10. tell me about TexAid in Transmissions from Cybertron. I know you ship them like fedex, I'm not asking why you write TexAid, but what are they doing there, other than making out and providing us loads of comic relief, that I deeply appreciate :)
Alright, so this is actually a major element of the plot LMFAO. First Aid fucking Vortex is the literal mechanism by which the entire plot happened.
In order to get the Combaticons onto a planet that only the Autobots know about, I had to have two things happen. I had to have someone who was poking around in classified Autobot files, and I had to have that person also be someone who would tell the Combaticons about it.
So, no Soundwave; no non-naive-AF Autobots; most other members of spec-ops are also banned; if Vortex came up with it during interrogation in the base it would've been logged and I don't think that that would've worked for the fic, and anyway why would he believe that it would actually be useful in that situation; and most of the Autobots who might've been dumb enough to be convinced don't have classified clearance anyway. First Aid is like basically the only option if I wanted it to come from an Autobot.
Secondly, I wanted the Autobots to show up to cause a diplomatic incident, because I need Torianyx NOT to become an Autobot or Decepticon superweapon and if the Decepticons were the only ones on there they'd have just been like 'yeah come back to the nemesis with us' eventually and then that would've ended badly. So I did need an Autobot to get wise eventually. It made more sense to also have it be an Autobot to send them there in the first place because otherwise why wouldn't the bots just like. nuke them from orbit the second they got on the surface of the planet lmfao
So it had to be an Autobot who liked them. First Aid is also basically the only option.
Third i like TexAid and you can't stop me from doing what I want :P BUT for the structure of the fic as it stands, as soon as I decided what the Combaticons were there for and who knew about this place, I knew that it wasn't actually optional for me to put TexAid in. There was really only one reasonable way for them to have gotten this information in secret and acted on it the way they did.
I'm pretty sure it's explicit in the fic that First Aid was the one who told them about Torianyx and then was like "don't go there though" and then they did. so even within the text of the fic, the reason for texaid showing up in there is "so that the narrative makes sense and the way everything happened has a logical past element" lol

Castiel comes to Sam for advice about his crush on Dean but he obfuscates who he's talking about successfully because Sam doesn't know just how much he and Dean hang out without him.
Dean, obliquely trying to come out to Sam during a conversation about settling down: besides who would even want to date me long term. Cas is the closest thing I've had to a girlfriend in years.
Sam, casual and oblivious: I think Cas has a boyfriend.
Dean:...What????
Sam: yeah he told me about him. He's like a drummer or something, travels cross country a lot. I thought you knew? It's pretty serious, they've been together like 8 years I think?
Dean, seething with jealousy and horror: What's he like? Have you met him? What the fuck??
Sam, delighted to have more info on Cas than Dean does for once: Cas really didn't tell you? Well I guess that makes sense. I've always thought he and I share a more profound bond.
Dean: Sam.
Sam: Okay, okay. I haven't met him but from what Cas says, he's like, a real dork. Won't let anyone touch his CD collection, always brings up movie references no one has ever heard of- although it is Cas, who knows what his scale of normal movies is. He's good with kids, apparently.
Dean: sounds annoying.
Sam: ha! That's funny. I said he sounded like you, and Cas gave me a death stare. Yeah just like that one.
Dean: what does Cas want with a normie guy like that? And why didn't he tell me? There's gotta be something going on with this dude. This whole thing stinks. And - wait. Hold the phone. Cas is gay????
Sam: dude, you've met Cas, right?
Dean: shut up!!!! Keep talking. Where can I find this sonofabitch and how can we find out his intentions
Sam: well according to Cas he intends to be [cas impression] 'adorable and infuriating at the same time and succeeds on both counts'. Cas seems pretty happy with the guy, I think we should just be happy for him.
Dean, heartbroken and hiding it gruffly: yeah. I'm fucking ecststic.

[THIS POST IS NOT MEDICAL ADVICE. TALK TO A PSYCHIATRIST.]
if you have treatment-resistant depression and you've been on every SSRI and SNRI available, you tried abilify and seroquel and rexulti, you tried TMS and ketamine and basically every single option short of ECT, or maybe you did try ECT and that didn't help either, you've done inpatient and partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient and none of it did shit: you want to try Auvelity.
i can't guarantee it'll work, obviously, but that was my exact situation for over six years and Auvelity literally Saved Me. in two months my PHQ-9 went from 21 to 3. it went on the market in 2022 so your doctor may not know about it yet. if you have insurance, there's a discount card that brings it down to $10 a month. (if you don't have insurance you're probably out of luck, because america is an evil country, and i'm sorry. maybe ask if your psychiatrist can get a regular supply of samples. if you can scrape together enough to pay the premium each month, it might be worth getting a marketplace plan and just using it for this.)
what it is, bizarrely, is dextromethorphan plus buproprion, and apparently the buproprion is NOT the key ingredient, it's just there to potentiate the dextromethorphan. which, yes, is cough syrup. i have no idea how it works but it does. also if you've tried buproprion (wellbutrin) before and it didn't work, don't worry, i did too. the cough syrup is where the magic is.
for me there have been zero side effects. i can read books again, i can watch a full episode of tv without needing a buddy to keep me focused, i don't get high every day and stare at youtube for hours. i'm not even passively suicidal anymore. i like sex again. i enjoy exercise now, because i actually get the endorphins my body was refusing to produce for years. if you are also in depression hell and you've been there forever and nothing has made any real difference: this might.
(and feel free to show your doctor this post if the prospect of starting the conversation is overwhelming! i have Been There.)

He stole a few cards from Kremy ( •̀ .̫ •́ )✧
This all started with a google search of memes, then I came across save a horse ride a cowboy, which I learned is a SONG, that I then listened to, and my brain went "heh, Gideon and Kremy vibes- WAIT A DAMN SECOND." and thus...
✨this✨
plus a live reaction from Mr. Lecroux himself... ironically of course

06 not realizing they’re injured
unhealthy coping mechanisms/healed wrong/"it's not my blood"
------
After the last of his little brothers dies, Tobirama learns to always sense Hashirama's chakra. It's a drain on his own resources, if a trickle of one- but he starts when he's nine years old, and a trickle is a dangerous amount.
He does it anyways, and his abilities adjust around it. The relief of always knowing where Hashirama is has a massive impact on his ability to actually sleep at night. When he's twelve, he pushes himself so he can track Toka's chakra as well. Learning to divide his attention- between his brother, his cousin, and whatever task is at hand- is not easy. He gets migraines, makes mistakes. In the end he manages, and from there it's only natural to expand.
He can't manage all the Senju, but he can keep an eye out for the children. For the one civilian who reminds him of his mother, for his brother and his cousin.
And eventually, for Izuna.
That's from a different kind of paranoia. If he knows where Izuna is, it halves the threat he presents. He might not be able to keep an eye on all the Senju, but at least he knows where one of the greatest threats against them always is. He keeps a closer watch on Izuna's chakra than he does anyone but Hashirama's.
(It's easy to follow. It's distinct from the Senju, burning hot and crackling with energy, less like a fire and more like a lightning bolt. If he turns his full attention to it, which he rarely if ever does, it sends a shivering zap through his own system like static shock leaping between fingertips.)
Perhaps it was a mistake. Lumping Izuna in with his loved ones. Or perhaps the mistake was relying on the sensation of the man's chakra in the winter months, a warm fire banked compared to his own frigid nature. Perhaps allowing himself to cling to anyone's chakra at all, even Hashirama's, was the real mistake.
Regardless- he snaps into action when he wakes up to the sensation of someone's chakra sputtering out, using the Hiraishin to travel the distance- three jumps more than he's ever done before, a strain on his body that distracts him as much as the frantic feeling of chakra flaring and struggling as it's tamped back down that drives him on.
He saves Izuna. It's only after he's done it that he realizes his mistake, and by then it's too late.

It’s interesting bringing up the sperm donor storyline in the middle of the Buckley / Han parents arguing about what makes a real parent. Donor not dad, of course. But absentee parents (the Buckleys, Chim’s dad) vs dedicated parental figures (Maddie and the Lees) as well. Biology vs Love and which actually makes a family.
While we also have Buck and Bobby loudly being father and son-- the cooking, the handmedown recipe, the secret ingredient, and then Bobby protectively cradling Buck’s lifeless body at the end.
And Buck - Chim - Hen - Eddie discussing Actual Family when they are clearly bonded as a Family with their games and chores (and four way calls in 6x09)
Something something family is not biology, your family is people who love you anyway and care for you regardless. You don’t find it (aren’t given it) you make it.
