Note
I've always had the idea that some sort of animal has tried to eat Dongrang's hair at least once. It blends in with grass.
They mentioned the cow incident with Yi Sang but taking in count they used to be around farm animals all the time perhaps Dongrang was the one usually subjected to it. Ironically, he first started curing animals trying to find ways to be spared of their gluttony

Happy New Year! Here's everything I watched and read in 2023
And also some misc. thoughts on the things that made an especially good, bad, or striking impression. If the thing is in purple, it was a rewatch! books are all rated out of five because there was a reasonable number of them. top five from each category are in the bottom for funsies.
*not including podcasts/dropout content. I'm up to date on make some noise, gamechanger, wbn, and d20 (mostly). I also watched the emily axford guest episodes and chapter 2 of candela obscura on CR
Movies
The Menu
Glass Onion
Romeo and Juliet (1996) (this is one of my fav movies of all time, I'll never get sick of it. just gorgeous top to bottom)
Rosaline (I went into this knowing I wouldn't like it and came out thinking it was just alright. lead actress is good, but I hate derivative Shakespeare works that don't understand the original story)
Hamilton
Tangled
Secret World of Arrietty
Honor Among Thieves (just a damn good movie, love the practical effects)
Mamma Mia!
Barbie and the Three Musketeers
The Three Musketeers (1993)
Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse
The Last Unicorn (rewatched this for the first time in at least a decade, what a gorgeous vibey fantasy film. something about the dark scenery and tone really sticks with me)
Nimona (thought Ballister was a great character and enjoyed the design choices for the world, a good piece of Knight (tm) media. however, I thought the animation was lacking and didn't think it deserved a best picture nom like a lot of people did. it was cute, not lifechanging)
The Green Knight (watch it)
80 for Brady (a request from my mom, surprisingly funny)
The Visit
Sweet Home Alabama (bad)
Barbie!
Sharkboy and Lavagirl
Pride and Prejudice 2005 (another one of my all time favs)
Sleeping Beauty
The Aristocats
La La Land
Red White and Royal Blue
The Princess and the Pauper
Barbie and the Three Musketeers (again)
Howl's Moving Castle
Girl Vs. Monster
10 Things I Hate About You
500 Days of Summer (made me cry, which I didn't expect. can you tell I had a joseph gordon levitt moment lol)
Get Out
Twilight
The Conjuring (I watch this every year, one of my fav horror movies)
Scooby Doo: The Witches Ghost
Kiki's Delivery Service
Barbie and the Twelve Dancing Princesses
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
Love, Actually
Honor Among Thieves (again, but with my DnD party)
The Holiday (I mean. it's Jude Law)
The Boy and the Heron (holy fucking shit this was so good)
Asteroid City
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
In The Tall Grass
Books
Harrow the Ninth by Tamryn Muir: good! I fucking struggled at the beginning getting through but it paid off. (3.5/5)
The Falls by Joyce Carol Oates: a fun gothic romance/tragedy set in Niagra Falls which took an environmentalist angle I was not expecting at all. Picked it up at a Goodwill and enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. (4/5)
A Game of Thrones by GRRM: I mean, it's a classic. The way the plot unfolds at the end really is incredible, but from the first chapter it grips you. (4/5)
The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas: HOLY SHIT if you read one book because of me let it be this one, it is criminally underrated for how well known it is. It is thee action-adventure novel of all time, hysterically funny and easy to read. (5/5)
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern: I took a little dip into YA to bring some autumn vibes to my summer internship. Plot was bad, vibes came through. (2.5/5)
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte: fucking slaps!! anyone who thinks it isn't romantic is dead wrong, I found it much more engaging than Jane Eyre, the other Bronte novel I've read. (4.5/5)
Just Above My Head by James Baldwin: a gripping account of two black families before and during the civil rights movement, of which one son becomes a famous gospel singer. Julia, one of the daughters and a child evangelist, stuck with me long after I finished it (5/5)
Nona the Ninth by Tamryn Muir: enjoyed it more than HTN, Nona asking about her birthday present made me cry, as did Campal :( (4.5/5)
That Summer In Paris by Morley Callaghan: put me in a massive reading slump over a silly little Goodwill read, never have I been less entertained by what was essentially a book of entirely gossip about 1920s writers. (2/5)
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins: read it immediately after ABOSAS, holds up in its entirety, particularly in the environmental descriptions (4/5)
A Clash of Kings by GRRM: I've already posted about this a ton but holy shit, it's slow getting there but the payoff is incredible. really excited to keep reading bc George absolutely sold me on this web of political and personal relationships. (4.5/5)
A Place Bewitched and Other Stories by Nikolai Gogol: the cap for the year, bleak Russian short stories about weird little tales. would hit harder during fall. (3/5)
Shows
The Last of Us (as good as people said it was. sold me on zombie media as someone who does not like zombie media)
TLOVM S2
You S4 (a decent ending, parts with Love Quinn were the best lolol)
Succession S4
Shadow and Bone S2
Partner Track (CUTE. wish netflix didn't cancel it)
Marvelous Mrs Maisel S5 (a letdown tbh)
Game of Thrones S1
BBC Musketeers (I had a big three musketeers phase this year; this was my fav adaptation I watched. a lot of heart and a lot of silly, I am very biased about it)
BC Strike
Bridgerton - Queen Charlotte (I watched this in French, had a miserable time)
The Terror
The Bear (twice)
The Summer I Turned Pretty S2 (steven and taylor!!!!!)
Legends of Tomorrow S1-5 (rewatching with Roommate)
Yellowjackets S1
Over The Garden Wall (I watch this every autumn)
Gilmore Girls, Seinfeld (continuously)
The X Files S1-2
Blue Eye Samurai (shockingly blunt and visceral in everything from it's depiction of racism to fully committing to animating a boner).
Unfinished: Fionna and Cake, the Fall of the House of Usher. we're working on it.
Top Five Movies (no rewatches):
5. 500 Days of Summer
4. Get Out
3. The Green Knight
2. La La Land
The Boy and The Heron
Top Five Books:
5. Wuthering Heights
4. Nona the Ninth
3. A Clash of Kings
2. Just Above My Head
The Three Musketeers
Top Five Shows:
5. The Last of Us
4. Yellowjackets
3. BBC's The Musketeers
2. Blue Eye Samurai
The X Files
If you made it this far send me an ask telling me what ur favs were this year or thoughts you have on mine :)

Alors Jeanne pleura.
— Jeannette, ayez confiance en moi, dit Nicolas. On m’a ordonné clerc quand j’étais enfant.

It took a little time but here are answers! I'm glad you asked ^^ I had a lot of fun answering all the questions! No need to be shy, I'll answer pretty much everything so you can keep those questions rolling~ 😎 Thank you for the wonderful questions! My answers are under the cut ^^
You mentioned that his hair is long, so I'm curious up to what length does it go? (a little bit below his knees? maybe it reaches the floor? he did knocks down things if it's not tied up) And also what's his height? (trying to imagine it dkhdskhsjs) Then does he have any difficulty managing his hair, like having a routine for it?
Drosy wished he had hair that went to the floor… But his hair length seems to cap around mid thigh length! It’s much longer than others, he knows but floor length would be so cool (which, as I now realize, depending on Squalo’s height could make Drosy’s hair longer than Squalo’s–). He takes fairly good care of his hair, not daily though because that would take forever. Instead, he has designated “hair days” about twice a month where the entire day is dedicated to washing, combing, conditioning, and drying. He does have day-to-day ‘habits’ but those are the basic stuff like brushing his hair.
He is a magnanimous height of 5 feet and 10 inches (or 177.8 cm)! He really wants does extra two inches to get to 6 feet but its been years and he’s given up on the idea that another growth spurt is just around the corner for him D:
Though he's technically flameless, he can still activate it when in a pinch. If that does happen, what kind of flame does he have?
A smile, despite the situation, barely managed to wriggle itself onto his face. The reckless, familiar thrum of his flames rushed through him, tinting his eyes ever greener.
He is a Lightning Flame!
Any details on what exactly happened, during the first time he activated his flames? I guess it's gotta be a very very dangerous situation.
It clung to the ground, viscous, deep, and dark. Seeping off the sidewalk, tainting the green grass red. The head of his classmate lolled just a few centimeters away from their body, their eyes still wide with shook. Alexandros took a careful step forward, his sneakers squishing into the body of his friend. The black classy loafers of the murder in front of him gleamed as if polished by the blood. She towered over him, gun loosely held in hand. Her cruel eyes bent into a sneer, “You should’ve taken a little more time to get to your playdate, little boy.”
The full story goes a little like this: The Tomaso family has always been a unstable in terms of succession, the result usually being that whoever survived long enough to even have a succession ceremony was probably the last one standing. Alexandros had accidentally friended a potential heir of the Tomaso family when they were in grade school; however, they didn’t last long (as you can probably guess from my little excerpt above…). Alexandros stumbled onto the scene… and was supposed to be the next target. He almost was. That’s when the current Tomaso family (Longchamp) and their allies in this succession fight made valiant efforts to take down the assassin, leaving Drosy still dying. At the final moment, he unblocked his flames which stabilized him until he could get actual attention.
Where did he get the alias L. Blossom from? (how did he come up with it?)
Drosy is a big plant guy! He loves ‘em! When he chose the alias L. Blossom, he was referring to the plant Lemon Blossom. Partly for its motif as white for innocence, purity, but mostly for its double meaning for misery and bitterness. He thought it would fit the mysterious informant vibe. And… he kind of likes lemon candies. Sour then sweet! Nom!
When you say that he's 12 at the beginning, does that mean when KHR canon story beginning? He would be so cute as a kid hahaha 😆😆😆 (lowkey curious what he looks like)
Yes, I meant that Drosy is 12 at the beginning of the KHR canon story timeline ^^ He’s a really cute kid! Big eyes, short hair (he didn't start growing it out until he was 15!) Every day he found a new way to get lost or in trouble, mostly for silly stuff! There’s a little muscle on him, but not too noticeable ^^
🔥New Khr OC Questions🔥
💞Anyone welcome to participate! 💞
People really enjoyed themselves with the last list of questions I made! So I made an even bigger one!! So much so, I don't really expect anyone to answer all these questions. Just pick and choose whatever you want to answer if it's too much lmao
‼️This is not just for OCs! If you feels you've modified one of the canon characters so much that they're a whole different person now, tell me about them as well please!‼️
I will also tag a bunch of people whomst OCs I really enjoyed and remembered from the last list of questions! There will be some repeat questions here, so you can elaborate if you wanna or just skip those lmao
Tags under the Cut cause I will also give a lil commentary on the OCs I know so far. :3
‼️Also these Questions are mostly spoiler free so don't worry! Only one question asks about something that's introduced after the Varia Arc I think. I put a 🌸 next to that one.‼️
@juudaimes-true-form Amara & Ricardo were both very fun and I like knowing about them! But l Alexandros is a very good vibe I wanna know the him uwu
@einsatzzz Kana, Kurumi & Yui are Hella intriguing! Do pls elaborate on all of them! Particularly Yui has spiked my interest! Did you finish that art of him you were working on?
@heryemily5927 Hanabi is adorable please tell me more if you feel up to it! :D
@kiralushia Nozomi & Cloud! I would like to see both of them for this! But I also wanna know more about Arashi because she gets mentioned often too :3
@acedragontrainer Ayane & Yuki may have been randomly created but they are so gawddang fun! Please give them backstories with the questions here. If you wanna of course ^^
@masterdisastre Xavier is babiest Boi, but what about Dani!? And also pls tell me of any other OC you wanna talk about!! I'll treasure each and every single one of them! :D
@cloudspark You reblogged the old Questions once wondering if you'll find the time and motivation to introduce your OC, so I will tag you here too since there are more questions here. :3
@ciaossn Amalia is best lady pls tell me more even if her true origin story has been tragically lost ;w; I wish to know her as much as possible!
The Basics:
What's their name? Their pronouns? Sexuality? Gender Identity? Their Age and Ethnicity?
What do they look like? Body type? Identifying characteristic? Art or picrew of your oc? (No AI art pls.)
Why did you create this character? Just for fun? Or is there a purpose behind them? Maybe a canon character you created them for? As a friend, love interest, sibling, child, parent, rival, nemesis?
What's the family situation of your OC? If they have family, how about a brief summary of the relationships of their family to the canon characters?
What are their other notable relationships to Canon characters? (Example: Hibari's little brother also happens to be Tsuna's childhood best friend and Gokudera's love interest) If there are none right now, are there any plans for relationships in the future?
Does your Oc have disabilities? Mental illnesses, neurodivergencies, missing limbs, chronic pains, physical limitations, some kind of food sensitivity? Anything that affects their day to day life goes!
Combat Questions:
What are your OC's flames, if they have any? And how do they use their flames? Do they ever use them outside combat?
How do they prefer to fight? Do they know how to fight in a way they dislike or hate? (Example: Hibari prefers hand-to-hand combat and dislikes firearms, but he knows how to shoot someone if he has no choice)
Do they have formal training? How many fighting styles do they know? What weapons can they wield?
What are their strengths? Their weaknesses?
🌸Do they have a flame weapon, or a box weapon/animal? How did they get these weapons? What level ring (best S>A>B>C>D>worst E) do they wield? Can they use their ring efficiently? If no, why not?🌸
Oh no! Your OC is unable to fight! (Too tired, injured, whatever) How do they deal with the enemy now? Do they flee, still try to fight, call for backup, or what do they do?
Philosophical Questions:
Answer this first before reading/thinking further! Would your OC change anything about themselves if they could?
What's their favourite colours? Their favourite season? Their favourite weather? Their favourite animal?
What are their hobbies? What are they passionate about? Is there a passion they had to give up? If so, why?
What kind of people do they dislike? Do they like who they themselves are?
What is their biggest secret? What's the biggest/worst lie they ever told? What lie do they frequently tell themselves?
What's their darkest desire? What's their biggest hope for the future? If they had the money, how would they want to change the world they live in?
If the world ended tomorrow, how would they spend their last day on earth? Who would they want to be with? Their worst fear stands between them and saving the world, would they be able to overcome that fear to save the world?
What would be their civilain dream job? If they had to kill someone innocent to save a friend, would they be able to do it? How long would their choice haunt them? Would they be able to face their friend if they decided to sacrifice them, but things ended up working out?
Your OCs biggest, wildest dreams all just came true! What do they do next? Who do they celebrate with? How do they celebrate? Loud exhilaration or quiet disbelief?
After these questions, I ask again, what would your OC change about themselves if they could? Did the answer change?
Khr Character Questions! [Or 'I am putting the OCs in ✨situations✨']
Vongola:
Sawada Tsunayoshi burst into flames, flew into the sky and took out a missile that was headed towards the area your Oc was in. How do they go about interacting with Tsuna after that?
Gokudera Hayato dragged your OC to an empty classroom to investigate ghosts, but it turns out it was just teenagers. Hayato seems genuinely disheartened, does your Oc want to comfort him?
Sasagawa Ryohei just pulled your Oc away from oncoming traffic! He proceeds to ask them to join the boxing club! How do they go about rejecting him, given that he just saved their life?
Bovino Lambo just send your Oc ten years into the future! What situation did your Oc end up in? What's their reaction to this future?
Yamamoto Takeshi is sitting by himself, holding a baseball and looking oddly melancholic. Your OC does not know what is going on, except that usually Takeshi is a cheerful guy. Do they approach him? What do they say?
Hibari Kyoya comes across your Oc with a bleeding wound at his side. He is most obviously unwell, but also pissed, how does your Oc approach this situation?
Chrome Dokuro knows what your Oc did and it feels like she is judging them for their dirty secrets. How does your Oc try to buy her silence?
Rokudo Mukuro wandered into the dream your Oc had last night! Does he leave with even more trauma, creepily amused, weirdly charmed or thoroughly bored?
Fuuta DeLa Stella fianlly ranked your Oc first in something! What category did he rank them first in? What is your OC's reaction?
I-pin just blew up and then landed gently in the arms of your Oc. How do they react to this literal pipe bomb baby?
Sasagawa Kyoko handed your Oc Valentine's friendship chocolates and thanked them for looking after her brother! This might be a misunderstanding, but these are also the only/first chocolates your Oc was given, so what do they tell her?
Miura Haru made your Oc their dream outfit! But something significant about it is wrong, how does your Oc give critique on that?
Kurokawa Hana just called your Oc a monkey to their face. How ready, if at all, are they to throw hands with this civilain middle/high-school girl?
Arcobaleno:
Fon wants to share spicy curry with your Oc, but the spoon is glowing red hot. Does your Oc risk it?
Reborn shot someone infront of your Oc. Tsuna won't believe them. What will they do now?
Verde wants to study your Oc so he asks if they'd volunteer for science. No money is involved but they do get to hang out with Verde, do they take the offer?
Lal Mirch has taken over the CEDEF and there is a party that your OC somehow ended up invited to! Do they bring Lal a gift? If so, what kinda gift?
Colonnello got drunk from sipping some wine, he is sad, melancholic and heavily armed. How does your Oc handle the situation?
Skull thinks you're really cute and creative! He wants to know how you came up with your Oc? And your favourite scene of your Oc!
Viper just gave your OC a slice of pizza. Will they eat it? Are they aware of the risks? Are there risks?
Varia:
Xanxus meets your Oc at a bar and tells them to get him a drink. What does your Oc do? If they make an order, what would they order for Xanxus?
Belphegor is staring at your OC from a distance and chuckling maniacally. What wardrobe malfunction did he notice on your OC?
Lussuria slings his feather scarf around your Oc and tells them they're a cutie. How does your Oc respond to the sudden flirting and closeness? Do they know Lussuria is powerful as well as queer?
Levi-a-Than just told your Oc that they'd be so pretty if they put a bit more effort into their look. How does your Oc react?
Superbi Squalo yells so loud it's almost bothering your Oc! How do they tell him to quiet down? How long do they last in the every-man-for-himself Varia-style brawl that comes next?
Mammon is wanting to extort your Oc for money. What blackmail material does Mammon have to do so? (What is an embarrassing thing your Oc did that Mammon could reasonably find out about?)
Fran is getting on your OC's nerves, constantly and seemingly very much on purpose. Everyone else is already using that boy as target practice, so does your Oc join in?
Others:
Dino Cavallone compares your OC to Tsuna. Is your Oc insulted by the comparison? What if it was accurate?
Dino's right hand man Romario invites your character out for a drink! What drink do they order to impress, intimidate, or endear themselves to the Cavallone Familia? Or do they reject the invite entirely?
Hibari's right hand man Kusakabe Tetsuya thinks your Oc is too noisy and tells them to shut up if they don't want to get bitten to death. Does your Oc take that as a challenge? Hibari Kyoya does not seem to be nearby in the first place... (He is watching from a nearby roof)
Something got past the safety on your OC's garbage cans and made a massive mess! Ken stands as the main, but not the only suspect. Does your Oc make that accusation? Do they worry they would offend Ken for accusing him of that, just for having more animalistic behaviours?
Chikusa's yoyo just flipped off it's string and bonked your Oc on the head. He acts apologetic, but your Oc has a feeling he did that on purpose. How does your Oc proceed?
The Last Question!!
Please gimme links as to where people can find stories or art about your OCs!
Thank you for reading and answering if you do! :D

Favorite Stims of all the boys (including Ravio because I am legally required)
Four - this bastard is a blacksmith, bang bang bang, big noises and heat and feel. Smithy is heaven.
Hyrule - flappy hands and spins, it makes the world go fast and he has so much nervous energy, he needs something really active to get the energy out.
Legend - he seems the sort to pick at his skin and hair, usually not enough to cause damage. At one point, he got a painting set and just paints his skin, it's nice. When texture gets too much, he thunks the brushes together. this is just Caesar's excuse to broadcast that paintbrushes are the best stim tool ever, you can even put them in your mouth
Sky - hot take but Sky is a primarily visual stimmer, watching clouds and birds move about, it's so nice, he's like a cat watching fish in a pond. He will sit in the grass and watch a bug, he'll pick it up and just stare as it walks along his hand.
Time - this boy be verbal bastard, can and will just start tutting out a tune or a random noise because mmmmmmmm brain go brrrr. if he ever goes nonverbal, the best people are going to get is a tune he sings on repeat. Also nomming on his wedding ring
Twilight - rubs clothes and hair and grass, he's very tactile when it comes to his stims, touch touch touch until it's bad. Smelling stuff is nice too but that is way easier to go overboard with and have his brain get overload. He has the tiniest scrap of cloth that is the Nice Texture and smells of home.
Wars - tugs at his hair and scarf, rubbing it between his fingers. It's usually pretty subtle, he doesn't have to worry as much about getting called out for breaking form of a soldier. Clicks his tongue, taps toes. It's mostly about being as small as possible. The biggest stims he got are counting in military march time, about faces, or thumping his chest (because Proxi)
Wild - my man loves oral stims, will put literally anything in his mouth and chew, it's why he has such a stomach of iron. Has totally not have stuff slapped out of his hand because he was about to put it in his mouth. The master sword has teeth marks on the handle.
Wind - a visual and smell stimmer. If he doesn't know have anything to stim with, he just waves his fingers in front of his face. He'll go into another plane of existence when he starts mindlessly conducting some tune
Ravio - Screaming and running, all the energy, AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. If he ever sits still long enough to though, he loves loves loves brushing people's hair, any hair just touchy touchy touch, all the strands mmmmmm

"Oji-taaaan!" Cue a little Cheka that was nomming on his uncle's ear to get his attention as he was napping. It was one of the many times that he was visiting Leona and wanted to have fun with him! It didn't seem like he was moving though. "I'll nap with you then, oji-tan~." It didn't take him that long time to crawl on him and fall asleep on his uncle's chest.
@firexflower
He heard the footsteps of his nephew long before the boy spoke. Still, he tried to not react, feigning sleep as if that would save him from the little ball of energy. Instead, he gives a grunt as Cheka 'attacks' him, the chomp to his ear finally making him cave and open his eyes to shoot the cub a flat look. It wasn't even painful, but certainly disruptive enough to interrupt his nap time. "Fine, fine, what?," he quips back, but gives no indication of moving from his spot on the grass.
Tumblr media
Cheka seems to pick up on the hint, the cub opting to lay down on him to sleep as well. At least he'd get to take his nap now. But, he'd never agreed to be his little nephew's pillow. Who did the kid think he was, one of his attendants?
Rather than reply, he merely rolls over so he's the one laying on top of Cheka. He doesn't place his full weight on the boy, but just enough to squish him. "Then be a good pillow and stay still," he says between a yawn, already starting to drift off. Luckily for Cheka, he makes for a lumpy pillow and so Leona relents and releases him to simply lay down next to him, crossing his arms under his chin as a makeshift pillow. "Five minutes and then we can get you something to do."

Peter Pan Chapter #3
Trigger Warnings: None actually.
—//—//—
Tumblr media
—//—//—
Peter was awoken to a calloused finger tips gently wiping hair out of his eyes. Only noticing the sound of a car engine when it came fo a stop. He was too tired to open his eyes so he just nuzzles against the shoulder his head was on and curled up as best as he could. Sleep sounded nice, sleep sounded good.
“Come on, baby. I gotta pick you up and take you inside.” Tony’s voice sounded at a whisper as his large hands gently positioned Peter to lean against the seat before shuffling out of the car.
“No!” Peter let out a loud whine, his eyes flashing open as he grabbed tightly onto Tony’s arm.
“Sweetheart, it’s ok. I’m just getting out so I can pick you up.” Tony said reassuringly, picking up Peter’s hand to press a kiss to his knuckles. Peter watched attentively as Tony moved out of the car before leaning back into backseat of the car to softly pick Peter up bridle style, pulling the young man close to his chest.
“Such a sweet boy. Go back to sleep. I’m never leaving your side again.” Tony pressed a kiss to Peter’s forehead as the boy turned to his right, nuzzling his face against his husband’s chest and getting comfortable as he let himself relax.
The rest was blurry. Peter just let himself drift off as he was carried inside. Morgan’s little voice came in and out for a few minute. The was the sounds of footsteps and door locks clicking. The only thing he completely remembers was the soft brush of Tony’s thumb of his lips as he was laid down on the bed and how the bed dipped beside him before a pair of arms wrapped around him and pulled him in close. With his head now nestled against Tony’s chest and his body resting in the protective arms of his lover, he fell asleep.
Peter was thankful that when he woke up he was still snuggled to the handsome king he had for a husband. The boy was laying down with his head resting in Tony’s lap, who was busy typing away on a tablet.
“Mmmm.” Peter hummed our, running his finger tips over his lover’s exposed thighs.
“I dreamt of when you first kissed me. You were very romantic. Especially considering you’d just shot someone infront of me.” Peter looked up at older man who huffed with embarrassment.
“It was either him or me. So I decided him.” Tony countered, putting the tablet on a near by nightstand before pulling Peter into a sitting position in his lap.
“Well I’m glad you decided that. I don’t know why I’m suddenly remembering everything... If I do remember why didn’t I just remember everything instantly.” Peter complained, letting his body lean completely against Tony’s body.
“Actually whilst you were asleep, Bruce came in and explained it. Basically, they walled off your memories and we have to trigger your memories. He said to think of it like a switch board. If we hit the right switch the memory will come back. Like with the ring and you remembering the waves.” Tony explained, running his fingers through Peter’s now soft, bouncy curly hair.
“Oh ok. Wel that makes sen-“ Peter started to say, slowly sitting up to look at Tony when Morgan bursted into their room.
“I WAS PROMISED A WAFFLE PICNIC!!!!” Morgan yelled before running out of the room, her little footsteps drumming through the hall as she ran down the stairs.
“W-What?” Peter said through his giggles, holding his side as he tried not to snort as he adorable child.
“Oh my god. How the hell does she remember that and not how to put her dirty clothes in the wash basket?! Two years ago I promised we would have a waffle picnic when we got you back. The two of you are going to make this house a mess again.” Tony chuckled, scooping Peter up to carry him to the closet before siting the boy down on a lounge within their walk-in-wardrobe. “And I’m going to smile when it happens. I love your mess.” He smiled, leaning down to kiss his baby’s cheek.
“For a mob boss you are a big sap.” Peter teased, making Tony roll his eyes.
“I wasn’t always a sap. I used to be tough until you and your cute little butt seduced me and gave me the idea of having a daughter.” Tony changed into a button down shirt and a pair of comfy shorts, meaning there was no business today. He then turned to Peter, offering clothed to him.
“Uhhh. I might take that shirt and those jeans. Thank you.” Peter choose one of Tony’s comfy t-shirts and a pair of stretchy skinny jeans. Tony helped the boy into his clothes before stepping back to admire his sweet husband. Peter stood there, blushing bright red, as Tony bluntly checked him out. The older man stepping forward to run his thumb over Peter’s exposed collar bone.
“I forgot how good you look in my clothes. If it wasn’t for a waffle picnic I think I could of found that switch for our honeymoon memories.” Tony flirted as he winked at the boy. Making Peter as red as a tomato as he let out a little surprised squeak.
“Oh hush. You aren’t innocent. Now. Let’s go before Morgan steals our kneecaps for taking too long.” Tony scooped Peter up into his arms and carried him downstairs to where Morgan was waiting, vibrating with excitement.
—//—//—
Not that much later the happy family sat on the grass by the river that ran by their house. Little Morgan swinging happily on a tire swing that Tony had made for her with Tessa bouncing around her whilst Peter and Tony sat on a tartan blanket being horribly domestic and cheesy because Tony was feeding Peter pieces of his waffle.
“This tastes really good. I missed waffles so much.” Peter hummed happily as he nommed on the piece of syrup drenched waffle in his mouth. Tony just looked at him with a sad puppy look.
“I’m ok, bab. I’m here now and you can give me all the waffles you want.” Peter smiled, cuddling up to Tony’s chest. They were trying to make up for all the lost time with all the soft touches and cuddles.
—//—//—
A few minutes passed and Morgan was back on the blanket munching on waffles as they all flicked through the photo album that Morgan and Tony had made for Peter, Tessa was now laying down and sunbathing in the grass.
“Tessa looks so big now.” Peter said a little upset as he looked between the puppy on the Polaroid and the dog laying beside them.
“I’ve missed so much.” His voice quivered as he clutched the book. The album was full of what he had missed. Things like Morgan’s first day at school, her birthdays, Tony’s birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, funerals. But the thing that hurt the most was that he missed the little things like icecream for dinner, pizza parties, little trips into town with his daughter, cuddles with his husband whilst they watched a movie. Two years of his life were gone and he could never get them back.
“Hey, Peter. Sweetheart, it’s ok. Shhh. It’s ok. I got you.” Tony cooed to him, gently wiping tears from Peter’s eyes. He didn’t even realise he was crying until Tony’s hands were on his face. The young man just jumped into Tony’s lap, hiding his face in Tony’s shoulder and letting himself just sob in the comfort of his husband’s arms.
“Papa?” Morgan said softly, scared for her dad. Even Tessa had gotten up and made her way over to the family, gently muzzling at Peter’s thigh.
“It’s ok honey. Papa’s been away a long time and he’s just upset. It’ll be ok. Oh oh Natasha! Can you play with Morgan for a bit?” Tony was trying to explain to his daughter as Natasha walked down from the driveway. Nodding to Tony before taking Morgan’s hands.
“Why don’t you show me that fairy garden you were talking about yesterday?” Natasha suggested.
“Oh. Yeah ok. Bye Papa. I love you.” Morgan said nervously before leading Natasha off. Tony sat silently, just rubbing Peter’s back and letting him cry. The sobs lasted for a whole hour before Peter let out his final sniffle, hiccuping as he pulled away from Tony slightly. Opening his mouth to speak but he was interrupted.
“No saying sorry. You are allowed to cry, honey. You’ve been through a lot. Do you want have a little nap? I know you get tired.” Tony offered before Peter could go into a spiel about how he was sorry, it seemed to settle the boy.
“Yeah. Can I say out here? It’s warm.” Peter asked quietly, his throat hoarse and sore.
“Of course baby.” Tony slowly laid down, letting Peter resting his head on his chest. He waited until the boy had gotten himself comfy before he ran his fingers through his brunette curls. Part of Peter getting comfortable was sneaky his hand under Tony’s shirt to rest on his waist, holding softly as though he was afraid Tony would leave if he wasn’t holding on to him. Slowly Peter fell asleep in the sun, soaking in the warmth from the sun and from his husband. He was safe, finally.

Horror story 👻
Creepy Things Kids Say
Creepy things kids say to their parents. An internet forum posed a question: “What is the creepiest thing your child has ever said to you?” The responses were scary, spooky, disturbing and chilling:
A friend of mine’s child told him, “Daddy, I love you so much that I want to cut your head off and carry it around so I can see your face whenever I want.”
My 3-year old daughter was standing over her newborn baby brother, looking at him. Then, she turned to me and said, “Daddy, it’s a monster… We should bury it.”
My cousin used to freak he mom out as a child. Whenever her mom would ask her why she did something mean or wrong she would whisper, “The devil told me to do it!”
I was babysitting for a little girl and she asked where I had parked my car. I pointed out the window to my car across the street. She looked at me and said, “Go to it without looking both ways.” I asked her why and she replied, “I want to see someone die.”
One night, I was tucking in my 2-year old son. He said “Goodbye, Dad.” I corrected him, “No, we say goodnight.” He replied, “I know… But this time it’s goodbye…” I had to come back and check on him a few times during the night to make sure he was still there.
My 3-year old son was cuddling with his grandmother. He took her face in his hands, and stared straight into her eyes and said, “You’re very old and you will die soon.” Then he made a point of looking at the clock.
My little girl went through a phase where she would just constantly say ‘Hi’ to things. “Hi hi hi hi hi hi” One day, it sound sounded strange, so I asked her, “What’s that you’re saying?” She turned to face me and just whispered “Die die die die die diiiieeeeeee…….”
My niece was sleeping over at my parents’ house one night. She had all the lights on in the spare bedroom. I asked her if she was afraid of the dark, and she said, “No. I am afraid of what is in the dark.”
My 5-year old daughter said, “Mommy, when you die I want to put you in a glass jar so I can keep you and see you forever!” My 6-year old son laughed and replied, “That’s stupid. Where are you gonna find a jar that big?”
My 3-year old daughter was holding her newborn baby brother for the first time. She looked up at me and asked innocently, “So, I shouldn’t throw him in the fire?”
My sister was pregnant and we were having a conversation at the dining room table. My 4-year old son asked my sister if there was a baby in her belly. She told him there was. He slid out of his chair and headed for the kitchen, saying, “We need to get it out. I’ll go get the knife.”
When my son was little, I would sometimes hold him down and pretend to eat his face, saying, “nom nom nom.” One day, he said, “I’ll never eat your face, Mommy. I’ll cut it off and wear it as a mask…”
My 5-year old cousin drew a picture of a hideous, black monster. Then, she looked up at me and said, “He told me to draw this… He’s coming for you… You better hide…”
When I was about 3 years old, our cat had kittens, but they all died. I asked my father if we could make crosses for them, which he did. As he was making them I asked, “Aren’t those too small?”
Dad: “What do you Mean?”
Me: “Aren’t we going to nail them to them?”
(Several moments silence)
Dad: “we’re not going to do that”
My mom loves to tell this story: Apparently when I was 5 or 6, I told her that aliens had stolen her real son and replaced him with me, an exact copy. I said that someday, I would return to my home planet, but she shouldn’t be sad, because her real son was having a good life in our zoo.
My little cousin was thrown out of a Catholic preschool because he took off his shoe and told one of the nuns, “Shut up or I’ll take out your eye with my shoe, because I’m the son of the devil!” Apparently that was the last straw.
I was awoken from a deep sleep at around 6 AM. My 4-year old daughter was standing over me and her face was inches from mine. She looked right into my eyes and whispered, “I want to peel all your skin off”. For a few seconds I was terrified. In my sleep addled state, I didn’t know if I was dreaming or what was going on. Then, I realized what she was talking about. I had been sunburned the previous week and my skin was starting to peel.
My niece was sitting on the couch with a weird look on her face. I asked her what she was thinking about and she said, “I’m imagining the waves of blood rushing over me.” As it turns out, they had just come back from a local science museum. There was an exhibit on the circulatory system of blood in the human body.
My 3-year old son was telling me there was a man in his room. “Mommy,” he said. “The man has big yellow eyes and he is looking at you.” I tried to tell him there was no man and my son just told me, “Oh he is hiding now.” Two minutes later, he said, “Oh no Mommy, you made him very mad. Now he says he will come when you are sleeping.” Some time later, he told me, “I’m not going to be four. I’m doing to die and you will put me down, down, down in the hole.” I assured him that wasn’t true and asked who had told him that. He got very quiet and replied, “The man told me. But I will be scared, so after three nights you will die too and come with me.”
I was in the basement of my friend’s house with her 2-year old son. He took my hand, led me over to a brick chimney that had a rusty metal door on it and said, “That’s where the dead babies go…”
I was looking at houses with my brother and his 3-year old son. As we passed the school, the little boy said “If you buy a house here, that’s where your kids will go to school!” Then, we passed a pool and the little boy said, “And that’s where your kids will go to the pool!” Then, we passed a cemetery and he said, “And that’s where you’ll bury your kids!”
One night, when my daughter was 4, I overheard her talking in her room. I poked my head in and asked if she was talking to me. “No,” she replied. “I was talking to the little boy who lives in my closet… He’s dead.”
I jokingly asked my little cousin, “What’s the best way to get a girlfriend?” His response was, “Tell her to be my girlfriend or she’ll never see her parents again.”
One day, totally out of the blue, my 5-year old son said, “Before I was born here, I had a sister, right? Her and my other Mom are so old now. They were OK when the car was on fire, but I sure wasn’t!”
One day, my 3-year old son hugged my wife and said, very seriously, “Mom, I promise I won’t ever chew on your bones…”
My 5-year old daughter had night terrors and she would sometimes scream in her sleep. One night, I said “Mommy’s here. It’s OK.” She looked right at me and screamed, “Mommy? But who is that behind you?”
A few months ago, my 3-year old daughter was playing outside in our backyard. My wife was sitting on the back step and my daughter came up and asked her if she could play with the little girl on our slide. My wife said, “I don’t see any little girl” and my daughter said, “She’s right over there on the slide, Mom. Can’t I play with her?” My wife said, “I don’t see anyone” but my daughter kept insisting, “She’s on the slide and she is blue. Can I play with her?” My wife was freaked out said, “Let’s just go inside and get a snack.” For the rest of the day, my daughter kept looking out the back door, telling my wife that the little blue girl was lonely.
When my brother was very young, he was sleepwalking. My mom was trying to get him to go back to bed. He said, “I would, but the devil is behind you…”
One day, my 4-year old son said, “My brain is telling me to do things I don’t want to do.” I just hope his brain wasn’t telling him, “Burn them! Burn them all!”
As a child I would tell my parents daily that they were not my real parents and that my real parents died in a train accident. At first, they thought it was cute, but after a few months of this, they had to put a stop to my story.
Out of the blue, my 2-year old daughter said, “If you’re quiet you’ll stay alive.” I still have no clue where that came from.
My daughter and her friend were talking about dinosaurs. I asked her, “If you were a T-Rex, what would you eat?” She got very serious, looked me right in the eyes and said, “Children… I’d eat children.”
Last week, my 5-year old son asked me, “What do you see through the black circles in my eyes when you’re controlling me when I’m at school?”
My 5-year old son gave me a card he’d made at school. On the front, it said, “How you see yourself”. He had drawn a picture of me walking in a meadow. I was surrounded by blue skies, a blazing sun, green grass and butterflies. There was a big smile on my face. Inside, it said, “How you really are”. There was a picture of me in a jail cell, gripping the bars and crying.
I work in a preschool there is a small toy kitchen in our classroom that the kids use for playing house. There was one little girl who was playing with a baby
, rocking it back and forth and singing to it. Suddenly, she shoved it into the toy oven, slammed the door shut, turned to me and said, “Sometimes bad babies go in timeout!”
My mother told me that when I was a little girl, I saw some guy at the grocery store and started screaming and crying. It was so bad we had to leave and when we got back to the car, my mom asked what was wrong. I told her he took me away from my first mom and hid me under his floor and made me sleep for a long time until I woke up with my new mom. It totally freaked my mother out.
My daughter told me that there is a woman in her bedroom who watches her and sleeps on the ceiling above her bed. She also says the woman doesn’t like me and wants to eat my heart.
A few days after my dad passed away, my mother and I were awoken in the middle of the night by a furious banging noise. We went downstairs to find my little sister desperately trying to open the back door, yelling, “He wants back in! We have to let him back in!”
We had a small fire in the backyard and my baby cousin picked up a branch, lit it on fire and stared at it for a few minutes, muttering “burn…..burn….BURN!” Eventually, as the whole stick caught fire he started laughing maniacally and yelling in a deep demonic voice, “BUUURRRNNNNINNNGGGG! BUURRRNNNINGGGG! BUUURRRNNN!!!!” It was terrifying.
My mother told me that, when I was a child, I asked her what it was like to die. When she said she didn’t know, I told her not to worry because I’d find out when I was 21.
My aunt was very sick and my wife and I were talking about the cost of making arrangements for the funeral. Our 4-year old son walked in and said, “Why don’t you just set her on fire?” As it turned out, that’s how he thought cremation worked.
We were collecting my mother-in-law at the airport. While we were waiting, my husband picked up our son and joked about tossing him over the railing. On the way home in the car, our son spent the next 3 hours making a booklet titled, “All the Times My Dad Has Tried To Kill Me”. There were illustrations showing him in all sorts of peril, including being flushed down the toilet by my husband. My mother-in-law was horrified.
I was making dinner and my 5-year old niece casually walked through the kitchen and said, “I’ll get you, and I’ll make it look like a bloody accident”. It scared the heck out of me, but later I found out she was quoting a line from The Cat in the Hat.
I asked my 3 kids what they wanted to do when they grew up. My 10-year old said, “I want to be a teacher!” My 8-year old said, “I want to be a writer!” My 6-year old said, “I want to run the machine that cuts the heads off chickens!”
I was giving my 6-year old daughter a bath and she a couple of Barbies in the tub with her. One of the Barbies had no head. The head was floating in the water. I asked her to reattach the head because it was creepy. She responded, “Why Mom? It’s not REAL. If it was real, the bath would be full of blood, and THAT would be creepy…”
One night, I was reading my 3-year old niece a bedtime story and I fell asleep. When I woke up, it was dark and eerily silent. There was a nightlight on. I turned over and saw my niece. Her eyes were wide open and she was staring at me. Then, she whispered, “How did you get out of your box?”
I asked my nephew what he was drawing and he replied, “A skeleton-making machine”. On further inspection I saw that he hadn’t drawn a skeleton making machine but rather a flesh removal machine, complete with screaming naked men and a channel for the blood. Creepy.
My wife and I were giving our daughter a bath one night, when all of a sudden, she said, “You humans brought me here!” It took us four months to figure out that it was a line she heard in a movie.
Late one night, I was sitting at my friend’s kitchen table when her daughter walked into the kitchen and said, “Mommy, when I was older I crashed the car and died. Can I have something to drink?” My friend calmly gave her daughter a glass of milk and sent her off to bed. It gave me the chills, but my friend didn’t want to talk about it. She started crying and told me never to bring it up again.
When I was 6 years old, we moved house. I said my mother, “The lady who use to live here told me that she hates the wallpaper and you are covering up her note.” She just thought it was childish rambling and forgot all about it. Twelve years later, my mother was redecorating the house. She took down the wallpaper in the attic and found a suicide note scratched into the wall.
When my mother was pregnant, my little brother came into the room and pointed a nerf gun at her stomach. “Oh, no! Don’t shoot me!” my mom said playfully. “Don’t worry, Mom,” he replied. “I’m not trying to kill you, I’m just trying to kill the baby.”
A friend of mine brought her 3-year old son over to my apartment. I asked him what his favorite holiday was. He replied, “I like Halloween because I like candy and death!”
I was minding my own business, working in the garage when the door creaked open and my 2-year old son popped his head in and asked, “Daddy, are you dead yet?” I replied, “No…?” and then he just slowly closed the door.
I was at a friends house when his 4-year old cousin was getting ready to go to bed. He walked around, giving everyone a goodnight hug. I said to him, “Sweet dreams!” He stopped at the top of the stairs, turned around and with a very serious face said, “I’ll control your dreams and make them nightmares…”
My son was 4 and his sister was almost 2. I had to go to a meeting and I couldn’t read them a bedtime story. I promised I would read them two the following night to make up for it. My son said, “It’s ok, Mom, Auntie Tracy will read to us”. I felt the hairs go up on the back of my neck. “Who?” I asked. “Auntie Tracy, Mom,” he said. “She looks just like you. After we go to bed she reads and sings to us”. I had never told them that I was an identical twin and my sister died at birth. Her name was Tracy.
My wife was making a sandwich for our 4-year old son. He was watching her really intently and she asked what he was doing. He replied, “I’m watching you make a sandwich… so I know how to do it when you die.”
While I was cooking dinner one evening, my 4-year old daughter came in and wanted to help. “You’re not going to touch the stove, are you?” I asked. “No,” she replied. “Do you know why you shouldn’t touch the stove?” I asked. She looked at me and, in a very serious tone, replied, “Because I might get burned and die and then you’d have to eat me.”
I was blowing my nose into a tissue and my 6-year old daughter asked if she could see it. I said no and she responded with, “I promise I won’t eat it”.

A/N: In this series/universe, Constantine had -one- social season where he chose Liana and then just had a courtship with Eleanor. Also, due to dramatic twist this piece ended up being way longer than I planned, so to stick with the rough outline I have this will be a two part chapter.
**This song pairs well with this piece: Worst In Me by Julia Michaels**

Jackson sits down at the kitchen table, having just finished cleaning up. It was around noon that he offered to fix lunch and Drake and Riley accepted. Their lunch wasn’t too eventful, just a bit of small talk. He didn’t go too much more into detail about the ball, once Constantine had announced Eleanor wasn’t feeling well; many people took it as their cue to leave, including the Walkers.
Riley told him more about how they ended up in Montana with Drake adding small details here and there. He could see the struggle for Drake to open up: both wanting to but not wanting to in fear of getting burned. He knew that feeling all too well. Drake also took the opportunity to tell Jackson how shortly after his funeral, Bianca had left. Leaving Drake and Savannah in the care of Bastien, claiming the loss of her husband was too hard for her to stay or raise the kids.
He watched as Drake shrugged it off: years of pretending it didn’t hurt him that she left, but Jackson could tell it bothered his son. For years, both he and Eleanor lived regretting not leaving with Liam, Drake, and Savannah, but it was a lot harder when the source of regret was looking him in the eye.
He wants to pour a glass of bourbon, help settle his nerves, but Eleanor constantly asked him not to drink until at least after 5 PM. It has been three years since her passing and he still lives as if she’s there, just shopping or with her friends. When Drake said he likes his coffee black, Jackson was proud. He drank his coffee black for years until one day Eleanor added her Hazelnut creamer to the wrong mug. The only reason any was in the fridge was that he still picked it up like he had the last seventeen years.
The house is empty, Luke’s out with his friends, leaving Jackson alone with his thoughts. It came off easy to relive those memories with Riley and Drake, but the truth was it tore him apart. When Eleanor had passed away, Jackson locked everything up inside; wanting to be strong for Luke. Remembering their story from the beginning was just as painful as losing her. Running his fingers through his hair, he pours himself a glass of bourbon. What Eleanor didn’t know couldn’t hurt her.
Jackson grabs the glass and heads out back to sit on the porch swing: Eleanor’s favorite spot for the family to relax after spending all day apart. Closing his eyes, he thinks back to the events that occurred after the ball.
*          *
Weeks have passed since the ball and both Jackson and Eleanor have kept their distance from one another. While they each tried telling themselves it was due to busy schedules, they knew deep down it was because of the rumors Barthelemy Beaumont didn’t mind spreading or entertaining.
Even when the two would see each other in passing, they simply acted as if they didn’t notice the other. Jackson still maintained his respect by bowing, but he didn’t address her nor her him. If people had been oblivious to their closer than normal relationship before the ball, they noticed the icy temperature of their run-ins now. The maids all gossip, but none could pinpoint when the two had iced over.
Jackson hates not talking with Eleanor; he misses her. He misses her smile and laughter: the way that she can make awful days better with just one look. He used to feel that the days dragged when he didn’t see her, now time all but stopped.
“Is the Queen mad at you or something?” Timothy asks; Jackson’s gloomy attitude is like a rain cloud floating above his head, “Did she tell you she wasn’t interested?”
Jackson pushes Timothy into the wall, “How many times do I have to tell you to shut the hell up?”
Timothy pushes back, but Jackson keeps him pinned up against the wall.
“I mean it, stop bringing up stuff that no one is talking about.”
“Is there a problem here, gentlemen?” A soft voice questions, coming around the corner.
Jackson recognizes the voice before he sees her face and immediately releases Timothy.
“No, your majesty.” Timothy bows.
“I see,” she looks over at Jackson, “May I speak to Officer Walker, please?”
“Of course, your majesty.” Timothy leaves the two of them alone but doesn’t go too far, keeping within earshot.
“How can I help you, your majesty?”
“Jackson.” Her hand twitches, wanting to reach out but refraining. “Is there a reason you’re shoving guards into the walls?”
“We had a small misunderstanding, it won’t happen again, Queen Eleanor.”
He knows using her proper titles would hurt, but he doesn’t know it is breaking her heart. She chews the inside of her lip, blinking back tears. She looks at the man she loves as he treats her like a stranger.
“I see.” Her voice breaks, a tear slipping down her cheek. She waits for him to reach out, to go back to being her Jackson: he doesn’t, he stands there coldly like her husband.
“I should be getting back to my rounds, ma’am.” He bows and then turns on his heel. His boots click with each step as he walks down the hall, leaving the Queen alone; completely broken.
She takes a deep breath, blinks the tears from her eyes, and decides to walk outside. It wasn’t rare for her to feel alone: despite being in a constant spotlight, the palace was a very lonely place. But the loneliness she felt from Jackson’s cold shoulder was different. It was like being unable to wake from a bad dream.
The warm air swirls around her and she finds herself smiling. She loves being outside and tries to spend as much time as she can out there. Being inside for long periods often felt suffocating. The sound of giggling fills her ears and upon investigation, she sees Liam and Drake running around. She squats down, hiding behind a bush and watches them play.
“Why do you always want to be the knight?” Liam questions his best friend.
Drake shrugs, “Cause it’s my job to keep you safe. Like my dad keeps your dad safe.”
“I wanna be a knight too!” Liam beams.
“But you’re the king.”
“Well, I want to keep you safe too!”
“Someone has to do lots of reading, you’re good at reading.”
Eleanor puts her hand over her mouth as she giggles. If only life was as simple as they thought.
Liam thinks deeply, “Let’s make a deal.”
“I’m listening.”
“As a knight, I want you to keep my mom safe.”
“Of course.” Drake shakes hands with Liam.
“What are you two sweet boys doing?” She says, scaring them as she stands up.
“Playing king and knights. Drake’s gonna keep you safe.”
“And Liam’s gonna read king stuff,” Drake says.
She smiles at them, “Can I play?”
“Girls aren’t knights, Momma.”
“Maybe I want to be,” she pauses, “a dragon!” She begins flapping her arms around as she starts chasing after the boys. Both boys start squealing, running around the courtyard. It’s not long before Olivia, Savannah, and Maxwell have joined in: both Olivia and Savannah choosing to be baby dragons.
Eleanor scoops Liam in her arms, tickling him. “Nom nom nom.”
Liam squeals, “Stop, Momma, stop!”
“Me next. Me next!” The other children took turns getting captured by the dragon. Soon everyone is lying in the grass: trying to catch their breath. When she finally stands up, she scoops all the child in her arms, hugging them tightly. When she lets go, the children resume their game while she watches; a huge smile on her face.
Unbeknownst to Eleanor, she has been watched by two different men, both captivated by her for two very different reasons.
From a second-story window, Constantine watches his wife after he had gotten up from his desk to see what all noise was. He’ll never understand her blatant disregard for courtly behavior. Sure, it wasn’t unheard of for the queen to interact with her children, but to run around and then lay on the ground: that was uncalled for. The closest his mother ever acted like that was when she’d sit outside and he’d try to show her sparing techniques he’d learn, although she never looked up from her book. Constantine just stares at his wife in disbelief that she so openly shows motherly affection to Olivia and even the Walker children. Maybe it wasn’t the fact she acted the way she did but was the fact she acted like another blonde woman. The same blonde woman that Constantine once held above everything, even above the crown.
A few yards away, stationed at the far end of the courtyard, Jackson keeps his eyes on the queen. Anyone around him would assume he’s just doing his job, but they were wrong. He knew months ago that he had developed feelings for her, but watching her now it was clear he loves her. The usually elegant queen is completely carefree, almost as if she’s in her element: her blonde hair blowing in the wind as she chases after the children. He loves how she effortlessly shows affection to his children. She always told him how much she wanted at least two more kids after Liam, wanting him to have siblings to rely on when she couldn’t be there for him.
A pair of footsteps cause Eleanor to turn her attention away from the children. The radiant smile she once wore turns into an almost forced one as she sees who has joined her.
“May I?” He motions to the open space beside her on the bench.
“Of course.” What is he thinking? Eleanor directs her attention back to the children.
There’s an awkward silence that lingers over the both of them before Eleanor stands up to leave.
“Ellie, wait.”
She stops, looking at the man sitting, “What, Constantine?”
He takes a deep breath. This was all very much out of character, he doesn’t know how to be vulnerable, “Are you doing okay?”
Her head whips around quickly, her brows knit together. What game is he playing? “I’m sorry?”
He turns to face her, grabbing her hands, “I should’ve heard you out more instead of shutting you down.”
“I went off without thinking and I shouldn’t have.”
He gives her a sad smile, “I wasn’t talking about the ball. I meant the pregnancy.”
Eleanor stares at her husband in complete disbelief. Of all the years they’ve been together, never once had he acted like this. For the first time ever, she misses his icy demeanor.
“What are you doing?” He looks puzzles as she touches her forearm to his forehead.
“I’m seeing if you have a fever. You’re acting strange.”
Constantine feels anger begin to fill him, quickly being reminded why he doesn’t show emotions. Letting out a deep breath, he explains himself.
“I saw you playing with Liam and the others.” He catches her looking away, blush on her cheeks, “You deserve to have been heard during that.”
Fresh tears prick at her eyes. She spent months being mad, allowing her anger to build a wall. A wall to prevent her from having to deal with the pain; a mixture of losing her child and her husband abandoning her. She doesn’t want that wall to fall, she doesn’t want to let him in.
“It’s no excuse, I know it’s not, but of all the trainings I’ve ever had…none prepared me for this role.” He knows it sounds stupid, all the public speaking he’s taken and done, couldn’t help him here. Though to be fair, most of what he said to the public was written by someone else, he just had to say it the proper way.
“And what role would that be exactly? Compassionate?” There’s a bite in her words and he knows he deserves it. He shouldn’t have just sprung the topic on her, he would react similarly if someone  brought up Liana randomly.
“A husband. A father.” He gives a slight shrug, “But again, it’s no excuse.”
She isn’t sure what to think right now. The man in front of her looks like her husband, sounds like him, but his actions aren’t. Was this the man who Liana knew?
“It was no secret that the main objective of remarrying was to have another child, to stabilize the monarchy.” He lets out a shaky breath, “Marriage is about compromise, give and take and all I’ve done is take from you. For that I’m sorry.”
If the wind had blown, Eleanor would’ve fallen over. Clearly this was a dream and she’d wake up from it any minute, but moments pass and she knows it’s real. However, she wasn’t sure why he was doing this. Why after all this time was he acting like this.
“I’m not following. Constantine, did something happen? You’re starting to worry me.”
“It’s just…I just…can we start over?”
“Start over?”
“I was thinking that maybe we can do something tonight. Something as a family and then just the two of us.”
She cocks her head to the side, “What did you have in mind?”
“I was thinking a game night?”
She smiles at the blush on his face, he was truly nervous about all of this. “I think the children would like that. And for just us?”
His face turns redder, “Oh…uhm…I was…how about…it’s a surprise.”
She lets out a small laugh, “Well, I’m looking forward to that. I should get the children inside and ready for dinner.”
He stands up quickly so he’s able to help her up. “I’ll escort you inside. I have a few things to finish before dinner.”
She blushes and for a moment feels butterflies. Eleanor is lost in thought until Liam crashes into her legs, “Hi Momma!”
“Hey sweet boy.”
“Papa!” Liam runs to his father and wraps his arms around Constantine’s legs, “Are you done with work?”
Constantine stands still, he wasn’t one to show affection. From the corner of his eye, he can see Eleanor watching, slightly worried about how he’d react to Liam.
“Not yet, Liam.”
Eleanor sees Liam’s face fall. Many days, Liam would sit outside his father’s office waiting for him to finish work.
“Papa just has a little left and then we are going to have a game night.”
Liam brightens up and smiles, “Yay!”
Constantine looks at Eleanor and smiles: she always knew what to say and he needed to learn to appreciate that more. He reaches for her arm, stopping her before he presses a kiss to her temple, “Thank you, Ellie.”
“Of course. He really looks up to you, ya know.” She grabs onto his arm as they all walk back into the palace.
With a broken heart, Jackson watches the whole display. His eyes have been glued to the couple from the moment Constantine walked outside. At his distance, he couldn’t hear their conversation, but El’s body language said it all. He watched as she went from defensive to accepting and how she clung to him as they walk back inside together. A display typically reserved for public events.

If you ask Constantine, he’ll say they are a family of four plus one; Eleanor will tell you they are a family of five. Either way, three children and two adults sat around a table in the sitting room.
Liam wants to play Clue. Olivia wants to play Risk. Leo wants to go to his room. Eleanor and Constantine set up a game of Jenga.
“You get the mystery of not knowing which piece will fall and the strategy of which piece to pull. Everyone wins.” Constantine tells Liam and Olivia. Leo simply just rolls his eyes, making sure to let out an annoyed huff loud enough for his father to hear.
After Leo purposefully causes the tower to fall over three times, he’s sent to his room; leaving the other four to enjoy the game.
Constantine watches Olivia, the look her face makes before each turn would make him proud if he could see past her traitorous heritage. Her determination reminds him of his own and how he wishes Leo would shape up, but he refuses to allow himself to feel anything other than distain for the young Nevrakis.
He feels himself getting slightly annoyed that while Olivia makes masterful choices, his own son hesitates and looks to his mother for guidance. Not being the Crown Prince doesn’t mean Liam won’t have responsibilities, to have to make choices that will affect people, but Constantine didn’t think a son of his could be so weak.
“Papa, it’s your turn!” Liam smiles at his father.
He looks at the tower in front of him, it was getting towards the point where it would fall. He quickly moves a piece; the tower begins to sway side to side. He watches as Liam holds his breath, as if that would prevent the pieces from falling.
“Liam, what are you doing?”
“I didn’t want to knock it over, Papa.”
He leans over, making direct eye contact with his son, “Remember Liam, as a ruler, no matter how small the role, always make decisions confidently.”
“Yes Papa.”
When it becomes Liam’s turn, he pulls a piece which causes the tower to finally fall. Constantine’s face falls, while it was just a game, he wanted more from his son.
“That’s okay, sweet boy, we can try again.”
“But I meant to do it, Momma.” He looks at his dad, “I knew it would have to fall, so I chose to be the one to do it.”
Constantine chuckles and smiles at his son, “That’s my boy.” While it might not have been a victorious move, he felt pride welling in his chest.

“I think the children really enjoyed that, thank you Constantine.” Eleanor smiles as she closes the door to Liam’s room, “Maybe we could do it again. Get Leo to stay.”
“That would be nice.” He isn’t sure what to say, he had conflicted feelings. He enjoyed spending time with Liam, even Olivia, but his father never did those things. Could he still be a good king if he wasn’t like his father?
“So.” She suddenly feels nervous around her husband, remembering what he had mentioned earlier. It has been a bit since the two were intimate and honestly it wasn’t something that has crossed her mind recently. She wasn’t sure if it was from the stress of life or if it had anything to do with Jackson.
“This way, Ellie.” He motions for her to walk back down the hall. She gets more confused with each step, especially when they pass their sleeping quarters. What in the world?
They end up walking out into the courtyard where she sees a small table set up with some lit candles.
“What is all this?” She looks up at her husband, seeing someone different than she’s known for years.
The man who she had known back when they began courting, honestly it was the man she assumed Liana knew. To be honest, she used to think a lot about how Constantine must’ve been around Liana. Wondering how much he changed when she first left. Eleanor had met him a few times before his social season started, his father made several trips to Auvernese.
During those times, Constantine would come off confident and regal; just like his father. But he had a warmth to him that his father lacked, however that warmth was put out when his heart was broken.
“I thought you deserved something nice.” His hands are in his pockets and he’s refusing to make eye contact with her. She finds it somewhat endearing, the fact that he’s being bashful which is opposite of his normal attitude.
She stretches up on her tiptoes and presses a kiss to his cheek, “I love it.”
A smile touches his lips but just as quickly as it appears, it vanishes. He escorts her to the table and then pull out her chair before sitting down himself. Between the two candles on the tables, there’s a glass vase with white dahlias: her favorite.
“Since we already have dinner, I thought you might like dessert.” He raises his arm and motions towards someone behind Eleanor. Shortly after, one of the chefs brings out a covered platter and places two glass bowls of vanilla ice cream in front of them. Another one of her favorites.
“This is lovely, Constantine.” Her smile causes his cheeks to blush and she can’t help but giggle. For the first time in years, the silence between them is comfortable.
He keeps looking up at her but looking away before she sees. He knows that she isn’t Liana, other than a few physical similarities, the two were complete opposites. However, with her now, he was feeling the same way he did with Liana: peaceful. He thought if he kept Eleanor at a distance, she wouldn’t be able to hurt him like Liana did. But over the last few days, watching and thinking about her he found himself wanting to try. To try to have a better marriage, one full of love and maybe even a few more children.
“Maybe we could make this a weekly thing.”
“Oh.” Her voice is full of shock.
“Or not. Once seems like enough.” His walls instantly went back up.
She reaches out and grabs his hand, “I didn’t mean it that way. I think it’d be a great idea.”
