They're too goddamn tired to snark and bicker; too relieved to imply anything other than, "I thought I'd never see you again." I need them to hug. I need Viago's fingers to dig into his fledgeling's shoulder and ribs so tightly that one might think he's trying to crush Rook's body into his own. Meanwhile, I need Rook to cling onto his brother's Talon's body with his face hidden in Viago's shoulder as if he's still the broken and bloody child Viago found all those years ago.

I have NOT seen enough appreciation for this man, and it is A CRIME. He was born on December 7th, 1843, within the borders of the Sikh Empire to Princess Pyara Kaur and Indian Assassin Arbaaz Mir. He is a certified sweetie bear and all-around great character (FIGHT ME) who acts as not only a patient mentor, but a calm mediator between the two rather hot-headed Frye twins... He is kind and peaceful despite the circumstances of the life he lives, and I admire that he has not become numb/cold blooded as a lot of assassins do to survive the 'lifestyle'(?) or hand that they deal with in life.

i am genuinely baffled by believers reblogging that "secular Christmas carol" that pleads with us to leave Christ out of Christmas. are people just really not reading the lyrics or have they allowed their faith to be so disillusioned that they would forget that the weary world rejoices. we chose a time of year to rejoice. there is no "magic of the season" that is missing now because of age or capitalism or what have you. there never was magic. it was Christ. it was divinity. holidays are a celebration of something important, and the feast (in the sense of "an annual religious celebration") is about the people, not the things. don't partake of common modern traditions if you so choose (the gift giving or the turkey or the lights or what have you), but do not conflate these things to be what a holy day is about.

holy days are built into annual or regular occurrences as an effort to remember and be reverent, which we are admonished to do and to do often.

"Christmas is all about the songs and the lights and the turkey and the carols and bloated gift-giving" is not reverent, and isn't the enlightened take you think it is.

I need to talk about Lucanis' eyes because despite him being a ruthless assassin, they convey so much warmth. Every time he looks at Rook, it's with care and dedication, and it's all said without a word.

With Rook being a Crow as well, he knows about the methods. And he's damn sure Lucanis has convinced a pretty target or two to go somewhere a little more private with just a glance. No honeyed words, no sultry whispered promises of what's to come, just a squint of the eyes and a cant of the head towards the door.

It's the third week at the Lighthouse, and Lucanis gives Rook a look—The Look. It's just a tease; the team is enjoying after-dinner chats and Bellara mentions being stuck on a romantic scene because she just doesn't have the experience.

Lucanis gives him that siren-song look, a simple one Bellara could draw inspiration from. It's sweet yet alluring, intense yet tender. And Rook realizes he would have followed Lucanis without second thought, even as he's fully aware of the daggers concealed on Lucanis' person.
