Hoppy Hopscotch

Hoppy is the goddess of the sky, the winds, storms, and the brutality of war.

She has the ability to harness green lightning and make huge attacks with it. She can be very dangerous (and reckless), and is second to DogDay on the most powerful list.

She’s a very aggressive fighter, and has trouble with her temper sometimes. She gets really bad mood swings 💀

She normally fights with her feet. Girly will literally jump backwards into a handstand and kick you in the face.

She may or may not be slowly developing feelings for Bobby. She doesn’t think she is though. According to her, she is feeling very strong friendship feelings and it is not a crush nope not at all (it is. She’s really down bad for Bobby. I don’t even know how Bobby doesn’t notice it because everyone else has)

Her and Bubba are the war gods of the group, so that means they often get paired together to work on stuff. However the problem is that they get so pissed at each other. Bubba wants to plan for a million different scenarios on how they can win a fight, and Hoppy just wants to charge in headfirst and fight stuff. They…uh…don’t get along very well, let’s just say that

Picky Piggy

Picky is the god of the earth, feasting, farming, and the harvest.

Crafty and Picky are very close friends. Crafty sees Picky’s cooking as another way of her creating art, and appreciates her for it. They vent to each other a lot.

Picky tends to be very uhh…well she’s very sweet, but my god she can be stupid sometimes. She’s a little bit air headed. It’s okay though, she’s a loveable dork.

She also tends to be oblivious to the mortals and their needs. She often ends up ignoring them, or kind of forgetting they exist. DogDay has had to remind her at least several times that harvest season is approaching, and she needs to start blooming flowers.

Think of her powers kind of like earth bending from avatar in a way. She can literally summon rocks from the ground and chuck them at people. She also has the power to grow plants. She is the one who leads the yearly Blossoming festival at the beginning of the harvest season. Farmers tend to sacrifice animals at her temple for hopes of a plentiful harvest.

So yeah, that’s really it. Bobby and Crafty are next! Crafty is already ready, but Bobby really needs some major tweaks in her design. Regardless, they’ll be posted soon!

imply the show could be improved in any way and they'll get on your case telling you that you're actually a hater if you don't just swallow whole the hot garbage mess that shawcross and luna pull out of their butts when writing a season because they didn't plan out the show from the start and just make it up as they go.

and to all the people who say "whaaat of course they planned it out from the start you just don't understand their vision" you're right about one thing, I don't understand their vision but I don't think they do either. In the Volume 3 Commentary video, it's said that Monty only came up with the Maidens after Volume 2. The Maidens that proceeded to become the driving plot point for the rest of the series to this day didn't exist in anyone's plans when writing the show at the start. Not satisfied? How about the fact that Neo wasn't written in until volume 2 because Monty decided that Torchwick needed a henchman. Neo had like ten minutes of screentime pre-volume 6 but became one of the most popular characters so they decided to make her a major antagonist, even the main antagonist of volume 9. That DEFINITELY wasn't planned before the show started.

I think the show could have been so much better if the plot was planned out from the start and honestly a reboot feels like the way to go to me. Too many times, the writers feel like they're not writing to actually tell a good story but instead they're writing to try and get a reaction out of people. Looking at you, bumblebee. Blake and Yang had one (1) interaction in Volume 2. In Volume 3, Blake runs away at the end as isn't reunited with team rwby until the end of volume 5... but somehow by volume 6 they've somehow become a thing? Literally just shawcross and luna seeing bumblebee being a popular ship in the fndm and going "here you go guys! enjoy!"

It seems like their goal when writing is just to make the audience do this meme

"Whoa, bumblebee! These two characters are canon now and they totally interacted beforehand!"

or alternatively, "Whoa, Neo/Penny is back!"

I could make an entire other post about all the lost potential they had with the plot points that had been set up. Penny the robot girl is killed in volume 3 but surprise she's back in volume 7! That's not an issue per se but imagine the juicy angst steak if Penny's memory had to be wiped or rebooted because they essentially made a new Penny (being a destroyed robot and all) and so she'd forgotted Ruby, her only friend and Ruby thinks she knows Penny but this Penny is essentially a different person. But nope, Penny remembers everything and is a superhero now or something.

Oh and don't even get me started on World of Remnant. If your show can't explain your own lore in a way that isn't making separate lore videos to try and make your world make sense, there's a problem there.

I think this post is long enough though so I'm just gonna leave it at this: I used to really enjoy the show but as it went on the bad writing became harder and harder to ignore and I think the show would greatly benefit from a reboot because nothing of great value would be lost if they never finished the current series. The show had some really good ingredients but the cooks tried too hard to make something unique and ended up with something "technically edible" but not really all that tasty (and fans will insist it was perfect how dare you say anything bad about it but oops there I go looping back round)

In Defence of Katara’s Immaturity

Katara is an amazing character: an empowered, three-dimensional indigenous fantasy heroine that inspired a generation of creative minds. She is the idol of millions, and rightly so.

The problem is that, when a character is admired (even rightly), certain fandom echo chambers tend to distort said character’s canon nature. Their flaws, failings, and moments of general unpleasantness are ignored or rationalised until they disappear altogether, which leads to these same echo chambers asking, “Why isn’t this character we’ve created allowed to be imperfect? It must be the fault of the characters we don’t like!”

In the case of Katara, one of the most common manifestations of this phenomenon is the ‘Momtara’ trope. In this trope, Katara is portrayed as a tragic, Cinderella-esque figure: a girl burdened with the responsibility of being her friends’ supportive mother figure. Advocates of this trope insist that Katara is the character least allowed to have faults or act her age, and that she constantly has to set aside her own wants and needs for the sake of the people around her. To this take, I have a simple rebuttal.

Horseshit.

One of the great things about Katara’s portrayal in ATLA is that she is FLAWED. She makes mistakes. She puts her friends in danger. She expresses jealousy, pettiness, selfishness, and many of the other wonderful faults that make characters rich. As evidence, I’d like to touch on a few of Katara’s less flattering moments throughout he series, along with a bit of analysis. Note, this is NOT by any means an exhaustive list.

Moment 1: The Kyoshi Warriors

God, I love how REAL this episode is when it comes to the childish disagreements that happen between young teens. When the people of Kyoshi Island begin showering Aang with gifts and adulation, he lets the attention go to his head and wastes hours showboating for a fawning audience. Katara, who had monopolised Aang’s attention up to this point, becomes increasingly jealous. This leads to the following gem of an argument between them.

“You’re not gonna stop me?”

“Nope. Have fun.”

“I will.”

“Great.”

“I know it’s great.”

“I’m glad you know!”

“I’m glad you’re glad!”

“Good!”

“Fine!”

How anyone can say Katara acted like Aang’s mom when this exchange exists is beyond me. Both of them are being ridiculous and petty and ABSOLUTELY acting their age here.

Moment 2: The Great Divide

While many people would rather forget this episode (it is by far the series’s weakest) there is a wonderful moment in the beginning during the Gaang’s camp setup. Katara tells Sokka that he should set up their tent’s rain tarp, a suggestion Sokka dismisses. It’s the dry season, he claims; work smarter, not harder! This escalates into a full-blown argument involving thrown sticks, collapsed tents, and name calling from both sides that is only resolved when Aang steps in. Once again, Katara is being immature. Once again, this immaturity is 100% consistent with her age and personality.

Moment 3: The Waterbending Scroll

I honestly don’t see how someone could argue that Katara is not incredibly irresponsible and self-centred in this episode. First, she steals a scroll from pirates, knowingly putting her group in the crosshairs of dangerous men for her own ambitions. Then, when Aang commits the crime of mastering one of its moves before her, she completely blows her stack at him (almost bringing him to tears). Finally, on top of all that, she lies about being over the scroll and then sneaks off on her own to train, leading to her, Aang, and Sokka all being captured. These are not the actions of a mom, or even a ‘mom-friend’; these are the actions of a child desperate to recover a part of their culture that was lost to colonialism. To adultify Katara robs her of this opportunity.

Moment 4: The Avatar State

Honestly, I feel like this episode (and Katara’s behaviour in it) isn’t talked about nearly enough. When Aang is offered the opportunity to end the war early by bypassing his training and mastering the Avatar State, he takes it. His position is understandable; he’s already late to the war, and wants to do whatever possible to minimise the loss of life. Katara disagrees with his decision, feeling that he should continue his training in the traditional way. The problem is that when Aang tries to explain his reasoning, she calls him a meathead and storms off. While there is nothing inherently wrong with her viewpoint, her reaction to it being challenged is childish and hurtful. Because guess what? 14 year olds are childish and hurtful sometimes. Moments like these are part of what make Katara such a believable character.

Just to reiterate, this is not at all an anti-Katara post. I love Katara. She is one of my favourite fictional characters. And it is because she is one of my favourite fictional characters that I don’t want people to reduce her to ‘the Gaang’s mom’ or a Strong Woman TM. Yes, Katara is a wonderful person; she is brave, passionate, kind, and yes, nurturing. But she is also a child, and has all the flaws, contradictions, and inconsistencies that come with that. As lovers of storytelling, we should celebrate all these facets of her character, not just pick and choose the ones that are easily digestible.

day 10 sex with your LI in the hideaway: we waited and it DID NOT disappoint. whether personality, storyline or looks, or a combination of those, it did not leave us hanging dry.

rahim solving the rubik's cube: SO OVERLOOKED by the fandom (or myself in some cases) and i want more. that's it, that's the tier.

bobby singing during brunch: just like the singing, these people can be endearing but sometimes they're just not for you. you either swear by them or doesn't give a flying fuck.

hope crying and collapsin' on noah: CRINGE, i'm honestly ignoring they ever happened but they insist like a fucking tooth ache or something.

lottie biting noah's ear: "i worship and install chaos for the fun of it". all of these are giving new york telling a random girl to choke on flavor of love JUST BECAUSE.

returning!hannah "i'm a bad girl now.": the tease is badass but the attitude is fucking annoying and insecure. fuck these girls i don't care.

lurik leaving with rocco: they deserved WAY MORE than what was given, because what was given was fucking nothing. they didn't have the time or the personality, and i grieve for these men.

mc and li having sex during nope's argument: just like mc and her li, these people could not give a shit about anything, if the villa explodes or not, they're there to vibe and unapologetically be themselves. they might be the ones lighting the match but... still.

gary talking about a chance with hannah: IT'S GIVING RED NOSE, IT'S GIVING COLORFUL HAIR, IT'S GIVING BIG SHOES. actually you're not even the clown, just the horn. SHUT THE FUCK UP.

the shirt that never was: ah, all the suffering and expectation, just to get to the end and... we were so naive, so innocent, so wide-eyed, gullible, so... hopeful. ((the ones we got at the end? yeah, the payoff was not proportional to the waiting, argue with the wall)).

This took me, like, an hour and a hslf to type.

1. Why do you like or dislike this character?

On surface level he's really cute and silly. Then you realize he's perverse and swears like a sailor. Then you learn he's a loyal friend, good at emotional support, and will do anything for the people he loves.

He's also pretty versatile. He can be a beautiful princess, a batman-esque vigilante, an eccentric mad scientist, a whitetrash redneck, a talented opera singer, a skilled musician, etc. He can do anything!! (Except sew and cook apparently XD)

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

How he broke the cycle of abuse that's been going on for generations in his family. Also, despite arguably having the worst home life, he never let himself become villian-like like some other characters in this series.

3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?

His tendency to be ignored by the writers. From being 'permanently' killed off to being reduced to a background character for a few seasons to just kinda being forgotten about halfway through some episodes.

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

Sanrio, any animated run. I just think it'd be funny if this little orange nugget was running around the hello kitty universe being his usual R-rated self and every line of dialogue slipping past the censors.

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

Promotion Man by Merzbow. Same reason as All Star, despite the pain of existence he stays silly!! But in a much more noisy and industrial kinda way. Also I think Kenny would listen to harsh noise. (Tumblr wont let me link it :( )

In fan art he's often smiling when no one else is. Not in a way that feels like his happiness comes at the expense of others, but moreso he just has a different mindset. Or perhaps he's just high among his sober friends; which, given how he acts in canon sometimes, might be possible.

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

When fans portray him as a casual sexual predator and it gets played off as just him being a flirt. The second half of that is the important part.

That's a big fat NOPE lol. He's messy as hell, cant cook, and, with his luck, he'd probably die every other week. Sorry, but there's no way no how it would ever happen.

Probably, yeah. Kenny gets along with pretty much everyone and I get along with most people too. I see no reason why we couldn't be friends.

- Kenrietta. lady who's goth throughout x guy who's secretly goth but looks like the sunniest guy alive. They compliment each other nicely but also lend some funny contrast.

-Kammy/Kentam. The two poorest people in town, match each other's energy and craving for physical affection, are fiercely loyal to each other.

-Stenny. Sooo much angst and hurt/comfort.

Tbh never been extremely fond of that trope where his partner acts like they dislike him. But whatever, it just isnt my cup of tea.

No, I don’t like Charles. unfortunately, Max always friendly with him. In 2019, in 2021, even when Charles was his main rival. Maybe bc he isn’t insecure about his position as driver. I be honest, I’m not a Lestappen shipper since I don’t like Charles and find him two-faced but Max for some reason likes him and wants to be friends with him for some reasons which irritates me bc Ch is just not worth it in any way (1)only likes a person when they not a competition for him and 2)2023 showed us that he is very inconsistent driver)

I watched 2019-2020 seasons as a Seb fan. I know what you are talking about, but from a different angle.

As I said, I am a Max fan. In a conflict, sorry to my lestappen girlies, but I am ready to skin people alive for Max's sake and be that bitch. But currently it is all good, because my guy is happy.

Think about it this way: Do you know for certain if a person is worthy of your love/attention right from the start? If Max wants to be friends with people you think that's not worthy of his time, then can you do anything about it other than wait for stuff to happen so that Max can decide for himself if he wants to stay or nope out? Our parasocial sentiments mean zilch.

Most people don't like his partner, either, most of the time for some valid reasons. But this guy is his own person, and he can decide for himself whether or not he is being used, if he is walking in for a heartbreak, or if he's losing his time on a pretender. We all live and find out and learn. Max will, too. And as far as I can tell, if you fool him, use him, or hurt him he'll either ignore all your existence and go on with his life, or just put you in your place so bad that you'd regret the moment you betrayed his trust.

True lesser of two evils question, choose which you would prefer:

ST5 where Henry isn’t treated as the born evil big bad and your theories about Nina, to do with tfs etc. are all proven right… but Will randomly develops powers and defeats the mindflayer single handedly, Henry dies an unsatisfying death and is never mentioned again, byler gets the destiel treatment where one confesses romantic feelings before getting sent to dimension x forever and the other just sort of stares but it’s kinda cannon in the Spanish dub, El just sits in the corner eating egos all season and never says a single word, Kali/008 shows up and turns to the camera before saying “I’ve seen stranger things happen” and then credits roll

Despite all evidence contrary (including the literal cannon play) ST5 doubles and triples down on Henry being the big bad ultimate evil who needs to be killed, El dies and byler becomes canon in the first scene of the season, Mike and Will’s arcs/plot lines for the rest of the show is just going on cringe inducingly corny dates and making out with frequent shots of them sucking each other’s faces in extreme closeup (like you can see every single pore levels of close up) - this is half of the seasons total screen time, Max is just sort of fine again with no explanation or lasting impact, after Henry is killed everyone that had previously died on the show comes back to life except for El, as the last gate closes Hopper decides to stay in the upside down and tearfully smiles at Joyce S3 finale style before the gate closes forever, the mindflayer also dies as a part of last minute redemption arc

First one. Definitely the first one. The second option sounds like literal hell.

I'm here for El finally noping out, and I've come around to a possible Kali comeback. I've also never been against "stranger things have happened"; I think it would be funny and fitting if done right. I also don't particularly care about byIer being visibly together all the time, less is more in a horror scifi show. I'm not here for fucking softcore porn. I'm here to watch people die and other people shake sob vomit because the bad guy isn't totally bad and all the real monsters are the government/military.

I'd grin an bear it if Will got powers and defeated the Mindflayer, though, because the Mindflayer is the only bitch he's got long-standing beef with!! Vecna doesn't give a flying fuck about Will, lmao; we've seen that over and over.

And if I can stand by Star Wars after they fucked up Kylo Ren's death after revealing that he's not a monster, then I'm sure I can just go lalalalalala and ignore it about Henry. I guess. And it's also kind of fitting in a tragic way that he not be mentioned again. Let the man rest, he's been through enough. Don't go around invoking his name and all that.

Stranger Things would be a 4-season show in my mind if the second option was what happened. Lol.

I'm not even sure I could come up with a worse ending than option two, other than "none of it was real/xyz characters never really existed" or a "kill baby Hitler" time travel plot regarding Henry. Hell, add the "kill baby Hitler" plot to option 2, and you've got one of the worst plots imaginable.

1. I think my fav thing that happened was the leaks night when chapter 403 came out and everyone (and me) was going absolutely apeshit over a certain someone’s return and the Eye Contact™️ that was shared so yeah it was just such a thrilling experience and I really felt united with the fandom and overjoyed about Katsuki coming back

2. I started shipping bkdk last year, and funnily enough it all started during the second half of the togachako fight (“You really think I’m cute?” “The cutest girl in the whole world”). I was like that’s gay and then I got tumblr and read togachako metas and went that’s even gayer which then led me to bakudeku metas and that’s when I went oh wait these guys actually make sense oh shit it’s not toxic anymore holy fuck I GET IT NOW

(but if I’m being honest with myself, I subconsciously shipped these guys since the beginning but I was too blind (heteronormative) to see)

These boys mean so much to me, and so does this series. I honestly still can’t believe it’s about to end.

I went from hating Katsuki to absolutely adoring him, and Izuku was the first protagonist I ever felt like I completely related to. He brought me such comfort during the aftermath of the pandemic. Like, I too am sensitive and a crybaby and a nerd, and I verbally process things (mumble), and I had low self-esteem, and I had people in my life call me weak and put me down (and I mayyyy have projected those people onto Katsuki a bit…). And Izuku gave me hope that one day I could be like him, and that I’d rise up against the situations that seemed impossible and beat them anyways, and that the people in my life would eventually realize that they’re wrong about me (and one of them has!🥹).

And seeing these two boys grow and develop (especially after rereading the manga) is just something else. It’s crazy how I went from trying to ignore Katsuki and his hot-headed self to being so invested in his emotions and feelings and his devotion to Izuku like 😭😭😭😭

No matter how this series ends, it’s definitely going to hold a special place in my heart for a long time.

It had started with nods in the hallways as they passed each other. 

Eddie never returned them, always too stunned to do anything.

There was no way Steve “The Hair” Harrington was actually acknowledging him, right? 

But then nods turned into small smiles and quick waves.

These Eddie managed to respond to. He would give Steve tight-lipped smiles and then quicken his steps to get away from the other man. He knew Steve had lost a lot of his friends because of Billy; the junior was determined to become the new king of Hawkins High. But Steve was still popular and popular people didn’t give Eddie “The Freak” Munson smiles or waves . They shoved him into lockers and jumped him after school. The only time the popular kids had conversations with him was when they wanted to buy weed from him. This was how it’s always been and that was fine with Eddie. 

So why was Steve Harrington so adamant about getting his attention?!  

The waves Eddie could handle, after all, it wasn’t like Steve and him were even talking. But the day Steve sat down at his lunch table was the last straw.

“Hey, Eddie!” he had said with a bright smile, sliding into the seat next to him.

Eddie froze and slowly turned over to look at him.

No way.  

“Uh… Hey, Harrington…” He looked over to his band mates for help but they were just as shocked as he was, “Can I help you?”

Steve shook his head, “Nah, man. Just wanted to sit here today. Is that cool?”

“…Yeah… man. That’s fine…”

There was a beat of awkward silence before Gareth asked Eddie about their new D&D campaign. Grateful for the distraction, Eddie had indulged them all with a few teasers, getting their interests piqued before shutting them down. 

“Nope! No more questions! You’ll have to wait until later today when we start playing.”

“Can I join?”

Eddie froze along with the other members. He had been trying to forget that Steve was sitting with them.

“You want to join Hellfire?” he blinked.

“Yeah, it seems interesting.”

Gareth interrupted, “Do you even play D&D?”

“No…,” He said with a frown, looking over at Eddie, “Do you think you could teach me?”

Eddie’s breath caught. Had Steve always been this pretty?  

He hoped nobody saw how red his face was, “Uh- Yeah. Sure. I’ll teach you.”

He heard a chorus of what?! around him but he silenced them with a hand, “Boys, we’re pushing the campaign to tomorrow after school. Harrington,” he began talking quieter, leaving the other members to complain amongst themselves, “If you want to play you’ll need to make a character using a character sheet. I can help you with that today if you want.”

Steve smiled at him, “Yeah, sounds good. Wanna come to my place after school?”

Eddie’s heart raced, “Sure.”

After school was over, Eddie followed Steve’s car with his van as the two made their way to Steve’s. He couldn't believe he was on his way to help Steve Harrington make a D&D character. He felt like he was dreaming. They reached the richer man's house quickly and the two men made their way inside.  

Eddie looked around the house as he toed off his sneakers and whistled, “Nice place you’ve got, Stevie.”

He swore he saw Steve blush, “Thanks, man. It’s nothing special, really.”

Eddie snorted, “I didn’t know King Steve could be so... humble .”

“Yeah, yeah. But listen, Eddie,” he looked nervous, “I’m not like that anymore. I’m not King Steve. And I’m sorry for the way I’ve treated you. You didn’t deserve it- you don’t deserve it.”

Eddie didn’t know what to say. Could someone like Steve, who had always acted so high and mighty, truly be sorry? Eddie didn’t want to be too vulnerable with Steve. This could all still be some sort of prank.

“It’s whatever, man. Forget about it.”

Steve nodded, “So, how do I make a character?”

That’s how Eddie Munson turned Steve Harrington into a Dungeons and Dragons player. He had joined Eddie’s campaign along with the Hellfire Club members. Even though he received a few looks in the beginning, by the end of the campaign the other members had accepted him into the club.

“Wait... so the bad guy was tricking us all along?”

“Yes!” They all groaned.

“Ohhhhh! Now I get it! How do we stop him?”

Eddie almost ripped all his hair out during the game.

It was scary how quickly Steve became a constant part of his life. Whether it was at lunch, after-school hangouts, or D&D campaigns; he was always with him. It got to the point where other students noticed, too. The rumor hill had been buzzing with stories, the most popular one being Steve and Eddie having some weird friendship for weed deal going on. Neither of them cared about what the others had to say and continued to hang out nearly every day.  

This was dangerous, though, because Eddie was falling fast for his new best friend. Steve and his perfect hair, and his stupid jokes, his ridiculously tight jeans, and his unbelievably pretty eyes. And, of course, Steve just had to be the touchiest person he’s ever met. Personal space just didn’t exist in Steve’s world and that made it increasingly difficult for Eddie to repress his feeling.

It all came to a boiling point one afternoon in Steve’s room.

They had decided to hang out and watch a movie like they normally did. The movie, however, was quickly forgotten in favor of talking. They sat close together on Steve’s living room floor, backs against the couch.

Steve touched Eddie’s hair, playing lightly with the curls, “How long did it take you to grow it out?”

Eddie tried to control his breathing, “Um- Like all of high school.”

Steve hummed, commenting offhandedly, “It’s shorter than it was before, though.”

Eddie furrowed his eyebrows, “What do you mean? This is the longest it’s ever been.”

As if only now realizing what he said, Steve’s eyes widened and he froze, “Um- I didn’t- I meant it used to be way shorter, right?” He finished off with a nervous chuckle.

Weird .

“Yeah, dark times,” he laughed lightly, “I used to have it buzzed in middle school. Never again.”

Steve’s gaze dropped down to Eddie’s forearm, “Have you ever thought of getting a tattoo here? Like bats or something?”

Eddie’s stomach dropped, “How’d you know that?”

Steve looked panicked, “Shit.”

“Steve. I’ve been thinking of getting that tatted for months. I haven’t told anyone about it. How’d you know?”

“Would you believe me if I said it was a lucky guess?”

Eddie have Steve an unimpressed look.

Steve sighed, “You wouldn’t believe me.”

Eddie took Steve’s hand in his, enjoying how Steve’s face flushed, “Try me.”

Steve took a deep breath, “I’m from two years into the future.”

Eddie’s jaw dropped. He had expected some sort of magic trick or something, not time travel.

“Are you serious?”

“As a heart attack.”

“Can you prove it?

Steve looked away in thought, “I mean I guess. But nothing that would make you believe me now.” He looked back at Eddie, “Metallica will come out with a new song in two years called Master of Puppets.”

Eddie took in this information. That would be fucking sick if Steve was right. Did he really believe him, though? But that would explain the tattoo…

Eddie hummed, “Guess I’ll just have to wait two years and get back to you.”

“Yeah. Guess so,” Steve chuckled.

A comfortable silence fell over the two as they looked at each other.

“…Eddie.” Steve looked apprehensive as he continued, “Being back gave me the chance to get to know you, and… I’ve realized something now.”

Great. This was when he told Eddie that he really was a freak. That he regretted all the time they spent together.

“What’d you realize?” It nearly killed Eddie to ask this.

“You’re nothing like I thought you’d be like. And I wish I’d got to know you in high school the first time around. Because maybe then…” Steve smiled at him, “Maybe then I would’ve realized that I liked you sooner. Like… like like you.”

“Can I kiss you, Stevie?”

“Please.”

They met in the middle for a kiss that was all teeth. It hurt a little but it felt so good. Steve’s hands made their way to Eddie’s hair. He tugged lightly, causing Eddie to groan into his mouth. They parted for air.

“Fuck , Harrington.”

Steve chuckled, “Don’t stop now, Munson.”

They continued like that for a while, neither of them getting enough of the other. Steve was quickly shown what he had been missing and God, he was obsessed with Eddie Munson. Eddie had managed to graduated that year, Steve being able to help him with school since he had taken the same classes before.

Two years later when Metallica published their latest song, Master of Puppets, Eddie nearly lost his mind

My feelings about season 2 of the Loki series are currently very similar to when I found out what else Steven Moffat and JK Rowling had presented to the public.

Ranting about the value of authorial intent, boycotting bigots, and asking the universe why a company like Disney lets people write about things they know nothing about under the cut.

I loved Doctor Who, and I enjoyed it enough to keep watching each episode as it came out through the end of of Matt Smith because the actors were clearly enjoying themselves and individual episodes were good, but the resolution of the story arcs was so bad after Tennant left and I knew that wasn't down to Smith's acting ability. Nice setup, bad play, over and over again. I expected a long con for River Song, but then after she was revealed to be a bespoke assasin designed to manipulate him on every level the Doctor just... boned her anyway? Despite being an ace romantic for the last 50 years? Explicitly so, what with how his people didn't reproduce sexually and that is a plot point even in the new series. That was hardly the only storyline with a very strange ending that left myself (and many other fans) dissatisfied.

I didn't get why the show made such a turn for the worse, and it was my complete disinterest in authorial intent, backstage drama, and entertainment news interviews kicking me in the ass. (As it occasionally does.) Moffat can do a lot of things, and his individual episodes are often fantastic, but bringing a season long story arc to a beautiful end is just not one of them. When I read what his intent was for these stories I just laughed. I didn't take away half the things he expected a casual fan to notice, let alone the deeper meanings that people like me who love to rewatch and theory craft supposedly should have seen. It all felt rushed and unfinished at best, a bit of deus ex machina at worst.

Nope, you failed the assignment. It's just more embarrassing because you are the one who defined the assignment in the first place. I hated the end of Sherlock too, (S4) and now I know that I'll probably love the setup and hate the resolution for anything Moffat makes because that is just how he makes things.

I think there is a lot of value in looking at what someone made without director commentary because bad things can be made with the best of intentions and good things can be made by very problematic people. I have no interest in entertaining JK Rowling's asinine declaration that Dumbledore and Lupin as written in the 7 HP books are good queer representation. The things she says and promotes about trans people are disgusting. However, that doesn't change what I experienced when I read the books or the community I found among fans at the time. It means I won't consume new things she makes and, to be fully honest, cemented my view that a film or book contains what it contains and should be criticized or praised separately from the people who made it. Pottermore became the worst bit of public self-pleasuring I've yet seen. All her cut and extra content for the world neither added much nor was a loss to the main story. She believes that while an individual can do great things, systemic change is always bad and honestly that both predates and supersedes her being a terf in my decision to avoid her other work.

This view was only maintained when my own fanfiction started getting nasty comments about how this or that fannon theory was bunkum when those fannon theories didn't appear in my story, they only existed in other stories with similar tags. This is how I consume media and how I evaluate narratives, and if that isn't for you then that's fine. It doesn't mean I ignore bigots or that I don't think anyone deserves to be judged when they show their ugly to the world.

So... the Loki series. Turns out a show with a main character who has been canonically queer for the last *checks Norse mythology* twelve centuries or so was made by bigots. Now I am a strong believer that if you do your research and are hard working you can write about anything and be respectful about it, but that's assuming you aren't deeply opposed to the core subject matter. There is nothing I have seen to show that Tom Hiddleston has this issue, but from the writers on down to the actress playing the main character (not Loki but Sylvie, who seems like his replacement as the "superior" version of the character according to the show) are either openly bigots or are blinded by their entitled ignorance of why Loki went off the rails in the first place.

What the actual Hela is this? Does Sylvie need to be played by a bi or genderqueer person for me to be happy? No. It would be nice and I think since *insert current year argument* we are where we are it is absolutely possible to have that kind of face- on- screen representation, but that isn't necessary if you have good actors willing to shoot the sorts of scenes that role requires.

The writers room is where the diversity needs to be, it has to be in the initial creation. On a project of this scale (meaning the MCU) all these scripts have teams and assistants and editors crawling over the story - you can claim one person wrote the thing and I'll just laugh in your face. A specific scene, maybe, but there is a committee involved in this and it isn't small. All the way down to the directors talking about the tone and the actors improvising lines they think work better, this is a group project.

I could name a hundred terrible books written by bigots about this or that minority that perpetuate a host of horrible stereotypes. I could show you the movies where some of that filth was scrubbed off the source material by less or non-bigoted script writers, directors, and cast. Here is one low-hanging fruit: Look at the difference between how the Fifty Shades trilogy treats BDSM kink as a mental illness purely caused by abuse that can be cured with love and vanilla heterosexual intercourse and reproduction and the movie where consent takes center stage (or tries to.)

When the initial cut of meat is full of maggots it doesn't matter how you try to trim it up or what spices you use, the meal will be tainted. Disney hiring people who find no value in core parts of the main character's identity to make a TV series is the stupidest decision they have made in the entire MCU.

Solas overall (though it doesn't become "official" til trespasser). Has a fling with Dorian for a while, as well as pre-justice Anders while he was in the circle.

Your three favorite traits your Inquisitor possesses?

1 - He's a liar, and I love it. He'll just say shit and people believe him. He uses this power for good. Mostly.

2 - This is blatant projection but my boy loves some good civil infrastructure. A good aqueduct is enough to give him (and me) an erection.

3 - He's pretty cosmopolitan, for a templar. He's familiar with cultures and languages in Nevarra, Orlais, Ferelden, The Free Marches, and he's somewhat familiar with qunari customs+language as well. He gets around.

Does he/she like to read?

Yes! I think he particularly likes mysteries, dusty philosophy books (more projection), and beginners guides for incredibly niche topics which he knows nothing about. And history books, to a somewhat lesser extent.

He's an extremely mediocre cook.

I think he's an autumn girly. He would love the vibes. I think he would enjoy spending time in the forest just brooding about death or decay or some other moody shit.

He enjoys the game and he's very good at it. Political bullshit is his whole thing.

Yes, but he doesn't gamble often. I think he'd prefer to watch.

Growing up to be a holy prophet, righting wrong wherever he went, beloved by all (or at least most - after all, every hero needs adversaries to defeat). Funny how that worked out.

The way that people treat him like a symbol, not a person. It feels like he can't really have opinions, he can't care about people, he can't believe in anything, because people will make whatever assumptions about him they want, regardless of if they're true. He's used to being careful about the things he says, but not having the things he says be outright ignored or blatantly misinterpreted. It's infuriating.

Does your Inquisitor have any skills or talents others wouldn't expect?

He's an amateur sculptor+whittler and a more-than-amateur tinker. He also dabbles in architectural design. They don't exist in Thedas, but in another life he collected model trains and expensive lego sets.

Solas chills the fuck out without doing weird shit to the veil and they both go back to Kirkwall (it doesn't even have to be Kirkwall. He'd thrive in any major city). Hal appoints someone else to rule while he gets a position as some sort of chief architect/civil designer with a nigh-unlimited budget. Solas does whatever he wants that doesn't involve destroying the world. They both live happily ever after and adopt a cat.

Five stormed out of the donut shop. He needed to find that kid. They had been right. She tried warning him about the commission, as well as pointing out his tracker. He was holding onto the doubt of her just being someone playing a prank. But it was now clear they were the real deal.

Five would search the entire city for them if he needed to. However when they had said "I'll be around" they were not lying. Five found them digging in the dumpster next to the Hargreeves house.

"I wouldn't have pegged you for a dumpster diver," Five commented.

Out popped a platinum head of hair. "I was looking for something important, but I think I'm too late," they groaned.

"You weren't joking?" Five asked, not caring it it was to a butt of a person climbing out of a dumpster.

"Nope," she said, popping the p. "Can really she the future. And past. And present. But like the future is the fun part.... most of the time."

Five gave them a once over. They clearly didn't look the age, but neither did he. "When we're you born?" he asked. She could be another one of the 43 kids he and his siblings where from.

"September 11th," she answered, slipping her box of a bag over her shoulder. It was a brown faded leather, covered in stickers and painted doodles. They pulled out a handful of metal, jewelry.

"You really are just an anomaly." Five commented, mildly confused about their existence.

Ryn clicked their tongue. "Not by choice... Now is there a reason you found me, or just trying to mildly harass me." They slipped on a bundle of bracelets to both wrist. There were plastic bands, cheap beads, crystal beads, as well as metals and jewels.

"How dose the world end?" Five asked.

Ryn seemed prepared for that question. "V is for very, very extra ordinary." She was slipping on ring, one on about every finger. Again, a variety of quality, one was plastic, while the nicest one was of gold and opal.

So that part wasn't a joke either. "Who is involved with the end of the world?" he continued on.

"No body mention my familia," Ryn said, once again prepared. They had clipped a velvet choker on, and was working on getting in an earing. It looked like a sword piercing through her earlobe.

"Spanish?" Five question.

Ryn shrugged. "It's from a movie soundtrack." She finally finished of the pile of jewelry, by tucking a locking chain under their shirt.

"My family, or your family?" Five asked for clarification.

"Wasn't me," Ryn was quick to answer. Clearly still using song lyrics. She was now messing with the rings, making sure they felt right on her fingers.

Five groaned. "Even a simple question like that?"

Ryn laughed, "No, that one just easily came to mind. It's your family." They picked up the flannel shirt of the ground and tied it around their waist.

"Who is the owner of the eye?" Five asked, wanting to stump her. He didn't want her to expect every question he was going to ask. Not to mention not even appearing to care about the questions being asked.

"Can't you see all I really want to be is your boyfriend," Ryn said, showing slight signs of embarrassment. "Then like the entire song of Bohemian Rhapsody fits pretty well." They stuck their hand into their pockets and swayed on their feet.

"Bohemian Rhapsody?" Five wondered.

Ryn let out a dramatic gasp. "You don't know Bohemian Rhapsody? The best song in all of existence?"

"There wasn't really music after the apocalypse," Five explained.

"Than my goal is before the end of the world to at least introduce you to Queen," Ryn declared. "And ya know, stop the end of the world"

"Alright one last question right now," Five sighed. Whole he had plenty of questions, as none of her answers made sense. " Do you have any obligations for the next 8 days?"

"Just make sure my brother knows I'm not dead," Ryn shrugged, "Or doing anything illegal. Which I feel will be the harder one."

Five nodded. "Alright," he then started walking back to the car he had just got out of. "I think the only person we should trust right now is Vanya?"

"Why only V?" Ryn asked as she was quick to follow Five.

He grabbed the door to the driver's side door, turning back to look at Ryn. He wanted to make sure he heard them right. "Vanya?"

"V," Ryn repeated in a serious tone.

Five just sighed. Easy to tell Ryn wasn't one to argue with. "Get in," he told her, opening the driver side door for himself.

Ryn climbed into the passenger side, and quick to buckle herself in as Five was already pulling off. "We could just walk," Ryn pointed out.

"It late, and I want to get their quickly," Five explained.

Ryn reached into her bag pulling something out. Five was to focused on the road to see though it didn't sound like a weapon. "Couldn't you just jump through space to get there?" she questioned, though it seemed only half her attention was on the conversation now.

"But you can't," he pointed out.

Ryn hummed, and gave an audible shrug. "The is correct, however, out of the two of us, I'm the one who has a valid driver's license." Five could hear the sound of pen on paper. They were writing something.

"There isn't a DMV in the apocalypse," Five said sarcastically.

"I know," Ryn said simply, "Just telling you not to get pulled over."

Five scoffed, "I could loose any cop."

Ryn sighed. "Don't commit a crime, when you're committing a crime." There was the loud sound of paper ripping. "There are quite a few serial killers who got caught by routine traffic stops." She sat the piece of paper down between the two of them, closer to Five.

Five glanced momentarily at the paper, trying to see what was written on it. "What's that?" he asked, not able to make anything out without stopping the car.

"Wrote down the answers to your questions, just so you have them down," Ryn explained. "For reference."

Ryn then leaned back into her seat. "So what, you're like 60, in a thirteen year old body," they pointed out. "That's got to be weird. Like is your brain still that of a 60 year old, or that of a thirteen year old?"

"What dose it matter?" Five groaned.

"Curiosity killed the cat," Ryn said as an explanation. "And like the human brain is so weird. And that not including time travel and age manipulation. Like human brains don't fully develop until the age 25. But then in 30's or 40's it starts to loose mass. Like you really only have what, five years of peak brain function. Seems like a waste."

"Are you ever quiet?" he groaned, not wanting to talk.

Ryn clicked their tongue. "If I want to be."

"Please shut up," Five plead.

Ryn forced a wide smile onto her face. "Only because you asked nicely."

Corine came walking in with a bottle of wine and a pack of beer. While plenty of alcohol had been found through the years, Corine had been admitted that they don't drink it. They sat down on their bed, a mattress they dug out of the rubble and fixed with clothing that couldn't be worn by either of them.

"What are you doing?" he asked them, setting down the book he was reading.

"What dose it look like?" they scoffed, trying to pull the cork out with their hands. "I'm gonna drink."

He gave them a questioning look. "You are the one who says we shouldn't," he pointed out.

"Well I'm 21 today, and by the law of what once was the government of the land we live upon, I can now get intoxicated as a please," they pointed out. They had given up on using their hands and pulled out their knife to get the cork out. It did not come out in one piece, but they could now drink the wine.

He didn't know how to take that. It was their birthday. He knew their favorite color, which sources of water they prefer, even the songs they like to sing, what their favorite part of a combustible engine is. Yet he didn't know their birthday. He didn't even know they were still keeping track to be able to know what day it is.

They took a swig of the wine, physically cringing and gagging at the taste. Yet they didn't hesitate to take another drink. "It's been five years," they mumbled to themselves.

It clearly wasn't the anniversary of the end of the world. That was in late winter, early spring, whole it was turning from summer to fall. They were talking about something else. "Care to share what your lamenting about?" he asked.

"Woo!", they let out a half hearted cheer. To try and bring something to the monotony of the apocalypse, they chose a word from a dictionary, and tried to use it plenty throughout the day. That day it had been 'lament'.

They fell back into the mattress, not caring about the spilt wine. "It's really weird dude," they said.

He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. "Try me." He told them plenty about their life which was anything but normal.

"Could never tell you what happened the day I turned the day I turned seventeen," they sang out. They'd commonly sing lyrics instead of answering questions, or holding conversations.

"Hey, who else are you going to tell?" he asked, throwing a rock at their foot.

"It was my seventeenth birthday. The one between the sweet sixteen and turning an adult. I didn't expect much, I never did. Did not have the track record of good birthdays, starting with the day of my birth. I just wanted a nice dinner and to eat some cake.

My brother came back in to town for the week, as well as my sister drove in from college the day of. I couldn't tell them I didn't want them there. My parents wouldn't have believed me if I told them I hated my siblings. Throw those two in with my already terrible mental health, and I just wanted to be done.

I took a handful of so many medications, and just layed down in the bathtub. I woke up a couple minuets later in my bed. I went into the bathroom, and there in the bathtub was my own body." They took a long drink of the wine. " Luckily there was some wetland behind the house, so I didn't need to transport the body far. But burying your own body, it's... traumatizing.

And it's not like I could tell anyone, they wouldn't believe me."

He got up and went over to sit next to them. There were so many more things to be worried about than how the bottle of wine was now empty. "You wanted to kill yourself?" he asked in disbelief. They were the one trying the hardest to survive since they met.

"Yup, but I couldn't," they declared, throwing away the bottle. "Instead I worked to graduate high school early, saved every penny I earned, and sold of what I could. I ran away, I killed the parts of me I could. I was going to start new. But a week later, the world ended."

With a groan they sat up, pulling the back of beer to them. They pulled open the cardboard an pulled out a can. "Help yourself," they offered, cracking open the can. "Cracking open a cold one with the boys."

"You're really just gonna move past all that?" he questioned.

They nodded. "Yup, nothing but facts from the past. Just keep moving forward."

In at number one we have RinHaru, also known as Sharkbait. Everything Free! began and ended with these two. The entire first season is about their relationship, and the final fight in the Eternal Summer Special is between them. RinHaru may not have the years of friendship that MakoHaru and SouRin have behind them - but that’s what makes them such an amazing pairing. Within just a short few months in the last term of their last year of elementary school, Rin and Haru became an unforgettable presence in each other’s lives.

(Come on, you know points were made 😉).

But then ofc, you got people crying in the comments that their ship isn't No.1. Which okay, I totally get that you'd feel your ship should be at the top even though the article is just someone's personal opinion...and they didn't even attack your ship; if anything, they put it at No.2 and only had lovely things to say about it, but seriously?? Calling RinHaru toxic?? In the year of our lord 2021???

Aren't y'all exhausted with your own selves by now? I know the rest of us are.

And so, I'm sharing my response to those comments here, for although I have much more organized and polished essays on my drafts on how RinHaru Is NOT Toxic, I really had to just get these points out for now:

Claiming something to be true doesn't make it true, especially when it's driven by an emotional attachment to an opposing ship.

None of the relationships in Free are toxic except for Ikuya x Hiyori, ugh, especially RinHaru, since this is the one haters love to ignorantly throw the "toxic" label on. The entire series wouldn't revolve around Haru and Rin's relationship if that were the case (and Utsumi, the director, comes out and says that Free! is Haru and Rin's story).

The staff, director, VAs all have POSITIVE and lovely things to say about Haru and Rin's friendship. Utsumi said in the RinHaru Mook interview that Rin was the only one who could do what he did in helping Haru realize his dream in S2. In Ep4 of Take Your Marks, Haru himself literally tells Rin that he is the reason Haru was even able to move towards the future. This is all CANON, not headcanon, not fanon, but actual canon material directly from the words of the Free! staffa and anime.

Explain to me how RinHaru is "tOxiC"?? Because they've argued? Because Rin unknowingly and unintentionally hurt Haru when he only once ever told him he'd never have to swim with him again?? Because Rin was suffering with depression (as Utsumi herself said) throughout Season 1 and sometimes showed symptoms of his depression? Because Rin kicked a trashcan out of frustration in S1E12????

Hahaha like seriously, it's okay if you strongly dislike RinHaru as a ship, but calling it "tOxiC" is such a pathetic stretch as a hater. Especially when doing so, you undermine actual toxic relationships and the victims who live through them.

The entire Free! franchise has multiple movies, 2.5 whole seasons and even a 4-episode film that shows Rin being one of the most supportive, sweet, caring and motivating characters on the show. He drives Haru to constantly improve at swimming, was the only one who was able to breakthrough to Haru in Season 2 about Haru's future dream the way he did (again, as Utsumi herself said), is the reason Haru attributes to being able to step towards the future, is a "dear friend" to Haru whom Haru cares a whole lot about and, as Season 1 shows us, strongly wants in his life.

But I guess none of this exists for antis—nope, in their own 2013-stuck worlds, RiNhArU iZ dA tOxiC sHiP.

(But hey, at least the commenter agreed in a follow-up comment that their claim is "dry, unoriginal ignorant and completely-undermining-to-ACTUAL-toxic-relationship"—acceptance is one of the first steps to recovery :))

Still alive, even if it's too hot to exist. I was working the whole of last week, did a weaving workshop at a little afternoon for kids, a Day with Imperial Romans, it was pretty fun. And went to opera yesterday with my roommate! It was amazing, I haven't been to one in years and it was a balm for my soul, amazing scene, truly beautiful, great costumes (especially Desdemona) and the music.... goosebumps. Especially at the beginning, it was so dramatic. Loved it.

Currently reading: The Sorceress by Michael Scott (love how it took me a week to get through the first book but then I inhaled the second and half of the third book in one day)

Day Eight: What would you say to people that are stuck in a difficult or toxic relationship, be it friendships, romantic relationships or relationships with family?

I'd say get out, but that's not so easy. So probably just that it will be better, they are better off without them and that time and distance help a lot.

Day Nine: What do you do when you're sad? What makes you feel better during difficult or trying times?

Cry. Write poetry. Sleep. Unless I need to be productive, then I just play aggressive music, have a smoke, turn a bit bitter and get shit done. And then I cry and sleep.

Day Ten: Are you writing any papers/ doing thesis work/ journaling) general writing right now? If so, share what you've been working on! If not, share a picture of your favourite set of notes you've written.

I'm not writing anything as of rn, so here they come? I don't have a favourite set of notes, but I do like these:

Day Eleven: What are you're biggest fears? What tips would you give someone trying to overcome their fears?

Being left alone (said the girl who moved out of her country and sees her family and close friends 2-3 times a year). I have a lot of fears, and I don't think I've overcome any of them, just learned how to ignore them. But having a safe space to try and overcome your fear helps. Knowing that even if you fail, it's all alright and you're safe, someone safe is with you and that you're not left alone. Having someone to talk you down does a lot, too.

Day Twelve: What reminds you of home? Share some pictures that you've taken around your city (or your favourite public place or coffee shop to study or read in your city).

Broth. Gardens. Books. Mom's cooking and hugs, dad's jokes and cigarette smell. Our cats. Grandma's perfume. That one watch. I find fields and remízky comforting.

Day Thirteen: What happens when you come across a concept that you just can't wrap your head around in your studies? What tips do you have to make difficult concepts easier to grasp?

Take a break, make tea, open the window. Consult other notes, try to break it down into smaller concepts and try to find the system or parts that I already know/understand. Ask a friend/teacher for help. No, really, take consultations and ask your teachers.

Day Fourteen: Have you ever done a productivity challenge? Were you successful?

Nope and I don't think I will do one anytime soon. I know it just won't work for me and that's fine.
