hiiii!!! I think I read your posts pretty much everyday and am loving absolutely everything you write!!
This one thought has been bothering me for a while: what would our boys think of their s/o being a foreigner? I guess some of them would pay no mind, some of them would be bothered at first, maybe some of them would even use their s/o as a token! What do you think?
Good question! Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Last post of the night kiddos, see y'all tomorrow eve.
Kazuma Kiryu
Doesn't mind and doesn't care. People are people. He likes you because he likes you. It's that shrimple. Seriously though, it never phased him. He doesn't ask questions about it either. Feel free to share exactly as much or as little about your culture as you'd like.
Majima Goro
Similar mindset as Kiryu but he would ask some questions. Somewhat interested in cultural differences, like the fact that Americans don't take off their shoes before going inside. It's not always aimed at YOUR culture specifically, he's just curious.
Saejima Taiga
He's a little resistant at first. Saejima's a little more old school and likely always saw himself with a more traditionally Japanese spouse. Mildly confused at some of your cultural differences but gets used to them. His affections towards you are more powerful than his confusion. Besides, he's easily confused anyways by a lot of things.
Akiyama Shun
Thinks that it's really cool that you're a foreigner. Might even think that's what makes you so interesting in the first place, at least when you first meet. Tries to learn words in your language but never pronounces them well.
Tanimura Masayoshi
As a mixed race guy, he kind of relates to you. He's pretty respectful of your culture and enjoys sharing his with you but he would never pressure you to do the same. Mostly just accepts it as is, no questions asked.
Ryuji Goda
Like Akiyama, he likely finds your cultural differences enticing when he first meets you. Finds himself actually caring about your cultural and is pretty respectful of it. Goes out of his way to try to remember important holiday events from your culture. Would punch anyone who makes fun of you.
Nishikyama Akira
Generally prefers an Asian spouse but he's open to other possibilities. Kind of guy to dumbly ask "Why" or "Huh" when you do certain things that relate to your culture. Little bit dumb about it all. Doesn't exactly judge you though but he can be openly confused at times.
Daigo Dojima
Honestly he has never thought about dating a foreigner and probably thinks it's expected of him to have a Japanese spouse but doesn't let that stop him. Daigo's a big sweetheart when in love so where you're from or what culture you partake in doesn't bother him none. Genuinely supportive and loving all the way.
Mine Yoshitaka
Might be a little guilty of fetishizing your culture or using it as a token point of interest. What can I say, Mine really does want to look cool in front of everyone, even more than Nishiki. If you tell him, he'll immediately knock it off. He likely just didn't realize that it bothered you or offended you.
Tatsuo Shinada
Also guilty of making your culture or foreigner status into a token subject, but more so in the way he just asks a LOT of questions. He doesn't realize it makes you feel like you're a zoo animal or like a science project. His intentions are well placed though, he just doesn't know when to stop asking.
Ichiban Kasuga
He'll just be like "Okay, cool!" with a thumbs up. That's how much you being a foreigner affects him. Bless his gentle heart, he could never fathom how anyone could judge you or treat you differently just because you're a foreigner.
Tianyou Zhao
Sympathizes with your struggles and is really understanding. Would be down to share cultural foods or holidays with you, either from his culture or yours. He's just generally really chill about it.
Joon-Gi Han
Similar vibe as Zhao but would whoop the ass of anyone who made fun of you. He knows all too well what it's like to be outcast just because of who you are and how much that hurts and he'll be damned if you ever feel bad for being yourself.

in my heart sawashiro and arakawa have the same thing going on that minedai do but slightly to the left...like theres a visible difference and a different vibe but...its there yknow...less crazy but also more crazy because theyre older are you getting the vibe im laying down this is difficult to explain
no i get the vibe i got you. it's like minedai but with dads and less willingness to murder his boss out of grief
#snap chats#and they have a kid they both love see Minedai But With Dads yk#two kids if you want to include ichi but jo's more definitely like the stepdad ichi's dad married yk what i mean#like masato is very much Jo And Arakawa's Kid while ichi is Arakawa's Kid. which. yeah. yeah no shit#see thats the only thing with minedai they colud never have a kid cause mine would be the shittiest dad#its NOTHING but projection on the poor tyke and unfortunately daigo inversely has a soft spot for kids#lucky for me i dont mind if my pairings dont have kids. but its great if they have one in canon HAHA time to project the family i wanted#see arasawa is funnier because of the different vibes right let me explain#because mine generally is very upfront with how he feels so them coming to terms with their feelings mutually is more plausible#not OPEN about how he feels but he does tell daigo whats on his mind and all#and so thats why its easier to imagine them ACTUALLY being together esp knowing how daigo wants genuine bonds too#whereas jo like. locks everything away. like get phoenix wright on this dumbass there's a fucking barricade of locks#so its the funniest shit ever trying to imagine jo trying to invite arakawa places or vice versa#i guess it's a similar flavor though.. but different#cause mine'll be like Oh. Oh Ok and go and then he'll be like This Is Nice :) and forget whatever apprehension he had before#but i can only ever imagine jo just. ????? the entire time out whether its out to dinner or like an art show or something#like does he even know HOW to relax.. he's had more time for his mental illness to stew ok mine still had a chance#see thats the cute thing about arasawa tho Going By The Idea Of Jo Liking Art they could enjoy art together#im lit rambling sorry but yes tl;dr anon i get you 100% and its probably why i enjoy it so much

You Look Pretty with Your Mouth Hanging Open
He is sitting in the back of some no name cabaret, eyes glazed into the middle distance. A woman, unpretty enough for her name to get lost in the back of his mind, clings to his arm. She’s telling him about an expensive watch at Le Marche - something jewel toned and European. Like what decorates the wrists of half the girls in Kamurocho. Dime-a-dozen.
But he’s not hearing the plain-ish hostess beg for trinkets. Or at least not listening to her. He lets his boys do that, and splash out on expensive affirmations of counterfeit love. He didn’t need that. To be reminded that anything he got here was a pleasant imitation at best.
And you think it was different with him? You think he loved you?
No, but at least there was no pretense otherwise.
“Hey, Aniki. We have time for another bottle, right?” This one - Hiroki? - is getting an eye full of tit and an expensive earworm.
Daigo looks down at the half empty glass of half-water whisky in his hand. The color is hatefully reminiscent. He knocks it back and leaves the glass coasterless on the cheap table. “Yeah, sure. Why not.”
-
He finds solipsism near the end of the third bottle. He is younger. He is full of piss and vinegar. He wants to take the world and crumble it between his teeth. There are no hostess clubs or expensive European watches.
But there are hands that tame him from time to time. Hands that weave his hair tight between their fingers. Hands the prise open his jaw, relieve the pressure on his world-crumbling teeth, and pull sighs and moans and Yes, sirs from his throat.
And there is a mouth with a scar in the corner that he traces with his tongue. A mouth that cracks open his skull and relieves the pressure on his world-weary mind with cock-throbbing Good boys.
Of course there have been hands and mouths since. Hands and mouths that repeat the refrain, sing the same chorus and bridge. But out of key. Octaves too high.
You’re just upset he gets your engine going hotter than any hostess could.
And?
But.
But?
The last fill station was a hundred kilometers ago. And you can’t conceive of another showing up any time soon.
He is jostled by an elbow to the side, still preoccupied with hands and mouths and cars and songs. “You good, bro?”
His glass is empty and so is bottle three. His gut is left full of liquor that feels like it’s trying to rot out the bottom. “Yeah, fine.” The response is far away, half way out the door already. Looking back to ask if they’d paid the bill yet.
“You sure?”
“Yeah. No, really. I’m great.”
Can’t even muster up a smile.
For lack of liquor, Daigo chewed ice until the check came.
-
The door is only a few dozen feet away, but he is full of feelings and fire water. Cotton head, cotton mouth, cotton heart. Only a teenage eternity faking sober to see him through. Concentrate.
What, hear that?
What?
That voice.
From a private room nearby. Bass-low, strutting around like it owns the joint. Peacocking. He’d know it anywhere.
There it is. Last stop for who knows how long.
But why is he here?
Does it matter? Think about it.
Don’t think about it. He’d never live down walking out of here with a half-mast cock.
From what? A memory? Of being on your knees while he drips cigarette-flavored spit from his pretty lips into your mouth?
He centers himself with a hard breath through the nose.
Think of it as motivation.
“Hey, you coming or what?” The others are paces ahead. He’s been loitering near the short hall to the private rooms for an embarrassingly long time.
Now or never. What’s it gonna be?
Beat.
Well?
“Yeah, uh. I just gotta, uh, piss first.” He slips into the hall before any response, knowing full well the bathrooms were upstairs.
Attaboy.
His honey voice fades in and out with laughter and exclamation. It makes Daigo’s palms sweat. His pulse quicken.
What if he tells you to go fuck yourself, huh? What then?
Maybe that would be a mercy. Maybe if he couldn’t have him forever, he shouldn’t have him at all.
What if he doesn’t even remember you?
Worse. To become insignificant to the best thing he’d ever had.
What happened to not loving him?
He didn’t. Doesn’t. It wasn’t love, it was peace. Not romance, but oblivion. Emptiness.
Freedom.
Looks like you’ve got it all figured out.
Someone had left the door to their room open. There are fewer people than Daigo expects. Three, four. And him at the center of it all. The sun, cock-sure with an ugly hostess petting his chest.
Now what? You gonna go in there and beg?
No.
He’d like that. You’d like that.
No. Something else.
Please sir, can I have some more?
Something else.
Daigo rubs his hands on his jeans and screws his face into something akin to a scowl. He doesn’t fill the doorway. “Ryuji Goda, what the fuck are you doing in Kamurocho?” His voice doesn’t fill the words either. It’s false confidence.
“Haw?” His mouth - dangerous, exciting, the second best part of him - pulls into a signature sneer. “And who the fuck is asking?”
And so the worst has come to pass.
No, maybe he’s just putting on a show for the boys. Daigo can play along.
“I am.”
“And who are you?” No hesitation. Unflustered.
The same could not be said of Daigo, who searches his face for any spark of recognition. Anything. Anything to alleviate the growing, gnawing pit eroding his chest.
It takes everything he has not to say ‘They guy who’s had your cock in his mouth more times than you can count’ or ‘The guy who used to let you blow his back out daily’.
Instead he says nothing and leaves with a muttered ‘whatever’. There is nothing productive to be had in the exchange. Nothing to gain, but so much to lose.
Poor, poor Daigo. But you were prepared for this, remember?
A likely story. A convenient lie. He isn’t sure that had even been possible.
-
He is puking in the back of some no name alley off east Taihei, drink having finally caught up to him. Red eyed and snotty, he remembers the first time he’d gagged on cock, when Ryuji’d gotten impatient and shoved it half way down his throat. He hadn’t puked then but he’d wanted to, more out of revenge than anything else. And the thought of the words that’d follow the act of returning all the cum he’d swallowed to its rightful owner.
But he hadn’t. He’d let Ryuji fuck his mouth, whispering soft affirmations.
‘Good boy, take it.’
‘You can do it.’
‘That’s it.’
Later he’d said how he’d liked the way it made Daigo’s eyeliner run. How he’d liked seeing the strings of spit and cum the stretched between Daigo’s mouth and the head of his cock after he’d finished and pulled out of his throat.
You’ll never find another one like him.
Yeah.
Take a minute, mourn the loss.
Yeah.
Unless…
Unless?
Stiff-soled shoes power down the alley behind him. They pause - there was the hesitation - before a large hand sweeps up into the hair on the back of his head to grip it just tight enough. He pulls Daigo’s head back, leaving his throat open and bare.
Just like old times.
Daigo is still in puking position - half-bent, hands braced against the grimy wall - so Ryuji towers over him. By the hair, he pulls Daigo up, other arm wrapping around his chest. Keeping him close. Holding him tight enough for Daigo to know he hadn’t really forgotten.
Exactly like old times.
“Ya always did like to play hard-to-get, Daigo-chan.” Ryuji all but whispers the words into his skin, letting the bass of his voice rumble through his chest and into Daigo’s. “I’m real sorry I had to scare ya off earlier, but ya didn’t have to wander so far.” He sets his teeth against the skin of Daigo’s neck. Just a little pressure. Just enough to thrill.
So how are we feeling about this?
“Please -” is all Daigo can manage, and just barely.
Guess you’ll have to unpack this later.
“Damn. Missed me that much, huh? Sweet boy, ya missed my cock?” A hand travels up his chest to rest encircling his throat. No squeeze yet, but the promise is there. He places a little kiss behind Daigo’s ear.
Daigo cannot respond. He is all nerve endings.
“Answer me, pretty boy. I need to know yer in there.”
“Yes.” He chokes it out.
“Good boy. Ya wanna play a game with me?”
“Yes!” Daigo’s cock jumps at the memory of their games.
Ryuji laughs low and it’s like something soft weaving between Daigo’s knees. The hand in his hair and the other hand at his throat are all that’s holding him up. “Can’t say I haven’t missed yer pretty mouth too.” He plants another kiss. Then a few more.
This man is gonna leave you comatose, sending all the blood from your dome down below.
And it’ll have been worth it.
“Ya wanna hear how our game’s gonna go?
Answer him.
The best Daigo can do is nod.
“Thought so. Ya’ve always been such a good little slut for me.”
And you always will be.
More little kisses evolve into something harder. Ryuji works gently at his neck with teeth and lips and tongue before continuing. “For now, I’m gonna make ya cum. Just to hold ya over for a little while.” The hand leaves his neck to pull his shirt up and drag fingertips up and down his belly.
It won’t take much
“Then tomorrow, somebody’s gonna come pick ya up. Not sure when, not sure where. They’re gonna be a little rough about it, but don’t worry.” Ryuji moves on to his belt and button. “I’m not gonna let anyone hurt my little cocksleeve.” The belt is gone quickly but he takes his time with the rest, hand playing over the bulge of Daigo’s cock as he spins his story.
“They’re gonna tie ya up, just how we like it. And bring ya out to see me. We’re gonna have a great time together.” Finally, Daigo is free. Once Ryuji was done teasing him, the button and zipper came in quick succession.
And now Daigo’s breath is coming in pants, making cloud-bursts of heat in the night. Ryuji grips the base of his cock with the smallest amount of pressure. “Sound good, darlin’?”
If Daigo could produce a single coherent thought, he’d have wondered what all the theatrics were for. But he’s past that. Way past that. Half way to bliss. “Yes, sir.”
Old habits die hard.
He strokes up once, just to send a thrill down Daigo’s spine. Just to make his knees quake. “Good boy.” He keeps Daigo’s head pulled to the side to continue working at the deepening bruise at the crook of his neck. Keeps his hips pressed firmly into Daigo’s ass. Keeps a steady pace on his cock and a steady stream of sweet words in his ear.
Daigo is unravelling. At some point, the hand in his hair leaves to slip two fingers into his gasp-open mouth for him to suck on. His favorite gag.
Happy now?
Euphoric.
He makes small noises as the fingers push back into his throat - less sensitive now that it had once been - as Ryuji growls into his ear. “Ready to cum for me, sweet boy?”
No. Yes. Both. He wants it more than he’s wanted anything in a long time. Or does he want to ride this for as long as he can?
He decides to let Ryuji make the choice for him, answering only in doe eyes and a pleading look.
His pace slows. “Pretty boy can’t make up his mind?”
Daigo gives him a muffled moan.
He has stopped altogether. The hand in his mouth returns to his hair to tilt his head downward. The hand on his cock returns to neutral, resting with a firmer grip around the base. “What does my lover boy think? Does this cock look like it’s ready to cum?”
Daigo is swollen red and leaking onto the trash bags below his spread-eagle legs.
“D -”
“Yes, baby?” He gives Daigo’s cock a short squeeze. “Spit it out.”
“Daddy, please.”
He laughs. “Well, since ya asked so nicely.”
It doesn’t take much more than that.
From somewhere in his coat, Ryuji produces a few pocket tissues and cleans his hands, all while keeping Daigo propped against his chest. He returns to trailing kisses up and down Daigo’s neck. “Look at ya, bein’ so good for me.” He tosses the tissue over his shoulder. “But ya’ve made such a mess. I’d make ya lick it up if I weren’t worried about the germs.”
You would too, if he demanded it.
He knows.
Haven’t you ever heard of a refractory period?
But it feels good to want again. To ache for it.
Ryuji turns Daigo around once he’s tucked him away, put his clothes back in place. He keeps his arms slung around Daigo’s hips, hands on his ass. Daigo knows there is want for tenderness in him. Typically, it went unexpressed.
Tonight, though, Ryuji presses his forehead against Daigo’s. Kisses first the tip of his nose, then one corner of his mouth, then the other.
Then back to the nose, then each eyelid, until they were laughing again like the young idiots they once were. Like they used to.
He ends things with a kiss full on the mouth, more romantic than Daigo expected. He says his goodbyes and pulls away. “I’ll see ya tomorrow, hot stuff.”
He is at the end of the alley when he stops. Almost out of ear shot. “I’m sorry, by the way. For what happened. For all that.”
It knocks the air out of Daigo’s chest.
Right.
That.
Did you think you could just go back to the way things were?

Bakugo, You’re A Dumbass
Bakugo jealous of a fictional character? It’s more likely than you think.
Bakugo x Reader
I was stressed from studying for a test so I wrote this because my mind could not focus on anything but ultraman tiga. Humiliating, I know but I started rewatching the show for like the tenth time because it’s such a good show and lockdown got me back on my childhood bs. Anyways writing Bakugo is so much fun for me and I find him really entertaining to portray, so here, muah!
WC- 925
~~~
“(Y/N) what is that?!” Mina’s eyes light up excitedly, her finger pointing straight at the red mark on your neck.
“I burned myself with my blowdryer.” You sigh passively, the go-to response slipping past your lips. Mina lightly pokes at a strand of your hair, staring as a drop of water drips onto the floor.
“(Y/N), I don’t know how to tell you this but your hair is seriously wet.” Jiro comments and you purse your lips, staring at the ground in the humiliation at the slip-up. Mina only gets closer to you, eyes squinting as she stares at the mark on your neck.
“Who gave it to you? Who gave it to you!” She squeals and you tense up immediately, nervous under her pestering. “Judging by your reaction someone gave it to you, a little love bite~ Who?!” She jumps up once more, gold eyes staring you down.
Mina wasn’t wrong because it certainly was a bite, one from an irritating boy who loved to nip at your neck whenever he got the chance. By now you’ve trained yourself not to look at Bakugo when you get cornered like this. If you could though, you’d send him a glare that would kill him. Even Jiro, as uninterested as she looks, is staring at you curiously and your mind runs to come up with a name.
“Daigo?” You answer and the two girls fall quiet for a moment. You did not sound sure of yourself.
“(Y/N)! You have a boyfriend and didn’t tell me? Does he go to another school? How tall is he? Does he have any friends?” Mina bombards you with questions and you nervously laugh at her antics, mentally letting out a sigh of relief that she didn’t catch on.
“Umm he goes to another school, he’s just a regular student unlike us.” You lie straight through your teeth and Jiro is nodding along as she soaks in the information.
“Do you have any pictures of him?” Mina glances down at your phone and you slowly stick it back in your bag.
“I just cleaned off my phone for storage-“
“What about his social media sites?” She continues and you can only glance at the clock behind her head, wondering why Aizawa had the audacity to be late today of all mornings.
“He’s like Todoroki, not really into that kind of thing but I can show you a picture when we get back to the dorms!” You send her a fake smile, digging the hole even deeper for yourself so that you can’t even climb out of it, and Mina only takes it as if it’s the truth.
“Like Todoroki huh? I mean I guess that’s your type, quiet and reserved.” Jiro throws out and you nod your head to agree, mentally trying to push away the image of a loud-mouth blond popping into your head.
“Yeah, that’s my type!” By now you’re simply adding fuel to the fire, or a match to a fit of gasoline.
“Like Yaoyorozu!” Mina adds and the three of you burst into a fit of laughter as the creation-wielding girl snaps her head towards you all.
-
“Who the fuck is Daigo?!” Bakugo slams your dorm door open, standing defensively in your door frame. You heave a heavy sigh and turn to your laptop, pausing the episode you’re on to give Bakugo your full attention. Bakugo only narrows his eyes at you when you motion for him to come inside and he takes a single step forward to let the door slam shut.
“Bakugo you’re a dumbass.” You throw over your shoulder, bracing yourself for when he pounces on your bed.
“No dumbass you’re a dumbass, just because we’re on the down low doesn’t mean you can see other guys!” He spits, his arms crossed over his chest as he faces your wall, slowly you turn around and try not to let your eye twitch.
“You gave this to me this morning.” You state calmly, pointing to the same mark Mina was fawning over. Bakugo doesn’t move an inch and you place your hand on top of his messy hair.
“So? Doesn’t explain who Daigo is.” He mutters childishly and you turn away from him to grab your laptop. “Hey.” Bakugo turns around quickly when he notices your attention no longer on him, his arms wrap around your waist and bring you into his chest. His nose resting against the crook of your jaw.
“No marks.” You warn and open up the device, pressing play and lifting it up over your head. “That’s Daigo.” You point to the man and Bakugo scrunches his face in confusion. “It’s Ultraman Tiga you dumbass.” Bakugo still looks confused and you sit up to stare down at him, betrayal written all over your face. “Bakugo have you never seen this?”
“Why the hell would I watch a show about fake heroes when we have real ones, dumbass.” His red eyes roll and you cross your arms over your chest with a scoff.
“Because it’s a good fucking show and a staple piece to our childhood!” You sputter like an idiot and Bakugo only wraps his arms around you once more to bring you down with him. “I wouldn’t have said some random character's name if you didn’t leave a mark!”
“Well, now I have to leave even more marks.” His breath is hot against your neck and you nearly screech when you feel his lips press against your skin.
“Why?!”
“So even fictional characters know you’re taken.”
“You are ridiculous Katsuki.”
wow that last daigo request awakened my love for him.. i wonder if you could write something about daigo's s/o complaining about his hair and asking for him to go back to his emo hair (bc its so fvckng cute). also, i would suggest for you to write a drunk s/o to keep things realistic because no one in their right mind would ask anyone to cut an emo haircut SOBER, only me .. anyways, i really like your writing! i usually only read nsfw but your stuff is always so funny and cute, i love it 💓💗💞
PREFACE
Ay folks. I came just to say that this is a Daigo Dojima elaborate shitposting blog now, I don’t make the rules okay byeeeeee No but seriously, I’m prioritizing these two Daigo ideas I got after my first word vomit because you’ve come up with some gorgeous ideas while I was off making heart eyes at Y7 cast , you beautiful folks. Thank you so so much Non, this was a joy to write but don’t ever again assume that I wouldn’t ask this man that I am simping for to go back emo when I’m sober. I would. But in the hc it’s up to your personal interpretation. Also his hair’s shorter than i rememebr it now that i check lol. Hope you enjoy it and have an awesome day!
DAIGO HAVING THE HAIR TALK
Daigo Dojima, the chairman of one of the biggest yakuza organizations in Japan, is staring needles into a small container of what seems to be hair gel, like it just killed his entire family and spit in his face. When approaching him in that delicate state with wrath rolling off of his broad shoulders in waves, a level of caution is definitely recommended. And also readiness to hear him out because everyone in the family knows the drill by now and they make sure to disappear into thin air whenever the boss gets into that specific state of mind. Unfamiliar with the situation, maybe just a bit buzzed, you didn’t do either. You are a very special case with special privileges, after all. Whether the part of a family or an outsider, it doesn’t matter. There are a variety of doors that open up wide when you can openly proclaim yourself as Daigo’s lover. Such as barging into his office whenever you see fit, apparently.
You barely walk through the doors, when the man himself shoots you an acknowledging, albeit immensely tired look as he stops turning the container around in his hands only to set it down on the tabletop of his wooden desk. He tries his best not to pay it any attention as he beckons you over to one of the fancy guest chairs, but you can’t help and notice how his eyes wander right back to the box. It doesn’t really matter if you ask him outright or give him time to get to the topic himself, your conversation does eventually come down to discussing his biggest current concern. The price of hair gel.
What, did you think his hair gets like that on its own? Oh no no, you sweet summer child. Unlike some people, he doesn’t like styling it with the blood of his enemies. It’s a bit gross and most definitely inconvenient, though he’s got to admit, the look does feel incredibly cool. It’s this reddish shine that does it, in his opinion. Even long years after Nishikiyama’s unfortunate demise Daigo can’t help but try and replicate him like that, with copious amounts of hair gel. However, as he gets older he starts realizing how the seemingly small costs start snowballing into annoying large sums that he can’t properly explain to his finance handlers without having to come up with a strong justification for his poor life choices. And that is where you come in. An outsider’s eye, a fresh perspective for this troubled soul that is your boyfriend. So after what feels like an eternity of him trying to properly explain his problem without sounding like a total dumbass, he turns to you for assistance.
This is a scripted event with butterfly effect written all over it. Your choice will have severe consequences and can only be made once. Also, did I mention it’s timed? Well, better choose wisely and better choose real quick.
Do you: > Tell him to just be upfront with his finance team > Ask him if he can’t use less gel > “No, but hear me out, love. Your emo hair. Go back to it, no gel, no nothing. Just your gorgeous black mane scattered all over your forehead again, barely seeing anything through the pain of existence.”
Well, maybe that’s not exactly how you said it, but that’s most certainly the way he heard it. Also followed by you explaining how much hotter he looked that way and frankly, he’s not sure if it’s just your impressive bravado or the buzz talking. Alas, Daigo is quite taken aback, staring you with mouth gaping like a fish, not sure how to process whatever it was that you just threw at him. For the longest time he just sits there, feeling like he’s under scrutiny as you try to imagine this seasoned, adult him in his old haircut. Surprisingly enough it feels good to have your attention like that, but being the man that he is, he can’t help but react in a bashful manner, telling you to stop staring at him like a creep. Flatter him some more though, it’s actually a great and healthy boost for his ego, even if he acts like you’re being the most annoying person in the world.
Honestly, from that point onward it’s just a bickering war of him claiming that he looked like an absolute idiot back in the day and now he’s got to be all dignified and shit, while you continue to tell him otherwise. You may even try to launch a full out offensive and try to get his hair down - if that’s even possible with the amounts of gel. Though it may feel a bit gross for your fingers, the effect’s definitely worth the prize because this man looks drop dead gorgeous. And, what you may observe as even better about this situation, he is like this specifically for your eyes to see and no one else’s. He does feel a bit liberated himself when you let his bangs just lay freely like that so at the end of the day you could say it was a battle well fought and maybe, maybe even won.
Because who knows, maybe Daigo will let his hair down like that around you just so that he could get you to look at him lovingly like that again. And maybe touch his hair, too....
Digimon Adventure: 2020 – Episode 2: War Game (Review)
Thoughts on the second episode of the Digimon Adventure reboot series.
I loved this episode. Is it because Yamato is in it and I’m an unapologetic Yamato stan? Maybe. But the inclusion of Yamato in the story made things a lot more interesting.
I’m 99% sure the opening credits will change once all eight kids are introduced. I’m sure the other kids will join Taichi in “falling” like in the original opening credits. OG Adventure changed the opening and ending up as the series progressed, too, so it’s very likely they’ll do the same with the reboot.
I liked Yamato a lot -- clearly to everyone’s surprise. *cough* He’s similar to OG Yamato, but still different enough to be his own person. He was less of a lonewolf than the ending credits framed him as and I still liked it. He prefers to do things alone, but he knows what to do to get the job done (teamwork), even though he clearly has reservations about getting close to people. I want to know his background! I really want to see scenes of him with his parents. I hope Hiroaki still has a beefy part in this. Or maybe Natsuko will!? (Sorry, I stan Yamato’s parents too much.)
So it seems Greymon and Garurumon know each other. Interesting. Do they also know the other digimon partners?
Taichi on Yamato: “That’s a human, right?” lol. No, Taichi, he’s an Adonis. ;)
Daigo from Digimon Adventure tri. (Daisuke Namikawa) voices reboot Yamato and I can definitely hear Daigo in him. And while I do like his new voice and thinks it suits him, I still miss OG Yamato’s voice actor Yuuto Kazama in the role. But Namikawa does sound more believable than Kazama as an 11-year-old, lol.
I laughed at Yamato’s disdain at Taichi telling him he’d introduce a friend to him -- and then again at Yamato’s indignation when Taichi goes on to introduce Yamato as his friend to Koushirou. Stop refusing your Crest! XD
Yamato has never heard of the train station Taichi was at before he went into the Network. Ooh, where is Yamato from then?
It’s actually a really big stretch that Koushirou has connections to “web experts” and thus access to classified information at a whim . . . as a 10-year-old. And that he really knows what to do in the Network and everything . . . I know he’s a genius, but come on. :p
I love the sigh Yamato gives when he resigns himself to introducing himself to Taichi and Koushirou. He is seriously winning my heart over with just sounds and facial expressions lol. (But he had my heart already, let’s be real. XD)
What I loved most about this episode was the interactions between Taichi, Yamato and Koushirou. Taichi seemed so much more of a character (and not generic) this episode because he could play off of Yamato and Koushirou. What I loved most about OG Adventure were the kids and their relationships with each other, so having three of them interacting was awesome. I can’t wait for everyone to be assembled!
Yamato calling Koushirou by his last name “Izumi” was a nice touch so that when he does eventually call everyone by their first names, it’ll be really meaningful. (He still calls Meiko Mochizuki by her last name throughout tri. and beyond . . .)
I think I do like reboot Koushirou more than OG Koushirou. He just seems so much more human instead of a walking, talking computer. Plus he’s so adorable, lol.
Taichi reminds me of an adorable little puppy with Yamato. It was like he was all, “Hey, Yamato, can we be friends? Please? Yamato? Please be my friend?” XD His eagerness to befriend him was so endearing.
I like that Taichi physically fights baby Algomon himself. It beats them just watching their digimon partners do all the work. :p
I like Yamato’s quiet confidence. He just trusts that Taichi will understand his tactic to lure the baby Algomon away from the child Algomon “boss”. But after seemingly defeating Algomon, Taichi boasts to Yamato about how he knew what he was thinking, when it was actually Greymon who had to tell him, lol.
I liked Yamato holding his arm out to shut Taichi up because Algomon wasn’t actually defeated, because it reminded me of that scene in tri. Chapter 2 where Yamato stops Taichi that way in the hallway. It was also just funny, lol.
The series is really putting the kids in harms way when Algomon attacks them. I like it, because it makes them seem more involved, instead of just standing by the sidelines and being “owners” of their digimon. But that blow from Algomon that Taichi and Yamato took would severely injure them lol. But I guess if tri. Chapter 4 can get away with Sora being thumped against a cliff and not die, it’s all cool. :P
I have to give props to Toei for actually making Garurumon and Greymon seem like actual characters with their own minds, instead of just “pets” with childlike personalities (which is how I mostly view them in the original series). What a great step up! I really liked them in this episode.
Only two episodes in and we already have a Taito fist-bump! It even felt organic too, even though they just met and Yamato has an aversion to Taichi/making friends. Nice!
I really like the throwback animations to Our War Game. This episode was basically a TV-sized version of the movie and I was here for it. Maybe because Our War Game used to be my favourite Digimon movie (since surpassed by the third tri. movie). I like that they did this because it kind of “connects” this reboot to OG Adventure and it really feels like they could be the same characters in an alternate reality.
The feathers landing in Takeru and Hikari’s hands, activating their Crests, and helping (?) to evolve Garurumon and Greymon into Omegamon reminded me of when Angewomon and Angemon had to shoot arrows at Taichi and Yamato to give them miraculous powers to evolve. I’m sure they’re using a similar “prophecy” idea here.
Omegamon has entered the chat! And it’s only episode two. Wow. How fast does this show want to go? Omegamon is BOSS. Why do the other kids even need their digimon to evolve? lol. Oh, Yamato will leave straight after they win and they can’t evolve to Omegamon for a while anymore. :( Though Omegamon might also be a once-or-twice in a season “miracle” thing? It would work better like that so that they’re not overpowered throughout the entire series.
This episode was so very fast paced. It’s definitely aimed at keeping the attention span of the current instant-gratification generation -- but I do wonder if it’s perhaps too fast? Can they actually keep up and remain interested with things thrown at them at full speed? Because we have knowledge of the old continuity and so we are more ready to accept things like Omegamon happening now, but it might be too much for new viewers? I guess we’ll see how popular the series ends up being.
I think the quality of this series so far is better than the original series. Yeah, I know we’re only two episodes in, but the animation and direction are so much better than OG Adventure. I hope they can keep this level of quality up!
Well, that’s it from me this week!
Below are EPISODE TITLES for the next four episodes of Digimon Adventure: 2020.
They contain spoilers, so if you don’t want to know the episode titles, this post ends here for you!
SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS!
The episode titles are:
Episode 3: And To The Digital World
Episode 4: Birdramon Soars
Episode 5: The Holy Digimon
Episode 6: The Targeted Kingdom
It seems we’re going to wait a while for Mimi and Jou’s introductions. But I actually do like that they’re slowly introducing the kids, because it opens up so much space to really introduce them. The series has done a great job with Taichi, Koushirou and Yamato so far, so I’m optimistic that it’ll treat the rest of the kids right in the end, too. Hopefully?
Man I hope no one chooses the angstier prompts cuz that would break my heart D: #29 for the soulmate prompt to make up for whatever heartbreak Majima might have had over Y6? :D
I mean... you’ll. You’ll find out when you get there, I'll just leave it at that.
29.  the one where your soulmate’s ghost haunts you when they die
“We had soba last night, what’d’ya want from me?” Majima complained, rifling through the pantry.
“Majima? Something wrong?” Saejima frowned, stepping into the kitchen from the living room.
“Hmm?” Majima popped his head over the door, “Oh, nothing, nothing, just talking to myself.”
“Mmm, alright...” Saejima’s lips thinned, unconvinced. “If you’re not feeling well, we don’t have to do this right now,” he offered.
“Nah, quit worryin, I’m fine,” he muttered, waving Saejima off as he kept sorting through the pantry, “I was thinking buckwheat noodles for dinner, what’cha think?”
“Sounds fine,” Saejima nodded encouragingly, “Want me to pick up anything from the store?”
“Nah, we’re good. I got scallions and shit. Unless we’re out of those pickles ya like.” He closed the pantry door, a group of ingredients in his arms that he spread on the counter for prep later.
“I think we’re good,” Saejima said, remembering checking, “But,” he hesitated and softened his voice, “We gotta get going, we’re going to be late.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Majima sighed, pushing past him into the hall, “I’m putting my shoes on, let’s go.”
Saejima frowned after him. He always got a little funny around the anniversary. So this was probably nothing to worry about. Just what grief was like for him, probably. Still. Saejima pulled Majima’s warmest coat from the closet and piled it onto his brother’s shoulders.
Majima rolled his eyes at him.
“It’s still chilly out,” Saejima protested, “And you ain’t as young as you used to be.”
Majima snarled, zipping up his coat. “I’m not too old to kick your ass, old man,” he hissed, baring his teeth.
Saejima snorted. “Try it, we’ll see where it gets you.”
“We’ve still got time-” Majima started, even as he pushed open the front door.
“No, we don’t, out!” Saejima ordered, blocking the path back inside and ushering Majima further out where Akiyama was waiting with the car.
They drove together, amicably quiet, out of the city to a quiet little shrine on a hilltop. It was new, at least compared to the ones around it. The stone work wasn’t stained by rain yet and the name carved into the smooth black stone was as fresh and bright as the day they saw it placed there. Kiryu Kazuma.
It had been five years now. Heart disease. Kiryu had joked that at least it wasn’t violence that made his end. Not that that kept anyone’s spirits up in the last days. Majima had... he hadn’t been well for a long time after it. He was... better now. Much better than he had been. Saejima had moved back in with him, to help him cope and that had done him some good.
It wasn’t enough. 25 years hadn’t been near enough; Saejima knew that. His brother deserved more time with the man he loved. Maybe it was a lesser cruelty than other ways this could have gone, but Saejima couldn’t help thinking that Majima was always somehow only allowed half of the happiness other people enjoyed.
Each of them spoke their piece to Kiryu, letting him know everything that had been going on since they last spoke and how they missed him. Haruka had been the day before and Daigo was just leaving when they got there. They nodded, smiled, chatted for a bit, but always with a cautious look at Majima who wasn’t really... present when they were here. None of them said anything. Silently they agreed that Majima got to go last and take as long as he wanted. Akiyama and Saejima stood at the car, watching him carefully and staying bundled for warmth.
“How’s he been?” Akiyama muttered, finally broaching the topic.
“He tried to pick a fight with me earlier, so I’m taking that as a good sign,” Saejima confided, “I think it’s getting easier for him... I think.” He grimaced.
Akiyama nodded. “I remember how he...” He couldn’t finish.
Saejima bit his tongue, the memories of Majima screaming himself hoarse a wincing flash across his mind. He remembered picking him up, catatonic, and gently sponging him in the bath, only to have Majima start crying all over again as soon as he warmed up. Saejima turned hard on the valve of memory and forced it shut. He focused up on the current Majima, leaning over the grave, his lips moving as he murmured his thoughts to the air.
“He wakes up crying less,” he eventually said, voice gruff. He could feel Akiyama flinch next to him. “He smiles some days. More and more, all the time. It’s good to see.”
Akiyama let out a breath. “That’s... that’s a relief to hear. Does he um...?”
Saejima turned to him, raising an eyebrow. Akiyama rubbed his cheek, trying to put words to whatever it was. “Does he still, y’know, h-hear him?”
Saejima’s face went flat. All too recently he’d come home to find Majima sitting on the couch, leaving space for another person, talking animatedly with Kiryu-chan. He’d watched Majima’s face fall as he took in his reaction. Majima wouldn’t speak to him for the rest of that day. “Not that he’ll tell me,” Saejima finally answered.
Akiyama faced front. “Can’t say I blame him. I’d find it comforting too. If something ever happened to Hana, I think I’d-”
“Well, it’s really none of your fucking business, is it?” Saejima interrupted, voice tight.
“...yep,” Akiyama agreed, nodding briskly, “Yeah, that’s fair.”
Majima finally turned back to them and waved. They both waved back and pretended not to watch Majima walk down the path towards them to get back in the car. He didn’t look upset. He looked tired, but not like he’d been crying. Saejima knew that Majima was well-aware he was being handled with kid gloves. And that he probably resented it. But Majima never brought it up so Saejima couldn’t very well rein himself back, not when the result of Kiryu’s death had been such... desolation. Majima was probably the strongest person Saejima knew, but... Saejima wished he didn’t have to be.
“Making buckwheat noodles for dinner, ya can stay if ya want,” Majima offered when they got out.
Akiyama beamed. “Ohhh, it’s tempting, but I promised my wife I’d be back in time for her famous sour beef. I’ll bring you a plate next time. Or you can come over-!”
“Tch, yer such a sap,” Majima rolled his eye, “Get goin’, before yer wife thinks we killed ya.”
Akiyama smiled sheepishly and waved to them as he rolled off.
“I’m fine, ya know,” Majima murmured after he was out of sight.
Saejima raised his eyebrows slightly. “I didn’t say anything.”
“Ya reek of worry, bro,” Majima tsked, walking back inside, “I’m not... I’m okay. I know that I haven’t been. But I’m okay. Thanks for... y’know.”
Saejima squeezed his shoulder hard before taking his coat and hanging it back up. “We wouldn’t want you out there alone.”
“I know,” Majima nodded, “It’s kind of ya. So thanks.”
Saejima nodded and let Majima make dinner unmolested, tentatively convinced that today was a good day.
Dinner was warm and filling and Majima didn’t so much as tremble all night, even at bed time.
“You sure you don’t want me to sleep with you tonight?” Saejima frowned in on him on his way to his own bedroom.
“And listen to ya snore all night? Fuck that,” Majima groaned, ducking his head under the covers, “I’m exhausted, let me sleeeep,” he whined.
“Alright, alright,” Saejima held his hands up and flicked the lights off, “I’m just right down the hall if you need anything.” He hovered a second longer, watching Majima nod under the covers, then left dutifully.
Majima poked his head back out when Saejima has left and flipped over on his side. “We can be together now,” he murmured, stroking a face in the darkness.
There was a pause for the other figure to speak, a space on the pillow for their head to rest. Majima swallowed. “I know I say this all the time, but I miss you so much,” he whispered, “always... I know ya know. I know ya know that, Kiryu-chan. ‘Cause ya with me all the time.”
If another figure was there, it was given time to nod, to reach out and hold, to press its face close and whisper soft reassurances.
Majima sniffed. “I hate that fucking shrine... but ya heard all that earlier,” he sighed, rubbing his face and adjusting, trying to shrug out of the tears, “I’m just glad ya here with me. You’ll stay with me, right?” He blinked hopefully.
The figure, if it had had fingers, would have brushed Majima’s face. The figure, if it had had heat, would have pressed him close to melt in his warmth. The figure, if it had had voice, would have whispered, “Always.”
Majima relaxed, feeling hands that weren’t there, and warmth that didn’t burn, and a voice that didn’t breathe. “I love ya, Kiryu-chan. Wait for me.”
And Kiryu would.
(i already tried to sent this message so apologies if I seem overbearing I swear it's just to make sure tumblr isn't eating anons again) Hello! I love how you write and I would love a "hiding an injury" for dororo, possibly with Dororo being the one injured
Tumblr media
@badthingshappenbingo
Hi! Sorry for the delay! I received your first ask oops but i just needed some time to get used to writing dororo (this is my first time for this fandom after all). I hope this is fine?
Trope: Hiding an Injury
Fandom: Dororo (2019)
ao3 link
First Red
Hyakkimaru was strangely obsessed with naming colours lately but with how he reacted to getting his senses back previously, Dororo wasn't surprised. However, that didn't make it any less annoying to her when he pointed at a flower for the hundredth time that day and asked, "Dororo, is this red?"
"This is the first time he's able to see, right?" Genjirou asked, laughing. "I think we should let him have his moment."
Dororo sighed loudly as she looked at her Aniki squatting on the floor and scrutinising the flower closely. She still couldn't help her annoyance. The three of them were on the way back to the refugee village from getting her father's hidden treasure, of which they each carried a bag. So they had a ton of valuable stuff. With the war increasingly taking a toll on Daigo's land, who knows how many people are desperate to get this treasure in their hands?
It was a good thing Genjirou was around to help as well. There was literally no way Dororo and Hyakkimaru could drag this much stuff back to the village. According to the other refugees, Genjirou was a trusted friend and one of their strongest men. So far, they were proven to be right.
The unforeseen troublemaker was none other than Hyakkimaru himself. He was constantly pulled away by different sights, and when they were out of Daigo's land and were seeing more beautiful things like green hills and colourful flower fields, Dororo completely lost her Aniki to those distractions.
To make matters worse, however… She gripped her robe tighter to herself.
While trying to get the treasure, she had slipped while trying to climb the pile and gotten a nick from a bejeweled dagger (why on earth was that even there?!) on her back. She had deliberately stood where the other two couldn't see her back until the sun set and she was safe to mend her clothes and patch herself up.
It really should have been a simple affair with the injury being so shallow. She started the next day without a thought about the wound but it was starting to burn and twinge under her clothing. She couldn't see the wound no matter how she twisted her body but when she reached back to touch it, it wasn't a lot of blood. She knew immediately what it was. Years spent around bandits had taught her this meant her wound was infected.
Usually, she wouldn't mind just fixing the wound herself but, unlike previously, Hyakkimaru could now see exactly what she was doing and she'd have to explain herself, which she'd really rather not do. It would be pathetic to admit to Hyakkimaru that she got the wound from a stupid fall.
But there was an even bigger reason why she's not doing that: Genjirou would see her.
Aniki already knew she was a girl. Somehow or another, blind as he was back then, he still managed to figure out she was a girl. But Hyakkimaru was not a blather mouth so it was fine. Who else can he tell things to anyway?
Genjirou on the other hand… He was popular in the village, and he was talkative. In this trip alone, Dororo had learned more about Genjirou and the other refugees than she had in the week she spent with them before heading out.
There was no way she was letting him find out she was a girl.
So she kept her mouth shut. As the day dragged on, her wound throbbed away, draining her energy bit by bit.
***
The mid-day sun was blazing above the travelling group, and the sweltering weather was already unbearable, yet somehow, Dororo's wound felt hotter still, swelling to a worrying throb. Even the tiniest movement on her part would set her robe scratching agonisingly against her raw flesh.
She had also drunk quite a bit of water but somehow she still felt endlessly parched. Maybe it was because of how she panted with each and every exhausting step she took. Her chest was heaving and it occasionally stuttered, giving way to fatigue for a second before starting again.
Things were uncomfortable to say the least. In fact, Dororo was lightheaded and feverish with pain. She just hoped she'd make it through today and get some much needed rest.
"Dororo…"
Her eyes snapped up to look at her Aniki's brown ones. It was still slightly weird not to see wooden eyes when she looked at her Aniki.
"Are you alright? Your face is… white."
Playfully, Dororo rolled her eyes. "Putting your new words to use so quickly?" she teased in an attempt to dodge the question.
Hyakkimaru with his eyes back was far more expressive than he used to be. Right now, there was the slightest tinge of pride in his eyes. However, that was quickly replaced again with worry. "There is something wrong."
"What is?" Genjirou asked as he slowed his pace to match the other two.
Internally, Dororo groaned.
"Dororo looks very white."
"Oh right, he does," Genjirou said as he knelt down and held her by the shoulders. "Are you feeling ill?"
Scowling, Dororo shoved him and backed away. As she did, a wave of nausea overcame her and she had to take a few moments to compose herself as the feeling faded slowly away. "I'm fine," she said as nonchalantly as possible. "Just a little tired."
"Should we rest?" Genjirou suggested. "You are a child after all. Of course you would be tired."
A wave of anger surged through Dororo. "No need," she snapped as she tossed her bag from one shoulder to the other. She felt a sharp pain on her back and valiantly held back a wince. "Let's continue walking."
She marched on without them. Compliantly, the other two followed behind. However, as they continued on, Dororo could feel her feet beginning to drag harder and harder against the sand, nearly tripping several times in the uneven ground. Several times, she caught her eyelids closed for at least 5 seconds, and sometimes she would feel her stomach lurch with the urge to puke. But she kept it in and trudged on.
Suddenly, Hyakkimaru let out a barely audible gasp that hitched on his throat. "Dororo," he said, catching up with her. "There's red on your shirt."
She looked down at her side. Sure enough, there was a dark patch on her green robe. The wound must have burst open with her excessive movement.
Genjirou yelled, "That's blood!"
The look of alarm on Hyakkimaru's face was strange. He rushed forward and his trembling hands hovered over Dororo, not daring to touch her as he just looked at the patch of dark dark red seeping through her shirt.
It was then that it occurred to Dororo that he had probably never seen blood before. How ironic to have so much blood upon your hands but only just seeing it for the first time.
"Look, I'm fine. This is nothing big," Dororo said.
"Let me take a look at that," Genjirou said, reaching over.
Immediately, she slapped the hand away. "No!" Her vision began to blackout but she held her gaze in place in a feign. Her vision returned in spots and she realised she was swaying dangerously.
Silently, Hyakkimaru touched Dororo's forehead with his hand. His cool palms shook ever so slightly. "You are warm," he said. "You're not okay."
"I'm fine!" she insisted as she pulled away from the other two and charged ahead. However, as she walked, she tripped on thin air and suddenly the world was beginning to tilt violently to the side. Her sight went dark even as she felt herself fall and hit the ground. The ground vibrated as loud footsteps came towards her.
She opened her mouth to insist that she was fine. But her consciousness faded as she heard Hyakkimaru's panicked voice call out her name.
👹🍅💥🏀 ⭐🍏 🐉 💧🐟🍇 🔮🌸🌷 ❤️ 🧡💚💗 for chieko Mika yasu shigeo kazuo please ;)
I’ve decided to answer these in multiple parts....I hope thats alright with you ;v;
This one will feature Chieko and next on will be Mika and so on...
But thanks for the ask ^^ The questions are really fun to answer
Chieko
👹 How does you OC act around different people and how does their personality change to match the environment they’re in? How do they act with: friends, family, strangers, children or their lover(s)?
Chieko’s behaviour mainly depends on whether she’s talking to someone her age or an adult. Though the closeness to whoever she’s talking is also a large factor.
She’s very polite and well-behaved when talking to adults. If it’s authority-figures or people she admires, she’s very cautious with her words and tends to be a bit shyer. If she’s a bit more closer to them (Satoshi, Daigo, Shoji), she’s a bit more open and more comfortable to vent and rant though.
With people her age, she’s usually more or less polite with strangers, but if you rub her off the wrong way she might become more snarky quickly. Around her friends, she’s definitely more than comfortable to rant and whine about how frustrating everything is. She’s definitely grouchier and quicker to nag, but at the same time she’s also more cheery (if she does end up in a good mood) and less stiff. She’s the same around her family and also the Ibusakis.
🍅 How easily is your OC embarassed? What subjects make them flush and why? What event has made your OC the most embarassed they’ve ever been?
It’s rather easy to make Chieko fluster. She’s not much used to praise and compliments, so that alone can make her blush. It only gets worse if it comes from anyone she holds admiration for.  Given that she’s also pretty innocent in that regard, anything sexual will certainly turn her into a tomato as well.
Then there’s also the feeling of being out of place. Chieko does have some insecurities about her looks and thinks of herself as insanely plain. When she’s put into a pretty dress and sent to a fancy party, at times (not always but sometimes) she tends to feel small and stupid being surrounded by girls that she thinks are just so much interesting than her.
💥 Are there any emotions your OC doesn’t know how to deal with, doesn’t understand or hates having to feel? Any reason behind this?
Chieko is certainly conflicted about the attraction she harbors for Shigeo Eizan. She’s pretty confused about how she’s perfectly aware about how excellently he lies and how cruel he is, yet still she can’t help but to feel drawn to him despite the NUMEROUS warning-sings. She’s greatly inexperienced with love and lust to begin with honestly. She never had much of a Love 101 course so to speak, meaning she never really had any innocent teenage-flirting with a nice, uncomplicated kind-off guy but rather gets thrown right into the advanced course.
Another thing she’s honestly rather unfamiliar with is true, deep grief but most of the kids honestly are.
🏀 Does your OC have any skills that people wouldn’t expect them to have? Do they have a hobby or pass time that others would consider strange or weird? How did they learn this particular skill or pick up this hobby?
She actually knows archery. It was taught to her by Yuki’s father who’s just simply very enthusiastic about bows and arrows and wanted to show it to his grandchildren very badly. Chieko’s not perfect at it and she has less and less time to practice it when she grows up, but its still something not many would expect.
She also knows how to play violin, which is also something not all too many know. She just wanted to learn it as child to impress kids at her school and because she liked the instrument honestly.
⭐ Does your OC like to sleep alone or do they enjoy sharing their bed? Have they been to any sleepovers? Have they ever been camping? What did they think of the experiences if so?
When they were very young, Yasu and Chieko at times did sleep in the same bed. It was always rather fun for both of them, as they could tell each other stories till deep in the night and such. She also, to this day, at times has to share a bed with her little brother. Sleeping with Takahiro can be a bit more annoying, because Takahiro certainly loves to poke and tease his big sister a lot and falls asleep very hardly. However, once he is actually asleep, Chieko can’t really deny that another presence in bed is in one or the other way comforting. She won’t think of it as a great necessity though, until she actually shares the bed with a romantically loved one. Because then she’ll grow very fond of it.
🍏 When your OC says “I had a bad day” what does that tend to mean? Is it really as bad as they’re saying or are they being a bit dramatic?
Chieko has a little knack for overacting a bit and she can certainly be a bit overdramatic here and there. Her saying „I had a bad day“ can very easily just be a string of just plainly annoying events that frustrated her enough to be grouchy for the entire day afterwards.
🐉 How religious is your OC? Do they pray to any god(s) or do they not believe in that kind of stuff? What is their view of religion in general? Where do they believe people go when they die? If your OC is not religious why not and what do they believe in otherwise?
Chieko likes to say she’s an agnostic atheist. Personally she does not believe in any deity. However, she’s also one to pronounce that there’s no way of her safely knowing that there’s no deity or such. She just thinks that the proving of wether god/an afterlife exists or not is outside of mankind’s capabilities.
Despite not being religious herself, she does think of religion as immensely interesting. Chieko’s a history-nerd in the end and the impact religion had on humanity all around the world is massive. And that’s just something she finds intriguing to analyze.
💧 What is something from your OC’s past they’re the most ashamed of and why? What is something they’re really proud of? And lastly what is something in their past that could make them shake with dread?
There was a time in which Chieko, desperate to make female friends, would try to make herself out to be more exciting. She’d occasionally make untrue additions to stories she’d tell in an attempt to make them more thrilling or funnier. It’s something she has resigned off from long ago and she’s cringing whenever she thinks back to it.
What she‘s, so far, most proudest over is getting invited to the inauguration party of Totsuki‘s new library wing. She got said invitation thanks to various teacher‘s recommendations as they named her as an excellent example of intellect on Totsuki.
🐟 What was your OC like as a baby? What were they like as a child? A teenager? An adult? How do you think they’ll develop ten years into their future? Twenty years? Will they live to old age?
Baby!Chieko cried quite a lot and mind you, she was fairly loud. Her parents always had a pacifier somewhere near because of it. Baby!Chieko was also fairly clingy to her father and would sometimes start to cry whenever he set her down.
She remained a crybaby throughout childhood and would begin crying at any sort of slight misfortune. As a young child, Chieko was immensely shy and soft-spoken and she was practically famous for hiding behind her father’s legs at all times. At the same time, she showed a lot of intelligence early on and began reading and such at an early age while also always having a lot of enthusiasm when her father taught her something new.
As a teenager, Chieko ultimately toughened up a lot more, mainly thanks to Totsuki’s rough environment and the fact that she had to fight repeated battles over the rights to her room. She’s not as easily brought to tears as she was a child anymore and she also became more snarky throughout the years. At the same time, she of course kept on expanding her knowledge in a wide array of fields and grew into a little genius. She’s capable of more than people give her credit for, but sadly barely any of the people close to her have noticed that she grew out of her former crybaby-self.
Once she’s an adult, Chieko will have become a lot more confident. Both in her talents and also her looks actually. She’ll grow into someone very assertive. Career-Wise, she won’t become a chef that opens restaurants and stuff. She’ll probably keep on operating in the landscape of culinary, yes but in a different field than restaurant-owner. By the way, but once she’ll be a mother she’ll actually be much of a worrywart as her father was.
🍇 Does your OC have any bad habits? Does your OC have any addictions like smoking or drinking? How did they fall into these habits and why?
Chieko tends to overwork herself. Sometimes she just forgets to take breaks and then her mother finds her having fallen asleep on her books while studying for exams.
She only drinks on Polar Star Parties. She’s a lightweight though and does not really know her limit all too well. In Polar Star she has Yasu there to watch over her and also generally trustable people, but her drinking around strangers could possibly be more problematic.
🔮What does your OC think is their best trait. What is actually their best trait? What about their flaws? Are they one to admit these flaws or do they like to pretend they’re perfect?
Chieko herself would definitely name her intelligence as her best trait, but I’d say her best trait would be a combination of her hidden fighting spirit and a sense for justice.
I think a flaw of her’s is that she does barely every allow herself to just let intuition take over out of worry to escalate a situation more than it already has. She makes her moves much more slowly due to overthinking and its also what mainly keeps her inner fighter and bravery hidden from most of the world.
🌸 What’s a sentence that would make your OC’s day better? One that would make them laugh? One that would make their day worse? Why? What words would you have to say to them to completely ruin their day?
A sentence that would make her day better would be „I brought you green tea.“ She just greatly cherishes small gestures of kindness. It might not be much for the person who made her the tea, but it really makes her feel warm and fuzzy and like she matters to someone.
Chieko is super easily peeved, so there’s honestly many things one could say to get her into a bad mood. One drowner is definitely when her dormmates confess they broke one of her things again.
🌷 How much effort does your OC put into their looks? Do they care much about how they’re dressed or what their hair looks like or are they not bothered? Could they be considered a snob or a slob?
Chieko mainly puts effort in styling her hair and making sure her bun looks the way she wants it to look. She also takes pretty good care of her skin actually.
On a normal day however, she wouldn’t be bothered to wear make-up or such at this point in her life. She thinks no one would notice anyway. Her casual wear is also mainly about being decent and proper in her eyes; wether or not it’s fashionable or not is second priority honestly.
For some formal event, she’d put effort in dressing neatly and finding a nice (but still proper) dress to put on. However often her efforts just backfire, as she ends up thinking how silly she is spending so much time on make-up and dress when she’s really just a shadow on such a formal event.
❤️ What inspired you to make this OC? How long have you had them? How have they changed in the time you’ve been developing them?
Chieko was the first fanchild ever created and I’ve had her since April or so 2016…I was just really excited about MarYu and wanted to try creating a fanchild for them. Because my OTP needed a kid ahshd.
Chieko honestly hasn’t changed all too much personality-wise, although some of her more minor quirks and such changed from what I initially had in mind. What mainly changed about her is her story within SnKimiko.
🧡 What traits of your own do you see in this OC? Are they a little bit self-inserty? Don’t be shy, we all put parts of ourselves into the creations we love!
Chieko comes closest to a self-insert of my Fanchilds. Thing is, that I also relate greatly to Zenji Marui to begin with, so what can you do?
Chieko and I do have quite some things in common and also share a great deal of likes and dislikes.
But in the end there’s still things about her that differ from me. Mainly the fact that Chieko does have an actual spine, while I’m a complete doormat. Her story about wanting to prove herself to a world that greatly underestimates her because of her looks and former crybaby persona is also something that I do not highly relate to. I’ve been underestimate here and there yes, but it’s not really a major theme in my life so to speak.
💚 Are you writing anything with this OC or planning on writing anything for them? Do you rp with them or are they just for fun to mess around with?
I have….quite a few ideas for ShigeChi lately. Honestly I always have ideas for ShigeChi. I love them.
💗 Ramble a bit about this character!
Funfact, but the reason why I associate Chieko mainly with the color Blue is because Yuki & Zenji mainly wear blue in the colored version of the manga. Zenji’s polo shirt, which is colored orange in the anime-version, is actually blue in the manga while Yuki is rather often spotted wearing blue as well.
So blue became not only Chieko’s favorite color but also the color I mainly associate her with. (It’s also my favorite color, yah)
Another fun fact, but choosing a ship for Chieko was so chaotic. At first, I couldn’t really see her with anyone. Chieko is my precious baby and I needed everything to be perfect for her and out of the existing cast back then I just couldn’t really picture a very exciting romantic relationship for her with any of them. Later on I did eventually consider a few options…options that piled up more and more. There was a time where she had the most end-game-options to pick from. However, none of the options really did the ultimate „click“ on me. Finally I ended up developing Shigeo further and well…..
Dororo Epilogue/Post-ending Standalone episode
*WARNING: SLIGHT SPOILERS AHEAD!!*
So I watched the ending and I had a lot of feelings about it, and I came up with a few ideas for a standalone post-episode to explore some concepts I would like to see from the show. Fyi, the pronouns I use for Dororo vary by situation, with a preference for he/him (my headcanon is Dororo is pretty genderfluid!).
About a year after Hyakkimaru went to find himself, aka end of the series (but before the timeskip where Dororo’s hair is long), the episode opens with opens with Hyakkimaru, feeling more at peace with himself, returning to the village Dororo was developing via dad's Harry Potter level of inheritance.
Dororo, who now basically rules this village despite being a literal 9 year old, hears word from his fellow villagers that a wandering stranger with a sword was spotted helping one of the rice farmers because their horse got caught in a ditch (or anything else of that nature). Of course, Dororo immediately comes running, and barrels straight into Hyakkimaru for the sibling reunion hug we deserve.
Then Dororo punches Hyakki on the arm and gives him a hard time for leaving for a whole year without even a ‘goodbye,’ asks 'So what made you decide to come back after a whole year, huh, punk?’
In response, Hyakki pulls out a small, worn, pouch and Dororo says 'woah - Mio’s rice seeds? I thought you would’ve planted them by now already.’
With a little smile, Hyakki goes 'I thought about doing that, but then I remembered you were close with her too, so you have as much of a right to these seeds… so I decided to wait until we could plant them together.’
The rest follows as one expects it to -  Dororo teases him for becoming an even bigger softie, and they set off back to the village to grab some farm tools who Hyakki the place, as the camera pans up until the brilliant blue sky fills the frame. That chapter of their lives ends the same way it began, with Hyakkimaru and Dororo - the latter chatting up a storm while the former quietly appreciates - side by side, wandering where they must.
Then the camera pans back down, and where before there was bare paddy, the field is now golden and thriving (same as it was in the show's ending). After a half decade timeskip, Dororo is 15-16 to Hyakki’s 21-22, and the rest of the episode follows them dealing with a demon terrorizing their village, who turns out to be Daigo’s butthurt evil spirit. I don’t have a specific plot, but here are concepts that I’d love to see explored.
First, Grown up badass Dororo running her town, being like her own Alexander Hamilton, except not only does this Alexander Hamilton know finances, how to run a sovereign state, how to outsmart any opponent, rouse even the most downtrodden souls to action with just a few words, she also kicks major butt from training with her big bro. Shoutout to that one post that inspired the idea that her dad's Big Boy genes kicked in during puberty so she’s actually like... as tall as Hyakki. Maybe even an inch taller. She says to anyone who asks that her bro can 'die mad about it’ but they both know that he’s just happy she grew up big and strong.
She totally runs the town and everyone adores/massively respects her; her city takes in the refugees, the poor, the women and children, the diseased, etc, because, in her words, screw samurai and screw their wars. They absorbed Daigo’a old land after offering food, shelter, and jobs to the survivors, thus their town became a pretty respectably sized settlement.
Now, the key to all this - since they don't want to rely on samurai for their power - is the money, right? So Dororo’s power is her knowledge of the treasures secret location (and all the other badass things about her, but I digress). Imagine at some point a small gang of newer villaghers got the bright idea to try and stalk her during one of her mysterious night trips out (she calls them a way to satisfy her wanderlust, but they’re a cover for her sailing to the treasure's location to grab some cash), and they only get as far as spying her enter the docks before their plan goes to heck when they get accosted by Dororo's more loyal villagers who saw them sneaking. ‘Oh sh*t,’ they’re thinking, Dororo sauntering over to them, ‘Oh sh*t, shes got a big sword, oh man oh sh*t this is the end for me - '
But Dororo’s been there before, at the end of her rope and desperate for any edge to survive, she understands how these guys think, and if there’s one thing she’s stubborn to death about it’s that she does NOT run her town like the samurai. Instead, she talks them out of their misdoing and helps them find an honest living, Tales of Ba Sing Se Uncle Iroh style, (except with more volume and verbal threats).
Another concept with Dororo is when Dororo dresses to look like a guy when he and Hyakki take a couple horses and venture into a nearby city (for whatever plot reason), similar to how he did when he was a lot younger.
It’s not fully a secret, but only the older residents of her city know about Dororo’s 'crossdressing' habit, and are accepting of it.
Dororo mentions that while he’s in no way ashamed of presenting female, it often feels more freeing to present male, especially when they're out adventuring - less questions and stares from strangers, etc. Dororo also just likes presenting as male! This way, he identifies with both genders at different times. (It goes without saying Hyakki does his best to use the right pronouns, he never had a strict concept of gender - re: Jukai is the best mom, so it never struck him as odd.)
As for the actual villain of the episode, when she first hears of the Jerk Dad Demon attacking the farms on the outskirts of the village, she only thinks ‘it's just another demon, time to gather the crew and kill this thing-’
It doesn’t go so easily, as the demon’s exceptional strength proves to draw out the confrontation, and it even ends up escaping the first time.
The first to figure it out was Hyakki - he’s most familiar with Daigo’s wrath and the foul creature reeks of the old man. However, everything happened so fast and he sort of… neglected to inform Dororo. When she does find out, they have a short confrontation about it in classic Bickering Siblings Style. It’s understandable that she’s slightly miffed the demonic incarnation of his own awful dad, yes that one, is who they’re fighting and he didn’t bother letting her know.
Hyakki, who, even after a decade of having his voice back, isn't that great at communication/vocalizing his more complex thoughts and working through conflicts with words and thus often comes off as awkward or silently stoic: 'You were busy... and I thought you figured by yourself already?’
Things escalate when the other villagers overhear, and they almost start a riot; angry shouts accusing him of being the reason the demon attacks their settlement from the all the tired men and women, haggard from fending off attacks of not only the demon but also rival bandits and clans who want to take advantage of the city’s time of hardship. Of course, Dororo gets everyone back in lineright before the crowd got to deciding to sacrifice Hyakkimaru, reminding them to focus on the real enemy instead of turning on eachother - but the situation was incredibly bleak. With everyone on edge partially, it was easy to use Hyakki as a scapegoat due to his pacifist tendencies and his stoic nature coming across as almost cowardice.
He taught Dororo how to fight and that's pretty much all the fighting he's done since he came back to plant Mio’s rice, he’s reluctant to pick up the blade again. But the moment a demon shows up he runs off on his own, risking life and limb to confront it head on. Combined with his character’s less than stellar communication skills, it frustrates Dororo in the 'he leaves for a year and doesnt even text me when he's going’ kinda way’ - she's frustrated when he continually refuses to understand that they're family, and at the end of they day theyre kind of all the other has left. So he needs to get it together better and tell her when he’s about to go off and do reckless nonsense. His behavior also presents an interesting dichotomy as Hyakki also struggles with trying to be emotionally detached (lose worldly desires, etc.) and pacifist in the face of attacks from both demon and humans, so he needs to reconcile fighting with the others against attacking clans and risking a redescent into the demon like madness of his teenage years or standing by non violent means of supporting his comrades while facing expectations that he should do more. He wants to atone for his past sins badly and help those who are still living best he can - but how?
(And also make friends other than literally just Dororo.)
Dororo's arc is about her struggles to do the right thing as a leader - it is a lot, to run a whole city. Recent events have caused more deaths amidst her city than ever before, and moral questions about what to do with captured enemy survivors feed doubt into her mind if one day she’ll turn out as bad as the samurai, and how to continue on after having led people in battles that resulted in their deaths.
P.s. I also entertained the idea of Hyakki’s journey to find himself taking much longer, and so the first time Dororo sees him again ever since he got his eyes back is when she's 20, there's rain pouring from the dark sky as her men are carrying lamps around, accounting for the dead and defeated in a latest skirmish with a small rival band that was trying to access her city the non-peaceful way.
At first her men bring her hyakkimaru, thinking he was with the enemy (he happened to be in the wrong place, wrong time. He simply heard of a group heading to a big place that sounded an awful lot like somewhere he would find Dororo - and followed them).
And from the business end of her sword he's on his knees looking up when she goes 'nah. I know him. This bastard's got hell to answer for, but he's not our enemy.’
Events are more or less the same from there, but filled with way more tension and drama here since Hyakki basically dropped off the face of the earth for 10 ish years and Do’s mad about that because, again, he didn't even say 'bye'. So much has changed, but what hasn't changed is Dororo’s anikki's inability to grasp that if one day he went off without telling her and then died, she would have literally no idea where/when/how that was, she would never know if he was alive or dead, and the idea of living in that limbo would terrify anyone. The story being about them learning to come together again, only at the end do they plant Mio’s rice field together.
I ended up trying to flesh the first idea out more because Do & Hyakki’s relationship is all about the things that don't need to be said; that these two will always be there for the other without needing to be asked. The backbone of their relationship was built up as one that didn’t need explicit affirmation because it was already so ingrained to their characters it would be a disservice to them and a waste of time to contrive an entire plot trying to create unnecessary drama between them.
But then again... drama = satisfying character growth, so perhaps it could go either way! Let me know what you think!
Thank you for reading all this way :) I also posted second part to this of other thoughts I had while pondering why I felt the need to write a standalone epilogue.
Bonus: these gems I had in the rough draft that unfortunately had to get cut:
“But it’s harder to kill bc jerk dad demon is a jerk”
“Dororo's like 'u mean to tell me ur punk bitch biological male progenitor's demonized soul is attacking our fields??? “
“they take down the big bad dad dude daigo”
“Dororo: - pshffyeahh, ur pissy pissfaced pissbaby dad”
7 minutes in heaven - Chapter 7: Let the challenges begin
The silence in the car was disturbing. Erina really didn't expect to be at the mercy of her own thoughts and memories of what had happened. She expected more. She waited for Hisako's interrogation, awaited her phrases of disappointment, and even longed for the reprimand she would receive from her friend. She really expected everything. Except for the stifling silence that surrounded her.
She tried to analyze her friend's face. The far-off look and the breathing that, once in a while grew stronger, resembled sighs. Like a storm falling on a sunny day, Erina felt the guilt invade every inch of her body. She had been so engrossed in her own actions and thoughts that she took nothing but herself into account. And that silence was her punishment for being, once again, the selfish, spoiled girl who didn't deserve her friendship.
"Hisako" Her voice came out thin and full of guilt.
The pink-haired girl stepped out of her trance to direct her attention to the heiress.
"Yes, Erina-sama?" Do you desire something?
"Yes"
"And what that would be? I can arrange it straight away" The young secretary was already with her phone in hand, ready to dial any number"
"I wish you…to forgive me"
"Hm?" Hisako's eyes widened, and her expression betrayed her confusion.
"B... But Erina-sama! What do you mean? Forgive you for what?"
"I ... I was selfish again. And don't you try to tell me that I wasn't because I can see in your eyes that you wish you had stayed"
"But Erina-sama, you told me yourself that if I wanted to, I could stay. I came because I wanted."
"No." The blonde closed her eyes and smiled slightly as she lowered her head and shook her head. "You came because you are a good friend, Hisako."
Hisako froze. She didn't know what to say.
" Listen, Hisako. I really want you to forgive me for always need you and for you to have to give up important things because of me. It doesn't matter if you say it was your choice because we both know you never had a choice, did you? That's because you put yourself aside the moment someone else needs you, so you cease to be your own choice"
The girl remained silent. She had never stopped to think about her actions and today she was questioned about it not only by the spice expert, but also by her best friend.
"Promise me you won't let anyone nullify you again, Hisako. Not even if that person is me.
"Erina -sama ... I ..."
"Just Promise me! Promise me, please! Because I will never be happy knowing that you're not completely happy. You're not my employee Hisako! You're my best friend! And what I have discovered in all these events is that friends don't bow their heads! They quarrel, they disagree, but they also support and love each other despite all the defects and failures! So, I guess, what I'm asking you is for you be more you than me, you know? I don't want the version of you that accomplishes my wishes and does everything to please me. I want the true version of Arato Hisako. All right?"
Hisako felt the vision blur. She blinked several times until she felt a few tears fall on her cheeks. She noticed that the same tears were running down her friend's face and she smiled gently.
"As you wish, Erina-sama."
Erina let the relief form a beautiful smile on her face and decided she would start a conversation herself.
"Then tell me Hisako, what dish were you preparing?"
The girl couldn't hide her excitement as she spoke of the menu she had carefully prepared with Hayama, and Erina began to notice that her eyes sparkled every time she spoke his name.
Meanwhile in the dormitory, Soma had finally finished organize the mess in the closet. He still murmured some offense to the heiress when he came across the clean, empty kitchen. On the counter a single plate and a note written in several different letter forms.
"Soma-kun, I hope you don't mind that we didn't wait for you, is that ..." Soma noticed how the letter, which was certainly from Megumi, was a bit trembling in the last word, a sign that someone had stolen the pen. Soon afterwards the young man recognized Daigo's bold letters.
"YUKIHIRA YOU SON OF A B..." with the last word utterly scratched in the form of censorship, Soma didn't have to be a genius to know what Daigo was calling him of and went to the next paragraph, trying to decipher Shoji's lyrics.
"Yukihira, don't mind Daigo! He just envies you, just like all of us!"
Soma noticed the next sentence in an elegant and totally different handwriting from the previous one.
"Don't put me in that context." signed: Hayama
"Yukihira, you need to teach me how you got it! Teach me, SENSEI!" Signed: Marui
"Thank you for helping me win the bet." signed: Ibusaki
"Yukihira! You're so shameless! Did you have to give it a show? "
"Are you jealous Nikimichhi?"
"Shut it Yuki"
"Congratulations on your new relationship, Yukihira! It's a relationship, isn't it?" signed Sakaki
"Ah the youth! Each day more premature"
"FINALLY, YUKIHIRA! But I confess that my plan ended up better than I expected! Thank you for the show! Listening to you guys from outside the closet was really the entertainment we need, wasn't it Ryo?"
"Miss Alice is right"
"Although I was a little embarrassed, I'm happy for you guys. It was about time!" Signed: Isami
"Yukihira you bastard! You made Tadokoro pass out twice! If you ever threat her purity again I'll…"
"I'm sorry about that, Soma-kun. Anyway, we saved some of the dish Hayama and Arato made. Once again, forgive us for not waiting for you. We were all very tired."
Signed: Megumi.
Soma stared at the note with a confused expression. What had happened that night? He still hadn't got rid of the feel of the heiress's lips running down his neck. Her nail marks were still there on his skin as proof that nothing had been a dream, but the anger he felt was still there. She had made him a fool.
He tried to breathe deeply and decided that he would analyze the situation when he was rested and sober. He sat down to eat as he reread the letter until he noticed a detail that had gone unnoticed in the first reading. The young man opened his eyes wide and dropped the hashi when he realized that all his friends had witnessed, or at least heard, what had happened inside the closet. He let out a heavy sigh. He was totally fucked.
Already in the corridors of the mansion, Ryo accompanied his mistress to her room, as he did every night. She kept chattering about the triumphs of her wondrous plan, and he usually wouldn't mind, but that night, Ryo felt strangely uneasy.
"Mou Ryo! What's with face? It seems more lethargic than normal."
"Hm ..."
"Don't tell me you're jealous of Yukihira?"
"I have no reason to be jealous, Miss Alice"
"That's better be true! Erina can't have it all!"
"What do you mean, miss?"
"I mean I don't want her to steal my aide!"
"Hm..."
When they reached the door of her room, Ryo stayed a little longer than necessary. That night he actually waited for her to open the door to enter.
"See you tomorrow, Ryo!"
"Hm ... I don't think so, miss."
"What? Already thinking about replace me for Erina? That's it, isn't it? That's why you were so airy"
"It's not"
"So, tell me! Why we won't see each other tomorrow? You're my aide! You can't leave me"
The shoe-popping on the floor diverted the young one's attention. Hisako appeared at the end of the hall and made herself be heard.
"Ah, Miss Alice! I'm Glad I could find you before you went to sleep. Could you give me your cell phone?"
"What the hell Hisoko?!Can't you see I'm in the middle of an argument with Ryo? What the hell do you need my cell phone for?"
"Well, excuse me, but it's the rules of your game, isn't it? Your dare starts at midnight and, well, it's already 5 before midnight. I thought you were saying goodbye.
"DARE?"
"Yes! Don't you remember? I dared you to spend a whole day without Kurokiba"
Alice started to tremble and it wasn't because of the cold. Anger mixed with fear and stubbornness gave Alice a scary look.
"Hisoko! This is bullshit! I can't stay a whole day without Ryo! He is my aide, my bodyguard, my secretary! Who will help me ?!"
"Don't worry about it! Erina-sama and I have already arranged the details with the security guards and some people who can assist you in Ryo's absence. Now, can you please give me your phone? You too, Kurokiba."
Ryo handed the cell phone to the girl while Alice panicked at the thought of the consequences of her game.
"Come on, Hisoko, the game is over. We have already reached our goal! We don't need to take this forward."
"You've reached your goal, Miss Alice. And if I need to go on a date tomorrow, so do you have to spend a day without Ryo" She finished her arrangements in the boy's cell phone and returned it to him
"Now you can give me yours"
Fearfully, Alice still tried to hold the phone more firmly, but her hands were sweaty because of her nervous status. It was enough to make Hisako pull the device from her hands without difficulty.
"Why do you need our cell phones?"
"First, I block this number from your cell phone, so you won't be able to call or communicate through social media. At least not with your cell phone. Secondly, I added an app in which I can monitor what you access and verify that you're not going to cheat"
"You really trust me, don't you Hisoko?"
"I'd like to say yes, but that's not the case. Tomorrow we'll have a team at your disposal and that will monitor you as well. Well, it's already two minutes before midnight, so I'll let you say your goodbye. Good evening, Miss Alice, Kurokiba."
And with a respectful nod, Hisako let the young ones enjoy their last minutes together.
"This is so unfair!"
"But it was you who asked for a dare"
"Come on Ryo! Don't remind me of that" She made a pout as she bit her own cheek. She needed to be strong. It would be just one day, and she would surpass this as she always has done with her most arduous obstacles.
"We're going to get over this, aren't we?"
"Yes"
"It's going to be a piece of cake for us!" She tried to look more confident, but her frightened look didn't fool her faithful aide. He approached her, enough to put a lock of hair behind her ear and whisper.
"Good night, Miss"
Alice felt her skin warm and thought it was because of her rage. She watched the boy walk away and stopped him when her fingers lightly grasped the end of the red cloth he wore tied to his wrist.
"Ryo." He didn't turn around. He knew he couldn't resist her pleading look. "Don't forget ..." She took a deep breath and let out the air along with the rest of the sentence. "Don't forget about me, okay?"
The boy clenched his fists and promised himself that he would never do anything like that again.
"Okay," was all he could say.
all we must leave behind
Digimon Adventure Tri - Bokura no Mirai spoilers;
Characters: Hikari, Takeru, Taichi, mentions of others.
Summary: Hikari wonders who she is and who she has to become - with or without Taichi.
Hikari doesn’t hug him – he doesn’t hug her.
They spent unbearable moments apart, but, no, there’s no gentle smile of reunion whatsoever. It all fits, somehow, as if it isn’t the first time she wishes Taichi wasn’t her brother – the first time that she wishes to be older, perhaps, and wiser. You stay like that, he says. Her look of anger, his look of pained resolution, their calculated distance. It fits, it fits, Hikari steals another look at him and it fits.
What happened to them?
The future takes a shuddering breath.
                      An egg breaks much faster than it hatches, and then it’s over. What happens to Meicoomon –the ocean, its waves, Hikari’s hold on Tailmon, it’s all gone, she’s with her partner once again.
Meiko isn’t. And won’t be.
As Meiko’s arms tremble with nothing to hold, the future’s lungs are filled with dark water. Not the worlds’ future – that one they always manage to save, salt on their lips, breath, breath. But her future with her brother, it shatters, she watches feebly and wants to collapse again, wondering if Taichi would be fast enough to catch her, wondering if he would even notice.
You can hate me if you want.
“I am glad you’re okay,” she says.
To herself.
“Don’t kill her!”, she said earlier.
To herself.
“You didn’t mean it,” Takeru tries for a smile that carries itself as a frown. “You didn’t, I know you didn’t.” He repeats, as though he knows everything Hikari means and doesn’t mean to do and say.
Hikari is tired. And Takeru’s expression is starting to look a bit too much like Taichi’s old one, in another life, another world.
“I did.”
He flinches slightly at her tone. A writer, Hikari remembers, he’s a writer, give him a word. Rare. Rare it’s a word to describe her tone, furious would be another, and they dance with meanings and some tragic sense of pride on their minds for a while.
Hikari sees the issue. It’s blond like Takeru, but a bit taller and a bit colder, and that would never happen to them.
“You won’t forgive him” and then there it is, there it is, “he’s your brother, Hikari-chan.”
“He is my brother.”  She confirms, voice suddenly even. “He is.”
“He has to know.”
“That he is my brother?” She smiles like a hunter. “He’s aware.”
“That you didn’t mean it, Hikari-chan.” He insists, pale. “He has to.”
The conversation does not end, but they dive into a silence impossible to come back from.
Hikari apologizes. Profusely.
She always does.
Sometimes, she wonders if being sorry is the way she touches the world, the only way she knows how to exist.
“I should have never talked to you like that, Takeru-kun,” her hold on her cell phone tenses, “I am so, so sorry. It was cruel and unnecessary and so unlike me and you were only trying to help –”
“It’s okay! Really, it is, don’t worry –”
“Of course I worry! The look on your face, it was so sad, I’m sorry I put it in there.”
“It was a… stressful day. You had every right to lash out a little bit.” The line goes silent for a second and Hikari looks absently at the window.
The blue, clear and almost shining sky seems to deepen Takeru’s words. It was a stressful day. It was. It was. It is not that day anymore, they’re safe and everyone’s memories are back where they belong. It is not Meicoomon’s death day, it isn’t, but Hikari feels like she’s cutting Ordinemon up herself at the very moment they speak.
“And I was… a bit invasive,” Takeru is careful, “I’m sorry. You’re your own person. You know what you mean and what you don’t.”
“I… can see why you were so upset. I was surprised myself. But…”
“It’s okay, I understand. You meant it. It’s the truth, as simple as that.”
“We could have saved her.”
Takeru does not breath for a second. She feels it. That’s how she knows she won’t get an answer.
“But... Have you at least talked to him?”
Hikari looks at Taimon’s sleeping form on her bed.
She hasn’t.
Tailmon’s electric blue eyes, as if sensing something, open a bit, and she smiles sleepily to her partner. Something heavy sets on Hikari’s chest. She hasn’t talked to Taichi about them and the reason Ordinemon was born, and hasn’t said a word to Tailmon about the shadow – the Wizardmon-shaped shadow, vision, hallucination, whatever it was.
She’s full of secrets, she realizes. Perhaps the biggest of them all is her own personality. When Hikari saw Ordinemon coming to an end by Omnimon’s sword, she felt something settle inside her. I cannot be who I am anymore, she realized, I must be someone new.
Who is she, now?
A child? An adult? Something in between – more than simply being a teenager, is she caught up in a third element other than light and darkness?
Takeru’s voice repeats itself on her mind, You’re your own person.
But she isn’t. Hasn’t been. Sure, she is kind. Very, very idealistic. Altruist in such a way someone could consider a flaw instead of a quality. She’s brave. But there’s something she is more than the rest. She is Taichi Yagami’s younger sister, to an extent that she does not have a place of her own in the world.
Takeru’s voice is calling her name on the phone. He’s a writer, she remembers once again, give him a word;
Onii-chan.
“It was you.”
It’s a simple phrase.
“It was me?” Taichi echoes, as if he does not understand. He doesn’t. Hikari sighs. It’s a simple phrase.
It hurts like she’s declaiming an epic poem, giant and agonizing. It was you – you see, Onii-chan, it wasn’t your fault, but it was you, the absence of you, the idea of not having you.
“I thought – I thought you were dead, gone forever, lost in the Digital World, I thought I could never reach you again.” Reliving the feeling is agonizing. Hikari takes a breath to steady herself, find some harmony within her battered body. It does not work. What do you do when breathing is helpless?
“And then Tailmon dark-evolved and got absorbed,” her brother shakes his head in silent terror. “And almost wrecked our entire world.”
Summoner of destruction.
“Yes. I couldn’t… It was too much for me.”
“I see.”
Do you?
“How… How did it feel? Allowing SkullGreymon to be born, I mean, when we were kids.”
She surprises them both with the question. Hikari knows why she asks what she asks, though. She wants to feel close to Taichi again, even if for such a reason; the only ones on their team that have made their partners dark-evolve, the Yagami siblings.
“You first,” Taichi does not look at her, “I want to know about what happened yesterday. Everything.”
Everything? He won’t ever know everything, what it is like to lose a sibling, even if for less than a day – Hikari stops. He does know. He has lost her before, a long, long time ago, for a few days in the hospital. If they had the Digimon at that time, would SkullGreymon have been born years earlier? Would Taichi end a world that does not have her?
Not anymore, she guesses.
Hikari tells him, then. The “everything” he can know, that does not convey half of her despair, Takeru’s firm, warm hands on her shoulders and her barely audible wish, I want to disappear.
She still does.
Disappear just like Meicoomon – how can she live the way she used to after Meicoomon?
Well, Hikari smiles sadly to herself, I did live with the fact the Wizardmon never came back.
“It felt awful, making Agumon and the others suffer like that. SkullGreymon was the result of my mistakes,” Taichi starts, taking a sip of his juice, “of impulsivity, fear, the idea that I could do everything by myself, always.”
“I wasn’t there,” she murmurs, because she really wasn’t. She was sick, like she usually is.
Taichi’s smile is distorted and does not belong on his face, “If you were, it would have been much worse.” Before she can feel hurt, he goes on, “I don’t know how Agumon didn’t dark-evolve again, when you had a cold facing the Dark Masters. I was a wreck.”
“I’m –”
“Don’t say you’re sorry.” He interrupted, frowning, “You say it too much, kid.”
Kid.
“It… was similar with Ordinemon, I guess. But I’m not sure. I don’t remember much of what I was feeling aside from pain.” Hikari’s hands aren’t trembling, not quite, but they’re getting there. “Everyone was suffering so, so much.”
“Are you better from that fever you had?”
She is. But she is not better from many other things.
“You look lost, Hikari.”
I am lost.
“I am lost.”
Taichi finishes his juice, puts the empty glass on the kitchen’s table – not on the sink, Mom won’t like it – and returns to the sofa, expression heavy.
“Let me help you – you have always helped me with my stuff, principally with Yamato.”
Hikari breathes. And breathes again, unable to look at her brother’s face. Her hand wants to rest on his, perhaps on the shoulder, something, some intimacy; but, like yesterday, they seem to be miles apart, in their ideas, hearts, minds, maturity.
“I don’t know who I am – actually, it’s more than that. I don’t know who I am, and I don’t know if I should be needing you to find out.” She almost gasps as the words, spontaneous and unstoppable, leave her lips. “I don’t know. I don’t know how much I need you.”
Taichi smiles – he smiles, she stares in awe, smiles kindly for the first time in forever.
“That’s how growing up feels like. You feel lost precisely with the people that have guided you the most.”
“Well,” she smiles, too, “then, growing up feels just awful.”
“It does.” Taichi sighs. “Yesterday was the proof. Hikari – I know you don’t hate me, but, if you did, you would have every right to do so.”
“You didn’t listen to me…”
“I did,” he puts strength on his words, “I listened to every word you said. And then I listened to Yamato…”
We are not the “Chosen Children” anymore. We need to choose. No matter how tough it is.
“…and I knew the Light within Meicoomon wasn’t enough. I did want to save her. But I – we couldn’t. I don’t expect you to understand it right now, but, after the things I saw, after Daigo, I just knew.”
Hikari stays silent. They won’t agree, not right now, perhaps in years to come, perhaps never. She’s the bearer of the Crest of Light. She needs to believe – as a kid, a teenager, an adult, she needs to believe.
Does she? How much? How much Light does Hikari Yagami still have in her – how much she should have? Is her brother finally a grown-up, and she is not?
“I’m still lost, Onni-chan.”
“You’ll be, for a while.” He pats her head and Hikari’s heart misses a beat.  “I know that I haven’t been the brother I used to be. But that’s the point; you soon won’t be needing him – who I was, towards you – anymore. You’re becoming…”
“An adult?”
“Yourself.”
“Myself.” She repeats. “I can’t wait to meet her.”
“And I’m proud, by the way,” he smiles again, tiny and sheepish, “for you standing your ground against me, and a bit sorry for not being close to you when I came back.”
Hikari hugs him – he hugs her.
The future coughs. Dark water splatters all over the Yagami’s living room’s floor.
They swim.
Piecing Together Adventure tri.’s Plot, Pt. 1
So, the past few days I’ve been marinating on the release of Kyousei/Coexistence. A lot of very cool people with more coherent thoughts than myself have already posted their wonderful analyses of Coexistence by itself, so I decided not to go that route. Instead, I’m rewatching Digimon Adventure tri. from the beginning and analyzing the OVA episodes based on the context we’ve been given in the most recent OVA.
To do this, I’ve decided to analyze Adventure tri. from a very character-focused perspective, as I believe that is how the series was most likely developed. There are at least four different “sides” involved in the central conflict, as well as individual character motivations for everyone involved. This style of writing is likely what has caused Adventure tri.’s incredibly complicated (and, as some have criticized, overwrought) plotline.
Here’s an outline of the main four “sides” I’ll be focusing on:
The Chosen Children, including Meiko & their ally Daigo Homeostasis, with both Gennai & Huckmon serving its purpose Yggdrasil, represented by Alphamon Maki, who gets her own category because her sole motivation (so far) seems to be getting Tapirmon back & her actions have influenced much of the plot
I’m starting off with a rewatch of Part 1: Reunion.
Reunion starts off with the vague and conceptual introduction of Demiurge. Other people in the fandom have discussed the concept of Demiurge in more depth, because it’s a very complex idea with ties to Platonism, Neoplatonism, and Gnoticism, and is interpreted differently by various schools of thought. In short, however, the Demiurge is consistently thought of as a “second God” or the “mind of God,” a being that fashioned the universe out of chaos but is unaware of the higher being (”the One”) that created it. Adventure tri. also proposes that Demiurge is unaware of Idea, in which the capitalized term “Idea” refers to Plato’s Theory of Forms - the concept that non-physical forms, or the Idea of something, are the most accurate reality.
I’m still not entirely sure how to apply this theory to Adventure tri. A few thoughts: perhaps the “Idea, the true form of the world,” as mentioned by the narrator, refers to the fact that humanity’s dreams & wishes that created the Digital World, are the “true form” of the Digital World. Additionally, one could see either Homeostasis or Yggdrasil as the Demiurge or “second god” that fashioned the Digital World out of chaos. I don’t feel confident suggesting any of the above thoughts are supported by the narrative, but I am hoping we get some more insight in Our Future.
In Reunion, one of the first scenes with which we are presented is the scene in which Alphamon defeats the 02 kids. In the context of Coexistence, we now know that Alphamon is fighting for Yggdrasil and opposes Homeostasis, which - in my opinion - suggests to me that the 02 kids had already had some contact with Gennai or Homeostasis that skewed their mission in Homeostasis’ favor. After all, the Chosen had no reason to distrust Gennai up until that point; they perceived him as an ally. Consequently, I have reason to believe the 02 kids were being manipulated by Gennai and/or Homeostasis to fight on their side up until their defeat and possible capture at the hands of Alphamon.
Following this scene, the main plot continues in the background of seemingly mundane, slice-of-life antics. Reunion’s focus on Taichi & Yamato, however, serves as a sort of vehicle to present each Chosen child’s individual motivations and conflicts. Taichi & Yamato, as usual, are pitted against one another because their soccer game & band concert are scheduled on the same day around the same time, and it forces the other kids to show where their loyalties lie. Sora can’t choose between the two; Koushiro is busy with his fancy job at an American firm, even going so far as to lie to Sora on the phone about what he’s doing; Mimi is in America, but is willing to drop everything to go to Japan and see her friends; Jou is focusing on school and his girlfriend; Takeru acts loyal to Yamato but is using his brother’s concert for a date; and Hikari is the first and only person in the crew to notice Kuwagamon and the distortions, true to her typical sixth-sense perceptiveness.
As a result, I think the central conflict, and then the resolution of said conflict, between Taichi and Yamato in Reunion is absolutely necessary in order to establish the power dynamics among the Chosen Children and also to 1) showcase how each of them have changed individually and 2) depict what motivates them throughout the rest of the OVA.
Likewise, Taichi’s hesitance about reclaiming his leadership role is foreshadowed by his inability to hand in a career planning form at school. Daigo repeatedly chides Taichi on not having his form turned in, but Taichi has no idea what to do, or which path he even wants to take in the future. That indecisiveness follows him later in Reunion when he begins to have second thoughts about leading the Chosen Children and battling Alphamon.
Now, onto the main plot. There are a few things I noticed throughout Reunion, including:
Huckmon is watching as Kuwagamon emerges from the first distortion. I honestly can’t remember where the Virus originated or if it was explaining in canon because it’s been awhile since I watched Adventure tri., but for now I’m posing the theory that Homeostasis created the Virus in order to target Meicoomon. If that is true, then Huckmon is likely watching to ensure the plan is executed smoothly.
I have noticed this before and other people have pointed it out, but when Maki is sitting in her office, she has a program open on her computer that is tracking the locations of all 12 Chosen, including the 02 kids. The 02 kids, however, have “unknown” written next to their statuses and locations.
There seems to have been some kind of mass amnesia. A common complaint about the absence of the 02 kids is that the original 8 never even think to mention that they are missing, but I’m wondering if this was purposeful. Additionally, no one in the world seems to remember Digimon existing, with the news even referring to them as “unidentified creatures.”
All of the other Chosen children around the world still exist. At one point when Takeru is on the phone with Yamato, the camera shows his laptop screen, which shows him interacting with other global Chosen through some kind of custom social network.
A common behavior in Infected Digimon, a behavior that’s reflected by Meicoomon, is that they only directly engage in battle if threatened. The Kuwagamon, for example, does not directly attack Taichi; instead, it lays waste to Odaiba until it realizes that Taichi is following it and intends on stopping it, then turns to attack him. Similarly, Meicoomon has demonstrated multiple times that she won’t display aggressive behavior unless threatened; this actually happens later in Reunion when Alphamon appears, and Meicoomon glows for a second, having an impulsive reaction to the looming threat.
Before confronting Kuwagamon, Taichi calls Hikari and tells her nothing is wrong, making the executive decision to face Kuwagamon by himself. Taichi also seems to have accepted the fact that without Agumon present, he is powerless to stop Kuwagamon. Foreshadowing for his sacrificial behavior in Coexistence, perhaps?
Kuwagamon almost wins the fight against Garurumon at the Haneda Airport, but Alphamon’s hand reaches through a distortion and pulls him away. Could it be that Homeostasis sent the Virus, and Alphamon, on behalf of Yggdrasil, is doing everything he can to get in Homeostasis’ path? At this point, Alphamon seems to have no interest in fighting the Chosen, but it is also before the Chosen Children ally themselves with Meiko and Meicoomon.
One of the most interesting tidbits in Reunion, to me, is this:
Tumblr media
Maki and Daigo have been getting their information from Gennai. This means that, unbeknownst to them, the National Data Processing Bureau and likely the Chosen Children have, up to this point, had the information given to them skewed in order to further Homeostasis’s agenda. This is all really interesting to me, because it suggests that something insidious has been going on from the very beginning. The Agents (with a capital “A,” referring to Gennai’s race of human-like beings living in the Digital World) created the Chosen Digimon partners in order to protect their world from the Dark Masters and Apocalymon; however, did they create the original five’s Digimon partners, too? Has every team of Chosen been manufactured by Homeostasis and the Agents in order to serve their purposes and keep the Digital World “balanced”? Gennai’s influence in the Bureau is definitely something I’m going to keep an eye on throughout this rewatch.
As a side note to this, I am reminded of Maki’s appearance at the end of Pt. 3, when she confronts Gennai on the cliffside. I think it is most likely that Gennai contacted Maki first and is manipulating her to do underhanded things under the guise of promising her that she’ll get Tapirmon back.
Besides that, Koushiro also gives us a pretty nifty outline of what has been going on in Odaiba for the past year during the team meeting under the bridge. He says,
About a year ago, normal portals to the Digital World closed
Their Digivices began malfunctioning
There has been significant radio disturbance in Odaiba, followed by mystery blackouts
Wireless networks went down, causing poor cell phone reception
New spatial distortions have been occurring, allowing Digimon to pass through the distortions in space to the human world
All Digimon emerging from the distortions up until this point have all had some kind of “new mutation,” the Virus
Koushiro concludes that everything he listed above has been the result of these spatial distortions, which are negatively impacting electronics and allowing random portals to and from the Digital World to appear. He also goes on the modify Taichi’s goggles, allowing him to detect distortions by observing data flow and spotting areas in which mass data has gathered densely together, causing a distortion.
Something else that is interesting to me is that everything is occurring in Odaiba, specifically. Did the distortions start happening in Odaiba first before Meiko & Meicoomon moved in, or did Meicoomon lure the distortions away from Tottori and to Odaiba? In any case, Meiko & Meicoomon seem aware of the fact they’re being followed, because Meicoomon doesn’t even flinch when Alphamon appears in front of her; in fact, she readies herself for a fight. Alphamon also does not seem to care that Meiko is in the line of fire as he is blasting at Meicoomon. This suggests to me that Yggdrasil does not care if the children get in the way. Yggdrasil & Alphamon had no hand in assembling the teams of Chosen, and they also have no qualms about eradicating the children as long as the end goal is achieved.
Huckmon is also at the scene, observing, when Alphamon appears. However, upon recognizing Alphamon, Huckmon’s eyes widen and he promptly teleports away. I find this interesting when looking back at it now that I have seen Coexistence; Huckmon clearly noticed Yggdrasil making a move and left to avoid getting involved in the battle.
The last thing I’m going to mention before not-so-gracefully concluding this first analysis is that Meiko’s Digivice changes throughout the series. I have noticed some people pointing out how Meiko’s Digivice is definitely black and sparking purple lightning in Coexistence. However, this was not the case right off the bat.
Tumblr media
As you can see, Meiko started off with a perfectly normal Digivice. The transformation occurs later in the OVA. Could this be a result of the reboot? Or perhaps, Meicoomon slipping further into despair and terror?
I have to admit I’m not excited about rewatching Pt. 2 because it was probably my least favorite of Adventure tri. so far. But I’ll try to get that done + finish my analysis of it soon. Stay tuned!
Symbiosis thoughts.
All right. Let’s do a live re-watch of Symbiosis. I lost all of my thoughts from my other account.. SO i can’t even compare them. *sighs* Looks like I’m starting from scratch.
- i was pleased that most of my theories pertaining to maki and Meiko were correct. We had the confirmation that Maki and MM had planned on using Meicoomon to initiate the reboot. But that the plan was moving in action as far as 1999 is pretty amazing. It really shows how much Meiko had to go through with Meicoomon’s berserk behavior. Also how much time Maki had to wait for this day. Even MM was saying he had been waiting for this opportunity for years. Which begs, “when did this Gennai even appear?” I originally thought he had recently appeared like in the last year. But seems this Gennai clone has been around for longer. Guess the real Gennai forgot to mention that too! Big surprise there.
-Takeru calling Mysterious Man Gennal. Ok takeru I forgive you for calling MM ken now. :)
-Gotta give love to Mama Yagami. Always thinking of her kids. Making sure a meal was put on the table, waiting for them. This really brought me to tears. Actually,  a lot of stuff did. lol
-Called Apocalymon’s data someone getting into Meicoomon’s egg as we see in Saikai. Since Meicoomon was supposedly born in 1999 it was more and more likely that it was Apocalymon’s data that got into her egg. THe helixes were a pretty big hint too. Since the data probably prevented Meicoomon to be rebooted. Only option was to kill her and revert her to an egg so she could be reborn without bad data. I’m not the only person to realize this. I’ll get to that later.
-The digidestined running around and falling into pits was hilarious as hell and I couldn’t stop laughing from this point on. OMG that’s why I needed to rewatch. My eyes were closed laughing so damn hard! I only wanted Taichi to fall down a hole, not you guys!
-The silly anime faces were hilarious. I like how that did that. It was nostalgic in its own sense. We don’t see silly anime faces a lot in anime these days like we did in the 90′s. So this is refreshing.
-i really liked the cave scene where everyone was comparing themselves to Meiko. They brought up what they knew and learned from their first adventure. It really tugged at my heart strings. This part made me feel like i was watching Digimon again. It was good. Really good.
-As out of place Agumon’s food obsession has been for the last few movies. THey really brought the punch lines at the perfect moments. Cave scene was perfect comedic timing .
- Papa Daigo comes into play. He only wishes the best for those kids and it really shows. Even questioning why he was Chosen...
-the sudden meichi moments really seem forced. It probably wouldn’t bother me so much if they had a small bit more interaction in previous movies.
-On the first watch through. I had to yell at the police that asked “DO you realize what is happening with the world right now?!” my response, yeah, they do. Three times over, actually! (1999, 2000, 2002) Though in their defense the kids didn’t realize the DIgimon were causing so much damage already. It looked peaceful in their area.
-Daigo was so damn cool during the police custody scene though. Love this guy. During the school scene, I missed Daigo chiming in with Hope. He was really struggling with his Chosen Child status this movie.
-I was worried that Meiko was going to be portrayed as crying and unmotivated the whole movie like she was in COnfession. But she continued to take action and was hardly crying. It’s understandable how in these first two parts she was down. Because even though she is trying to do her best to be a good partner. Everything keeps going wrong. Meicoomon still went berserk in the end and is causing so much damage in the real world. Her words couldn’t get to her. It’s understandable how Meiko is down. But after some encouragement, she does get back on her feet and faces some hard choices this movie...
-Hikari saying you never know how scary a situation is until it happens to you really rings true what’s happening in our world right now. With the US and it’s insanity. It’s a bit scary to think that even though the sky is blue and pretty outside... Not even far from you something horrible is happening.
-Scary stories at the school was fucking brilliant by the way. I loved this! It was so damn funny! It’s a really great Meiko moment too.
-I don’t know if people are complaining that Meiko took all the light this movie. But Taichi was the real show stealer here. He had some great scenes and the courtyard was one of them. We hadn’t seen much of this Taichi in a while i feel like.
-Agumon and Meiko was a hoot too. Him and his stomach and not understand Meiko and her heart. Aaaah. What a hoot.
-I loved the split screen evolutions. They took creative liberty on them and it looks neat to see. Also cuts the time down by a lot too.
-WHo exactly we are supposed to fight is what we’ve been wondering for 5 movies, Taichi. DOn’t worry. You aren’t the only one, buddy.
-Raguelmon coming into protect Meiko proved there is still a bond there. This is so important to remember later. Even if they have to kill Meicoomon or she dies. That bond is still there and can be reformed. There is still hope. Despite what Homeostasis and crew thinks about Meicoomon losing absolute control. They are wrong...
-Hikari telling Homeostasis to get the hell out of there was freaking awesome. Greatest moment she’s ever had.(that’s a sad thing to admit. She should have had more in the last two seasons and movies. ) Hikari may have had not much in this movie, but that’s not to do this movie. But next movie certainly leaves the door open for more for her. Especially since Meiko’s story comes to a resolution of sorts this movie.
-Once they hopped into the Digital World, I did hope that my theory that Alphamon is one of MM digimon that he can snap in to existence like Imperialdramon. But not today I guess.  Guess everyone is too busy to wonder why Daigo can actually in the Digital World.  Hey kids, think Daigo is a chosen? Too busy? Okei dokie. As they say, action now, questions later.
-Maki being in the dark ocean completely caught me by surprise. I wasn’t expecting that element to appear. Even the weird creatures are there!! I thought, “oh, there’s no time for the Dark Ocean to be introduced.” But as part of Maki’s story, totally fits. Also,I really doubt Maki is drowning to her death. I’m sure she’ll be fine. After an epic redemption that is. I mean, she’s already shooting guns at those things! You go you crazy axe girl! She reminds me of Riza from FMA. SOmeone’s gotta take care of the useless boys in the rain.
-Now the scene I absoulutely love. The moment i realized that needed to happen. THe reboot didn’t get rid of Meicoomon’s virus. THe only solution is to kill her. Meiko realizes this. I had hoped the writers would go this route. Of Meiko realizing Meicoomon was only causing suffering to the world and to her friends. That Meicoomon was constantly suffering inside. That the only thing to save her was... to kill her. I am so glad that Meiko came to this realization too. Her character has grown so much and I am so damn proud of her. I cried during this scene, because I  knew what she was thinking. I felt for her so bad. Her character arc comes to its resolve... She understands. (See? Now next movie can focus on other things.. Happy haters?)
-I’m sure Taichi and Daigo will be okay. But that was intense.  I really hope Daigo can get to Maki next movie.
-I really wish Hikari wasn’t still so reliant on her brother. Maybe this leads into good development next movie. Or so I hope.
-Meicoomon and Ophanimon fusion was indeed freaky as hell. Holy shit. Next movie is gonna be crazy...
-I was all for crazy Hikari. But daaaamn. To think it’d happen! Well, she isn’t walking around with a bloody hatchet, but close enough! COmmanding that fusion thing to destroy everything.
-I think the Dark Ocean even collided with the real world. YOu can see the dark ocean water pooling and going up in a spiral then the real world behind it..
-I always had Yamato in mind as the “leader” to pick up the pieces of Taichi ever fell. Now he has. Now get to see how this continues.
-Hey, how about that other kid that inherited Taichi’s goggles? We should see them too.
Hi there! I was reading your Kashiwagi’s content and let me tell you I loved it so much! He is such an amazing character! Would you be comfortable to write something about Saejima as well? Pretty much the same thing, so what happens when he finds he is in love with Reader? It is ok if you don’t want to, please be safe and thanks again xxx
PREFACE
Hey again, dear! As promised, your ask made it into this ongoing batch and since I was so excited to get working on it right away, it even ended up being made as the second one, cheers tot hat. What I realized after finishing up the writing is that I’m not 100% certain if I’ve written exactly what you wanted since rather than rely on what I did for Kashiwagi, I went with “what if Saejima realizes he’s in love” scenario. Hope it’s all good still and if not, do let me know and I’ll write even more ;) Again, thank you for stopping by, hope you enjoy and have a fantastic weekend!
SAEJIMA FALLING IN LOVE
Finally free from the heavy burden of the Ueno Seiwa massacre, Saejima is slowly getting his life back together, learning how to live in this new reality step by step. Having his own family within the clan and the support of friends he made along the way back to Tojo has been a significant help, though there are many things he still does not fully comprehend. Phones are weird and so is that little Daigo he remembers as an annoying brat, suddenly all grown up and leading the whole ass clan like a pro, but then there is that one thing that he simply cannot get a grasp on at all. Relationships. Romantic ones in particular. He barely ever had the time to think about it in his teenage years and now that he’s older, supposedly wiser, he’s got absolutely no idea about the modern ways of courting a person.
And frankly, he never thought he’d need the knowledge. He was ready to live his life out without a partner, instead directing all of his time and enthusiasm into supporting the growth of his family and clan. Tojo always comes first, after all. Saejima sacrificed so much for it’s sake, that it feels like there is simply no turning back and past that point there was simply nothing good he could offer anyone. He’s not charismatic, a bit socially inept even and doesn’t know much about things that people like these days. There would be no way for him to keep an entertaining conversation for long enough to interest someone with himself. Or so he believed right until you entered the picture.
The two of you get introduced through a shared acquaintance, which just so happens to be Baba-chan. Knowing that whoever you are, you got the seal of approval of one of his closest companions and that’s more than enough to let the tiger be slightly more relaxed and open towards you. Despite not being one for pleasantries and foolish small talk, Saejima tries his damndest to follow the basic steps of etiquette he still remembers to leave a good first impression because holy smokes. You have absolutely caught him off guard. He finds you attractive, that’s for sure though at the time he doesn’t quite realize it, but more importantly, the way you speak, move around, all the little quirks and flow he sees in this brief conversation you two share makes him think of you as positively fascinating. There is something about the way you speak with him, specifically him - he concludes after getting to see you with Baba-chan a few times - is hitting home and hard. Like you see him, the real him. The man with many scars, all the best years left behind in prison that has chewed him up and spit him out right into the confusing world of modernity.
You start meeting up every now and again. Sometimes you give him crash course in some techy nuances, sometimes it’s just an evening of you venting and him listening patiently and giving out the most straightforward advice he could come up with and at times you even get him to tell some stories of his own, especially in that cute Kansai dialect. It doesn’t take long for the two of you to seriously hit it off, to the point where Baba-chan starts questioning if he’ll ever see his friends again. It’s all friendly fun and games until one day, as you’re standing on a rooftop in the chilly winter evening, gusts of wind ruffling your clothing and hair, if the strands are long enough. Saejima is looking at you again, as he finds himself doing often, letting you go off on a tangent about a hazy memory from your past. The tone of your voice he knows so well now feels soothing, the way you speak etched into his brain to replay at restless nights. Not even he is dumb enough to confuse this feeling he gets. It’s love, budding at the core of his heart, warm and filling like a nice meal.
Despite usually being blunt about his emotions, he decides to keep them secret from everybody. For the first time in a while Saejima wants to make an effort for something other than his clan. He may be imperfect, dangerous even, but you have embraced it once and he hopes that you will do it again, as this time he offers you his all - the mind, the body and the heart - and will do everything in his power to make you fall for him. Again and again, and again as both of you grow, change, learn to love each other anew every time.
