SUMMARY.

born in manchester and the eldest of the finch brood (comprising of josie, giselle, and jasper), valentine ("val") became the caretaker to their three siblings at an early age, filling in the gap left by their parents who were constantly absent in their lives. the role coincided with their emerging success as a cello soloist, having graduated from the competition circuit and coming into their own skin. caught at a fork in the road between ambition and family, val elected for the latter and moved back to manchester to attend uni and take a job at the regional orchestra. the finch family's move to the states prompted them to look for opportunities elsewhere, eventually becoming a rank and file cello player for the chicago symphony orchestra. their quick rise through the ranks in was responded to with allegations of corruption, exacerbated by their relationship and marriage to someone who had an administrative role within it. for the next four years, val enjoyed a fairly luxurious life—only to be cut short when their wife began fielding allegations of corporate embezzlement. while the couple was ultimately cleared of all cases late last year ( the couple might've gotten away with it ? who knows !!! ), the financial, legal, and personal struggles broke them apart. amid this private dysfunction, the industry rumor mill only exacerbated, prompting valentine to begin divorce proceedings with their wife, to leave the orchestra for the incoming season, and to return to bh where their siblings had settled. valentine has done their best to keep their head down and is committed to returning once they gain back their footing. only—it's been months since they'd even picked up their instrument.

As a kid, Val was precocious and wild. A middle child in a family of five, the young curly-haired child would get his older and younger sisters, Benna and Ruth, to tag along on all his hair-brained schemes. But Val took longer to ‘grow up’ than their sisters. Ruth was off to law school and Benna went into fashion and moved to the States. Val had just barely graduated high school and was convinced college wasn’t for him. Even so, living with his mother showed Val a strong woman working in journalism, and he started to wonder if that was his path as well.

Finally seeking out college programs, Val decided to apply for residencies. Despite not having much experience, a professor at BU decided to take him in, finding their application intriguing. It was Val’s first time away from home for more than a few days and he made the most of it. The first few weeks were all partying and sleeping around, but Val started noticing an issue with their vision- it was getting harder to read the whiteboard, and he found himself trying on reading glasses, having issues with the reading homework. Even their own notes were suffering- and after a trip to an eye doctor, Val got some bad news. Their vision was failing and in the next year or so, they’d most likely be legally blind. With this knowledge, it re-started something inside them. He wanted to do well in school, wanted to get the things done he’d always wanted. With a few helpful professors encouraging them, Val was writing creative stories he’d thought about way back when he was growing up in Kilkenny. Suddenly there was a manuscript, and just as suddenly, Val Dupont was a published author with a series of middlegrade fantasy novels. 

While Val made trips back home many times and even lived with their mother for a time, ultimately he moved to New York City, closer to the publishing company he worked closely with, his agent, and a new assistant. After moving however, Val wanted a taste of the nightlife and found himself heading out to various bars and clubs. Overhearing little things. Tidbits from one professional whispered at a bar to another, overheard by the unassuming curly-haired author with the red-tipped cane sipping a cocktail alone. And sometimes when someone came home to Val’s condo, they talked even more freely. Suddenly Val had a wealth of information and nowhere to put it… until they met members of the Executioners. Suddenly the information was important, and needed, and Val was welcomed with open arms. Suddenly there was a place to unwind and unload- friends and dalliances and always, always, something to tell his Executioner cohorts. Val's the ears of the outfit and wouldn't have it any other way.

I play fast and loose with her canon / the lore I know from different novels and audios. Quickest Biography I Can Muster—

Susan Foreman in her current form and state of being is roughly 450-475 years old, and sporting her fifth face. 

Four(4) faces ago she was a little Gallifreyan girl just changing her name and fucking around with her Grandfather and her two good Earth friends. Then she was left on a hostile time in Earth’s history with her then-future-husband, David, by the Doctor. They adopted a handful of children and tried to make a life in alien-hostile, Dalek-infested 22nd Century Earth. 

Three(3) faces ago she regenerated after people began to question why David looked so much older and Susan stayed, well, literally exactly the same. The same face, but older. But not too old, either. Her son Alex died by Dalek attack, and in a turn of events not long after the Master kidnapped and killed David in front of her. Susan, in defense, killed the Master and stole his TARDIS. As one does. Her psychic skills were always impressive, apparently, compared to other Time Lords. She didn’t know how so until she got a test for it. And why wouldn’t she keep a TARDIS she rightfully earned, anyways?

Two(2) faces ago… Two faces ago she didn’t last long. The events surrounding David and Alex estranged her from her own surviving kids in a way she tried to swear wouldn’t happen when she was the parental figure. Her remaining kids wanted nothing to do with her. The Time Lords thought her dead, and when she could’ve received any summons to the Time War, she simply ignored them anyways. Eventually they went away— and when they came back she spent the majority of her regeneration in the chameleon arch under a fobwatch in a last ditch effort to avoid any chance of returning to her home planet, let alone one that was burning.  

One(1) face ago she began to reunite with Barbara and Ian Chesterton on Earth. This involved meeting their kid, Johnny, and taking Johnny around with her for a few trips and hang outs here and there. She was fine, definitely not still in a bad place after her kids and her husband all died, definitely not angry and sad because the rest of her children estranged themselves from her after David and Alex dying, definitely didn’t react as poorly as anyone might to their home being destroyed while they willingly hid, definitely didn’t try to die by inhibiting her regeneration on purpose hahahaa why would she do that? 

Face Number Five, Right here, right now she’s… Still freshly regenerated, for the most part. Definitely figuring herself out sometimes- most times. She’s often rather manic in this point in her regeneration, reckless, flighty and feels ever-so-slightly invincible after her coincidental survival. She’s bubbling over with life and energy and space where she wants to be. Earth is her home more than anything else, sometimes viewing humans as an anthropological study that she couldn’t put down to the point of entangling her life into them. 

Susan hops between hobbyist time travel and attempting to build some sort of, any sort of life of her own around the Chestertons. As she settled into this face, the more Barbara and Ian tried to encourage her to get a job, a steady career to give her something to do. Johnny encouraged it if only to help their friend build some sort of identity. 

She job hops. History and ghost walking tours were good fun and a way to show off, until people online started to realize she was giving tours in different countries in the same week. Real estate was completely dull. Working with plants was promising… Currently she resides as the lead art curator for a museum in London. It’s amazing, she has an incredible knack for finding mysteriously lost or otherwise stolen artworks. It’s great luck, knowing the right people at the right time. It would be silly for Ian or Barbara to even suggest time travel was involved in the slightest.

Susan 5 is here for a good time, not a long time. If you ask her, she clearly has regenerations to spare. Lives are less a dwindling resource and more a tool she can rely on when needed. She is figuring out her personhood, doesn’t exactly know who she is— but her name is Susan Foreman. And she’s new, she’s young, she’s fresh, she’s hot. Let’s see where this goes.

dr. leo amoretto shares very little about himself with his peers. though friendly with just about everyone he meets, he doesn’t consider himself to have many friends: he feels himself too dull to be of much interest to anyone. through quick conversation with him, though, you can quickly deduce from his accent that he’s from queens; and from his mannerisms that he’s painfully shy and high-strung, and old-fashioned.

the man known as many kids’ favorite doctor was adopted and raised by his sicilian grandparents in queens. his existence was an accident: his mother, only 19, had immigrated by herself only months prior to getting pregnant; his father was twice his mother’s age and was little more than a hook-up with a fellow italian immigrant. fabiana amoretto was an immature, irresponsible addict; and her parents, gianfranco and benedetta, made the decision to sell their deli business in palermo and immigrate themselves so they could be in their grandson’s life.

being in their grandson’s life turned into raising him completely, gaining custody of him when he was in kindergarten, as his mother would still often disappear for days at a time, totally neglecting her young child. she missed out on a brilliantly intelligent, and helpful and sweet, little boy. leo’s grandparents’ english wasn’t very strong, so he learned italian and sicilian as his first languages at home; while they enjoyed playing old movies and tv shows to learn english faster. 

even from a very young age, leo hasn’t liked many eyes on him at once, shrinking in anxiety when too much attention is placed on him. the confusion of languages—italian and sicilian at home, english at school and everywhere else—combined with his crippling shyness formed a lifelong stutter that has diminished only slightly with time. as an adult in his 30s, he can control it usually; but if he has to speak for too long or if he’s in distress, it becomes far more obvious.

leo was always a dutiful child, learning to cook and do many household chores from a young age. this became even more important when his nonno—grandfather—was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer when leo was a teenager. leo had to take over much of the house work and cooked most of the meals, and would accompany nonno to appointments while nonna was busy working to support them. leo was doing all of this in between staying at the top of his class and completing community service for activities such as beta club.

nonno died when leo was weeks away from graduating high school. he’d always been a bit melancholy, but the death sent leo into a spiral of depression. it was late enough into the school year that he was already guaranteed to graduate as valedictorian, and he had been awarded many scholarships to several top schools; but he began floating through life. he didn’t go far for his undergrad years so he could be close to his nonna, who was soon diagnosed with a rare nerve disease called myesthenia gravis.

nonna died during the summer between undergrad and the beginning of medical school. leo totally buried himself in med school. his mother has only ever made occasional appearances in his life, begging for money; and he wasn’t very close with his extended family in italy.

being so intelligent and dedicated, leo had very little trouble getting a residency on match day when he was finished with med school; and after that, he quickly found interest in the pediatrics field: when you watch him interact with children, it’s plain to see that it’s much easier for him to interact with them than adults, and that he has a huge heart.

he ended up in anchorage as a way to put distance between himself and the memories of the past, not wanting to be surrounded by painful reminders. it’s difficult out here, as he’s just so damn shy, but he’s already gained a reputation as a diligent and caring doctor.

and if you manage to get close enough to him, it’s like having an italian grandma who’s a gay man in his thirties.

Bio: Immigrating from [Greece] with his family at a young age, Hymn was the child of a human and siren who met and wed very young. Tragedy struck not too many years after when his father fell gravely ill. Desperate, they sought aid at Basilisk’s clinic which was readily provided–at a high price. Unable to work while he recovered, it was up to Hymn to earn money to pay off their debt. While his mother tended to his father, he worked odd jobs to try and scrape by. However, due to alleged “complications” during his treatment, Hymn’s father died at the clinic. Hymn’s mother was held captive until she suffocated from a lack of saltwater to live off of–however, Hymn was informed that she had instead committed suicide after the loss of her husband. Still expecting to collect his due, Basilisk took Hymn in to continue working for him until he was large enough to be promoted to his personal lackey and bodyguard. Basilisk claims to have done him a great service, to which Hymn owes him his life. Until such a debt is repaid, he serves obediently and muzzled.

Iseul is a fairly blunt person, never afraid to speak up on how they feel about any given situation. If something is bothering you, and they notice, expect to be questioned on it in the near future. If something is unfair, they’ll mention it. They’ve built up a fairly thick skin from all the insults hurled at them during their time in school, but every once in a while a comment resurfaces that will have them curled up in an all too familiar position: tucked into the corner of their bed as small as possible as the covers shudder with sobs. It’s not often—they make sure of that—but they’re always embarrassed the next morning. That aforementioned thick skin is built up for a good reason: they’ve gotten a lot of flack for being open about their gender identity. They learned a long time ago that it was better to be honest; hiding it only gave them a reason to be hurt later on. The comments sting, but they generally try to brush them off, doing their best to ignore them—even though they’re more sensitive than they appear. They can be a tad reserved, one of those people who can say a lot without saying much at all. Born Kang Iseul on July 10th, 1999 in Chicago, to two loving parents with one older sibling. Their parents were incredibly supportive of them throughout their transition, and they are eternally grateful for the opportunities that they got that they are acutely aware others did not. When they were sixteen, they realized they were nonbinary after watching their sibling go through the same type of thing when transitioning. They began experimenting with a more feminine style and even makeup, before settling on an androgynous presentation. It was rough, and they were bullied a lot for it. Their transition was rough, full of self-doubts and worries, but their parents were surprisingly supportive. Their classmates, however, not so much. They had to deal with a great deal of bullying throughout the majority of their junior and senior years, only getting relief when they left the school system shortly before their senior year. Iseul was a dancer when they were young, and it was and will always be their first true love. They specialized in contemporary dance, and it was their favorite thing to do. Dancing comes as naturally as breathing to them, and it’s something that they feel very lucky that they’ve never had to work at. Everything else, on the other hand, has not. Unfortunately, when they were about 19, they fell during a routine, rolling their ankle severely. They broke a bone, and that was that. It never quite set right, as they didn't realize it was broken until it was too late to set it properly. They wouldn't be able to dance the same way ever again. Not being able to do the thing they loved anymore cut deep to their core, and the only way that Iseul could think to relieve themselves was to move away. WITCHER. ———————————— In the beginning, Miya made a deal with a local mage to change her appearance to be that of a young boy, in hopes that she would get picked up by any passing witcher to take her in. She was sick of the dead end village she lived in and wanted a life of excitement and adventure. Luckly, or not so, she was snatched up and taken to one of the many organizations, which one is now lost to her memory. However, 15 years later, at age 19 or 20, the spell broke and forever cursed her with deafness and changed her back to a woman. She fled the academy and took everything she could. Now she roams the world in search of her next contract just to survive.

Born with ancient dragon's blood in her veins, the draconid Miya hides herself away high in the mountains, as far from humanity as possible. From a young age she has learned that her blood holds immense magical properties that are sought out by many. Either by force or by pleading. She has experienced more of the former in her lifetime. Because of this, her knowledge of her family history, and by extension her draconid history, is limited.

Thus, Miya has learned to provide for herself by tending to a small plot of land and a few livestock on the mountainside. Here she spends her days living mostly alone. Occasionally, there will be the stray traveler that she will assist by giving directions or sparing some of her resources, but never allowing them to know what she is or where she resides.

If she were to ever travel close to humanity for whatever need, she cloaks herself in various fabrics and hoods to obscure her appearance. Miya would rather appear to be a mysterious or shady traveler than a draconid. She has been fairly successful in her excursions, and has found traveling at night to be the safest.

There are few humans whom she trusts who have not, or yet, shown any ill intentions. These people she will visit if they have resources for trade, before trying to test the waters with the local market herself. Miya much prefers to trade with them by offering hand woven fabrics and dried or cured meats in exchange for things such as vegetables or herbs that she cannot grow herself.

Currently, Miya is contemplating the pursuit of draconid history, however she lacks direction on where to start. Her library of family tombs can only be read so many times. So, she is willing to travel should she find a lead.
