Smoldering Soul (2)
( Original )
Jaune sauntered through the Emerald Forest, a definite feminine sway to his hips as he made his way towards the northern gates of Vale. Nothing was a threat to him during his short journey. The few Beowulf and the one ursa that crossed his path, reduced to smoldering ash with but a snap of his fingers.
The guards were hesitant to allow him entrance into Vale proper. There was something off about the young man standing before them with a twisted cruel smirk upon his lips. But he had the proper identification, so they allowed him to pass. A lingering sense dread was in the air, long after the figure had passed by, vanishing into the maze of streets of the city.
Jaune moved through the ignorant populace of Vale. Embers of hatred, anger and cruelty smoldering in his heart and soul. The urge to protect, to be a hero slowly dwindling as he walked into the first boutique his journey crossed.
An hour later he emerged, his ratty clothing gone. In it's place more form fitting androgynous wears. He had received many looks and questioning glances from the staff inside, but his lien was good so they set aside their misgivings and served him as they would any other paying customer.
Even now as he sauntered through the streets, those passing him gave him curious glances. Unsure of what who he was, and what he was trying to announce with his style of dress. Jaune didn't care. They were all but fodder to him. Minor inconveniences to be burned away if they should interfere.
It took him an hour, and the sun was beginning to set by the time he had reached his destination. Standing across the street from the Club, he watched. The music was thumping, the heavy bass easily heard outside, and every time the door opened to let someone in... the volume multiplied ten-fold for a few moments.
Jaune had heard through Yang's bragging that this was the place for information. That with the right amount of lien you could get answers to your questions. Jaune had no spare lien after the purchase of his new outfit... but he did have something else.
Walking past the entrance and into the back alley he moved. His footsteps light and carefree. There was nothing in this city that was a threat. nothing that he couldn't deal with. The burly guard moved to block his entrance through the rear door. Jaune smirked.
Guard: You can't be back here. The entrance is in the front.
Jaune: I wish to speak with Junior... this is... a business call.
Guard: Too bad. You want to speak with the boss, make and appoint...
The guard felt like screaming, but he couldn't. Searing pain filled his lungs as Jaune pressed a single finger to his exposed chest.
Jaune: Take me to see Junior... and live to see another sunrise.
Jaune withdrew his finger and the guard dropped to his knees, hacking and coughing. Bloody phlegm dotting his lips and splattering on the pavement.
Jaune: What will it be?
The guard just nodded, still trying to catch his breath. Struggling to stand, he opened the door and allowed Jaune to enter. Another guard just inside the door moved to intercept, but a shake of the first man's head indicated that the female member shouldn't act.
Guard #2: Are you here to see the boss?
Jaune: I am.

Why BC Is Stands Out as the Ultimate Destination for Heli Skiing
When it comes to heli skiing, Canada stands as a global epicenter, offering unparalleled experiences amidst pristine wilderness and snow-covered peaks. In this guide, we embark on a journey to explore the history, allure, and why British Columbia (BC) remains the quintessential destination for helicopter skiing in Canada.
A Brief History of Helicopter Skiing:
The roots of heli skiing delve deep into the mountains of British Columbia, and one name synonymous with its history is Hans Gmoser. This Austrian visionary, who settled in Canada, was not only a pioneering guide but also a filmmaker and a founding member of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides (ACMG). In 1963, Gmoser's daring idea took flight when he used a helicopter to transport skiers to the remote slopes of the Bugaboo Mountains in the Purcell Range. Two years later, he orchestrated the world's first commercial heli-ski weeks from an old logging camp near Radium, BC. This endeavor eventually evolved into Canadian Mountain Holidays (CMH), the largest helicopter skiing operator globally.
Why BC Is Stands Out as the Ultimate Destination for Heli Skiing:
British Columbia's claim to fame as the ultimate heli skiing destination is well-founded. With over 20 heli ski operations, BC offers an abundance of untouched wilderness, ensuring solitude for every adventurous soul. BC's heli ski tenure system guarantees exclusive rights to each operation's skiable area, making encounters with other groups virtually nonexistent. Whether you're a backcountry novice or a seasoned expert, BC's diverse terrain caters to all skill levels.
What truly sets BC apart is its prodigious snowfall. The northern latitudes and Pacific storms consistently blanket these mountains in deep, pristine powder. BC's mountain ranges, though smaller in stature compared to the Alps, deliver a captivating blend of alpine bowls, glaciers, and tree skiing at lower elevations. This versatile terrain offers skiing conditions that are unmatched elsewhere.
Moreover, BC's status as the hub of helicopter skiing has fostered a unique infrastructure. Guiding associations like the ACMG and CSGA provide specialized training for heli skiing guides, ensuring safety and expertise. Heli skiing and snowcat skiing have become integral to BC's tourism industry, contributing nearly $200 million annually and supporting approximately 3000 jobs. From lodge staff to chefs and guides, BC boasts a cadre of highly experienced personnel.
Conclusion:
In the realm of helicopter skiing, Canada, and specifically British Columbia, is an unrivaled treasure trove. Its rich history, unparalleled terrain, abundant powder, and world-class infrastructure make it the ultimate destination for adventurers seeking the pinnacle of backcountry skiing.
When it comes to experiencing the thrill of helicopter skiing in Canada, Northern Escape Heli Skiing is a name that shines. Since 2004, they have been offering small group heli skiing in Northern BC's Skeena Mountains, near Terrace. Their boutique heli ski experience, deep powder skiing, and stunning Mountain Lodge continue to attract riders from across the globe.
Embark on your heli skiing adventure in British Columbia, and let the exhilaration of untouched powder and breathtaking landscapes redefine your winter escapades.

Yup! In the 1980s in Brooklyn, I was called Star Child, Crystal Child, Indigo Child, much to the annoyance of my parents. Jewish, disabled, queer, seen as "an old soul" and told I held untapped power.
In the 90s, my summer jobs included helping out the local "Metaphysical Books And Tools" boutique in my little Long Island village. I actually learned a lot. About how subtle racism and elitism can be, especially in little Northern towns full of rich folks. I wonder what those folks now think about neurodivergence...
Looks like it's time to talk about starseeds and the New Age movement again.
Since I'm seeing more starseed content being posted, I'm gonna make another post on why the whole starseed thing and the surrounding New Age belief system are... not good.
So for those who don't know, New Age mythology is essentially a hodgepodge of cherrypicked and distorted myths from various cultures, racist pseudohistory, and far right conspiracy theories. To put it very briefly, starseeds are supposedly here to help Earth resist the reptilians, a race of politics-manipulating, war-starting, media-controlling blood-drinking aliens. For those who don't recognize the tropes here, these are basically all antisemitic canards. The reptilian alien myth as most know it today comes from David Icke, who ultimately cribbed a bunch of his material from The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion, a Russian hoax created to justify violence against Jews. He was also influenced by the work of people like Fritz Springmeier, a hateful crank who based much of his work on other hateful cranks.
(David Icke, by the way, also claims that transgender is an evil reptilian conspiracy. You'll never find just one form of bigotry with these people.)
There are supposedly numerous alien races out there, and one of the most prominent among them are the Pleiadians, AKA Nordics. While modern depictions of the Pleiadians give them more variety in skintone, there's no denying that older Pleiadian mythology basically pictured them as Aryans In Space, even associating them with the swastika.
You see what's going on here? "Good" swastika-loving Aryan aliens versus "evil" Jewish aliens? Sound familiar?
Racism isn't just a tangential part of the starseed myth, either. It lies at its very core. It's inextricably tied in with the ancient astronaut hypothesis, which has a history of racist motivation behind it. The TL;DR is that a bunch of white people couldn't believe that non-white people had built a bunch of things they couldn't figure out how to build themselves (EG, the Great Pyramids), so they proposed that the real builders were anyone from Atlanteans to aliens. (Atlantis, by the way, never existed; it was a literary device created by Plato.)
One supposed purpose of starseeds is to help the world "wake up to the truth," which basically just means "convert people to New Age spirituality." New Age believes that world peace is contingent on a majority of the world being converted to New Age belief, and that resistance against their belief system is ultimately the work of the aforementioned reptilian aliens.
To put it another way, New Agers think they understand other cultures' spiritual traditions better than the actual members of said cultures, and think that anyone who disagrees with them is being manipulated by the conspiracy, or is an agent of the conspiracy. This includes Indigenous cultures which are already endangered from white Christian colonialism.
Essentially, endangered cultures cannot speak up for themselves and resist New Agers' efforts at cultural assimilation without being labeled a problem and an enemy. It's basically white Christian colonialism repackaged as "spiritual, not religious."
Again - if you heard from these people that some ancient text or myth describes extraterrestrial beings visiting our planet for one reason or another, you heard misinformation. They twist and misrepresent literally every myth and text they get their hands on. For example, you may have heard that the vimanas from Hindu traditions were actually alien spacecraft. They were no such thing. Or maybe you heard that the Book of Enoch describes aliens performing genetic experimentation on humans. It literally does not. At best, all of the stories they cite just kind of sound like aliens if you ignore most of their content and pay no attention to their cultural contexts.
The starseed movement preys on alienated people, especially autistic people and people with ADHD. You can look up nearly any list of signs that you're supposedly a starseed, and many of them will align perfectly with characteristics associated with autism and/or ADHD, or that people with these conditions commonly report. Some people within the movement even go so far as to claim that ADHD and autism don't even exist, but were actually made up by the conspiracy as a cover to suppress and control starseeds, which is some yikes-as-hell ableism.
So basically, people are being told that if they have these certain characteristics or symptoms, that means it's their job to spread New Age spirituality to defeat the conspiracy and help others ascend to the fifth density.
And what's the fifth density, you might ask? It's supposedly humanity's next evolutionary level, because New Age is also based on biological misconceptions. Supposedly once everyone's DNA "upgrades," they'll essentially morph into an aetheric form. Supposedly, this is preceded by a number of "ascension symptoms," including depression, headache, gastrointestinal issues, and any number of other symptoms that could indicate almost anything, including stress.
What many of these people don't realize is, this prediction has already failed. Back in the 2000s and 2010s, experiencing "ascension symptoms" was supposed to precede ascension to 5D beginning December 21, 2012. One lady, Denise Le Fay, was convinced that the hair loss she was experiencing in 2008 was an ascension symptom. As we can see by looking her up, she's very much still with us on the 3D plane these days, repeating the same tired old scripts New Agers recycle endlessly.
By the way, everything you near New Agers saying today about old systems being dismantled, dark forces being arrested or kicked off the planet, and new economic systems on the horizon? They've been recycling these scripts for years now. Take a look at this page written back in 2012. You got stuff about the complete dismantling of an enormous network of sinister forces," "the arrest and removal of a world-wide cabal," and a "new economic system."
("Cabal," by the way, is a dogwhistle term for "Jews.")
Furthermore, people in this movement are often encouraged to try and access past life memories through dreams or hypnosis, which makes the whole thing feel even more real to them. But the thing is, you can have incredibly vivid experiences about literally anything you put your mind to - the people in the reality shifting having vivid experiences of living another life in the Harry Potter universe are a great example of this. Just because you have vivid experiences, doesn't mean they have any bearing on anything happening in this reality.
So yeah, the starseed movement and the larger New Age movement are both extremely harmful. They promote racist pseudohistory, medically-irresponsible pseudoscience, conspiracy theories that target numerous marginalized groups, and functionally target aliened people with ADHD and autism to convince them that spreading its beliefs is their job.

Of course, the LGBTQ+ community is welcome beyond just the beaches in the state of Nayarit. The state capital, Tepic, forexample, has a small but active gay scene, with several gay bars, as well as anannual Pride march held every June.
Among the top draws to Nayarit for LGBTQ+travelers is a lengthy list of luxury hotels, resorts and villas.Punta Mita is one of the top luxury enclaves within the state of Nayarit.
It is home to five-star resorts like St. Regis Punta Mita Resort, the newly opened Naviva by Four Seasons Resort PuntaMita, the new adults-only, 15 glamping suites; and the Susurros del Corazon, part of the Auberge Resorts Collection.
Travelers will also find other resorts along northern Punta de Mita, as well as one of the most robust villa rental portfolios in the country.
More boutique hotel options can be found in between, from the village of Bucerias up through Sayulita, San Pancho, Chacala known for its wellness offering, and San Blas for bird watching.
Nayarit is perfect for the active LGBTQ+ travelers who want to experience more than just sun and sand — though the beaches along the Riviera Nayarit are among the most pristine in Mexico, particularly for surfers. Wildlife enthusiasts can spot thousands of migratory birds in the seaside village of San Blas and Islas Marias, San Pancho, Islas Marietas National Park, a protected park known for its marine life, as well as its birds. Hiking, mountain biking and yoga are also all part of the Nayarit experience.
Visitors can also take their time learning about history and culture. Nayarit has four of Mexico’s famous Pueblos Magicos, or “Magic Towns,” that are recognized for their preserved history, culture and traditions.
Sayulita is arguably the most famous Pueblo Magico in not only Nayarit but all of Mexico, and the state is also home to Compostela, Jala andMexcaltitan. Compostela boasts splendid churches and gorgeous colonial architecture, as well as one of Mexico’s largest bird sanctuaries. The town of Jala sits in the shadow of the Ceboruco volcano, which is a beautiful spot for hiking or watching the sunset. Mexcaltitan is known as the Venice of Mexico, thanks to the canals that form within the streets during the rainy season. The car-free island is splashed with brightly colored houses and features some of the best seafood in Mexico.
The beauty of the state of Nayarit is that it offers a little bit of something for everyone. Every type of traveler, regardless of sexual orientation, has their own style and vibe – and the state of Nayarit has a resort, community and experience to match.

Kyle 'N Louie went in search of the young soul rebels, and they found them! You might not know some of the wild stories behind Dexys Midnight Runners' first album (one of Kyle's number one faves), but don't worry, we will take you to Soul School! Also, the boys get into a lush 70's Dion song and pay tribute to our beloved Pete Shelly of the Buzzcocks, who we sadly lost this week. And then, Louie hangs out to play some more Kick the Jukebox-approved tunes!

Marc Ribot’s Ceramic Dog — Hope (Northern Spy)
Hope by Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog
Marc Ribot’s unorthodox right-handed playing style, developed under the tutelage of revered mentor, Haitian classical guitarist/composer Frantz Casseus and honed to a polished sheen during his storied stint as an R&B sideman, sounds quite natural at this point in his eclectically nomadic career. Given his technical fluency, Ribot is justly celebrated as a session player, but he is much more than that — intuitive enough to have profound influence as an esteemed collaborator, the unsung hero teasing out idiomatic layers in Tom Waits’ music and lending soulful texture to numerous Elvis Costello records, just to name two of his most enduring creative partnerships, and passionate and voluble enough to have pursued his own projects with singular focus.
For Ceramic Dog, Ribot enlisted Chess Smith, a percussionist who plays with ferocity and nuance, and Shahzad Ismaily, a versatile bassist capable of shifting between a mellifluous bebop style and assaultive punk minimalism, sometimes amidst the same track. For well over a decade, the trio has used the album format to stretch beyond the constraints of genre sonically and indulge both poetic and agit-prop impulses lyrically. At their best, the trio coalesces with verve, especially in the latter stretch of their new release.
Ribot emerged as a key contributor to the work of John Lurie’s Lounge Lizards and John Zorn during a time when NYC’s Downtown was establishing its own mythology, less high concept than today’s boutique-ridden landscape, but more spontaneously thrilling. He’s bohemian, and this aura, while perhaps a bit shopworn to some, is endearing and somehow revitalizing in the context of the current moment, imbuing these songs with an enduring quality after a year and a half of relative isolation and a pervasive feeling of loss.
He shows his thematic cards early, that is to say he’s outspoken and caustic, but sly, winking, tongue-in-cheek, as if he’s not taking himself too seriously. Polemical set opener “B Flat Ontology”’s verses can be overwrought and clunky, shoehorned in in their sheer verbosity — as Ribot laces doggedly into a world gone awry. Lines like “This one/vivisected a celebrity on YouTube” suggest a more acerbic Mark Knopfler. And yet the band must be applauded for unadulterated literary ambition, gleeful nihilism that also recalls the Dadaesque musings of indispensable Lower East Side bard John S. Hall, whose King Missile scored hilariously, epochally unlikely hits with “Jesus Was Way Cool” and “Detachable Penis” during a fruitful early 1990s stretch. The reggae-inflected “Nickelodeon”’s poesy comes across as more nonsensical, pleasantly banal, like elevated doggerel, but there’s an exuberant intensity to the performance, viscerally evoking the late, lamented Nuyorican Poets Cafe slams in their heyday. The melodies can be a bit rote, but they’re as beautifully rendered as you might expect from these artists, pleasurably out-of-time, not modish, trendy.
“Wanna” cuts in with a more prickly, No Wave urgency. It’s an album of many hues, tonal shjfts, and Ribot and cohorts are nothing if not versatile. The track’s capaciously recorded with foreboding riffage that wouldn’t be out of place on an early 1990s Helmet record. Hope is as wildly eclectic as its name portends, and while the experimentation stagnates at times, it exhilarates more often — a tension that not only plays out holistically, but within the songs themselves.
“I don’t accept any aspect/of capitalist society,” an unrepentant Ribot declaims to introduce “The Activist,” and just as his didactic screeds sometimes put us off, he reels us back in, beguilingly self-deprecating — the man knows whereof he speaks, being a venerable firebrand community organizer who earned his bona fides long ago. The piece closes with a burst of abrasive, serrated guitar, one of several late-album exemplars of potently distilled sonic virtuosity I would have liked to hear more frequently, as in the squalling sax, courtesy of Darius Jones, that introduces “They Met in the Middle,” and the shriek of catharsis that cleaves the song in half, erupting spontaneously, midway through, as well as the wryly-named “Bertha the Cool”’s lush jazz funk groove, reminiscent of the quietly influential Steve Coleman and Five Elements, refreshing after the verbal fusillades dominating the album up to that point.
Hope’s closing stretch is magisterial, resoundingly punctuated. “Maple Leaf Rage” might be named in homage to Joplin and ragtime, but a sense of the elegiac is the only discernible connection between the two compositions. The track arrives muted, tentative, with abundant negative space, becoming gradually more pointillistic as this keenly attuned trio establish themselves individually, but remaining reflective, hinting at stillness. The shouting and freneticism that characterized the first part of the record have dissipated, and the track breathes. Bandleader Ribot arrests the chaos, and Hope settles into place, at least momentarily, until the guitar kicks in, echoing the first passage with amplification and force, an avant-garde roundelay, and the song is deepened by this contrapuntal interplay. The record’s occasionally high-gloss production overwhelms its minimalist spirit here and there, and yet Ribot’s charm lies in his shapeshifting musical voice, as much a venerable journeyman professional as he is an irascible deconstructionist. So it is with the jagged guitar lines that tear this track open — impeccable and yet rawly emotive. It’s always a kick to hear Ribot solo. He conjures Funkadelic’s “Maggot Brain” here, in the way this one sputters to a standstill, at last capitulates to silence, an echoing cavern of the mind.

ok but like where is the au where jack is like. actually from the southwestern part of the country
dont get me wrong i love our lil city boy but we are missing OUT on the POSSIBILITIES !!! so, here you have it, modern au Jack "Cowboy" Kelly, brought to you from your local country lesbian:
ok first off: in this au he's born in the southwest, of course, but he moves to New York when he's either a teenager or like ,, going to college bc he needs a 💫change of scenery💫 (and also he's drawn to the political climate of northern states for Obvious Reasons)
JACK HAS A TRUCK JACK HAS A TRUCK JACK HAS A TRU
this does not mean we have to keep aesthetics separate! what i'm saying is Jack has starched wranglers with paint stains all over them. he has pearl snap button ups in funky patterns. he has Good Boots and Paint Boots
THE ACCENT......... THE ACCENT PLEASE
just imagine like. jack asking someone out and taking them to a rodeo
RODEOS ARE SO FUN and jack spends the whole night explaining what's going on (side note: his favorite event is the barrel racing) and he definitely buys his date something from the boutique booths outside
jack adores sweet tea
he has a great singing voice and listens to 87% country music (from the 80s and 90s most of the time) but he's also into more indie stuff bc that's what most of his friends are into
he's still an amazing artist bc he keeps it way more private bc artistic guys in the south are easy targets, unfortunately
this is also why he stays in the closet for a while (bc no matter who he's with, jack is definitely bi bc !! yes)
jack knowing how to ride horses. this is a must
lake dates !! barn dates !!! COUNTY FAIR DATES !!!!! STATE FAIR DATES !!!!!!!
a few latino jack headcanons for the soul: he's just as fluent in Spanish as he is in English bc a lot of people where he's from speak spanish (also im specifically thinking of the new mexico/texas/oklahoma area for this bc, hi! i'm from oklahoma!)
he grows up knowing how to make tortillas and tamales and a few other recipes passed down from his abuela
when someone says to dress nice, he hears "wear starched jeans, clean boots, and a button down" complete with a big belt buckle
JACK KNOWS HOW TO SQUARE DANCE. and he knows a bunch of line dances. and he isn't, like, amazing, but he's pretty decent. (his favorite line dances are Footloose and Copperhead Road (WHICH ARE SO FUN AND EASY TO DO I LOVE DOING THEM AT RODEOS AND DANCES BTW))
if he really likes someone he'll serenade them with a cute country song (think like ,, something along the lines of Head Over Boots by Jon Pardi or Wanted by Hunter Hayes)
omg ,, jack is such a traditional Good Southern Boy (TM). he holds doors open for everyone and lets ladies and kids cut in line in front of him and he says yes ma'am and no sir and it's not because he has any conservative values, it's just bc he was raised to be kind and humble and lead with his heart on his sleeve. he has that southern charm that everyone just kinda falls for
in conclusion: cowboy jack in modern aus is something that needs to be explored much more and If I Have To Do It Alone I Will
#hes a stereotypical country boy#without the straight white republican side of things#hes a bisexual latino who actually believes in things like. idk. human rights#this is so fucking self indulgent but i Could Not get the thoughts out of my head#i just. hm. i need it#jack kelly#newsies

targaryen’s seven | a Jonerys drabble
A/N: I could not help myself and just threw down this Drabble. I don’t want to post it on Ao3 just yet because is not a full one-shot nor is it going to be multi-chapter (in the near future, maybe one day I will come back to it) but thought you guys might like it. Enjoy!
The wind bit at her exposed skin, cheeks pinking without any aide of blush or tint. It whipped over her silver curls and braids, already pulled back taut from her face. It would have chilled anyone’s bones, except hers. Her bones were heated from the heavy thud of her heart against her breastbone, the rush of blood in her veins, and the fire raging inside her soul. The fire which rose to sparkle in her lavender eyes, redden her plump and pursed lips, and thirsted for revenge.
In the dark winter in the North, far beyond the everlasting lights and skyscrapers of King’s Landing, the craggy peaks of the Vale, and the marshy flats of the Riverlands, no one walking by on the quaint lantern-lit light posted street with its cozy restaurants, pubs, boutique hotels, and little shops devoted to preserving the heritage of the Realm’s largest, sparsest, and remotest kingdom.
The woman standing against one of these lightposts, her hands in the pockets of her designer black trenchcoat, hardly paying attention to the bustle of people. There were locals intermixed with tourists—it was the Dawn Festival soon—going from building to building, stopping to take photos in front of silly little cardboard cutouts of ice zombies and Northmen.
Only a few stopped in their tracks to glance at her, for she stood out among the darkness and the cold snow, her silver hair a moonlit beacon, her entire demeanor that of someone who should not be trifled with nor confronted. One glance of her purple eyes and they were on their way, bewitched almost to forget she was even there to begin with.
She lifted her left wrist up to peer at the heavy silver men’s wristwatch, ticking softly under the wail of the wind. Daenerys Targaryen tsked under her breath. “He’s late,” she murmured. She supposed it was silly to think he would actually honor her summons. He would not be coming then.
Well I suppose I will have to go looking for him.
Her heavy black combat boots crunched under the fresh snows, hands returning to her pockets, walking slowly down the sidewalk. The last time she was here had not been pleasant. The Northern History Museum had been far more difficult to crack than she’d originally planned. She had barely made it out of there with the silver wolf circlet she’d broken in to steal. Retrieve, she preferred, even if the authorities had different views on the matter.
The silver wolf circlet allegedly belonged to a Northern queen, who rebelled against the kingdoms and ultimately died of starvation when all her allies abandoned her. It was exceptionally expensive and the funds of which now had been siphoned into a series of orphanages the Northern government had been sorely neglecting.
Her walk took her from the local streets a bit farther off the beaten track, the lamps extinguished or nonexistent, the people fewer and fewer, until she was the only one on a darkened street.
Dany paused in front of a pub, glancing down at her phone. A message from her hacker—Missandei—informed her his cell phone had been pinging from that location an hour ago. She glanced up, smirked at the worn sign-- The Wildling -- hanging on one hinge. It was not for charm, but because the owner no doubt didn’t care about it. Perfect.
She entered the pub, which suddenly went quiet. Everyone stared at her. Dany reached up to pull at one of the buttons on her coat, her smile amused, gaze sweeping from one end to the other of the less than desirable establishment. She was not a local, she should not be there, but she did not care, purposefully striding towards the ancient bar, where a gigantic man with thick red beard and wild eyebrows surveyed her with bright blue eyes.
“Ale please,” she ordered, sweet.
The man chuckled. “You’re not from around here.”
“Nope.”
“You lost?”
Dany smiled, taking another look over her shoulder at the clientele, all of whom were still staring at her. She met the man’s gaze again, shaking her head. “Nope.”
They looked at each other, unblinking, for what seemed like several minutes, but was only a couple. A boom of laughter finally broke their silent pissing contest, the man slapping his dustbin lid sized hand on the bar, pointing at her, grinning darkly. “I like you.” He reached under the bar for a pint. “Attitude like that, first one’s on me.”
“I was hoping you could pass something along for me to one of your regulars.”
“Can’t say anyone you know would be in my pub,” the man said. He set her pint glass full of darkened ale. He grinned again. “But try me.”
Dany slipped her fingers into one of the inner pockets of her coat, removing a slim black box. She set it down on the bar, pushing it with one red manicured finger towards him. Another enigmatic smile did the trick. “This is for Jon Snow.”
The entire pub might as well have gone on mute.
The jovial bartender immediately hardened, those twinkling blue eyes now chips of ice. He was gruff. “Don’t know a Jon Snow.”
“I think you do Tormund Giantsbane.” Dany climbed off her stool, took a long pull from the ale glass, and wiped the foam from her upper lip. The gruffness of the bartender dropped like a mask at her sudden use of his full name. She liked to stun them. It was fun that way. She turned, calling over her shoulder. “Put it on his tab.”
The heavy oak door swung closed behind her with a deafening thud. Dany liked the taste of that ale, making a note she would have to return if she was ever in the mood for it again. She tugged her phone out, now a message from her ghost, warning her that this was a bad idea and they should try some other way.
Barristan had said the same thing. So had Daario. Grey and Gendry might have also agreed, if Missy and Arya hadn’t been as forceful as they had with their displeasure. Sometimes it was bothersome to have members of a team fucking, but Dany accepted the two couples because they worked well together and did not usually let their personal issues bleed into the world.
Plus they all had reason for this job. Well, not Daario, but he would do anything she asked because he was in love with her.
They all tried to convince her to get someone else. There were plenty who would kill to be a part of her team. To join them in this endeavor. No one else would do, she told them, calm and quiet.
It had to be him.
She returned to her car, parked in a community lot near the main square, and paid the exorbitant parking fee, even if it probably would have been easier to just use one of Missandei’s contraptions to hack her way out of the 15 stags. She drove off, humming along to a silly pop song playing from whatever radio station had been on when she picked up the car at the Winterfell International Airport.
Ah Winterfell, so many memories. The castle loomed large over the city that bore its name. It was a museum now, even if the Stark family still retained some ownership of it. Somewhere on the other side in more modest accommodations a few of the Stark family still lived.
The Starks weren’t as big as they once were. They were desperate for cash. All they had were their titles, such as they were. Dany thought about Arya Stark, her ghost, who technically bore the honorific Lady, but if you thought of calling her that you would get a knife in the gut. It was part of her reason for taking this job.
They all had reasons and now she just needed the final player in the game.
In lieu of a hotel, as much as she would like someone to pull back her linens and prepare a fire for her when she turned in for the evening, she rented out a luxury cabin several miles away. It afforded her privacy, stunning views, and a large sunken tub. Dany liked a sunken tub.
She parked, walked up to the front door, and smiled to herself at the threshold. So obvious. She slipped in the key and entered, turning to plug in the code for the alarm panel. When she turned back, she slipped off her coat, and walked into the large stone paneled living room, with its great fireplace—already crackling—and mountain filled wall of windows.
“Hello Jon.”
The chair before the fire turned, revealing its occupant, who sat rather bored, legs crossed and fingers tapped against his temple. He looked the same as ever, she thought, if not better. Dark raven curls, wild around his face, which had been chiseled from marble. Dark beard dusting over his jaw and upper lip, his gray eyes black in the shadow of the fire. All black ensemble, which she knew hid a body that was as chiseled as his face. Smooth planes and sharp edges, he was a masterpiece.
And he was deadly.
The gray eyes glinted, just a hint of red. Could have been from the fire, or it could have been something else.
Her smile peeled over her teeth. “My white wolf,” she purred.
Jon Snow smiled in return, although it did not meet his eyes, rather cold, as cold as the storm that began outside, the faintest hints of howling wind sounding. “Daenerys Targaryen,” he said, in his rumbling Northern burr. He kept smiling, until he wasn’t.
And then he was at her throat, his fingers digging into the slim column, tilting up her jaw, his breath mingling with hers, warm and raspy. Her eyes threatened to roll back into her head and her body ignited, fire consuming her. He barely touched his mouth to hers, barely breathing. “I thought I said I would kill you the next time I saw you.”
Now it was her turn to smile. She lifted her hand, his eyes rolling down to it. The cold steel of her dragonhead knife was against his jugular. Even if his thumb was pressing down on her carotid, threatening to cut off her oxygen, she knew he wouldn’t. Just like he knew she wouldn’t kill him. Draw blood maybe, but she could never kill him. “Darling, I think you forgot, it was I who said that.”
“Hmm.” He drew in her scent, nostrils flaring, and eyes going red again. The wolf, she noted, her skin prickling, and her body straining towards him. Not to break free, but to join him. There would be time for that later. His thumb dragged over her bottom lip and she darted her tongue out to touch it. He groaned, his nose pushing to hers, laugh deep in his chest. “You came looking for me.”
“I will always come looking for you.”
“I don’t want it.” His dark brows arched, the feral wolf flickering over his features again, hiding his obvious desire for her. She bucked her hips against him, reminding him. He laughed. “Peace offering, huh?” He immediately let her go and flicked the box towards her. He growled. “You stole that from me.”
“And I’m giving it back.” She opened the box, revealing the white wolf head pommel from the ancient Valyrian sword he kept in one of his many safehouses. She sighed. “I realized that it really belongs with you.”
“No, you realized no one would buy it.”
She shrugged, flicking the box towards him and he caught it one-handed, setting it down on a table behind him. “Po-tay-toe, Po-tah-toh.”
“I’m not joining you again.”
Ire flared, her eyes darkening to indigo. “I am no longer asking you nicely.”
“Funny was that what it was when you tried to kill me?”
Of course he would bring that up. She waved her hand dismissively. “It was an accident.”
Jon dragged the collar of his shirt down, pointing at a knife scar on his collarbone. “That is not an accident!”
“Oh yeah, well you stole from me!”
Now it was his turn to shrug it off. “That money needed to go to the Night’s Watch,” he mumbled, arms crossing over his chest.
They squared off against each other. This was not how she planned it to go, but nevertheless. She narrowed her eyes on him, staring. He stared back. No one blinked. Until they were at each other, grappling, tugging, and tearing at each other, mouths a frenzied clash of tongues and teeth. She drew his tongue in between her lips to slide along hers, moaning into his mouth when his large hands slipped from her shoulders to cup the sides of her breasts, straining in their cashmere sweater cage. She lifted herself against him, remembering every feel of him, every dent and ridge of muscle, every nervous quiver, and every bump and drag of scars.
He tore from her first, a hand tangled in her immaculate braids, fingers digging into the ridge of her skull, and another on her hip, holding her to him. “The answer is still no,” he whispered.
Dany shook her head, whispering. “You haven’t heard my proposition.”
“I’m out.”
“Even when I tell you the mark?”
He shook his head again, although she knew him. She’d known him since they were teenagers, misfits and unwanted, trying to scrap by on their wits and wiles. They had bled together, fought together, fucked and almost died together. They’d gone to jail together. She nibbled his lower lip again and he flinched, barely, but she felt it. He still wants to know. “No,” he repeated.
“Yes.”
“I don’t want it.”
She cocked her head, her fingers smoothing over his cheek, dropping to cover his heart with her palm. Eyes steady, breath even, she smiled again. “I need my second Jon. I need my partner.”
They all wanted her to bring in someone else. Even someone she might have worked with in the past, none of them matched to the trust she had with Jon Snow. He was her equal, the one she could trust above all else, the one who knew her deepest and darkest fears and desires. Jon Snow came from nothing like she had and built himself up. He was the only one she would ever feel comfortable doing this job with.
There was also the fact that she was still in love with him.
Trivial thing really, she lied to herself.
Whatever they said about him, she didn’t believe it. He was out, he was done, he’d gone straight…all lies. He was just like her. They were wild, they could not be tamed, and he could never settle for a boring law-abiding life.
The irony of Jon Snow was he was the most honorable criminal she had ever met.
“No.”
Now it was time for the final play. Her other hand cupped his head and fingers twirled with his hair at the base of his neck. “Even if I tell you that we’re going for the Targaryen crown and dragons?”
His dark eyes lifted to hers, his breath stilled. He said nothing.
Her tongue dabbed her upper lip, her pupils dilating wide, smile curving again. “The crown and the eggs will all be in a single location, for the Conquering Day Celebration, and Tywin Lannister himself will be there, to give a speech, to commemorate the day. Robert Baratheon, Cersei Lannister, and that little fucker Tyrion will all be in attendance.” She brushed her nose over his, whispering. “Can’t you feel it Jon? That wolf inside your heart? The one howling? What does he want?”
She knew what it wanted, just like he did. All she needed was for him to say it.
Jon closed his eyes, shivering, and his arms tightened around her. “Revenge,” he murmured. He didn’t need to say it but draining the Lannisters of their stolen riches would also be a bonus.
“Exactly.”
He gazed down at her, lips dropping to hers again, and she knew it. She knew before he even whispered the words to her, before he kissed her and before they decided to start talking terms.
“When do we start?”

Why BC Is The Best Place To Try Heli Skiing
Nestled in the heart of Canada's rugged landscapes lies a winter wonderland that beckons adventure seekers from around the world. British Columbia, with its pristine wilderness and abundant powder snow, stands as the unrivaled paradise for helicopter skiing enthusiasts. In this article, we explore why BC is the ultimate destination to experience the exhilarating world of helicopter skiing.
A Brief History of Helicopter Skiing:
The roots of helicopter skiing can be traced back to the visionary Hans Gmoser, an Austrian who made Canada his home. In the 1960s, he pioneered the use of helicopters to access remote slopes in the Bugaboo Mountains of British Columbia. What began as an adventurous experiment led to the birth of heli skiing as we know it today. Gmoser's legacy lives on through Canadian Mountain Holidays (CMH), the world's largest helicopter skiing operator.
Why BC Holds the Crown for Heli Skiing:
British Columbia's significance in the world of helicopter skiing cannot be overstated. It's home to over 20 heli ski operations, a number unmatched anywhere else on the planet. What sets BC apart is its vast wilderness and low population density, allowing skiers to explore pristine mountains without encountering another soul outside their group.
BC's heli ski tenure system guarantees exclusive access for each operation to their designated area. This means you'll never cross paths with another cat or heli ski outfitter while carving through BC's backcountry.
The province's terrain is a skier's dream come true. Thanks to its northern latitudes and Pacific storms, BC boasts reliable deep powder throughout the season. With numerous mountain ranges, including alpine bowls, glaciers, and tree skiing at lower elevations, BC offers an unmatched variety of terrain suitable for skiers of all levels.
The infrastructure supporting helicopter skiing in BC is unparalleled. Guiding associations like the ACMG and CSGA train guides specifically for the heli skiing industry. BC's heli skiing and snowcat skiing contribute nearly $200 million to the province annually and provide thousands of jobs, ensuring you'll find highly experienced personnel to guide your adventure.
Conclusion:
British Columbia, the birthplace of heli skiing, is a haven for powder enthusiasts seeking the ultimate skiing adventure. Its vast wilderness, diverse terrain, and dedicated industry infrastructure make it the unrivaled destination for helicopter skiing in Canada and beyond.
If you're ready to experience the thrill of helicopter skiing in BC, look no further than Northern Escape Heli Skiing.
