Okay I know nobody is invested in the story like I am but here’s some facts about the story I’m working on
🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒
Background: this is all being based around the Muppets mayhem show and that canon. ( yes I know muppets doesn’t have crucial canon but I’m using this show as a base ) the character that’s most focus on is cherry, which I post about a lot on here. However, how she’s even involved in the story is because of…
How cherry becomes involved: when the mayhem is going on tour, Penny points out that they don’t have an opening act. Nora agrees, saying that they need to find somebody. Hannah gives her opinion and says hey, there is this rising star her name is Cherry maybe we can try to sign her on the tour? Everyone seems to be on board with this, but doesn’t know where to start but luckily enough, Penny knows cherry on a very personal level. So to put it into simpler terms… penny, basically tells Cherry that she’s going to go on tour with the mayhem, because… she’s like her aunt kinda? So Cherry goes.
Facts about the story that are important to keep in mind:
• teeth, and Penny are still in a relationship during this time
• Cherry has her own band named wild cherry! The leader singer is obvi Cherry she also does guitar. The drummer is named Joana Cherrys best friend. And idk what Lucas plays but he’s also in the band.
• with the mayhem I kind of grouped them together, with who I think would be close friends based in the story * obviously the whole band is but * Nora and Janice are close gal pals. Moog gets kind of close with Floyd and teeth as well. Obvi zoot and lips are close BUT I think animal has a close kin ship with zoot :3
• Cherrys childhood is touched on so here’s a brief on that: how is she even was able to get into? The music scene is because she’s been in that scene her whole life. Her biological dad had a rock band back in the 60s and when she was born he literally didn’t want to be a father. So she was kind of stuck going whatever they went the drummer in the band ( named Pete ) through out Cherrys, whole life raised her. To cut it kind of shorter with the band drama Pete gets custody of Cherry when she’s 12 and the band breaks up for good. It’s a media shit show type of ordeal. Raising cherry besides, Pete is his brother named Will. They’re both probably in their mid - late 60s. Pete is a shag dog muppet and will is a poodle muppet who’s a lawyer. ( I think one brother being a hippie drummer and the other being a lawyer is so funny ) this is just base info
• even though I post about teeth and cherry a lot it’s a very slow burn story between the two. It’s a lot of subconscious feelings at first that get pointed out later by characters in the story.
• I will be pointing out the mayhem’s family ex: Floyd’s parents etc. I don’t really have any base ideas on this so if anyone has any ideas if they’re reading this, shoot me a message I’m willing to hear anything I don’t really know what to add for family or more lore within the band.
• penny, breaks up with teeth when she catches the vibe that he has feelings for cherry she’s very angry for a lot of reasons obviously, but she never drops him from the label, but she definitely ponders this. But she doesn’t want to discipline everyone else because he’s being “himself” in her eyes
• since this is based on the Muppet mayhem show I will be adding things that I wish I saw on the show. Ex: zoot will have a lot more talking lines and lips as well!
• so much more but- IM NOT GONNA CLOG UR TL
🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒🍒
So yeah that’s fun XD

GABRIELA SARACEN || bio
age: 24 occupation: west end actor (currently playing janice in mean girls) relationship status: single about:
the household that gabriela was brought up with was loud and full of love. she was from a big family so the household was always full of noise and no-one ever really got a moments peace. while gaby didn’t think it was the worst thing in the world, as soon as she was able too, she moved out. she lives on her own now and that’s absolutely how she likes it. she gets her quiet and if she needs more, she goes home. she has the best of both worlds.
although some people would call gabriela mean, she just says that she says things how she sees them. she has never really seen the point in not being honest with people. if you ask her a question, she will tell you what you need to hear and not what she thinks that you want to hear. she will make her opinion known, always. people liken her to her grandmother annabelle in that sense.
even though there is kindness in her heart, gabriela has cheated on every single one of her boyfriends. she just finds herself getting bored - at least that’s what she tells herself. if you dug down deep enough, you would see that gabriela was raised by a couple that was so in love. they were the real, perfect love story. they had been teenage sweethearts, married at 18 and started their family at 19. although she would never admit it - she doesn’t really realise it herself - gabriela wants that. she cheats on the boys that she has been with because she doesn’t think that they will give her what she needs. she gets wrapped up in someone else and then hurts the person that she was previously seeing. she bounces from boy to boy.
gabrielas role model has always been her ‘aunt’ emilie. she loves seeing how confident the other woman is, how she never lets anyone give her shit and that’s always what gabriela has wanted to be. she would spend as much of her time as she could with emilie, growing up. emilie taught gabriela how to cook - which is still something that they enjoy to do together now. they meet at least once a week for dinner, together.
when gabriela got her place at moutview, she was absolutely over the moon and threw herself into her schooling. she wanted to make sure that she absolutely deserved her position at drama school and she did just that. just before gabriela graduation, she got herself an agent and has been working just as hard outside of school, as she was in. she wants to make it so badly. since leaving drama school, she has never really stopped working. she went straight into the ensemble of fame while also understudying the mabel. she then went onto tracy turnblads understudy in hairspray and was there for almost two years - she took up the full time share of the title role in the second half of her second year. her biggest break, though, came when she was cast as janice in the uk debut of mean girls. it was the first time that she didn’t start out as an understudy and she is so excited to show people what she is made off - especially with janice not necessarily having to be a fat character. she feels like she has really earnt this one.
despite her industry having a huge bias against it, gabriela has never really cared about the fact that she is fat. she is determined to break the stereotype and show that absolutely anyone - of any shape or size - can play any role. including the romantic lead. she knows that she’s pretty and she’s confident in herself. she doesn’t let anyone bring her down.

Jonathan and Nancy are both still separated, they call each other every night missing each other too much and then one day he suddenly asks her to marry him (still on the phone)
(I know this isn’t where they moved to but I picked it Because for the sake of fanfic and until the show tells us where they moved to.... this is it) also it’s long and maybe not that well written and maybe not what you wanted!?
Here you go!
Spring of 1986 was upon them, some days, it didn’t feel very different from Hawkins. He worked a job in the small town, he went to school, kept to himself and came home to his family. it was routine and he was used to it by now. It was almost easy.
Accept it wasn’t Hawkins, it was a town in New York State. It was a massive change and in many ways the people felt the same as any small town. But it was interesting being in a place where no one knew you... no one even suspected what you could have been through.
There was an eagerness in him though, he’d be graduating soon, done with high school and onto... well he wasn’t quiet sure what he was going to do when it came to collage, not yet anyway.
The one thing he looked forward to, when he got home after work, school and life. After he said hello to Will and El and then gave his mom a quick kiss on the head while she was in the kitchen making dinner (if he got home early enough or she got home early enough) he’d make his way back to his room, toss his backpack onto the chair in the corner and settle against the headboard before he picked up the phone in his room and started to dial number he knew by heart.
It had cost a little more and he paid for the whole phone bill anyway, but it was worth it to have his own phone in his room, it was still a single line and El would on occasion pick up the other phone and interrupt his calls, but he didn’t mind.
He needed this.
Today had been a hard day at work, hard day at school. He couldn’t wait. There was always this mix of anxiety in his tummy when he called her. When he heard the rings, there was a worry she wouldn’t answer. And shockingly she’d never missed their dates. He usually called due to his job and his hours being all over the place, but she always picked up. he was oddly enough always around when she called him.
Fortunately this time wasn’t different.
“Hello,” her soft voice floated through the phone, he quickly dropped his head back against the wall and let out a soft sigh.
“Hello to you to.” he replied gently.
There was always some relief when he spoke to her, no matter their moods, she soothed him, made him feel whole.
“How was your day?” Nancy asked gently.
“Oh you know, work sucked, my boss decided to be real jerk today... his son, who also works there is lazy and an idiot... can’t do the job for nothing, but his dad always takes it out on me, as if I’m the one who’s supposed to fix everything he does.” Jonathan grumbled. This was a constant thing, but he was almost used to it by now.
“I’m sorry, he needs to fire his son... or can’t you fire him? Aren’t you the assistant manager?” Nancy asked, she said it a little proudly.
Jonathan chuckled, “yes, Jonathan Byers, assistant manager of Crowley’s Hardware Store... I’m a force to be reckoned with...” there was humor there, but that also reminded him that although his boss was a jerk. He did promote him and keep him around because he was good at his job.
“You are a force to be reckoned with,” Nancy replied softly.
Jonathan made a soft grunt into the phone, “how about your day?” He asked.
He could hear Nancy lick her lips, knew she was about to drop some bombshell on him. “Well I heard back from all of my schools... and I got into them,” Nancy only paused a moment to tell him this.
Jonathan felt a combination of anxiety, nervousness and excitement. “Wow, holy shit Nancy that’s... congrats... which one are you picking?” He asked.
Nancy took a deep breath. “Non of them.” Nancy replied.
Jonathan was frozen, he was first anticipating hearing her say she picked Florida State or something far abs weird like that... but this shocked him. “Wait... what?” He asked. This was confusing he thought she couldn’t wait to get out of Hawkins. “I thought you couldn’t wait to get outta there...”
“That’s still true! But I just can’t see myself going to college... not right now...” she said it softly.
Jonathan sat up more on the bed, “so you’re taking a break year?” He asked. He knew some did that, took a year to travel and figure stuff out before college.
Nancy sounded excited, “Yes, I already talked to my mom and then my dad and they were a little disappointed but I got my mom on my side, she understands.” Nancy said.
Jonathan smiled softly. “That’s amazing. It’s funny, I was thinking about doing that myself... work full time before... stuff like that.” He replied in sort of a fast murmur. There was a part of him worried, he wasn’t sure where he fit into her future plans anymore.
“Yeah I was thinking about a job or travel or something like that,” Nancy said.
Jonathan modded, But she couldn’t see him, “you’ll always be a phone call away.” He let it slip out.
There was a longer pause on her end and he wondered if he had said something wrong. he really didn’t know where he fit into her future plans. “I mean assuming you want to be, I understand if you want to be free or something while you travel, get your life sorted,” he said it all quickly.
“Jonathan,” she started to say, cutting him off, he was grateful she did, “I was thinking about moving to New York,” Nancy replied.
Jonathan was confused again, “city?” He asked.
Nancy laughed lightly, “maybe?”
“Oh that would be...” he didn’t know what it would be like, she’d be closer, well not half days long trip, he could see her more often, she could visit more often.
“Yeah it will be interesting, I’ve been looking up some jobs at the papers there, not New York Times but some magazines and some smaller papers.. And of course not journalism but jobs to get me in the door.” Nancy said.
Jonathan smiled, “That’s great Nancy, you’ll be running these places in a few months anyway.” He said gently.
Nancy paused again, “and I was thinking... if you wanted to, you could move in with me,” she said it with some hesitation.
Jonathan’s smile slipped from his face, “wow really?” He asked confused.
Nancy giggled, “Yes, why wouldn’t I? Of course I want you to live with me,” Nancy whispered softly.
Jonathan smiled and warmed up a lot, “id love to live with you... make you breakfast... and dinner... you can’t cook so I’ll be making all the meals,” he started to say in a teasing tone.
Nancy giggled, “hey now... I make a mean bowl of cereal.”
“You poured the milk in first once and I never let you make your own bowl of cereal again...” he teased.
Nancy was quiet and he knew she stuck her tongue out at him over the phone, “but aside from you cooking, it would be fun to live together I think,” Nancy replied.
“Yeah, I think so... I would... really like that.” he said and his kind started to race with imagined futures.
“We could get a cute little place, even just a studio, we’d work and live there and work... I guess there’s a lot of working involved,” Nancy said.
Jonathan laughed, “Yeah, hey we could have our parents over, the kids,” he said it fondly, getting used to the idea.
“Sounds like we’re married,” Nancy laughed slightly.
Jonathan’s heart sped up, “do you wanna?” he asked, wow that sounded dumb.
Nancy stopped laughing, “do I wanna... what?” She asked.
“Get married... do you want to,” he asked again.
He could hear Nancy breathing, but he waited, “I mean... yes I want to get married...” she replied.
Jonathan felt too warm, “I want to marry you, Nancy.” He said it as clearly as he could.
“Now?” Nancy asked, there was humor in her tone, but she also sounded nervous.
“No I mean... I want to marry you... when we can do that, whenever...” he mumbled softly.
“Jonathan, you’re so cute, I love you... yes I want to marry you whenever as well,” she sounded serious and sweet.
Jonathan relaxed, “that was the worst proposal ever,” he laughed slightly.
Nancy giggled, “I don’t know, I kinda liked it.” She replied.
Jonathan smiled, “I love you... can’t wait to see you in two weeks,” he whispered.
“I’m so excited about seeing you again, counting down the days,” she replied.
There was a pause and Jonathan didn’t want the conversion to end, “hey you said you’d finish telling me about happened with Janice P and Ricky from the basketball team,” he reminded her.
Nancy laughed, “you really want me to tell you more about the Hawkins high drama that’s going on?”
Jonathan shrugged, “better then any tv show, plus I get to listen to you talk,” Jonathan replied.
So Nancy proceeding to tell about the latest drama, and they forgot about the distance and moving in together and marriage for just a little bit.

You may need additional software / hardware to take full advantage of the higher 24-bit high-res audio formats, but any music lover that has heard 16-bit vs 24-bit will tell you it's worth it! Software for Mac OS X ProStudioMasters offers the original studio masters - exactly as the artist, producers and sound engineers mastered them - for download, directly to you. When you listen to music on a CD or tracks purchased via consumer services such as iTunes, you are hearing a low-resolution version of what was actually recorded and mastered in the studio. High-resolution audio offers the highest-fidelity available, far surpassing the sound quality of traditional CDs. that's too much for me to comprehend and understand and I really want people to look at the musicalities of what we're putting out as far as the product and how good it is." I prefer albums in the ten to 12 (tracklist range), you know the 18 be too long sometime. "I was tryna' come up with a title for mad long and that what was kind of slowing me down 'cause I didn't want to make music off the wrong title. WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEKEND September 6, 2019 - LINDA RONSTADT: THE SOUND OF MY VOICE, SUPER SIZE ME 2: HOLY CHICKEN! and IT: CHAPTER TWO
Lots of COLONS -- there, you happy Edward Havens? :) -- in this week’s featured movies, huh?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e9d957a2abbc3f94bd3a092a23ff07d6/1710796c9256b85c-11/s540x810/13a7f42ca239b3a0a50d08345c5647a227421a47.jpg)
Although summer still has a couple weeks left according to a couple of my co-workers, the fall movie season officially starts this weekend, but before we get to the wide releases, I want to talk about the fantastic doc LINDA RONSTADT: THE SOUND OF MY VOICE (Greenwich Entertainment), which opens at New York’s Film Forum on Friday. Directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, this movie really surprised me, because I never considered myself a fan of Ronstandt, despite listening to a lot of AM Top 40 radio in the ‘70s – yes, I was alive back then. I know I don’t look it, but I’m old.
This movie gave me goosebumps hearing Ronstadt at the beginning of her career, the archival footage of her performances making it blatantly obvious how talented she was and why she became so popular, something that wasn’t nearly as evident hearing songs like “Blue Bayou” on the radio. What’s even more amazing about Ronstadt is that I didn’t hear about much of her work in the ‘80s, as she started doing more unconventional things like honoring the traditional Mexican music of her father. I mean, she was just an amazing artist but she started drifting away as MTV made major stars out of much less-talented singers. And then of course, there’s the Parkinson’s Disease that made it impossible for her to sing and kudos to the filmmakers for actually catching a rare singing moment with her family. This movie honestly got me quite teary-eyed as it went along, because you watch this amazing talent having her greatest asset taken away from her by this horrible illness.
Anyway, this is another music doc that I highly recommend checking out if it plays at a theater near you as it continues a long run of solid music docs we’ve been getting so far this year. (Oddly, David Crosby was supposed to be in this movie, too, but I don’t remember seeing him in it, but saw his credit at the end. Weird.)

Another doc opening in New York, L.A. and Chicago before expanding further on Sept. 13 is Morgan Spurlock’s SUPER SIZE ME 2: HOLY CHICKEN!... and yes, the irony of Spurlock still calling his movie something that includes the words “Me, too” in it is a little more than ironic, since it was the movement that took him down just a few weeks after the movie premiered at the Toronto Film Festival (which is where I first saw it). But honestly, Spurlock took himself out, as he came forward and admitted a few things from his own past, which basically got the movie dropped by YouTube Red, who had just bought it. Two years later and I’m not sure how I feel about the movie, but when I saw it back then, I thought it was a worthy successor to Spurlock’s Oscar-nominated film. This time around, Spurlock wants to set up a healthier fast food option, choosing a chicken sandwich place but also wanting to stick to some of the guidelines by making the chickens organic and free-range, something that he finds is more difficult than he initially thinks.
I generally like Morgan Spurlock’s docs, which generally includes himself as a personality, similar to the work of his peer Michael Moore, but Spurlock doesn’t always make super-serious docs and always keeps him mind on the entertainment aspect of going to the movies, and in that sense Super Size Me 2 is as entertaining as some of his past films.
Super Size Me 2 is opening at the Cinema Village in New York and Laemmle Music Hall in L.A. on Friday.
The only new wide release this weekend is New Line/Warner Bros’ IT: CHAPTER TWO, which I’m sure I’ll be writing about a lot over at The Beat, so go click on those links so that they’ll continue hiring me to write more stuff! You can read my review here and an interview with actor James Ransone over at The Beat.
LIMITED RELEASES
Because it’s early September and there is a big wide release, there isn’t as much to talk about as far as limited releases.
Apparently, Janice Engel’s doc Raise Hell: The Life and Times of Molly Ivins (Magnolia) was released in Texas last weekend, which makes sense since that’s where journalist Molly Ivins is from, but it will open in New York and L.A. this weekend as well. I wasn’t as big a fan of this doc as the ones above just because Molly Ivins just felt like she was trying to do a stand-up comedy routine. In other words, the film lacked the depth I would have hoped from a political figure.
Chelsea Stardust’s Satanic Panic (RLJE Films), written by my good friends Grady Hendrix and Ted Geoghegan, that follows Hayley Griffith’s Sam, a pizza delivery driver whose last stop of the day is to a group of Satanists looking for someone to sacrifice. Yup, that sounds like something Grady and Ted (who wrote Ted’s second movie Mohawk) might come up with. So Sam must fend off witches and demonic creatures before she can end her shift. The film also stars Ruby Modine, Rebecca Romijn, Arden Myrin and Jerry O’Connell. It will be released in select theaters and On Demand Friday after premiering at the Overlook Film Festival and playing Fantasia in Montreal in July.
Two more movies opening at the Cinema Village(and other theaters) is Rowan Athale’s Strange but True (Lionsgate Premiere), a star-studded thriller based on John Searles’ novel, starring Margaret Qualley from Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood as the ex-girlfriend of a dead high schooler who shows up at his family’s house claiming that she’s pregnant with his child (five years after her boyfriend Ronnie’s death). Ronnie’s mother is played by the great Amy Ryan and brother by Nick Robinson, and the movie also stars Greg Kinnear, Brian Cox and Blythe Danner, which makes you wonder why this is being four-walled and most likely getting a typical Lionsgate Premiere VOD release.
Paul Taublieb’s doc Blink of an Eye (1091) is an inside look at the Daytona 500 in 2001, featuring Michael Waltrip and Dale Earnhardt Jr, and that’s about all I know about it. Waltrip is a perennial underdog who broke his 462-race losing streak just before the 2001 racing season, but when his best friend the older Dale Earnhardt crashes in the last lap of the Daytona 500, he steps up to race against Dale’s son, Dale Jr.
Opening at the Roxy Cinema in New York this week is Michael Oblowitz’s surfing doc Heavy Water, which follows surfer Nathan Fletcher, whose brother is credited for introducing punk rock skateboarding techniques to the sport. That’s about all I know about that one.
Since actor/filmmaker Justin Chon (The Twilight Sagaand Gook) will be in Toronto this weekend with Wayne Wang’s new movie (which is premiering there), he probably won’t be doing many opening weekend QnAs for his new movie Ms. Purple (Oscilloscope), which opens in L.A. at the Landmark Nuarton Friday and at the Quad in New York on Sept. 13. This one is a drama about a brother and sister (Teddy Lee and Tiffany Chu) who seemingly are stuck in Koreatown after being abandoned by their mother and raised by their father, who is dying. It sounds like a real hoot.
Opening in New York and L.A. is Simnon Hunter’s Edie (Music Box Films), starring 86-year-old legend Sheila Hancock as a widow about to be forced into retirement home for her last days but wanting to do one last climbing trip before she dies.
The Bollywood film Chhichhore(FIP), directed by Nitesh Tiwari (Dangal), will also open on Friday in top markets, taking place in a hostel filled with interesting and unique characters who go on a journey together.
Coming to theaters for one night only (i.e. Thursday) is Melanie Martinez’s musical K-12 (Abramorama/Atlantic) about a girl named Cry Baby who is sent to a disturbing sleepaway school where she is bullied until she finds a friend who helps her fight against the Principal and his “wicked staff.” I haven’t seen this but having suffered through Slaughterhouse Rulez I’m slightly dubious.
LOCAL FESTIVALS
Not local, but the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) starts this week. It’s my favorite film festival on the world (after maybe Oxford) but I can’t afford to go for a second year in a row, so instead of writing about it, I’m just gonna spend the next week and a half sulking and writing about other things. L
REPERTORY
Since it’s September, a new month and a movie season, I’m welcoming a new addition to this section…
ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE BROOKLYN (NYC)
I went to see Hitchcock’s Vertigo in 70mm over the past and saw that they’re starting to do a lot more rep. programs tying to upcoming new releases by directors like Pedro Almodovar and Bong Joon-ho, so I’m going to start including some of their screenings and hoping they won’t disappoint me like the New Bev has the last few months. (And hopefully I can include the brand-new L.A. Drafthouse soon, as well.) The problem is that very often, the rep screenings might sell out before I have a chance to write about them, similar to the New Bev, actually.
Much of the Alamo’s rep programming happens on weekdays at 9:30 PM, but as I mentioned, they have some interesting fall series planned.
This week’s “Weird Wednesday” is Drop Dead Fred (1991), starring Rik Mayall of “Young Ones” fame. Monday’s “Video Vortex” is the 1943 Bollywood horror film Son of Dracula, and next Tuesday’s “Terror Tuesday” is the original found footage horror film The Blair Witch Project from 1999. (There’s a free screening of Jacques Demy’s The Umbrellas of CherbourgWeds night for Alamo Victory members but it’s already sold out.)
METROGRAPH (NYC):
I never thought the Metrograph would bring back its initial charter “A to Z” program with more offerings but sure enough, this week begins Welcome To Metrograph: Redux! On Thursday, it begins with John Carpenter’s Assault on Precinct 13 from 1976 and continues Saturday with Ján Kadár’s The Angel Levinefrom 1970. I have never heard of Paulin Soumanou Vieyra but clearly, the programmers at the Metrograph have as they’re playing two shorts programs as well as his 2019 movie Testimony on Sunday and Monday. Also, the Metrograph will continue showing off its love for Anime with a regular engagement for the late Satoshi Kon’s Millennium Actress (2001) after showing Paprika and Perfect Blue the last couple weeks. (You can still see Perfect Blue and Paprika on Thursday, as well as Roehmer’s Le Rayon Vert and Goddard’s Pierrot Le Fou.) This week’s Late Nites at Metrograph is René Laloux’s animated Fantastic Planet (1973). Kinda esoteric, no? Playtime: Family Matinees is Miyazaki’s Spirited Away (2001), so a little more mainstream for the kiddies. Also, some of the Shaw Sisters movies continues through the weekend, and I can recommend both Puppy Love and Starry is the Night, two of my favorites from the series.
FILM FORUM (NYC):
“Marty and Jay’s Double Features” ends on Thursday, so your last options are William Holden’s The Counterfeit Traitor (1962) and Slightly Scarlet (1956) on Wednesday and Sanjit Ray’s The Music Room (1958) /Il Post (1961) or Voyage to Italy (1954) and Vincento Minnelli’s The Long, Long Trailer (1954), starring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz on Thursday. Joseph Losey’s 1976 Holocaust drama Mr. Klein, the filmmaker’s first French film after being blacklisted in Hollywood, will be screened on DCP starting Friday. Also, “Film Forum Jr.” is BACK this weekend with Buster Keaton’s Our Hospitality (1923)on Saturday and Sunday morning with live piano accompaniment.
EGYPTIAN THEATRE (LA):
Egyptian going a bit esoteric this week with “A Short Series about Krzysztof Kieslowski” (which I won’t even try to pronounce), dedicated to the filmmaker behind the famed “Three Colors” trilogy, which will screen (all three chapters!) on Sunday evening. On Thursday, there’s a double feature of A Short Film about Loveand A Short Film about Killing, both from 1988, and they’re both under 90 minutes so no lie in the title. Friday is a double feature of The Double Life of Veronique (1991) and 1981’s Blind Chance.
AERO (LA):
This week begins the French Noir series “The French Had a Name for it 5” with a number of double features. On Thursday, there’s Quai es Orfèvres (1947) and The Sleeping Car Murder (1965), Friday is Maigret and the St. Fiacre Case (1959) and Port du Desire (1955) and Saturday is René Clement’s Purple Noon from 1960 and a double feature of Melodie en Sous-Sol (1962) and The Sicilian Clan (1969). If it isn’t obvious, I haven’t seen any of them, but I have seen John Waters’ Pink Flamingos, which is the Aero’s Friday night midnight movie. Sunday’s French noir double feature is 1946’s Paniqueand 1947’s Non Coupable. “Heptember Matinees” continues on Tuesday with Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy in Adam’s Rib from 1949.
FILM AT LINCOLN CENTER (NYC):
Friday begins a new series called “Sci-Fi Visionary: Piotr Szulkin” showing six of the Polish filmmakers films beginning with 1980’s Golemand 1981’s War of the Worlds: Next Century. They’ll also be showing a new 4k restoration of George Nierenberg’s 1982 music documentary Say Amen, Somebody (Milestone Films) about American gospel music starting Friday with QnAs and choir performances following screenings on Friday and Saturday.
IFC CENTER (NYC)
Beginning Weds, the IFC Center will screen the new 4k restoration of David Lynch’s Blue Velvet (1986), a movie that I feel it’s been showing as part of its midnight series for months… but if I get to this week’s offerings, and there’s the same bullshit I’ve seen every single week, I’m moving this down to the bottom of the rep section. This weekend’s Weekend Classics: Staff Picks Summer 2019 is John Singleton’s 1995 dramas Higher Learning starring Laurence Fishburne, chosen by “Kashif” and “Marilyn,” while Waverly Midnights: Staff Picks Summer 2019 is Scorsese’s 1999 film Bringing out the Dead (chosen by “Luke”), starring Nicolas Cage.Okay, at least this week’s Late Night Favorites: Summer 2019 is Satoshi Kon’s 2006 movie Paprika (2006), which the Metrograph has been playing for weeks, so I’ll spare the IFC Center from punishment … for now.
MUSEUM OF THE MOVING IMAGE (NYC):
On Friday night, the museum is showing Douglas Trumbull’s 1983 sci-fi thriller Brainstorm in 70mm, and then on Saturday and Sunday, its showing It’s a Mad Mad Mad Mad World and Spielberg’s Ready Player One, also in 70mm.
ROXY CINEMA (NYC)
On Thursday, the Roxy is showing Jonathan Demme’s Talking Heads concert film Stop Making Sense, and then on Saturday and Sunday, it’s showing the Apocalypse Now 40thAnniversary Final Cut.
LANDMARK THEATRES NUART (LA):
This week’s Friday midnight is Tommy Wiseau’s The Room… again. YAWN.
THE NEW BEVERLY (L.A.):
Here I was going to give Tarantino the benefit of the doubt that he’d be back to rep programming in Sept. but why do your job as a programmer when you can just play your latest film and make just as much or more money? Sure, it’s playing The Postman Always Rings Twice from 1946 as the Wednesday matinee the original Disney The Parent Trap (1961), starring Hayley Mills, as the weekend KIDDEE MATINEE. And I do love P.T. Anderson’s Punch Drunk Love, which is playing as the Monday matinee. But otherwise, it’s all Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood all the time. (I guess the Saturday midnight movie is Reservoir Dogs at least?) For this infraction, the New Beverly is being moved to the VERY BOTTOM of this section as punishment, yes, even below the Nuart’s midnight screening.
(NOTE: As of now, it doesn’t seem like the Quad Cinema or BAM in Brooklyn have any new repertory screenings this weekend.)
Next week, the wide releases are STX’s Hustlers and Warners’ The Goldfinch, plus I hear Jillian Bell’s Brittany Runs a Marathon will be expanding even wider. I’ll cover most of those over at The Beat, but I’m sure I’ll have stuff to write about here as well.

january 2017 - dan and phil
1/12
happy new year: phil tweets seven minutes after the new year begins: HAPPY NEW YEAR !!! and dan tweets three minutes later: here's to us pinning all our hopes and dreams for ourselves and the world on the orbit of our indifferent planet around the sun. happy 2017!
first week (1-7): phil announces he has been licked by a doggo and gotten a cold and we still didn’t know where they had gone for new years eve. then dan tweets: to everyone asking if i went to a wild new year's eve party: i spent three hours making an iron bead rapidash (what a nerd). everyone freaks out because we couldn’t tell if they spent new years eve together but dan quells this by making it seem obvious that they were together that night. so it turns out they went up north to hang out with their friends (the parents of emily the baby from that 2012 liveshow) and made crafts and hung out with a dog which is cute. phil posts a recap of his 2016 tweets which most include dan. louise tweets dan about being a furry - he responds (1+2). phil copies dan and starts #HeaderForPhil on twitter. dan made the tv have a beautiful wallpaper of the definition of antichrist. phil mentions voldemort and i couldn’t stop thinking about “i would bang voldemort” for the rest of the day. dan goes to the dentist like the filthy hoe he is and he clenches his teeth as much as his ass it seems. phil tries to take a selfie while sick. day five and phil is still suffering from illness. phil would feel better with a corgi in the house. dan is an emo fuck about christmas trees (and according to dan you have to have a family meeting to take it down? family meeting with phil? ok.) here is phil’s first fan made header and it is lovely. dan makes a wholesome meme because he thinks he’s an emo fuck and phil rt’s for the warmth of positive thinking - really this is just an excuse to post a picture phil took of him wrapped in a blanket. phil finally becomes unsick!
second week (8-14): phil is going to die update #1 - he microwaved a metal fork. he’s so dumb he could microwave his laptop smh. dan emerges out of hibernation and is ready to eat, mate, and scratch himself. “we got a lot of houseplants watch out.” phil realizes he can wink with both eyes at once. phil is going to die update #2 - dan and phil have had a gas leak in their house for god knows how long (why haven’t they died and freed us from this hell? god abandoned us). dan opened submissions for a 2016 dan memes video :// dans first liveshow of the year was very soft and forgiving (highlights: men were in the house and you can hear them and phil in the background, dan’s uploading his younows to his side channel now, dan got a haircut an hour before, he’s going to buy a new piano, phil got him an aesthetic dandle and sand art thing, dan loves collin more than life confirmed, top 2016 albums: 1. frank ocean - blonde; 2. radiohead - a moon shaped pool; 3. kanye west - the life of pablo; 4. solange - a seat at the table; 5. danny brown - atrocity exhibition, not about the fish these days, wants the dentist to hurt him). phil got a haircut (rip dan getting haircuts after phil) and sasses someone on twitter. dan feels like a superhero for not dropping any socks. phil tweets about an action figure’s butt. phil’s first liveshow of 2017! (highlights: it turns out him and dan get haircuts at their house together now that’s gross, thought the gas leak smelled like wet dog...ok, dan got phil this game called codename and a candle, new years resolution is to take care of plants, he’s feeling very creative 2008 again plz, dans mum had a dream about them being in scotland as did phil? psychic much?). phil’s first video of 2017 and phil is going to die update #3: 2017 WANTS ME DEAD. dan and phil go to see la la land. phil updates his community tab on youtube which is interesting (check it out here) and provides us with a snapchat selfie. dan uploads his first video of 2017: The Top Dan Memes of 2016. dan and phil see the cursed child and they shared snacks and giggled at everything together. also they showed each other dog videos.
third week(15-21): the neighbors have stopped the drilling! dan broke his terrarium and life is pointless. phil brings back an old meme. dan liveshow (highlights: new wifi router, he looked over 100k submissions for his dan memes video, he was sad-tired-cry-laughing in the video dw, he has slightly curly hair but it’s hard to tell, phil doesn’t want death but it’s coming for him, got legos from lego but only kept batman watch, got custom adidas youtube jacket and sweatpants, played mia and sebastian’s theme from la la land!, going to vidcon la, beat phil’s ass at pokemon, he and phil laughed for an hour about the terrarium, gonna do some life things (with phil) and storage is on the agenda.) dan and phil post kawaii edits of their face (s-s-senpai: 1 2 3). phil liveshow! (highlights: phil made chili but got distracted and the chili set on fire and got chili all over the walls and dan was like ok, he wants to cuddle a dog, live opening of yt plaque for one million subs on lessamazingphil, dan and phil went to a bakery and couldnt say no to polar bear cakes, dans terrarium smash was the saddest smash he ever heard, he got a huge thumb statue ://). first gaming video of the year: Dan and Phil Play HAPPY WHEELS. dan breaks one of the polar bear cakes. “coffee and a cake with tv is not a sat at the table experience.” dan and phil rt cool things for the women’s march.
fourth week and the rest (22-31): dan fell down the stairs. phil only wears a towel around the house this is nice information this is fine. phil hits 4 mil on twitter before youtube???? phil expresses an opinion on the taste of coke. dan liveshow! (highlights: they’ve been block filming videos because they are going away for the weekend, he got a soft grey throw blanket which is pure and good? he loved women’s march, he taped a gopro to the pc in the office just in case he ever wanted to film a quick side channel video, said gaykery instead of bakery - rainbow cakes: the diverse bakery, loved troye’s heaven music video, talked about phangate and named phil’s wife sabrina and child lola (explanation! basically someone set up a mock exposé blog called phangate and claimed dan was seeing a lot of people and phil didn’t live with him but instead with his wife and coming child - very drama, much confusion but just turned out to be a parody and is followed up on this blog), going to vidcon anaheim but not sure about sitc or playlistlive, no liveshow next tuesday because he’s going north to celebrate phil’s birthday with pals and fam). second gaming video of the year: DAB BECOMES A TODDLER (good domestic life). phil liveshow! (highlights: literally the most wholesome liveshow in the world, didn’t get much sleep because la la land soundtrack, we have to take care of dab if dan and phil die, martyn visited that day to brainstorm merch, early morning dan broke a pint glass and it was glass dust all over the floor why is their kitchen getting so much abuse (dan cut his hand), phil wants red velvet cake for this birthday, phil’s clickbait-y and couldn’t hatch his emu egg during the liveshow because it takes time, got new houseplant, he’s been having good vibes, talks to janice (his wife from phangate but dan called her sabrina the storylines are shady), 2017 is gonna be more chill but still exciting things happening!!!). dan trapped a spider but it escaped and he is afrightened (suki the hamster pt 2)(also hobbit hair clickbait?). PHIL SIGNED HIMSELF UP FOR A GYM??????ATHEISTS EXPLAIN. fancy sushi restaurant date for phil’s bday (at this restaurant). dan gets his ass stuck in a rocket (but in the bg you can see they are at the isle of man! for phil’s birthday! god fuck! there is a bear on this island!). second phil video of the year: I PREDICT MY FUTURE (ok holy shit phil’s gonna get a dog and a house this video is wild remember when phil predicted dan? this video is legit).
