because as much as I love Ruby being defensive on behalf of a short MC, Reese teasing her about her height was just so good. And then I had to pick James for the whole "you know you aren't actually the tallest person here, Reese 🙄" scene.

I've been torn between Silas and Sofia the most out of all of them, but after joining the patreon and seeing the portraits, Silas has won out on account of he's the most beautiful man I've ever seen ever 😳🥺

and then I chose Becca because A) I wanted at least one female RO dammit, and B) something about having all of Nora's Fernweh friends being men and the friend she met outside of town being a woman feels very poignant, especially with the way the townsfolk treat Becca like an outsider. It's also very true to my lived experience; most of my friends as a kid were boys, but most of the ones I've made as an adult are women. I don't know why that is, but here we are.

(I don't know that purple is Nora's color, I see her more as a light/neon blue (or like a dusky magenta?), but I didn't want her color to be too similar to Silas's, so I picked purple. Reese's color is more black than red, also, but I like a rainbow.)

THTH 2 Episode 8 Thoughts

I didn't do a thoughts post last week because there wasn't much going on, but this week?!!?! OMG I've played 2 of my 3 routes already and am already planning replays on both to see different variations. The thought of starting a 4th profile briefly crossed my mind but I'd rather just replay later (the option to restart at specific episodes/chapters is a total godsend).

I love the variation in this one, and the potential for future drama!

Ryder got soooo jealous when I went on a date with Kai (and kissed him... and later broke a rule in the shower with him - that was HOT). I loved it. I was also jealous of how he was acting with Nora, but I know that boy has it bad for me and is just covering it up.

I want to replay to see what happens if I take the date but don't kiss him, but then I'm gonna replay again to take the kiss because I need to see the fallout

On my loyal Antoine route, I skipped the date and had a cute scene with him. I'm going to replay to see his reaction if I take the date (although according to @mrs-toohot it's not as good as Wesley's) and then replay to get back on my loyal route because I just love Antoine so much (the sunflower? love it)

I was disappointed we didn't get a green light though, but I guess they have special dialogue planned for when that happens and it would've messed up the branching

Okay, the morning bedroom scene with Nora and whoever. It was kind of confusing. It was with Antoine on my first route and he was clearly still hurt that I dumped him, but saying I was a problem after he broke rules with Amari the night before? But then on my loyal route, it was Naomi saying I was becoming a problem, but then she turned the conversation around and Nora said something about making more of an effort to be friends with me? Huh? Whiplash, I tell you. I'm interested to see what they have planned with that

There's a party coming up next week, and I have a feeling someone's getting dumped. Parties are always bad news, and there's an achievement for us to get dumped. So... that might be a thing for an MC that breaks every rule

Well, off to play the episode on my 3rd route and do some replays!!

I have never played THTH so I am playing the second season as my first ever AND Oh My God!!! This game!!!

At first I was like why can’t I date Santiago or Zayn I find them more attractive! I was settling between Wesley and Antione. I went for Wesley and now that man has me in a chokehold. I am lovinggggg him. I was so conflicted when Ryder came in because Ryder is so my type! I find myself stuck between them like I am Andy and Ozzy in litg but so much better because it’s so well written so far! I’m obsessed with this game now!!!

Everyone keeps saying Wesley is a copy of Liam from s1 but I didn’t play s1 so for me I’m not affected by similarities. 😂

No this season is SO GOOD!!! Don’t even go back and play s1 bc you’ll be disappointed bc this season is so superior already. I’m an Antoine girly that man has my whole heart rn but I fully understand the Wesley appeal. I will say I found it refreshing that not everyone was immediately in love with mc like s1 bc to me the friendships are just as fun as having a good li. And this season fully delivers both AND other people in the villa are vibing and having realistic issues for where we’re at! Zayn and Santi are my besties rn I love them sm. (Kind of wish there was a friends to lovers route with them) And I’m OBSESSED with Cassia and Elena. If any of the new ppl even attempts to break them up I will fight them.

Ryder is so hot but I’m trying to go for a loyal route 😬🫣 but the slow burn always wrecks me!!! And he’s a slow burn so we’ll see Lolol.

This is mainly if Zen knew about the mc + their amnesia when he's already at utira library (im going to say the infernal grunt that tries to kill Jaern at the start of the game but ends up dead is the one that informed him, phones technically exist so maybe he was able to tell him something when he saw the first augur's kid looking lost af and not even knowing who or what the second augur was).

Anyways .

Even if the mc has amnesia they have already learnt about the cults and Zenith does know this especially because them+Nora+Damian come to the library asking about the prophecy, so he wouldn't be able to mention anything cult-related.

He would literally just be very nice to the player and gain their trust that way just like he did w the people living in Oranos (and even if not as extreme also Utira). His popularity among the people would also make him seem more trustworthy so he wouldnt have a hard time gaining the players trust— He would also try to separate the mc from Nora+Damian and probably make those two seem like bad people so that the mc stays away from them.

He wouldn't really need his powers at all either, if he wanted the mc to do something specific he could always just:

a: ask favours from the mc as exchange for favours he'd done for them (like helping them find the prophecy!)

b: gaslight them even more (?

c: peer pressure them into doing whatever tf he wants (since he CAN control everyone else)

Probably at some point he would slowly introduce them to the cult, not sure how he would manage that but oh well, he is a cult leader so definitely not the first time he's done that.

And fun fact: Even if the mc is immune to his powers bcs of Nyx, they arent immune to actual manipulation tactics so l o l . If Zenith knew they'd be immune to mind control from the start i can imagine he would've just gone the manipulating (tm) route.

replaying thth2 bc I realized I've never done the reunion where I'm not just fooling around with Santiago the whole time

and like somehow even on my third playthrough of the main story there's stuff I still haven't seen before that's so exciting

bc like in theory (i.e., if this was a litg season cough cough) after doing a messy Ryder route and a loyal Antoine route, I should know how a messy Wesley route would go bc he's an OG like Antoine but my MC is messing around which I've seen before when I did the Ryder route, but no somehow she's being even more messy.

So either Naomi or Antoine have a conversation with Nora about MC being bad news, and the other times I've played they tended to be jealous or worried MC was gonna win the money but this time, because MC flirted with Antoine in the beginning, he just sounded hurt that she left him behind, and I was like oh my god am I the problem??? (yes)

AND it gets mentioned again when MC catches Antoine and Amari making out that he's kinda being a salty ex and one last time when they both get dumped he says they could've been great together (which may have happened in the other route I played where mc got dumped but I don't remember tbh)

And then there's another part where one character will confront you about not being genuine with your partner, and because my MC is with Wesley, Naomi is the one that pulls MC aside to say this. But when playing the loyal Antoine route, Amari does this and has no evidence so she's just jealous. However, Naomi has so much evidence against MC, I'm like... yeah you're right girl

Meanwhile I also happened to have closed a Ryder route which I didn't know was possible so they're just friends so that's cool but also like there's no chance to save him even though he has a point that he was loyal to Nora the whole time he was there until they broke up, so it doesn't make sense he gets dumped lol

Anyway MC ends up with Kai even though she had a higher romance with Wesley and it breaks it my heart but he's happy with Naomi now so I guess it's fine 😭😭

I'm doing a Ryder route (created a third mc just for that) and the waterfall scene is where things start to change if you've flirted with him before and decide to do it again. Spoilers ahead I guess?

He leaves a flower for mc (but no note), and stands up for her at the cabana when one of the others are annoyed when you take the date w/ Kai/Elodie and if you don't take it there's comments about how pleased he looks and he says something to the effect of 'you must really like me'.

And then the fight with Nora on the beach happens, and it's golden cause she completely blames you for their "relationship" not going well (she straight up hates you if you go for him) and he stands up for mc. Iconic line: 'keep *mc's* name out of your mouth' and says that Nora is only blaming you to stroke her own ego, which was a great moment.

And then you get to have your own moment with him where he's vulnerable and asks if there's something real between you, and (since my mc said yes) you say that you get if he needs some time after that but that you'll be waiting. You don't have to wait long for him to come to you though, and then you get to fuck on the beach so 🥂

Who knows if he'll be fully loyal going forward but so far it's been a fun and enjoyably dramatic route
