“Holy crap,” Cecily said the moment she looked at the lights. She was enchanted by them and wanted to take a bunch of photos and plaster them everywhere on her walls. Every year it gets better and better, to the point that she didn’t want to go back home, not once. Pulling out her phone, she started snapping photos of the lights before she accidentally bumped into someone as she turned around. “I’m so sorry,” she said immediately. “I was distracted and didn’t look where I was going.”

            "Whoa-- you alright?” Grace laughed, hands hovering over their shoulder and arm, watching them carefully. “I nearly ran into you, so either that’s my bad or you’re not skating as straight as I think you are.”

         “You’d think these guys would care about their electricity bill,” he sighs, squinting at the glaring lights. “Though.. they probably thought ahead... got it on some sort of timer or something.” He looks over to the person beside him, brows raising. “I’ve got one wreath on my door and a poor excuse for a Christmas tree in my house. You think Santa’s gonna coal me for being underwhelming this season?”

“You know, I wonder why the hell the Great Light fight people haven’t come here yet. Got to say, these houses always look legit.” Talan exclaimed, the line up for the tour clearly already a major hit as usual. He’d been here long enough to pretty much know what to expect, yet maybe not appreciate actually taking the time to really appreciate it all. “Drunk ice skating though? Now that’s be awesome, except for the obvious.”

“I mean, when you hear the words free and cookies, why wouldn’t you want to get some out here?” Emmett shrugged, already biting into the one he’d stacked in a napkin from a nearby shop. “Yeah, the crowds can suck, but the weather can’t be an excuse , because I mean—“ He gestured a bit outward, referencing the rather warm, southern New Orleans night air.

“Now, that is pretty impressive.” Luke’s eyes scanned the enormous, sculpted figure of the T-Rex towering blatantly over mainly all the rest of the ice figures scattered about the designated viewing area set up along the street. Yes, he had to admit this was definitely worth getting a glimpse of, and even if he was pretty sure he’d seen it while growing up before he’d left New Orleans.

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year..”

Here is our first ever mini event revolving around none other than the holidays. This event is entirely optional, as we know it is an incredibly busy time of year, and can be done in your own time. However, we’ve given you around a week’s time to conduct holiday themed plots and threads throughout our “grace period”, if you wish to do so or have any ideas in mind. Perhaps the ideas below will even ignite ideas for you! If not, feel free to create your own threads that are holiday or Christmas related! 

Again, please remember our mini events are always optional. If you are taking part, please tag with the specified tag below!

TIMEFRAME:

The event will commence now on SATURDAY DECEMBER 23RD, and you have until SUNDAY DECEMBER 31ST at midnight to post threads surrounding this event. We do recommend finishing up your posts by this date, however, as we will be thrown into our next formal event when the grace period completes on January 3rd. 

LOCATION:

Garden District, Magazine St. and surrounding streets.

If you know New Orleans, you’re aware of their tendency to get into various seasons and holidays — and when we say they go all out, they go all out. The week before Christmas, all of the Garden District will be showcasing their annual best of the best holiday decorations. You can walk or drive around surrounding by the spectacle of endless lights. Shops on Magazine Street will be offering free holiday themed goodies for your convenience! 

Additionally, Magazine Street will be closed off for the three nights for the annual Christmas festival, in which Christmas treats and goodies will be for sale, all proceeds going to local charities over the holidays. Think Christmas carols, ice skating rink, Ice sculptures, carollers, various booths with lots of different goods, and not to mention the Christmas Carols concert on the Saturday evening. 

It’s a weekend not to be missed!
