt to try to fix the dishonour made on the whole family by one their women having an affair with a man below their rank. This was a serious offense in their times, and the offender was usually punished, sometimes even the woman herself, (the fact Lucrezia wasn't punished, but rather indulged by the men in her family would suggest some interesting things about her role in the family and their dynamics) but then again, it is uncertain also if Lucrezia did had an affair with Perotto, and if it did or not resulted in a pregnancy. It’s just as likely Lucrezia had nothing to do with this, and Perotto was punished by some other unknown reason we will never know, or maybe he wasn’t even a victim of the Borgia family, but of the many enemies the family he worked for had in Rome. Juan had recently been murdered, so Perotto, one of Rodrigo’s favorite servants according to some, could have been another one of their victims. The only thing certain about all of this is that Perotto was not murdered by Cesare himself, in broad daylight in the Vatican, in front of his father, pope Alexander VI. 3. Alfonso d’Aragona alleged murder: I think this event is the most tumultuous and obscure event in the Borgias lives, certainly of Cesare’s life. It was an event that always excited people’s imagination, Capello’s account is the best example, istg he saw it as the best opportunity to show off his literary skills lol, but modern historians are not so different, they tend to create a mexican telenovela out of this, reading it and presenting as proof of the deep, intense bond Cesare and Lucrezia shared with one another. With Bradford making dramatic claims of jealousy on Cesare’s part, and how he saw Alfonso as a threat to his personal relationships with Lucrezia and his father, by extension his own ambitions, (although there is nothing significant suggesting Cesare’s ambition wasn’t aligned with his father’s own ambition, they were, for the most part on the same page politically) to scholars going even further than that and claiming his hatred over Alfonso was such, he even hated little Rodrigo, the child of Lucrezia and Alfonso, but there’s no documentation to support any of these claims. Scholars tend to treat Cesare’s guilt as an undeniable fact, but there are holes to this belief, and it’s one possibility among other possibilities. The truth is, given the moment this event took place and its political context, it is literally impossible to know what truly happened. All the accounts of contemporaries are messy, contradictory and contamined with bias, esp. the ones from the court of Naples. The d’Aragona family had always loathed the Borgia family, and they loathed them even more after they made their alliance with France, which culminated in the ruin of their house. If we go with Cesare being the guilty one, there is still no evidence his decision was made by any jealousy towards Lucrezia and the place Alfonso had in her life. If he did it, it seems he did it to protect himself for the inner threats against him (maybe also against his father) that seemed to be brewing in the Vatican from the pro-Aragonese party, which included a faction of the Colonnas, and Alfonso d’Aragona himself, and perhaps also for political reasons, since the Aragonese alliance ended up being another fiasco, and it wasn’t one he and Rodrigo could easily dissolve like they did with Sforza. But it is equally possible Alfonso was a victim of the on-going hostilities between the Orsini and the Colonna in Rome, given he was friendly with the Colonnas, and he later died of his wounds, due to some infection the doctors might not have been able to detect. Or he was a victim of the Gaetani family, as retaliation for Rodrigo’s actions against them, which included the murder of one of their relatives on Rodrigo's orders, or so it was what they believed at the time, and the lost of their properties, which Lucrezia herself bought and she was greatly benefited by their ruin. 4. Cesare’s letter to Lucrezia and his trip to Ferrara in 1502, is interpreted as a big deal by most scholars, but that’s partly because scholars tend to see Cesare as a cold, emotionless individual (Machiavelli’s prince prototype), and partly because idk why, but the main Borgia bios almost never exposes his letters in their entirety to his other family members and people close to him, so it’s easy to read his letter to Lucrezia and see too much into it, I did that, but once you look at his other private correspondance, esp. towards his siblings, you see it carried the same tone and affection as his letter to Lucrezia did. In fact, his letters to Juan are all signed in the same way his letter to Lucrezia is: Da vostro fratello che vi ama come sé stesso/From your brother who loves you as he loves himself. It seems to be a usual signature he used for his siblings, and it is a pretty standard family letter. And his going to Ferrara had as much political motives as personal ones, he clearly wanted to bring some support with him to the court of Milan to meet Louis XII, where all of his enemies had gathered and they were bad mouthing him to the King of France, trying to persuade him to stop supporting Rodrigo and Cesare’s campaigns in Italy. Given the recent, and totally expensive alliance the Borgias had made with the d’Este, Cesare might have thought Alfonso d’Este was the best candidate for him to bring along, hence why he went to Ferrara also. On his way back from Milan, him staying a few days with Lucrezia only really indicates his genuine concern for his sister’s health, as good brothers tend to feel. It wasn't an extraordinary gesture tbh, it is perceived that way because again, Cesare is usually presented as a robot who was above caring about anyone or anything except himself and his ambition, but there’s evidence suggesting that’s an extreme and incorrect view of his character, and actually he seemed to care about other things and the people close to him, Lucrezia, being his sister, was in this group. 5. Lucrezia’s support of Cesare after Rodrigo’s death, and her grief over his own death in 1507. For the first event, there’s something important to highlight imo, Lucrezia is put in the role of innocent pawn of the political intrigues of the Borgia men. She is seen and presented as passive and ignorant/disinterested in politics, esp. her family’s politics, which her biographers all tend to see in negative terms, therefore Lucrezia could not have been a willing, or at the very least, a nonchalant participant of it all because that would cause an issue with rehabiliting her image, however, there’s evidence contradicting this view prior to 1503, but from 1503-1507 it's impossible to deny Lucrezia's active role in the family's politics, and her biographers don't know what to make of it, neither how to explain it, except for saying her actions during these years were made out of the deep, unique bond she had with her brother, and the sisterly affection she felt for him (however undeserving they seem to believe he was of this affection), but here’s the thing: Lucrezia’s behavior in these years doesn’t differ from other noble women with their family members in times of trouble. Most women in these families understood better than anyone how important it was to increase and maintain their family power, it brought them more: wealth, status, influence, and security against their family’s enemies. I don’t believe for a second Lucrezia was clueless about that. It’s quite clear she was aware of her position, and that of her family, and the advantages their power brought her, as well as the dangers of it if they lost it, esp. when she was at the court of the d’Este. Once Rodrigo died, and Cesare’s fortune started to have its ups and downs, it’s likely she felt it was now up to her to ensure her family’s power wasn’t destroyed, to protect herself and her own. Her support of Cesare then, wasn’t atypical, and it looks like it was guided by her being careful and pragmatic about hers and her family’s future, just as much as her personal affection for her brother. The second event, her grief over Cesare, it’s important to remember her grief for her second husband Alfonso, and her grief over her father a few years before Cesare’s death. The historical records say she was so affected by Rodrigo’s death she remained in a dark room for days, and neither Alfonso d’Este nor Pietro Bembo dared to enter the room. There’s even an anecdote of her saying to her maids she felt like she was dying, which echoes the anecdote of her calling out Cesare’s name in her room at night in their intensity, whether these anecdotes are correct or not, the point here is that her grief over Cesare seems consistent to how she felt and expressed grief over her family members and people close to her, Rodrigo and Cesare being the closest we may say, but again, in the end, it’s nothing so unusual, extraordinary or exclusive of the Cesare/Lucrezia relationship, it is a sister mourning her brother, as she probably did when her other brother Juan, died, and when her father died. it's a normal family behavior, and very typical of the relations between the Borgia family. So, you know, these events are not so set in stone as they are made out to be, and there’s too much uncertainty for it to be used as evidence for Cesare and Lucrezia’s unique, extremely close relationship.There’s a lot we don’t know, and what we do know leads to other more plausible, down to earth possibilities than the usual narratives of: Sforza fleeing Rome because he was afraid of Cesare, and that being connected to Lucrezia, to the alleged murders of Perotto and d’Aragona by him out of his feelings of jealousy of Lucrezia also, which are all impossible to proof by the existing historical documents. The rest of it (Cesare’s letter to Lucrezia, his trip to Ferrara, etc) can and is taken out context imo, giving the impression their relations were somehow the exception within and outside their family. Scholars have believed and repeated these narratives as absolute truths, which explains the conclusions and presentations they make about them. The reality is that this theme as well as other themes about the Borgias do need some reassessment because they are very old and full of inconsistencies and misconceptions.

Okay so whenever a teacher asks me to introduce myself at the start of the school year, my default interesting fact is “I have a dog” and every single year the teachers are super amazed that i have a pet dog and it’s absolutely hilarious bc everyone else is like “I’m not sharing any personal information with you guys”, and the teacher ends up interrogating me about my pet dog.

But it’s not worth it to hold grudges, there’s no point letting fear of what could happen stop you from doing things you want to do and you will survive and you will be stronger because of it. Don’t let what other people say about you get you down, yes, it sucks to hear people speculating about you and your private life, but they have no idea what’s actually going on, and they’re just curious . What’s your degree/favourite subject? Uhhh it was drama but i dropped that and the 2019 school year hasn’t started yet so.. Who knows?

What motivates you to study? The fact that I gotta do well and get good marks in order to get into a good uni course… and the fact that i just want to keep getting better,, and i don’t want to disappoint people and i also don’t want to do badly bc yikes its real competitive at my school so like lowkey fear of failure

What time do you do your best studying? Tbh it really depends, it’s either the morning not long after i wake up (esp if it’s holidays or the weekend), right after i get home from school, or like late at night if i get a burst of motivation (like sometimes i’ll end up studying from 10:30 to 1am which isn’t sustainable if i have to get up at 7 for school) 

Best self care tip for exam season? Don’t spend your time around people who get really stressed out. It only makes you more stressed, and you don’t need that extra worry. Positive vibes only. Stay chill!
