Ian stirs from his seat in the window, turning in time to see Solas pouring his tea.

He stares at it, torn between sorrow and relief. It is a blend whose bitter taste he has come to depend on in evenings where nightmares descend upon him like a pack of hungry wolves, but he has not come to love it. He resents it, in fact— it, and the nightmares that necessitate it.

“But—” he protests weakly. “I said we would…”

“Take it,” Solas says, eyes heavy with his own interrupted sleep. “There will be other nights, other dreams.

So with the new Dragon Age coming out next month I not only decided to finally finish my game I've had for a few years on Inquisition but make a scene/tarot card of my Inquisitor, Katriel, cutting her hair off and feeling her feelings after her love interest broke her heart.

Never thought I'd be a Solasmancer but damn that egg just knows how to steal your heart and hit you right in the feels. Definitely can't wait for Veilguard.

Thank you for a answering my question! I saw the default male lavellan inquisitor in a video from a channel called "GameRiot". He made a video showing the character creation and there he shows the default female lavellan and you can see a few default presets for them and the masc lavellan shown there didn't have vallaslin either. (It's around the 25:24 minute mark)

The video also confirmed that it looks like the inquistor can only be male or female (without the option to be non binary).

I always saw solas as bi because to me he falls in love with lavellan spirit not body so when people started saying he was the default romance in veilguard I was curious if they removed the gender restriction for his romance.

So I totally checked it out and am amazed. Male Lavellan’s default appearance is also no vallaslin. Who did that?!?!? I’m so excited for what this can mean.

Since you can’t retroactively make your inquisitor NB, I wonder if this means they’re going to imply an un-solasmanced Lavellan found a way to remove the tattoos without his help..?

If we can’t retroactively make our inquisitor NB, I’ll also assume for now that you cannot retroactively change the inquisitor’s gender if they romanced someone that has a gender preference. It makes sense since the characters hace their own identity separate the inquisitor. Like it’d be kinda fucked up to make a romanced!Sera’s inky a man since she’s openly a lesbian, which is rare for any piece of media let alone a videogame. It would stand to reason the same would go for the heterosexual romance options.

It would be kinda sweet for an un-romanced Solas to see a Lavellan without the tats and be a lil jealous that he wasn’t the one to remove them. Or he could just be glad the inquisitor was able to see their gods for what they are, or smug that the murals and propaganda from Trespasser that he created to spark a rebellion thousands of years ago work on the people, or his favorite person, of modern day Thedas.

I’m so excited to actually get my hands on this game, I’m gonna explode. I am a total nerd when it comes to the elven lore of this series, and how it affects different aspects of the Dragon Age Setting. Ever since I first played the Solas romance, and heard his true explanation of the vallaslin, I’ve wanted to see that information reach more people than a romanced Inquisitor Lavellan. Looks like this may be a sign of exactly that. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I truly appreciate it!!

Seeing my Lavellan and Trevelyan inkies in datv is like seeing someone you haven’t seen in years. Welcome back, Avourel Lavellan and Rinan Trevelyan.

I have some art ideas.. hm..

I need Rinan to at LEAST mention Bull during this second play-through. I loved seeing Dorian’s letter to a romanced inky and thought it was so sweet. 🥲

A little saddening to see the human tattoo’s inkies had in da:i go so I gotta compromise for Rinan, but also.. instead of being upset about it, what if I just make it canon that he got different facial tattoos after he and Bull got married…?

I’m also going to be honest and say with having beaten the game once, I don’t really.. care a whole lot for Neve… SUPER COOL CHARACTER!!! Her design and everything is amazing and I love it. Just not my type or anything. I thought her and Lucanis getting together was really sweet though. Same with Emmrich and Strife.

I’m romancing Davrin with Meraad this time and so far, I’m loving his romance. I loved Taash’s story solely because I relate so heavily on the “came out as trans/non-binary and had an argument with my mom. Before I could apologize for said fight, she died” arc. (Rudy lore dropped) But that’s just me. I loved how blunt they were with certain aspects and treated Spite like a misbehaving child. I also just really love Taash as a whole.

On the same note with Neve, I’m trying so hard to enjoy more of Harding. She’s such a cutie patootie in this game but once again, not my type and I don’t want to seem mean… Like I enjoyed her presence in da:i, but that’s pretty much it. I never flirted with her once out of my like… 6-7 play-throughs of that game.

I also do not care for Solas in the slightest. Cool story. That’s all I have to say for that egg. I didn’t like him much in da:i, I cannot say I like him any better in datv. And the heavy favoritism for solavellan??? I tried doing a solavellan run in da:i and couldn’t. Guys don’t kill me PLEASE.

But on a whole other note, I thoroughly enjoyed this game. The combat and scenery are amazing. I will say that the animation to pet Assan looks a little stiff but it’s alright. Might post more about my thoughts on Davrin’s romance.. hm.. We’ll see.

Finn Aldwir - he/him, elven Veil Jumper, son of Inquisitor Roisin Lavellan. He's skittish around people, after what happened in Inquisition, he doesn't trust easily. Very touch starved.

Senna Thorn - she/her elven Grey Warden, takes no bullshit, will drop kick you off a cliff if you talk shit about her adopted sons (Assan and Manfred)

Odette Ingellvar - she/her human Mourn Watcher. The oldest of all my Rooks, she's 36. The Mom of the group for sure but will decimate her enemies with fire and lightning.

Mariposa de Riva - she/her human Antivan Crow. She doesn't like to let people in easily, but loves animals. A bit prickly but is a very caring person once you get close to her

Cal Mercar - he/him dwarven Shadow Dragon. Cal is a surfaced dwarf but his parents are from Kal Sharok. He's a no nonsense guy and prefers speaking plainly rather than in riddles. Got a bit of a temper on him.

Vat'Asala - they/them qunari Lord of Fortune. My non binary qunari warrior. The soul of a poet but the mouth of a sailor. Prefers to go by Asala than their whole name. They don't have much of a temper, it takes a lot to set it off.
