The meaning of nostalgia, summed up in a single line and in the span of 5 seconds…
Through the New Year, I hope I don’t forget the ledge, leading me to embrace the last leg - chasing me like a wild horse named Fate.

I was tagged by @latveriansnailmail who is one of two that keeps doing this to me so I’ve caved in.
Nickname: None. Though sometimes Geeky calls me “sötnos” and I wanna slap her in the face every time.
Zodiac: Cancer/Leo
Height: 164 cm which I think is 5'4 ?
Last movie I saw: The Suicide Squad. At the Cinema. With my mom. She was hiding her face half of the movie because she hates gore and she still said that she loved it.
Last thing I Googled: “roll20 token maker”
Favorite Musicians: Does Ginny Di count? She just released an album called “Song to drown sailers to” which is like, yes! Go look it up.
Other then that I honestly don’t have any, I listen to random music that shows up. Most musicians I like does covers. I guess I’ll say: Jared Halley, Jonathan Young and annapantsu.
Song stuck in my head: Ginny Di jingle: “she’s danger, she’s gloom, she lives in your bathroom MERMAID-GIRLFREND!”
Other blogs: nope
Blogs following: 340, and like, 2% of them are active. I should really go through it…
Amount of sleep: I sleep for like 10-11 hours… I shouldn’t though
Lucky number: am I allowed to say 42? No? I guess 6 then. Or 23. When I was a child it was 10. Lucky numbers are hard.
What I'm wearing: Black dress and The Traveler hoodie.
Dream job: Marine Archaeologist (but the contstant marine biologist meme is starting to change my mind to that one)
Dream trip: Maori. Or just something small, tropical, not too comercial. I wanna dive in coral reefs. I also wanna visit that place where the ocean just swallows up and it’s just like a black hole. Amazing. Wanna swim there.
Languages: native Swedish. Fluent English. Understands but can’t speak Norweigan, Danish and a little bit of German.
Favorite food: that is soo different, I eat the same thing everyday for a couple of months and then I switch and eat something else everyday. Right not it’s ready-made fish and chips.
Play an instrument: I could play drums and the cello… but I’m pretty sure I can’t anymore.
Favorite song: I know the Wellerman is old news, but I love all the different versions of it. Annapantsu’s and Alina Gingertail’s versions might be my favorites.
Random Fact: My home is a mix of gothic, historic and nerd ™ but it stil looks really good somehow, and I always get compliments on how nice it is.
Describe yourself as aesthetic things: Old books, fairytales, bare foots on snow in the midwinder night, assorted knick knacks, deep ocean where the sun never reach, shiny math-rocks makes click-clack sound, knee deep in a lake in the forest with flowers in hands, waiting for the nokk to take me away…

can. can you do all the questions? I love learning about how people in other countries live.
gfdgfdhfgd of course! just gonna put it under a cut so it’s not too much of a nightmare on mobile
favourite place in your country? halmstad, probably. it’s a smaller city on the west coast and I just really vibe with it hgfjhgfgd
do you prefer spending your holidays in your country or travel abroad? definitely at home, although I don’t mind traveling
does your country have access to sea? we do! atlantic in the west and the baltic sea in the east
favourite dish specific for your country? ostkaka, definitely. it literally translates to cheesecake but it is not cheesecake at all
favourite song in your native language? at my old choir we sang this really nice suite called förklädd gud, meaning god in disguise. if you have half an hour to spare I can really recommend it
most hated song in your native language? okay so this is gonna be a long and probably controversial story but basically there’s this old book turned movie in sweden called karlsson på taket or karlsson on the roof and when I was a kid I hated the titular karlsson with a passion, so his theme song still sends me into a primal rage
three words from your native language that you like the most? blunda, because it’s a word for closing your eyes and english doesn’t have it. mysa, because it’s a word that’s basically being cozy but like. a verb and I love that. and fika because it’s just the best word and also the backbone of swedish society
do you get confused with other nationalities? if so, which ones and by whom? people tend to confuse switzerland and sweden and it’s upsetting
which of your neighbouring countries would you like to visit most/know best? I’d like to go to finland!
most enjoyable swear word in your native language? helvete
favourite native writer/poet? I don’t really read poetry, but my favorite author is probably jonas jonasson
what do you think about English translations of your favourite native prose/poem? once again, not that big on poetry
does your country (or family) have any specific superstitions or traditions that might seem strange to outsiders? I mean thanks to ari aster midsummer has probably gotten even weirder to outsiders
do you enjoy your country’s cinema and/or TV? swedish cinema is generally pretty terrible, but the movies that aren’t always have a very special feel to them that I absolutely adore. also house of orphans is a masterpiece
a saying, joke, or hermetic meme that only people from your country will get? springer du med armen?
which stereotype about your country you hate the most and which one you somewhat agree with? the stereotype that we’re tall because I am decidedly not that, however the stereotype that we all eat meatballs is definitely true
are you interested in your country’s history? yes! it’s just a bit difficult because I really like the viking age and norse mythology and that happens to be what a bunch of nazi fucks have decided to latch onto
do you speak with a dialect of your native language? I try not to, but it probably slips in a bit
do you like your country’s flag and/or emblem? what about the national anthem? I think our flag’s pretty neat, as for our emblem I think the three crowns are alright. finally the national anthem’s neat, although it never actually mentions sweden hgjhgfjghf
which sport is The Sport in your country? soccer, thanks zlatan
if you could send two things from your country into space, what would they be? jimmie åkesson because I hate him and I want him out of here
what makes you proud about your country? what makes you ashamed? we have some really well preserved nature and I think that’s neat. I’m very ashamed of SD, though. they’re a nationalist right wing and really racist party that’s gaining so much traction lately and it just makes me livid. also the way we’ve treated the sámi people really makes me ashamed to be swedish
which alcoholic beverage is the favoured one in your country? snaps
what other nation is joked about most often in your country? norway, every time. we have a whole genre of jokes dedicated to making fun of norweigans (the best of which is “how do you sink a norweigan submarine? you swim down and knock”, don’t @ me)
would you like to come from another place, be born in another country? not really. I’m a huge fan of welfare
does your nationality get portrayed in Hollywood/American media? what do you think about the portrayal? not a lot, save for midsommar of course, which is just. conceptually hilarious to me and every swedish person I’ve asked about it
favourite national celebrity? abba, definitely
does your country have a lot of lakes, mountains, rivers? do you have favourites? we have some really nice lakes! I couldn’t even tell you my favorite hghgfjhgffd
does your region/city have a beef with another place in your country? it’s more like. everyone has beef with stockholm ngl
do you have people of different nationalities in your family? my grandfather was finnish (also the funniest bitch alive but that’s a different story)

Premiers to look forward to (part 1)
The other day I was at the movie theatre to watch Borg/McEnroe (will probably post a review soon), and I got hold of one of those cinema magazines where they present which films are about to premiere. I really love flipping through that kind of magazines and just go “Ooh, I wanna watch that one! And that one... And that one too!”. Anyway, I thought that it would be nice to show you a list of the film premiers that I look most forward to right now. And also, I have only picked out the ones that are released before New Year so that we won’t have to wait too long.
Stronger Ok, so this seems like the perfect film for me. I’ve always had a crush on Jake Gyllenhaal, and to be fair, apart from being gorgeous he is also a very talented actor. I also love running so I really look forward this picture about marathon runner Jeff Bauman, a survivor of the 2013 bombing of Boston Marathon. This is a real life story, and while there’s always a possibility that films like this turn out too sentimental, from what I have read, Stronger might be something else.
Tumblr media
The Snowman The Snowman is a crime thriller about detective Harry Hole, based on the novel with the same name by Norweigan author Jo Nesbø. Directed by Tomas Alfredsson, who brought us the masterpiece Let the Right One In as well as the 2011 adaption of Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and starring Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Chloë Sevigny, J.K. Simmons and David Dencik, it seems like this film simply can’t turn out anything other than great.
Tumblr media
The Nile Hilton Incident This film is something as rare as a Swedish production, set in Egypt, and with Arabic as its speaking language. The story takes place during the Egyptian Revolution, and is a thriller starring Fares Fares as a police officer who investigates the murder of a woman, which turns out more and more complicated.
Tumblr media
Loving Vincent I really don’t know too much about the plot of this film, but I just couldn’t help but including it since it is the first fully painted movie in history. It’s basically a film about the life and death of Vincent van Gogh, and stars a couple of famous actors (I am not entirely sure how their acting is incorporated in the film though).
Tumblr media
That is all I have for now! But don’t be alarmed - I’ll be back with more soon enough :)

Dreaming of a tropical destination, a bit of winter sun, but put off by the rising flight prices?! Have no fear, today I am going to tell you how you can find RIDICULOUSLY CHEAP flights at a fraction of what you’d expect to pay! I just found return flights to Frankfurt from London for £9 on Sky Scanner!
Why so cheap?! Well, empty seats make the airline absolutely no money. They might as well fill them and make some money. Sometimes they are trying to compete with other budget airlines and promote their company. But sometimes these mind-blowingly cheap deals are just errors by the flight companies. A decimal point in the wrong place, a mistake made with currency conversions. These deals don’t last long before the airline rectifies them but they are out there for the taking!
Here are a few AMAZING deals I just found right now!
London – Reykjavik, Iceland return flights £46
London to Varadero, Cuba return flights £279
London to Auckland, New Zealand return flights £414!
After you’ve secured yourself some amazing flights like these ones, you may want to check out my other travel planning articles:
A Comprehensive guide to planning your trip
Group or Solo travel? The good, the bad and the ugly
The real girls guide to training for a big trek
The ultimate packing guide for hot and cold weather

So here are my TOP TIPS to get you those flights
1/ Be Flexible
It’s much harder to find those awesome deals if you are restricted to specific dates. Try and keep your dates flexible. Always look for dates 2 or 3 days either side your preferred dates of travel. Often you can save a LOT of money by flying a day earlier or later.
2/ Be open – minded
If you’re not too fussy about where or when you travel, you can get some amazing travel deals. I absolutely love the feature on skyscanner which allows you to search for the cheapest deals in the world at the cheapest time. This is how I find some of my best deals! Sometimes it inspires me to travel to places I hadn’t even considered! Just select ‘anywhere’ in the location box and ‘cheapest month’ in the dates box!
3/ Don’t fly direct
Often making slight diversions can make the most of a budget leg of the journey and bring the overall price down considerably. Good if you are not limited by time. Not so good if you hate flying and just want to get there as quickly as possible!
4/ Use more than one search engine
Not all search engines will flag up the budget airlines. Not all will offer the same deals. This is because the most budget airlines won’t want to pay a booking commision to the flight search website – you may need to go directly to their websites to find the best deals.
5/ Fly out of season, midweek and during the night
It’s obvious really. If you want to fly at times that lots of people want to fly, prices will be higher. So I hate to point out the obvious but if you want to fly at a bargain price, you might need to set your alarm clock a little earlier!
6/ Make use of student discounts
If you are a student or are under 26, you can often get great deals, especially with STA travel. It may be worth investing in an NUS extra card – the money these costs will be far outweighed by your flight savings.
7/ Visit Budget carriers website directly
A few great examples of budget carriers are Norweigan airlines, Wow and AirAsia. You may not get all the flashy extras – the soft blankets, the complimentary headphones, the impressive film collection, but you will get much cheaper flights. And hey you can even spend that money on a trip to the cinema to watch those films, have popcorn AND money left over! At the end of the day, don’t forget a flight is there to get you from A to B.
8/ Sign up to Airline mailing lists
Be the first to hear about amazing flight deals and nab them before anyone else discovers them. It’s worth signing up to airline newsletters for airlines that fly to destinations you regularly go to!
9/ Sign up for Frequent Flier Programmes
Fly enough and you may become eligible for free flights, free upgrades and complimentary companion tickets. Chose an airline which has an alliance with several other airlines so you can earn points on flights with several airlines.
10/ Consider getting a travel rewards credit card
These tend to have higher interest rates so only get these if you fly regularly and if you are good at paying your debts off every month!
11/ Search as an individual
Even if you are flying as a couple, always search individually. The reason being that it will search for seats together and select the highest price to base the flights on. Find flights individually and then chose seats together at check in!
12/ Buy your flight using a different currency
If you live in a country where the currency is strong, consider booking in a weaker currency version of the same airline! If you use a no-foreign transaction card to pay for this you won’t incur any surcharges! I use an Easy FX currency card.
13/ Book flights 6-8 weeks before you fly
Research has shown the optimum time to book a flight at a great price is about 2 months before you fly! Don’t wait too long hoping for a better deal – often they go up! Whilst you are waiting, get planning the other aspects of your trip! See my trip preparation guide!
14/ Sign up for price alerts
Some online search engines such as sky scanner will update you when prices start to creep up or drop! This can be useful deciding when the best time is to buy but be careful holding out too long!
15/ Keep alert for airfare glitches
To get those super low airfare error prices, you will need to stay alert as they don’t last long. Never book accommodation and activities until you receive booking confirmation so that you know everything has gone through properly! Best places to keep up to date on special flight deals are http://www.secretflying.com (they find stupidly cheap prices so you don’t have to.) Follow them on facebook or twitter to have these fab finds show up on your newsfeed! Here are a few deals they have currently;
Another great way to keep up to date with the best flight deals is to check out Airfare watch dogs daily top 50 deals or to sign up to Jack’s flight club – check out his facebook page here.
So it’s now time to plan your trip! For more help planning your trip, see my planning guide!
