I made this video to try out the automated audio sync feature in Adobe Premiere Pro. My most video-friendly camera, the Panasonic Lumix GX85 lacks an audio input. So what I decided to was record audio into my Tascam DR-05. I used a Bluetooth speaker to monitor the recorder and captured crummy audio on the camera's internal mic.

Once I did some light edits on the audio, I imported it and the video into Premiere Pro and used the Synchronize feature to match the Tascam audio with the audio in the video track. Then I muted the camera's audio before output.

In this video, I'm experimenting with no-input feedback mixing. I've created a feedback loop in the mixer and then modulating it using various knobs on my garage-sale mixer. I run the output into my modular, mostly to ensure the signal isn't too hot going into the recorder, but I also ran the signal into the Wasp filter. Toward the end, I add the bandpass output from the Wasp into the mix.

Starting to consider the possibility I'm not actually a beginner in Japanese anymore? Like I'm definitely not intermediate yet but I think I might actually be at that grey area of pre-intermediate.

me and my partner are watching the "guy gets brain damage after being hit by a car" david tennant film, and it really is hitting all my fears of losing control and also

.... the way they depict brain damage is not so dissimilar from some of my internal life. specifically the bits when the character's pov is shown not being able to connect disparate bits of information/visual/audio/emotional/etc cues, I'm like. Ah. Yeah. That. That takes Effort

not as intensely as this character, but it often takes conscious effort to filter through the input in order to make it fit and take an action, and I'm wondering now if that's not a thing that happens to people most of the time....

sometimes I need to take a step back and remember just how many tracks layered it takes to get a studio song to sound how it does. We take it for granted that things don't sound like they would if everyone played stuff straight to you in a room, even just to be able to hear a guitar clearly n all. Mad work, studio work.

#I am stricter about not doubling parts if it can be helped (i.e. not dupl. + EQ to isolate different parts of a kit overhead)#but this is because I specifically work in live-to-tape radio sessions #also the reason for the drum EQ is we only have 8 inputs in studio hahaha. Most full studios will offer you at least 16 or 32.#so you can imagine the kind of shit I'm going through to make the vocalists heard #music #mixing #recording #live session #radio #radio stuff
