The magic system in Threads of Fate/Dewprism is genuinely a LOT of fun but unfortunately the level design never really fully utilizes this. The game deeply suffers from being split in twain as both a 3D platformer and a 3rd person action RPG (a la kingdom hearts) but doesn't really excel in either; there's not enough enemies thrown at you to really get into the flow of battle, and all of the bosses are more like older 3D zelda bosses where you target their weakness rather than action game bosses.

And in reverse, the platforming is boring at best and frustratingly hard at worst.

Honestly I think a possible solution could be if there were split levels for each (i.e. a world for platforming and a world for mostly fighting, I suppose like Sonic Unleashed?). In general I think ToF suffers from being a short game - each route is only 8 hours of gameplay, and most levels are reused between Mint and Rue's story...so, gameplay wise, it ends up being about 8 hours of the same thing twice.

But otherwise, mostly...the level design is kind of bad for most of the stages. I think there's a few (Carona Forest, Ghost Temple, Raging Mountain, Tower of Maya... I think that's it honestly) levels that are genuinely fun but otherwise. It does actually kind of suck.

However it's the ideal game I'd like to make - a 3D platformer action game - and ToF is a useful example of what has already been tried, and what to avoid.

Saeyoung, who folds little origamis for you when he gets the chance and leaves them somewhere around for you to find. It started with a tiny paper star he was folding for the heck of it, but you liked it so much that he decided to do it again, and again, and again. So now you have a neat little stash of different animals, shapes, and otherwise cool-looking creations (all of which have silly, blank expressions drawn onto them as faces that really add a sweetness to their personality.) You like to sit and fiddle with them every now and again, just to feel the sharp edges of the crane’s beak against your fingertips or to split the little heart apart and see the “i love you <3” written on the inside.

Yoosung, who buys sticky notes for his studies but ends up using most of them to leave you little notes with cute messages and silly doodles. He likes to think this is a better usage for them, especially when he watches you spot one out of the corner of his eye, and you hold it in your hands like it’s some kind of love-stricken poetry from a wordsmith he knows he’ll never be. They might be simple and straightforward, but there’s not much room for stanzas of prose on these little post-its, and reminders that you’re doing a good job or that you look cute are so much more than enough.

Jaehee, who bakes you little desserts for you to eat when you get home, often heart-shaped or dusted in romantic colors, —always in your favorite flavors. Cookies with little jam hearts in the center, cupcakes with heart sprinkles and a cream just to your liking filling up the inside; each and every one made with so much love that you can practically taste it on your tongue. There’s no one else she’d rather bake for, and no one else she’d rather spend the rest of her days with. Sometimes words are hard to come by, and she worries she won’t always get it right, but when you kiss her on the cheek before taking a bite of her treats, well. . . She thinks things will be alright anyway.

I don’t understand the appeal of Gnarpy’s old design and why it’s missed by so many fans.

I love Gnarpy. Xey are my favorite Regretevator character, but something that bogs my mind is the constant obsession some Regretevator fans have with a design that was replaced due to behind the scene controversy. I will admit, I do feel bad that the design was tarnished as a result of its creator’s degenerate behavior, but I can’t help but ask why people continue to view the redesign as a terrible thing. Let me take you through a crash course about why I dislike the old design and how the redesign is actually the best thing to happen to Gnarpy in an artistic standpoint. Allow me to explain:

Let’s face it, the original design was bland. For what is supposed to be an anthropomorphic alien cat warlord with a superiority complex, the original design fails at conveying that. Good character design should be able to tell the viewer something about that character’s personality and who they are just by looking at them. The original design fails at doing that. It’s just a generic green cat with some antennae and glowing stuff, that’s it. There’s nothing that tells me xyr an intergalactic general, no attributes that makes xem seem otherworldly like an alien should be, and it just doesn’t match the rudeness, arrogance, and exaggerated energy of xyr in-game dialogue. Instead, it just made Gnarpy look like uninspired furrybait for the sake of furrybait, which to me is an insult towards a genuinely interesting character concept.

The redesign on the other hand is way more faithful to Gnarpy’s character than the original design ever was. Redesigned Gnarpy looks more cartoony, having more alien-like details such as four arms, four eyes, conjoined ears, double tails with pincers, and a red outfit with a yellow star badge. Not only that, xyr color scheme is more interesting, xey have a recognizable silhouette, and xyr new animations perfectly capture xyr pompous ego. Some may argue that the deviation from the blocky style makes xem less charming, but to me, I feel the opposite. The complex goofiness of the new design not only fits xyr personality perfectly, it also gives xem a sort of an Invader Zim/Peridot type of charm that makes me like Gnarpy’s character so much more.

Overall, I know that art is subjective and I know that making this confession may have put me at risk of getting publicly executed (French Revolution styled). I just don’t get the appeal of such a bland design, especially one made by a creep. I like the way Gnarpy looks now and I feel that most Regretevator fans are too harsh on it solely because it deviates away from the original. Yes, it was a sudden change nobody asked for, but that doesn’t make it right to immediately hate it without giving it a chance (also it’s not like the developers had a choice). If you genuinely prefer the old design, have no ill intent on bashing you for your preferences. If you like it, all power to you. I’m just tired of hearing the vocal parts of the fandom complain about a fictional character just because they were changed. Old Gnarpy is dead, xey died behind the Shwaffle House parking lot. Just be glad Gnarpy didn’t suffer the same fate as Miché did: completely removed from the game.

Eddie just nods. “Fellow bookworm, huh? Nice.” He glances around the library. “You’re really smart, right? Probably read everything in this place.”

“Pretty much,” you agree, even though it’s far from the truth. Your crush on Eddie Munson is beyond cliché: shy honors student falling for the metalhead bad boy. He leaves you both tongue-tied and rambling. “I didn’t know you liked to read, too. What’s your favorite book?”

You expect him to scoff at that, but he just plucks a pen from his back pocket and clicks it open, scrawling the title on his calloused palm. “Little…Women.” His tongue pokes out from between his lips as he concentrates, skin not the best medium for writing. “Okay, now I’ll remember to read it.”

You spend the next hour shelving books with him and swapping stories. Eddie tells you about his band and his D&D Club, and you confide in him that you’re working on writing your own novel. His eyes widen at the information. “No shit!” he exclaims, seemingly unaware of his otherwise quiet surroundings. “How much have you written?”

“Just an outline so far,” you admit, but he’s already excited.

“Bring it with you tomorrow,” he instructs, “and I’ll read it after we’re done.”

You cock your eyebrow at this. “How many days of manual labor did Higgins give you?”

Now it’s Eddie’s turn to be bashful. “Just, uh, just the one.” His cheeks tinge pink. “But I’d like to keep talking with you.” He lets his fingers brush against yours for just a moment, but it’s enough to tell you that there’s hope for something beyond friendship here.

Introductions and Rules

Terzo’s annual New Year’s Eve Bash is known to get a little rowdy and always a little…raunchy. So when one Sister of Sin finds herself in a drunken game of Spin the Bottle with the Papas and their most trusted ghouls, there is a part of her that wonders how she got herself into this mess and how exactly she’d be getting out of it.

A/N: Alright ghesties, listen up! This feels so indulgent of me but the idea would not leave my mind and DEMANDED it was written down. I tried to think of the best way to do this so we’ll just have to use the honor system and not cheat and just pick your favorite ;) This is meant to be short and sweet little blurbs, I was thinking if this is popular enough I may do a follow up with each option but we’ll have to see how busy I get with my new second job and how I can squeeze this into the update schedule at least till Sinners is done.

Terzo’s New Years Eve party was in full swing. 

The ball had dropped only minutes ago and I was dancing with a few of the other siblings; laughing and singing along with the music as we all planned to party late into the night. 

“Sorella!” 

I turned with a wide smile towards the source of the voice, Terzo was smiling mischievously at me. I couldn’t help but wave him over, giggling as he spun me around to the music. I had been drinking and I felt the flush on my face as he pulled me close to him as we bounced to the beat.

“Just the lady I was looking for, Tesoro.” Terzo spoke in my ear over the pulse of the music, his breath tickling the sensitive hairs and making me shudder. “A few of us are playing a little game, I wanted to see if you would join us, si?”

“What kind of game, Papa?”

“Just something one of the junior sisters taught me when I was a teenager.” He chuckled, hand on my waist. “Come on, Sorella. Will you indulge me? A little dance with the devil, no?”

I couldn’t help the flush that spread over my cheeks as I bit my bottom lip, nodding my head earnestly. Terzo kissed my temple and took my hand as we weaved out of the crowded dance floor and out of the ballroom, heading down the hallway where some couples had paired up and locked together. We slid into the practice room for the Ghost Project band and Terzo held his arm out wide. 

“Welcome, Tesoro. Please sit.” He purred wickedly, a smirk on his face as he gestured to the small group sitting on the floor in a circle around a…bottle of wine?

The circle was composed of a few siblings, Brothers and Sisters alike, along with a handful of the senior clergy. There was also Papas Primo and Secondo, Cardinal Copia, and three ghouls. Swiss, Omega, and Dewdrop.

“Terzo?” I asked, heart beating wildly in my chest as I caught a few hungry looks from several members of the group and I couldn’t help the blush on my rosy cheeks. “What is this?”

“Haven’t you ever played spin the bottle, darlin’?” Swiss chuckled, leaning back on his arms as his tail swished back and forth playfully. “It’s like that, mixed with a little seven minutes in heaven since some of us have gotten carried away in past rounds.” 

“Fuck off, Swiss.” Dew growed, kicking his foot at the other ghoul with a growl.

“Gentleghouls, please…” Terzo chuckled before turning back to me. “You can leave if you so wish, Sorella. Otherwise I must ask for your riservatezza, si? This is a little new years tradition we do to ring in the new year with our most cardinal sin…”

“Yes, Papa.” I bit my bottom lip, nodding my head as I slid forward and sat in the open spot between Dew and Swiss. “I understand, I want to play.”

“Meravigliosa, Tesoro.” Terzo teased, moving to sit in the other open spot across from me. “Why don’t you spin first, hm?” 

My heart was hammering in my chest, anxious but giddy with the idea of what could happen tonight. What this one choice could mean for me for the new year. With a slightly shaky hand I reached out towards the bottle of wine that I only now had noticed was an empty sacramental wine bottle. Smiling to myself I took a deep steadying breath and gave the bottle a strong spin. 

With my heart ready to leap out of my throat I watched, holding my breath, as the glass bottle spun and spun. The sound of the glass scraping against the floor made my pulse tick up with every second it kept spinning. Slowly but surely the rotations took longer and longer, the bottle slowing down. A few more full turns came before the neck rattled to a stop, pointing at the individual I’d be thrown into the closet with for seven minutes. 

Suddenly shy, I peaked up through my lashes at the other being on the other end of the bottle while biting my bottom lip as everyone cheered like drunk teens, hooting and hollering at the flush on my cheeks and the look on the other individual's face. 

Happy New Year to me , I couldn’t help but think to myself as they offered their hand to help me to my feet…

Now while I wouldn’t call myself the CEO of Petrine quite yet (still working on earning that title) I certainly would call myself a Petrine expert, and today I come to you with everyone’s favorite subjects; unit stats and headcanons for lore IS didn’t have time to actually finish.

Petrine’s stats in Path of Radiance (I’ll be using hardmode since the true ending basically confirms it as the “canon” difficulty) are incredibly standout, not just because she’s a fucking beast but also because they don’t make sense, at least on the surface.

(I wont be going over her CON since it’s essentially meaningless on a female character, iykyk but tldr IS has a real nasty habit of genderlocking a playable CON stat, Echidna who won the Binding Blade woman’s division is rendered useless in her starting chapter because her weapon is too heavy for her and the enemies she’s surrounded by double her to death because of it, she is a green unit, her surviving is mostly an rng check.)

So you might be noticing something here, why the actual fuck is a PALADIN a complete quality build between physical and magical stats?

(Besides IS wanting to give her a cool magic weapon of course, there are very few coincidences in Tellius, to such an insane degree that many of Radiant Dawn’s twists were figured out long before its release. The crumb trail of what is very likely Petrine cut content makes me sad.)

Here we dip ever so slightly into headcanons (I’ll try to avoid getting to deep into pseudo canon stuff) but the reasoning is almost certainly because of her brand (Tiger Tribe). Micaiah, a heron branded carrying Altina’s blood, can very notably cast magic without a tome (she also can cast dark/elder magic without consequence but thats not the point of this), the ability to cast spells you have a predisposed proficiency for without a tome is very likely not unique to her, rather what makes her special is the sheer power of the magic her body is capable of channeling.

Petrine’s weapon in Path of Radiance is the Flame Lance, it deals magical damage based on her abnormally high magic stat and is essentially a catalyst for fire anima combined with a weapon she’s comfortable using (S rank).

So it’s pretty likely Petrine can cast at least use some fire magic without a tome or other catalyst, but uses one for stronger spells to avoid the recoil on her body, and I just think that’s metal as fuck, like that shit’s fucking awesome.

(Which is why in Fire Emblem lore tomes break, they take on the spell’s recoil in place of your body, and also why Valentian mages are just built different and say fuck that. What likely differentiates Branded is that they can cast varying degrees of magic without suffering recoil to their body, in Micaiah’s case healing magic is incredibly straining so I like to think of Sacrifice more being her casting Nosferatu in reverse)

i really loved the vibes of both games mainly, since you can only follow as the story unfolds - i have to admit that while your favorite is the second, mine was the first. i am weak to selfish people, i love selfishness, not necessarily as a default but more as a proof of pure individuality and i am obsessed with the ideas associated with individualism

so when joel made that choice against everything? against the entire world? against himself?? hell, even against ellie herself???? went a bit insane with that

i would definitely disagree with the pacing thing actually!!!!! to me it really fit the way the story was progressing yk?? like obviously the start is slow bc ellie and dina are only getting into the city and they have nothing to worry abt other than the few infected as they're looting and tooting around. and then right after they do meet them it all starts getting faster and that too just felt very fitting. bc it was all chaotic!!!!!!!!!!!!! i felt like that kept me on my toes even more!!!!

Fianna "Fi" Astara || Asmodeus Tiefling || Beastmaster Ranger-Bard || She/they || 26

((The bard part of Fi is still new to me in game so I'll have more details as I level them up :P)) favorite weapon: Bow and violin. Fi likes to keep a distance by using her bow for various attacks/aoe's or use her violin for bardic spells to buff or occasionally go on the offense by being sassy(viscous mockery). She also likes being a bit sadistic by using dissonant whispers to instill terror in her enemies.

style of combat: She likes to play it safe from far away (though occasionally delights in up close combat when given the chance.) She tends to use spike growth when she can funnel enemies through it while others utilize spells to slow them down even further or keep them within the spikes. Her bear, Ranka, uses goading roar to distract enemies from her and her allies while Kilbern (raven) flies in to blind enemies and then flies out of reach.

most prized possession: A painting of her old companion, Sebastien, as well as his collar. Sebastien had been with Fi ever since she was a child and was the only creature keeping her alive who truly cared for her. They were inseparable.

deepest desire: For a true home and family (aside from her animal companions). Her blood family and old friends betrayed her trust and treated her awfully. When she meets the bg3 companions, she ends up forming a found family as their adventure goes on but it takes quite awhile for her to open up her heart to them. When she finds Astarion and they eventually get together, she finds that they have a bit in common and that she can be completely vulnerable with him after some trials and tribulations. She first befriends Karlach though, and they go through lots of shenanigans.

guilty pleasure: Cuddling. She is touch starved and has trouble with physical contact, but she really just wants all of the cuddles and hugs from her favorite people.

best-kept secret: Her past full of bullying that evolved to torturous levels, as well as other events in her past. Eventually she opens up to others aside from her animal companions.

greatest strength: Her unwillingness to give up and continue striving to believe in others even when she has lived through otherwise. She knows its cheesy, but its what keeps her going nonetheless.

fatal flaw: She has an awful habit of deflecting her vulnerabilities to others, feeling more comfortable having more knowledge on others than they have on herself. She doesn't outright lie, but she does feel as though her issues are minimal.

favorite smell: The scent of her wolf companion who she considers her daughter, Sasha.

favorite spell or cantrip: Spike Growth. Try running through that to chuck an axe through her head while she takes cover behind her more bash-bash-stabby-slicey friends.

pet peeve: She's surrounded by animals who she feels are family. Sasha, her wolf (daughter), Ranka, her bear (brother), and Kilbern her raven (son). She constantly has to pick out fur and feather off of her clothes and food.

bad habit: Any lost animal she finds who needs a home she will bring back to camp, whether the others like it or not. "But they neeeed ussss. Look at how sad they are!"

hidden talent: She can learn things quickly, but if she doesn't use that knowledge, forgets just as quickly.

leisure activity: Playing various instruments and attempting to sing (can hold a tune but that's about it) and dance (while occasionally tripping over her own tail).

I'm sick in bed, so I'm gonna talk about my current favorite au where Jim Hopper and Vance Hopper are father and son.

One of my favorite parts of this au has got to be that police chief Jim Hopper would have a delinquent teenage son that goes in and out of the police station enough times his coworkers have a little spot reserved for him. He gets a call about a disturbance, and he already suspects halfway to the door who it is.

Just Vance "Pinball" Hopper freezing when big Hopper full-name drops him whether he’s in the middle of bashing someone’s face in or a game right after, before being dragged out by his own father who’s scolding him the entire way to the station. He’s gotta look his coworkers in the eye as he bails his son out for the fifth time that week and it’s only Tuesday. His day off, he only lets Vance out the house with the promise of staying out of trouble, and its barely a few hours later, he gets a call from work, and it’s just, “Hopper, you’ll never guess who’s here,” and he’s greatly contemplating putting Vance’s head through a wall. 

He leaves for his lunch break in the middle of a pretty calm day and is feeling almost hopeful, comes back, and Vance is just chilling at an officer’s desk like he’s never done anything wrong, ever, in his life, like he’s not on a first name basis with at least half the staff there.

I just find it hilarious that if Vance was Jim Hopper’s kid, every day is just an eternal headache wrangling in his menace to society son who gets every ounce of his stubborness and anger issues from him, but worse. They love each other at the end of the day but also match each other’s energy in ways that drive them both crazy.

8. what is your theory for their crime? if there is general consensus on it in the fandom, do you have any other, not-so-widely-accepted thoughts on it?

no clue!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i honestly dont. really. have a super good idea as to what his crime even was other than he bonked someone, or multiple ppl, with a baseball bat. like. who did he even kill. what was the motive. what did the person(s) he killed do to trigger him into needing to protect himself. and i doubt we'll get answers to these questions until trial 3 considering John is very adamant about protecting Mikoto from the stress that comes with even thinking about that stuff. and John himself said he doesn't even remember a lot of the details and that his memory of it is fuzzy so. fucking RIP us i guess.

anyway. as for... i guess any sort of theory... uh... i've always liked the stalker theory.. though i guess i'm not As sure about it since Double's release but... i just think it explains all the camera imagery nicely.. though there's also other explanations for "being watched" being a theme for Mikoto so... who knows, i sure don't.

as I think about it, I wonder if the victim we see in MeMe getting bonked by Mikoto is maybe one of his coworkers... like... i don't know why Milgram would put so much focus on his Working Life if it didn't have Some connection with the crime... and a connection other than "this was making him so stressed that he was more prone to snapping under pressure"... or else Backdraft would've shown Fuuta in college-- /j. like I really hope he killed his boss, but i don't think that happened unfortunately... i guess it's still possible but... idk.

on its own... that would depend on what "on its own" means, exactly... like take everything other than the crime itself out of the equation? if so, then... well. my answer is not a yes or no but is instead:

i don't think you can, nor really should, judge a crime just on its own and not consider anything else about it. as Kotoko put it...

hm..... well for one I'm always here for bashing the living hell that is The Working Culture, so hell yeah to that 🍻! I'm also a fan of just... the questions it poses about mental illness and culpability and the complications that arise when trying to take those types of extenuating circumstance into account.

of course I like the DID rep, and I think it's done very well so always a fan of that. I like just mentioned this in a post so oops but. as i said there, i really like how his DID isn't only portrayed as super clear-cut alters that like... never blend together. there is a good balance between how distinct they are and how much self agency they have, and then also how they influence each other. imo.

if we get to learn more about his family and what his home life was like growing up... I'm sure I will be a very big fan of that. here's a meme that I'm in love with that's sorta related I guess.
