More serious take of miraculous.

It's aimed more towards older audiences so there will be cursing.

Adrien is still nice but he has his moments of being rude and he's tired of giving people the benefit of the doubt cuz it's always failed him. He's far more cynical and distrusting cuz Ladybug was his last piller and finding out she lied to him so drastically has tainted his opinion on trusting people.

Plagg and Tikki are far less..goofy, and more godlike vibes. Plagg and Tikki are technically married cuz they're a union but they're against each other cuz Tikki believes Marinettes doing what's best and Plagg doesn't so they're at odds.

The team is split. The ones on Ladybugs side: Tiger, Pig, Horse, Monkey, Rooster, Bull, Mouse. The ones on Chats side: Peacock, Dog, Turtle, Bee, Dragon, Snake, Fox

The Dragon, Fox and Snake and technically aren't on either side but they follow their holder but would prefer none of them fight. Trixx personally sides with Plagg but wants Alya to make her own choice so he isn't exactly on either side. The Peacock just wants Nooroo back and is so tired and done with being used for evil.

Lila is just evil and wants to split up all the heros even more and wants to get Chat on her side cuz she just hates Ladybug and wants both their miraculous so she's just fighting both sides and making countless villains and since their split up, it's easier to fight one cuz they aren't a union anymore.

Chloe semi makes ammends eith Audrey cuz they talk and Chloe lashes out at her and Andre for their hand in raising her and not taking responsibility for that and Audrey takes Zoe from Andre cuz..Zoe isn't his kid so he can't just take custody of her 😶 and Chloe and Zoe mend their relationship slowly and Chloe gets the bee back cuz. I refuse to let Zoe keep it cuz the suit is ugly--

Alya and Nino remain a couple and they talk through everything.

Adrien and Felix have a strained relationship but Felix is trying to help him in his..insane way.

It's not exactly Marinette salt but..she isn't regarded highly by some kwami. (Plagg specifically.)

Fanfic Idea

Ugh! I had this idea to write a fic about what-if Marinette was evil instead of Gabriel! But now with the whole Shadybug and Claw Noir special coming, I feel I have to wait, so things like 'Good Gabriel's good guy name' and what he calls who makes heroes (currently I'm calling them champion but I don't know anything) are more accurate to the show!

Plot

Essentially, it would've been in this universe, so no Shadybug. Instead, her name would've been Miss Fortune (I've been in this fandom since the beginning, I've always wanted that name to be canon). She takes the image of a shy sweet girl Marinette Dupain-Cheng but when things don't go her way, she becomes Miss Fortune.

Luckily, Paris has a hero in its corner, the amazing Chat Noir who battles the evil Miss Fortune. However, he also has an ally in the form of Papillon, a mysterious benefactor who helps him by sending him champions.

Characters

Adrien will still be our innocent sunshine child, but he has a whole lot more on his shoulders, trying to stop Miss Fortune from wrecking havoc and eventually becoming Guardian.

As Chat Noir, he and the champion have to work together to fight Miss Fortune. I have this system where Miss Fortune has a anti-charm (like Anti-bug) and if the two destroy it, the world healing begins.

Alya is still how she is in the show. Except she despises Miss Fortune. Her blog is towards Chat instead and she insults Miss Fortune anyway she can. She wants to rid the world of Miss Fortune, unaware she's her best friend.

Chloe would be a much better person (she still has some of her original flaws, so she would be not be like Zoe), liking Adrien like a brother and treating Sabrina like a real friend. Of course, Marinette doesn't see their relationship as platonic so she targets her. This version of Anti-Bug would've have Papillon give Chloe the power of the original Ladybug miraculous until Chat decides to give her the bee miraculous to use.

Lila would've been a person who always told the truth and while not all of her stories from canon were true, she does have some real amazing tales. This attracts Adrien to her (again platonically) much to Marinette's chagrin. One story is that Miss Fortune stole her bag once and Chat Noir got it back for her. Marinette thinks Lila is lying and Chat doesn't remember Lila specifically but he does remember giving someone back their bag.

So she briefly becomes Miss Fortune to embarrass her but this just inspires her to become Volpina and her and Chat briefly work together to take her down.

Gabriel is a much better father here! He's still busy and Emilie is still dead. But he's allowed Adrien to go to school and have a less stricter lifestyle. He still misses his wife but goes on a more healthier path instead and tries to move on while helping Chat Noir as Papillon.

Zoe would've been a person who acted nice when in reality, she's a massive witch. She still has feelings for Marinette but Marinette takes advantage of these feeling instead. She assist Miss Fortune also, not liking when things don't go her way. Half of Chloe becoming akumatized episodes would be Chloe either needing the bee miraculous or her helping Chat as a champion. Zoe would play dumb when confronted but some people start seeing the truth through her and Marinette's lies.

Shipping

So Marinette likes Adrien to disturbing degrees. Finding her strange since kindergarten, Adrien at best can be civil towards her. In the Animan episode of this AU, he would've weirded out by Nino's crush on her but would've still helped him, because he's a good friend and he feels he would be a good influence of her.

He and Miss Fortune jokingly flirt with each other sometimes, but they really hate each other with a fiery passion.

Adrien is bisexual in this fic. Who is Adrien's partner? Luka. Instead of liking Marinette, he takes a shining to Adrien instead. Adrien is smitten as both himself and Chat Noir. Luka would be a frequent character in season 1. Often times, Chloe and Juleka (and sometimes Nino) would try pairing them together frequently.

Marinette used to have a crush to Luka and he used to give her a chance but with all the lying and her accidently making it clear she likes Adrien, he also can now only be civil to her.

Chloe is also bisexual. Nathaniel initially has feelings for her instead of Marinette in 'Evilluastor'. Season 1 would plenty of cute moments. Not sure I should write whether they broke up but are on good terms or have them be in a poly relationship with Marc and Kagami.

Down the line, Chloe gains feelings for Kagami. Marinette in this AU, never lets go of her mean feelings for Kagami and instead Kagami enters the scavenger hunt in 'Ikati Gozen' with Chloe, causing the two to bond. Kagami never has feelings for Adrien (but I'll say it again, Marinette doesn't see it that way).

Also. In all seriousness. Guilt Trip also isn't done very well in terms of dealing with a character having a disability, with it being like "yeah, she doesn't NEED all this help even though she has a disability cause disabled people aren't fragile and helpless" which is a good message but it's not done well. And it also just makes Marinette look like more of an ass in retrospect because she was only willing to accommodate rose cause they're ~friends~ and rose is good so she can't be lying about her disability! Unlike that super liar Lila who is definitely lying >:( because she's evil >:( (and yes she was lying and the only reason why is so Marinette can have an excuse for her horrible behavior)

Also juleka tells rose's secret without her consent to the entire class (not cool) and rose is also a common archetype of a character who "has a disability but that won't stop me from living life to the fullest!" Except it's only brought up in this episode and never acknowledged again because MLB doesn't know how to write characters with disabilities.

Oh and also they do that stupid thing where they only really focus on how sad their poor loved one must be, having to worry about them all the time :( /s which is a very common and quite ignorant thing that always happens when writing disabled characters.

It's not a good episode. Like. At all. The only thing it does is make Marinette look like the worst type of ableist person and prove that the writers should not be allowed to touch this topic ever again.

I'll be honest I don't think it's marinette or juleka's fault that they do such fucked up things because it's obvious that the writers are trying to frame their actions in the right and act like what they're doing isn't fucked up.

The problem is the writing not the characters themselves. Their personalities get pushed and pulled in the direction that the plot needs to move forward. I know I sound like I think Marinette sucks but it's not her it's her writing. Does that make sense

Edit: Juleka actually only told Marinette and Adrien about rose, so she didn't tell the whole class, it was Marinette who had notified everyone of rose's condition, contrary to what i remembered. Apologies on my part

What the fuck was umbrella academy s4???? Erm this was actually shit, like... Omg... SHIT.

I mean okay season 3 had its issues, but at least it had evil sexy Ben.

They gave Klaus that batshit-crazy, fuckass plot line that made ZERO sense and had NO plot relevance, and for WHAT ??

Don't get me started on what they did to my man Diego and my bad bitch Lila. Why did they have to fuck them up so much? Seriously? Lila and Five? Like were they so fucking low on ideas?

Also, the writing was just straight up shit. Oh yeah Five can only blip into the subway now, except this one time that we really need him to blip into the building, and he will do it with the power of love. Are they for real? Are they this lazy? The powers were anything the writers wanted this season, KLAUS FUCKING FLIES ONE TIME in the last episode bc plot and ahhhhh we don't know how to move him there any other way. And why did they change Allison's rumor shit??

So much shit that just made no sense and the whole thing was just so boring. Maybe the ending with the siblings dying would be satisfying if...idk they made it satisfying? Maybe if the season had a coherent plot and it made sense for them to sacrifice themselves, okay yes. But, no. This was just sad to watch smh.

Okay here we go!

Things I would have changed/am confused about in tua season 4

- first of all, it needed 10 episodes. Not 6. Don't even need to change the storylines- just flesh it out. Add random filler stuff. Not one of the characters got a real character arc because they didn't have enough screen time to show it!!

- speaking of, Jean and Gene got way too much screen time. Like I don't care about them I want to see the actual main characters

- no mention of Sloane????? Nothing???? What about the other sparrows? Do they exist in this timeline?

- how were they still riding in that van after puking so much in it lol 😭

- wtf is up with the only mention of Ray being a throwaway line that he walked out on Allison??? Seriously wtf??

- also, if Lila's parents are alive and living with her & Diego... Uhhh... are they not gonna address the fact that Five killed her parents in the last timeline? Like with all the scenes they had together I felt like that should have come up... I guess maybe that was something they already got past sometime in the 6 years?

- I'm so confused about Abigail. I'm just so confused. What is up with her

- STILL NO EXPLANATION FOR THE WHOLE ALIEN THING??

- also five's weird arc in s3 where he gets the tattoo? I'm still so confused about that. What was the purpose of the tattoo? Why was that whole thing a thing? I'm just lost 😭 and the "restaurant at the end of the world" scene in s4 was not exactly helpful or forthcoming either

- not a fan of how Ben's original death was just Reginald shooting him. Also the whole "reverse element of the marigold" thing seemed like a random idea turned plot device that just could have been planned/set up better. I also didn't understand the whole Jennifer thing. Why did she have the element thing in her anyway? Why was she in that container? I need explanations please

- IS REGINALD EVIL OR NOT HELP HE KEEPS GOING BACK AND FORTH

- Just so many things that could have been fleshed out

- where did the notebook five found that was "in his own handwriting" even come from? What version of himself figured out the subway system and wrote the cipher?? So many questions

- speaking of, what IS the subway system. Where did it come from. Why- just- why. I'm so confused about how it even affects the plot at all (except for the very end with the kids & family members)

- five and lila were supposedly lost in time for 6 years but they didn't change at all?? I get that actors are not going to be able to visibly age 6 years in a week but really, they couldn't have tried to make it look more believable? Changed their hair, added makeup and stuff? And then when they got back and they looked exactly the same as when they'd left and certainly didn't act like they'd spent 6 years lost in time? Like you'd think something like that would be extremely noticeable lol... I was expecting the others to be like oh my god what happened to you? And then it was just on we go business as usual. Like they could have done a lot more to make that feel realistic/believable I think

- oh, the ending... I get it, but I also think they should have gotten the lives they have "in most timelines" in the commission handbook thing, iykyk (basically if they'd all just grown up normally without the umbrella academy or anything)

- but... If Lila's family and Claire were taken to a restored timeline where the 43 children & umbrella academy never existed, wouldn't that create the same paradox that was the EXACT SAME THING that was the whole premise of season 3?? Remember the kugelblitz??? By YOUR OWN universe rules, sending those people to the restored timeline where they never existed created a kugelblitz that destroyed the real timeline and the universe for good. Congratulations.

- I was also hoping for an explanation of why their powers were slightly different but I guess it's just a plot device that doesn't really matter

- all in all, honestly, I really liked it! And I'm sad that pretty much the majority of the fandom doesn't. It could have been a lot better just by fleshing it out and giving the characters enough screentime for actual character arcs but. You know what. It's good enough for me. I'm satisfied

Idea: everyone in the vigilantes know Ladybug and Chat Noir’s secret identity because their evil selves accidentally detransformed in front of the others and they all promised to not tell it to anyone (except Lila who wasn’t there and so is the only one in the dark ironically).

Hilarity ensues when people start treating Marinette and Adrien differently, making them confused and worried.

That would be awesome! I actually really like the idea that more people know who's behind the mask of a superhero just to help the hero more. And the idea of Lila being the only one out of the loop and confused about what's happening is hilarious.

You are basically creating a Marinette and Adrien protection squad with this idea and the line-up is crazy, especially since you gave some of them powers XD

Except bad people, she really hated bad people and her adopted father, who basically forced her to do evil things and run errands for him but since he’s dead.. Fiona felt relieved and a bit of guilt flowing in her body due to her and adopted father’s relationship with each other but she chose to ignore it, putting out her cigarette and heading back inside to see Grace running towards her with her arms out, hugging Fiona’s waist, making her a bit shook but she looks down at Grace and saids “hey sweetheart, how is my favorite niece doing?” Grace looks up at Fiona and saids “I’m good Auntie Flame! Have you talked with Uncle Five yet?” Grace asks while Fiona blushed a bit by Grace mentioning Five towards her, it’s been a while since those two have talked really- Fiona heard that Five is taking a break to himself but she shrugged and said “I have not sadly. Been busy with my singing and doing alot of painting- so I haven’t really talked with anyone in a while.” Grace pouted a bit and asked “why Auntie?” Fiona sighed softly and said “ever since everything has gone back for normal, I been going to therapy to talk about the past and who I really am inside. Except I still have my powers because I want to have them forever, I don’t want them to go away. I enjoy having them. Been taking time for myself to focus on my mental health and yeah.” Fiona smiled softly at Grace while Grace understood Fiona and smiled back at her.

“Now your Auntie Flame is gonna have fun, okay?” Fiona said, going down on one knee and kissed Grace on the forehead, making Grace giggle and said “ok but make sure you join me in the ball pit later, ok?” Grace asks her while Fiona laughed a bit and saids “alright alright, I promise I will but right now.. let me go have fun. Bye bubbles.” Grace giggles, waving at Fiona and going to have fun. Leaving a smiling Fiona on one knee and slowly getting up, standing on her feet.

Fiona began to walk around the place, seeing parents having fun with there children and slowly not smiling anymore since she never found her real parents but she decided not to give two fucks about it.

She noticed the bubbles, making her smile and popping one. While she popped one bubble, she felt someone watching her from afar and she noticed that a smiling Five was watching her while holding beer in his hand, making Fiona walk slowly towards him while smiling a bit and said “Five Hargreeves, my long time frenemy and the man who killed the fish head aka my adopted father. How are you old man?” Five deep chuckled a bit and said “Fiona aka the demon gal who hated me cus I killed her horrible adopted father and had to do it for my family. I’m doing well Flame, how about you?” Five said with a bit of a sarcastic tone in his voice and taking a few sips of his beer.

“Well, I been doing great. You mind giving me beer?” Fiona said with a bit of a soft tone in her voice, Five hummed a bit, giving her a beer bottle as well.

“Thanks Romeo, appreciate it.” Fiona said while smiling softly, opening the beer bottle, taking a few sips of it and just smiling softly at the children running around the place while Five smiled softly, just staring at her and asked “you thinking about something?” Fiona sighed a bit, looking at Five and answered this “yeah, just watching the children run around the place like they own it- reminds me of myself as a child. Good times good times really.” Five hummed softly at her answer and decided to hold out his hand, he asked “you uh wanna hold my hand love?” Fiona nodded yes and began to hold his hand while taking that hand back and deciding to grab on his tie with a bit of a smirk and asked “so you uh got any plans pretty boy? I’m loving the new look of the new you. Suits your pretty self.” Five smiled a bit, looking down at Flame and said “no, I don’t have any plans really.. didn’t expect you to be confident. Why’s that?” Fiona let go of his tie, answered with “I been using my charm- I call it the demon flirt charm. It’s uh something but eh. I don’t really like to be confident in myself.”

Five sighed softly, wrapping an arm around Flame’s shoulders and said “Listen to me sweetheart, you always feel confident in yourself. Be proud of that, be proud in your heart that you can still do the things that you love. You still kick ass Flame, still do and you can’t forgot that on how many times you managed to beat me at arm wrestling.. and sometimes Smash Bros when we were back in season two.” Flame started to laugh softly, feeling happy and said “yeah, those were good times- I mostly blame my author sometimes for stupid shit.” Five chuckled a bit at the last part on what Flame said. Suddenly Klaus, alongside his boyfriend Dave started to walk towards Five and Fiona.. Klaus said “Fiona! Five!” Fiona started to run towards Klaus, giving him a hug while smiling softly, still holding her beer while looking up at him and said “Klaus! I missed you buddy. How are ya? Also who’s the boy next to you?” Klaus chuckled softly, messing with Fiona’s hair a little bit and said “Fiona, homie- this is my boyfriend Dave. Dave, this is my homie Fiona.” Fiona waved softly at Dave while Dave waved back at her and said “It’s nice to meet you Fiona, heard so much stuff about you. Coming from Klaus ofc.” Fiona laughed a bit and started to stand next to Five while smiling softly.

Five started to ask “So, how long have you been sober Klaus?” Klaus responded with “Oh, uh, coming up on three years on January 15th, but who’s counting right?” Five said “that’s amazing” while Fiona gave Klaus a thumbs up, she was proud of her bestie becoming sober for three years and Fiona said “Really, good for you buddy. Proud of ya.” Klaus smiled softly at the two and said “thanks guys, really appreciate it.” Dave started to have an arm around Klaus while feeling proud of his boyfriend while Klaus, Five and Fiona did a toast with there beer bottles.

Feeling proud of themselfs for surviving.

Flame started to check her watch, sighing softly and said “I was supposed to join Grace at the ball pit- fuck. Gonna need somebody to go with me.” Five decided to go with her while the two waved goodbye at Klaus and Dave.

While the two were walking, Five said “I don’t really have a choice on joining, do I?” Flame said “nope, you don’t. You’re her uncle ofc.” As soon as they got to the ball pit, Five pushed Flame into it, laughing a bit at Flame while Flame got a little annoyed at him but soon she saw Grace, Grace was giggling and laughing at the duo while Flame rolled her eyes playfully. Soon enough, Five got in as well- he didn’t like it but eh. You win some, you lose some.

Changes in Plot / Lore in my mlb dr:

The Peacock Miraculous has the ability to manipulate emotions with the feathers kinda borderline mindcontrol ig? since youre able to control peoples decisions based on emotions they feel? (cos the whole sentimonster thing doesnt make sense if its the miraculous of emotion imo)

Ladybug can create Sentimonsters but not destroy them

Chat Noir can destroy Sentimonsters but not create them (the whole sentimonster thing is part of their adult powers tho)

Anyone can control a Sentimonster as long as Ladybug binds the Sentimonsters life energy to an object of her choosing and said person possesses the object (but like she doesn’t have to do it I guess? Idk yet ill figure it out when I get there haha)

Everything after Season 2 doesn’t happen except for the episodes I include here (e.g. Chat Blanc) cos i dont like most stuff after season 2

The side miraculouses aren’t used on their own, just for unification purposes due to the big risks involved (i dont want everyone and their mother having a miraculous sue me)

Exception is the Bunny Miraculous (cos of the chat blanc thing)

Theres only 1 Miraculous box, the whole Chinese temple thing doesn’t happen (same as 2 points above haha)

No miraculous holders are permanent except Ladybug and Chat Noir (again, same as 3 points above)

Master Fu keeps the role of Guardian until Ladybug and Chat Noir reach adulthood (and know each other’s identity)

No one except Ladybug and Chat Noir find out who the others identity is

Lila and Felix are not evil masterminds and regular teens who can manipulate other teens at most but not adults (and lets be real google is free tf you mean lila is able to lie to adults about really ridiculous things that don’t even make sense)

Marinette ends up with Luka and while she does have the crush on Adrien (including the stalkerish tendencies) it mellows down at the end of season one up until the middle of season two

So that’s that, then, you think, as you stand around the corner from the restaurant waiting for your Uber. You had walked that morning, like you said, but you weren’t about to hike half an hour back home with all this food. And you didn’t feel like sitting inside waiting with Grant.

That’s stupid, you know, you try to reason with yourself. He clearly wants to be friends, and you can wait for a car with a friend. Except . . . trying to continue a conversation seemed too hard right now. Because you’re stuuuupiiiidddd, your traitorous brain sing-songs. Shouldn’t have thought of it like a date in the first place, and now you’re disappointed and you’re gonna spend the rest of the day sadfaced when you should have known he wasn’t into you.

Yeah, well . . . yeah. You should have. It’d been a while since a guy you were interested in was interested back, or interested in the way you wanted. Plenty would try it at a bar, thinking they’d get an easy night with a woman they’d never have to call again, but you’d learned to spot that type a long time ago. Grant just seemed different, but maybe that’s because he really only wants to talk about art and old slang.

And anyway, you did have fun until your brain sabotaged you. You could definitely be friends with him. Just friends. Like Kate and Lila at the historical society. He’s basically Lila, but shorter and blond. And hot, your idiot brain chirps.

Bucky smacks him on the back of the head, not pulling his punch, and Steve nearly faceplants into the coffee table. They’re back at the compound; Natasha had made Bucky ride back with him in case Steve got the urge to drive into the river to escape the exact conversation they were obviously about to have.

He had considered it.

“She is, and it oughta be,” Bucky says, ducking the half-hearted retaliatory punch Steve throws at him. “She seems like your type: funny, way too smart for you – oof” he doesn’t quite dodge Steve’s kick to his ankle. “Looked like she could fill out a dress, too. Stevie always did like ‘em built for comfort,” he confides to Natasha.

“I’m going to kick you in a minute,” she threatens, flopping onto a lounge chair.

“I don’t like – it’s not – look, you – “ Steve takes a deep breath and gathers the tattered remnants of his dignity. “This conversation is over.”

“You gonna fix your problem?” Natasha calls after him.

“Fix what? It went fine.”

“Sure, pal.” Bucky glances at the chair Natasha’s in and decides against trying to squeeze into it with her. This conversation needs intervention-level formality. He flops onto the longest sofa instead. “It was going great ‘til you assured her you weren’t interested in her.”

Steve gapes. “I did not say that.”

“Betcha a shiny nickel that’s what she heard. Didn’t you learn anything watching me?”

“I watched you take two dames to a petting party, Buck; not sure that’s gonna work here.”[1]

“Different times,” Bucky assures Natasha, who’s grinning like she’s just had a brilliant idea. “Anyway, you went to one, too. I remember timing how long you spent on your hair.” Steve splutters indignantly even though it’s absolutely true, and Bucky’s voice turns nostalgic. “Got to first base, too, didn’t you?”

“I never made it to bat,” Steve grumbles. He had, technically; one of the girls there called him adorable and kissed his cheek, and then she went back to her real date as he clutched a pillow in his lap for the next hour. A swing and a miss.

“Well, you got out of the dugout for once. It was good for you.”

Or would that count as a foul? Steve shakes himself back to the present and glares. “Anyway, it can’t be like that. Not now. Once I get fixed up it’ll be different.”

“Oh, sure.” Natasha’s voice has that flat, mocking tone. “You’re gonna show up at her doorstep a foot taller and a foot wider and tell her that her arty little crush was really Captain America the whole time? A) she’s going to scream. 2) she’s going to think you’re a liar. And Veh) she’s going to feel like you were deliberately messing with her.”

Steve stares at her. “Sometimes you make my head hurt. And she doesn’t have a crush on me. And we’re both too old for crushes, anyway.”

“You’re never too old for crushes, Steve.”

“So, wait – important question,” Bucky interjects. “You definitely didn’t tell her who you are, so what did you say?”

“Grant Stevens, graphic designer,” Steve answers promptly. He’d had it planned. That . . . that’s a bad sign, isn’t it?

Natasha’s looking at him like she knows exactly what he’s thinking, which she probably does. “So will you keep seeing Ms. Built for Comfort, or are you gonna lay low for the foreseeable future and then spring Captain Sixty-Inch Biceps on her?”

“That’s not her name, Romanoff,” Steve growls. “It’s –“

“I know her name, Rogers. I ran a search on her while you were canoodling over the old ladies two weeks ago. Facial recognition,” she says when he splutters in outrage. “She’s mostly clean, likes puppies and filthy jokes. Knows all the words to ‘Luscious Lena from Messina’ – at least she’d get some of your ancient jokes.”

Steve is outraged into silence, glaring, and she sighs. “Okay, let’s go kick Bruce until he finds a cure for whatever this is.”

Pep talk aside, you stay away from the museum for nearly a week. But you’re not hiding! You’re working – the opus is quickly becoming medium. You really should devote your time to grinding it out, alone with your work in the pretty blue house on Mansion Street that came with the fellowship. You should do what you actually came to do. If you need a distraction, go for drinks with Kate and Lila and the other history nerds. The museum isn’t necessary to your well-being. You don’t need anything that it offers.

You weren’t so proud you couldn’t admit to spending a day or so – as expected – being a sadfaced mess. By the morning of the second day, you’d gone to the historical society just to get away from yourself and be around people who weren’t handsome blonds with slender fingers and awkward smiles and serious blue eyes and the worst old-fashioned jokes. Just the worst. Ugh. You don’t even like his jokes.

“You dooo,” David Tennant’s voice sang in your head.

You do.

The historical society is gearing up for a fundraiser, and you offer to help out in some vague and non-social capacity. That’ll show Grant. Show you. Show your foolish heart that fell too fast, for a man who was just a normal level of nice to you and would never fathom that you’d spent such an indecent amount of time wondering how it would feel to run your fingers through his hair, to have him take your face in his hands, to feel his breath . . .

So you’re going to stick to a strict work-and-volunteer schedule with only occasional museum breaks and if you see Grant, you see him and if not, you’ll forget about him. You’re forgetting him already. You can hardly remember his eyes.

And when finally you do go to the museum (because you aren’t hiding), your feet carry you past the room with Joan and the witches and Cormar, taking you to a room with Hudson Valley landscapes. You aren’t avoiding Grant; he could spot you easily if he passed by, you’re just . . . letting it be his choice.

And these landscapes are not cutting it. You snarl at them and flounce out of the room, bouncing chest-first right into someone not much taller than you, whose delicate hands come up to grip your shoulders.

“Excuse me, I – hey!” Grant smiles, looking almost shy. “Hey, I’ve missed you the last few days.” You can’t help but smile back, feeling heat creep up your face. For a second, you gaze at each other all doe-eyed, or limpid-eyed, or however Georgette Heyer would describe it, then Grant clears his throat and steps back and you feel a hot wave of embarrassment wash over you.

Well, if you’re gonna almost knock the guy down, might as well do it with your boobs.

“Yeah, I’ve been really busy. But I’ve missed” you you you “relaxing with the art.”

“You look as relaxed as a tire iron,” he says. “I mean – I mean –“ he stammers as you glare up at him. “I mean, you look great but you felt really – wait, no – I didn’t feel anyth –“ he stops, sighs, and hangs his head.

You could kiss him.

Grant peeks at you from under his eyelashes and brushes his hair out of his face. “I’m glad you’re here,” he says simply.

Oh, fuck you and your stupid face, you think, and say “I’m glad you’re here, too.”

He smiles.

You smile.

He smiles. Then he shakes himself, like he just remembered something. “I wanted to ask . . . you know, since you like old movies . . .” he trails off, and you nod, encouraging. “There’s a great movie house that’s doing a Cary Grant thing for the next few weeks – they’re showing North by Northwest on Saturday, then Notorious next weekend, you know, a different film each week for the rest of the summer.”

Wait. So . . . wait, is he? Is this . . .?

“Oh, so you’re going with friends?” you ask, not certain how you want him to answer.

“Well, I . . . neither of us have seen the Hitchcock years, so I thought. If you want.”

“Yes,” you say, but not too quickly. “Which theater? I’ll get the tickets.” You wave him off when he starts to protest. “I made like 5 meals from that one lunch; I can get this.” And this way he knows you know it’s not a date. There will be nothing date-like about going to the movies with Grant, sitting there in the dark, hands brushing over popcorn . . . there will be no popcorn, you tell yourself severely.

He tells you, then pulls out his phone. “What’s your number?” he asks offhandedly. “I can pick you up, or –“

“Or we can meet there,” you assure him, tamping down the giddiness at finally getting his number. It is for logistical purposes only.

He smiles.

You smile.

Bethany's Bizarre Miraculous Reviews: The Paris Parallel Universe Special

Big news! Parallel Universe time! Except it's mostly just visitors from another universe! Just the multiverse plot I like! In the episode 2 timeskip, I'm guessing!

Also I thought about it and decided in my rewrite AU Marinette instead falls into an alternate timeline that's my attempt at giving reason to salt fics combined with a dream I once had. The current issue I'm having is figuring out how Lila can coerce and befriend both the class members that worship Hawkmoth and Alya, who still is a massive Ladybug fan and therefore would be against said Hawkmoth worshipers. It's a dark timeline, to say the least.

I don't think being a fashion designer is a normal life, honestly.

Holy fuck, this really is an alternate timeline! Gabriel Agreste's the one doing the singing!

So why is it Kamiko instead of Akuma? I always felt like it would be Tenshi for the angel/demon parallels, not to mention how Tenshi meaning "heaven messenger" works well with them being empowered and in a way controlled by the butterfly wielder. What does Kamiko mean, anyways? I know Akuma just means "evil demon," considering their only purpose is to wreak havoc and get the Miraculouses,

Alright, so how does "Tikki living in all parallel universes at once" work, anyways? Is each Tikki a small component in a grand semi-autonomous hivemind that all relay back to the Master Tikki? Does Tikki ever get messed up at what part of the universe she's talking to? Is she aware and feeling the misery of her Shadyverse counterpart I know will appear?

Claw Noir is corny as hell and feels like he's forcing himself and not being who he truly is. You can tell this isn't who he's meant to be because he's still a boy.

Honestly Claw Noir turning his staff into nunchucks is cool as hell. I hope regular Chat Noir does that sometime.

Same with Shadybug's lucky charms being guns and weapons and tools. Helpful stuff!

Damn, these specials are getting better and better! I'll admit, the reconciliation scene felt campy in a way I didn't like and it feels weird that even in another timeline Gabriel Agreste redeems himself more than Chloe, but other than that, good stars! Also the animation was good!

I know I'm not saying anything new or groundbreaking, but if you think about it, the writers really don't know how to incorporate characters into the narrative unless it is for pointless romantic drama or to be manipulated by Lila.

I'd say the treatment Luka and Kagami got in season 5 is the best example of it.

Kagami got to keep appearing because they used her as, say, a sort of catalyst for Lila's "solo villain" arc. Never mind it made no sense because Kagami had already been akumatised by her actions and was quite literally in Chat Noir's arms when he said she couldn't be trusted back in Oni-chan, or even the fact that after Protection that friendship served no further purpose other than Kagami informing Lila she wasn't invited to the Diamonds Ball because she was a nobody. Because, let's face it, they really didn't need to drag one of the best characters through the mud like that for something that could have been done by either Chloé (by virtue of being Lila's willing accomplice and haughty enough to brag about such a thing) or Gabriel (who at that point was quite done dealing with the brat he himself gave power to in the first place).

And aside from that, she also kept appearing for two reasons: her original, lingering feelings for Adrien and the fact that their parents wanted them to end up together kept feeding the Adrienette drama, and then she got her own share when her character was basically retooled into Félix's girlfriend and willing accomplice.

Compare it to Luka's situation. His only real major role was in Migration because his supportive and mature personality meant he was no longer involved in the romantic aspect of the show, and it would have been even more egregious to have him fall for Lila's lies when he is a living lie detector thanks to his ability to hear people's inner music. Notice how the two have NEVER interacted.

And what happened to him? He was unceremoniously booted for the remainder of the season (except the finale, I guess) despite his very important role of being Ladybug and Chat Noir's secret secret-keeper, which was admittedly a much more compelling angle than "Adrienette: The Star-Crossed Lovers" or "How to Use a Lying 14-Year-Old to Justify Your Terrorist Abusive Father Villain Being Redeemed" routes the season took.

God, this got long.

Legit they had no clue what to do with them and honestly I’m grateful Luka got shipped off to learn magic kung fu in Brazil when the alternative was the huge fucking mess they made with Kagami

If I’d had my way and Adrien was involved with the plot, Kagami (alongside Nino) could’ve served as support for figuring out their parent’s’ evil plans and putting a stop to them. No Lila, no arranged marriage, no Felix, just her and her buds uncovering Evil Secrets.

Similarly, I’d have had Luka (alongside Alya) serve as support for Marinette as she figures out Guardian stuff without the deadbeat daddy drama

Ok the post about the double standard treatment of Felix vs Chloe gat me thinking

In a better written show, Felix and Chloe could have been pretty good foils for breaking a cycle of abuse vs perpetuating one

Like, imagine a version of the show where Miracle Queen is just a tragic backslide but over the course of S4 Chloe gets her proper redemption arc completed, meanwhile Felix is shown to be unwilling to let others in, doubling down on being very 'me and mine first' by handing almost all of the Miraculous to Gabriel and actually being called out for genociding an entire planet instead of getting a girlfriend

ML is just. So. So close to the idea of narrative foils. They have several characters set up to be foils! Mari vs. Gabriel. Alya vs. Lila. Adrien vs. Felix. Adrien vs. Lila. Chloé vs. Lila vs. Felix vs. Zoé vs. Adrien.

But the closest they come to 'following through' on it is

1.) Chloé vs. Zoé, except without any nuance of the situation at hand and just 'haha one's good and one's evil!'

2.) Mari vs. Gabriel, except their parallels are a totally good thing that shows what good people both of them are!

I've recently watched a live video from Selah Victor in Instagram doing signings of Queen Bee merch. And according to her, Chloe is set to return in season six. Your thoughts?

Cautiously curious.

She was left in an outright horrible situation. So existence means the potential for said situation to change. it could change for better, not sure how much worse it could get, or it could not change. If she's not there it can't though, and they had the opportunity to write her off.

Some thoughts:

Keeping her static evil but useless after S5 would be beyond dead horse. So either evil+effective, or no longer evil(eventually) seems most likely (good)

They've missed several off-ramps already for this character, and poisoned the well significantly. (Bad)

They don't seem to care one wit about bringing stuff up out of nowhere(Derision) sudden turnarounds (Sabrina, Felix, Andre, Nathalie) or fixit ships (Felgami) so any are on the table. (Good)

Astruc's outspoken comments on Chloé (bad)

Astruc's ego and loving to 'outsmart' the viewers of this kid's show. (Good)

Chloé set up as a 'minion' for Lila in S5, and Lila's MO requiring she not be a grandstanding villain (bad)

So, we dunno. I'll keep an ear out. S5 left the show with nowhere clear to go. It's obvious it was a barely-tweaked series finalé. How they make it work is something I am curious about, but also not strongly invested in.

Everyone is happy in a largely unearned Utopia society built on the back of a Gabriel victory. History indicates the writing won't ever acknowledge this. The only villain is mean-girl Lila who is more wtf than threatening. The heroes have a full team and LB/CN have unlocked their cheat codes for unlimited winning.

There is zero tension going into S6. They have to build it all up from scratch. I'm... Not convinced this team is up to the task. I'd like to be proven wrong, but I haven't been so far (except when I actually over estimated them)

It's a shame. This concept deserves better.

I have so many other ideas with my au, that it's straying very far from the original concept. So I'm gonna talk about some of it, because, I felt like :) and I will eventually draw it. So I'm just gonna be rant about my ideas, at least the ones I'm not too lazy to write about lol.

So a bit of a rant below:

Anyways, Felix's design is all over the place in my head. But he's supposed to be looking like Lila's superior ( because he is. ) He's still gonna be wearing so much black lol.

And I fully intend on making Lila Italian. But she just was raised in " empire". Many people notice that she looks a lot different than what the other people did, but she didn't seem to mind too much.

Basically, Lila is an orphan. She didn't know who her family was, and what was even her name. So, she often traveled around the desolate streets in search of money or something. Many people helped her out ( cute kid duh), they were shocked that she didn't even have a name and named her all sorts of different names. Each name didn't mean much to her, and she just used it lie.

( I also have a reason for why she names herself as " Lila" but it's somewhat edgy, and I'm planning on making a short comic about it.)

Anyways, long story short she's an orphan. She lies about that to everyone though. And often claims that she's from a small yet noble family. Most people believe her ( *cough* kagami), except Felix. He's kinda done with her lies, but stays with her. The formal reason is because his dear uncle asked him to look after her.. but really he's curious about her.

I'm planning on keeping Felix, kagami and Adrian as sentimonsters. But have Felix and kagami be at least somewhat aware. All his life Felix has always been by the books, and following whatever order his father or superiors tell him. He's gotten so good at obeying and killing it's second nature to him. ( And I feel like he would be a sniper guy lol) It's a breath of fresh air, when he mets Lila.

Lila finds a way to bend the rules and commands in the most perfect way so that they would benefit her, and if it doesn't she simply won't do it. That's something Felix never really seen, since his most close friend other than his mother or Adrian is kagami who is exactly like him.

In this au, due to how perfectly " obedient" Felix is. He's called the " empire's dog", which is supposed to be a menacing title. But Lila takes that opportunity to make fun of him, and make "dog" jokes.

Since Lila was an orphan living in the slums of a war like country, she's had absolutely nothing to lose. That's why she's such a monster in that au, and why she likes to screw with Felix. Sure she's a complete Liar, but she's not just lying to be popular. She's doing it to live comfortably.

Felix is very good at observing, and he notices how her lies don't match up. Like how she claims to taste very fancy food, yet fawns over every dessert they have. Felix can tell she's.. not what she's saying she is. But doesn't expose her.

I made this romance not only because I like the ship, but it works well enough in my au.

Felix is somewhat relieved that she doesn't confuse him with Adrian ( they never met lol), and finds her fascinating and somewhat adorable.

While Lila never had actual friends before, or even a real family. But every time he protects her from certain death ( with how much Lila provokes people, it becomes way too common ). And genuinely sees her, as her. He sees past her lies, and sees.. well her. All her life she makes sure to give everyone what they want to see.. so it's very unnerving and interesting Felix is to Lila. Since no matter what lie she makes, Felix finds a way to prove the truth.

They're both monsters, yet they find a sense of care with each other. They both have committed heinous acts, each with a reason why. But they both know that their sins won't be forgiven so easily. So, they enjoy it while they can. The power and the luxury, at least that's what Lila plans to do and Felix will follow.

Sure they're not entirely sure how loyal or likely each one is to stab them it the back. But they find solitude with each other. Knowing that they can be monsters together.

There's more but I'm about to pass out lol.

Lila’s Story

Season 1:

She is introduced with the rest of the class, she blends in, she is no one special.

A few episodes in, she gets her "solo" episode. Basically a lot of the more background characters (like Juleka, Milene, whoever you know) have episodes "about" them where they get akumatized because of some minor conflict. Lila talks about how she was bullied at her previous school and now by Chloe and doesn't have any friends, gets akumatized, is saved and everyone tries to make her feel included. She fades into the background and isn't mentioned again for the season.

The bedroom scene also happens here (more on that later).

Season 2:

She doesn't really appear at all, just living in the background

There is one episode where it opens with the bathroom scene (again, more on that later), I think kinda partially during the mid-season finale idk idc and then during the big mid season finale a new miraculous holder appears. This is Lila as Volpina, except she doesn't actually have the fox miraculous and is just akumatized to appear that way. We also can't really tell it's Lila, like looks wise anyways. She's got a big mask on that kinda like covers the top half of her face but like context clues make it so its kinda obvious its her. She is basically the akumatized villain for those episodes and flees before anyone can ID her/deakumatize her so the characters don't know it was her.

The Chloe episodes happen where we learn abt Chloe's mom and everything, People are conflicted about Chloe, not sure whether they should try and help her and give her the benefit of the doubt or put her down and like reject her. Lila insists they help Chloe, that everyone deserves a chance to be included, and thus, she starts to befriend Chloe (This is the very end of season 2)

Season 3:

Starts off by establishing Lila is friends with Chloe. At some point maybe she and Chloe go on a trip together (like during the Shang Hai special they were traveling to American or some shit) and are besties. (Lila spent this time tracking down info about the miraculous but was actually traveling with Chloe)

Lila has a solo moment where she is trying to get hawkmoth's attention, hoping to get akumatized. Her wishes are not granted. Maybe this is the bathroom scene take 2 but that feels off to me might revamp the timing of all this later.

Eventually, Lila slips up and reveals too much to Chloe about her intentions to do evil things. It really isn't a big deal and Chloe doesn't even realize that she said something out of place. But Lila can't take chances so she

Turns on Chloe. This is near the end of the season. She talks about how awful Chloe is/was to her while she was just trying to do good but it is hopeless she is just too mean and the class turns on Chloe again, thus having Chloe revert back to how she was at the begining of the show

Season ends with Lila betraying LB and stealing the miraculous to give to hawkmoth. (This could be why marinette/adrien dont trust her because they knew she lied this whol time as a hero so maybe she is lieing irl too. Lila doesn't know LB/Chat's secret identities of course)

Might shift Lila's betrayal of Chloe to much later.

Season 4:

Lila has earned the trust of most of the class (minus chloe/sabrina and mari/adrien and Alya/Nino bc they trust their besties). It isn't full on civil war within the class but there is tension. Lila doesn't do much to instigate conflict.

She continues to work with Hawkmoth, slowly gathering more information. Maybe she refuses to give him the miracle box unless he reveals his identity to her or something like that so she can continue to have leverage over him.

By the big final conflict, she has a lot of information on everything and desperately wants a miraculous to make everything better. She wants to make herself special and rich and perfect and powerful and in control, but she gets sloppy, and thus, is killed when she tries to go against hawkmoth

I think there should also be scene before her final conflict with hawkmoth where she is getting desperate and frantic and ends up trying to turn the class against Mari and co. Maybe Marinette is trying to get the class to help stop her because she found out Lila is a supervillain and Lila tries to get the classmates to back her but she slips up in how she talks/acts and they all start to see through her facade.
