2024 was (yet another) incredibly difficult year, and as usual fics helped get me through! Thank you to all of the fandom content creators who make the most incredible worlds for us to enjoy. Here are some last lines from fics I enjoyed reading during 2024.

When Louis finally lets her go, it feels like a painful farewell.

Louis grumbles. Harry grins. Life is good.

Finally, they’re living their dream come true.

Maybe he was never meant to know. And maybe, that was okay.

They have a train to catch.

“Don’t I know it.” He winked.

“I love you too,” Louis whispered. The room was dark around him, pitch black, but Harry was the light pouring out, filling him up. “My sunshine, my baby.”

We want all the new deets on Louis and Harry, but we will have to wait to see what both their next steps are, and hopefully Harry can bring us along for the ride with his amazing photographs!

The moon shines down on them, glistening into the sea. The only people there for the moment being Harry, Louis and the moon.

Louis chuckles despite himself, hurrying after Harry. They really do.

So now, just a month before the 2023 season begins, Harry and Louis walk into McLaren headquarters as teammates and lovers, excited for another season, and the rest of their lives. 

"Love you, Lou." Trailing his fingertips up and down Louis' back, Harry says, "Can't wait to marry you."

Louis laughs and collapses into the wall behind him, feeling lighter than he can ever recall, counting down the seconds until the gig is over and he has his boy back in his arms.

And Harry wouldn’t refuse that request. He was in for a very happy life indeed.

“Lock — oh — lock the… fucking door,” Louis mutters.

When Harry Styles starts his first day as a surgical intern, he expects a lot of things: to treat patients, to observe a surgery, to feel a bit overwhelmed. What he definitely doesn’t expect, however, is that the handsome guy he kicked out of his bed this morning is also an intern.

A Grey’s Anatomy AU where tensions are high, Harry and Louis are hooking up in secret, and no one has time for love. Or do they?

“Only If I can share your cabin.” Harry shuffled about, tucking the duvet between his legs, sweeping his hair up into a bun and securing it in a band. “I’m not being an accessory to murder and then still having to share with them two, no fucking way.”

Louis and Harry are part of the entertainment team on board a luxury cruise liner. They hate sharing their four berth cabin with two other guys and would do anything to get a cabin of their own. One drunken night the solution was simple. They’d just get married…

jaerie knows i love this fic. my friends know i love this fic. i’m pretty sure most of the world’s population knows too. the relationship development in general & portrayal of inexperienced!harry/experienced!louis is top tier. it’s interesting reading harry going through his journey, in a generally pretty accurate way (from the perspective of someone who grew up religious), so i love that it’s in harry’s pov. i love how louis goes from teasing to soft to guiding so naturally, as well.

this fic portrays protective louis so well while harry’s still independent & in charge of his own autonomy. there’s some mentions of violence in this, just a disclaimer, but it’s veryyyyy minor! really good (dark) plot twist at the end too!

i am an absolute sucker for fics where either harry or louis is a single father & the other one just swoops into their life & fits. & that’s exactly how this fic is. i’m not an angst person at all, but i also love how there’s realistic angst/concerns that a single parent would have about bringing another person into their lives. other than that bit, there’s still a whole lotta fluff !!

To be honest, the only fantasy I really read are omegaverse fics.

However, I trust @allwaswell16 's fic recommendations with my life, and she has a rec list for everything, including fantasy, which you can find here. I also saw in her monthly fic recommendations for this month a few fantasy ones, you should check those out as well.

I know one was by @nobodymoves /you_explode on ao3. I haven't read it, but I did meet the author at all 3 Louis concerts, so I can recommend it based on them being lovely.
