This song's got a special place in my heart. I remember watching this specific music video over and over on one of the many Thomas DVDs I had as a kid.

The song's a bop, and the model work that went into absolutely destroying these props is an impressive feat.

And then Headmaster Hastings went and made it even more of a bop.

It's a great song to listen to when life has decided to kick you in the coconuts, and you need help remembering that's just a part of life in a lighthearted way.

The granola she had forced down felt uncomfortable in her stomach— hard and nauseating, as if she'd swallowed little pebbles instead of the fortifying breakfast they usually were. Ugh. She shouldn't have had anything. Not today. Not when she was seeing Kieran again.

Selene lingers in the hallway, face hot, arms hot, hands cold, dread and longing mixing impossibly inside the cavity of her chest, head swiveling at every footstep she heard, starched shirts and black Jimmy Choo's slipping in and out of offices. Somewhere in there was Kieran.

Somewhere in there was the person she held closest to her heart. Not for the first time, Selene curses her father for having to meet in these circumstances. And not for the last time, Selene curses herself for being complicit in the betrayal of her own heart. And maybe her best friend too.

But years had passed since college— it was possible that Kieran simply didn't care. Maybe to him, she just represented the faded imprint of nostalgia. Textbooks wet with the circle of a beer can. A tight embrace before finals week. Maybe it didn't matter to Kieran she was engaged to his brother, and training her would simply be a chore rather than the marathon of pain it felt like to Selene. Maybe he barely thought of her at all these days. After all. Wasn't he essentially running a Fortune 500?

Selene tucks her fingers her fingers into her chignon for an unnecessary adjustment— it looked fine, it always looked fine when she was so careful about the imagine she cultivated. Her father made sure of that. What no amount of adjusting could fix was her heart, which sat in her chest flayed and raw and aching.

I've been back on my nostalgia shit and now i made a self insert for - of all things - tommy the choo choo. She's for both it and Shining Time Station, since i tend to mix the 2 together in my headcanons.

So the story is I planned on visiting my sister in Durham but end up boarding the wrong train to shining time valley. While staying there I met its cast, including a certain magical blond. This may after TATMR, or could be different events from the canon. But I start to fall in love with the cozy town and its history. That and Im the only other adult besides stacey and Burnett who can see the conductors. Eventually i do visit my sister but come back to visit as kuch as I can. Finally i decided to quit my job and move in at the local motel to work in bookkeeping.

After I help stop PT Boomer and his gang from stealing Lady, and further adventures, I end up joining Shining Time full time as a conductor/guardian.

Now I have several designs: one of them is green and Im called the Green conductor, as a refernce to the line "green for glory" and the cut song "Girl in Green." I want to form something of a trip with the conductor cousins (blue) and stacey (red).

Other outfit is a maroon-pink get up inspired by Lady. I also carry a sword because im the brawler. Yes I do like figthing. No i do not need to see a therapist. And since I have a connection to Lady I want to stick to a victorian theme, like by day i dress up to talk to visitors about the history of the valley and Lady's creation. Third outfit is a mix of the two.

with all of the trainees gathered in the auditorium, they were met with KWON SOYI as she begins with a cordial greeting, “i hope all of you enjoyed your time during the legacy variety show special. thanks to everyone’s efforts and the never-ending content that the team received, i’m here to tell you that the show was a success. this may mean in the near future the company might consider doing it again, but for now there’s another show that is interested in having the trainees featured there once again.” she smiles at the trainees, knowing that what she’s about to announce is one that may interest many of them.

“about four years ago MNET offered us a music show program called ‘NOSTALGIA’ and many of the debuted artists that you know have actually been a part of this show. this time around, MNET has allowed us to film 7 weeks of content for the show. it will still have similar elements that it was known for such as performing old kpop songs, however there is a general and recurring theme with these songs as some of you will see once i show you the schedules.”

during the months of APRIL and MAY all of the trainees will begin learning their assigned songs so that they can start performing them around JUNE. since we know some of the training groups will be smaller than others, it’s safe to assume that training groups with less than 5 trainees have npc trainees.

SPECIAL GUESTS

SOYI announced a surprise for all of the trainees, “for some of you that may have guessed the theme for this season’s of NOSTALGIA, we have decided to bring in some special guests for the final episode of the show. as one of the groups known for these kinds of concepts, AGITO will make an appearance and perform ‘HWEEK’. and to gain some tips from your fellow senior artists, V&A’s JIHO and YUSHIN will be visiting during the last week of practice ( sometime around MAY ) for ‘BLUE HOUR’ and ‘DO OR NOT’. i strongly recommend listening to their advice and suggestions so that on the day of the finale, all of you do their songs justice.”

as mentioned JIHO and YUSHIN will be visiting all of the training groups during that week to evaluate the performances and point out any areas that the groups would need to work on.

This is a musical entry I was originally going to save for Halloween 2023. But I’m a lazy bastard, and right now I’m riding high on all the hits I’m getting from nostalgia train content. For those who are just joining me on my blog, I’ve been digging up the fragrant bodies of dead bands for nearly two months now. And this kind of mass graverobbing wouldn’t be complete without a tune from the gothic girls of Switchblade Symphony. I have and can only recommend a handful of goth acts, and this is because I utterly hate nearly everything about goth rock. However, unlike the vast, vast majority of modern goth music, this group actually had some exceptional qualities that contributed to their cult-favorite status. A duo comprised of two goth girls from San Francisco, SS’s history began in the late-late 80’s and petered out in the late 90’s. They ended up putting out some songs and albums that were good, and some that were better than good, especially for their time… managing to stay afloat AND very successful in a veritable sea full of dark-rock + mascara-dripping + mopey-faced disposable plastic dogshit. These ladies managed to become more memorable than their 90’s goth contemporaries by boasting a sublimely poetic, operatic, harsh and lush sound that few can or have broached in the same exact way since this band’s demise. Their songs were drenched in thick orchestral dark wave and their live shows were intimate and heavy on audience participation. Sometimes, listening to their music is like watching a dreary and tonally unsettling stage performance unfurl in your mind. They were just plain fun to watch perform because of their (at the time) fresh dark sisters schtick which made them seem more like characters than actual people to me. Like many others, SS was the first goth band I ever managed to come across, cementing them as something of a standard bearer in my mind for what quality goth rock should sound like. Near as I can figure, when they broke up in the late 90’s they went on to try some solo projects and then went on about their lives as semi-normal people. This after having toured all over the country, had their songs appear in some American movies and shows, and been immortalized in the canon of symphonic rock cult legend history together. This is Soldiers from their 1997 album Bread and Jam for Frances. Smash play and enjoy dear listener, and thanks to the heroes of goth music like this that at least made the tunes quasi-listenable.

lgc trainee mission 017, nostalgia, preparation

It happens after their performance of Ah-choo which should be expected but comes to Asami like criticism always does. Like a slow-moving supermarket cart that goes over her toe. It’s a little painful when it happens, but soon enough, she’s over with the pain and just decides to pay more attention to her surroundings.

Ah-choo was already a song Asami knew she lacked charm to pull off, so when the feedback came, it wasn’t exactly surprising, but rather, disappointing. She, like everyone else, has worked very hard, but it doesn’t matter if you work hard if your heart isn’t into it, and despite really liking this song, Asami knew she wasn’t a 100% focused on the task at hand.

“You’ve done quite well so far, Asami, but I must be honest, for someone who has been training for as long as you have, I expected something better. You lacked understanding of what you were performing, and that has been a recurring problem if I’m not mistaken, right? Though, I don’t think lack of understanding is the problem here. I know you’re not a slow learner, but you keep putting barriers within your own abilities. What are you scared of exactly? Because this is your time to mess up. I don’t want you making mistakes on the stage, so why do you keep self-sabotaging?”

Asami is heading towards her fifth year as a trainee, so honestly? Hearing those words feel quite bitter in the back of her throat. She has never the most confident or extroverted trainee, but the first thing that pops into her head when her mentor says that is “it’s because I’ve been here too long.”

Truly, Asami doesn’t know why or how to stop it, if she can or if she will. Maybe she should seek professional help from a therapist or psychiatrist and stop relying only on her teachers and seniors. And for the first time since January 2020, Asami thinks, “or maybe a more drastic career altering option.”

I was sorting through some storage boxes recently and found some curios from the dark depths of UKCAC ‘92 including this item a ‘TOM DEFALCO’ autograph card.

I have such fond memories of that time. In fact when I started TALES FROM THE QUARANTINE I made sure to reach out to all of those folk from Marvel U.K. that were so inspiring and accommodating to 13 year old me at the con.

The passing of Paul Neary recently has sent me back down a MARVEL U.K. collection rabbit hole and I’ve unearthed some fun stuff like this card. Tom DEFALCO and Paul NEARY gave me some great portfolio advice that day, and LIAM SHARP, ANDY LANNING, GARY ERSKINE and all the other attendees signed a multitude of items. If I remember correctly they gave everything on the table away for free so I asked for multiple copies for my buddies. My poor old dad had to carry around bags of posters, badges, comics and trading cards all day. It would be our last con together before he passed. Great memories were made.

A couple of years back I considered relaunching / producing a large UKCAC revival and sought the blessing of its creators to use the name, out of respect . The original producers preferred it stay as a great memory and moment in time, and whilst it saddened me, I can absolutely see their point. It was a unique moment in time.

Ahhh the 1990s cartoons, yep I was a fan of many, Dexter's Lab, Ed, Edd & Eddy, Hey Arnold, Recess and Rugrats to name a few! Also 1990s video games too, like Crash Bandicoot, Croc, Gex, Spyro, etc. The other day as I still own my ps2 and I found my old copy of Bugs Bunny Lost In Time and decided to replay it, ahhh the nostalgia and memories.

Yooo, Dexter's Lab takes me sooo far back! I loved to watch that show! It's one of the shows I watched that helped me learn English when I was going to elementary school!!

Also that's a stellar choice of games there, anon! Especially Crash Bandicoot and Spyro have a special place in my heart!
