What I find strange is that la mif know that Lola was crying the other day, and saw how Maya is hurt. So why they are so sure itâs « over over ». Like Bilal talked about How Lola will be with someone else, Redouane saying that Maya should meet new people.
Can they just say « you could talk and makes things better between the two of you, as you both hurting right now ».
Idk the break up seems so definitive. And imo Lola is appearing as the bad guy because no one seems to know that she broke up with Maya because she didnât felt loved. Jo witnessing Lola saying hurting things to Maya, Tiff and Max saw the panic attacksâŠ
Also they portraying the relation as toxic, as a spectator itâs hard to root for Mayla relationship since they are fighting since season 7 and donât seems to know how to communicate.
this is longggg so i did a readmore but iâm on mobile so it might not work lol. i basically disagree with everything here, sorry đ
âwhy are they so sure itâs overâŠwhy not suggest they talkâ they literally already have? whilst maya doesnât even accept the trailer breakup happened, la mif spend all of ep1 accepting it happened but thinking itâs temporary and can be undone. thereâs a clip where max says he doesnât want them to end up like his parents (divorced) and suggests maya texts lola. then thereâs an entire clip dedicated to jo, again, telling maya she needs to reach out. when they discuss it at ping pong, theyâre being light and casual. itâs only after ep1, when lola texts the group chat saying itâs over, that they take it more seriously. and what are they supposed to do then? push maya to ignore lolaâs boundaries? sheâs doing that by herself shsjsks
i donât think theyâre portraying lola as the bad guy. i donât think anyoneâs been shown as the definitive bad guy tbh. yes, mayaâs issues are the major cause of this breakup, but i think the narrativeâs been empathetic to her by immersing you in her POV. the whole âwe know something maya doesnâtâ thing works really well with that: we know not texting lola wonât end good, but maya thinks she just needs to offer time/space, and so we feel sorry for her, etc. the clement study clip is the most extreme mayaâs been (biphobia, showing up uninvited, being insulting and dismissive). i think having lola react as she did in ep2âs finale was basically their way of balancing the scales of âtoxicnessâ and saying that whilst sheâs shown immense growth from s6, she still has a lot to learn: she had every right to be mad (maya just insulted her in public days ago, sheâs under the assumption that maya is now interfering with her family by spreading lies), but she couldâve paused when maya denied the thierry thing and heard her out. she couldâve not cut maya off. she didnât, and i donât think any conversation they had that night wouldâve been productive anyways, but likeâŠtheyâre both flawed people lol. idk what to say. i think how they both act in arguments is incredibly in-character and doesnât make them the bad guy. weâre only seeing jo/tiff/max see just the maya side of things bc of the pov format, but we know theyâre still friends with lola and, like in the fence clip, are defending her and mostly think mayaâs in the wrong. and yet! they havenât actually taken sides! theyâre treating both of them with kindness! la mif clearly donât think thereâs a bad guy either (the point of bilalâs comment on lola dating other people was more about mayaâs biphobia imo, and the panic attack tiffax witnessed is also not entirely about her relationship either but thatâs another topic lol).
âas a spectator itâs hard to root for themâ i think this is an individual thing tbh, bc i donât find it hard to root for them at all. i mean do i want them back together in this episode? absolutely not lol. any relationship they would have rn would be unhealthy as hell, which is what weâre seeing, and is why theyâve broken up. the show is literally saying love and history isnât enough: both of them need to work on things, process their issues, seek help, learn to communicate better and exist without each other etc etc before a relationship would work. as for it seeming definitive: i canât tell the future but i just donât understand why anyone thinks they wonât be endgame lmao. i mean i wouldnât even mind that much if they stayed friends and i still think theyâre endgame. apart from s1 which was following the eva blueprint, when has skamfr not had an endgame? they brought back the old gen in s7 just to confirm an endgame (arthur/noee) and create another (alexia/new bf) lol. this is the first LI season, and their current most popular couple, and the writers love cheesy romantic moments. even if itâs rushed as hell, even if it doesnât feel earned and is written terribly, theyâre going to be endgame đ youâre free to feel however you want about that.
