On the 32nd floor of Sofitel Chicago Water Tower, the five-room Presidential Suite exceeds expectations for travel luxury. 

Reminiscent of a fashionable urban penthouse, the Presidential Suite designed by Paris-based architects and designers has been known to serve as a private enclave for visiting celebrities and dignitaries. Floor-to-ceiling windows afford panoramic views of the downtown Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan. Suede walls soften the contemporary minimalist design, with regal navy blues and blacks offering vivid splashes of color. A Le Corbusier desk and Japanese-inspired window screens imbue the space with just a dash of ceremonial formality. Magnifique!

Do you know the world’s #1 location for paparazzi shots?  It’s the iconic LAX, Los Angeles International Airport.

The small group of paparazzi who regularly work the airport — photographers put the number between four and 15 —  track down famous faces via insider tips from limo drivers, publicists, fellow passengers and airport workers. Then there are the 500+ photographers who can at times descend on the airport to catch image-worthy arrivals. So here is one of our favorite lists on how to avoid the ‘pap’s’ when venturing around LA-LA Land.

FANTASTIQUE BEGINNINGS

An annual tradition in the United States is to watch the ball drop on New Year's Eve. The tradition started in 1907 with an iron and wood ball lit by 25 watt light bulbs. In 2000 viewers were treated to a redesigned New Year's Eve Ball with Waterford Crystal triangles covering the surface. In 2007, it found its permanent home at One Times Square. Guests of Sofitel New York can see it year-round on a stroll through Times Square. On our 2015 list is more luxurious travel!

A must see for guests of Sofitel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills is a visit to the Frank Gehry designed Walt Disney Concert Hall. You can spend hours walking around the exterior and watching the light play against the facade,  but don't forget to attend a concert for a magnifique experience. The interior of the venue is where the true architecture shines. It is recognized as one of the most acoustically sophisticated concert halls in the world and is home to the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, and various visiting artists and orchestras from around the globe.
