Stick Season
Pairing: Emily Prentiss x reader, Larissa Weems x reader
Warnings: angst, hints of miscarriage
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The team sat drinking in Emily's apartment “Oh and what about that woman you dated! The pretty one” Morgan laughed “Y/n?” She responded confused. “Yeah! What happened to her?” Penelope gasped wide-eyed “Um- she moved away” Emily swallowed.
“She was so pretty” JJ sighed leaning back on the sofa “I still remember her babysitting Henry for me” she smiled “She has talent” JJ tilted her drink. The radio played softly in the background as the group made Emily's ex the main subject "Imagine having to tell people how badly you fumbled" Morgan shook his head.
Penelope hummed along before starting to sing, JJ joined in until Spencer and Morgan hummed too "And I'm terrified of the weather, 'cause I see you when it rains". Emily closed her eyes listening to the music, Hotch and Rossi looked knowingly. This was you.
"Doc told me to travel, but there's COVID on the planes" They all stood to dance not realising the lyrics just yet or maybe they did. "And I love Vermont but it's the season of the sticks" Emily's eyes opened you always wanted to visit Vermont, that's where your mum was from. It had been two years almost since you had broken up "And I saw your mom, she forgot that I existed" Emily wanted to laugh.
"And it's half my fault, but I just like to play the victim" She knew it was partly a dig at her "I'll drink alcohol 'til my friends come home for Christmas". You never drank because your dad was an alcoholic "And I'll dream each night of some version of you!!!" Spencer's voice cracked.
"That I might not have, but I did not lose" Emily quickly stood, on a race to the bathroom, closing the door only making the music seem louder. "No, I am no longer funny 'cause I miss the way you laugh. You once called me forever now you still can't call me back."
She had to find you and it wasn't hard she knew you tried to contact her still Emily watched the phone ring through unable to face she had hurt you. Stick season was the name of your song. It came out a year ago but now you were posting some gorgeous blonde on Instagram,
You were finally doing everything you had always planned, you looked happy Larissa had proposed on your anniversary she seemed nice. The more she scrolled Larissa was a principal for what school it didn't say but your following had boosted. You'd made it just like you spoke about.
There was another picture- a few actually that stood out a picture of a dove but you were scared of birds the caption read Joanne Prentiss. Emily didn't know a Joanne and definitely not one with her last name, it was posted a few months after you broke up. Another picture closer to when you had moved out was two plates but only one set of cutlery. It flew over Emily's head, had you been seeing Larissa longer than the internet said?" she wondered still stalking you.
"I hope this pains just passin' through, but I doubt it" Emily slumped against the bathtub watching the last two years of your life in pictures. Everyone made sure to remind her how she let you go but back then it felt best.
You will marry Larissa who helped you gain your shine back and she'll rot at work, you will continue a family while hers will grow without her. You will be happy and that's all she could hope for until she accidently liked a post from when you moved to Vermont.
"Em? Are you okay?" you messaged not long after but Emily couldn't bring herself to say the truth "I'm great, Penelope was on my phone" she frowned. 'Okay, I'm just checking but it's good to hear you're still alive' Two years for this, Emily still lying. It's the alcohol she tried to pass 'Yeah I guess, I heard your song it's...' Emily typed only to delete it 'Yeah, I'm sorry I wasn't there' No Emily.
'I love you- no' 'yeah I guess so, I see you're well' the song was coming to an end "Now your tire tracks and one pair of shoes. And I'm split in half, but that'll have to do" JJ sang loudly. It took a moment for you to respond 'Yeah it took a while, life was tough but it wasn't anything I hadn't gone through before'.
'Can we be friends?' Emily was quick to text 'I'm not sure, you really hurt me but only time will tell. I have to go now Em, Larissa just got home but please take care'.

Y/n always told people that their boyfriend, Noah, was protective, not jealous. He wasn’t controlling and he didn’t mind his girlfriend having guy friends, but the moment someone made her feel uncomfortable he would jump right in. Otherwise he was just a sweet and friendly fellow.
Such was the case when Noah, Y/n, and their best friend Luke went to a party. Both Y/n and Noah where visiting their friend in Florida, and he was determined to help them have a blast. So here they were on a Friday night, screaming their lungs out to “Party In the U.S.A”. Despite only having met recently through minecraft streaming, the three people were super close. Luke was like a brother to both Y/n and Noah, and so overall the three were having a blast.
There were a lot of people in the room, and it wasn’t long before the occasional whistle or catcall from some strange men came towards Y/n. Both Noah and Luke got very upset, and wanted to confront them, but Y/n said she didn’t want trouble and persuaded the boys to let it be.
The three of them were dancing along to “Friday” when a man approached them.
“Hey there, the names Darren. Haven’t seen y’all round here before.”
The man, Darren, threw quick glances at the two boys, but when he got to Y/n he dragged his gaze down her figure, staring a little too long for her comfort. Subconsciously she tried to hide into herself, crossing her arms over herself as if too hide. Luke sorta stepped in front of his friend, getting between her and Darren.
“Yeah, I’m friends with Cara, so she invited me and my friends here tonight. They’re in town visiting so we’re just trying to have some fun.”
A smirk grew on Darren’s face, and he seemed to look straight through Luke to Y/n. “Oh yeah? Well I know how to show people a good time.” He winked at Y/n, but she turned her head to look at Noah, who looked like he was ready to kill.
Touching his arm, Y/n softly whispered to her boyfriend. “I’m just going to get a drink, I’ll be right back.”
She turned and walked away, leaving the boys to talk to the creep. Darren’s eyes never left her, and as she left earshot, he made a comment.
“Looks like the back is as good as the front, am I right boys.” He laughed at his own poor joke, but suddenly Noah had straightened to his full height and was standing closer to Darren, Punz hovering just behind his friend. Noah was just taller than Darren, and the later began to notice just how muscular the man before him was.
“Hey, I get it, she’s your friend, I can’t help that I have eyes-“
“That woman happens to be my girlfriend, and I know for a fact that she doesn’t appreciate you looking at her like she’s a piece of meat. So either back off, or he and I will make you.” Noah’s usually cheery and friendly voice had turned stone cold and menacing. His dark eyes held Darren’s gaze, daring him to make another comment about Y/n.
Darren simply put up his hands in mock-surrender. “Alright, alright, sheesh. She wasn’t worth my time anyways.” With that he walked away, throwing the occasional glance back to Noah and Luke to make sure they weren’t following him.
With him now gone, both Noah and Punz decided to go find their girl. She was at the drinks table, pouring some lemonade into a red Solo cup. Noah ran up behind her and gave her a hug, Luke coming up the side and taking Y/n’s cup to down it all in one swig.
“Hey, that was mine!”
“And is was positively refreshing!”
Shaking her head, Y/n turned to see Noah’s head resting on her shoulder. She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek while reaching her hand up to play with his hair. “Did you finally lose the other dude?”
Both men threw glances at each other, and after a moment Luke answered. “Yeah, he realized he wasn’t cool enough to hang out with us.”
All three friends laughed, knowing that with their professions they were technically anything but “cool.” Straightening up, Noah took Y/n’s hand and threw his other arm around Luke’s shoulders.
“What do you guys say to leaving this party and going to get ice cream!”
“Yes please!”
“I want extra sprinkles!”
Luke shot off to go claim shotgun in the car, leaving Noah and Y/n to follow him hand in hand. Just before they caught up, however, Y/n stopped and gave her boyfriend a kiss.
“Well thank you, but what was that for?”
“Thank you for protecting me back there.”
“Wha-how?”
Y/n softly laughed and cupped Noah’s cheek in her hand. “Because I know you, and I know that I will always be safe with you.”
“Always and forever babe.”

One
(Y/N) (Y/L/N) was born at 10.00 a.m on July 4th, 1914, at her house in Boston, Massachusetts. On January 15, 1935 (Y/N) sat on her porch reading a book. At that moment, Andrew Edgar Williams, her childhood friend has just gotten back from his deployment from the Navy walking in front of her house.
Andrew that saw (Y/N) reading a book with her leg tucked under the other stopped immediately at her fence. He took off his cap and called her.
"(Y/N) (Y/L/N)..?" He questioned.
(Y/N) that heard her name called raise her head from her book and saw a young man in her fence standing in Navy Uniform. She furrowed her eyebrows "Yes..?" she asked, bewildered with who was standing behind her fence. She rose to her feet and walked toward him but stopped a few feet away from behind her fence.
Andrew's smile grows bigger at her confirmation "I'm-I'm Andrew Williams. Noah Williams son, your next-door neighbour, remember?" He raises an eyebrow at her.
(Y/N) form a smile on her face, she definitely knows Andrew, her childhood friend, the last time she saw him was ten years ago when he moved away to live with his grandparents after her father died.
"You have grown up" Andrew smiled sheepishly, a blush crept on his cheek, and he tilted his head down to hide them.
"You expect me to stay as ten years old girl, Andrew?" She smirk, Andrew whipped his head and he become flustered. "No-no I mean, you are you are beautiful now, more beautiful than I imagine" his blushed cheeks are more prominent now, he then tilted his head down to hide his blushed cheeks. He clears his throat to ease some nerves.
(Y/N) smile and folded her arms on her chest. "Want to get some coffee and tell me about your day when you're away?" (Y/N) offered.
Andrew lifts his head to look at her and grins happily "Yeah, I love to". (Y/N) walked to her gate and open it from him. That day, they spent catching up some time when they drift away.
Three months later, Andrew proposed to (Y/N) and two weeks later they got married at the local cathedral. After three years of waiting, they were blessed with a daughter that they name Lorraine Joanne Williams. The couple is so happy about that.
On September 14, 1940, Andrew got called for deployment to Pearl Harbour in Oahu, Hawaii. Leaving his wife and two years old Lorraine.
"Be careful, okay" (Y/N) whisper to his ear. Andrew tightened his hug on his wife and caress her back. He kiss her forehead and muttered, "I love you".
Lorraine then walked to them and stopped beside (Y/N) leg. Andrew feels his daughter's presence pull away from (Y/N). He kneel in front of her, and the two years old Lorraine looked at her father, innocently.
"Papa have to go, so you two have to take care of each other, okay?" Andrew caresses his daughter's hair, Lorraine moves forward and threw her tiny arms on her father's neck. "I love you Papa" She muttered on his neck.
Andrew can't contain his tears again, he sniffed and kiss his daughter's hair. "I love you too darling". Andrew rose to his feet and kissed (Y/N) once again, "I'll miss you, my love". He muttered one last time before climbing to the truck that waiting for him outside their house.
On December 8th, 1941, (Y/N) pick up the morning newspaper in front of her house. Her mother live with her until her husband got back from deployment. The three years old Lorraine is sitting in her chair at the dinner table munching her food. (Y/N) walked to kiss Lorraine on her cheek which make her scrunch her nose. She stood a few feet away from her kitchen with a newspaper opened, she read the headline today.
"ATTACK ON THE PEARL HARBOUR BY THE IMPERIAL JAPANESE MILITARY"
"The Japanese have attacked Pearl Harbor from the air and all naval and military activities on the island of Oahu, a principal American base in the Hawaiian islands"
(Y/N) eyes go wide by this, she scanned the newspaper and read the victims' names of this attack, there, Andrew Edgar Williams's name was written as one of them. She then passed out after reading the name, Lorraine heard a loud thud and saw her mother fall to the floor, she then called her grandmother who was outside watering the plant.
****
When she woke up, her mother and three years old Lorraine is waiting for her with a worried look. She embraces them and cried on her mother's shoulder. She lost her husband, she become a widow now, and Lorraine lost her father.
Lorraine didn't understand what just happened and hug back her mother, and she remember what her father told her whenever she was sad.
"Mama, don't worry, you have me, you don't have to be sad" (Y/N) that heard this, begin to sob. Andrew always told her that whenever they'll go to sleep, whenever she was sad. And who's gonna tell her now?
***
After her husband's funeral, (Y/N) and Lorraine move out to live with her mother in San Diego. Five months later, (Y/N) drove to her mother's house after getting back from work. She's driving in the middle of the night on the empty road with trees surrounding them.
But something highly unusual occurred.
Snow fell on San Diego.
(Y/N) peaked out to look at the snow. The snow begins to pour heavily. Her vision from the road begins blurry with the snow and the dark of the road makes it worse. She didn't see there was a turning, her car crashed with the roadblock. Her body got tossed around in her car while rolling in the valley. Her car then crashed into the lake with her body inside of it.
Immersion in the frigid water caused (Y/N) body to go into an anoxic reflex, instantly stopping her breathing and slowing her heartbeat. Within 2 minutes, (Y/N) (Y/L/N) core temperature had dropped to 87 degrees, and her heart stopped beating. (Y/N) body slowly begins to sink into the lake with her car.
At 8.35 the bold of lightning struck the car. The car discharges half of billion volts of electricity and produces 60.000 amperes of current. It was threefold. First, the charge defibrillated (Y/N) (Y/L/N) heart. Second, she was jolted out of her anoxic state causing her to draw her first breath in 2 minutes.
(Y/N) slowly rise from the drowning and took her breathing. She climbed from her car and swim to the river bank. She lay on her back on the muddy ground and took a deep breath, she breathed heavily and try to catch her breath. She try to calm herself from her dead experience as cold snow fell into her body.
Third, based on Von Lehman's principle of electron compression in deoxyribonucleic acid. Which will be discovered in the year 2035 (Y/N) (Y/L/N) and will henceforth be immune to the ravages of time. She will never age another day.
As the years passed.
(Y/N) (Y/L/N) credited her unchanging appearance to a combination of a healthy diet, exercise, heredity, and good luck.
San Diego, 1955
(Y/N) just got back from her brunch with Lorraine, they walked side by side with Lorraine looping her arm with her. When they arrived at the lobby, (Y/N) bumped into one of her childhood friends.
"(Y/N), is that you?" Her friend looked at her with incredulity. Her husband beside her turns to look at her too.
(Y/N) formed a smile "Margaret. How are you? it's been a long time". Margaret released her hand from her husband's arms and step to hug (Y/N), she hugged her back. Margaret then pull away and placed her arms in (Y/N) biceps. Margaret that was in her forty has wrinkles on her eyes and a few grey hairs prominent in her neatly styled hair. "Wow, you still so young. And is this Lorraine? Gosh, you've grown up" she then turn to Lorraine and placed her hand on Lorraine's biceps.
"That, I always told my mother, but she didn't believe me" she smile teasingly at (Y/N) who just chuckled. (Y/N) released herself from Margaret's grasp and looped her arm with Lorraine. Margaret still examined the two "You two looked like a sister" she chuckled nervously, and cannot believe her friend was still like in her twenties.
"That's very kind of you, but we really should leave" (Y/N) smiled politely, and turn around. She walked away from her with Lorraine in her arms.
"How is that possible, you still looked like twenty" Margaret still stood at her feet, stunned and in disbelief, her husband step up and placed his hand behind her back.
Lorraine turn her head "She just got back from Europe, to do some face thing and she doing a healthy lifestyle now" she told her. But (Y/N) tuck Lorraine's hand to tell her to stop. She shakes her head to her. "Okay darling, bye-bye Margaret. Great seeing you" she turned her head and bid goodbye to Margaret that still stunned on her feet.

Innsbruck, Richmond, Virginia. July 5th, 1960
The action was required later when living a quiet suburban existence, (Y/N) (Y/L/N) was pulled over for a minor traffic infraction.
A police officer with his uniform walked toward (Y/N) driving side, he knock on her window and she lowered it. She smiled at the officer.
"Can I help you, Officer?" She asked politely, a bit confused when the police stopped her car. "Yes, it seems you infringe the stop sign. And I need to see your driver's license, Ma'am" (Y/N) open her purse and give him an old driver's license from the 1930s that is just a piece of paper."Here we go, officer"
The officer hesitate a bit but take the paper from her. He read the paper and furrowed his eyebrows. "(Y/N) (Y/L/N), born July 4th, 1914." He glanced at her " So, you're 45 years old now?"
"46 actually" she smiled correcting him. The officer let out a sigh and leaned slightly toward her. He place one hand on her car roof and held the paper between his fingers and pointed at her. "Ma'am, I'm gonna hold onto this. When you come by the station house to pick it up, please bring your birth certificate."
"Of course, officer, is tomorrow, alright?" She asked politely. The police officer just nodded and (Y/N) drive away from him.
Soon after, (Y/N) moved back to Boston and took a clerical job at the School of Medicine. There, she availed herself of every opportunity to research her condition.
She opened every medical book she found but never get any explanation she wanted to find. She stared at herself in the mirror to find any sign of her getting ageing but cannot find anything. Not even wrinkles or grey hair form in her appearance. She's almost fifty but she is still like 27 years old.
After a year of intense study, (Y/N) (Y/L/N) was forced to confront the fact that there was absolutely no scientific explanation for her condition. She begins to accept the fact that she can't get older and leaves her life quietly in Boston.
***
When she walked home from her work, there were two men in trench coats following her with fedora hats after she got out of the building. When she hit the sidewalk, they begin to walk closely behind her. The street is empty this night, there's no sign of people walking around.
"(Y/N) (Y/L/N), we're from Federal Bureau Investigation. We need to talk to you" One of them speaks while taking a drag of his cigarette.
When she heard this, she begins running, and they followed her running too, they began to chase her to the alley. She turn on the corner and hid in the tiny space that separated the two buildings. The place is enough to hide her, the dark of the night help to hide her body from the sight of eyes.
(Y/N) breathes heavily and trying to calm herself, she looked with wide eyes when she saw them arrive in front of her. She clutched her bag on her chest tightly.
"Shit! We lost her." One of them breathes heavily, he fixes his fedora hat.
"I think she's not far. She can't run that fast" the other suggest, they nodded to each other and begin running to find her through the alley. Soon after they leave, (Y/N) get out of her hiding and runs to the opposite direction from them straight to her house.
Inside her house, she packed her clothes and anything important in her suitcase, including her wedding pictures and her photos with Lorraine. She drives to Lorraine's house, where she lives with her husband now. She waits in her car, watching Lorraine cleaning her dinner table through her window shield.
***
Lorraine smiled when her husband kiss her cheek before he go to the kitchen to clean the dishes while she put some leftovers in the box. Through her window, she saw a car with her light pointed to her house, she recognise that car. Her smile that in her lips suddenly grow bigger, She stopped doing her task and run outside. She opens her mother's passenger side and climbs onto it. Her smile was flattered when she saw her mother's cheeks is tainted with tears.
***
(Y/N) explained everything about what happened to her and her decision to move away. Lorraine broke into tears hearing this, her mother never leave her side until now, despite her being married, she always visit her mother every week, but now she can't visit her again.
"Mama.. why you can just stay.." she sobbed, (Y/N) bringing Lorraine to her embrace.
"I'm sorry darling, but it has to be this way" she brushes her hair and Lorraine cries in her mother's embrace. (Y/N) doing this to ensure the freedom and safety of herself and her daughter, She vowed to keep moving, changing her name, residence, and appearance every decade, and never to speak of word or her fate to another living soul. In seven weeks, When Martha Blair disappears forever, and Hannah Parker takes up residence in a remote farmhouse in Greenfield, Ohio. (Y/N) (Y/L/N), besides one moment of weakness will have kept her vow for the past 60 years.

SAN DIEGO, 2019
(Y/N) open her apartment door, before she can close the door properly, she got surprised by someone throwing herself at her. She leaned back slightly for the impact.
She let out a laugh when she know who hug her. "Natasha, what are you doing here, darling" she caresses Natasha back.
"I miss you, Nana, you're not visiting us again since last year" she pouted on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry, darling, I do visit you though, but Noah said you have a special mission on Top Gun" Natasha lift her head from (Y/N) shoulder to kiss her cheek. Natasha then walked to her kitchen.
"So what are you doing here?" (Y/N) open her shoe and placed it on a rack. She then shrugged off her coat and hung it behind the door. She walked to her kitchen where Natasha already sat in the pantry waiting for her.
"Just want to visit you while I'm in town. And I miss your carbonara" Natasha wiggles her eyebrows at (Y/N) that washing her hand in the sink. She smiles and shakes her head. She then begins to take out the ingredients from the fridge to make Carbonara. She filled the pot with water and place it on top of the stove. She turns the stove on and prepares another ingredient.
When she chopped some Pancetta, she turn to Natasha that messing around with the cutlery in the pantry. She placed one hand on her hips "Wait, how do you open this door? I don't remember giving the key to Noah?" She cock her eyebrows to her. Natasha looked at her with wide eyes and grinned innocently. "I used bobby pint as you taught me"
(Y/N) let out a sigh "I teach that to you so you can use it in emergency situations. Not breaking into my apartment"
"This is an emergency situation. My stomach growls for one hour now. See, you heard that" She exclaimed and pointed to her growling stomach. (Y/N) shake her head and place the pan on the stove, after the pan was hot she placed the Pancetta on top of it. When she grates the cheese she can know Natasha wants to tell her something, she finished grating the cheese and asks her. "Another thing you want to say to me?" She cracked the eggs and separated the yolk into another bowl. She took the spaghetti from the shelf and place it in the boiling water.
"Yes actually, I want you to come with me, to this Military Party" She trailed off. (Y/N) let out a sigh and mix the eggs, black pepper and cheese with the whisk.
"C'mon, Nana, dad said you never go out to party like this since the 80s. That's older than me. Besides, you will move out soon after right? I saw your new identity and your new address at the entry table." Natasha remarked. (Y/N) didn't answer it, the sound of boiling water filled the silence in them. Natasha let out a sigh and continue messing with the cutlery, she propped her head with her hand and rest her elbow on the table.
(Y/N) placed the pasta in front of Natasha after it was ready. She then walked out to the living room to find her white ragdoll cat, she sit down on the couch and called her. "Snowy came here." The white cat let out a miaow and climb on her lap. "Have you fed Snowy yet?" She caress Snowy back and looked at Natasha that munching her food.
"Yes, I fed her." She answers with a mouth full of food, (Y/N) gives her a look but Natasha just grins and swallows her food.
After a few seconds of silence, (Y/N) answered "Okay, I will come" (Y/N) let out a sigh and Snowy in her lap begin to purring when she stroked her back. Natasha jumps up from her seat. "Really!?" Her shout-out startled Snowy and make her jump from (Y/N) lap. Natasha rose to her feet and runs toward (Y/N), she bends down to hug her"you're the best. I'll pick you up at 8" she pull back and turns back to her seat and continues eating her food.
****
When (Y/N) got back from the party, she goes straight to her bedroom. She removed her earrings and make-up, and changed to her nightgown, when she sit in front of her vanity, she let out a sigh. She touches her face and examines them in the mirror. Why she can't get old? That's the question she always asked every year, she can't bear seeing someone close to her die. She is tired of mourning, she is tired of running away, she is tired of hiding, she misses people calling her by her real name, not pretending to be someone else, and she is tired when she can't become herself. She just wants her life back. She looked over her vanity where the black and white photo sat in the grey frame. The photo is of her and Lorraine embracing each other.
She misses her daughter, she misses her husband, she misses her mother, but all of them already leaving her, lonely, here.
***
"Happy Birthday, my darling" (Y/N) bends down to place a bouquet of flowers on top of the grave. It's been three days since the Military Party.
She looked at the name that was engraved on the headstone.
'Lorraine Joanne Williams-Trace'
She wipe the tears that got fallen on her cheek, she rose to her feet and stared at the grave.
"Diana.." A voice behind her startled her, she turn around and face the latter.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you" He apologized and approached her.
"It's okay Lieutenant" She turn back to the Grave, he stood beside her.
"Call me Bradley, I'm not wearing uniform now" She turns to look at his outfit, a black suit with no tie. She nodded and turn back to look at the grave. "So, who are you visiting.?" Bradley nodded his head to the grave in front of them.
"My grandmother, it was her birthday today," She told him.
"Oh. Can I give her flowers?" Bradley lifts the sunflower in his hand and waves it in front of her.
"Sure" She nodded at him. She looked when he kneeled on the ground, Bradley the man that saved her from some creep at the party three days ago, the first time she saw him, he captivated her heart. But she can't let her heart fall again for a man, not after the last time. The guilt still crawls into her chest from now on.
Bradley then kneel to place the flower on top of the grave "I hope you like it" he then looked over to the grave beside Lorraine, he saw they have the same last name. "And beside her it was.." he turn to her.
"Her husband" Diana shrugs. Her heart was warm with his actions.
"Oh shoot, I just have one flower" Bradley shot her an apologetic look.
Diana smiled and wave him off "It's okay Bradley, I think he would understand. It was his wife's birthday today" she shrug.
"Sorry pop, but next time I'll give ya flower too" He pats the grave next to Lorraine. Bradley then rose to his feet."So, you still want to stay or are you done here?" He looked at her.
"I'm done in here" Diana then turn around and walked away from the grave, Bradley doing the same and walking beside her. "Okay, let me walk with you"
They walked side by side towards the gate "So, who are you visiting?" Diana asked, breaking the silence between them.
"My mom, it was her anniversary with my dad today. After I visit my dad, I drove here to visit my mom" he glance at her slightly while he talking.
"Oh, they are not in the same cemetery?" She glances at him. She know how it feels to lose the last family you have.
"No, my dad's buried in Fort Rosecrans" Bradley pursed his lip. Diana nodded, she then stopped and place a hand on his bicep. "I'm sorry for your loss". Bradley looked at her hand. When she's aware of what she's doing, she retreats her hand back and begins to walk again. It was a common gesture for her, but she didn't want to give him the wrong signal, no, she will move out of this town. She can't involves with a normal human again.
Dust of pink colour paints his cheeks, a bit embarrassed. He clears his throat. "It's okay, they've been gone for years now. My dad died when I was four, and my mom when I'm still in high school. And since then I live with my uncle" he shrugs casually. "Enough about me, what about you?" He glances at Diana, they step into the stairs that make from stone.
"Well I live with my uncle, my parents are long gone, and after I graduated from college, I move out and ended up here" she shrugged, they stopped at the curb and Diana called out for a cab. She's not lying, it's true, except who they truly are.
"You know last time we met I asked for your number right" Bradley stood in front of her.
Diana furrowed her eyebrows and nodded. "Yes.." That night is still fresh in her mind, never in her life, saw someone jump into a moving car just to get her number.
"Umm... Can I get that know" He hesitates a bit, he rocks his feet back and forth on the pavement and glances at her. Nervous, waiting for her answer.
"The answer is still no, Lieutenant" she glanced at him and shake her head.
Bradley let out a groan, he shoved his hands in his suit pocket "No, It's Bradley, not the Lieutenant again." He groans. "C'mon, it feels right when you call me Bradley"
Diana smile and shake her head "The answer is still no, Bradley"
"Why, though? It's like fate, you know, we met again in the middle of nowhere, where you can bump with any other guy but instead, you met with me. Like when we met in that party where you can meet with another guy or that creepy guy, instead you met with me" He articulate. He didn't mean to bring up that incident, he actually want to talk to her that night. But that creepy guy forces her like that making him want to punch him. Besides, she requested to be alone that night, so he take his shot at the elevator.
"And I'm glad I met you because you save me from him" she nodded to him.
"See, I save you, so this is fate right" he jutted his hand toward her. Diana looked around and saw a cab approach her. She turns to him while the cab begins to drive toward her.
Diana cock an eyebrow at him "Why do you so believe in fate?" Because if it was fate that make her like this, she hate them. They are like a curse to her. They hey make her go through so much pain. This fate that she hates so much.
"Because fate brought me to you," he said softly and stared into her eyes. Diana looked at his eyes and it was like she was back in the 80s, she stared at his eyes until the cab honked and snapped her from staring. She then opens the back seat and climbs into it. Before she can close the window, Bradley places his hands on the cab door.
He bends down to her eye level."Hey, how about this, if we meet again in a random place or bump into each other, you have to agree to go on date with me? And of course, give me your number" He suggested.
"Why I should agree with that?" She cocked her eyebrows to him. This man never gives up.
"Because you don't believe in fate, and I do believe in them" he shrugged. Diana think for a second and let out a sigh and nodded "Okay"
Bradley looked at her wide eyes "Wait you agree!?" He then stands up properly, "Okay, shoot. Until we meet again, Diana" he waves at her.
Diana smiled "Goodbye Lieutenant" she close the window and told the cab driver to drive away. She wishes they didn't meet again because if they meet again, she would fall for his charm.
"It's Bradley! Bradshaw!" Bradley called out, but the cab had already driven away, leaving him alone standing on the pavement.
***
Diana walked beside the shelf to find the book she wanted. When she walked to the fiction section, she saw a familiar figure resting his shoulder on the shelf and casually opening one of the books, he looked straight at her. "So, about that date, what about Friday?" Bradley gives him a side smile. Diana shakes her head and lets out a chuckle.

AITAF’s 11th Annual Broadway Show
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s surreal that this was my second year attending and I’m sitting here typing up a second recap! It hardly feels like a whole year has passed since last November, as the time has been so full of Adam and SW-related joy. After last night’s show, Sarah (the same friend I adventured to TIFF with) and I reflected that following/loving Adam has brought us so many extraordinary experiences we would never have sought out otherwise. Attending military-oriented events and creating stronger ties with the veterans and service members in each of our lives, traveling to Toronto (and shortly to London!!) together, and cultivating the most unlikely and incredible friendships. It’s been an eye-opening, whirlwind year of new and wonderful experiences - chief among which was sitting in a theatre largely full of military personnel and having each of my preconceived stereotypes challenged.
The group I gathered with outside the American Airlines theatre was even bigger than last year. We had my friends Sarah and MP ( @reylonly), my dad who usually abhors the “veteran” label and yet - to his own surprise - confessed to being deeply moved by last year’s show, a retired Army nurse and her husband, a cousin I hadn’t seen in ages who’s currently enlisted, and her two friends from the army. Our sizable group was first to queue up outside the theatre, with more than plenty to talk and catch up about while we waited.
(Fun/Amusing Fact: That enlisted cousin I hadn’t seen in ages? We reconnected ahead of this show when she messaged me on Facebook: “Hi! I heard from X family member that you like Adam Driver. I’ve attended AITAF performances before and I’ll be going to their NYC event, if you’d like to come as one of my guests?” Yes, that is my rep spreading through the family and you bet I’m proud. :’’))
We thought we had an idea what to expect from last year, but this year’s show surprised and took us off guard in almost every way.
After entering the theatre and passing right by Joanne (looking hella fierce in a fitted tweed suit), we headed up to the reception. Here came a surprise I was personally AMPED about!! While MP, Sarah, and I waited to go in the photo booth they had, we saw Scott Burns and Daniel Jones come into the reception area! I explained a bit in my TIFF recap post about how The Report (aside from being just a stellar film) really engaged me personally because not only do I have a human rights-related job, but the Executive Director of my non-profit is also renowned for being one of the first high-ranking whistleblowers against the CIA torture program when he previously worked in the Department of Defense. His name is Alberto Mora and after I heard Scott Burns namecheck him in several interviews, I talked to Alberto about his involvement in the film. From that conversation with Alberto came the idea to arrange a staff screening of the film, given its relevance to our nonprofit’s mission. In addition to seeing the film at TIFF, I also had the chance through work to attend the DC premiere of the film last week, attended by human rights advocates, House Representatives, and Senators (most depicted in the film - including Diane Feinstein herself!) who were all clearly riveted by the film and the discussion with Scott Burns and Dan Jones that followed. SO (sorry for this digression but I’M STILL SO EXCITED BY THIS) when I saw Dan Jones mingling, I practically started vibrating with everything I wanted to say to him.
After psyching myself up and angsting with MP for a minute (“But it’s gotta be the right time - I don’t want to interrupt him!”) I went over and introduced myself to Dan Jones, saying I’d been at the DC premiere of the film last week and how powerful the evening had been. Long story short - omg what a chill and approachable guy to talk to! I explained quickly that I work with Alberto and I’ve been looking into arranging a screening, to which Dan said he’d “absolutely love” to help with! He told me how to contact him and holy shiiiit now this definitely has to happen!!
So after that reception highlight, we ate a little more cheese and fancy crackers before heading downstairs to the theater and our seats. And there we needed to hold onto our hats and strain to remain chill, because like some Adam-related VIP guest list, we brushed shoulders with Noah Baumbach and Laura Dern as we entered the theater! WHATTT!! It certainly made my heart glad to see so many of these high-profile collaborators of Adam’s supporting him and taking an interest in his non-profit work. And just to see that they’re all friends even off set!
This year’s choice of play, A Raisin In The Sun, immediately set a much different tone than last year’s True West. While last year included a cast of only 4, with Adam and Michael Shannon lifting the majority of the performance as the brothers-at-odds Lee and Austin; this year included a cast of 9 almost exclusively African American actors, who would share the stage in a rotating balance. But before anything else... the show began with AITAF’s Director giving a rundown of their recent and upcoming programming, before she introduced Adam to speak. Annnnd out onto the stage he strode in a black suit and tie (pushing the boundaries of fashion for real) looking so striking and handsome my brain and heart jumped into an overdrive race with each other alsdfjslfjalsdfj :’)))) (Yes, the first moment when I see him in person still makes my heart fly up into my throat.) Most of the audience tried to leap to their feet to give him a standing ovation, before Adam quickly made some slightly panicked abortive hand gestures and everyone sat back down. We were seated so close to the stage that that proximity was really the best kind of intense <3333
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First of all, I want to assure everyone that our bb does look like he’s gained some weight back. I think his face looked a bit more filled out than at TIFF (and boy did he fill out that suit just right). Adam recognized all of the active service people and veterans in the audience, thanked the actors and AITAF staff for making the evening possible, and gave his background speech on AITAF’s purpose, journey, and mission. He also spoke a bit about the play that was selected this year, quickly adding “I’ll let the play speak for itself rather than butchering it with my interpretation.” Everyone laughed and my heart was only barely beating under the adoration because at the same time I was getting such a good look at just how big he is, being so close... Not only the height, but the shoulders in the suit and the giant hands that fly around when he’s talking, then he stuffed his hands into his pockets for part of his speech and that just made him look taller and more attractive and alsdkfjalskdjf sir you should really take my health into consideration a little bit!!! ;___;
Fangirl feels meltdowns aside, there were a lot of other beautiful things happening on that stage. It was stirring to listen to Adam introduce the cast (and pronounce all of their names correctly, thank you) with all the deference this play deserves and a cast to do it full justice. In a setting where the audience was largely comprised of a military demographic that is often considered to embody more conservative values, it was poignant to see Adam using his platform in AITAF to push the narratives further and confront the audience directly - not with what separates people, but to draw out the humanity that makes us all so very alike. That is, after all, AITAF’s guiding mission.
Skipping ahead for a quick moment - one of the actors in the talk-back after the performance brought up how difficult it had been to fund this play when it was first produced in 1959 because investors feared it was “too black” and wouldn’t resonate with audiences. Last night was the most blatant demonstration of how close-minded such fears were, as the almost three-hour long reading kept the audience entirely enthralled, caught up in the humor and the heartbreak and the enduring human spirit that keeps the Younger family’s pride and love for each other in tact; then followed by audience members standing up to share deeply personal and candid accounts of how they saw their own struggles with searching for identity and purpose between military-civilian spheres, and their own experiences of trauma reflected in these complex, lively characters.
As much as I so enjoyed internally flipped my shit completely getting to hear Adam speak in person at the beginning, it made me more proud than ever to love him as I do when I watched him step back and pass the stage and spotlight to an insanely talented cast of color. AITAF is a force and space that aims for all voices to be heard, and Adam appeared only just enough to underscore and enable that last night.
I hope I’ve already made the point that the cast were simply phenomenal. This year’s performance felt completely different than last year’s in terms of the energy and mood. Last year, Adam and Michael Shannon filled two hours with simmering frustration and aggression that grows increasingly outrageous until it culminates in violence. Adam and Michael moved freely around the stage a lot. I’ll never forget Adam doing handstands, collapsing to his knees right at the front of the stage and his lush long hair falling everywhere (UGH <3), Adam yelling about toast and stealing TVs, barking like a coyote, and finally choking Michael in the final scene. This year, the 9-person-strong cast barely moved from behind their script stands, and yet the emotional impact they delivered was simply stunning. The immediacy of this reading-style performance is just incomparable. I do see a lot of theatre and really enjoy the medium, but watching actors like last night’s cast put on a performance that’s completely uninhibited - completely instinctive and raw - was simply unforgettable. It cuts straight to the emotional core and deepest layer of meaning within the material and the characters. There is nothing between the audience and the existence of these characters’ lives, and the actors lost themselves in the roles completely. It was simply breathtaking to watch, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to witness it. Falling in to the Adam bandwagon truly enriched my life in ways I could never have expected
While on the topic of things I couldn’t have expected: Chief among them would be (to be painfully honest) voluntarily attending an event geared for military audiences - and even less enjoying and feeling moved by every second of it. I should probably clarify that although my Dad is a National Guard vet, he rarely speaks about the experience because he was drafted straight out of high school. The memories aren’t easy for him when he knows how close he could have been to being sent to Vietnam; alongside (he admitted to me for the first time following last year’s AITAF show) some amount of guilt towards the friends who were sent and lost their lives. My Dad has never embraced the veteran identity - he felt neither a right nor an affinity to it - and a military settings isn’t one I ever pictured myself feeling comfortable in. And yet, a single AITAF performance was enough to achieve their goal in my heart of building bridges and highlighting commonalities between military and civilian spheres. The military identify is multifaceted, and attending last year’s performance was enough for my Dad to unlock some new acceptance or understanding of that aspect of his own identity. It seemed to let him think of that period in his life in ways beyond antipathy or guilt. It was at least enough for him to open up and speak more candidly to me about his experience than ever before.
This year’s Q&A was moving, deeply personal, and at times painful. And yet there was truly no better showcase for how a shared experience of theatre can serve to knock down all barriers that might have existed between people when they entered that theatre only hours before.
Highlights:
A man who recently ended his service spoke about how much he connected to the character of Walter Lee in the play. Like Walter, he too feels restless and unfulfilled in his (civilian) job, always feeling like he should be striking out for something more meaningful, something bigger, and never feeling right in his current place. For the audience member, this resonated with his own struggle to find meaning in his civilian life as he navigates the transition of leaving the military. This moved the actor who played Walter Lee (Colman Domingo, who had been TERRIFIC - I mean full-on crying several times throughout the reading) to speak about the personal inspirations and experiences he brought to embodying the character for this setting. Namely, trying to support his veteran older brother’s struggle with drug addiction. As Colman spoke candidly about how the experience with his brother had seeped into his performance, at least two other cast members dabbed tears from their eyes.
The most emotionally difficult and yet moving moment shared throughout the whole theater. A man in the balcony asked for advice on finishing a play that he began writing as a means of trying to process and work through unresolved trauma he experienced in combat zones while deployed. He explained with something of a despairing tremble in his voice that he’s reached a point where he feels emotionally blocked - where confronting the memories of comrades dying in his arms simply freezes him and he can’t seem to move any further. The theater was silent as he had to pause speaking for a moment, audibly overcome for a moment in the effort of speaking and sharing this aloud. Since the speaker was up in the balcony too far back for me to see, I was watching the cast and AITAF team on stage. Being so close, I thought I saw something visibly pass over Adam’s face. Later that evening, the cousin I just reconnected with at this event was the one to bring it up unprompted when she asked, “Did you see his eyes when the man was talking about his struggle to write?” So yes, it’s confirmed, I wasn’t imagining that Adam visibly choked up for a moment listening to this audience member. After the commenter was able to finish speaking, a few cast members responded. Adam, after being silent for most of the Q&A, then held his hand out for a mic and spoke up, telling the audience member something like, “In a way, you’re already doing it. You’re already writing. You’re already processing. I don’t think anyone knows what they’re setting out to write or how it will take shape until they do. But you’re already doing the hardest part.” Then, in a touching moment of connection, another audience member spoke up about a veteran writing group he’s involved with whose members seek to do exactly the same thing. The safe space the questioner was so dearly seeking did, in fact, already exist, and the people were there in that theatre to help guide him towards it.
I didn’t think anything could have equaled my experience at AITAF’s 10th Anniversary show last year - and yet, last night was every bit as powerful of a performance, followed by a Q&A discussion in which audience members bared revelatory vulnerabilities and saw their own struggles through the eyes of others. My group went to a late dinner afterwards, where we continued discussing the performance, the dialogues thereafter, AITAF’s work in general, and (my favorite) gendered attitudes and embedded patriarchal norms within military settings and how AITAF challenges these norms even while being forced to work within them.
It was an evening of connections of all types - between people, experiences, and insights. I can’t laud AITAF enough for enabling such valuable and productive exchange, and I hope to experience much more of their work in the future.
(And if performed with a showcase or even a side of Adam, that would be even better! <3)

Congrats To The Grammys For Finally Getting Their Rock & Metal Category Figured Out
Tumblr media
Following a pretty up-and-down rollercoaster ride the past few years, the Recording Academy has seemingly gotten their stuff together when it comes to their rock and metal categories.
After dealing with an embarrassing year last year where Avenged Sevenfold publically called out the prestigious institution for their lack of support to the metal community, apparently, someone at the Academy was paying attention as this year’s nominees might be one of their best in quite some time.
For Best Metal Performance, the Grammys see a lot of new faces including Between The Buried And Me, Deafheaven, High On Fire and Trivium as well as scene staples Underoath (Underoath were previously nominated back in 2006 for Best Short Form Music Video).
As for Best Rock Performance, previous nominees like Arctic Monkeys, Cris Cornell (rest in peace) and Halestorm are accompanied by the likes of Greta Van Fleet and, surprisingly and well-deserved, FEVER 333.
Another fantastic nomination comes in the Best Rock Song category. Sandwiched between well-known household names like Ghost, Twenty One Pilots, and St. Vincent is Bring Me The Horizon and, for the second time, Greta Van Fleet.
All in all, as much as we bash on award shows for their lack of support towards our hard rock and metal community, this year the Grammys got it right. Were there other artists that deserved a nomination? Of course there were. But considering how things have been in the past (Leonard Cohen Best Rock Performance 2018, Beyonce Best Rock Performance nominee 2017, Tenacious D Best Metal Performance 2015, etc.), we’ll take it.

BOOTYLEGS (updated nov 22 2021)
Hello! Here’s a list of my bootlegs. They are all video, the ones which are audio are specified.
If there’s only the title of the show then I don’t know which cast it is (sorry).
I’m willing to gift these but  trading is appreciated!
If I gift you a bootleg PLEASE consider donating something to my Ko-Fi, I’m putting away some money for University, and your donation no matter how small can really help me out!
If we are trading send me your list and I would appreciate it if you sent your bootleg first.
If you want any of these MESSAGE ME, also be nice, i won’t give you anything if you are rude so please keep that in mind.
I might not always be able to answer, so just wait, if more than 2 days pass write again.
PLEASE be specific about the bootlegs you want.
*All shows starting with “the” are under the letter T*
Thank you :)

The crisp leaves crunched underneath Noah’s and Y/n’s feet as they walked along a path. The October air was filled with scents of pumpkin spice and caramel apples and hay, the perfect setting for a Fall Fair. Little cutouts of ghosts and skeletons and fall vegetation decorated every stall, and little kids ran back and forth, freshly painted art on their cheeks.
Looking down at the path, you see a large building with a sign advertising a haunted house. There’s a line of people, and the distant sounds of screams make you smile in anticipation.
“Noah, look!” You nod your chin towards the spooky building, smiling wide.
Noah feels his stomach twist when he sees the haunted house; no matter how many horror games he may have played, it never makes it any easier. But you’re already dragging him into the line, and your excitement is contagious.
“Are you sure about this Y/n?” He swallows hard as you both step through the entrance, mere steps away from the horror within.
You look back at Noah, squeezing his hand gently. “Yeah, it’ll be fine.”
Together you both start the tour, climbing up the creaky grand staircase. Both of you feel the hairs on your arms raise up as whispering fills the air, and as you reach the top the lights go out. You stop abruptly, just wanting to make sure you don’t trip, but Noah takes it to mean that you are scared. Trying to stay close to you, he carefully walks down the hallway, a singular green light casting a glow on everything.
Portraits on the walls seem to follow you as you walk, and you whip your head back and forth, trying to take them all in. Noah, walking behind you, puts his warm hands on your shoulders, a gentle reminder that he is there. You smile at his sweetness, but you aren’t even close to being scared.
At the end of the hallway, an old door creaks open slightly, the green light leaving the hallway and reappearing behind the door. You walk forward, and just as your hand pushes against the door, it flings open and a figure jumps out at you. It’s face is grotesque and distorted, and stringy hair hangs all over. It’s long fingers reach out for you, hovering over your face.
Both you and Noah scream, but before you have time to react any further, suddenly he is pushing you behind him, Noah’s hands wrapped around you. “You stay away from by girl!” You see his shoulders visibly shaking, but still he stands between you and the monster.
Quickly pull Noah back away from the door and the costumed actor. “Babe, it’s okay, he’s not real.”
Your boyfriend puts his hands on your face, pressing a kiss to your forehead. “I don’t want you to be scared, I’m here to protect you.”
Softly you laugh, looking at your sweet and adoring lover. “I’m not scared Noah; I love horror stuff, this is barely anything to me. I’m pretty much desensitized.”
Shock passes over Noah’s face. “Wha- how??? This place is totally creepy. I’m terrified.”
“I dunno” you shrug. “It’s just kinda my thing.”
“Alright, good to know.” Noah shakes his head in disbelief. “Well then my queen of spooky, shall we continue.”
You hesitate, concerned about your boyfriend. “Are you sure you want to continue? It’s okay if you’re scared.”
“Oh I’m terrified, but I’ll be okay if you hold my hand.” Noah gives you his best pleading eyes, his hand reached out to you.
You intertwine your fingers with his and kiss his knuckles. “Always.”
