jjk ending rambling (with spoilers ofc) below :'D
Kinda word vomit everywhere lol
I liked the ending! Granted it's not as drawn out or thorough as most of us probably wanted it but that wouldn't be in character for gege lmao
With his writing he's really good at foreshadowing and red herrings. He'll only give us the bare minimum to understand a character or concept and not expound on that which I personally don't mind. i.e. mahito's questioning of is the soul the body or the body the soul? And Kenjaku's response after Geto's body briefly goes against him.
ALSO. Sukuna's ending was actually so well written? His parallel to Gojo as the strongest and choosing to go north vs gojo's south. Then we see the person important to Sukuna (Uraume) and how they chose to become someone new (thanks to yuji's chat w him). Similarly Gojo and company choosing to go south, returning to who they once were because THAT WAS THEIR BLUE SPRING AND WHEN THEY WERE THEIR HAPPIEST.
Jjk truly is a story about love. While it's more evident in volume 0, we can still see it throughout the main series and with Sukuna.
It's that whole conversation about satisfaction and love. To sukuna and gojo the ones who taught them about love and the people they loved were Yuji and Uraume (sukuna) and Geto (gojo duh). Then we see them understand satisfaction and what that means as the strongest.
Sukuna's "nothing will satisfy me" mindset finally shifting to the person who has been there and who he has protected. Then ultimately choosing to go north with them, leaving that past behind.
Gojo's "if you were there, then maybe I'd be satisfied". That's why he chose to go south. To go back to who he once was, the strongest together with his best friend. Geto ultimately did the same. He could've chosen to go north maybe to live a different life not so haunted by the politics of jujutsu society, but he also chose to go south.
I think this is what all the gojo dick riders forget; Gojo's dream was to teach the next gen what it means to be strong and to continue without having to rely on the strongest. Bc look what happened to him and geto. Burdened with being the strongest, having to protect with all of jujutsu society's eyes on you. Geto defected to kill the weak so there would be no need for the strongest. Gojo went to teaching to show the new gen true strength within themselves and protecting their comrades (the very thing he couldn't do).
And Gojo accomplished that dream! Yuji, Yuta, Maki, even Hakari, amazingly strong in their own right and they were strong enough to protect the people around them.
Then we got the direct comparison of sukuna's finger at the end to the first chapter. Unprotected, harmless, showing that the strongest curse is indeed love.
I definitely need to reread the series but the ending was fitting. There's enough unexplored story to get a spin-off series or even a part 2 but I think this was a satisfying ending. For a series that wasn't even supposed to happen, I think gege did a p damn good job.
This has 0 cohesion but I just needed to get everything out lol.
Oh actually my one gripe is Geto's body still being out and about 😭 great that takaba and kenjaku got their comedy duo thing going BUT LET MY BOY'S BODY REST GOD DAMN. But I kinda like how it parallels with the image of stsg in their suits. If the soul is the body and vice versa, then it's like Geto is showing that he still desires that partnership and closeness that he and Gojo had.
OKAY NOW IM DONE LMAO
Pls share ur thots too if you'd like :))

tbh , my thing with satosugu is that i don't even need to ship it. why? because they're already official. they're one of those couples that are so obvious that no one even needs to be convinced... like when gojo sniffed the damn room to sense geto’s curse i knew what gege wanted to tell us 😭 i don’t even care about platonic or romantic atp, nobody can argue that they weren’t soulmates and had a deep connection. from any pov their story is devastatingly beautiful 😣😣

Ppl who unironically believe gege hates gojo baffle me because???? That's their character??? That's literally one of the characters they've put the most time into thinking about??? We know so much random shit about gojo bc gege keeps doing interviews about him???? Gege gave gojo his own custom infinity halo and everyone else gets the boring normal halo???????? Have y'all ever had a really good oc??? The best ocs get put into the fuckin WORST situations bc that one's interesting enough to make the situation worth it

also mannnnn the satosugu parallels of it all. even though they went about it differently at the end of the day the system was still something they both wanted to change. geto fought against gojo and the other sorcerers as an outsider while gojo tried to change things from the inside but at the end of the day they ended up the same. dead with no peace no rest and their fucking corpses being used as weapons. killed by the world they wanted to reform. different paths leading to the same destination.

are you even soulmates if he doesn’t spend his entire life just thinking about you and missing you and was never canonicallly happy after you break up and you both die and people use your body to win a war

JJK/Gege Akutami appreciation post
Yeah, you read that title right. I get it that the entire fandom is upset with the latest leaks but I've seen so many angry/hateful comments toward Gege and it's making me sad. So here's a post to highlight some things I like about JJK. :)
This is in no way a complete list, so feel free to add on with your own takes too! Also, it's a long post, so I'm putting the meat of it under the cut.
The characters & their dynamics
Jjk has a huge cast, and yet every character is so unique and compelling. The reason I got into this anime (and later the manga) despite not really being into anime in general was how charming the main four characters were. Yuuji, Nobara, Megumi and Gojo immediately hooked me; I could probably watch 10 seasons of a slice of life show that's just them getting into shenanigans.
Fun interactions aside, my favourite thing about the characterisation is how everyone in this manga is allowed to have their own view on the world, especially on what it means to live a good life and die a good death. The narrative allows those views to clash without preaching about who is "correct". Characters disagree and learn from each other and their views develop organically (not necessarily in a positive direction, but always dynamically in a response to the situations they find themselves in - Yuuji's arc on how he views himself and his goals comes to mind). That stuff is really hard to write.
And it's not just the main cast either. The supporting characters are very memorable too; even minor ones have distinct personalities and clear motivations and often a backstory to explain why they are the way they are. My personal favourite background characters are Mai, Noritoshi and Tsumiki.
The worldbuilding
Can we talk about how creative the concept of curses and cursed energy is? Negative emotions accumulating into physical manifestations of things that people fear, hate, etc. is a hell of a cool idea. This is why the curse villains are my favourites in the series: from Mahito as a representation of the worst of humanity in his childish glee and sadism and cowardice to Jogo's philosophy of curses as "true beings" because they don't hide their nature and Hanami's almost sympathetic care for nature are all interesting explorations of how we view the world around us that would not be possible in a different kind of magic system. Add to that the array of creative techniques that sorcerers possess, the cursed objects, and the grade system that conveniently allows us to keep track of the danger levels of all this - you get an impressively complex magic system that still remains understandable (and fun to watch even if you don't want to keep track of the nitty-gritty and are just here for the spectacle).
Not to mention that jujutsu society is, well, a society. We get a sense of who the powerful and the oppressed are in this community, how their powers factor into that, how different characters feel about this, what they are doing to change it or on the contrary, to keep the traditions going... Every character exists in the web of a clear power structure which they interact with, influencing it and being influenced in turn. This results in a super interesting dynamic where certain characters can be enemies one moment (for example when the Kyoto students try to kill Yuuji during the exchange event on Gakuganji's, and by extension the higher-ups' orders) and allies the next (when it's time to pull together against a curse).
I'm reserving my judgement on the plot, themes and overall character arcs for now, because those things can only be really analysed once the story is complete. But even if I'll be unhappy with the ending, I'll still be very grateful for this unique world and its loveable inhabitants.
Of course, you might disagree with me on all this, and that's fine. Dropping the manga because you don't like the direction the story took is fine. Choosing to live in fanfiction delulu land is also fine. Gritting your teeth and sticking it out till the end despite disliking the plot because you're too invested to quit is also fine. Criticism and jokes are fine. The one thing that isn't fine is hating on the creator for the way they are choosing to tell their story.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
Tl;dr: If you're upset about the direction JJK is taking, please try to remember why you cared so much about it in the first place. And remember that Gege is just a person sharing a story with us, and disliking someone's story is not an acceptable reason to hate on them.

I fucking hate it here…
Ok… I’m done. The last 24 hours have been straight awful. (Personal reasons) Not to mention Gege Akutami is now on my shit list of writers along with M. Knight Shamalan because what in the fresh fuck is he doing! It’s like he’s killing character out of spite. Like he doesn’t want to write anymore. I’m done with JJK for a while. I’m positive that Everyone is just gonna die. Someone tell me how this shit show ends.

You are my Special
[⚠️ Mega Spoilers for Shibuya Arc of Jujutsu Kaisen btw]
My favorite inside joke at the moment ever since Mahito crushed my will to live has been talking or writing something about Nobara Kugisaki and then ending it with like “you know, when she returns-“ or “when she finally comes back-“ but instead of finishing that thought, I just put *I am cleaved to death* at the very end because goddammit Gege is never gonna fucking bring her back
He probably even forgot he created her
