First off!!! Hello fellow davejade enjoyer i see you. Second off—what sort of things do you wish you could’ve seen with these two in canon :0. Could be expansion on canon scene, arc direction, or just a new scene entirely. for me personally I would’ve loved to see some genuine fighting collaboration going on. I felt VERY teased with all the magic combo’s in collide.

Third! I know they do a lot of music collaboration in canon, and I’ve seen some things with them making a band together post canon. What sort of sound do you think they’d have/what artist do you think they’d sound like?

okay god theres so much i wish was expanded on in canon with regard to dave and jade

this post is swan dive into homestuck meta and took me over a day to write. so i would appreciate feedback or discussion on this if you'd like, reblogs appreciated!

despite this question being posed as davejade related, my answers here are actually relevant for anyone interested in homestuck meta as well.

it’s just recently come to my attention that there are a a handful of people on twitter who are vocal davejade dislikers. i didnt know it was actually disliked until i looked it up on twitter, i honestly thought it was a joke blown out of proportion but no they exist! it surprised me a lot to see people think they "lack chemistry". not only because knowing what i know about them thats a ridiculous insinuation, but also i haven't seen the vitriol on tumblr. probably because we can actually poast about it on here in an unabridged manner which thus enables better, deeper critical analysis and engagement with the media. i think also people forget that dave strider is canonically bisexual and are too yaoipilled + facing the consequences of the epilogues to even give davejade a serious look/analysis. (dave dates terezi and karkat in separate timelines, thinks jane is hot, thinks roxy is a babe but shoves it down when he discovers she’s his ectomom lmfao. davesprite—an extension of dave himself—dated jade! but i'm going to cover that in more depth in this post since theres a lot of misunderstandings about the nature of that relationship in fanon.)

(as a side note according to what some people have told me in inbox and what ive seen lol i think that ive been inadvertently been getting people into davejade. it's all in my davejade tag here in chronological order if you'd like to get a Whiff. be sure to read the tags on posts in there too!)

even though theres a lot in this post as it is, it doesn't cover everything ive talked about wrt davejade, and i think it would benefit readers to have complementary posts alongside this for the full picture with stuff it doesn't cover. there's a ton about why theyre cute and why i think they work well together in that tag.

i think a huge chunk of the issue has to do with how the narrative handles dave and jade. one of the most damning things to me is how glossed over their canon interactions were in act 5 despite them collaborating on one of the most important things in the story. i haven't talked about this yet but i'm going to do so here. because they’re put on the backburner by the focus of the narrative during act 5, people who don’t read carefully will miss the implications that are there all along in canon but easily passed over.

under the cut ive separated it into multiple parts

1. Jade’s Quest: What Frog Breeding Entails

this is an analysis examining apart exactly what jade and dave did while frog breeding. i wrote it while high which was extremely enlightening and it allowed me to comprehend it and hopefully explain it in an understandable way. i also discuss how shitty the lack of on-screen communication between jade and dave was for this part and the next.

2. Jade & Dave vs. Jack Noir

ive discussed this one before on my blog so it's not as dense (see davejade tag). but i still sewed the gifs together and discuss how unfortunate this was to be be delegated to a banner at the top of mspa and the neglect of that whole arc despite the outcomes of it being reissued by characters thousands of pages later

3. Davesprite and Grimbark Jade

i get into davesprite's head here and try to make his motivations about the breakup clear to the extent that i can infer because jesus fuck i love these characters way too much ive known them for a decade i understand their core personality structures and why they think what they do and what is most likely to happen when extrapolating? i also talk about how grimbark jade changed the way the fandom perceives their relationship, leaving davejade on a low note instead of a high note. and then hs epilogues had even worse consequences for davejade but i wont get into it because it was character assassination all around and doesnt deserve my time or yours. but if you wanna know what i think, here

where actually answer this ask like it's an ask and not an essay

1. Jade’s Quest: What Frog Breeding Entails

i wish we could have seen what collecting frogs entailed for the two of them. what exactly were they doing? jade’s quest is one of the most interesting.

before i start i want to take a tangent and say the frog breeding reminds me of back in 2020-2021 when i would breed hybrid flowers in animal crossing new horizons to get a very specific gene sequence for these flowers to not only use to breed for hybrids, but to get known gene sequences that i could use to “check” the genes of other flowers. the goal is to get two parent flowers whose sequences when bred would make a specific phenotype 100% of the time.

this sounds complicated but here’s what i did for the lilies:

(“rare island” refers to one of the first acnh patches that removed a nook miles island from the pool that had hybrid versions of your native flower of very specific phenotypes for each color. i wrote out the breeding chains to get parents that would always breed that exact flower found on the rare hybrid nmt island that is no longer available.)

the cleanup ALL TO GET the white 2-2-2 lily looked like this. and after i got white 2-2-2 lily it was smooth sailing

after all that i could use the orange 2-2-0 lilies and white 2-2-2 lilies made in the black lily process and get rare island orange 2-2-1 lilies 100% of the time. in mendelian genetics these numbers (2-2-1) are quite literally RR-YY-Ww.

RR-YY-ww (orange) x RR-YY-WW (white) = RR-YY-Ww (orange: heterozygous Ww gene)

and all that effort into getting white 2-2-2 lilies enables me to get it over and over again now. i don’t have to repeat that process to get rare island pink lilies. all i need to do for the pink 2-0-2 lilies is breed two default bag red lilies (2-0-1) together. 50% will be red (2-0-1) lilies, 25% will be black 2-0-0 lilies, and the last 25% will be pink (2-0-2) lilies.

anyway sorry back to the main point. FROG BREEDING. it just reminded me of it. now that i think of it the frog breeding process also reminds me a lot of artbreeder back from when AI was only a fun little toy 4-5 years ago

ok so have a look at what kanaya says about what jade must do. this is the coolest quest imo because of how it progresses and how long it actually is

here’s how it works. remember back in act 2, when the wayward vagabond needed to tie a longer cable to descend down the ship (and refused to give up the ones that made up his mayoral sash)? he used the appearifier in the ship to appearify the extra cable across the gap to his location? that’s how the appearifier normally works when when it’s locked to the present. it’s very straightforward.

when jade appearifies a frozen frog, it shows us this exact thing. she appearified the actual frog itself (the same way WV appearified the actual cable across the gap) to her exact location. it can get the frog out of the ice in the way WV could untrap serenity from the amber. if something’s destiny wouldn’t otherwise be changed, it will not be paradoxified, it will just simply itself be warped to that location, with precise carving if it is somehow trapped inside of something else.

if you could appearify it to your location right now, you wouldnt be able to take it out the appearifier’s crosshairs in person later to alter its destiny because the object won’t be there at that time. it wouldve been with you the entire time. unless you decide to take the appearified item back to that location so that you could appearify it in the past, but that’s the most pointless time loop ever and doesn’t change its destiny.

for this icicle frog jade and dave weren’t capable of changing its destiny anyway, because it was completely encased in ice, and just didn’t bother to go after it. partially because it was with jade at the appearifier the entire time anyway and she can’t exactly put it back in there in the future. the point is, besides jade appearifying it to her location, the frog had no other possible routes of destiny. in that part of lofaf where she appearified the frozen frog from, the ice is too deep to get anything out of it (other than appearifying it) and i’m not sure the forge would have melted it in time before their reckoning ended anyway.

the goal of jade and dave is to target frogs on the appearifier screen and trust that their future selves follow through in altering the frog’s destiny. if so, then the frog’s paradox slime will appear instead and its genes would be collected in addition to creating offspring between multiple paradox clone frog genes. then, dave and jade would necessarily have to go out adventuring and find the frog so that they end up following through for their past selves.

if i understand correctly, jade is creating all the frogs on her planet that grow up with manually modified genes. these frogs must be genetically altered from their parents so that the frogs she creates don’t grow up to become one of their parents (as they’d be identical). the mutant offspring frogs “generation A” she ectobiologizes will eventually mature from tadpoles to frogs, assisted by dave’s time travel. then she will eventually target “generation A” with the appearifier to get their paradox slime to fuse with some other frogs’ paradox slime and create new slightly altered frogs “generation B” (and then follow through on altering the “generation A” frogs’ destiny so their slime and genes can be paradoxified by jade and dave’s past selves). repeat until the genes are fine tuned for the genesis frog.

this is why i compared it to my breeding in animal crossing. getting the genesis frog reminds me of the blue rose paths. i worked with the garden council back in the day and i used backwardsN’s “cesspool” method, except i honestly gotta say my white 2-2-2 lily thing was much more involved and carefully maneuvered in a way that i imagine frog breeding is more like. backwardsN’s “genepool method” was basically making a red-orange-black rose primordial soup and waiting for a blue rose to emerge out of it, just increasing the chances seeing a blue rose sprout the next day after watering with each generation of offspring. you KNOW my ass was using time travel, even if i happened to get lucky and got a blue rose without even finishing the big turtle plot. without time travel, most players (95%) will get their first blue rose before these # of days. (open up advanced tag)

there must be so many daves running around to help her going back in time all within the span of a few hours while still having their own linear, older timelines that are much longer than the “time stage” they’re actually functioning in. this sounds complicated but it’s not. think of this “time stage” as analogous to the 3 days until the moon falls in majoras mask. it’s the “time window” all the time travel takes place within, but link doesn’t become a day younger when he travels to a day ago. the timeline of his “self” is older but is kept within the confines of the 3-day timeframe. similarly, in tears of the kingdom, two master swords exist simultaneously for most of history, but the one on the light dragon’s head (who was above the cloud barrier before the upheaval btw) is further ahead on its own linear timeline: it starts as the other, pre-gloomed master sword → broken by gloom → sent to the past to be repaired → renewed over time, existing at the same time on the “time stage” as its own pre-gloomed past self but ahead on its own linear timeline

now imagine this but within the “time stage” of just a few hours within the same 24-hour period. kanaya says frog breeding ordinarily takes weeks. multiple daves can exist simultaneously because they’re operating in the same few-hour-timeframe but one can linearly be days ahead of another. it’s the exact same thing as breeding flowers in animal crossing for irl days but to your game it’s whatever date you have it set to. your irl progress isn’t lost if you go back a few days in settings. i’d often find a week in june to use as a “time stage” to loop through when it would rain at least one hour on each day of that week which would save me the hassle of watering my flowers every day before time traveling to the next.

it must’ve sucked for dave to hear jade say the same things over and over again. the novelty probably wore off pretty fast lol…… dave says he saw his future self fighting and dying to jack and knew that’s what he’d eventually have to do as well. every single dave at all points of his linear timeline understood that and it probably settled something horrible into his heart.

im imagining during the original run dave was thinking to himself: “im bored but cant alter anything about this without creating a doomed timeline. if i dont see my future self hugging jade then i cant hug her even though i really fuckin want to. note to future self: hug jade. aww shit look at me go guess i remembered. hell fucking yes cant wait for that to be me in a few hours” and gives a thumbs up

future dave pov, hugging jade and watching his past self give him a thumbs up from afar thinking to himself: “ahaha i remember exactly what i was thinking there” and gives a thumbs up

but anyway. goddamn. JADE AND DAVE. what did hussie do to you.

this is a goddamn atrocity.. what the hell man. i wish we could have at LEAST seen the text file jade sent to kanaya. we got to see ConversationWithAVeryStupidGirl.Txt but not daveisafunnyguy.txt?

i mean i GUESS the humor is delivered through this

and like, yeah that is pretty funny? but i feel like the single laugh this gives me is nothing compared to the joy i wouldve gotten out of seeing what dave has to say about the cloning apparatus for ants here and talking himself into circles about frog procreation enough to make not just gigglehouse jade laugh, but kanaya too

we spent so much time learning about the mechanics of the punch designix and hardly anything about creating the seed of the actual new universe. we learn about it through kanaya and karkat messaging jade, instead of dave and jade working that out through SHENANIGANS. even though this is JADE AND DAVE'S session. it’s fine that kanaya is helping them, as she should, but we’ve seen parallel pesterlog conversations before so i dont get why we didn’t get that here! jade and dave frog breeding is one of the most important events in homestuck, and yet it was terribly glossed over. everything in the story, their futures, are predicated on their success. not just in their unwinnable session, but the one they split up for 3 years and escape to.

at first i thought, maybe their lack of shown interaction has to do with hussie working out the intricacies of pesterlog/dialogue thing? as he once stated on tumblr:

shoshaumbay asked: In the intermission of act 6, it says that they get to talk. Does this mean that their guardians couldn’t talk to them before and that is why they left them notes all around their houses? The achievement badge only upgraded their ability to speak to each other as presented through the comic. I.e. it permitted them to speak to each other… WHILE WE WATCH! Do you think all the trolls were hanging out together, not talking at all? Or Dave and Jade were doing all that frog hunting without a single peep?? That’s ridiculous. On the other hand, abstraction weaves itself through the Homestuck reality, and it can be hard to pin down where abstraction is to be taken literally. The truth is, there is not much distinction between the layers of abstraction and the reality they are meant to stand for. John was both literally named on his 13th birthday, and not quite, because that’s silly. The guardians are both literally silent automatons, and not really, as there is indication through allusion they function as normal people too. And the kids went through a huge adventure, achieved immortal god status, and even then had to gain a few more levels just to gain the achievement of simple dialogue as a literal upgrade, as well as not literally, because that makes no sense. The reality is inseparable from the way the story is presented and the way the “game” is played. But those abstractions are also a facade for a more life-like reality beneath it as well.

then i realized, this is not only an arbitrary cop out that affects my enjoyment of the comic in retrospect because they wind up being able to talk later anyway and that makes me feel cheated in these moments, but also still actually awful within these parameters because hussie breaks his own rule here, proving he could have shown us dave and jade talking in person at any time regardless of needing the gift of gab achievement for us to watch them as readers. recall this is also the first time john and rose met in person (at least when rose wasn't asleep):

2. Jade & Dave vs. Jack Noir

this is where i take out my frustration over this being delegated to a banner at the top to the point where readers forgot it occurred.

i wish their time on lofaf frog breeding and fighting with jack was front and center and wasnt just in the banner at the top of the page. it makes it seem not as important when it completely was, considering that characters brought up what had happened in that scene multiple times.

it is significant because it is at that point that jack noir has killed all of the kids at least once. the only one left being jade who he refuses to kill due to bec’s loyalty

THIS IS WHAT THE REFRANCE (foreshadowing)

jack noir killed john on his quest bed which allowed him to ascend to god tier. then he killed john AGAIN but it wasn’t a heroic or just death so john was revived

jack killed grimdark rose. john smooched rose’s corpse, allowing her to take over on derse.

jack killed dave by redirecting jade’s bullets into dave’s body instead. jade smooched dave’s corpse, allowing him to take over on derse.

after jade shoots him through jack, he’s down for the count. she kisses him and he wakes up on derse; all he and rose have left of “themselves” in an existential sense are their dreamselves. they didnt know they were going to ascend to god tier delivering the tumor. they assumed they were just going to die like for real and not come back which is why dave went with rose since he didnt want her to die alone.

it was also an important point since her time spent with dave on lofaf is the first in-person contact jade has had with another living human since she was probably 4 years old with her grandpa.

for jack noir, we got [s] seer: desend and [S] ==> (3696) which were hella impactful. seeing jade and dave essentially go through the same thing but with an extended battle sequence honestly kinda warrants a flash in my mind. (the sad thing is that unite synchronization was originally written with those pages in mind (the track was originally called redshift) but of course malcolm brown couldnt have known what was going to happen unless hussie commissioned him for a specific track for a specific story beat, probably like whatever he did to coordinate cascade’s music with toby ahead of the 10/25/11 release of the flash and publication of volume 8 on bandcamp)

i think one of the worst parts is that entire conversations were referenced, but cut or never written.

this is a real forgotten homestuck fact: jade was completely freaking out after filling dave with bullets until karkat had talked her through it. very easily forgotten since even though it being referenced twice we never actually saw the conversation. (i overrode the black scratch background so it's easier to read)

wow thats so crazy i as a member of the audience dont in fact remember! would it have killed to write it my guy

and we find out thousands of pages later dave was thinking more about how it wouldve made jade feel to watch him die than knowing he was about to fucking die. if you even care btw

3. Davesprite and Grimbark Jade

davesprite—an extension of dave himself—dates jade but breaks up because he feels inadequate at being the dave that he thinks jade deserves. NOT because they fought or anything. they were still on good terms. davesprite just felt inherently unlovable. john seemed more upset about the breakup frankly.

what davesprite did was because he thought it was in jade's best interest. there is nothing to suggest it was a fight / clash break up. they still seemed to be on good terms, davesprite asking where she went and all. jade says the breakup “is complicated” and “hes going through a lot of stuff”. given the context i think it's reasonable to assume that davesprite's thought process was: “we're coming up to the new session soon and youre going to meet up with dave again and i dont want to make shit awkward with you dating knockoff dave. you deserve to be with real dave instead so im gonna cut what we have going here in advance and distance myself from your life”

jade probably protested about saying how he's just as real as “real dave”, but davesprite made his decision already. im sure it wasnt easy for davesprite to break up either. with emotions running high (sadness, not anger) he probably just left to be alone and distance himself from jade, and seems to harbor guilt about it as we see in the log. that's probably why he wasn't at john's movie party. this is just speculation on my part but it doesnt seem in character for the breakup to be explosive because jade seemed more understanding than john. sad, but understanding.

i feel like a lot of people forget this. grimbark jade made it seem like davesprite did it to hurt her, or for this to mean that dave and jade are not actually good for each other, which is a wild mischaracterization of what happened but the one that stuck with the fandom nonetheless.

not only that, but davesprite's existence tragic and he's understandably depressed. after spending about a year in sburb (accounting for time travel) without john or jade, only to go back and give up your personhood to advance the alpha timeline and become forgotten is fucking crushing, and i think the breakup is also about davesprite coming to terms with that trauma, being okay with his existence as a sprite instead of being a bootleg stand-in for the dave that jade knew.

basically what vintagegamebro says,

it was such a tragic way for them to part for 3 years with no communication, and it was only proceeded by more tragedy because jade then had no one but davesprite to turn to, and davesprite needed anything but romance at that point

grimbark jade isn’t a good reflection of jade’s actual self. she pushed the mayor into lava for fucks sake which normal jade would never dream of doing, grimbark jade is straight up unhinged. i’m sure jade was hurt because all breakups hurt, but it was blown out of proportion (see how calm she was above a few days after the breakup?) because of Evilness. but also as @vintagegamebro mentioned it also felt somewhat … “off”? or out of left field? especially seeing what the nature of the breakup was from both sides in the above screenshots.

when dave says “theres no way i would have done that to you” i genuinely believe him. i have no reason not to believe him. look at him above asking for questions and clarification. thinking about how what davesprite did, a version of himself beyond his control and how it reflects on himself, i think it's obvious dave cares a lot about how jade feels about him

even after this confrontation in the game over timeline, dave laid down his fucking life to defend her corpse from the becs in he hope she could be revived by jane

and to think that after all this he still chose to save her, like always, probably knowing he had little to no chance, just because he cares for her, her life and who she is beyond this moment, really meant a lot for them. i really, really was mad that this would be the last time they would truly ever be together in a way that to me mattered

Hey friend, I am absolutely rotating the HECK out of Hunger AU rn. I just binged all of the tagged posts and I'm going FERAL! Watchers being like parasitic wasps? Listeners being like fungi? Absolutely based takes.

I'm very much a fan of the emotional realism going on and I'm so terrified of Angry!Mumbo. Like. Bro doesn't get all that angry that often those folks are the scariest properly pissed.

And I relate far too much to the Search Party tbh. Something about the themes of mental and physical illness, wanting to help but not knowing how, the one you want to help not wanting help at this point, the resentment that causes on both sides of that stalemate... yeah I've been there.

Also, I am insanely curious about the ecological niche that Watchers and Listeners fulfill. Like. There has to be a reason they are the way they are. I'm insanely curious about what the environment they evolved in looked like, and even more curious as to what they provide back to the universe in return.

Like. Irl most wasps are predatory insects, controlling the population of pests and invasive species, but the tidbits you've given us about how they feed on emotions and the groups they feed on put me more in mind of, like, herding dogs. Yknow? Does that make sense? Gathering players together and moving them away from half abandoned worlds to let them dissolve back into the greater code. Maybe interviening in virus-infected worlds or virus-vulrable worlds, encouraging those players to move or perish.

And Listeners, well, fungi occupy so many diverse niches they could do just about anything, really. It's very fun to think about and I am rotating them vigorously, thank you for feeding us so well <3

This is such a sweet ask i am so 🥺🥺🥺🥺 abt it, im really pleased that you're enjoying the emotional realism ive committed to for this fic, because thats just such an important aspect for me-- my goal here is to depict a deeply emotional, moving, and messy situation about illness and recovery where no one's feelings are punished or demonized by the narrative. Its just so, so important to me that the Search Party (and later on, the other hermits) get their emotions properly respected and explored. Its not just about Grian, even if he is the ultimate focus-- everyone else deserves varied, emotional responses to an ugly and terrifying situation where theres hurt on all sides. This is the kind of realism i love putting in all of my writing, and the kind of justice i want to do for all characters in stories like these!!

Its a little funny how this au originally started with me brainrotting absently about Watcher biology because i wanted to explore the idea of Grian pretending to be an avian and finding certain aspects of it deeply uncomfortable. And then it just. Snowballed into this!! And now i am chewing on worldbuilding for breakfast DKXNSJDJ im really glad you enjoy the Watchers and Listeners lore!!! I need to make a proper post on Devs (or dev crystals, as theyre actually called), as well as general code structure, bc they are both so fucking cool as well

I absolutely love your herding dog analogy, and its giving me some great ideas because for the longest time i couldnt quite figure out what exactly a Watcher's ecological niche was beyond predator to Players and prey for something else that's extinct. But now im really looking at the connection between Watchers feeding habits and Players' biological need for play (or dreams, if you want to get into the minecraft end poem of it all), and theres something there that i really wanna take some time to tease out before i give a concrete answer. I need to update my hunger au masterlist LOL i am saur behind 😭

Eliazer [Part two? 🤨]

Yes! Eliazer has an AU counter part! Hes used for another one of my friends D&D camp and while they're the same person, their backstories and apperinces are different, This Eliazer is tweaked for my friends world since their logic works a bit different [looking at you @warriorblood1] Here he is anyway! [long post ahead much lore yes yes]

For the sake of the post, and the fact i already have shown off OG Eliazer, this Eliazers nickname is Eli! [and if you havent seen the post, OG Eliazers nickname is just E lol]

I'll go ahead and list off their differences first becuase its easier and then get into detail about Elis spesific traits

Eli starts traveling a year or two before E does [yes i dont know their exact age sue me]

Eli had to actually die to "activate" his aasimar traits, so he died in the spell-explostion that E was merely burnt by!

Because Eli didn't know he was an aasimar/didnt get his traits until later in life, theyre still developing! hence the natural ginger hair turning white, the yellow eyes, and the smaller wings [this also means he cant control his wings super well and they react with his emotions and subconcious a lot more then E's do, so if he gets spooked his wings shoot out hehe]

Elis home town in now in the middle of Fuck All No Where: Woods edition

Instead of having A toxic goddess, he actually follows a goddess of the people, she loves and considers all her children! but he is in a loyalist town to a toxic empress who is dead... maybe.... ill talk more about this later

Eli's patner is a fire genasi! [rip krevin] and Eli just doesnt know whats happened to him! i dont even know whats happened to him! he could be dead! sadly i dont intend on showing the fire genasi off, even though he has a super cool character design, because when i first made his design it was with this chibi base and while the base works for average people with minimal character traits to their physique [and to quickly get character design out of the way] it doesnt for someone whos supposed to be pretttttttty buff,,, so im gonna try to find better bases so i can learn from them like i do now!

Wow! thats all i can really think of? there are other small things like Eli isnt as flirty or sexually active as E or that Eli snuck out of his home town without telling anyone thats all pretty low on the level of importance

the biggest thing to say is that Elis hammer is a courting gift from his lost lover since hes a weapon smith and that his cloak is stolen from his mother when he snuck out at night

Anywho! the summary of his story issss,,, Eli spent a lot of his time in the woods surrounding his village becuase he was an outcast, he may not have been an aasimar at the time but he showed excelent signs of being a good healer so two of the priestesses started teaching him the way of his goddess and some healing spells and other religous things. this pulled him out of school from a young age so he never learned to read or write. he also blindly followed everything that was told to him, making everyone else in the town think he was incredibly nieave and gullable and kinda outcasting him more.

When Elis lost lover came to town he was completely foreign and not very welcomed, no one wanted to hang around a fire genasi in the middle of the woods. But Eli, having learned to treat everyone equally and with kindess from his goddess, encouraged the towns people to just let him stay a few nights.

and then a few nights turned into a year or so, Eli and his love definently had some kinda of relationship but it was never difined, they just lived day to day and while his love tried to make hints for Eli, Eli didn't really catch on. But near the end of Elis beginning his love kind of opened his eyes? made him question his loyalty to a empress hes never seen. hell his love mentioned a war but Eli has never ever heard of this war.

this is great of course because then the rebles attack his village to try and make sure the loyalists dont try and,,,,,,, kill more people lmfao ANYWAY Eli ends up questioning his whole life after waking up as an aasimar and in a state of panic and paranoia he flees to just literally anywhere and now hes with his life long destiny friends so thats great

the next session will be this saturday im so excited bc sometimes its voiced and i get to do a silly russian accent, this session will be over text but like! now i dont have to focus on maintaining the accent so yippe!

I see you've been making a lot of OC art/posts recently, and they seem really interesting from what you've shared so far, so I was wondering if (or where) I can learn more about them? (No pressure if you're not done with their stories yet, but if there's anything you'd like to share, I'd be interested to hear it!)

hi!!! so theres no place to learn more because i havent worked out most of the story and worldbuilding in a concrete way yet but heres some basic info and fun facts i can give yall now:

it takes place in 1980's soviet lithuania in a secret research facility with the security of a missile launch base (like literally because im basing most of the security around the cold war museum in lithuania)

most of the stuff surrounding the facility is like an absurdist satire on soviet nomenclature, bureaucracy and compartmentalization

the scientists are all divided into departments and are blindly following orders from the higher-ups without having much of a clue on what sort of man-made horror theyre creating

the facility is made up on one normal ground floor and a ridiculous amount of underground floors that hold more important creations and departments the deeper it goes. going any deeper than is allowed by your higher-ups is ridiculously difficult (its sorta like trying to get into the castle in "the castle" by kafka)

the archivist character is based on an unhinged man in my town that looks and acts like jesus and everyone calls (town name)'s jesus. his personality is wildly different, i just based his appearance on him because ive been looking for a reason to paint our jesus for years now

most of the main characters are queer! (a lesbian couple thats had their shit together since uni and a messy gay couple that just met a few years ago and figured out their feeling even later)

also fun fact lina and arvydas are sibling! arvydas is older by 2-3 years

you can also listen to the character playlists ive made for the main 4 on spotify! its music that reminds me of them, not music they would listen to lol (although most of them would fuck with the smiths if they managed to get some of their music)

it would take me 5 business days to explain their characters so this is easier at the moment lol

So yeah it looks like Donna and Shaun have a kid. Theyre supposed to be in the 60th anniversary specials this November. I'm reserving judgment til we see them in action.

Thoughts on Shaun are… I wish he'd been a character. Russell wrote in his book that he wanted Donna happy and married and having a family, but there's a lot of stuff going on in Ten's last episodes and there's just no room to be like "Okay here's Shaun Temple and he's an interesting fleshed out person and this is why we should root for Donna to be with him." Like, Lance was a character (an arsehole, but a character.) Even Lee, her husband in the Library, still got some characterisation!

But there's so much (more important!) story going on in The End of Time (with the Master and the Doctor's relationship, and the Time Lords, and Wilf and Ten getting to be old men together which is seriously some of the best television in all the television. I love Wilf sfm, god rest Sir Bernard Cribbins) that it's just not worth the time it would take to properly introduce him. Even Donna is barely in it and is mostly there to show how much the Doctor is hurting without her. So Shaun doesn't get any time to do anything of note and he's basically a cardboard cutout.

I'm of the opinion that in cases like that, you cast a well-known actor bc they bring enough of their own charisma to the part by just being there. Hell, I would've cast another comedian and actually given Shaun a scene with Donna so we got a coupley vibe off them. But again-- the entire point of Donna being there is that she's not actually there. She's there to be in the background so David Tennant can look sad. (and he does it so well. i love that scene in the cafe where he breaks down bc i am a bad sad awful person who likes big angst >:B)

uhhhh headcanons… i don't know that i actually have many. most of my little ideas are nebulous soup until i fashion them into fic.

I LOV remind blue. like every kagepro song makes me want to rip my face off ♥️♥️♥️ but this one is one of those that make me feel so strongly that i cant listen to it ♥️♥️♥️ cuz i do that btw. i cannot listen to kagepro songs without preparing myself emotionally and it has to be when i am alone in my room. i could never listen to them in public. that'd be weird. im drawing and suddenly a kagepro song comes on in my playlist and im like this is so fucked up who put this here (<- i did)

i dont particularly care for remind blue so much (LIKE THE SONG SLAPS im still talking about lyrics) bc it's very heavy on the shit abt like growing distant and stuff sortof??? like kagepros ending/str is implied to have the mekadan not grow apart but kinda do their own thing while still meeting to hang out, bc kagepro is also about growing up and with growing up comes maybe growing distant from these friends you love, but they will always be important and one of a kind in ur life and when u meet its like time hasnt rly passed between you. not to mention the whole thing about combining eyes and how all the snakes will always end up gathering by the queen no matter what, meaning the dan will always be bound to make their ways back to each other no matter what, and are connected to one another by the literal narrative that theyre all actually sort of aware of a little bit (they always refer to their tragedy as a "story"..kagepro is a little meta lol). and like that's all so beautiful but also fuck it. they all meet for pizza nights every week. erm. the passage of time am i right

and the response i'll give here is a response i think i gave for another q i answered a while back (and that i cannot find JHVKSJDHF) that was along the same lines, it asked smthng like: which pairing is the best endgame

my answer: any of em! all of em! none of em! but lemme explain

on an story/character analysis level: every pairing between mc and respective boy comes with its strengths and its flaws. every pairing has certain insecurities on either party's end or on both their ends that could spell trouble in the future if not addressed. and yet, every pairing still has the complete potential to weather through those troubles and problems due to the pairing's strengths and also due the general nature of how character/relationship development works. so like, every pairing can become great. and every pairing can crash and burn.

and so ive got a semblance of Something to back this up, lemme use my faves, luke and mc.

theyre wonderful, i adore them so so much. at the current point in their relationship (aka together thru the events of luke's anniv card, SSR Under the Milky Way), it's been shown that mc's hope and determination can cut through luke's tendency towards secrecy and salf-sacrifice, can make luke work harder to be better, to trust, to be honest and let himself love. thats healthy, thats awesome, thats great.

SSR Under the Milky Way also showed that luke has the tendency to backslide into bad habits, even when hes promised to never do that bad habit again (you can read more about it in my ridiculously long analysis of that card here jhsvkjfh). if that continues in a relationship, thats unhealthy, thats counter-productive, thats not great.

now thats just one (1) thing in one (1) pairing. theres so much more for luke/mc, and each of the pairings? theyve all got traits, patterns, and tendencies that can either work in their favor or be something that can shoot them down. thats among the reasons i love these characters so much, theyve got such awesome strengths and such deep flaws.

they all have the potential to be the "best", and they all have the potential to be the "worst", so i feel as trying to figure out who is which would either be impossible or would have to ignore a Bunch of stuff important to the story and the characters to reach a conclusion.

now, on a personal level: i just dont like the idea of any kind of "ranking" of ships! thats just how i am. cuz my general philosophy on relationships and romance and love is, like i said, filled with the potential to either go great or go south. actually, past romance, this is true. every relationship, romantic or platonic or familiar, boils down to the choices one makes when faced with problems, change, and growth

in conclusion: while ive got my own personal fave ships, i dont think i'll ever want to take an analysis lens to see what ship is the "best" cuz

1) i dont think i can answer that with the canon we've currently got and the nature of how these stories are still ongoing and thus, are subject to change and filled with potential for either "best" or "worst. and

2) it's just not my style cuz im a hopeless romantic that believes anything can be good if people work on it with their all

First impression: baby. little cutiepie whom i love. smol murder machine go brrrr Impression now: still a murder machine but Way angrier. stab first, think later, never apologize. this vessel can fit So much trauma in it JKBKJBKJ Favorite moment: honestly i have No idea. i dont know if theres a specific favorite moment i have for them, because theres a lot that made me like them as a character to begin with, but also like. my interpretation of them is Very canon divergent, so sfkjghjks Idea for a story: i have a whole fucking au, here's the link Unpopular opinion: i stand by the idea that ghost is old as balls. while i thoroughly enjoy kid ghost content, i just cannot look at them myself and see them as a child? their body may be that of one, but theyre definitely at least a few decades old, which. automatically puts them in Not A Kid territory for me. i know some people are really adamant on calling ghost a child because of the in game dialogue but,,, id rather they Not be a child. please and thank you. sjgkhjkjks Favorite relationship: no <3 though i think about them with their siblings a lot Favorite headcanon: i headcanon them as loveless! it just,, feels right for them, idk. im actually a lovequeer aro, so im a little out of my depth here, but. yeah. they just seem like the type to identify with that

Broken Vessel/Lost Kin

First impression: ah fuck a boss fight. fuck shit fuck shit fuck fuck FUCK STOP HITTING ME WITH YOUR INFECTION BLOBS. im ddarking you to death Impression now: YOOOOUUUUUU ARE MY AAANGGGEEEEEEEEELLLLLLL I WANNA HOLD YOUR HAND AND KISS YOUR FOREHEAD Favorite moment: its not necessarily a 'favorite' moment per se? but the ending of the lost kin fight would probably be it. them reaching out after dying in the broken vessel fight is heartbreaking enough, but the fact that unlike the other dream battles, you dont get to 'listen' to them. the prompt is 'accept.' and that really got to me my first playthrough—still does, tbh—and coupled with the fact they wordlessly bow to you before shattering into 400 essence, i cried for like 10 minutes after beating them the first time. theres probably something to be said about acceptance in hollow knight, and how ghost killed their sibling not once, but twice to finally lay them to rest, but im not gonna put the thought in to word that right now Idea for a story: once again, i have a whole ass au! specifically for lheki though, i have a post-dreamless story idea involving them, ghost, and orchid (greenpath vessel), where the latter two sneak into probably the lab lheki's working in and break something important. im not sure yet, but they break Something, and lheki goes full older sibling rage mode on them sgjkhjk i like sibling shenanigans :D Unpopular opinion: unsure how unpopular this is, but i personally view them as the oldest vessel of the four. its my way of explaining why they're taller than ghost, and also ive melded their personality into that role now rip Favorite relationship: no <3 Favorite headcanon: suddenly realizing i might be conflating opinion with headcanon but uhhhh whatever. anyway they're the science vessel, because yes. they're the most logically attuned of the four vessels, and they like helping out in the archives as well as doing sciencey stuff with monomon and quirrel. i will not be taking criticism,

The Hollow Knight/Pure Vessel

First impression: OH GOD HELP SHIT FUCK SIBLING STOP STABBING ME AAAAA WHY ARE YOU SO FA S T (i honestly wasnt thinking much about them as a character in the moment lol) Impression now: damn, move a little faster will you. i know youve been stuck here rotting for centuries, but your godhome equivalent is so much faster i keep dashing into you. character wise though? HRFRYURBGRBHJGGRRBHJRBHJGGRHJB BAAAABYY I WILL GIB KI S S Favorite moment: honestly? all of the pure vessel fight. its still one of my favorites, even if its not a moment per se sfkjgkjasks Idea for a story: au! au!!!!! au!!!!!! i do also have a different idea that specifically features glimmer (their dreamless name) and its kinda just cozy moments post-dreamless (with a smidgen of angst). i cant say much because this idea has lots of spoilers, rip, but its cute. i think Unpopular opinion: they're the youngest! for similar reasons stated in the broken vessel section, but the other way around; at least with dreamless lore, they were selected after lheki was discarded, after a bunch of other 'failed' vessels. so by default they have to be the youngest. also its fun to have the 'youngest sibling is the tallest' dynamic askjfgj Favorite relationship: n o < 3 Favorite headcanon: i dump all my chronic pain and chronic illness stuff on them because they are a Very convenient slate for that. theres so many ways you could take it?? like phantom limb pain and also nerve pain in general for their severed arm, the cracks through their eye probably impact their vision somehow, the scarring on their torso is definitely going to impact Something, and i also subscribe to the idea that holly's growth was unnatural and forced, which caused them to grow faster than they should have and also made them taller and bigger than they otherwise would be, which is a longwinded way to say full body chronic pain! because they never shouldve grown this fast! :D

Hornet

First impression: i vividly remember that my first thought upon seeing her was 'SISSA!!!!!' because i'd watched a few hollow knight related things after my friend suggested the game to me. so i went into the game with a little bit of background information, particularly with the main sibling trio. also she was just cool Impression now: SISSAAAAAAAAAA who also has a lot of trauma that she has yet to work through <3 pointy and angry because of said trauma, but fundamentally a very caring person Favorite moment: do i have to pick one? hornet herself is always a favorite moment gjkhKJJKS yeah idfk man Idea for a story: im just going to keep mentioning my au. everyone's in there. please check it out /gen i Also happen to have ideas for hornet pov chapters. i just have lots of ideas. mainly theyre just scenes that i want to rewrite from her perspective because i think itd be interesting sdsdkjjks Unpopular opinion: i personally view her as pretty touch averse, which seems to be like. nonexistent among the broader fanon of her. she's had to close herself off for a very long time, and i think while she'd still like physical affection to an extent, it's foreign and a little uncomfortable for her to indulge and engage in that affection, and not all of it is from the trauma she has to work through. its also just overwhelming to her to be grabbed in hugs and stuff; she and glimmer/holly worked out a way to show affection without hugs, and part of it is horn clinking! i havent figured out much more beyond that though, aside from the fact that ghost keeps forgetting hornet doesnt like hugs sfkgjhjks Favorite relationship: im just going to keep saying no for this row because i dont really give a shit about shipping, and i think the sibling dynamics are far more interesting to play around with. i see lacenet, i think its cool, but also i dont care and dont really understand. yall have fun though Favorite headcanon: ive mentioned this in other posts as well, but i really like the idea of her having a little. like. spinneret on her rear end. i havent seen anyone go with this depiction of her, which is,,, a little startling considering she Clearly uses silk, and she has to get it somehow? and she is a spider after all, so i like the idea of her making her own silk which she collects. the problem is i dont know how to draw it :(

Quirrel

watched all of the untamed / cql in two weeks after my friend 1 told me abt mdzs a hundred years ago and my friends 2 and 3 tried to get me into cql for like two whole years and there are.

It establishes Good Student lan wangji, wei wuxian as curious and questioning and not afraid of taboo, lwj sees that wwx is not, in fact, a dumb ass hes just a Dumbass, shows us the audience (esp. a western audience) how shocking the idea of disrupting the dead/dying and controlling resentful energy actually is, the theoretical foreshadow arguing, everyone else like ‘shUT UP’, “and how could you ensure that the resentful energy would obey you and not hurt other?” “well i havent thought that far” and of course, lan qiren just straight up lobbing a hard object at wwx head,. chefs kiss

wwx like... having thrown his whole life away to help the wens (yeah the sect leaders and jin guangshan in particular wanting his stygian tiger amulet was an Element but still) and not.... necessarily regretting it, but grappling with all of the consequences of it... becoming moody and drepressed at times, missing his family and lotus pier and his friends and probably simply missing being around people and causing trouble, extrovert that he is, lashing out at the wens and at a-yuan, just in general the whole messiness of that experience

the way the resentful energy does affect his temperament is rly nice bc its not too in your face,(i mean outside of the Shaky Hands of Rage) but like he clearly has a much lesser control on his anger and impulsivity (tall order) than both before bm and after hes ressurected

unsurprisingly, his most feral, most spiraling moment talking to the sect leaders on the roof and attacking them and even fighting lan zhan is among my favorite scenes... its like, so painful to watch but also so thrilling (and maybe my wen bbs dying arose some resentful energy in me what can i say)

and its JUST, all they ever wanted was to do good but then... war. and trauma. and hubris.

jiang cheng on the ground clearly thorn between what to do and feel is a Mood, lets just say

i was already crying when jyl showed up, but if i wasnt-

i suffered SO MUCH through this series trying to figure out WHY jc would kill wwx. and when i understood. its somehow not as bad as i thought and also MUCH MUCH WORSE

and jiang cheng. being the tough love uncle . having raised the yunmeng jiang clan from the rubble all alone, his whole family dead, some of it on the blame of his own brother, his siblings, his closest friends gone.......and only jin ling there needing his guidance.

THE PARALLEL BETWEEN JIN LING BEING A LIFELINE FOR JIANG CHENG AND A-YUAN FOR LAN WANGJI AFTER THE BATTLE AT THE NIGHTLESS CITY

and like . the fact! that lwj and jc dislike each other!!. jc projects blame onto him for wwx both “leaving” him and indirectly causing their families deaths and when hes so consumed by it he makes wwx an enemy, lwj is there now? trying to protect him?? and lwj, who can never understand the pain that wwx , indirectly or not put jc through, but who was right there when jc tried to kill him and will never allow him to hurt wwx again. and how they like. in a way project blame of their tragedies onto each other while dealing with some type of survivor guilt and in their own way still loving wwx through it all??? amd in way its kind of fundamentally selfish but also tragically understandable? and like when u put it against the fact that after he disappears during the sunshot campaign they were looking for him together and fought together??

JUST. THE CHARACTERS. AND THE RELATIONSHIPS IN THIS. MAN. UGH. GOD.

and like i think thats what makes it so good? its such a sad and painful and violent story, edgy even, but its compelling bc at the center of it there are all of these relationships and different types of love and hope and. :( i love it

babie cultivator squad is the perfect ammount of cute and comedic relief while still bearing the weight? of the narrative in a way, both from sizhui and jin lings existences, and also. like. how do i put this. they feel hopeful? they were born after a war, they came of age at a time of relative peace, they dont hold on so closely to the resentments of their parents/father figures, they are specifically shown as more accepting and open minded. and its like.... Hope for the future

one of the ?? things i love the most is the fact that the main cast are often in situations where theyre hunted/running but they like. never wear disguises... just going around in their gorgeous expensive clan clothes and hair ornaments and distinctive spiritual weapons.... maybe w a straw hat on, just for kicks

Toshinori tracks down a series of letters that only now, years later, does he appreciate for their significance. I always love the thought of All Might looking through his fan mail, even if he can’t get to all of it. This was a wonderful glimpse into that AND it was made to be so, so personal and sweet. Go have some heart-healing fluff.

Growing Pains by LordofLies (tumblr: @theangelofchildren ) Rating: G Category: Gen ~5,900 words Summary: Izuku finds himself changed by his encounter with the Hero Killer, but changes of a more physical kind are in store for him as he begins to truly accept One for All as his own. Once, he would have been thrilled to look more like All Might, but now those connections are as much a source of anxiety as they are of pride.Or, Izuku wakes up one morning and sees the world through different eyes. Izuku having anxiety and Toshi being there to help him through it and calm him down? Sign me UP. Its also a pretty cool take on how One for All is able to change things about it’s holder. Could this happen in cannon? Who knows.... Regardless, it was a great read!

I’ll Carry You Home by Renesvetta Rating: G Category: Gen ~2,700 words Summary: While training with All Might, it wasn’t uncommon for Izuku to be so exhausted at the end of the day that he unwittingly fell asleep without regard for where he was. It consequently became part of All Might’s routine to help his young protégé home. During that time, Izuku may have let loose more than one sleepy confession towards his mentor. Yes, it is as adorable as it sounds. Its tagged with “self indulgent Dad Might fluff” which is both accurate and appreciated. In other words: Superb you funky little writer!

Simple Gifts by QuizzicalCrow Rating: G Category: Gen ~6,700 words Summary: One year ago, Izuku received the greatest gift he could ever imagine. Now he’s determined to return the favor for the one responsible for it all with a gift of his own. First off, I love the idea of Izuku and Toshi quietly celebrating the anniversary of passing on OfA from All Might to Izuku. Even just taking the day to hang out with each other. It’s a really precious idea. But there’s not just fluff! Izuku finds himself in a fight, again. (cool villain quirk, too!) I love all of the small details that are in this fic (and in Crow’s other works, too!) anyway its exciting AND very heartwarming, so go read it!!!

The reactions he gets for that are not quite the ones he had anticipated - well, not all of them, at least. Toshi is LOVED, APPRECIATED, and 1A feels like HOME. how many times can i say “cute” and “heartwarming” on this post?? bc these are some amazing writers, whom I adore, and their writing makes my heart WARM. AND. FUZZY. i mean, even just the first few paragraphs of this one just, really sets the scene of what i like to believe the 1A dorm is (on a good day, lol). its a really nice read, so go treat yo’ self by reading it.

paint me in trust by dinomight Rating: G Category: Gen ~6,400 words Summary: The first mark Izuku gets is a slight brush of green across his temple. It’s the soft touch of a mother holding her son for the first time. Inko has one to match, the same shade of green staining the tips of her fingers. Hers is more noticeable; Izuku’s tends to blend into his hairline. He loves it anyways. He has to. It’s the only soulmate mark he has. (Or: how Izuku goes from just green to a rainbow, UA-style.) Ok, so this fic sort of plays off the idea of soulmates, and does not fit in with soulmates in the usual form of the trope. First off its completely platonic. Its categorized as Gen and sticks to that. Also it doesn’t seem to be as obligatory and permanent as you would think it would be. It seems to be more of the universe telling you who has the possibility of being important in your life. I really really loved this, it was so adorable and gives you that sweet, sweet Izuku angst, before healing your heart with the power of friendship and found family!!!

First off, this fic has spoilers for the manga, so dont read unless you’re past chp212! I loooooooove OfA reveal fics, especially when it’s Aizawa that finds out. He deserves to know!!! its kind of important!!!! This fic chooses a great moment to work off of, and does a great job with Aizawa’s character. I really enjoyed it and couldn’t keep myself from going back and reading it just now LOL

Now that the actual recs are over I can rant here- look i really tried to slim my recs down, but i have almost 300 bnha fics bookmarked,some of them are “to read” or theyre in progress, etc but i managed to get this list sorta slimmed down? a little?(to only 58!!!) but as i was gathering this post together it felt like i dont have very many Dadmight recs on that list??? but i havent rechecked all the other fics i was just going through the oneshots. i... kinda read a lot more fics with AIzawa in it instead. it be that way. DadMight content is SO GOOD. but my fav is aizawa im sorryyyyy anyway i have another SEVENteeN oneshots to put in rec posts and that does NOT include the mulitchapter and friikin series and stuff... and like i said this is aaaaaaallllllllllllllll BnHA. batfam fic posts will come after, and then star wars, and then maybe star trek? we’ll see. i have a very specific taste in ST fics and that is Tarsus IV whump. which. i have not read in a while. when they say “that trope came from ST” for sooooooo many tropes, you WISH other fandoms had tarsus as a trope, holy crap it is TOP TIER angst fodder. if you love to write/read whump, angst, and h/c i would HIGHLY recommend that you take a bit of time and explore the content and stories there. heck maybe i will make a ficrec post for just tarsus angst. ok.

Hello fellow bioshockers (can’t help being cringe, sorry), I know I’ve not really been gone or anything but I’ve been getting progressively worse at being present and responsive since probably the tail-end of 2019. I’m not bold enough to assume you’ve noticed, but I thought I’d spill my guts anyway because it’s super rude of me to kinda just creep about on here being as socially constipated as I have been and not explaining myself. Even ruder that I always talk about improving on this but never change.

I hope this turns out comprehensible because I’m just gonna type this out without overthinking for once :’’’D

I’ll try to keep this short and sweet lol (won’t happen). I’ve got a big ol’ case of social anxiety that somehow got worse online than it ever was in real life. This is probably because it’s so much easier to overthink when interacting with people online because you get the chance to overthink before you press send or post. This is more relevant on this account than my others, because the bioshock community is just so lovely and nice enough to send me hilarious and interesting and thought-provoking asks (which I love so so so much), and I inflict this irrational pressure on myself to answer with something interesting in return. And because of this I end up thinking too much and leaving it too late to answer, when really just an acknowledgement that i’ve read and thought about what you’ve said would probably suffice. Would be a lot less shitty of me than just not answering at all.

All this has gotten to the point where I’m filled with dread and guilt whenever I post something and usually end up deleting 5 mins later to ease my mind. Which I know rationally is silly. It’s just a post that people will either read or scroll past and get on with whatever else theyre doing.

I also have this terrible mentality where I believe that eventually anyone who interacts with me enough will start to hate me or I’ll bore/annoy them and become a bother and I don’t want to ruin the friendship I have with them,,, like I want to freeze the relationship at the point it is at and never taint it. But that just means I ruin potential friendships because I just don’t give anything to work with. But at the same time I love socialising, I love what you guys have to say you’re all so funny and clever! I wish I could know you without you having to know me but that’s not how interaction works and it’s selfish of me to want that. I don’t know why I’m like this when everyone on here has been nothing but supportive (aside from the people who called me a fascist for drawing fontaine but that’s a story for another time)

In the past this is something I could keep on top of, but since the end of 2019 things in my family life got hard to cope with, but necessarily, I think (there’s comfort in that) and that became more urgent than anything else. But recently, something happened that shocked and scared me enough to bring me back down to earth, and all my previous worries seem so trivial now. Like, why the hell am I so scared of logging into a tumblr account? Why am I ruining something that I enjoy and brings me a lot of comfort in these trying times? I know this sounds silly and I don’t mean to make what happened about me or my fuckin bioshock blog lol. It’s just that comfort is really important and we should indulge in it where possible.

Also, I miss the fuck out of everyone on here.

Anyway, sorry about this big boohoo essay amidst worldwide struggle. I also just want to mention that despite my blubbering you don’t have to walk on eggshells around me. You can be as mean and sarcastic to me as you want, I won’t take that as you hating me. In fact, I’d take that as a sign that you feel comfortable enough to be mean and sarcastic with me which is great! :’’D

things ive already established r on this post

besties this got so fucking long but heres a giant ramble about cherri

okay so. there are huge differences betwn cherri as a hyperviolent drac hunter and cherri as a friend of the four and cherri as the girls mentor. with the first one he was 17 and desperate to distance himself from his upbringing so he went all in on Being A Killjoy. he was always one of the first ppl to rush into a fight and he fought hard. he blew up his fuckin hand with that attitude. and all the while he was just racking up more unaddressed trauma and eventually he ran away from that, too. giving himself radiation poisoning was more appealing than facing his problems.

so as a teenager/young adult hes kind of constantly in a panicked state. hes scared the people from his past are going to find him and drag him back with them. so he lashes out and he runs away over and over again.

i said in another post that he has some past life shit goin on which usually would give him a connection to the witch that manifests early in life, but with all the stuff hes gone through he has been Preoccupied. he can become oblivious to almost anything that doesnt apply to whatever hes focused on. not in a hyperfocus way its likeeeeee. when u live on survival mode during prolonged periods of stress. hes immune to magic bullshit bc hes too tired and scared.

anyways around his mid-20s he finally has a little more stability (as much as the average person living in the zones can have, that is) and he finally notices that Weird Stuff happens around him. basically: out of my list of Powers People Connected To The Witch Have he has the prophetic dreams/enhanced intuition as well as a form of sensing ghosts where he can see auras and kind of like, echoes of past events in ppls lives. that look like auras. itz complicated and not of utmost importance so im leaving it at that.

anyways thats what makes him start writing poetry. just 4 funsies he'll describe his weird experiences and embellish them to make em pretty. just as a casual hobby n all that.

he would forget fun ghoul in between the times they ran into each other but its pretty easy to be reminded of who fun ghoul is. the most insane 10 year old cherri has ever met. cherri isnt a brother figure to ghoul. hes just. his friend that happens to be more than twice his age. its whatever lmao

to cherri, ghoul is kinda like a stray animal he keeps seeing. which is hilarious. ghoul actually goes and finds him to introduce him to jet when they start running together, and cherri meets party and kobra (spark and birdie at the time) when he drives the four of them to a party. because he has a truck hell yeah. so now instead of one stray animal he has, like, a feral cat colony that he drives around occasionally. i have no real-life human relationship equivalent to them because irl if some guy that is not related to any of you and isnt even a childhood or family friend and theyre hanging out with you? they are usually not a safe person lmao. but this is my fantasy land and im too stubborn to change anyones birth years even though ghoul being born in 2004 makes everything really hard to make not creepy.

so yeah hes a casual somewhat friend of the fab four. hed probably get more and more concerned as they got famous. the beginnings of any sort of protective feelings, awww :) that sets him up for becoming the girls mentor.

OH FUCK. THE GIRL..... i think if i was in my late 20s and i heard that the gang of 13-17 year olds had adopted a 5 year old kid i would go bananas. what the fuck. it is a LONG while before cherri meets her. but he has the strongest affection for ghoul (if you could even call it that) and ghoul absolutely adores the girl and swings her around under her arms like a cat to show her off to cherri and its very endearing and the girl is sweet and funny so its easy to be around her. and (unfortunately) she is somewhat used to interacting with weird easily agitated people so she kinda gives him space. cherri isnt quite the uncle figure the fandom usually makes him (i luv uncle cherri sm but he simply cannot exist in the universe ive created, f), but hes a little similar.

and then the four had to go and pretend to die. lol.

when the girl was kidnapped, fucking everyone who knew her was ready to storm the city then and there. like regardless of how little you knew her, if you had ever met her you would fucking die for her. she is pure childish charisma and shes precious. i love the girl. so cherris immediately on board with whatever plan the four make to get her back. ive already talked abt how it fucked up the girl tho; there was no way to tell her that the four werent actually dead, she sees the building collapse and she shuts down. and cherri has to fight against his instinct to leave the radio station and never come back when he sees an eight year old girl sitting dissociated on the couch. that fucks everyone up.

i just realized i havent talked about literally anyone else at the radio station. i think cherri started lingering around the station bc it was safe and sheltered while also not being a popular spot. there are less kids there (people pass through but its not a hangout spot). he was kind of just hanging around to get away from the heat and noise and dr d took notice. because that man can see ur soul and no one knows if thats literal or not. so theyd chat a few times a day and show pony was the one 2 get him out of his shell a little and also was the first one he mentioned his poetry hobby to. im making this all up right now as im writing bc i dont know anything about LITERALLY any of the ppl associated w the radio like im not even going 2 try with chimp n newsie i do not have the willpower to tackle all that. justttt. cherri pony n D become bros and live 2gether there.

back 2 the regular timeline. the rescue mission happens in 2019. the girl lives at the station until 2023. during that time she is very much depressed and withdrawn and is only happy when the four come to visit. none of the Adults know how to help her so they just keep her safe and cared for and hope she'll open up to them.

she does not. she takes the weird cat thats been hanging around and she runs away.

cherri does not see her for three years. shes still worse for wear in the mental health department and he can see all kinds of visions of what shes been through since the last time he saw her and he fucking hates the ultra vs bc they remind him of his past. he does not want her going down that path but its obvious that she isnt crazy abt the ultraviolence thing either so thats a relief.

they have a kind of tense relationship throughout the comics. he feels like he failed her and that spirals into feeling like he failed the four for not being a good adult to them and fun ghoul for not helping enough when his commune was bombed and all kinds of shit and that irrational thinking mixed with plain old, yknow, caring about the girl, is what makes him take a bullet (laser. whatever) for her.

i was trying to figure out the timing of each of their ghost experiences, but i want both of them to talk to the witch and im just gonna make it like dreams where a whole buncha stuff happens but irl its been like seconds. so its like barely a second while the girl has her Witch Convo and cherri FINALLY gets a straight answer, yes there is weird shit going on with him having powers. he doesnt have any story-significant past lives because im lazy, hes just an old soul. like really fuckin old. the amount of latent life experience and stuff his soul/energy/whatever has picked up along the way makes him VERY noticeable to gods n stuff. he fuckin lights up all the alarms like what the FUCK is that over there. she wasnt rly able to get to him or even properly notice him while he was a kid and a young adult so shes happy to finally see him again. he has a STRONG sense of familiarity with her. they know each other on a wild ass level that he cant really comprehend.

post canon is when he and val get to have the most awkward spiderman meme moment of realizing that they have the same trauma SOOOOO thatz fun lol /s sorry kings i thought it would be fun to give u something fucked up to bond over <3

not much changes in his personality. he has a better understanding of Weird Magic and delights in freaking out the ultra vs but for the most part he returns to his life at the radio station. i love him

dude you got this lingering in my head and i havent been able to complete any other requests bc this one just really got me thinkin so HERE WE GO DJDJDJJD

some of the explanations do include spoilers so be careful ! some of the characters in obey me seem to be a combination of multiple characters from mysme so yea. i've completed mystic messenger but i havent finished the obey me main story yet so everything is based on what i know up until lesson 16.

V (Jihyun)/707/Jumin = Lucifer

lucifer mainly reminds me of V bc they both kept a pretty heavy secret from the other characters out of consideration for their health/feelings

and both secrets were related to faking the death of an important person in everyone's life

both of their secrets only came out when it was practically forced out of them, too.

V, like lucifer, is also the leader figure (but not in a diavolo typa way, yenno)

and theyre both such loyal ppl omg V was literally BLINDED and basically traumatized by rika but he stuck w/ her

and lucifer is equally as loyal to diavolo...but i think hes a bit more sane lololol

lucifer is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay more hostile than V. the way he lashes out at MC reminded me of the way seven lowkey lashes out at MC in his route (iykyk </3)

so yea he and seven both need work on their emotional stability so they can express their feelings better...sHeesh

lucifer's work ethic actually reminds me more of jaehee

physically he definitely looks like jumin

bUT HE ALSO goes along with the exchange program similar to how jumin went along with offering MC a spot in the RFA bc of his trust in V.

all of them (minus seven) are also the eldest in the game

707 (Saeyoung)/Yoosung = Mammon

both of them have a very bubbly and obnoxious personality, but seven uses it mainly as a cover up. i think mammon is genuinely that way, not using it to cover up a backstory as sad as seven's LMAOMAO

i added yoosung only bc both of them are always getting bullied lolololol

and they're both (for lack of better words) the stupid one of the group

hm i actually think mammon is one of the only characters that didn't really remind me of any mysme character when i started playing obey me

but both he and seven seem to be the in-game MC's "true love" based on the way both of them act and are percieved in both games

i could be wrong tho bc in the april fool's dlc zen broke the fourth wall harder than seven ever did. but then again that's also why i said in-game MC not you-the-player MC hsjdjdjd if that makes any sense !

Zen = Asmo

well this one is pretty obvious

both are obsessed with their looks and are lovey dovey

howeVER it looks like asmo's pretty tech-savvy whereas zen is tech-illiterate dmckjxms (esp in v's route....)

both have a wave of fans who freak out over them as well

theyre physically similar too, i think asmo has the longest hair compared to the others

i think everything else is self explanatory LOL

Yoosung = Levi

another super obvious one

they both hole themselves up in their rooms

i think levi might be more emotionally stable than yoosung (common route/casual story yoosung, hes better in his after ending)

also in the ruri-chan event, were those omlettes we collected? it reminded me of yoosung's omurice haha

levi kinda dresses more similar to seven tho

yoosung could also be yandere-ish sh ivers and levi is the avatar of envy so there ya go

i have nothing else everything is self explanatory here too

Jaehee/Yoosung/Jumin = Satan

mainly jaehee and satan resemble one another

both are studious

jaehee's interest in zen's musicals are similar to satan's interest in books and knowledge !

satan also likes dramas so he and jaehee would probably have a fun time watching one of zen's plays

both are also different from the other characters: satan is the only brother who was not previously an angel and jaehee is the only woman in the RFA (minus MC)

hes also similar to yoosung bc yoosung is such a b!tch to V and lucifer resembles V the most (imo)

theyre also the youngest age wise

included jumin bc CATS

satan would absolutely love elizabeth and join jumin in the quest for a universe ran by cats

707(Saeyoung) = Beelzebub

well,

seven and all the honey buddah chips/phd pepper he can consume shares the same energy with beel and all the food in general he can consume

both also are the most similar physically, but beel is probably way bigger than seven :')

i think if seven was in beel's position when lucifer confessed that lillith was turned into a human and lived out the rest of her life, seven would have reacted the exact same to the way beel did

both are amazing brothers, and the way they care for their twin is similar

they also were seperated from their twin and lied to about what happened...my heart hurts :(

at the end of the day theyre both sweethearts who have been through a lot of tough stuff and deserve all the hugs and kisses and snacks in the world uwu

Saeran(Unknown/Ray)/Yoosung = Belphegor

WHEW THE RESEMBLANCE

both saeran and belphegor have been through soooooo much oh goodness

both of them are also hostile to MC at some point in the game, then warm up to MC later

both are also the biggest source of conflict in their respective games (not in a mean way omg they just kinda trigger the chain of events)

i.e unknown leading MC to rika's apartment to "find the owner of the phone"/ray leading MC to mint eye to "test out a game" = belphie meeting MC at the top of the staircase to help break him free

i hope that made sense i dunno

theyre also similar when theyre not hostile to MC

wow yoosung is like...in everyone

the way yoosung reacted to rika actually being alive was pretty similar to the way belphie reacted to hearing about lillith living as a human
