Do you think color would take a while to get used to changes? Either a big or small one

Yes, I do. Not only because he’s Autistic, already struggling with change and needing routine and structure since he was young, but because of the Void. He spent the better half of two decades of his life in the Void, able to do very little. The only changes came from Color, Gaster, and from within themselves.

In this type of understimulating, predictable environment, you get used to it—it’s literally just your way of life now—and it’s extremely hard to adjust to anything else outside of it; which is why i think Color started developing routines and habits in the Void that still stick with him in his new life.

That being said, however, I think it’s also precisely because of the Void that Color can’t stand anything being the same for too long anymore. He can’t stand the mind breaking boredom, the same things every day, nothing ever changing at all. The quiet and the predictability.

He can’t stand staying in one spot or area for too long, even if that’s what he often finds himself doing when he needs comfort or something familiar in a world that isn’t familiar to him anymore. Inevitably, however, he will want to move away from this spot or area the second it starts reminding him too much of his time in the Void; getting paranoid, restless and irritated.

Which is why he travels around a lot, moving from AU to AU. One of the many reasons why he probably can’t hold down a steady, full time job either. He’s definitely still a nomad, still full of wanderlust—not wanting to miss out and not appreciate what he’s been given the chance to have again.

But he still needs something familiar amongst all the new and change—he still needs a structure, a routine, of sorts. Probably something he does the exact same way every single time before he gets ready to move somewhere else—even if as simple as always packing his bags in a certain order. Or always calling Delta and Epic at a certain time of the day.

You seem to know a lot about atla and what has been confirmed and fan theories and stuff! We know that flying bison shed quite a bit, but do you know if there's anything out there (canon, fanon, anything) about air nomad textiles from flying bison fur?

I'm pretty sure it's canon that airnomads use sky bison fur for their clothing, especially since it can get quite cold up on the mountains and the smallest benders can't quite control their own body temperature yet. They probably also sold garb made from bison fur on their travels. In Sozin and Roku's time a lot of fire nation nobles got very involved in the airnomad lifestyle and culture (which fuelled Sozin's hatred for the airnomads and ultimately resulted in his decision to commit genocide), i imagine they bought a bunch of fabrics and garments to really immerse themselves. I'm sure citizens from other nations that lived near the temples would often trade for bison fur fabric. I don't know if maybe there were specific breeds of bison, one with a more streamlined coat and one with a more woolly coat? Maybe they could have created wool out of it who knows!

One thing i do think is that bison fur is always harvested without harming the sky bison, probably an influx in bison clothing after spring, when they shed their winter coats. I don't see the airbenders slaughtering the bison for their materials, especially since they don't eat meat.

I just realized that Shadow is now a poor homeless little blorbo, a complete lonewolf wanderer on Earth. 🥺 I mean it would be a blast if he joined Sonic's found family but I don't think he would, due to self doubt or wanting to be left alone, or to avoid being seen by the GUN, or finding that family's happiness too much to be true or too goofy and colorful to match his dark emo vibes. Maybe it's the thought of losing family that makes him avoid having one ever again. He would more likely prefer being assumed dead. So I don't think he would bother to visit Sonic only to announce his survival, either. (Unless the visit is for something else.) Of course, Sonic and the gang would probably try to find him and offer/push him to live with them and open up like how they did with Knuckles, if they knew he's alive. But the possibility of Shadow finding out Sonic's alive is higher, since he might or might not catch it on the news or by checking them out quickly from afar or something, while Sonic and fam are completely sure Shadow is gone.

Shadow would naturally find the most familiar place, but with the lab cave gone...? the closest guess is going to Stone's as the only familar person left?

Or it might be just that, the next movie events starts happening almost immediately right after the 3rd movie so there would be really no time for Shadow to settle down for a home/base at all. Anyway I hope they don't casually find him living under a bridge like a hobo holding a Mean Bean coffee cup. 😅

oh holy bananapants I'm so honored??? Ever since I've started working on this story, besides the "heeheehoohoo yay indigenous ppl are so fuckin cool" dopamine injection, I've also been nervous thinking about "hey but what if I fuckup an aspect somehow without realizing it". It's a tricky trail to tread, so getting direct validation from a tibetan is as heartening as you think it is *screams into paper bag*

Researching your culture is super fun! I could look at pictures of different kinds of braids and clothing all day... and reading about all the tribes and their respective regions. (this article on hair is one of my favs)

On to the scar lore:

Chime gets her scar in an accident. She and one of her dads were on the run & taking cover from the war (same one that causes the nuclear winter). During all the chaos, they get cut off from each other by stray debris flung from the war zone. She tumbles down a tiny cliff and scrapes her cheek pretty bad. It is healed into a scar after she's rescued to a monastery.

(It would be cool if she gets it from a battle though... alas my girl is a baby teen at the time and only receives martial arts training after becoming a nun)

She also has a smaller, more subtle scar besides the one on her cheek. It's a cut through her left brow, which she's had since childhood.

that's pretty much the scar lore i have to offer at this time.

btw If you're comfortable in doing so, please poke me hard (read: send another ask or DM if you're up for it) when you spot anything and all things tibetan that's inaccurate! I try to get things right as much as possible, but I do get most of my info from online articles, movies, books, and videos by tibetan youtubers. I am but a taiwanese suburban kid that hasn't yet met a tibetan person physically + have a conversation with them, despite my efforts lol

mistakes are prone to happen, and I thirst for authentic lore as much as knowledge :)c

Jericho is with the medics most of the time, helping take care of patients and supporting Marla (who has more med knowledge)

Benji is a scavenger since he's good at sneaking around and can pick locks to find better supplies

Hunter is Benjis's partner for scav missions because he's more combat adept and keeps our boi safe

Vic and Sahota would be part of a raider group who come along to stir things up and ruin lives

Reading the whole Impossible Nomad was an incredible experience so far. The best part is that I can't even describe what's so lovable about it. Honestly, it just makes me *feel* more than any piece of literature & media I've ever encountered. The writing is amazing.

I adore how there are aspects that aren't (or can't possibly be) explained. How the reader can't really pick out a logical explanation of anything, but that's the beauty of it. How the explanation is there's no explanation. This whole story altered my brain in a way, which I'm so grateful for. Texts like these make reading fun for me again.

I love the passport to get into the elevator. It could just be an ID thing because passports are well received forms of ID but I’m intrigued by the idea of a country that is a different country when you ↑ go up

That made me think of the movie "Upside Down" where you have two worlds that are parallel to each other, but gravity pulls them in opposite directions. So you have the "Up" world, which is the richer society world, and the "Down" world, which is the poorer society world. Maybe the elevator would allow you to switch to the opposite world.

You watched in distaste, the movie in front of you portraying you're kind in a weird way, Kangsu seemed to enjoy it as he doubled over in laughter at one of the many horrible jokes the main character tried to make. "No?" He asked looking over at you seeing you're bored and rather annoyed expression, sighing you shook you're head "just don't like it" you said, taking a minute to poke you're fangs with you're tongue.

He smiled trying to cheer you up, "yeah? Maybe you're just jealous" he chuckled wrapping his arms around you're waist, he never commented on how cold you were, assuming you just didn't have good blood flow. "Jealous?" You giggled allowing him to pull you towards himself, he nodded "yeah, you wish you could be a vampire huh?" He joked poking at you're stomach making you wiggle, "as if!" You laughed making Kangsu follow along.

An hour or so passed when he spoke up once again the movie coming to an end, "what would you do if they were real?" He asked playing with you're hand, the topic made you uncomfortable. You weren't exactly ready to tell him the truth but you knew you had too, "better yet, how would you react?" You asked trying to turn the question around on him, he took a second to think "I think....id be scared at first...like if you were one...id be scared, but we've been together for long enough I know you wouldn't hurt me I think-" he said chuckling a little at the end.

His answer was to be expected, any normal person would be scared of you if they knew, even tho it broke you're heart hearing it from him, playing it off you nodded giggling "understandable" was the last word spoken on it. As time went on you couldn't help but feel guilty for hiding such a huge part of yourself from Kangsu, you knew you needed to tell him, each day you're relationship with him got more and more serious, sighing you spoke up deciding to do it before you could chicken out. "Su?" You asked looking over towards him, he was working on his college work, peeking up at you.

"Hm?" He asked pushing up his glasses delicately, "I have something to tell you" you spoke out, he could hear your voice shaking it made him nervous, setting his pen down he quickly got up making his way to you, wrapping his arms around you he tried to provide some comfort, you could feel you're non-existent heart beating out of you're chest, "take you're time" he said softly, he has commented on the lack of beating or movement in you're chest, with you giving some bullshit excuse trying to cover the truth.

"um....don't hate me ok?" You asked pulling back a little, holding out you're pinky. Kangsu smiled at the childish act, nodding he locked his pinky with yours "Promise." Taking a deep breath you quickly spoke "I'm actually a vampire" you said wincing at the end, peeking you're eye open when no reaction happened, Kangsu's eyes were wide before he doubled over in laughter, "what's so funny?" You asked less nervous but disappointed he didn't believe you "you're so silly" he laughed hugging you again.

"Kangsu! I'm being serious here" you huffed flicking his forehead, he quickly stopped laughing to wince rubbing the area, "prove it then" he challenged you chuckling softly. Sighing you rolled you're eyes, you couldn't turn into a bat, nor did garlic work as repellent, all of that was fictional. Thinking for a minute you smirked, finding factual proof, "give me you're wrist" you spoke holding you're hand out, he rolled his eyes playfully allowing you to pull it up.

Taking a deep breath you needed to control yourself and not get carried away, with a long sniff you took a second before plunging you're teeth into his wrist making him wince, after a few small sips you pulled back, showing him the blood on you're mouth and the two small fang bites on his wrist, his eyes widened. You could hear his heartbeat pick up and the sped up blood flow going through him.

He was terrified, it took a long long while for everything to go back to normal, as the fear faded he laughed making you show him all the cool vampiric stuff you could do.
