Claire knew she was different; in fact, it was one of the first things she really had to learn. Before that though, she simply thought the people she interacted with where disproportionally stupid. It was only after she realized she unnerved those around her, setting off alarms of warning of preservation, did she realize how special she was. Comparatively, it took Spencer Reid 1.39 seconds. (alternatively named 100 days of Claire)
prologue -Here! The Labrynth -Coming Soon! The Mirror -To Be Determined
United In Grief
How long can two hurting people hold on with only love keeping them together?
Late Night Concessions
Someone broke into your place; it was just past midnight and the rain was near deafening, but you were sure that was the sound of your front door window being shattered. With your phone on silent and Spencer’s number already dialed, you can only hope they’re here for your purse and tv and not the hiding girl beneath the bed.
Re-Run Special
Spencer finds love with a genius hedonistic girl who turns his world upside down, but their clash of personalities can leave him feeling a little left behind.
Play Your Cards Right
Y/n always loved Yu-Gi-Oh. From watching the show as a kid to trading and playing the card game, it’s always been a part of her life-- she should have known her boyfriend would try to learn it for her.
Coffee, My Secret Admirer
He had been wanting to try out the coffee shop on west and third for a while now, and he finally had the chance. He never thought he’d be caught up in a romance when a beautiful girl hopped over the counter and took his order, nor did he think they’d turn into not-so-secret admirers of one another.
Scale of Mental Stability
When a string of murders pick off where a long-arrested serial killer left off, the FBI’s first stop is the children of the cursed family. The problem? The only person who hates the man more than the son they arrested, is the daughter who’s out for blood.
My Hermes (Sending Me Letters From Above)
A coincidental meeting years ago leaves Spencer enthralled by a voice heard in the most unfortunate of circumstances. Y/n couldn't forget the man who gave her the best gift of all, the phone call of a lifetime.
The Seven Stages Of Loving You
A seven part series where Spencer falls in love with the BAU’s CI, or, Spencer finds out just how hard it is to build a future with someone constantly attacked by their past.
Absquatulate
Years had passed. Cases opened and closed, books were written and sold, the world spun and spun until... until it didn’t. The world kept moving until three am on Halloween night-- six shots of whiskey deep-- the world crashed down.
A. Hotch
Last Man Standing
No matter what it takes, even as bodies fall all around him and blood paints the streets, he will come home to you.
Just Like The Movies
It was a rare sight even before what will henceforth be known only as 'the incident' for Aarons smile to stretch so wide his eyes crinkled in a boyish manner that everyone believed was lost to time. It must have been a miracle.
The Egg Crusher
Serial killers in their own backyard had a tendency to start fires within the team that burn hotter than usual; one targeting pregnant women was practically begging them to shut him down. Aaron had begged her to take off work and finally start maternity leave. The worst part was she listened; the constant messages to his work email that set of ‘nesting’ alarms in his head had him convinced she had dived head first into it. Then he gets one signed off with the hidden moniker used when one of them gets themselves in trouble.
D. Morgan
Where You Go (I Wanna Go With You)
Derek always believed the job came first; complete the mission however he needed to for the case to close and the rest was simply collateral damage. Even now, when all is said and done, he couldn't say when his priorities shifted.
Where You Go (I Go)
Derek knew what it meant to be a great soldier. He knew how to follow all the rules and take initiative when appropriate; he’d learned these things as a means of survival. Even if the country he serves has dwindled down to one person, he knows to do everything in his power to get to her till his dying breath. (a part two)
Domesticated
The people at work tried to be more encouraging than envious when her boyfriend insists on driving her to and from work some random Tuesday. The imposing figure the man struck was intimidating, yet they all called him her ‘doberman puppy’.
J. Gideon
The Heart
He thought he'd lost it forever; for years it had been pegged as just another thing the horrors of his profession had stolen from him, a risk his mind simply wouldn't allow him to take. He should have known the brain had no power over matters of the heart.
E. Prentiss
Dancing With The Stars
Maybe in another world, when Emily crossed the dimly lit ballroom with a cutting smile and wandering hand, she did it without the mic in her ear.
E. Greenway
Comfort, Come Forth, King Forge
It was a dangerous field; that was all anyone ever said- you're a small girl, they'll eat you alive. For years after the academy she was always a girl first agent second; then she met her.
D. Rossi
Bella, Ciao
He may have chosen the wild life, but his heart remained every faithful in her hands.
These Trembling Hands
He thought it might be over; similar fates have happened to men far more successful than he. A mission gone wrong and they're sent to recovery, a mandates psych eval that already is stamped 'denied' to send him into retirement. He never thought he'd last this long in the first place, and if the pretty psychiatrist was his parting present he'd be a fool to look the gifted horse in the eye.
P. Garcia
Something Lost, Something Gained
It was a gilded reassignment that brought the new liaison to the team; she was, perhaps, the only agent who loathed the idea of being tacked on to the BAU's list of revolving-door members. The Cyber Response Unit had been home ever since the academy, but a single misstep had started the spiral towards madness, better known as the Behavioral Analysis Unit. Hopefully there would be someone on the team that wouldn't inherently know every little secret which had been carefully tucked away.

A freeway interchange as "urban renewal" in Atlanta
by Darin GIvens | Dec 9, 2024
This area, immediately south of Downtown Atlanta, is bounded on the north by Memorial Drive, on the east by Fraser Street, on the south by Fulton Street, and on the west by Central Avenue.
First photo: 1949 (GSU Digital Collections)
Second photo, showing the same area: 2024 (Google Maps)
This is part of the area dubbed Washington-Rawson during the post-WW2 Urban Renewal period. It wasn't the name of a distinct, existing neighborhood -- it was a name for a project that defined the blocks to be demolished for new development. The original plan appears to have been to displace the current population and build a place for wealthier (and whiter) residents. probably to compete with suburban flight.
It was, of course, a horrible plan that erased neighborhood fabric and uprooted thousands of residents, hitting immigrant and Black communities the hardest. The fact that it didn't actually turn out as hoped is small comfort. What did get built instead was a giant I-75/85/20 interchange, cutting off communities from each other and from walkable access to many destinations.
The following are passages from Daniel Judt's “Limitations of the Past: Atlanta’s Stadium and Atlanta’s Image, 1960-2015.” Yale Historical Review (Spring 2015)
"While the press and the Hartsfield administration maintained that clearing Washington-Rawson would get rid of one of the city’s worst slums, some saw the area as merely lower-middle class. Washington-Rawson was not a single neighborhood, but an intersection of two streets within the parameters of the urban renewal project. (Renewal projects were often named after streets.) The project pulled from parts of three neighborhoods: Summerhill, Mechanicsville, and Peoplestown" "[Mayor Ivan] Allen thought there would certainly be interest in developing an upper-middle class residential community that could link to a modernized downtown. By 1959, much of the Washington-Rawson site had been leveled...Residents of Mechanicsville and Peoplestown, the two neighborhoods directly affected by the program, saw 3,261 living units dismantled; over 3,000 individuals and families were removed." "...His plan for an area flush with businesses had, by 1963, ground to a halt. Vast amounts of land had been cleared, but the city could not find private developers interested in buying up the area. The project had lost space due to the construction of the messy intersection of Interstates 20, 75, and 85. The intersection was supposed to give the greater Atlanta region easy access to the CBD, but instead awkwardly cut off the remaining urban renewal land from the shopping district. Citizens in their cars would likely head straight home rather than traipse into downtown."
We can't entirely undo the bad plans of the past, but we can use better intentions to mitigate their impact and create good urbanism in every possible space. The few pedestrian passages that do exist near this interchange should be excellent environments for walking, and cycling (they currently are not).
Each neighborhood affected by this gulf of asphalt should be given every bit of public help available to be a complete urban space with its own shopping districts, parks, and affordable housing. Looking at the Mechanicsville neighborhood for instance (it lies immediately south of the area pictured above), one still sees a lot of empty land where buildings used to be. Looking at the neighborhood on the city’s GIS mapping tool, you can see the parcel divisions that used to be homes and more:
And Downtown, which became cut off from other parts of the city by the interstates, needs thousands of new residents to help it become a more self-sufficient place that relies less heavily on weekday commuters and events goers in order to achieve the level of vibrancy a downtown should have; and to take advantage of the high level of transit service and walkable streets here.
Making mistakes is something that all cities do at some point (though this kind of mistake is particularly egregious and worthy of scorn). Another thing cities do is make corrections -- we can do it by adding life to dead spaces and by redesigning the public realm of our streets, with an eye on equitable outcomes. It’s past time that we address the mistakes of Atlanta's Urban Renewal period in a comprehensive way that lifts up our neighborhoods above the detritus of car-centric, racist, and classist actions.

What Is Forex? The Wild World of Currency Trading
Ever felt that rush when you drop a few coins into a gumball machine, anxiously waiting to see what color you’ll get? Welcome to the thrilling realm of Forex trading—a universe where speculation and strategy collide like Deadpool and a bad guy in a dark alley. So, buckle up and grab your favorite chimichanga; let’s jump into the vibrant, chaotic world of Forex!
What the Heck Is Forex?
Alright, folks, let’s get down to brass tacks (or, you know, shiny copper coins). Forex, or foreign exchange, is the largest financial market in the world. Yeah, even bigger than that stash of Yu-Gi-Oh cards you used to have! Here’s the scoop: Forex is where currencies are traded 24 hours a day, five days a week. Picture a never-ending marketplace with traders from every corner of the globe, shouting and signaling—kinda like a bazaar but with less camel and more currencies.
In a nutshell, Forex allows you to swap one currency for another. Think of it as a super-powered financial bartering system, only instead of trading goats or magic rocks, we’re dealing with dollars, euros, and yen. You buy one currency while simultaneously selling another. Easy peasy, right? Well, sort of!
Why Trade Forex? Is It Worth It?
1. Market Liquidity? Heck Yeah!
Imagine a party where everyone’s invited—except the awkward guy who talks about birdwatching. Forex has over $6 trillion (yes, trillion with a “t”) traded every single day. That means you can buy or sell almost any currency almost whenever you want. No waiting for your crypto buddy to finish updating his meme stock portfolio!
2. Leverage: The Double-Edged Sword
In Forex, leverage means you're trading with borrowed funds, allowing you to control larger positions than you could otherwise afford. It sounds epic, right? But let me warn you, with great power comes great responsibility! Use leverage wisely, or you might find yourself sliding down the wrong side of “Oops! I lost all my money!”
3. Trade Anytime, Anywhere!
Thanks to the magic of the internet (and a little help from our good friends, computers), Forex is open 24/5! You can trade from your couch, at the park, or even in a taco truck line. The world’s your oyster—or, should I say, your market!
4. Diversify That Portfolio
Bored of your usual stocks? Throw in some Forex action! Currency trading provides a fantastic opportunity to diversify your investment portfolio. After all, you wouldn’t just eat one flavor of ice cream, would you? (If you said yes, I question your life decisions!)
Basic Terminology: Don’t Get Left Behind!
1. Currency Pairs: The Dynamic Duo
In Forex, currencies are traded in pairs—like Batman and Robin, or peanut butter and jelly. Each pair consists of a base currency and a quote currency. For example, in the EUR/USD pair, the euro (EUR) is the base, and the US dollar (USD) is the quote. When you see this pair, you're essentially asking, “How much is one euro worth in dollars?”
2. Pips: Not the Pizza Kind!
A pip is a unit of measurement used to express changes in currency pairs. It's usually the fourth decimal place of a currency pair. For instance, if EUR/USD moves from 1.2000 to 1.2001, that's one pip. Think of it as a tiny frog hopping along the trading path.
3. Spread: The Cost of Admission
Ah, the spread—what you pay (or “lose”) to enter the Forex market. The spread is the difference between the buying and selling price of a currency pair. It's like paying a cover charge at a bar before enjoying the nightlife—except this bar might leave you screaming for mercy!
Getting Started in Forex: Your Fighting Chance
1. Find a Broker, Your Trusted Sidekick
To trade Forex, you need a broker. This savvy partner will help you execute trades and manage your account. Shop around for one that’s reputable, reliable, and offers an easy-to-use platform. Look for reviews; even Batman has a few bad reviews on Yelp, right?
2. Open a Demo Account: Practice Makes Perfect!
Before you throw your money into the trading pit like a seasoned gladiator, give a demo account a whirl! Most brokers offer these accounts for free to help you practice and sharpen your key trading skills. Learn how to read charts, implement strategies, and most importantly, NOT cry when you lose money!
3. Learn the Strategies: Boring, But Necessary
Whether you’re a day trader or prefer long-term strategies, learning the ropes is crucial! You wouldn't jump into battle without your sword (or at least some cool katanas), right? Read up on technical analysis, fundamental analysis, and sentiment analysis. It may sound like a snooze-fest, but trust me, it'll save you from tossing your hard-earned cash out the window.

Conclusion: Welcome to the Revolution!
So there you have it, folks! Forex is not just some mystical realm meant for Wall Street wolves; it's a playground for the everyday hero (or anti-hero, depending on your style!). With its liquidity, 24/5 accessibility, and potential for profit, Forex offers opportunities for everyone willing to learn and adapt.
Now that you've got a taste of the extensive world of Forex, go out there and get your feet wet (but don’t literally go to a puddle and start yelling, “I’m a Forex trader!”). Master the tips, tricks, and tools, and who knows? You might just come to slay in this game! Just remember: Stay smart, stay bold, and never forget to stock up on those delicious chimichangas!

Let's review the manifesto for Cripple Punk again! [Addressing the discourse]
With all of the discourse I see about who is/can identify with Cripple Punk or Cpunk I think it's time to take some time to reaffirm the basics and take some time to shine a spotlight on the Madpunk movement.
You can find the original manifesto here but I copied it down below
principles of cripple punk: -cripple punk is exclusively by the physically disabled for the physically disabled -cripple punk is about solidarity & is open to all physically disabled people -cripple punk rejects pity, inspiration porn, & all other forms of ableism
-cripple punk rejects the “good cripple” mythos. cripple punk is here for the bitter cripple, the uninspirational cripple, the smoking cripple, the drinking cripple, the addict cripple, the cripple who hasn’t “tried everything”
-cripple punk fights internalized ableism & fully supports those struggling with it
-cripple punk respects intersections of race, culture, gender, sexual/romantic orientation, size, intersex status, mental illness/neuroatypical status, survivor status, etc.
-cripple punk recognizes that there is no one universal disabled experience
-cripple punk does not pander to the able bodied
———————— other rules:
-cripple punk is not conditional on things like mobility aids & “functioning levels”
-always listen to those w/ different physical disabilities & different intersections than yourself. do not speak over them
-disabled people do not need to personally identify w/ the words “cripple” or “punk” individually to be a part of cripple punk
-able bodied people wishing to spread the message may only ever amplify the voices of the disabled
-able bodied people may never use uncensored slurs themselves but never censor our language
-able bodied people must always tag things like reblogs with “i’m able bodied”
-physically disabled people wanting to be a part of the movement who are uncomfortable using the slur may refer to it as “cpunk”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The thing is that there *is* an intersection between mental disabilities and physical disabilities but they are very different in my personal experience. That doesn't mean that one is worse than the other; just that their experiences are very different.
As someone who struggled as an adolescent with Ulcerative Colitis then spent my teenage years struggling with Treatment Resistant Depression, General Anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and Bipolar Type 2, followed by my twenties being taken over from having to deal with Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder and GI issues again I have experience with both sides of the coin.
As a teenager my mental disabilities ruined my life. I struggled with motivation, suicidal ideation, hygiene, classwork and more. I found it hard to get out of bed most days. I struggled with insomnia. I failed half my classes freshman year due to undiagnosed depression. I cannot go to some places due to the loud noises, bright lights, and more that cause sensory issues.
What I have found to be useful for my mental disabilities is Madpunk. It actually talks about ways to cope with my mental issues and solutions. It talks about the negative and positive impacts of psychiatry.
However dealing with my physical disabilities is a completely different game. I have to think about whether public events will be accessible to me if I am using my rollator or a wheelchair. I get harassed by strangers for having a disability placard. I have to gauge my stamina and weigh the cost/benefits of going shopping. I am constantly using the bathroom - missing class time. Some days I cannot physically move out of my bed due to the amount of pain I am in. It can take me days to recover if I push myself past my limits. Sometimes my knees give out on me and I collapse.
Both my mental illness and physical illness have left me bed bound before - but the experiences are completely different. The treatment for mental and physical disabilities are different. The overlap of having a physical disability and then getting a mental disability is very common.
The cripple punk movement accepts the intersection between physical disability and mental disabilities. The definition of able-bodied is not having a physical disability. But if you only have mental disabilities and are able bodied there is space for you in the Madpunk movement. Mental Disabilities can be just as debilitating as Physical Disabilities - that is not in question. Just please don't be trying to take up space in a movement where we want to focus on our physical disabilities.
The Madpunk movement is under recognized and more people should help join in and further their cause. There is so much good discussion happening there - please go check it out! Talk about your personal experiences and help develop more theory.
The end message is that all disabled people are harmed by our current system. There should be more accommodations for mental disabilities. We need to focus on uplifting all of us rather than fighting each other and missing the real enemy.

Squid Game season two review – TV that will make you uncomfortably bloodthirsty indeed
One of Hollywood’s many bad habits is the bloat caused by splitting a story in half in a bid to double the profits (cough, cough, Dune and Wicked). Squid Game was always a perfect one-series story. Gambling addict Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) became Player 456, a desperate man who attempts to pay off his debts by taking part in a twisted underground fight-to-the-death competition. He beats the odds by surviving every one of its potentially fatal playground games. When it first appeared, it was horrifying, it was thrilling, and its satirical edge – which examined capitalism and class in South Korea – was clever and acidic. The world took to it in vast numbers.
That it became one of Netflix’s most successful, and therefore most profitable, series of all time placed it in a creative bind. Inevitably, it was renewed for a second and then third series, but even before that, its satirical edge was stress-tested by Squid Game: The Challenge, a real gameshow spinoff. That was far more entertaining than it had any right to be, but its win-big mentality did rather undermine the point of the original, which took aim at the inherent unfairness of an exploitative economic system.
But that was a diversion, and its many millions of viewers will be keen to see if Squid Game can recapture its magic, even with a return that seems unnecessary at least in narrative terms. For the first three of these seven new episodes, it struggles to find its purpose. It is three years after Gi-hun walked away with the money, and he is hellbent on seeking revenge on the super-rich puppet-masters who engineered its deadly spectacle. He is chasing shadows, using some of his vast cash reserves (or “blood money”) to fund a mercenary army. He joins forces with the former detective Hwang Jun-ho, who is still trying to find his brother, to look for the Salesman, the man in the suit who asks strangers to play ddakji with him before recruiting them as players. Months pass, and the dead ends mount.
The early episodes feel like delaying tactics, and considering that this is Squid Game, it is all rather ordinary. There are chase scenes, car crashes and gun fights. The satirical element has been replaced by a quest for vengeance. It is entertaining enough, but it does lead to an uncomfortably bloodthirsty sensation, of willing everyone to get back to the sports day with a body count. Given that the last episode feels very much like the halfway point in the story, which will continue with a final series next year, this dragging of heels is gratuitous.
It gets better. When Gi-hun finally becomes Player 456 again – and this is revealed in the trailer, which seems to have an understanding of the need for the games and the structure provided by them – it is a welcome kick up the backside. Here, it begins to embrace the familiar, and make enough changes to freshen everything up. It starts to go deeper into the lives of the masked soldiers who enforce the rules. There are new players, and so a whole new cast to either root for or despise. The idea of expensive healthcare, and the conflation of wealth and health, is foregrounded, which is timely. It introduces a mother and her son – as both Squid Game: The Challenge and the last series of The Traitors know, this dynamic is dramatic gold. In other cases, it makes the villains cartoonishly awful. A rapper named Thanos is one of the most irritating characters to appear on TV in recent times.
One of the preoccupations of Squid Game is human nature. As a species, are we fundamentally decent and magnanimous, or are we craven, greedy and selfish? The Salesman reminds us of the theme early on, when he takes two bags of shopping to a park mostly populated by the homeless and others down on their luck. He offers them a choice: bread, or a scratch card? The certainty of a meal, or the possibility of cash? Most take the risk, not knowing the outcome. Gi-hun already knows the outcome of the games, or at least he thinks he does. But whether he can persuade the others what it actually means to play when the odds are stacked against you is another story.
For all of its unevenness, particularly as it is warming up to the proper action, there is one big twist that really works, though whether it is distinct enough from what happens in the first series is unclear. And when you think you know where it is going, it turns away from its trajectory, upping the ante and finding its feet. What a shame it takes so long to get there though. Series three has some cleaning up to do.

Squid Game - season 2 (2024) review

Red light…. Green light…
Plot: Set three years after the first season, the story focuses on Seong Gi-hun's life after winning the Squid Game, giving up on going to the United States and returning to the games with a new resolution in mind. He once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of ₩45.6 billion.
I’ve read a few audience responses complaining about how this season has a very slow start and doesn’t get going until episode 3/4 when we get back into the Squid Game arena. However I beg to differ, as from the get-go thus season kicks off on a high with Gi-hun hunting for clues to reach the Front Man, and the whole section about searching for the Salesman was honestly great. The sequence involving Rock, Paper, Scissors and Russian Roulette was one of the most tense parts of the entire season. That is by the way an interesting factor of this second outing - the shock value is no longer there…
We see it every day on the front page of all our social feeds. Content that triggers, disgusts, and prods our emotions into a watch, share, or discussion. Content that should never have made it to our eyeballs, but garnered more likes than that Capybara eating a watermelon. The first Squid Game was that level of a phenomenon, garnering a huge viewership and online discourse and becoming one of Netflix’s most watched shows. Maybe even the most watched show… or is that still Stranger Things? No clue, nor am I bothered to Google. Nevertheless, Squid Game’s slap to the face violence was such a dopamine rush for content hungry viewers, and the incorporations of something so innocent as children’s games with said violence was a unique and original idea. Well, not even that original if you consider Battle Royale. But truly Squid Game was a fun watch. The second season offers more of the same, only with a higher budget, better writing and maybe a tad too much exposition to set up the already-filmed third season.
Squid Game 2’s biggest fault is that essentially it’s the same thing all over again. Yes there are new characters, different dynamics and some new games to ruin your collective childhoods, but it is the same thing again. Was good to see Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-Jae) more confident and rebellious this time around compared to the last season, and the shadowy Front Man (Lee-Byung Hun) gets more of a backstory and screen time and honestly it’s a gift, as he manages to be both extremely charming yet sinister.
But let’s be honest, we’re just out to see some bloody and connect to characters that will shortly get killed off in gruesome fashion. On that stance this season delivers. Even though it’s really half a season, and the upcoming third season is more so a season 2.5.
Overall score: 7/10

A While-Reading Review:
The Secret Life of Groceries
By Benjamin Lorr
Part 1
At the 1956 International Food Congress in Rome […]the USDA set up an “American way exhibit.” It featured the first fully stocked supermarket outside of the United States. This was a modest staging, designed more for easy assembly and dismantling. It held a mere 2,500 brands, a few packaged meats in a lone refrigerated case, and a small selection of prepared food. When the exhibit opened, and crowds finally entered, the Italian women went berserk. One notable enthusiast began running up and down the aisles shouting, “It must be heaven…There are mountains of food!” Press reports described others as standing “stunned,” “goggle eyed,” “bewildered,” and “shrieking with surprise and envy.”
This was not media hype. Pope Pius XII himself weighed in, announcing his blessing from the Holy See. (Page 36)
I’ve never knew how much the grocery store is such an American thing. It could’ve only flourished and happen in America, originally. It as a normal way of life solidified before World War II, and by the 1950’s it became a social fact, just how you shop for food. This oversimplified summary is full of examples: 7/11’s start in the 1920’s, the rise of Piggly Wiggly’s (with It’s GameStop meme shorting story), and building a store so big it covers an entire square foot. While the world lost its minds over a very little mock grocery store in 1956, we were already living in Costco size stores.
So how did we get here? What in our mind causes the supermarket? It doesn’t answer it, if anything, its whole argument relies off of your familiarity with the American and the introduction of Joe Coulombe, the Trader Joe.
How Joe survived the corporate super market area of the 1956’s is nothing more than the true rebirth of American entrepreneurism. No truly, look up his theory papers: he combined the design philosophy of the Boeing 747 (newly released), targeting educated, but poor, GI Bill college students, and purchasing as self-expression. This was revolutionary in the sense that he had enough disposable, advent-grade, intellect that read the symbolism of America and pointed it towards his stores. He did everything, EVERYTHING, himself. He read laws to undermine industry norms and created new trends and cravings. He took risks and every tenth experiment hit, but it is nothing like our Trader Joe’s, he sold it and is run by someone else now.
This is a fantastic introduction into the mirror that is the American mind that became engrossed in the image and likeness of the supermarket. When you hear of the haphazardness, the care, and the expense that created our modern grocery stores, it is truly only down hill from here.

The Sunnydale Herald Newsletter, Tuesday, May 7
Riley: “Well, hey! Willow – and Xander, right? Jeez, what are the chances, huh? Yeah, I was just passing by when I thought I heard people inside.” Willow: “Passing by in your GI Joe outfit?” Buffy: “No offence, but you do look wicked conspicuous.” Riley: “I do? But it’s... – Paintball! Yeah, I was playing paintball. And then the aftershocks...” Xander: “So you’re one of the commando guys, huh?” Riley: Oh, no, no, no, no. Commando? No, I mean... (Notices Spike) Don’t I know you?” Spike: “Me? (Affecting a bad Texan accent) No. No, sir. I’m just an old pal of Xander’s here.” Riley: “Oh. That’s nice.”

Let’s talk about Make Mate 1.
Okay, now that the show’s over and I can finally get online, let’s tackle some questions I’ve accumulated while doing these recaps. I’ll save the biggest revelation for the end.

Why did Xiumin not show up until Episode 3? It looks like it was planned that way. Lee Gi-Kwang (Not-Xiumin) was listed as the “special host” to announce the start of the program. If I had to guess, after reviewing Not-Xiumin’s Wikipedia page, I’d say he was chosen because he had projects to promote. In early 2024, he was starring in a South Korean television show (currently streaming on Netflix) called Marry My Husband. I remember watching the first episode back when it first dropped on Netflix, and it looked interesting enough that I kept it on my watch list for a few weeks. He was also a judge on another reality competition show calledPeak Time in 2023.
I found a fun fact about Not-Xiumin. We learned during MA1 that he was a member of the boy band Beast when the trainees covered one of their songs. What I didn’t know was that Beast later changed their name to Highlight. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because at the end of the Episode 8 recap, where I was listing onstage mistakes made by famous groups, the list included Son Dongwoon from Highlight accidentally knocking his mic off the stand. I had no idea when I used that example that Not-Xiumin was also in that group.

What happened to the two contestants who just disappeared, Kim Se Gon and 06 Kim Seung Ho? Everything I found on Kim Se Gon says that he left the show before it was set to air, and his pictures were deleted from the show’s social media accounts. The posts make it seem like he was never on the show, even listing that the show only had 35 candidates, but we know that’s not the case. Maybe the show was not happy about the friction he had with Kim Sunyub in Episode 3. According to the K-profiles website, Se Gon left the show due to personal reasons.
As for 06 Sim Seung Ho, he actually announced his departure on July 5 due to personal reasons. It’s always personal reasons, but at least the show didn’t try to gaslight us into thinking he was never one of the contestants.
Are flashbacks scripted on these K-pop survival reality shows? I’ve been down the rabbit hole since I started these recaps, reading a lot about how these shows are produced, and I’ve learned that pretty much EVERYTHING is scripted on these shows. You really can’t trust anything you see. They’re just like American reality shows. Everything is scripted and storyboarded, and there’s no limit to what the showrunners will do to make an engaging story. Literally no limit. As we discussed at the end of Boys Planet, showrunners have gone to jail for going as far as to rig scores.
In the case of MA1, I’m even willing to give Sun Yub and Se Gon the benefit of the doubt over the “fight” they had in Episode 2. I found a great article by Caroline MacLellan for The Current, called “The Cruelty of K-pop Survival Shows,” and she mentions a similar episode from another show:
For example, trainee Fu Yaning from Girls Planet 999 was forced by Mnet to diss another contestant, former CLC member Choi Yujin. Mnet later edited the clip by inserting shocked reactions from Yujin and the judges, despite being the one that directed Yaning to say such harsh words. As a result, Yaning received negative reactions from fans.
The whole article is worth a read. I recommend checking it out.
What was that children’s store that Team BoyNextDoor visited in Episode 9? You would not believe the internet sleuthing I had to do. Google was no help. So I spent almost an hour rewatching that whole scene and enlarging the images, and thankfully, the blurring done inside the store was not blurry enough.
It’s called the Wiggle Wiggle Flagship store. It’s a prop shop, which explains the costumes, hats, big plastic flowers, and everything else that looks like it came from Pee-Wee’s Playhouse. It’s for shoppers looking for “colorful, fun, and whimsical products,” which sounds about right for Korea.

The store is four stories high and is designed for social media. There’s even a Flip Room on the third floor, where all the furniture is attached to the ceiling.
I got the details and photos from a site called Ploy’s Little Atlas. Check out the link — the site has so many additional photos and details.
Any updates on the trainees who were eliminated? K-Profiles always has updates on what eliminated trainees on these shows has been up to. They have a page for the MA1 trainees, but in most cases, it’s way too soon after the show for there to be any updates. Almost all of them have set up social media accounts. Several of them set up and then deleted their accounts, which tells me they may be getting ready to join other survival reality shows, or they’ve been signed to new management who wants to handle their social media presence.
Jo Jae Hyun, who was eliminated in the first round, has not set up a social media account, and nothing is known about him yet. Same with Jo Seung Hyun and Chen Shia Fu.
Okay, now for the biggest revelation.
I mentioned before that just about everything is scripted on these shows. I learned after writing the MA1 recaps that some shows will flat-out lie to us. On the very first episode of this show, we were told that these trainees were “ordinary boys” who had never performed live before.
They drove this point home a lot. They kept referring to them as “ordinary boys,” even in the finale. When fans were lining up for the very first performance in the first episode, they were quoted as saying, “We were curious, since they’re trainees without agencies.”
Well.
That’s not entirely true.
I didn’t research all of the 36 contestants, but here are just a few interesting facts. Before joining this show:

Noh Gi Hyun was a former member of the trainee group Daily Note. They didn’t get to debut, but the fact that he was put into a pre-debut boy group shows he had experience in the industry.
Bing Fan was a trainee of Chromosome Entertainment.
Miraku was previously on another survival reality show called Nizi Project 2. He was eliminated in the second final stage.
Kim Se Gon was a contestant on a show called LOUD in 2021. He was eliminated in the first round.
And then, there’s our K-pop Elvis, Han Yu Seop. He’s a former trainee of two entertainment companies: 143 Entertainment and Jellyfish Entertainment.
Does Jellyfish Entertainment sound familiar?
Back on Boys Planet, Park Gun Wook from Wild Idol was the Leader of the Jellyfish Entertainment team. And Han Yu Seop was one of his teammates. We saw Han Yu Seop on that show.
I went back and re-watched the first episode. He’s there, but he’s in the background. Park Gun Wook is the focus. The camera is on Park Gun Wook all the time. The judges only talk to him. I grabbed some screenshots with Han Yu Seop in them, but it wasn’t easy.

I want to make it very clear – I’m not accusing Han Yu Seop of anything. MA1 lied to us, not the trainees. The show had a story to tell, and the idea of 36 ordinary boys who had never performed live before getting a chance to debut is a way more interesting story than the ones we usually get about experienced trainees trying to debut.
And Han Yu Seop was very smart to jump at this opportunity, even if he hadn’t ended up in the winning group. Like so many of the 98 contestants on Boys Planet, he was given almost no screen time. When that show did their eliminations, they only announced the survivors, so we never knew that he ranked 85th and was cut in the first round of eliminations in Episode 5. I mean, I’m sure it was on the screen somewhere, and I’m sure the camera zoomed in on him now and then during the performances. But he wasn’t the focus. The three members of the Jellyfish team who weren’t named Park Gun Wook were there to be the supporting act for Park Gun Wook.
When Han Yu Seop first appeared on MA1, he was electrifying. I was rooting for him from the moment he picked up his guitar at the audition in Episode 1. When I read that he was on Boys Planet, I thought that had to be a mistake, because I definitely would have remembered him. But I didn’t, because he was one of many, many trainees who never stood a chance on that show.
Plus, of course, I had seen Park Gun Wook on Wild Idol and wanted to focus on him. The minute I recognized him on Boys Planet, I forgot his three teammates even existed. And even if I hadn’t recognized him, the show was edited to focus on him.
Moving on.
I’ve recapped five survival reality shows now. As much as I’ve enjoyed the others, I’m always missing what I loved about No Mercy. Compared to the bigger, flashier shows, No Mercy had an indie punk old school vibe. I think my next project will be an old school show like that one. If I can find another show like that.
In the meantime, I’ll be very interested to see how NouerA turns out and what their music is like. (Man, that’s a badly-spelled name. Why French? Why not just call them NewEra?) Stay tuned for January 2025 for their debut. I’ll definitely be looking out for their first song and video.
See you then, Noubees!

Order Diabetic Meals in Australia: Convenient, Healthy Options for Better Blood Sugar Control
Managing diabetes requires careful attention to diet, and for many people, it can be challenging to prepare healthy, balanced meals every day. In Australia, the demand for diabetic-friendly meal options has grown, and companies are offering convenient meal delivery services designed specifically for people managing diabetes. These services offer a hassle-free way to ensure you're getting nutritious, portion-controlled meals that support stable blood sugar levels.

In this blog, we’ll explore why ordering diabetic meals in Australia is a great option and how it can help make managing diabetes simpler and healthier.
Why Diabetic-Specific Meals Matter
Diabetes management revolves around maintaining consistent blood sugar levels, which involves eating the right combination of carbohydrates, protein, and fats. Meals high in refined carbs or sugars can cause blood sugar spikes, while meals rich in fiber, lean protein, and healthy fats promote stability. That’s why meal plans tailored specifically for diabetics can make such a significant difference.
When you order diabetic meals in Australia, you're not only saving time but also ensuring that each dish is prepared with balanced nutrition in mind. These meals are often low in sugar, low in unhealthy fats, and high in nutrients that support energy, heart health, and overall well-being.
Benefits of Ordering Diabetic Meals in Australia
1. Convenience without Compromise
One of the biggest advantages of ordering pre-made diabetic meals is the convenience. Many people living with diabetes find it time-consuming to constantly prepare fresh, balanced meals that meet their dietary needs. Meal delivery services eliminate the need to plan, shop, and cook, providing ready-to-eat meals that align with diabetes management goals. Whether you're a busy professional, a senior, or someone with a hectic schedule, diabetic meal delivery services can help maintain a healthy lifestyle without sacrificing convenience.
2. Expertly Designed for Health
Companies offering diabetic meals typically work with nutritionists and dietitians to ensure the meals are balanced and in line with Australian Dietary Guidelines. These professionals understand the unique dietary needs of diabetics and ensure that each meal includes the right mix of low-GI carbohydrates, lean proteins, and healthy fats. This expert guidance gives peace of mind that the food you’re consuming is both healthy and enjoyable.
3. Portion Control Made Easy
Portion control is a critical part of managing diabetes, as overeating—even healthy foodscan lead to unwanted blood sugar spikes. When you order diabetic meals, each dish is portioned for balanced caloric intake and optimal nutrition. This makes it easier to stick to dietary guidelines and prevents the temptation of eating more than your body needs.
4. A Variety of Delicious Options
One common misconception about diabetic diets is that they are bland or boring. However, meal delivery services offer a wide variety of flavorful options, from hearty breakfasts to filling dinners. Meals are designed to satisfy your taste buds without compromising your health goals. Whether you're craving something savory like grilled chicken and vegetables or a lighter, plant-based option, diabetic meal services cater to a range of preferences.
Finding the Right Diabetic Meal Delivery Service
In Australia, there are several companies that specialize in providing diabetic-friendly meals. When choosing a service, look for one that offers flexible plans, fresh ingredients, and customizable options based on your specific dietary needs. Also, check reviews to ensure that previous customers have had positive experiences with the taste and quality of the meals.

Conclusion
Ordering diabetic meals in Australia offers an excellent solution for anyone looking to maintain healthy blood sugar levels without the stress of meal preparation. With the combination of convenience, expert-designed nutrition, portion control, and delicious variety, diabetic meal delivery services can help make managing diabetes easier and more enjoyable.

How Safe Are Water Sports in Dubai for Tourists?
Dubai, a dazzling oasis in the heart of the desert, is not only known for its architectural wonders and luxury shopping; it has become a hotspot for various thrilling water activities. The city's scenic beaches, blue oceans, and pleasant climate all year make it a great destination for adventurers wishing to participate in water sports. From jet skiing and paddleboarding to parasailing and deep-sea fishing, the opportunities for enjoyment are limitless. However, like with any adventurous endeavor, safety comes first. In this article, we'll look at how safe water sports are in Dubai for tourists and what measures they may take.
An Overview of Water Activities in Dubai
When we talk about water activities in Dubai, we are referring to an extensive range of engagements that cater to everyone from beginners to seasoned water sport aficionados. Some popular water sports activities in Dubai include:
- Jet Skiing: Experience the thrill of zipping across the waves while enjoying stunning views of the iconic Dubai skyline.
- Parasailing: Soar high above the Arabian Gulf and take in a bird's eye view of some of Dubai's most famous landmarks.
- Diving and Snorkeling: Explore underwater wonders, including coral reefs and vibrant marine life.
- Wakeboarding and Water Skiing: Ride the waves and enjoy the rush of speed and control.
- Kayaking and Paddleboarding: A more tranquil experience that lets you navigate the calm waters at your own pace.
These Dubai sea activities are not only exciting but also safe when managed properly.
Safety Standards and Regulations
When considering water sports in the UAE, it's important to note that the country has strict regulations and safety standards in place. The Dubai Maritime City Authority and other local regulatory bodies ensure that operators adhere to safety guidelines, which include:
1. Safety Equipment: All water sports equipment must be regularly inspected and maintained. Life jackets, helmets, and other safety gear are mandatory for participants.
2. Trained Instructors: Most water sports activities in Dubai are conducted by professional instructors who are certified and trained in water safety. They guide tourists on how to use the equipment and perform the activities safely.
3. Insurance Coverage: Reputable water sports companies typically provide insurance coverage for their customers. This helps protect against accidents and injuries.
4. Regular Safety Drills: Operators frequently conduct safety drills and training sessions for staff to ensure they are well-prepared to handle emergencies.
What Tourists Should Look For
While the regulatory framework is in place to protect tourists, it is essential for individuals to do their part by choosing reputable operators. Here are some tips for ensuring safety when engaging in watersports activities in Dubai:
- Research Operators: Look for well-reviewed water sports companies that adhere to safety standards. Check online reviews, ratings, and recommendations.
- Check Equipment Condition: Before starting any activity, inspect your equipment. Make sure it is in good condition and free from any defects.
- Pay Attention to Briefings: Listen carefully to the safety briefings provided by instructors. They will explain the risks, safety protocols, and how to operate the equipment securely.
- Follow the directions: Always follow your instructors' directions and suggestions, especially while using equipment or dealing with emergencies.
- Watch the Weather: Weather conditions can change rapidly in Dubai. Always check local forecasts and heed any warnings about adverse weather or water conditions.
Health and Fitness Considerations
Before embarking on any water sports activities in Dubai, tourists should consider their health and physical fitness. Some activities may require a certain level of strength and stamina, and those with medical conditions should consult a doctor beforehand. Hydration is crucial, especially given Dubai's warm climate; tourists are encouraged to drink plenty of water before and after activities to avoid dehydration.
Lifeguard Presence
Most popular beaches and water sports centers in Dubai have lifeguards on duty. Their presence provides an additional layer of protection, guaranteeing that quick aid is accessible in the event of an emergency. It's vital for tourists to familiarize themselves with the location of lifeguard stations and understand how to seek help if needed.
Emergency Protocols
In the unlikely event of an accident while engaging in water sports, tourists should be aware of the emergency protocols in place. Most operators have clear procedures for notifying emergency services, and instructors are trained in first aid. Carrying emergency contact information, including local emergency numbers, can also be beneficial.
Water sports in Dubai provide tourists with unforgettable experiences filled with excitement and adventure. The city's strict safety regulations, professional instructors, and comprehensive safety equipment significantly reduce risks for participants. By taking the necessary precautions and choosing reputable operators, tourists can enjoy a worry-free adventure on the beautiful waters of Dubai.
Whether you're jet skiing along the Palm Jumeirah, parasailing over the blue waters of the Arabian Gulf, or exploring marine life while snorkeling, water sports in UAE offer a thrilling escape that combines safety with fun. So, prepare your swimwear and get ready to dive into a world of excitement with Friends Aqua watersports—Dubai's beautiful coastline awaits you!

Wonka (2023) Review
Anyone doubting Chalamet's singing abilities need look no further than his Tiny Horse skit on SNL from 2 years ago. All I'll say is you're welcome!
Plot: With dreams of opening a shop in a city renowned for its chocolate, a young and poor Willy Wonka discovers that the industry is run by a cartel of greedy chocolatiers.
Everyone scratched their heads upon the announcement that young Hollywood heartthrob Timothee Chalament was cast as the famous Roald Dahl chocolatier. Then when the trailer was released it did not instill much confidence either. Something was jarring about witnessing the usually brooding and stoic Dune/Call Me by Your Name actor acting quirky and silly. Comparisons to Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp were of course inevitable as this is the third attempt at adapting Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory children's book, so would Chalamet simply be attempting to portray a cheap knock-off of his predecessors, and what if Timmy simply lacks the Whimsy to play the silly little guy?
Turns out we had nothing to worry about, especially as we seem to have all forgotten that Wonka's directed by Paul King. You know, the guy behind those sweet Paddington films. Those movies are simply the most delightful and innocently sweet little things, featuring universal themes of kindness and embracing new things, featuring genuine laughs, moments that could make you cry, and an overall homage to recent and classic films. Less one forgets that Paddington 2 also holds the endorsement of no other than Nicolas Cage within The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent which goes out of its way to name-drop Paddington 2 and turns it into a running gag that helps members of the cast bond. With Wonka Paul King's magic feels right at home, as he delivers a warm old-fashioned musical extravaganza, that has the innocence and silliness of the Paddington films, mixed with the darker undertones from the Roald Dahl's classic.
Speaking of the musical aspect, the songs in this film are actually really lovely. Naturally, you have the returning remixes of 'Oompa Loompa' and 'Pure Imagination', but the new tracks are truly delightful, with Timothee Chalamet's singing on point, and the melodies very old-school, basking in their simplicity yet accompanying the capriciousness of the movie perfectly. The production design is great, with lots of colours that pop that should provide enough visual candy for the kids going to the movies this holiday season. The costumes also stood out, and I loved how Wonka's suit was an amalgamation of Wilder's and Depp's outfits. What shocks me is that the costume designer here Limmy Hemming is the same one behind Nolan's The Dark Knight. Such different looks, but then again if you change Willy's jacket from red to purple there are similarities to the Joker outfit...
In regards to Chalamet's Wonka - he's solid. Would a different actor maybe have been a better choice? Probably, however, Timothee manages to deliver a high level of quirk through his enunciation and movements, with his Wonka innocent to a fault, and morally pure. The supporting cast is full of comedians who take turns stealing scenes. Hugh Grant's Oompa Loompa is an uncanny highlight that takes a while to appear and is absolutely worth the wait. Paterson Joseph excels at playing a full-on pantomime villain complimented by Matt Lucas and Matthew Baynton to make for a delightfully evil trio. An entertaining pairing of Olivia Colman and Tom Davis results for an awkward yet at times hilarious double-act, and amusing yet under-used turns from Keegan Michael-Key and Rowan Atkinson leave you wanting more.
Wonka is an easily digestible and polished family movie for the holiday season that is a rare example of a prequel that justifies its existence. I would say that the comedy doesn't always land and felt as if Paul King and the team were held a bit back with how absurd they were willing to go. I don't know, it feels like putting Mr. Bean and a runaway giraffe together in a church could have led to wilder results than what we are ultimately given. Maybe it's remembering Tim Burton's brand of humour that felt more satirical than this fairly tame Wonka. I'm aware many audiences have mixed opinions on the Tim Burton Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, however myself and my fiancee watched it a few months back and found it to be absolutely hilarious! Also, Christopher Lee as a despicable angry dentist who hates chocolate was just *chef's kiss*. As for Wonka? Well, everyone needs a little willy in their life... I'm of course talking about the movie and nothing else!
Overall score: 7/10

7 Critical Home Remodeling Mistakes to Avoid for a Successful Project
Embarking on a home renovation project can be a challenging endeavor, often taking months and demanding substantial time, energy, and financial resources. Remodeling your kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom can lead to inconveniences, but avoiding common mistakes can mitigate potential setbacks. In Las Vegas, reliable remodeling companies make the process smoother within budget constraints.
Here are seven prevalent home remodeling mistakes and how to sidestep them:
Setting a Realistic Budget:
Many homeowners underestimate costs by 20-30%. Prepare for unforeseen expenses by having extra funds on hand. Research the budget details on the contractor's website to align expectations.
Premature Furniture and Decor Purchases:
Rushing to buy furnishings can lead to ill-fitting items. Timing matters; consider shopping around November and December for deals. Invest in quality products during negotiations with contractors to ensure durability.
Hasty Company Selection:
Research potential remodeling companies thoroughly. Check online reviews, ask questions, and negotiate during less busy seasons, like winter, to secure favorable terms. The right company and project combination can result in significant cost savings.
Neglecting Lighting Issues:
Adequate lighting is crucial for a vibrant home. Choose between natural light and artificial accessories, ensuring window coverings can handle seasonal changes. Seek professional advice for creative and budget-friendly lighting solutions.
Excessive Trend-Focus:
Experimenting with trends is fine, but excessive trendy choices can lead to cost overruns and a chaotic design. Consult professionals to balance trends within your budget and home design for a cohesive look.
Rushing the Design Process:
Impatience during the design phase can compromise the final result. Home remodeling is a time-consuming process; take accurate measurements, set realistic timelines, and keep detailed records of material and labor estimates.
Choosing the Wrong Paint:
Paint selection is crucial for the overall aesthetic. Be mindful of paint types suitable for different surfaces, such as semi-gloss or gloss paints for high-moisture areas like bathrooms and kitchens.
In conclusion, a well-informed approach, avoiding last-minute changes, and gaining basic remodeling knowledge contribute to a successful home renovation.
