btw I’ve been thinking about that time in s7 where dean thought sam stole the impala because he was hallucinating the devil and dean’s response was to track him down and punch him in the face for it. what the fuck.

In the middle of season 7. Each rewatch, I feel like my focus goes to something new, and this time around, it's really sticking out to me how - because the show presents Sam through the lens of Dean - how Dean thinks there is something inherently wrong with Sam from the start. And that never changes. Like yes, Dean loves Sam, he really does, but but it's always something. If it weren't for the fact that Sam's psychic abilities and the demon blood (things he didn't ask for, by the way) made him different, it would be the simple fact that Sam does not buy into Dean's worldview. When Dean confronted Sam about Amy, when he called Amy a freak, it was heartbreaking to see Sam's hurt reaction to that. If Sam himself weren't dealing with severe mental illness due to his own trauma (which Dean finds freakish), he would be a freak simply by association by empathizing with Amy.
And speaking of Sam's hallucinations and mental health struggles in season 7 in particular (which, Dean obviously has his own struggles that deserve sympathy, but that's not what we're focusing on right now), it's all a repercussion of what Sam has been dealing with since the beginning of the show. We know that Sam has always felt like there was something different about him, and if you take John's journal into account and remember Lucifer showing him all the demons that have been following him his whole life in "Swan Song", then there's always been something...well, supernatural about him. Brady gets possessed, introduces him to Jess, he starts to get visions, he discovers he's psychic and has powers, that he's Lucifer's vessel, that "you didn't need the feather to fly, Dumbo, you had it in you all along"...then he goes to Hell, where his soul is stuck for months, being tortured by Satan himself. And because Cas brought him back without his soul, Dean's trust issues with him continue through season six and into season seven. He doesn't trust that Sam is stable. He doesn't trust that Sam isn't somehow wrong. Somehow a freak.
And it's not fair. It's so sad. You can understand, in a way, why Dean is wary. But Sam didn't ask for any of this. He does bear some responsibility in certain situations, yes, but he was forced into these things, or manipulated, or was simply born that way. There is nothing inherently wrong with the fact that he was born with these abilities.
It goes against Dean's worldview, though. It goes against the idea that his family should be all-in on what they do, that Sam should just fall in line, that the world is black and white and that there is something inherently wrong with people who have these abilities and differences that makes them less than human.
Remember when Sam got pissed at him for not telling him that Jack was planning to die in order to defeat Chuck? And Dean was upset that Sam asked ethical questions? So Sam, who is - according to many, including sometimes his own family - supposedly less than human, is the one asking and confronting these ethical questions, is pushing back against the popular worldview of the people he is associated with, and that pisses them off. They get upset that Sam pushes back. (God, if I'm not careful, I'm going to go into analysis of how Sam's hair represents his resistance.)
Look. Sam is the protagonist of the show. We see him through Dean's eyes, and because of Dean's worldview, the way we see Sam is skewed. And maybe that's the point. Maybe we're supposed to be questioning Dean more than people do. When Sam says in season eight that the trials are "purifying" him, that he always felt as if there was something wrong with him, we shouldn't be agreeing; we should be horrified at the fact that he has gone through life feeling subhuman. We should be questioning the world around him and the community he is a part of that simultaneously seems to detest his very existence.
The guy is literally part of a hostile environment, and every time he tries to break away, he gets guilted back into it. Either he serves the system, or it'll kill him.

i need to rant about sam right quick.... more specifically the whole demon blood era cause OH MY GOSH.
sam thought he was doing the right thing yet everything warned him against it: dean, bobby, catiel, angels, HIMSELF, yet his mindset was if he kept a level head he could keep going, but how can you tell if youre going insane?? youre not gonna be like "hey myself, yeah this is totally wrong." sam knew he was helping people. HOW could you stop helping people, doing your job??? he had so much trust in ruby, which saddens me HOW much trust. dean was dead. he wasnt coming back. how is sam supposed to cope with that normally?? the only person he loved more than anything, the person he'd been through everything with, the person that was the thing only grounding him in the insane life they live in. with that gone how are you supposed to go on? well after doing quite literally everything he thought of trying to get dean back, he had no hope. but he needed something to take the place of dean, which ruby had taken the chance in sams weakened state and slipped in. now tell me how sam wasnt going to trust her?? he was blinded, to everything. he did the one thing he knew to do: save people. when someone tells you can save more people, wouldnt you take the opportunity?? sam did.
like i said earlier, he was blinded, so he really couldnt see he was slowly turning himself into something he promised himself he wouldnt, all he saw was the people he saved. when dean finally came back he didnt stop, i mean why would he? he kept going, and going and going, at this point he had almost completely lost himself. it didnt matter that he had dean, he had already come to reality that dean was gone.
now DONT GET ME STARTED ON DEAN FINDING OUT. how could dean not freak? now its deans turn to come to reality: his little brother is addicted to demon blood. what? his sammy?? no, no his sammy wouldnt do that... right? i mean he would see that ruby is no good. right? he would see past the people he was saving and know he was turning himself into a freak. right!?! no. it wasnt his sam. now what is dean supposed to do? it obviously wasnt his brother, his brother wouldnt do that.
so he and bobby did what they thought was the best attempt to help him: cage him. like a violent animal, which was what sam was slowly becoming.
now if you think that was hard for dean to do, think about sam. sam was being thrown into a panic room because his family thought he was a freak. he was helping people why couldnt they see that? and why couldnt sam see he was losing himself? everybody thought they knew what was best. they thought was right.
i just cant see. how are you supposed to cage your brother without even talking? how are you supposed to think drinking demon blood was for the greater? i cant see a right here.
when sam was in the bunker room the demon blood threw the last punches it could. it made sam hallucinate, it made him think mary was on his side, that dean and bobby were only scared of his power, it made his younger self talk him down, it made dean say nasty things. it threw him around the room like a rag doll. it made him believe allister was torturing him in the worst ways possible. all this happened as he screamed and screamed; no one came. the people he loved left him to die it felt like.
so when he got free why wouldnt he run as far as he could? as far away from bobby and dean as he could get, mentally and physically.

“He’s Alive?”, Evelyn’s Voice echoed through the phone in disbelief, “Madi, How? he fell off a Thirteen Foot drop.” her voice was Bordering Concern and Fear, no one Human could Survive all of those Jagged Rocks on the way Down; Madi let out a Shaky Sigh, “It’s weird, when I saw him he had no wounds whatsoever.”
“He must have missed all those Jagged Rocks on the way down and Hit the water, Swam to the Surface.” Madi said; now that was Pure Luck with how Insane and Scared Chris was at the time of that Incident. “He Must still have the after Effects of that Demon within him, Otherwise he wouldn’t have Gone after the old Team.” Evelyn Voiced her thoughts on the situation, She Received an agreeable him on the other end of the Phone.
“I agree with you Lyn, I’ve Collected the Remaining Members of the Hunting team, right now There’s only eight of us left; We’re hiding down at the Safehouse.” Madi Explained, Evelyn Remembered that Old Safehouse, Chris had Introduced it to her when he first took her in and was Training her. “That’s good, you all need to Steer Clear of that Hunting Ground we were on during the Incident, he’ll probably Search there first.” Evelyn Remarked.
There was a Stagnant Pause for a Minute.
“Lyn, I’m concerned about you though.” Madi said, her soft tone almost made Evelyn wanna cave and tell Her exactly where she was; but that would only risk her life and the Winchester Brothers’ lives. “Don’t worry about me.” she spoke quickly and ended the call before Madi could Protest.
Evelyn Went over to her desk, Pulling Out an Old Map of the Hunting Grounds from that Night. She looked at the area’s She had Circled in Previous Research of the area, She was going to have to sneak out without alarming Both Sam and Dean, She Didn’t need them Involved in her Shady and bloody past.
So Evelyn Started packing a Bag, Filling it with her Weapons and the Most Important things before Grabbing her heavy Jacket because in that area of Kansas it was specifically cold and snowing, she Quickly Left a Written note to Dean, Apologizing for what she had to do now; and then she Unlocked the latches of her window and Hopped out.
And then She Just Started Running.
←←→→
Dean and Sam found her note an Hour after she Snuck out, Reading the Contents of it made Dean’s Heart Clench Painfully for Evelyn.
‘Hey boys, I know you must be super confused Reading this, but I trust that you’ll trust me to do this on my own; I have to do this, There are things about my past that I haven’t told you, Dark and Bloody things. Now I know this probably won’t keep you guys away, because both of you are Stubborn as hell; but If you do follow me, Just know that I am sorry for everything that you’re about to find out.’
Of course as Expected, Dean Proposed the Idea to Track her down and Follow her wherever she was going off in Such a hurry; Even though Sam was Hesitant because it sounded like She wanted to do this alone, he agreed because She also might be heading into Danger.
So they Both Started Searching Evelyn’s Room, Sifting through all of Her Obviously Personal Belongings.
Finally Dean found the map that you had Haphazardly tried to hide in your Clothes Drawer, he Pulled it out looking at the spots you had Circled. “Hey Sam, Over here. I found something.” He called Sam over.
She were heading for your Old Hunting Grounds, Which she had mentioned in some Drunken Stories completely by accident.
Sam Noticed her Unlatched Window, “And it looks like she’s Going there by foot.” Sam Noted.
“Well let’s Jump in baby, and get over there now.” Dean said, he wanted to get to Evelyn Fast before anyone bad did.
←←→→
Evelyn had made it Halfway by the Evening, the sun Just setting, she was sure both Dean and Sam had already Started on the way to these old Hunting Grounds with the Impala.
She Internally Snorted at how stubborn the Two were, always Causing Trouble.
Evelyn Settled Down at a couple of Trees to stop for the night, if she kept going like this she’d only Burn herself straight to Exhaustion and never reach the hunting Grounds, fortunately she found it pretty easy to fall asleep.
Already tired from the Day’s Events, Her Eyes slipped closed and She fell into a Deep Slumber using her bag as a pillow.
“Now Hold it Steady, Lyn. Don’t mind the Kickback, I’ll catch you kid.” Chris’ Voice Flowed through the cold air, a younger Version Of Evelyn Pointing a Gun at a Target Painted onto a Tree, he was currently teaching her how to fire off a Gun correctly and have Perfect aim. Evelyn was Nervous, but she Slowed her Breathing closing her eyes for a Solid Minute, Calming her racing Heart.
Bang!
Evelyn had Shot a Bullet from the Gun so Smoothly, Seeming so easy to do, even Chris was Impressed with her Output. “Damn Kid, I knew you had Potential in you. You’re a Damn good Shot.” Chris Praised her, Evelyn practically beamed at the Praise not even noticing Madi right behind her who had a Proud Smile Plastered on her face, seeing Her as the child she never had the chance of having.
Once again though, the Seemingly Perfect and happy Memory was Changing again, the sky Turned into a Blood Red once more as Chris’ Eyes Turned Black like a Demon’s eyes; his Voice was Strangled And Gravely, a wound was open in his neck, in the shape of a bite wound from a Demon; his Vocal cords torn and Ripped half way out of his Throat. “You’ll never be able to save him, Evelyn. He Belongs among us now, your Precious Mentor is a Demon.” the Voice hissed.
“And it’s all your fault.” the Voice said once more before it let out a Horrible snarl, Lunging at Evelyn Just about to bite into her—
Suddenly Evelyn Launched awake again, Sweat rolling down her face. Another Nightmare, once that changed her happy Memories again; Evelyn looked up realizing it was Early in the morning, it was time for her to get to walking again; She didn’t know if the boys were Close to her yet.
Evelyn Gathered her things and kept on Marching Straight through the cold Ground, her boots Crunching as She did so, the smell of the old Hunting Grounds nearby always Brought back Simpler times back to her, when Chris was just her Friendly Mentor, before Everything went down.
And She didn’t just mean when the Demon Screwed with his head, she had always Sensed something a little off with Chris, Always being Close to her, having his wife teach Hailey Instead Of Teaching her Himself, Chris almost demanded to be close to Evelyn every second of Every Day; Had Evelyn Just Listened to Lucas’ Warnings she would of Realized that Chris had Been Grooming her the Entire time.
It made her sick to her stomach to remember that every sweet praise that left his lips was just to get her closer to him, he couldn’t go one day without being close to Evelyn, or Touching her.
Evelyn shook her head, Ridding herself of that Horrid Memory that was stuck in her brain; she Tried to focus on something else but Her brain Couldn’t help but go into another Flashback.
“You’re so Pretty Lyn, you know that?” Chris had said one day while coming into her Private room, while she was trying to sleep; Evelyn didn’t know what to think, she was still a Teenager who was Vulnerable at this moment. “So much prettier than my wife.” he added, Sitting on the edge of her bed.
Evelyn was Pulling the Covers closer to her chin, Chris was acting weird, he wasn’t usually like this. Chris Chuckled, Using his hands to Snatch the Blanket Right from her body Revealing her in a nightgown; Evelyn Swore she heard Chris Growl right then.
“Do you always have to be so Tempting, Darlin’?” What was he Talking about, when Had she ever Been Tempting anyone; how was a Teenager Tempting him with anything at all, Chris shouldn’t even be Tempted by this at all. “God, I bet you want it too, Don’t ya?” he asked, his Hand Reaching To Touch Evelyn’s Upper Thigh before Madi Busted through the Door.
“Chris, What the hell are you doing!” She screeched, Mortified at what she was seeing, Her Stomach Curling In disgust at the Sight, “Get your Disgusting hands off of that Girl!” she yelled, Dragging him off by his hair, roughly letting go causing Chris to Bash his head against the wall. Madi gave Evelyn a soft, caring look as she covered her back up.
The only Thing Evelyn saw through teary eyes was Madi Dragging her Husband by his hair.
Once again Evelyn Shook the memory again, She doubted Chris Ever Loved her like a Daughter; he only Felt Sexual Things for Her.
Evelyn’s Thoughts were Interrupted When She heard Two Pairs of Footsteps barreling Right towards her, before she could turn around someone Wrapped their arms around her and Tackled her to the Ground, she was Twisted around to See it was Dean Straddling her.
“Can’t Outrun us, Sweetheart.” Dean Said, with a Smirk Plastered on his Face, Meanwhile Sam was Rolling his eyes at Dean’s Obviously Childish behavior.
Evelyn Shoved Dean Off of her before Standing up, “You Guys Can’t be here, you’re gonna Put everyone in danger!” she hissed at them, Swatting Dean’s Hands away from her face.
Before Dean Or Sam Could ask her Who she was Talking about, a familiar female Voice was Heard a few feet in front of them.
“Lyn, are these those Winchester Boys you were talking about?” they all turned to see it was Madi Who was talking, Still alive and well.
Evelyn Glanced back to see Dean and Sam looking at her with Arched Eyebrows, as She Awkwardly chuckled.
She had a lot of Explaining to do.
«»
Madi Gratefully led them to the Safehouse, if the Winchester Brothers were Out here now in their Old Hunting Grounds, then it was safe to say Chris was going to make them a Target as well, Sam and Dean Didn’t argue with Madi seeing as it would be no use since Madi was a mother Hen.
Stepping into the Old Abandoned Cabin, Evelyn saw the rest of her old Hunting Team, Gathered together amongst a few Children as well, they were cuddled up to a Couple of the Adults who were keeping them cozy and warm.
The first one to remember Evelyn was a young Adult named Lana, Who immediately charged at Evelyn, Hugging her tight. “Lyn! You came back!” She Screeched With Happiness; Evelyn Returned the Hug, rubbing Lana’s back as she did.
“Yeah I did, I’m making sure You’re all safe.” She said, Lana was the Newest member of their old Hunting Group, after the incident Madi wanted to keep the team going, possibly train younger members who wanted to be Hunters without the Trauma that Chris would always Project onto his ‘Students.’ Madi would Always send letters from Lana.
“Who are they?” Lana asked, motioning towards Dean and Sam who were just standing Awkwardly at the Cabin Door, Dean had a Look of Slight Betrayal on his face while Sam had that Same Puppy Dog look in his eyes staring at the young Hunters and Children all gathered around the fire. Evelyn gave Lana a smile, Perhaps it was time for her family to meet the two most Important Guys in her life.
“Well the Big tall Guy is Sam Winchester, He’s My best friend; I would Trust him with my life if I had to.” She Responded, Smiling back at Sam before moving on to Introduce Dean. “And this is Dean, my best friend and my Absolutely lovable Boyfriend; I would also Trust him with my life.”
“Wow, you have a boyfriend now? Shocker.” Someone else, with a Cold Mannered Voice said from the corner of the room in the Darkness; a Woman with Straight black hair tied up in a Ponytail and Snake Green eyes.
Evelyn Immediately Recognized her, one of her Rivals; and She Recognized her on a Personal level. The woman’s name was Blaire Thompson, same Age as Evelyn.
Chris’ Niece.

Sorry to everyone who the tagging isn't working, I'm not sure why but I hope you manage to find this anyway :))
"I thought we weren't leaving for another hour," Clint prompted, "to go over the plan and everything?"
You shook your head. "They're gonna be here any minute. You all have to go now."
Steve glanced at you. "Plans change. We're leaving."
~~
You could hardly believe it.
You were in the quinjet.
With the entirety of team Cap.
Maybe you were hallucinating?
Or were you actually in the quinjet, meaning you had managed to change the course of the movie. You had seen Civil War innumerable times and you knew that the whole team didn't make it out of there. Tony and the others managed to capture everyone except Bucky and Steve and even then they only barely made it out of there.
But there you were, sitting with Wanda, Clint, Thor, Sam, and-
Scott and Bucky.
Oh, for fucks sake, your heart was going to give out on you if you thought about it too much. You had never really had a moment to introduce yourself to Bucky in the few instances you'd interacted with him- and Scott, this is the first time you'd seen him.
Although you were impatient to talk to Bucky, you knew exactly how excitable you could get and given that the man hadn't exactly had an easy last couple decades, you were going to talk to Scott first in the hope that you'd manage to chill out enough afterward to talk to Bucky.
"Hi!" You cursed inwardly at the volume of your voice. "It's really awesome to meet you, I'm a huge fan."
Scott looked at you, a smile growing on his face. "Really? Well, it's awesome to meet you too. I've never really met a fan before."
"They have no taste then," you said, without hesitation. You were practically bouncing. "Trust me- it is insane that I'm meeting you. You're super cool."
Too occupied by having a conversation with Scott (seriously, you were talking to Scott Lang. Ant-Man. The World's Greatest Grandma. It was awesome) you didn't notice the pairs of eyes on you. Or rather, you didn't notice one set of blue eyes in particular.
~~
Bucky was intrigued.
Of course, he was.
The first time he'd seen you had been confusing to say the least, especially the way you'd seemed so starstruck by him. What was he supposed to think? He was an ex-assassin credited with over two dozen kills and you were staring at him with nothing less than awe in your eyes and he just couldn't figure out why.
And from there, it only got more confusing.
When you had showed up in the warehouse, talking to Steve and helping all of them, he had pieced together that you were a friend of Steve's- but not only were you a friend, you were one of the people caught in the explosion. The explosion he had been framed for. Which meant that when he had first seen you, you had been looking at him so admirably even though you couldn't have known that it wasn't him who set off the bomb.
And most recently, less than half an hour ago when you had showed up, being pulled through the air by a magic hammer of all things, and told all of them that they had to leave.
Who were you?
Steve hadn't hesitated to listen to you, Clint had patted you on the back, and Wanda had hugged you; so you were obviously an acquaintance of the group. The most obvious reason would be that you were an agent; somebody who had interacted with the Avengers, but you looked far too young and far too full of life to be one.
And now, there you were, excitedly talking to the new guy (Scott?) and seemingly fascinated by meeting him. Wanda would look at you and shake her head with a smile, fond of the way you seemed so yourself. Clint looked at you with the easy caring of a family member. Despite the warnings you had arrived with, you seemed happy and carefree, eyes shining and laugh ready.
Your smile was carefree, a little crooked, but entirely true to how you felt.
He could see the shadows hiding in your eyes, the way you would wince sometimes, like a headache was pounding but you kept on smiling throughout it. And watching you, entrapped with the way you seemed so keen, so enduring, he couldn't help the thought that crossed his mind.
He liked your smile.
~~
Steve set the quinjet on autopilot, looking at you while you approached him.
You looked around nervously, there wasn't really a closed cockpit like most aircrafts, so you were going to have to tell him and risk the rest of the crew hearing. There was a lot of important shit that happened in Civil War, things that would determine the outcome of whether they beat Thanos or not. You knew that changing anything was a risk, but you had to believe that what you were doing was the right thing, that they would prevail over Thanos if they stood together.
"Steve, I know." You weren't sure how to say what you were about to, so you just forced the words out of your mouth. "I know about what happened between-" you lowered your voice even more, "-Sergeant Barnes and Tony's parents."
Steve stiffened. "How- how do you know?"
"Well," you tried to think of a believable lie, "I spent a lot of time looking online for ways to get you all out of the Accords,  which lead me to a lot of things I wasn't supposed to see and I ended up hacking into this old Hydra bunker- well, there's footage there." You knew your lie had holes, but you had to hope that he wouldn't notice.
He swallowed. "And you?"
"Me?" You blinked.
"What did you think?" He looked almost scared and you couldn't help but feel horrible.
You cleared your throat. "He was being controlled. It wasn't him. Not really."
Steve let out a relieved breath, glad he wasn't going to have to lose another friend. "Does Tony know?"
"No." You remembered something. "But the guy who mind-controlled Sergeant Barnes wants to show him the video. Probably to tear the Avengers apart. That can't happen and you have to tell him yourself."
"I-" Steve tried to absorb your words. "-I will. I'll tell him. Thank you, (y/n)."
He pulled you in for a hug, but allowed you a moment to move away if you felt uncomfortable. You, being far too much of a simp to refuse, moved into the hug, wrapping your arms around him tightly. He mirrored your action, trying to show you exactly how much he appreciated you.
"I mean it, (y/n). Thank you."
"No problem, old man." You said, voice muffled from the hug.
He squeezed you just a little bit tighter, the bear hug more than welcome to you after the stress of the last couple days. With his arms around you, you could pretend for a moment that everything was okay. You had, after all, managed to stop the team from fighting at the airport but you knew that had only postponed the confrontation.
But, even if it was only for a moment, you could pretend that everything was going right.
~~
"Which one of you did this." The phrasing turning the words from a question to an accusation. "WHICH ONE OF YOU DID THIS?" Ross slammed his palm on the table, rage practically radiating from his form.
Tony looked at the TV screen in the hotel living room, feeling a drop in his stomach when he saw the matter being discussed.
"Oh, fuck." Natasha cursed softly, face illuminated by the glow of her phone screen.
Countless news outlets were reporting on the same subject, each one screaming "Breaking News!" with a picture either of the Avengers, the Accords themselves, the UN, or some sort of combination of the three.
She knew exactly who had done this.
Natasha hadn't forgotten how you had tried to sneak back into the hotel room before Thor had arrived,  she knew you had been up to something, but she wouldn't of guessed this.
She should've though.
She should've known you would pull something like this. She'd seen firsthand how devastated you were by the Accords splitting apart the team. She knew you cared about them. She knew you would do anything for the people you cared about.
But somehow, she didn't see this coming.
If anybody were to be able to see it coming, it should've been Natasha. After all, she had done a very similar thing when Hydra had been discovered within S.H.I.E.L.D..
"This was you, wasn't it?" The Secretary glared at Natasha, recalling the same event she had. "You did this with S.H.I.E.L.D., now you're doing it with the Accords."
"I would be very careful of throwing accusations around," Tony warned, voice lacking his normal humor. "Nobody here did it. In case you hadn't noticed, we've been busy trying to find Rogers."
"Oh, shut up, Stark." Ross scoffed. "You've all been against this from the very start. Of course one of you would stoop to this level."
"Get me a lie detector then," Tony remarked. "Nobody here had any part in this."
Which wasn't a lie considering....
Ross somewhat managed to wrangle his temper in. "We will. And have tech search every computer you own. You won't get away with this, Stark."
~~
Tony sighed, sitting back in the his private jet with Peter and Natasha, the others having returned to their duties after Ross had dismissed them from the hotel.
"They won't find anything. They'll try, but there won't be a piece of information they could use against any of us." He met Natasha's eyes, knowing as well as she did who had leaked the info.
"Did (y/n) do this?" Peter asked quietly, knowing how much you cherished the people important to you; how much you wanted to protect them. "The leaking of the Accords?"
"Well, kid," Tony sighed, "if we were betting, I'd have my entire net worth on her."
"What does that mean? Is something going to happen to her?" Peter was worried now.
Natasha shook her head. "As long as what Tony said is true, nobody will be able to trace it back to the hotel, and by extension, no one will trace it back to (y/n)."
"What was she thinking?" Tony couldn't help the frustration in his voice. "She knows how serious this is."
"You know what she was thinking," Natasha stated bluntly.
"Um," Peter started, looking at some of the articles that had been posted on the Accords. "A lot of people are agreeing with Mr. Captain America now." He showed the phone screen to the two adults. "And honestly- I don't blame them. Look at the picture with the highlighting on it. It's a picture of one of the pages of the Accords. They were going to lock you guys up in a supermax raft-prison in the middle of the ocean if you didn't follow their every order."
Natasha remembered what you had told them, when you had pleaded with her and Tony to change the Accords some way. "Of course, they were. They only gave us a couple days to agree for a moment. They knew we wouldn't be able to read through every page of that thing. How did she manage to find that?"
"Must've written a program on the computer to scan the document for certain things," Tony's fists were clenched, anger spiking as he thought of the way the government had tried to enslave them. "I should've done it the moment they'd proposed the Accords. Fuck," he swore, "I could've done something."
"There's more." Peter looked horrified. "There's so much more."
"They were going to do to us what Hydra did to Barnes," Natasha stated. "(y/n) told us that much and we did nothing. So, she took matters into her own hands and did what she could to protect the people she cared about."
"I get that." Peter spoke. "But where is she now?"
~~
The quinjet had almost arrived at the destination, your nerves rising the closer you got to the Hydra bunker. You knew there was no chance that the arrival wouldn't precede Zemo's, but you had to hope he hadn't yet killed all the Winter Soldiers and set up the trap for Tony and Steve.
Granted, Tony wasn't there to see the video, but it would probably be better if Steve told the team rather than having it forced to the light. Your knees were bouncing, energy trying to find some outlet to release your pent up nerves.
You felt a hand tap your shoulder. "You okay, (y/n)?" A familiar accented voice asked.
"Just nervous, Wanda." You managed a smile. "How are you feeling?"
She pulled her hand into her sleeve, thinking about your question. "I don't know. I've hurt people and I don't want to do that anymore."
Your eyes softened, and you clutched the hand she had used to tap you, intertwining your fingers with hers in a hope to comfort her. You realized quickly that you should've asked first, and was about to pull away when she squeezed your hand a little. You met her eyes, feeling your heart squeeze when you remembered what would've happened to her if they had ended up fighting Tony and she got arrested. You didn't want to see her in that cell, a straightjacket around her, eyes dead.
"You've made mistakes," you acknowledged, "and people got hurt. But that doesn't mean you can't still help people. You're a good person, Wanda. You can't possibly know how glad I am to have met you."
Your earnest words made Wanda's eyes go misty, but she hurried to blink back tears. You had never been very close to her (instead, you were normally closer to Natasha and Steve), but you had always treated her with the utmost respect and admiration, and now you were comforting her and she couldn't express how thankful she was for that.
"Thank you, (y/n)," she managed. "You are a good person, too."
You thought back to the explosion, the explosion you knew was going to happen that you let people get hurt in. "It doesn't always feel like that, but all we can do is our best, right?"
Wanda nodded, glad to have your hand to hold on to, appreciating how the loneliness abated with you beside her.
"Lady (y/n), you are so wise."
Those words coming from just about anybody else, and you'd think they were being sarcastic, but with Thor having said it, you knew he meant it completely.
"Thanks, Thor."
"Alright, everybody." Steve spoke. "We're here."

DEAN There's a woman you haven't mentioned? SAM A woman? DEAN Well, I'm just saying. You weren't here when I went to bed last night. You've been running off on your own a lot these past couple weeks. SAM I do that. DEAN You actually don’t. SAM Dean, we don't always do the exact same thing at the exact same time. Remember when you went off and snuffed that vampire nest by yourself? DEAN Have you been snuffing vamps' nests? SAM No, I-I . . . What is that? What are you doing?
smooth, sam. glad dean has noticed and is calling him out on it at least. "we don't always do the exact same thing at the exact same time" L O L

SAME, GIRL. SAME.
SAM Charlie, he's not himself. He's not. He would try and stop me. He's given up. Look, I called in an expert to use the codex, but it turns out it's sort of encoded also, so I thought you might help move things along faster. CHARLIE Behind Dean's back. After Dean told us the stupid book would kick our asses if we mess with it. Is there any part of this that doesn't reek? SAM Did I mention you'll be working with one of the most dangerous witches in the world? CHARLIE I don't know, Sam. SAM As far as I can tell, this is our only shot at saving him. ROWENA Quite literal, aren't you? Does he know that the first rule is don't tell your brother what we're doing?
okay that made me laugh out loud
SAM Okay, everyone take a breath. Look, we're up against it, okay? And we've all been up against it before, and we know there are times when every choice sucks. Now, us lying to Dean is the choice that sucks the least. We have to make this work. Please.
CASTIEL Wait . . . Dean doesn't know? Sam, this never ends well. CHARLIE That's exactly what I said.
join the party
CHARLIE Okay, yeah. For Dean. SAM Cas? CASTIEL Okay. For Dean. SAM For Dean. ROWENA I barely know the man.

Twins - Ep 10
So, I'm the type of BL series enjoyer, who can forgive a lot as long as the series gives me something in return and makes up for its issues with something else. Twins was a very silly show that I liked anyway because it made up for its dumbassery with other things. I really liked Twins a lot, in some way I still do, I LOVE SPRITE my babyboy, but what has been going on in this show for the last two episodes is beyond comprehension and is turning my hair gray. In general, I have the impression that the last two episodes were filmed just to somehow fill the time and wait until episode 11 OF DOOM, in which the shit will finally hit the fan. And it's very, very stupid, because Sprite could have confessed the truth to First in this episode, he could have spent the entire episode 11 regaining First's trust, and in episode 12 we could have had a happy boyfriends era, like they did in Laws of Attraction, for example 😶
Watching the last two episodes is actually painful because what's fun about watching First suffer? The worst thing is that Sprite SEES IT and DOES NOTHING ABOUT IT. THIS EPISODE HAD A FEW MOMENTS WHERE ANYONE WHO HAS A HEART WOULD JUST TELL HIMTHE TRUTH. The weirdest thing is that there is absolutely NO reason to continue this sick situation, the series, as far as I know, never explains it, apart from this being a Zee's whim, which everyone just agrees to, instead of smacking him on the head and telling him to get his shit together. That's why I don't understand and I can't forgive Sprite for what he's doing, because at this point he's putting himself, his fucked up family, and I don't know, Zee's volleyball career?? which I don't even know if he wants to continue?? instead of the guy he loves, who is worried, confused, hurt and probably a little scared. Nothing about this situation makes sense, what is the purpose of all this? What are the true intentions of Zee and Sprite? Do they want to continue this…. FOREVER?? omg lol
Moreover, simply pretending to be someone else, making someone fall in love with you by pretending to be someone else, having sex as someone else is simply morally unacceptable. I would understand it maybe in some life and death situation. This is NOT such a situation, they are just selfish and extremely stupid. And First could simply start to suspect that either Sprite or he himself is ill, hallucinating, or having a split personality, WHAT'S ROMANTIC ABOUT THAT??? Does Sprite really not know what Zee is like and what he is like towards First??? Doesn't Salmon know this??? Sprite is so worried about his relationship, he wants to be with First, he begs him to ignore his "strange behavior", but at the same time he forgets that Zee can destroy this relationship with ONE WORD. Gods, this pisses me off so much. Let's remember that these are students, technically they are adults. If each of them took 1 (one!!) minute to analyze this situation, they would realize how stupid what they are doing is. AND THAT THIS SITUATION HAS NO FUTURE. I was sort-of ok with the whole twins swap at first because I understand the convention of this series (although I hate this trope). But now it really doesn't make sense and is just TOO stupid!!
*screams*
The best thing about this ep is their date (when Sprite is like he was when I first fell in love with him, with his goofy, dumb smile and attitude) and the cross pendant dangling between their naked bodies as they have sex, which basically is a
✨poetic cinema✨
Also. Drunk sex. Really? Are we still doing this in my BLs? Ok, I'm not very strict about this, there are different situations, sex is not always perfect. But this is not a situation where someone is only slightly drunk, where the relationship is already "in progress", where both are attracted to each other and are aware of each other's attraction, and alcohol only somehow gives them a "boost". Sam was drunk to the point that he couldn't stand and he doesn't remember anything, wtf.
So. Twins. *screams*

A few quotes from my brother during RotK:
Opening scene: "what the? Oh I thought he was going to eat the worm."
"Oh so its his fault"
Sam: not before mister Frodo's had somthing to eat.
"Sam's got his priorities straight. Oohh do we still have some of your lambas bread? Wait not I ate it"
"Pippin is smoking weed, I want some."
As Eowyn gives Aragorn the drink:
"Eowyn is driving him isnt she?"
Me refusing to tell him who the "she" Smeagol is
Him: "its you isn't it? Your going to eat the hobbits."
Gandalf sleeping with his eyes open:
"Creepy fucker."
(Jokingly)"Aragorn and Legolas are gay"
"Haha 'You smoke to much' "
*arwen seeing her vision* *Oh she's hallucinating"
"Is that baby Aragorn? Oh no, the old guy's Aragorn"
"disrESPECT TO THE BOOK? HOW do you still like her? You stabbed me for dropping yours!"
*Gandalf telling pippin not to say anything* "oH so THAT'S why you say that to me"
*Denthor insulting Aragorn* "oh fuck this guy, Aragirns the one running around t;e wolrf protecting your fatass"
"Oohh the dead city is cool, it looks like that picture you drew"
"DAMNIT FRODO!" (×10)
"I like Farimir, he seems cool"
"I want a job where I just sit around drinking and set fire to shit"
"Come on Théoden, dont be a loser"
"Oh good hes not a loser"
(The ring dangling infront of Gollum/Smeagol) "grab it and run Gollum!"
*Gollum trying to convince Frodo that Sam eants the ring* "Fuck you buddy, Smawise just wants his potatoes and to snuggle with Frodo"
*Denthor saying he wished Farimer had died and Boromir lived* "Well somebody sure is loosing the perant of the year award" "he's sending him to his DEATH, yes Pippin, that is exactly my face right now"
"Oh come on Sam! Hit him harder! Kick him off the edge"
"Frodo- your going to trust the thing that tried to kill you over Sam?! SMEAGOL NEVER MADE YOU SOUP!"
"... I am done with this tomato eating son of a headghog and orc mutantv
"Merry, you nearly stabbed Eowyn!"
"I feel like Aragorn is the perfwct mix of stupid and brave"
"Théoden isnt even her real sad and he's still better than Denny dude."
"Noooooo I wamt to see Èowyn fight!"
"Ooooh its a ghost king. I thouht hey were just people living underground."
"I think the reason you don't date is because you need a guy like Legolas, or Aragorn. Èomer is also a candidate."
*as Gandalf knocks Denthor out* "YES! GO GANDALF!"
"TEELLLL ME WHO THE "SHE" IS! IS IT GOLLUMS GIRLFRIEND? DOES SHE HAVE CUSED JEWLY THAT MAKES HER EAT HOBBITS?"
"How many watts does that star pack?"
"I like Grond"
"So... Your saying Rohan has the most horse power?"
"Oh yeah, because Farimir hasn't gine through enough shit, lets burn him alove!"
"Go Gandalf! Smack the fucker!"
*Èowyn battling which king* "But since shes not a man dies that mean she might acctually kill him?"
*Legolas kills the Oliphant and slides down the trunk* "yeah no, you just need to date an elf"
*as the forces of Mordor suround them* "Wait does Legolas die?"
(Here is where I admit that I told him that Legolas, Aragorn, and Frodo die.)
"NO- WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME WATCH THIS?"
"Good aim Sam."
"The Eagles are here!"
"Frodoooooo whyyyyy"
*Aragorn fighting troll thing* "Kill my boy and see what happens..."
"YOU LIER! IT GOLLUM THAT GOES OVER THE CLIFF WITH THE RING"
(at this point I did get a book thrown at my head)
"YOU- THE BIRDS SAVE THEM!"
(Insert me convincing him that the reason that the lighting is weird when Frodo wakes up ids because they all died in the battle)
*the coronation* "Aw Farimir and Èowyn can help eachother get over their trauma."
"Wait I though Arwen died?"
"Wait so why does Frodo have to go to the inspiring lands?"

i just thought of this so sorry if it’s poorly explained but here goes
when dean was getting fucked up by the hellhounds and/or when sam was cradling his dead body and kissing him or whatever, some of dean’s blood got in his mouth. he doesn’t think much of it, too busy numbly burying dean and trying to figure out what to do next.
the night after he buries dean, we still see what we saw at the end of s3, but when dean screams for sam, we see sam wake up from a nightmare. he now has a psychic link to dean and sees a lot of what happens to him in hell, which obviously makes him even more crazy about getting dean out.
now. in 1.14 sam moves a cabinet with his mind because he knew dean was in danger and it made his powers stronger, like a reflex. so imagine applying that logic to sam’s abilities when he knows that dean is in hell. he goes full force awakens like ava and starts gaining the abilities of the other special children, but they only work consistently when it relates to getting dean out.
there are a bunch of demons (like ruby) that worship him and still think of him as the boy king and all that. so he manipulate/manwhores his way into gaining some very loyal demon subjects. they help him find a way to get dean out, and they have their crazy reunion in hell where dean thinks he’s hallucinating because they’ve been torturing him by using sam’s image. once sam shows that it’s really him dean’s like “wtf are you doing here” and sam’s like “you called me” and dean’s like ?!??!
once he gets dean out, the show would spend WAY more time on the aftermath of hell and also not made sam such an asshole in s4 for the plot. so they have some actually productive convos and they both respect each other and trust each other the most. now sam already knows a lot of what dean went through, so he respects him even more, and dean doesn’t feel pressure to share things. and dean trusts sam’s powers because he got him out and because he only ever uses them to help people. also dean knows enough about demons now that he knows not all of them are the same type of bad, and if they wanna kill alastair, that’s cool with him.
dean is upset and feeling guilty that sam had to go to hell for him, and he’s like “you shouldn’t have done that, sammy.” And sam just shrugs like “hey, you pulled me out of the fire twice. i still owe you one.” and dean’s like Oh.
also part of the vision is that dean is Fucked up now. the spell or whatever they did to get him out healed the really major stuff but there’s no angel healing so he’s covered in scars and it’s fucking badass. sam also got a little scarred on the trip. they both have hell flashbacks because sam saw a lot of it and they’re really clingy cause they don’t want to lose each other again. sam gets really overprotective and dean is like dude chill but he also finds it cute
as for actual plot, they’re on the run from alastair who wants dean back because he shouldn’t have escaped. but demons don’t just come right at them because a) they heard about the boy king and know he can fuck their shit up and b) most demons are scared of dean now too because he was alastair’s prodigy. so it’s more like they’re getting stalked at times, and cops keep getting possessed and trying to frame/arrest them.
basically instead of angel vs demon it’s two factions of demons: the ones on sam’s side and the ones on lilith/ alastair’s side. and sam is like we should just kill them they deserve it! but over time they realize that being obsessed with revenge is not a good way to live and that’s what got dad killed so they act smart about it instead.
idk i think the more the show started having ever present looming season-long villains, the less fun it got. gimme more roadkill and the usual suspects and shit. i don’t Need the world to be ending i just need samdean drama
Hey guyssssss ummm if you have a moment can you please tell me your ideas on what spn would’ve looked like with no angels and how sam would’ve saved dean from hell im going insane
the longer the better but obvs if you just have one idea laid out i’m gonna eat it up i just need ANYTHING
can be wincest or gen there’s licherally no criteria i just wanna know because i need to devour more of them

What really happened in those episodes between Sam and Hallucifer that we arent privy too? What secrets is Sams subconscious devil saying to him?
God, I loveee to contemplate what hallucifer is up to in the episodes we don’t see him in.
I think I’ve talked before about how much I like him trying to use things that happen with Amy to drive a wedge between them, specifically hallucifer offering his sympathy when Dean punches Sam out in that episode. (One of these days I’ll finish that fic of hallucifer coaxing Sam into getting an icepack for the bruise Dean gave him, constantly reminding Sam how much it hurts by asking him “Is that better? Does it feel better now?” and casting doubt on Dean’s very recent proposal to help Sam tell the difference between reality and his hallucinations like “Well, he saw that pain works. I guess he took that lesson to heart.”) but also, the idea of Sam having this nagging feeling that Dean did not leave well enough alone with Amy personified into the devil on his shoulder bugging him into looking up deaths in the area after they left or reminding him how little Dean has ever trusted him. (And even better, how gleeful hallucifer would be when Sam finds out Dean did go behind his back. Any time that Dean pushes Sam away from him and towards Lucifer is 💋)
Or hallucifer post-Slash Fiction (Sidenote but goddd I want to know what leviathan!sam’s hallucifer was saying. was he grumpy it wasn’t the real Sam?) using that time Dean & Sam are separated to insinuate himself into Sam’s good graces. Who says Repo Man was the first time he helped out on a hunt? We only know it was the first time Sam responded to him, and we also know Sam was working hunts while separated from Dean. (Now, canon says that separation was a week and a half, but I say it should be longer for drama’s sake. Maybe a month of one-on-one Sam & Hallucifer time.)
Okay, okay, last one I swear, (and first of all, if you remember that comment Dean made in Season Seven, Time for a Wedding! about Sam camping by himself in the desert, you neeed to read this fic: outwardly respectable by sheepishlion. Sets the goddamn bar for hallucifer fic, I tell ya.) but anyway! Lucifer during the Becky episode! Specifically! Remember when she had Sam tied to a bed and gagged! He’s still hallucinating during that! I think Lucifer should sit on the bed with him and talk about how ‘maybe he should have just fed Sam love potion, if it’s that easy to get an I do out of him like that’ and lamenting that he would have made a prettier bride (especially with Sam as his dress wink wink) and overall getting way too close to Sam until Becky drugging him again almost seems like a relief <3 (love when Sam has to pick the best of two bad options. So fun for me and not for him at all.)
Other thoughts is Let Us Hear Him Singing, Cowards. We were robbed of Sam trying to sleep in the Impala, nearly getting there, eyes shut, and then Lucifer singing just a litttle too loud for him to fall asleep again. Doesn’t even have to scream the lyrics, Sam’s that wound up.
Lucifer singing Hey, Jude to Sam <3 and in doing so, keeping Sam from falling asleep <3

A whole New meaning to long distance relationshipps
Cw: mentions of hallucinations and hand scars.
Summary: while Sam has one of his hallucinations of lucifer, jericó decides to help out.
A/n: for this, the hallucination Sam has is more of a ghost only he can see, my s/I can too because shes in a relationshipp with lucifer
-> only mutuals allowed to reblog.
Tumblr media
Sam sat frozen in place, thumbing the scar across his palm, he flinches but he doesnt stop.
Jerico looks at him and sighs internally, another of his hallucinations with lucy. Her eyes catch it and says-- Sammy?
--Uh- uhm what?-- He calls out. Then he deathglares the spot he was looking before.
--Is it lucy?
Sam sighed-- dont tell Dean.
The youngest winchester heard lucifer say "aww look at her. She still calls me by that petname. And really classy telling her to lie to Dean!"
--ill take that as a yes-- she said walking to the spot he was looking at and figuring out where lucifer would be standing.
Her eyes flash gold and she sees him standing infront of her-- hello, love
--Luci-- jeri Warned-- leave him alone
--Ah but its so much fun
--Leave him alone-- she repeated sternly.
-- I dont take orders from you
--i recall that being different in our bedroom but whatever-- at this, lucifer blushes and looks away-- leave him alone
He huffs and folds his arms over his chest-- he isnt payin' attention to me!
--What are you,five?-- jeri retorted.
Sam Recalled she was the only one who could stand up to lucifer. That, took balls.
--Listen to me really well lucifer, you leave Sam alone or so help me ill go down there and kick your ass myself. Ive had it up to here!-- she exclaimed, grabbing him by the collar of his jacket.
--I love it when you get bossy~ -- he flirted trying to put his hands on her waist.
--No touch.-- jerico declared pushing his hands back.
He sticks his forked tongue out and she pushes his jaw up to make him bite on it-- whats wrong with you woman! That hurted!
--Good. Leave him alone
He huffed and crossed his arms, dissapearing into thin air.
--...thanks-- Sam muttered, clearly embarassed.
Jeri Sat besides him, giving him a big hug-- thats what im here for
--Hes not gonna be happy between this and you being all over me...
--He can suck it-- she declared helping him lie down. She rests ontop of him and he hugs her tight.
--I know we had this conversation but what did you see in him?-- sam asked
--its a complicated answer. Hes not the most easy to be around. But deep down yknow...hes kinda good..
--Him? Kinda good?
--Just trust me...-- she replied-- he's not gonna bother you much now. If anything hes gonna give me the middle finger and pout
--Ill have a hard time containing my laughter-- he said closing his eyes-- you shouldve specified no nightmares either
--he knows it includes that too-- she explained-- rest, sammy
--Alright, thank you-- Sammy muttered.
--No need to..-- she whispers
Later, during the night, while jerico was sleeping in her own bed, she sensed a cold breeze going down her neck to her back, she sighs.
Her eyes flash gold and there he is, lucifer hugging her from behind, looking like a kicked puppy.
--Thats not gonna work-- she whispered.
--Alright. Alright. Sorry-- he replied-- I missed you
-- ah shit. C'mere-- she turns around and hugs him, he hugs back and she feels his wings drape over her.
--look. About Sam..im going too far I know
--Theres a "but" coming..
He chuckled-- but its fun to terrorize him
At this, jeri frowns-- I dont like it
--I know-- he said-- I wanted to say sorry
--but youll do it again
--I Will
--Im going to kick you out of bed
--wait dont!-- lucifer exclaims -- okay okay ill stop!
--Promise?
He sighed-- promise
His arms tighten his grip around her and his head rests ontop of her, her scent making him relax.
Jericos hands trace the singed feathers, being carefull of the damaged wings. Her gentleness always made him melt.
His lips press against her forehead, down to the bridge of her nose, and then her lips. She kisses back, relaxing against him.
--all that you told sam about me..is it true? -- luci Asks.
--It is
He hugs her tight, eyes watering-- I miss you so much
Jeri's nose nuzzles his chest-- I miss you too. If you dont bring the apocalypse you might be able to actually come up here
--Dont think so, sweetheart
--todo es posible en la viña del señor-- she said. (Everything is possible in the vineyard of the lord)
He groans and rolls his eyes-- fuck off
She snorts and both close their eyes. At least they had this to be toghether

Please and thank you? 🦇💘

A Paint Stroke For My Heart

Pairing: Josh Washington x GN!Reader
Warnings: slight hallucinations, mental health, but mainly fluff
Note: this is in the year between Hannah and Beth's disappearance and the night I did my best to respresent the grief Josh was going through along with his schizophrenia by using my own boyfriend's experiences to the best of my ability. If how I wrote this is harmful or inaccurate at all, please tell me and I will do my best to correct it or just take it down in general.

Gifts weren't something that Josh usually found coming back at him, he usually had to give first to get anything in return. No one ever just gave him something just to give him something, there always had to be this extra layer to it. When he was younger he was used to the piles of birthday/christmas gifts he would get along with his sisters; but the older they all got, the less and less their parents seemed to care to go above and beyond. Probably didn't help that they were always busy, the Washington children usually sharing the large home alone most days except on weekends when their dad would get off work but he would just tuck himself away to his office, still busy like a bee.
Maybe Josh missed when he was younger, playing baseball with his dad and Beth. Hannah and his mom always watching from the side and cheering him on when he would hit the ball and run from Beth to get to the base. Usually ending him getting tackled down to the ground by his younger sister as Beth would always mock him, saying how much stronger she was then him. But he never complained, he liked seeing his sister be so proud of herself for tackling down her brother.
Of course now, he didn't have that company through the week. He was a college drop out that just spent his time at home everyday, a large home yet so alone. His sisters weren't coming back, Chris spent all his time with Ashley, the only people that ever really visited were Sam and well you. You visited more than Sam, you spent more nights over with him than anything, making sure he didn't stay alone since he didn't trust himself to be alone. He was fragile, he couldn't deny that, and being alone in that giant home definitely didn't help in his favour of hating being alone.
On the occasion he would pass Hannah's or Beth's rooms, which was rare, he found himself just staring into the room. Memories of his sisters' smiling faces and laughs after they would pull a prank on him or overhearing the two gossiping in Hannah's room with Sam and you. It was worse when he found one of Hannah's spare change of glasses on the bedside table and he picked them up, just a flood coming back to him that he couldn't stop making him collapse to the ground and cry.
"I never wanted you to die."
He forgot how many times he's said that same sentence over and over to himself. Sometimes to his hallucinations of his sisters, who constantly blamed them for their disappearance/death. He wanted to crawl up in a ball and ignore the fact that he existed, no amount of drugs could help himself.
"Hey Josh can you hand me the blue?" Josh's attention left the corner of the room where a painting of his sisters was on the wall towards you where you sat at the kitchen table. Multiple different paints around you and a canvas in the middle. He looked over at the bottom of the table where the little cup of blue paint was. He nodded kneeling down to grab the blue for you.
Before he could peak at your painting, you covered his view from the canvas, shaking your head, "It's a surprise, be patient." Josh nodded sitting down at the kitchen table with you, slumping his face into his crossed arms like a pillow as he glanced over at you. You looked at him, a small smile on your lips, "are you okay?"
He shook his head, he never was okay. Even if he wanted to be okay, he knew he wasn't. Dr Hill didn't help, his parents barely acknowledged him, someone who was supposed to be his bestfriend only wanted to hang out with his crush, you were truly all he had.
You felt his palm against the back of your hand, stopping your brush strokes as you looked over at him, watching him raise your hand up to his lips and feeling him leave a soft kiss to the back of your hand and continuing to hold it close to him. You smiled softly at him, rubbing his hand with your thumb as you whispered, "did you take your medication today?"
"Yeah," Josh's face was covered by his arms as he nuzzled his face away and grumbled, "not that they help."
"Hey," he felt your comforting hand on his head as he peaked up at you from his enclosed arms, "you don't have to suffer through this alone, you know I'm here and you're never alone, I'll never leave you alone."
He shrugged to himself, covering his face back into his arms. Sure hiding away was bad and didn't make the voices go away, but at least he didn't have to see them with their constant reminder of how much of a failure of a brother he was that night. Even if you tried to tell him as much as you could, he always knew that he was right; he was truly one huge failure.
"You wanna see it?" Josh peaked his eye out once more over to you, holding the painting to your ches with a cheeky smile on your lips.
He only nodded, still deep in his grief, as you turned the painting around to face him. His eyes blinked at the canvas trying to look it over and understand.
It looked like him, in the corner of the canvas with a skull beside him with eyes and all other kinds of things that he liked. Cameras, novels, all kind of things that he usually hid from people that were his interests. Josh's smile was small but definitely still there as he looked over the trippy painting, you made it for him. It was for him, it was confusing. Did you want somehting in return for this? Most people usually did when they gave him stuff but as he looked into your genuine eyes, he knew that you did this out of the kindness of your heart.
All he did was smile, his index finger stroking the painting feeling the dry paint strokes against his finger. His eyes were fixated on it, something that was actually his without consquence. It was his. This painting was his. You were his.
"You like it?" you asked softly, leaned down on your arms and trying to look into Josh's eyes as his eyes met yours.
"I love it," Josh smiled, a genuine one, not his fake one he usually put on for people so they would stop giving him those stupid pity looks. He hated hearing "sorry" or having to look into someone's face and just seeing the pity. He didn't want it. He wanted his sisters back. All he had was you now, even if that was enough for him, he still missed Hannah and Beth more than anything. And he would always miss them, he understood that even though it was hard.
You truly were his saving grace. Something as simple as watching you paint made his heart swell. You truly were found a way to turn his cold black heart into just a little bit of a rainbow by being there.

Fearless
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x fem!reader
Warnings: Angst. Major character death (?)
Synopsis: After the death of your lover, you spend the night on the dance floor, when Bucky returns in your arms once more. Complicated feelings muddle your reunion (Basically Bucky faking his death).
Word Count: 1.3K (this is fairly short)
A/N: WHO’S IN THE MOOD FOR ANGST? this was heavily inspired by that one scene in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Gif is for illustration purposes only, there are no defining physical traits for the reader.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Wait for me. I’ll be coming home, wait for me.”
Music fills the room, and lovers take to the dance floors. Men kiss their sweethearts sweetly. Women giggle in delight.
You shouldn’t be here. You don’t have a lover.
At least not anymore.
You sit alone at a table, hair done and body tucked into a nice black dress. You look beautiful. No one could even tell you’re in mourning.
A 40s love song plays. How perfect.
You watch an old couple take the dance floor. Their frail bodies hold each other close as they sway to the rhythm. That could have been you and Bucky in another life. You hate them. You envy them, because you could never have what they have. You wish they would drop dead.
Maybe spending your night here was a bad idea.
It was a long forgotten idea to go dancing for date night. You suggested it, Bucky agreed, but the timing never really lined up for you and him to attend one of these things. It just so happens there’s a slot tonight and you happen to have all the time in the world now. Might as well.
You down another glass of wine, wiping away another tear that slips out. You’re impressed with yourself at how you’re still keeping it together. With all the alcohol you’ve consumed and the added weight of grief, you should be black out crying on the floor, but you’re quiet, just watching everything when all you want to do is scream at the world.
“Tears for an old foe?”
The familiar voice makes your body freeze. No... it can’t be. That’s not possible. Are you hallucinating? Has grief made you delusional?
The voice behind you grows closer, a metal hand plucks the wine glass from yours, then you’re faced with the face that haunts your days and dreams. He’s real. He’s here. He’s alive.
His tender eyes gaze upon yours. “Sweetheart.”
You should be overjoyed, happy, over the moon that the man you love is still alive and well. You should be jumping in his arms, kissing him and feeling him. But you don’t. You’re angry.
You huff, standing up abruptly walking away in stomps. You’re furious.
You’re out the building, the sound of music muffled in the background. Bucky follows quickly after you. Your anger turns into hot tears. You’re sobbing now.
He gestures to hold you close, but you slap his hands away. You turn, angry at him. All of the pent up misery you bottled up slipping out of your mouth.
“You were dead!” You let out, screaming. “They told me they found your body, your lifeless body. The team grieved for you. Steve cried. Sam was a mess. I grieved for you! And you’re here dandy and alive?”
Bucky lets you vent. You can tell he wants nothing more than to hold you, but he keeps his distance. His face shows every bit of guilt and remorse. He doesn’t even look harmed. No signs of injuries as far as you can tell, he’s even wearing a nice black suit to match your black dress. He looks fantastic.
“I had to fake my death. Trust me, it was the best thing for me to do.” He explains calmly.
You stomp towards him, the explanation doing nothing to ease your anger. “And you couldn’t tell me? Tell anyone from the team? Not even Steve?”
“It was better that no one knows. So I could come back to you actually alive.”
Both of you stand there on the cold concrete, the moon and the few street lights illuminating each other’s figures. You breathe heavily, heartbreak still fresh in your bones.
You knew what you were signing up for when you gave Bucky your heart. He’s an avenger. His life is on the line every single day. You know you shouldn’t have gotten attached. You know you should have been careful, but he made you fall in love with him. You accepted long ago the risk that came with loving Bucky Barnes, because he was worth it, your love was worth it. It was only now you realize how painful life would be once you lose him, which could be the next mission tomorrow, the next year, or today. It terrifies you.
More tears slip out from your eyes. You hit his chest, pounding your fists. “I hate this! I hate this feeling and I hate you for making me feel this way! Fuck you!” You sob. You can’t breathe, voice coming out in pants.
He takes your punches, he doesn’t pull away, instead he wraps his arms around your shaking body, pulling you close. Your punches eventually weaken, until they cease and you’re ultimately crying in his arms.
He shushes you, rubbing comforting circles on your back. “I’m here. I’m right here.” He whispers close to your ear. He plants a loving kiss on your ear. “I got you.”
The movement calms your nerves, until you’re clinging to him. The feel of his arms feels so good, you don’t ever want to let go. Just a couple of nights ago you thought you would never feel this again.
“You can’t do this to me, Bucky. This is gonna kill me.” You say, voice soft. You’re tired.
Bucky closes his eyes, pain and regret settling in his bones. He hates seeing you like this, even more so that he’s the cause. “I’m so sorry.” was all he could say.
You stay there, just holding each other. The muffled sound of the music becoming a weird comfort.
You eventually pull back to face him. “Now you can’t ever die. You’re not allowed to leave me again, ever. Because I don’t think I could go through this again. I can’t, I refuse.”
“Darling...” he frowns, caressing your face.
“Not now that you’ve given me hope. When you die I’m always going to expect you to come back like you did tonight. You did this. You gave me hope, so don’t you ever die on me. Do you understand me?” Your gaze on him never falters, for the first time tonight you spoke clearly.
Bucky smiles, but it holds a tinge of sadness. “I’m not dying, sweetheart. You’re going to have me until you’re sick of me.”
Your lip trembles. “Promise me.”
Bucky’s heart twinges in pain. If he did that he would be lying, and he knows you know that too.
Still, he leans close, breath fanning over yours. “I promise.”
You close the gap between you, dying to kiss your lover. You savor the kiss, pulling him closer than ever. The kiss pierce through your body. Tongues slide against each other and you try to etch every taste, every feel of him in your brain. The fear of him leaving is embedded in you now.
You ignore the lie he just told. You very well know the situation you’re in. Nothing’s guaranteed and it was unfair of you to ask him to promise differently in the first place. But you needed to hear him say it. He lied to you about his death, he could stomach lying about your future. At least tonight.
You eventually part, foreheads pressed against each other. He gently kisses the top of your head. You feel him smile. “This is our song.”
It was in fact your song playing. The sound remains muffled, but you can still hear it clearly. The memory of your first dance puts a smile on your face. That feels like forever ago.
He takes your hand with his warm hand and wraps your waist with his metal arm. “Can I have this dance?”
Nothing about the situation should make you feel like dancing, but with the music playing with just the two of you on the cold pavement, it was the perfect moment for a dance.
You nod, smiling. You sway there, not exactly dancing but swaying to the rhythm. You look like any other couple enjoying a dance, but you don’t have the luxury of growing old together like other couples do.
Your hold on Bucky tightens. As long as he’s yours to keep, he’s yours to lose.
-
Feel free to imagine whatever their song is, but I did write this to Unchained Melody.
Please leave feedback or a reblog if you enjoyed! Thank you!

Whumptober Day 2: Caged
A falling cage in a cave?  Really?  This asshole's watched the Indiana Jones movies a few too many times, that's all I'm sayin'.
Sam knows that voice better than his own: it's Dean, offering his brand of coping mechanism to a shitty situation.  Make fun of the situation, make it small and unimportant, and obviously the cause of the situation will be small and unimportant too.
It'd be more comforting if he didn't know for a fact that Dean was miles away in Tucson, staking out that run-down ranch home on the outskirts, coyote scat in the yard and suspicious sigils spray-painted on the siding—the people in the neighborhood had all made sad noises about gang signs and drug houses and how you couldn't trust your neighbors anymore, but he and Dean had broken in and found an altar, standing there in the middle of the living room—
How did they even know you were going to be standing there?  How long did they take to set this thing up?  Hell—how did they maintain the mechanisms?  We're in the middle of nowhere, they must've been hauling 3-in-1 oil out here every week.  Awful lot of work for a Looney Tunes trap.
It's just a voice.  His own coping mechanism his brain's taken on, a byproduct of current and recent events.  He pictures it as an equation, imagines writing it on graph paper in no. 2 pencil:  recent trauma x current stress = hallucinations.  He winds his fingers around the iron of the cage bars, tries not to focus on the looming dread that's forming around the void where monster we’re fighting should be in his brain—
I guess if this is a Looney Tunes trap, that makes you the Roadrunner, huh?  Did they put out a pile of birdseed for you?  Are there any giant red Xs around?
Sam tightens his grip, feels the rough texture of the metal.  "Primitively forged," he mutters to himself, or tries to; his lips form the words, but the air only comes out in a whisper, his voice caught somewhere in his throat.  "Basic industrial skill?  Or advanced scavenging and repurposing?"  He wishes he had a Dictaphone, or a notepad—anything more than a darkened smartphone with the screen cracked where he landed on it, anything to focus on, to keep him from noticing the way the cadence of the voice in his head is changing, taking on that all-too-familiar lilt, the childish I-know-something-you-don't-know musicality—
Oh, nooo, that's right, the roadrunner never falls for the birdseed, does he?  Poor Sammy, outwitted by a dim bulb of a coyote—guess your brother was wrong, you aren't actually the smart one.  Sure, you talk a good game, but it's all just regurgitated trivia from books, isn't it?  Little Sammy, so desperate for his father's love, for his brother's attention, he'll do anything to keep from being left behind again—
Sam's jaw tightens.  It's almost better, the despair that Lucifer's voice touches off in his mind; it's permission, in a way, to sink into hopelessness.  Dean's voice is false hope, cheer, determination; when Lucifer comes out, the game is up, and there's nothing to be done except to grit his teeth and endure—
—except—maddeningly—something's touching off a series of connections in his brain.  Dimwit coyote.  Coyote scat in the yard, altar in the living room.  Coyote, a trickster legend, just the sort of deity to drop a cage on a nosy hunter in a cave somewhere—and they're in the desert Southwest, dust-dry and disjunct, ghost towns and gold mines, the sort of environment that breeds isolation, superstition, dysfunction—and religion—
Such an isolated childhood you had, Sammy—guess it's no wonder you prayed all the time, what else could you do?  Shame you didn't have any creativity, it was all about Dad, the least likely deity to answer your prayers...now these folks, they've stumbled on an actual god to pray to, something that'll actually show up and cause some mayhem.  Bummer for Dean, though, if he's in the blast radius—
Sam pulls out his phone, glossy black screen dark, cracks spiderwebbing across it, and prays.  Holds the power button, waits to see if the screen lights up.  Holds his breath, wishes for some sort of sound, even the drip, drip of a stalagmite somewhere to mark the passing of time, but the silence is oppressive, his finger on the button for nearly an eternity—
The screen lights up.  Sam lets out his breath with a whoosh, lets the phone boot, the interface cheerful, colorful, badly cracked.  Not enough signal for a call, but maybe for a text—he swipes, taps, curses as he cuts his finger, bright red left backlit against the screen.  Typing is out of the question; the keyboard is the midst of the web, a chunk in the center gone permanently dark—but there, off to the side, if he can just tap the microphone icon, activate the text-to-speech—
Funny thing, trauma, the voice observes.  It shuts down the brain's speech centers, did you know that?  Literally bypasses them.  I guess that'd explain the low-rent Helen Keller thing you've got going on.  A little hum, the verbal equivalent of a smug smile.  If only you could let me speak through you—
Sam moves his mouth into the shape of a D sound, takes a breath.  Just one.  Just one sound, one word, and more will follow—he forces his diaphragm up, pushing breath out through his throat, a raspy whisper—Deeee—and he just has to hold back the laughter, keep the guffaws that are pervading his mind from bubbling up into his voice—

Phic Phight - Dyin’ And Dash
For: @roundaboutnow @phan-pheeking-tastic @lunastarthecat @echoghost1 @fruity-hub-blog @frootysparkycakes @cleanlenins
Sometimes Jazz felt like she was the only real adult in the family, but she was for sure the only one that didn’t think ‘ignore it ‘till it goes away’ was some form of a good plan. And FrostBite just wants the Great One to be treated right.
Jazz was busy making food, bacon specifically, in the quiet kitchen. Normally she liked when the house was quiet, when things were calm and peaceful. But right now that wasn’t the case. The silence was awkward and outright unhealthy. Her parents both fiddling with inventions on the table half-heartedly, occasionally making faces or shaking their heads. Sometimes it seemed like one of them was actually going to speak up, her paying a little more attention every time, but then they never did. It was making her tense but she was also entirely done with it. Tired.
For the first week or two it was okay, understandable even. Her parents had had their world rocked, beliefs shattered, and years upon years of research invalidated. And Danny running off didn’t encourage them to speak up either. Danny doing that also made sense at least, being scared and probably needing to be somewhere he felt more safe. The fact that his home wasn’t the place he felt most safe was extremely unhealthy though. Even more so when the thing that made him feel unsafe was them knowing what he was; was the truth being out.
Maybe if she had been home things would have gone differently. But Danny just would not be open with her about when his change happens. She’s tried to tell him that knowing was important but, well, she guesses it’s just very personal to him. Almost like being at the very moment he died again and again. She didn’t think it was healthy for him to just, be alone, during the change; but he simply wasn’t ready, and she’s not going to break his trust by actually asking their parents what time it was. And maybe, her not knowing and thus not being around to distract their parents, was for the best. Because without seeing his change, she genuinely doubts they would have ever believed him about his halfa status. About what he is. But when you see something , you can’t deny it’s real unless you want to try and tell yourself it’s an hallucination. Which Jazz solidly would not stand for in this situation. And maybe his change working as it did was for the best to, him being unable to stop it, even if being stuck ghost for the next twelve hours likely only encouraged him to run off all the more.
But that very running away was making this situation worse. Originally he had returned home once he was human again, which she’d expected after getting a panicked call from Tucker saying that Danny had texted him that ‘they know’, that she of course rushed home immediately after getting. Making sure to let both of Danny’s friends know that he wasn’t there and that their parents were not trying to hunt him down. She hadn't expected both of them to clamp up, especially Jack, when she tried to talk to them about what happened. All she could get out of them then was that ‘they saw him change’, and nothing more. And she was okay with that, at the time, needing to think about things and sort through your own head after a big discovery was acceptable and healthy. Doing that for a month, was not. And at this point, if this goes on any longer ‘not talking about it’ was going to settling in as the normal. Which she was absolutely not tolerating. Problem was, when Danny had come back, he had only stuck around tippy-toeing around, giving their parents weird awkward looks, and jumping at sudden sounds especially if they were metallic; before he ran off again.
At least she knows where his is this time. Her, Sam, and Tucker, were all well aware that Danny’s getaway of choice was, without fail, the FarFrozen. The ghost yetis. From what she’s heard, they’re really fun, tough warriors, and they all absolutely adored Danny; worshipped him some actually. They were good for him, but this avoidance absolutely wasn’t. Flipping the bacon and shaking her head, at this point she’s done staying silent. Nodding to herself before plating the bacon, both sides evenly heated after a few seconds, turning around and dropping her parents plates down on the table very loudly; making both of them jump and look at her confused.
Jazz grabs her own plate and sits down, folding her hands together and leaning forward, “this is enough. Tell me what happened, in detail, and try to leave emotions out of it till the end”.
They blink, confused, at her. Her dad frowning, “Jazzy-”.
“No none of that. We’re having a talk and then we are talking to Danny. But I have to have the details here, first. So, what happened. Talk anitalticly if you have to”.
The two parents share a look before her mom sighs, the pair looking back to her, “okay, alright…”. And the conversation, a real conversation, begins.
---
—One Month Prior—
Danny was trying to pound through the dumb little essay Lancer had given everyone as a surprise long weekend project. Saying they needed to keep busy and would have lots of time since they didn’t have classes. Not that that meant Danny would actually have any more free time! Sure schooling took up some time but not that much; plus there was no one to force him to work on schoolwork at home really. Except when his sister found out he was behind on something. But why would he want to spend the free time he did have doing schoolwork? He’d rather be relaxing or doing something that he actually enjoyed doing! Schoolwork just felt like a waste of time anyway.
But unfortunately, he got so focused in on things that when his folks had called that supper would be up soon and he had just yelled at them to bring it to him; completely unaware of the time. Big mistake. A big mistake that he had realised when his left fingers had jerked and had their spasms halfway through writing the little paragraph on the symbolism of lilies of different colours (Ancients, what a waste of time). Him pausing, lifting his hands off the keyboard and staring a little, well shit. Grabbing his upper arm and hissing a little before pulling the limb to his chest. He’d gotten used to it hurting a little, but that still didn’t mean it didn’t hurt.
And then his bedroom door opened, his dad busting in, bellowing like he usually did, “food for working bellies!”. His mom sticking her head in as well, “Jack, you forgot the orange juice, the milks no… good”, her petering off when she finally saw him. Danny sitting pushed back from his desk some, clutching his left arm with a death grip while it spasmed, staring wide-eyed at them. Jack dropped the plate when Danny’s eyes started fizzing to a neon glowing green.
Danny snapping his eyes shut once he realised, trying to grit out, “oh. You can, take it back, back down. Decided, I, um, want to have, food down, with you, guys”, and trying to smile without it looking too much like a wince. But he already knows it’s too late, feeling his rings sparking to life even though he was futilely trying to force them to stay in his core.
“Danny? Danny!”.
He doesn’t need to guess to know that his mom just ran over to him, seeing as he collapsed out of his chair. Crouching on the ground, on his hands and knees, and panting through the rings and the way they felt like they were burning him but without the pain of burning as they past.
“Jack!”.
His dad trying to grab the rings, which always felt like someone was trying to shove their hand into his core. Danny pulling away and closer to the ground, “don’t!”, and glad when the rings finish their job and dissipate. Him spawning a little, popping his eyes open to white hair and panicking now that he wasn’t stuck in his change.
They saw that!
He didn’t want anyone to see that!
But more than anything. They knew what and who he was now. This was BAD. Him using a hand to push himself off the floor and towards a wall. His energy not quite settled enough to be phasing through anything; but his hand is to the wall repeatedly trying desperately, and he’s gonna keep trying ‘till it works goddamnit.
They stare at the ground where he just was for a beat before moving their eyes then heads to look at him slowly.
“D-Danny?”.
His dad just stares.
Danny swallowing, “ah?”, and then phases through the wall with a startled look. They had run at the wall almost immediately, Maddie moving to look out his window, barely spotting him having landed in some trash below before he turned invisible.
And while the two parents stared down before Jack slumped down onto the floor and Maddie sat on the edge of Danny’s bed just staring at the floor. While they were doing that, Danny had panicked and ripped open a portal to the first place he could think of where he would get left alone. Riverlitheof all places, Nocturne’s domain. His body felt so taught with nerves and panic that passing out felt like an ideal situation and he knows Nocturne won’t harm him? Won’t harm him so long as he does actually sleep anyways. And unsurprisingly the ghost had scooped him up immediately, scowling over their land being intruded upon. But Danny’s too busy thinking up horrible nightmare scenario's to care. And Nocturne, like always with a dream ghost, the ghost god of sleep and dreams and nightmares, they could see his slight waking visions of horror; and Danny knew that.
They shake their head at him, “you never sleep well enough, little one”, using their night sky blanket-like cloak body to lay him down on one of the cushion clouds, “no more nightmares for now”.
Danny just whimpers and curls in on himself some, what was he even supposed to do now? with everything? He didn’t want to be taken apart piece by piece so they could see how he worked. He didn’t want them to hate him or think he was a freak. And he very well couldn’t go back as he was now. Muttering, “I didn’t know where else to go”. He didn’t want anyone to baby him or what to ‘have a talk’ or try to play with him like everything was normal and fine. He wanted to not be anywhere and just turn off. Nocturne… Nocturne could do that.
And the ghost nods, sending the stressed out halfa on a peaceful ride through the dreamscape for a while.
---
Jazz nods, for her the story stopped with Jack and Maddie going down to the lab and staring at all the samples and readings they’d taken over the past three years of Danny’s supposed ecto-contamination and of Phantom’s being; eventually passing out down there with everything they thought they knew collapsing in around them and evidence of something that they should have seen and realised long ago. Jazz nodding, after all, passed out in the lab is how she came home to find them before waking them up and trying to question them. Trying and failing of course. That’s part of why they’re here now. And why Danny’s not.
Jazz nodding at them, “alright”. They both nod back slowly.
Her dad looking at his hands, fiddling with them, “so… that was, uh, real?”. Jazz nods slowly, “yeah. Though I’m not the one you should be asking that to”. Her mom glancing up towards where Danny’s room was, “when will he be coming back”, frowning and clutching the rim of her empty plate, “where'd my baby go”.
“Somewhere else he feels safe”.
Jack frowning, “and that’s not here?”.
“Why would it be, dad. You guys walked in on something he was hiding and you’ve hurt him many times. But Amity in general honestly isn’t really a safe place for him either; I don’t think I need to point out why”.
The two parents share a look, both looking back to Jazz. Maddie speaking up, “because he’s fighting all the time”. Jazz nods softly. Her pushing herself to stand up, “now, like I said, this has gone in long enough. I’m going to bring him back here and we’re going to have a conversation”. They both look nervous and unsure, a little upset even. So she gives them a hard look, “I know what I need to and this radio silence isn’t doing anyone any good. Go sit on the couch and don’t run up and hug him or anything when I get him”, and heads upstairs so she can grab one of her little summoning papers, she had to make a point to memorise Danny’s sigil so she could assure herself of her ability to summon him if she had to get him out of somewhere or to somewhere. The two parents do as they're told, having some faith in their daughter that she knew best right now.
---
Danny, meanwhile, was playing a game of snowdew fox throwing with ShardHeart, technically his dodging was better than hers but well, he wasn’t really trying to avoid getting hit by the cuddly fox-like creatures that adored being roughed up and thrown about. Besides, getting pelted by stuff felt good, felt normal. Especially when it wasn’t accompanied by pain. Both turning their heads at the beautiful crystals bell of the banquet hall chiming out. Heh, nice, food time. Danny throwing a smirk at ShardHeart before bolting off, the older ghost giving chase right after; not that she expected to win though.
Danny landing inside and sending a smile ColdStep’s way, “so what’s on the menu this morning?”. The guard chuckles, “bellan brisket and shavinary, I believe Great One”. And then ColdStep absolutely beams when Danny proclaims that: “oh! I love bellan brisket!”. A small voice carrying over from where the icebakes were, “oh I’m not surprised by that, you have some peculiar tastes”, and SunkenBlink steps out levitating the food behind her, “you know, bellan brisket is meant to be a punishment of sorts, my lord”.
Danny rolls his eyes, “tastes like it would make for a great smoothie to me”. And someone else can be heard gagging. And yeti gagging sounded pretty funny in Danny’s opinion, kinda like a cat about to have a hair ball but bass-boosted and with a ghostly echoing to it.
FrostBite walking in to bows from his people before smacking Danny one on the back, “you’d be the one to say that! But I’d say dig in then!”, laughing heartily, “I’m sure the little uns would be happy with you putting a dent in the portions. Though do keep in mind we’re supposed to be fasting right now”.
Danny chuckles very awkwardly, “yeah yeah, I know, Frostypa. I won’t stuff myself”, and he frankly wouldn’t want to when he was hours away from his change time. It was more difficult to handle ecto-food when he was human.
Danny getting halfway through the -larger than everyone else- portion of food he took for himself when FrostBite asks, like he did every day, “do you intend to stay with us this full turn of the cycle?”. Danny nodding, making the large yeti sigh, “we’re glad to have you as always, but even I must say that it’s been quiet some time. I’m sure you’re greatly missed, Great One”.
Danny rubs his neck awkwardly, blushing green a little, “oh I don’t know”, frowning, “I’m not sure I’m even wanted there at all”.
FrostBite shaking his head immediately, “makers and guardians alike love their young, always-”.
Danny butting in, “no. Not always. Well, guardians maybe, but markers? Not so much”.
“For a maker not to, that would be tantamount to treason against the whole”.
“Humans aren’t communal like that, Frosty. To mine being friendly like this with ghosts is the horrible thing”.
FrostBite sighs and shakes his head, munching a little, “well you certainly can’t avoid them forever, young hero”. In all honestly, FrostBite wasn’t sure how he felt about The Great Ones makers, he had seldom heard good things. And they were hurting him by their actions and intolerances. The Great One was stressed and overly burdened by much, he wished there was more he could do beyond the FarFrozens open doors; which were open to very very few. But… swallowing and stick up a single claw, “on better subjects, I have something for you”. watching the boy's eyebrows raise, “oh?”. FrostBite nods, “I think you’ll like it! And-”, giving him something of a judgmental look, “-it’ll encourage you to be a little closer to that ghostly heritage and maybe help with your nerves over future problems”. The Great One doesn’t look like he knows what to make of that, but once he finishes his own food and FrostBite gets up, he follows readily and curiously.
FrostBite popping open one of the farming doors, waving The Great One over to the blob fields. Moving them around with a hearty laugh, The Great One laughing himself some, until FrostBite finds the one he’s looking for. Picking up a truly exquisite specimen, crystal blue with a slightly transparent body, lighter blue icy ectoplasm swirling around inside and sparkling wonderfully. Turning to The Great One and holding out the blob, the little guy looked just big enough to be used as a pillow by the smaller ghost… half-ghost.
Danny blinking, going a little wide-eyed, “oh! Is… are they for me? Are you giving? me a blob ghost? Why?”; he’s legit confused, but he does like the distraction. Watching FrostBite nod eagerly, grinning, “yup!”, holding out the blob a little more, “they’re pretty common pets, you know. They’re great emotional and physical support pets too, they can be crutches or just cuddle buddies”, chuckling, “they won’t even complain if you sap some energy from them to replenish yourself”, plopping them down in his hands when he actually holds said hands out, “but mostly, for you really, they’re good for stress, fidgeting, they’re an ice type so they’re cooling to the touch if you need to calm down or bring down swelling on an injury”, shaking his head and putting his paws on his hips, “honestly you should have gotten one some time again. But it takes a while to specially breed one”.
Danny blinks, tearing up a little, genuinely touched, “you specially breed them for me”, looking up from the blob to FrostBite with a level of awe, “I- thank you, FrostBite. Really”. And the yeti was right, this would probably help him a ton, he had no idea blob ghosts were anything more than pests or general fauna that just kinda floated around. FrostBite pats him on the head and ruffles up his hair, “of course!”, smiling, “you are our saviour, though I care for you beyond that. And you need something like this, truly”, and hugs The Great One.
And it was at that very moment the glowing lights of a summoning circle swirled open directly underneath Danny. The two only having enough time to look down in surprise before being teleported away.
---
—Moments Ago—
Jazz walked into the living room, holding up a square of paper, “this is a summoning card. I know Danny’s sigil by heart in case of emergencies”. Walking over somewhat near the armchair and nicking herself with the corner of the paper so she can draw out the mark, “and yes you have to use your own blood for these, hence why they’re not used often”.
The two parents just nod while the paper glows faintly before lighting on white fire, Jazz letting go and the paper simply floating, flaming in the air. Jack can’t help but blurt out, “woah!”. Making Jazz roll her eyes with a smile. The flames swirling out, bigger than she was expecting and making Jazz step back some, before revealing TWO stunned figures inside.
Jazz blinks harshly.
Jack openly gapes.
Maddie squeezes her knees and resists drawing out some kind of weapon.
Danny squeaks of all things.
FrostBite tightens his grip on the Great One.
And then the blob starts making upset warbling sounds.
Danny and FrostBite snapping their heads down to the complaining blob, gliding apart some. Danny glancing back to his parents’ nervously and planting his feet slowly on the ground; FrostBite copying him probably to be polite or seem like less of a threat.
Jazz shakes herself off mentally, this was an unexpected surprise and a serious hiccup. Getting their parents to talk with Danny as Phantom still was one thing, but a full large ghost they’ve never seen before? It might very well be asking too much. But also, eyeing the… yeti’s solid gold finery and the ice arm, “are you FrostBite?”. The ghost looks surprised, eyebrows raising so much it practically changes his entire face, “oh! Well yes, yes I am”, stepping forward but only by one step when he spots the Great Ones makers, he assumes, tensing, “and you must be Jazz then, I take it?”. Jazz nodding and smiling readily, glad she was right on where Danny was and also having heard more than a little fond gushing from Danny about FrostBite particularly.
Maddie swallows, opening her mouth once, twice, then finally managing to actually speak up, “FrostBite?”, shaking her head and biting her lip, making a point to look at Danny, “Danny, sweetie.. are you, alright?”. Jack looking to his wife then back to Danny, “I think we’ll all need to talk”, forcing a bit of a smile, “it’s been a while”.
-
Jazz looks around at everyone, nodding curtly to herself before eyeing Danny, “you, sit. I’m tired of everyone avoiding each other and everything that came out. So we’re having an intervention”, and points to the armchair. Danny eyeing the chair before just kind of shuffling over to it and sitting down, blob ghost buddy settling down in his lap. Well, here’s hoping there really is something to be said for the emotional support of something round and squishy; him putting a hand on top of them to seem a little less stiff, “yeah”, clearing his throat and sounding a little stronger, “yeah we do”. FrostBite also nods to himself, taking a couple steps back as subtly as he can, and just kinda goes to stand awkwardly behind the Great One, near a corner. Perfectly content and willing to defend him if he must. Verbally or physically.
Jazz sits down herself, crossing her legs and folding her hands over one knee, “alright, so”, looking to Danny, “mom and dad explained matter of factly what happened. So what we’re going to do now, since the family’s all in the loop, is talk about it. Not everything, but enough”, and nods curtly to herself, looking to their parents, because really, they have to start. They were the parents and they had done wrong by Danny. The only thing Danny ever did wrong by them was hiding himself, which was their own fault to a degree.
Maddie nodding, shifting on the couch some, “well, ah, are you okay?”. Danny blinks a little, slightly startled, “um, yes?”. Jazz puts her head in her hands, gesturing at their dad to ask something instead. Their dad letting out a small breathless laugh before looking to Danny, “the episode thing”, shrugging helplessly, “I don’t know want it’s called or anything”, rubbing his neck, “ah, so that didn’t seem very fun. Did… that hurt? You’re okay from that?”. His wife giving him a thankful look.
Danny squirming, that was kind of the last thing he really wanted to talk to anyone about. But… shrugging, “it does but it doesn’t”, shrugging again, “it’s more like… a muscle memory of hurt than actually hurting. It’s just kinda normal though so…”, and shrugs for a third time, the blob making little squeaky noises, so Danny gives them a little pat; not noticing FrostBite’s small smile at that.
his mom frowns, “that’s… normal?”. Danny nods, Maddie gesturing at him, “and this, this looking like Phantom? Being Phantom? That’s normal too”. Jack butting in, “and how, if that’s cool to ask”.
Danny grimacing, “I’m Phantom yeah, always have been. The portal accident… kinda killed me”, quickly adding on, “but it didn’t stick”, shrugging, “or it only stuck half the time”.
“So sometimes your alive, sometimes you’re not?”.
“Pretty much. It’s a half and half thing”, pressing little patterns into the top of the blob and watching their ‘skin’ indent, “twelve hours human, twelve ghost. And my ghost time is marked by, well, by the time of my death I guess”. He’s not surprised he can see them cringe at that from the edge of his vision. his dad frowning, “so when we walked in on.. that, it was the time you died at”.
Danny nodding and looking to Jazz with a raised eyebrow. She shakes her head, “they didn’t tell me and I didn’t ask; and I don’t plan to”. Danny grins at that, meaning it when he says, “thanks”, looking back to his parents, “I don’t really like anyone knowing the when. I don’t really have a choice with the how, but the when is just personal I guess”, and tries playing it off a little with a shrug. The blob bumps his chin, which does genuinely make him feel a little better.
Jack laughs a little too loud, making Danny jerk a little while the man speaks, “well we don’t really remember the when! So you’re good!”, sighing and deflating a little, “we were focused on suddenly finding out about you and all that. All the research and everything else that has to be wrong and how we could have possibly missed this”, rubbing his neck, “us being kinda awful to you”.
Maddie smiles faintly at Jack, then pursing her lips at Danny, “but all the robberies, and threatening the old mayor. What was all that?”. Jack instantly butting in, “the ‘stealing’ our stuff is whatever, technically it was yours already anyways!”. Which does make Danny let out a single laugh.
Danny grimacing though, “the robbery thing, I wasn’t willing in that. Mind control sceptre situation. And the old mayor was framing me, he was possessed by a ghost that just really hates me”.
FrostBite scoffs in the background, “Walker isn’t worth half his ectoplasm”. Danny smiling a little at the ghost, following up with, “and none of his fearsomeness”, before looking back to his parents awkwardly, “so, uh, just misunderstandings?”.
Both of his parents exchange a look before sighing and sending him smiles. His dad speaking up first, “glad to hear that! Really!”. Maddie nodding, “so I guess we really had you wrong then”. Danny just shrugs. Her biting her lip, eyeing the massive ghost vaguely in the corner, “but what I don’t really get is how”.
“How what?”.
“How you’re, you know”, gesturing with both hands, “good”.
Danny’s slightly confused for a beat before realising she wasn’t exactly convinced that ghosts weren’t all evil dangerous beings, frowning. “Because that’s just who I am as a person? Ghost and bad isn’t any more synonymous than human and bad is”, at least the blob wiggling into his stomach kinda kills the slight anger though.
FrostBite actually stepping forward, talking with his hands slightly, “most of the ghosts that do pester him aren’t exactly well-liked or thought highly of actually”, huffing to himself, “I’d like to see most of them tossed in a proper jail, personally”. Which Danny rolls his eyes at, but the blob bumping his left arm kinda aggressively and inquisitively makes him look down, frowning a little and craning his head to look at the kitchen clock. Crap. He needs to change. Not quite yet but soon. Looking back to everyone, “um, can I go? I-”, rubbing his neck, “will, ah, need to change soon here”.
His parents actually jerk, noticeably surprised and caught off guard. Both nodding readily, Jazz shooing him off. So Danny gets up and shuffles upstairs extremely aware of all the eyes on him, slightly squishing the blob to his chest. It’s official, he likes the little guy.
Him slumping to the floor, back against his bed and setting the blob down on the floor next to him. Sighing and running a hand through his white hair before eyeing the blob and smiling, “you got stuck for one Hell of a ghost, little guy”, making a face, “gosh I should really name you shouldn’t I”.
---
Jazz eyes the stairs a little longer, sighing to herself. This is an example of why she thinks it would be better if they all knew when his change time was. She would have done this sooner instead. But she’ll respect his wishes and won’t harp on him for this one. Looking back to her parents, “so how are you guys feeling?”.
They look at her a bit confused for a second. Before her mom looks up at the ceiling and back down, “alright, Jazz. Alright. But…”, looking to the ghost, who looks slightly unsure what to do, “what do you mean?”. Jack adding in, “do you ghosts actually like him???”. Jazz sending him a bit of a pained expression.
But FrostBite chuckles instead of being offended by the ‘you ghosts’ thing, “of course! He’s our saviour! And besides that the Great One has a truly remarkable character”, smirking, “and is quite an amusing little menace”.
Jazz quirks an eyebrow at that, “a menace?”, while her folks stare. FrostBite laughing heartily and grinning wide, “if you want to see a frostlings snow dive like never before, tell them the Great One’s practicing his ice”, and smirks, “he causes quite a bit of damage every time. Fleeing from ice lance misfires is a very interesting way to exercise your reaction time”.
Maddie holding up her hands, “wait wait, ‘Great One’? ‘Saviour’?”. FrostBite blinking disbelievingly at the woman, “well yes? He bested Pariah just as things were foretold. That makes him our saviour and the prophesied Great One”. Maddie just looks more confused.
Jack tilts his head, “it almost seems like you see him as a god?!?”. Which Jazz can’t help but giggle over a little, putting a hand in front of her mouth and nodding. Her dad looks like he’s impressed but also very confused; mostly impressed though. So that’s good.
Maddie forwning a little, “prophesied how? And how was beating Pariah ‘saving you’”. Jazz answers for the ghost, “there’s ice cave paintings of him”; they don’t look any less confused.
FrostBite nods, “indeed! And Pariah being free was a threat to the Infinite Realm at large. To all of our existences. Him being trapped again is nothing short of an act of salvation. The FarFrozen, my people, likely would have been wiped out by him. Since we’re a warrior clan and could have opposed him one day”.
Jack scratches his head, “still don’t get how he could be on cave paintings”, quirking an inquisitive eyebrow at the ghost, “but ghosts paint?”.
“Of course!”, shaking his head and eyeing them, “the Great One was not wrong when he said his makers didn’t understand ghosts or our culture very well”, frowning, “I would be more than willing to answer your questions, if that would help you accept him or treat him as well as he deserves to be”.
Maddie blinks, putting her chin on her fists, elbows on her knees. Eyeing the ghost, “you… care about him”. The giant yeti nodding readily.
---
Danny flinches, feeling heat spreading in his left arm. Opening and closing it with a sigh. Like always it felt like all the warm blood in his body was rushing into the limb all at once. And his heart starting up again, feeling like it was fighting his core making him wheeze slightly and bend in on himself from lungs that weren’t there yet trying to force him to actually properly breath.
The blob warbling and bumping into his side, him sending them a smile; not really able to talk at the moment. Feeling the sensation of tears opening in his throat from screaming too damn much before his rings finally pop out. Passing over him in a way that made all his bones ache for a few seconds, and leaving him wheezing on the floor. Him swallowing and moving to pat the blob weakly, them vibrating and pulsing energy at him… It did actually kind of feel good. Soothing. Him sighing into the carpeting, which was a little gross from general floor yuck, medical stuff, and probably blood and ectoplasm. Sighing again before pushing himself up with a small stagger. Grinning down at the blob, gesturing with his hands for them to come to him, and heading downstairs with them in his arms.
Coming down to FrostBite basically floating that, “the Draconics and Mythos kingdoms are also quite fond of him!”. Danny blushing and trying to ignore his parents staring at him as he sits back down; blob ghostie settling happily in his lap. FrostBite looking to him with a grin, “how are they treating you?”. Which just makes him blush more, “good. Think they like me already. Might be a little confused though”. FrostBite laughing, “well they should! I lined their nest with a few of your more.. well worn, shirts”.
“Oh Ancients”. He almost feels bad for the blob ghost now. HE wouldn’t want to sleep snuggled up with his smelly crusty abused clothing. Eugh.
His mom quirks an eyebrow, shifting and occasionally eyeing FrostBite, clearly still not really comfortable with him while talking to Danny, “why do you have a blob ghost?”. FrostBite answers for him though, eyeing Danny, “I decided he could use an emotional and physical support pet. A blob was the ideal candidate”. Danny blushes and rolls his eyes but nods at his parents. Jazz beaming at him, “good. You definitely could use that”.
“Jazz”.
“It’s true”. Jazz looking back to their parents, “so. Anything else”.
The parents exchange a look before bowing their heads to Danny, “we’re really sorry for hunting you and everything”. Both sitting back up, Jack smiling a little, “think we could be a family again? A real one?”. Maddie, eyeing FrostBite, “clearly we were really in the wrong”; and she makes a weird face when FrostBite grins wolfishly at her. “We don’t want to lose you”. Jack butting in, “whether you’re a ghost half the time or not”, grinning sheepishly, “and then game night can come back?”; making Maddie roll her eyes at him fondly but also sag a bit in relief.
Danny looking at both of them individually then down at the blob, smiling at them when they chirp. Holding them up and out at his parents, “pat the blob and we’re good”.
His dad chuckling and doing it with very little hesitation. His mom eyeing the boinging sound they make and all the wiggling before giving in and patting them tentatively.
FrostBite chuckles, looking to the Great One, glad things turned out well, “I should probably get back to my people, not that this, you reconciling with your makers, wasn’t worth the trip”. Danny rolls his eyes a little but nods, “have SunkenBlink mail me the rest of my portion of bellan briskets that I know she made me”. FrostBite actually grimaces at him, “you are more than welcome to it, I’ll see to it”; and phases down through the floor, making Danny’s parents jerk a little.
His dad quirking an eyebrow, “something you like but others find gross?”. Danny nodding with a bit of a smirk. His mom tapping her chin, “so… ghosts make food?”.
“Uh, yeah. Yeah they do”, shrugging, “it’s kinda hard to digest when I’m… you know, uh, human and all”.
His dad tilting his head, “but you still can?”. So Danny shrugs a little looser, “yup. I’ve always got my core so I’ve got what I need to process it, just takes a bit and my stomach won’t be super happy with me”. His mom frowning, “well then you really shouldn’t, Danny”.
“Mom I’m fine”.
Jazz grins to herself as Danny and their mom start lightly bickering about his diet and taking care of himself. Including if he needed ecto-energy. Which yes, yes he did. Just like with human food he simply needed less. Walking in on him downing a vial of ectoplasm was an… interesting way to find that out since he had been really embarrassed. But regardless, the blob has themselves perched on Danny’s shoulder, seemingly fiddling with his hair, and their parents weren’t harassing him about it.
Good. She’s gonna call this intervention a resounding success. New blob pet or not.
Though she’s not surprised that it takes well over a week for the blob -now named Rotundas of all things- to not be effectively attached at the hip to him. We’re they being protective? Wanting as much of their master as possible? Sensing that he was still stressed out and adjusting to his parents actually knowing? Hard to say, but she supported it either way.
End.
Prompts: instead of being able to switch forms willingly, Danny spends 12 hours in human form and 12 hours in ghost form. The switch from human to ghost occurs at the time of his death. and It's been a month since Maddie and Jack saw Danny transform, but they haven't had the nerve to talk about it yet. Danny's avoiding them as much as possible. Jazz is not having it and stages an intervention. and There's a reason why Danny's first choice is Far Frozen whenever he needs help or advice with something. He trusts them. Though sometimes, whenever he's stressed or just wants a break from Amity, hanging with the Yeti's is just the stressbreaker he needs. Besides, it's always fun to learn a little about their culture and a bit more about what it really means to be a ghost. (Basically a social visit to the Far Frozen) and Jazz meets Frostbite for the first time. and Ghost blobs can be used as emotional support ghosts! Danny, Vlad, or Dani gets one! and "I didnt know where else to go" with your choice of villain. and Frostbite worries about the Great One, so far away with so much responsibility on his young shoulders. He should do something

Tommy’s getting tired of people thinking he’s not real. Tubbo, meanwhile, hopes that this hallucination of his best friend will stay a while longer.
They work it out.
(word count: 1,563)
............................
It only takes about another fifteen minutes for him to snap.
“What the fuck are you doing that for?” he demands, planting his feet and wheeling around and staring Tubbo dead in the face, because Tubbo’s been trailing along behind him like a fucking lost puppy or some shit since he got out, and he’s tired of it, tired of his best friend looking at him like that, with equal amounts of wonder and dread in his eyes, like he’s not fucking real at all.
Or should that be former best friend? He doesn’t fucking know. Apparently, it didn’t take all that long for Tubbo to replace him with Ranboo of all people. And get married. Apparently.
Tubbo blinks at him.
“I don’t think you’re real,” he says, and if Tommy’s anger hadn’t been boiling over before, it is now. He didn’t go to hell and back for people to tell him he’s not real. He didn’t stay in the same cell as Dream for a month for people to tell him he’s not real. He is so, so very real. The shock that shoots through his system, the bolt of all-consuming terror that overtakes his mind whenever anyone so much as bumps into him is proof enough of that. He is real, and who the fuck is anyone else to say that he’s not?
“Well guess what,” he says, “I fucking am, so deal with it or go away.”
He spent so long wishing to be by Tubbo’s side again. He didn’t think he’d get out to find this. Didn’t think he’d come out to be replaced. Didn’t think Tubbo would crouch along after him without saying anything at all, like he’s the one who died.
“You don’t need to be angry about it,” Tubbo replies, as if he’s the one being wronged here. “I’ve got it all figured out. See, I didn’t think you were dead at first, either. Sam told us and my brain went all weird and flat and in denial, because I knew it couldn’t be true, because you couldn’t be dead. But then it was a few days later and you still hadn’t come out, and it was true after all. So I can’t trust my brain, really, so this is probably my brain going into denial again. Wishful thinking.”
“You—” He cuts himself off, rage warring with confusion warring with he-doesn’t-fucking-know-what, because he’s been dead and locked in prison and he’s not even used to the sunlight yet, much less his own emotions. “I literally pinched you. I pinched you, and then you ran away and stood staring at me from that new—that new McDonald’s!”
“Tactile hallucinations aren’t impossible,” Tubbo informs him. “It’s probably because I’ve been thinking about you a lot.”
That draws him up short, just a little bit. “You have?” he asks. “I thought you got married.”
“I did,” Tubbo agrees. “It was a spur-of-the-moment sort of thing, really, so nobody got invited, but I was thinking about maybe having a bigger ceremony once you got out so you could be my best man, or something. I don’t really know how that works. ‘Cause it’s a platonic marriage, right, so I don’t know if you’re supposed to do it differently. But I wanted you to be there, and then it turned out that you wouldn’t ever, ever be.”
Well. Alright, so he wasn’t disregarded entirely, then. But still—
“And then,” Tubbo continues, “and then we adopted Michael, and I wanted you to be his godfather. You were supposed to be his godfather. Michael was going to love you. I thought you were gonna come back out and you were gonna meet Michael and everything was going to be alright. But then you didn’t.”
“Who the fuck is Michael,” he says flatly, even though his head is reeling because adopted—?
“He’s our son!” Tubbo says. “Mine and Ranboo’s! And you were gonna be the godfather. And it was going to be great, and we were gonna be a family, but then you died, and now Michael’s not even going to get to meet you. And you’re just, you’re just dead and I’m following you around because I don’t have anything better to do.”
There is—there is so much to unpack there, he doesn’t even know where to begin. Ranboo is—is the spouse, then, and he supposes he should have guessed that. The Michael issue isn’t too much clearer, since he doesn’t have a frame of reference for this—for this child? That Tubbo has adopted? What the hell? But it’s the last sentence that sends the anger flooding back, because what the fuck does he mean, he doesn’t have anything better to do?
“If that’s how you feel, then why don’t you—” he starts, but Tubbo cuts him off.
“I’m sort of pathetic, I guess,” he says. “‘Cause I’m following around a hallucination. I guess it’s because I know it’s the best I’m ever going to get. And you know, I’d rather have a you that’s not real than not have you at all, because this way, I get to see you and hear you. Even if you’re not here. So I need to enjoy it while I can, because I don’t know how long hallucinations last for, so I don’t know when you’ll go away again. And I don’t want you to go away. I don’t want you to be dead.”
All through this speech, Tubbo’s face remains distant, a little open, a little blank. But his eyes are welling up with tears, and as Tommy watches, they start spilling over his cheeks, uncommented upon.
And Tommy feels the rage drain out of him.
It was hell, where he was, in that terrible darkness, that void, being torn apart and shoved back together again. It was hell, coming back, everything too bright and too loud and too much, his body flinching and his heart racing at any movement, and a single touch is still enough to send him back there, to that moment, his vision fading and pain bursting like fireworks and Dream’s mask leaning over him, grinning.
It’s been hell, seeing how everything’s changed.
But Tubbo missed him. Really, really missed him. And maybe he’s replaced him a bit, and Tommy no longer has any idea how to feel about that, because it seems like Tubbo wasn’t trying to? That Tubbo still wanted him to be there, still intended him to be there? So he’s still a little pissed, maybe, and he still really, really wants people to stop being so weird, to stop reminding him at every juncture that he died, died and came back, but—
But Tubbo is crying.
“Tubbo,” he says, “I’m not a hallucination.”
“You are, though,” Tubbo says. “My mind’s playing tricks. You’re not—you’re not really—” He hiccups, and Tommy comes to a decision.
He extends a hand. It should be fine. It’s just Tubbo, and he’s choosing to do this. It should be fine. It’s going to be fine.
“C’mon, then,” he says. “Hold my hand, I’ll prove it. Maybe you could make up a pinch in your brain, but I bet you couldn’t make up this.”
Tubbo stares at his hand for a very, very long time.
“Don’t make this weird,” he says. “Tubbo, please, for the love of god, don’t make this weird. I really will go away, and you can just stay here and cry.”
Tubbo blinks, hard. And then, slowly, reaches out and takes his hand.
Tommy flinches, every nerve in his body lighting up, screaming at him to get away, and he can’t stop himself from gasping, from letting out a little whimper. But in the next moment, he’s fine, his heart rate already calming, and it’s just Tubbo’s hand in his, his grip loose and warm.
Tubbo’s eyebrows furrow. A minute passes before he speaks.
“This is a long time for a tactile hallucination to last,” he says.
Tommy rolls his eyes as hard as he possibly can, in order to express all of his exasperation.
“I’m not a fucking hallucination, alright?” he says. “Has married life made you an idiot or something?”
Tubbo looks up at him, then. He looks back, and tries to convey with his eyeballs his sheer displeasure at literally all of this.
“I’m holding your hand,” Tubbo says slowly. “You’re not disappearing, and I’m holding your hand.”
He tries to convey with his eyeballs that Tubbo should consider arriving at the point sometime soon.
“Oh my god,” Tubbo says. “You’re real. Tommy, you’re real.”
“Damn fucking right I’m real,” he says. And something like relief washes over him. It’s nice to hear those words, from someone else. And Tubbo just stands there and holds his hand and keeps crying, harder, if that’s even possible, and Tommy thinks that this is a scene that he should possibly put a stop to.
But he doesn’t. He stands there and holds Tubbo’s hand and lets Tubbo cry. Because nothing is alright. Nothing at all is alright. Everything sucks and everything’s different and he needs to kill Dream and the world kept on turning without him. But Tubbo is glad to have him back. Tubbo missed him. Tubbo still wants him.
If his eyes are wet, it’s just the rain. He glances up, and blinks against the sun.
Just the rain.
