They hold it up to her, and she takes it, peering at it curiously. “A gift,” they sign as she unwraps it. “I made it.”

She lets out a little gasp as she pulls out the wax plant figurine. “Oh, this is lovely.” She pats their head tenderly. “Thank you, Lheki!”

i mean the tldr of my au is that what if Everything, and i mean E v e r y t h i n g, that happened was the pale king’s fault, directly or indirectly. ripple effects and all. the moths got heavily reworked, unn and her greenkin got heavily reworked, deepnest is now called arcleome, the magic system got revamped, etc. there’s a ton of stuff

dreamless isn’t like. fuck canon, these characters are mine, though it is to an Extent. it’s more like taking a character who had a perfectly nice life and going ‘hey what if they grew up in a really shitty environment instead?’ sometimes it winds up completely recharacterizing canon characters (*cough* markoth), sometimes it just gives them more depth, at least in my opinion (hornet). the vessels also get developed a hell of a lot more because i love them and also there needs to be more content about greenpath vessel, please and thank you. the vessels are a quartet now, and with hornet become the sibling quintet. i love the classic sibling trio to bits, but the quintet is where it’s at and you will not change my mind

anyway. ocs. these two are both from hallownest just because there’s less context to give there sgkskjsd they’re intended to be a couple, but the main story doesn’t focus on that a lot. it’s more an exploration of a relationship dynamic where both people are into each other, romantically or sexually or platonically or what have you, but they’re not as intimate as they may otherwise want to be due to external circumstances. there’s Lyzi, a white mantis who is a former teacher at the Gilded University, and there’s Solice, a butterfly who is an ex-member of the hallownest guard force. lyzi’s more reserved, more serious, quite a bit jaded, and typically stressed over one thing or another, whereas solice is very much the happy-go-lucky person of the group, a ray of sunshine if you will if that sentence didn’t have Connotations in the world of hollow knight. they’re both very competent in battle, lyzi with soul magic and solice with their nail, but neither like to fight much these days. with each other, solice is the flirt demon who keeps making lyzi flustered, but they’s also generally chaotic and horny and flirt a little bit with everyone. they just likes lyzi best lmao

i have other ocs, i just like thinking about these two the most because their dynamic is really interesting to me. it’s also extra interesting because solice is technically polyamorous, though they really only has their sights set on lyzi romantically. they has four hands and they Will use them sfkjghjk

(as an aside, lyzi uses she/her pronouns and is trans, while solice uses singular they/them.)

i keep seeing people send you ocs and i want to participate, but also my hollow knight au is so far removed from canon in terms of like. context that essentially every canon character is now an oc and also none of my ocs make any sense without giving about 3 pages of context rip

i havent fully decided on how i want their cloaks to behave yet. i kind of like the idea of it being one long strip instead of several discrete strips, but hm. leaf. idk yet, we’ll see

i finally sketched teoda. i hesitated calling him fat because its like. this is just the beetle body type? i need to check how fat storage in bugs works too, so like a fat mantis will look Pretty different from a fat beetle. thats my main point here; teoda’s body shape is like the default for ladybugs. or maybe not, once i do some research. we’ll see lol. i just wanted him to be taller than aulen and kitsa and also chunkier

ive also loosely decided on what beetle species im basing them off of, but i dont remember the name off the top of my head. it was something like long legged or long nosed water beetle for aulen and kitsa, idk. teoda’s just a generic ladybug. but yeah! ideas :)

if i hadnt started doodling in class i probably would have fallen asleep

in person the scribble on holly’s chest looked like shit tbh, but in a picture it actually kinda looks decent. also its intentional that it spans all three torso plates; as per my interpretation of the after effects of the infection, the scarring left behind after they recover fuses the plates together, meaning they cant really bend over without experiencing severe pain. chronic illness metaphor go brrrrr

i dont think i quite captured ‘their proportions are awkward’ in this though. im hesitant to make them even longer because past a certain point it just gets ridiculous, but also thats kind of the point? idk. their proportions look fine to me, maybe someone else with more experience will think it looks weird. its supposed to look a little odd, so. yeet

also!! why the Fuck is orchid so hard to draw!!! inevitably their head looks really squished and i dont know Why. the red one there i actually sketched it a ghost’s head first, then erased their horns. Why TM

i didnt include hornet here because there wasnt enough space, but i think she’s about as tall as lheki is. shes on the shorter side for bugs tbh; most bugs are slightly taller than lheki here. some get as tall as the vessels’ second molts, but once theyre fully grown all of them tower over regular bugs. because theyre just built different <3

its nice tbh, practicing not tweaking every little detail and erasing every mistake i make. though it does make some of these look a little awkward. lurien’s arms are too low down on his torso, but he doesnt even look like a butterfly CHFHSJSH

i also kind of butchered the seer,, i just cant draw the winged characters i guess

i Am really happy about how ghost’s shell came out though! but they look like a reindeer???

redesign for lheki’s horns kept flapping around in my head while i was trying to read classwork, so i sketched it out really quick. i misjudged how much space id need for the front facing version askjdfgjks

Iheki has been handed a notebook. What do they do? I'm totally not procrastinating on my homework by sending you random asks not at allll

sdfkjghkj im gonna answer this one first because the food question is actually Extremely complicated, and i have to scrounge up my worldbuilding about cuisine for it. bear with me on that

in any case. theyre probably scribbling notes on the recent experiments theyve been doing with monomon and quirrel, maybe some personal thoughts about the oomas and uomas that keep wandering into the lab somehow. there's probably also a few sketches of said oomas and uomas, but its primarily writing about science stuff. maybe a shopping list (trade list?) for stuff they're running low on in the lab that they're going to pick up when they next run errands

(slight spoilers under the cut, but nothing huge)

theyre probably the most meticulous of the vessels, so they do stuff like this a lot. they're constantly making notes of Everything, which makes them a very good scientist lmao. theyre generally in the archives a lot helping monomon, so any notebooks they receive as a gift are just going to get turned into record keeping books like all the rest. of course the archive has its own information storage system, but lheki likes writing this stuff down, and its useful to have a second copy of the data in a different medium anyhow. its probably also a way for them to practice their handwriting, once quirrel has taught them how to write.

alternatively, they might use one of these notebooks to help orchid write. lheki's also the best in penmanship, and orchid is the worst because of their tremors, so they'd help out there too.

tldr theyd use it for record keeping or for helping orchid with handwriting kjsdfjkgjks
