It’s the way Dimitri would arrive at the third bell after noon.

Byleth could usually get through the massive amount of paperwork each day and lead the prayers throughout the day with no problem. But once she received word that her husband would be arriving soon, she found it hard to focus. Seteth would assist with the paperwork as Flayn led the prayers. Meanwhile, Byleth would gather up whatever she needed for the trip back home.

When Dimitri arrives, she would greet him and the knights who accompanied him at the gates. Dimitri would request to stay the night at the monastery so that his guards and the horses could rest after a long journey. Byleth approves his request and sends Seteth to ensure everything is in order. She always does.

It’s the way Byleth holds Dimitri’s hand as they tour the monastery.

There’s always something new to see each time Dimitri visits. Flowers in the greenhouse, courtesy of Dedue. The restoration process of the cathedral, which was finally coming to the end after nearly two years. A newly commissioned painting of Sothis in the cathedral and of Byleth in the hallway of the office building, both of which were painted by Ignatz Victor. Even the children in the orphanage would rush to show the king how much they had grown and what new sword techniques they learned since his last visit.

Byleth and Dimitri greet everyone on their walk, spending the most time with a few of the students of the Officers Academy, kids that they had originally taught several years earlier when they were just a prince and a professor. Some of them can’t help but notice the way the couple walk closely together, feeling a vague sense of satisfaction at the scene.

It’s the way Dimitri and Byleth hold each other’s hand at dinner.

The two sit across from each other at the far end of a table. Their little corner is filled with conversation as the two share what’s been happening with their lives. Byleth speaks about the combat tournaments and the year’s students, while Dimitri tells her about recent visits from their friends.

Despite secluding themselves from everyone, they’re not alone. Seteth comes by to tell them that all the preparations are in place for them to leave tomorrow. Flayn brings food she made for Dimitri to try and see if he can taste the faintest hint of salt or sugar. Alois stops by to tell Dimitri all his new jokes. Still, the two hold each other’s hand, seeking whatever connection they can while in the public eye.

It’s the way Dimitri and Byleth disappear immediately after evening prayer.

They cling to each other, holding the other as close as possible, as if the other’s presence is the only thing keeping them present as they get lost in the pleasure brought on by the other. They remain tangled up in each other through the night, wanting to make up for lost time.

Now, Byleth rests in Dimitri’s arms. From the windows, she can see the sky beginning to lighten, giving way to dawn.

Dimitri, half asleep, kisses Byleth. “I’ve missed you so much, my beloved.”

Byleth nestles further into him arms. “I’ve missed you too, Dimitri.”

It will be past noon when Dimitri leads Byleth to the traveling party heading back to Fhirdiad. By this point, it’s to be expected of them. It’s simply the way the two are.

The mysterious and beautiful younger sister of the two loud brothers rarely spoke during interviews but played the guitar like no one else. Y/N stares at him from her spot at their table. The Marlboro cigarette between her fingers is burning down on its own. She lost interest in smoking a few minutes ago anyway. She couldn’t care less. Damon meanwhile is slowly swaying while singing into the microphone.

“Take me away from this big bad world and agree to marry me. So we can start over again.”, his smooth and delicate voice cracks while her upper lip twitches. He sings in a manner that’s almost identical to how he used to speak to her in their bedroom. Y/N hears how her two brothers are giggling at his mistake while she quickly licks her lips. Finally, she brings the nearly finished cigarette back up to her lips. She notices the ashes on the tablecloth and quickly wipes them away, leaving behind a black stain.

“Oh we can start over again.”

A pained sigh leaves her lips as she tries her best to clean up the mess she made, however, the more she moves her hand over the fabric the bigger the stain gets. This could be used as a metaphor in a song. She makes a mental note to talk to Noel about it later.

„Oh we can start over again.“

Damon has to be joking, right? There’s no fucking way in hell he’s meaning any of that shit. Maybe he didn’t even write it. A deep and hurt scoff leaves her lips. He never even picked up the phone when she made an effort to phone him. She wanted to make up. She didn’t want to fight. She wanted to tell him that she was more than okay to go public with him; screw her stupid brothers. They’re always out and cheating on their girlfriends anyway- what do they know about love? Nothing! That’s right. Nothing.

“Y/N?”, Liam asks and wrinkles his eyebrows. His eyes are observing her hand and he tilts his head in confusion. But the second he glances at her face and notices the tears in her eyes the smile on his lips fades away:” Shit, birdie. What’s wrong with ya?”

Y/N wants Damon. She wants him so bad, it physically crushes her. God, when she looks at him she can virtually see the claw marks she has left behind on his soul. But now, what difference would any declaration of truth make? His girlfriend is pregnant. You can’t turn back time.

Y/N yawns while laying her head on her assistant's shoulder. It’s 4 am; their plane is leaving in 2 hours. As much as she adores London, she always misses the seaside the second she leaves it. “You want to grab breakfast on our way?”, Max asks and she looks up at the man with a smile on her face. “That’s why I pay you. God, you’re smart.” He only laughs at that.

“You can wait at the hall while I do the checkout.”, Max says while they both step out of the elevator. Y/N only nods while pulling her suitcase behind her.

“No, I am not leaving!” “Sir, please. You’ve been here since midnight. Don’t make us call the authorities!” “I don’t care, call ‘em. I am not leaving!”

Y/N wrinkles her forehead as she walks around the corner. Only to see Damon Albarn having a heated discussion with a staff member of the hotel. She stops dead in her tracks. What the fuck is he doing here?

Damon rolls his eyes and looks away. However, once he does he meets Y/N’s gaze. He instantly improves his posture “Sir?”, the woman in front of him asks but he merely shakes his head.

“I’ve found what I am looking for.”

Do you have an analysis to She Got Away?

Thank you for this question. I think if she got away as a Haylor song that had some details changed to make it a generic 1D song.

It is likely from February 2014 - fans first posted it was registered in November 2014 (after it didn’t appear on Four), although the band recorded it. While making WTNY and I Know Places with Taylor in Conway Studios he also saw Harry there (Four was in production)

Ryan has specified at least 4 other writing meetings with them:

29 January 2012 - W hotel in Westwood LA - to Zach Sang, that sounded early. 1D stayed at the W in 2012. No mention of a song just annoyed about the similar band names.

19 April 2013 - Manchester - to Capital FM - Right Now (OneRepublic was in London, One Direction in Manchester and Midnight Memories was in production. ...also after that date is when he went back to the US to get the Peace ring and Taylor wrote I Wish You Would). He says he wrote 'something else with one of them' presumably Harry as Right Now refers to CBBH and Harry loved it.

February 2014 - Conway Studios LA - to New York Post 2019 - when Taylor and Harry were there. The rest of the band was in the UK. I think this is when She Got Away was likely written. Harry wrote it with Ryan Tedder and Noel Zancanella, both who worked on Welcome to NY. Ryan also said he saw Harry and Taylor at the studio then (I know places & welcome to NY from the same sessions, we also know Harry was there when JABOYH was written while hanging around Conway in January 2014. Style, Shake it off were also recorded then. It’s widely reported this song was for Four, fan first posted about it being registered in November 2014 after Four released without it.

She Got Away Lyrics

Jennie in She got Away seems like a composite rather than an actual person. She is enigmatic, contradictory and mysterious. She is very much of the Diana/Georgia Rose archetype who is a vessel that 1D's fans could see themselves in or aspire to be. Harry's love of older music is clear, it's very Bob Dylan-inspired storytelling through characters, wandering and the places named.

Verse One: Liam & Harry] I met this girl the other night On the streets of New Orleans She said I'm trying to find myself On the run from Tennessee She had a diamond in one ear And patches on her jeans Oh yeah, oh yeah, the girl she got to me

The first verse reminds me of Taylor in the 'On the run from Tennessee' especially if the song is written in the same session as Welcome to New York, she was on the run from country music, the success of Red and her home of Tennessee.

The 'Diamond in one ear and patches on her jeans 'is a perfect description for this transitional era of Taylor - on the success of her last Country-pop album singing about moving to New York for a complete pop album. This line is very much Taylor at that time. It is a brilliant line as it works for the 1D listener who is an evolving young woman.

Jennie has a way with words Yeah, she always speaks in quotes She said that she ain't ever Met a man like me before She told me she just won a trip to Mexico Oh yeah, oh yeah On the radio Oh yeah, oh yeah Someday she will go

She has a way with words is a girl who writes, speaks in quotes is someone who writes heavily in references and metaphor... sounds like someone we know. 'She said she ain't never met a man like me before / she won a trip to Mexico' this sounds like the intended listener is fan fiction writers, coming up with the scenario where they meet Harry.

The 'never met anyone like me' line to me has me wondering how many of Taylor's Exes would come back to the studio to hear her next album be recorded and spend days collaborating on writing love songs about her while she does.. I think that's still a list of 1.

[Chorus: All] When I close my eyes I swear that I can see her Then they open wide And she’s a world away And I swear she’s mine So does every man who meets her Oh yeah, oh yeah She’s the girl that got away Oh yeah, oh yeah But she’s coming back someday

The chorus has Harry and the muse separated by the world, he is dreaming of her, it fits nicely with the fanfiction listener. There's a nice call out to 'half the world away'.

The 'so does every man who meets her' reminds me of Fool's Gold's 'you turn it on for everyone you meet' but here it is loving. And a nice 'she's coming back someday' adorable for writing this the same week as Style's 'Everytime we crash down we come back again'

Coffee late at night - need I say more?? The sleep also is a nice call back to Little Things. Jennie is chaotic and sounds hyperproductive... yeah...

The tattoo is cute, a clear 'not Taylor or anyone he'd dated.' unless the tattoo is on him and she doesn't know who it was for. 'when she was with me'

The bridge is a nice resolution, Harry has made a decision he is committed. It is so much more hopeful than JALBOYH and WDBHG from the same sessions.

No offense to the Lupins, but Kuroba Kaito will walk circles around them AND the Patos. If he wants to steal something he's gonna get it. Especially since I think they'll hesitate to transform to fight a civilian, while he won't hesitate to throw everything he's got at them.

That also means a certain pint-sized detective probably won't be too far away... and knowing him, he's gonna end up pulling everyone into a murder mystery that would distract all parties from the heist...

Santa Claus Conquers the Martians (1964)

In 1964, producer Paul L. Jacobson made this B movie in two weeks for a measly $200,000. It promptly tanked. In 1978, the film was listed in the book “The Fifty Worst Films of All Time.” But since then, a la “Rocky Horror Picture Show,” it has become a cult classic. Made popular by “Mystery Science Theater 3000,” the movie about a Martian scheme to kidnap St. Nick so he can distribute gifts to alien kids is so laughably bad that it’s perfect for midnight viewing on Christmas Eve. What to look forward to: the screen debut of actress and singer Pia Zadora, a troop of unitard-wearing spacemen sporting plastic stun guns and the particularly earworm-y theme song, “Hooray for Santy Claus!”

Os líderes marcianos decidem então capturar o Papai Noel e trazê-lo para Marte para que ele possa fabricar brinquedos para as crianças do planeta. No entanto, um marciano, tradicionalista e ligado às raízes guerreiras de Marte, permanece em constante discordância em relação à ideia e repetidamente tenta matar o Papai Noel, e também as duas crianças terrestres capturadas, já que ele acredita que Noel está corrompendo as crianças marcianas e afastando-as da gl��ria original da raça.

A Very Creole Christmas

Joyeux Noel, Y’all. 

After thinking about doing a Hazbin History segment over the holidays, I finally decided to jump on in. As New Year’s approaches and many around the world celebrate Christmas, I thought it would be fun to write on holiday traditions unique to the American South and some customs specific to Louisiana. Nothing says winter holidays quite like garlands of native pine and... magnolias? Stockings full of... oranges? The taste of ... oysters? I grew up in Memphis and my family has deep roots throughout the South so a lot of these customs I have personally experienced. 

This post is also not super planned out or edited. It’s a lightly researched thought dump. This is also not an exhaustive list. If I left something out, it is not intentional. 

Holiday Customs of the Southern United States:

Citrus:

Tropical fruit may not be the first thing that comes to mind when you imagine Christmas time in America. But in the South, it is a very old custom dating back to the earliest days of coastal colonial communities. In colonial times, fresh citrus was an extremely rare and expensive delicacy. In early winter, ships loaded with citrus and other delicacies from Florida and the West Indies would begin arriving in port cities along the Southern coast. Nothing showed off New World wealth and connections in the colonial South like displays of fresh fruits and garlands of dried citrus. Fresh fruit became the ultimate luxury gift. The prickly pineapple in particular has legendary status in the city of Charleston and is sometimes associated with Southern hospitality.  Placing oranges in stockings or giving gifts of gourmet fruit remain popular in many parts of the South today. Growing up, I often received at least one orange in my stocking for good luck and no scent says ‘holidays’ to me quite like the mix of orange and warm cinnamon. As an adult, I receive gourmet fruits at least once during the winter holiday season. Dried citrus is also popular in holiday potpourri and can still be seen in some contemporary holiday garlands. 

Pecans:

This delicious nut grows prolifically throughout the South. Pecans are harvested between September and December and pecan based treats are a staple of any fall or winter gathering. The exact origins of many pecan based treats remain a mystery but folklore suggests that French settlers in Louisiana first created the iconic pecan pie as well as pralines. Bowls of candied pecans are a common sight at holiday parties or winter get togethers and they have a habit of turning up in winter salads too. 

Magnolias:

A very fragrant, native plant synonymous with the South. It is also an evergreen. The use of pine for swags, wreath, and general decor has spread throughout the United States but the use of Magnolia in holiday decor remains mostly a Southern tradition. I was in Charleston and Savanna in December 2019 and saw a lot of Magnolia wreaths on houses. I don’t remember seeing it as much in my hometown of Memphis. It seems to be more common in coastal cities. The practice could also be on the decline due to the standardization of greenery sold at big box chain stores.  

Oysters:

Oysters are both extremely popular and extremely plentiful in the south. They are a staple of coastal cuisine and are popular on special occasions further inland. Oysters are a pretty common sight at holiday parties. Almost every holiday party I remember growing up featured raw oysters on the half shell during cocktails. It also frequently appears in various holiday stews and even in holiday stuffing. Some people are ardent believers in the superiority of oyster stuffing at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I think I have to agree on this one. Oyster stuffing is delicious. 

Rèveillon: A New Orleans tradition

Louisiana is unique in that it has French Catholic colonial roots, not Anglo-Protestant colonial roots. Much of early Louisiana celebrated Christmas as a predominantly religious holiday, reserving much of their more secular festivities for New Years. Over time, many New Years festivities would migrate to Christmas. One notable custom to come out of New Orleans was the practice of Rèveillon which was a late night feast to wake up the senses after the traditional Midnight Mass. Observant Catholics would attend holiday services on Christmas Eve and then indulge in decadent late night get togethers that lasted until dawn. French Creoles at the time were known for late night entertaining on special occasions. These meals could get unbelievably extravagant and naturally depended on quite a number servants, often slaves, to pull off. Servants and/or slaves would prepare the meal while the family was at church and clean up after the festivities were over. The practice gradually died because of the labor required, the incursion of ‘American” holiday culture, and a gradual shift towards a party culture focused on cocktails and nibbles instead of lavish multi-course meals. By the early 20th century only the most traditional families were still holding Rèveillon dinners and the practice went dormant for many decades in 20th century. Today, a modern updated form of Rèveillon is making a comeback in the New Orleans restaurant scene. To increase holiday dining and tourism, some New Orleans restaurants are now offering multi-course celebratory dinners in the spirit of Rèveillon. French speaking Creoles of the past would likely find at least some familiarity in the menus of restaurant Rèveillon feasts.  

Bonfires on the Mississippi:

The mighty Mississippi dominates life and culture in the Delta from New Orleans to Memphis. In parts of the lower Mississippi, giant earthen levees attempt to contain one of the world’s largest rivers. Along these levees between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, a curious tradition emerged. Every year on Christmas Eve, the levees burst into flames as locals in St. Johns and St. James parish forgo electric twinkle lights for colossal burning pyres. I have not seen the Christmas bonfires myself but boy oh boy is it on my bucket list. It’s not exactly clear how this annual tradition started. Bonfires were part of ancient Celtic customs long before the arrival of Christianity and the tradition of celebratory fires was still a widely practiced custom when settlers began arriving in the New World. Perhaps settlers from Alsace brought the tradition to Louisiana. It is also possible that French missionaries started the custom of lighting bonfires. Another origin I have heard is that the fires were meant to help travelers navigate winter-time fog on their way to Christmas mass. However it started, it is now an integral part of Christmas festivities along the lower Mississippi. Previously people just gathered scrap wood. Now people build elaborate scrap wood sculptures in the shape of boats, plantation homes, pick up trucks, etc to light ablaze on Christmas Eve. The festival exploded in popularity after WW2 when subdivisions began reaching into these formerly rural areas, bringing in an influx of young families.
