[Pre-molt, Lost Kin has three short horns. The leftmost horn is the nubbiest, and the rightmost horn is the longest and the most curved. Their head is roughly rectangular with rounded corners, and their eyes are big, round ellipses.

In their first molt, they are drawn to mimic the way they appear in canon. The bottom of their face has sharpened into a gentle point, and their horns are all longer; their leftmost horn is still the shortest, but it is considerably thicker, and the same is true of their rightmost horn. Their rightmost horn also has two curves in it, first going outwards before bending back in, with the tip facing outward. Their middle horn, which is offset over their left eye, has mostly just increased in length. Their eyes are now slanted and tear drop shaped.

There are two drawings of their second molt, one of a front view of their shell, and the other of a side view viewed with their leftmost horn closest to the camera. This horn is now equal in height to their middle horn. Their rightmost horn is much thicker than before, and is so long that the tip goes out of the page. A small extra horn prong protrudes from the concave side of the upper bend on their horn. From the side, their middle horn bends gently towards the back of their head. Their extra horn prong pokes out very slightly from behind the larger horn, which curves slightly towards the back as it bends.

Their final molt also has a front view and a side view of their shell. Their leftmost horn has a much more pronounced curve, and is longer than their middle horn. It first curves outwards, then bends back inwards, while the tip continues facing outwards. Their rightmost horn is considerably thicker than their other horns, and now has three curves in it: first outwards, then inwards, then outwards again with the tip bending inwards. Their extra horn prong is longer and thicker, and curves slightly back on itself.

When viewed from the side, their middle horn curves more than it did before, and their leftmost horn is much thicker, with a small hump at the base due to how it curves. Their rightmost horn is even thicker, having roughly the same curving pattern as their leftmost horn but more intense; the tip goes into the front view of their second molt and is not actually drawn. Their extra horn prong sticks out more than it did before, forming a small V with the thicker horn. Throughout all their molts, their horns look more and more like roots, particularly in their final molt. end image description]

some folks were asking about lheki on my other vessel horns post, and. uh. this is why they get their own page DFJKGHJKS like i’ve said before, their uneven horns are why i love their design so much, but it also makes them much, much harder to draw than their more symmetrical siblings. a curse and a blessing in the same breath, truly. i also tried to give myself more space to finish their horns and still wound up having to leave the tips off, so i guess that says a lot about my spatial awareness lmfao

i still love them though. look at how pretty they are <3

in some respects i wish i’d made them sooner, because they are just. So Shaped. i love orchid but lheki’s hard to beat as my favorite because look at those horns,,, hrngnnf i love them. but it’s also specifically because of their design that i’m glad i left it until now. the experience from ghost, hornet and orchid definitely helped me decide how to approach making them. though sometimes working in spirals makes sewing details on harder, i think it shapes their heads better, and i’m glad i went with it for lheki.

their cloak was an experiment of sorts. i don’t actually know how, or if, other people join their knit work with their crocheted fabric. most stuff i’ve seen about joining knit work in general is about seaming, and it always leaves this kinda obvious seam where it was joined that i don’t like. it’s less obvious with how i’ve done it here, since i pulled loops through the crochet stitches and started knitting from that, but you can still see where it transitions and i’m not sure if there’s a neater way to do it. i kind of like it though, and knit fabric is much, much softer than crocheted fabric in general, so i don’t regret it. the slits up the sides are part of how i personally think they manage their cloak; they work in the archives a lot, and trimming their cloak like this helps keep their arms free and their cloak out of the way. it’s also why i wanted to knit most of their cloak instead of crocheting it; knit fabric drapes much more nicely than crochet fabric does, and with a garter border it kinda looks like they snipped it up.

anyhow, yeah! one more vessel for the pile. and one to go, whenever i figure out their proportions LOL

any broken vessel headcanons you'd like to share??

a lot of these are based in my au, but some i think apply to canon as well:

- they’re the oldest of the four vessels we see in game. i think this one is a fairly common headcanon, but as per my interpretations, ghost and greenpath vessel are from the same clutch, holly is from the last clutch, and lost kin is from one of the early clutches. they just have older sibling vibes to me, idk

- they’re the calmest of the four siblings, in part because they have flat affect and generally don’t feel emotions intensely. they’re very level headed and precise about what they do, and they’re usually the mediator between their siblings when a spat breaks out.

- this is also why they help out in the archives! they’re very inquisitive and curious, sometimes to a fault. kinda like monomon, actually. they get along great.

- they’re very close with isma because she trained them for a while. in my au, she’s the one who gave them their name too; it means ‘wonder’ in the greenkin tongue.

- though they’re good at mediating fights between other people, they’re Very bad at fighting themself, and tend to just run from any combat they need to do. this was true even before they were… sent away. if they do fight, it’s because they’re forced to.

- this applies to non-martial fighting, too. if they’re ever involved in an argument, they try to avoid it and change the subject.

- they’re the least tactile of their four siblings, and typically aren’t too keen about being touched. they will hug their siblings and isma if they feel like it, usually to reciprocate, but they tend to show affection in other ways.

- they’re a fairly decent soul magic user, but they don’t like using it. if they do use it, it’s often either for defense, or it’s to help with an experiment in the archives. when they’re in danger they typically just run away.

She looks at them over her shoulder, her eyes crinkling into a smile. “I’m just about done. What do you have there?”

They hold it up to her, and she takes it, peering at it curiously. “A gift,” they sign as she unwraps it. “I made it.”

She lets out a little gasp as she pulls out the wax plant figurine. “Oh, this is lovely.” She pats their head tenderly. “Thank you, Lheki!”

i mean the tldr of my au is that what if Everything, and i mean E v e r y t h i n g, that happened was the pale king’s fault, directly or indirectly. ripple effects and all. the moths got heavily reworked, unn and her greenkin got heavily reworked, deepnest is now called arcleome, the magic system got revamped, etc. there’s a ton of stuff

dreamless isn’t like. fuck canon, these characters are mine, though it is to an Extent. it’s more like taking a character who had a perfectly nice life and going ‘hey what if they grew up in a really shitty environment instead?’ sometimes it winds up completely recharacterizing canon characters (*cough* markoth), sometimes it just gives them more depth, at least in my opinion (hornet). the vessels also get developed a hell of a lot more because i love them and also there needs to be more content about greenpath vessel, please and thank you. the vessels are a quartet now, and with hornet become the sibling quintet. i love the classic sibling trio to bits, but the quintet is where it’s at and you will not change my mind

anyway. ocs. these two are both from hallownest just because there’s less context to give there sgkskjsd they’re intended to be a couple, but the main story doesn’t focus on that a lot. it’s more an exploration of a relationship dynamic where both people are into each other, romantically or sexually or platonically or what have you, but they’re not as intimate as they may otherwise want to be due to external circumstances. there’s Lyzi, a white mantis who is a former teacher at the Gilded University, and there’s Solice, a butterfly who is an ex-member of the hallownest guard force. lyzi’s more reserved, more serious, quite a bit jaded, and typically stressed over one thing or another, whereas solice is very much the happy-go-lucky person of the group, a ray of sunshine if you will if that sentence didn’t have Connotations in the world of hollow knight. they’re both very competent in battle, lyzi with soul magic and solice with their nail, but neither like to fight much these days. with each other, solice is the flirt demon who keeps making lyzi flustered, but they’s also generally chaotic and horny and flirt a little bit with everyone. they just likes lyzi best lmao

i have other ocs, i just like thinking about these two the most because their dynamic is really interesting to me. it’s also extra interesting because solice is technically polyamorous, though they really only has their sights set on lyzi romantically. they has four hands and they Will use them sfkjghjk

(as an aside, lyzi uses she/her pronouns and is trans, while solice uses singular they/them.)

i keep seeing people send you ocs and i want to participate, but also my hollow knight au is so far removed from canon in terms of like. context that essentially every canon character is now an oc and also none of my ocs make any sense without giving about 3 pages of context rip
