➛ IF THE ATWOW CHARACTERS HAD TUMBLR
featuring! tsireya, lo’ak, neteyam, kiri, ao’nung, rotxo!
just for fun. i couldn’t decide if i wanted to make this a human au, or keep them na’vi… so it’s a mix of both!
TSIREYA - @reefprincessreya 𓇼
she has the most beautiful, aesthetically-pleasing layout you’ll ever see.
username: “reef” because she loves the sea (duh), and “princess” because it’s really pretty + feminine, and she literally is a reef princess after all. finally, her cute nickname “reya”, where the alliteration makes her url extra catchy !
her bio would totally have some beautiful quote.. like, “the way of water has no beginning and no end.” ;)
tsireya does it alllllll. she has her personal tags that she puts on every post to keep organized, and she’ll spend hours on her new themes.
╭ @reefprincessreya
┆sooo happy! our brothers and sisters have
┆returned today, and i finally saw my spirit sister
┆again! she is healthy and well <3
╰ #reya’s life ˚୨୧⋆。
unlike the rest, who prefer the more private feel of their blog, tsireya shared hers with all her friends who all consistently use tumblr together!
LO'AK - @yooooitsloak
username: he just typed in the first thing that came to mind.
lo’ak literally made a tumblr account just because of tsireya.
it’s almost a ghost blog, but he at least took the time to add a pfp (which is a photo of his fav pair of sneakers).
lo’ak likes every single one of tsireya’s posts. even if there’s only 1 note; it’s lo’ak.
(we love a supportive boyfriend)
NETEYAM - @burntouteclipse ✰
neteyam is the ultimate aesthetic, educated and sophisticated king for liking tumblr by himself ✊🏻 (no shade to lolo though). like ‘reya, he also has a clean, aesthetically-pleasing layout, but it’s more masculine.
username: just sounds cool, y’know? he also works his ass off and is “burnt out” after all (perfection and golden-childism ain’t easy), and eclipse is just a time of day neteyam really enjoys where he gets to relax and spend time for himself.
neteyam doesn’t complain much in real life, or let out a lot of his feelings. tumblr is like his peaceful, personal, private corner where he can speak his mind, which he really appreciates.
i can see him reblogging and following fashion accounts that he likes, as well as occasionally posting a little ramble. ‘teyam’s page is scattered with some little thoughts and feelings here and there between reblogs of cool streetwear clothing and artistic photos/photography (for human neteyam).
you’ll see him and tsireya interact with each other on occasion!
╭ @burntouteclipse
┆ accidentally hit my knee earlier today,
╰ and now i can barely run properly. shit
⠀ ╭ @reefprincessreya
⠀ ┆ oh no! i’m sorry to hear. hope you
⠀ ╰ ➤ will feel better soon, ma ‘eylan! ♥︎
⠀ ╭ @burntouteclipse ☆ Original Poster
⠀ ╰ ➤ thank you tsireya
if there’s a girl he likes, neteyam’ll try and see if she has a tumblr. he’ll eventually find it, and enjoys scrolling through her posts + loves reading her little rambles. but he does it from a distance, and doesn’t interact (you’d never know. he’s the epitome of secret admirer). . .
KIRI - @atokirina333 ❀
username: kiri’s a spiritual gal, what can i say? not to mention, she was named after the atokirina, so it’s perfect. there’s also angel numbers!! ofc!!! ps: this url was taken at first, but she tracked down the person and convinced them to give it to her. somehow.
unlike neteyam who writes ‘n posts small things sometimes… kiri can rant here. don’t get me wrong, she’s not posting paragraphs, but she definitely lets loose when she wants to.
human kiri posts her plants, her crystals, her music vinyls, the desserts she likes baking, her books and posters, literally anything and everything you’d find in her room because it’s all pretty.
what else would you see on her page? poetry. reblogs of quotes and aesthetic photos, and especially pretty photos of nature (kiri and ‘reya’s tumblrs are similar in this sense)!
she and tsireya reblog each other very often!
AO'NUNG
"what's tumblr?"
ROTXO - @justrotxo
username: he’s just rotxo! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ though when he first joined, his @ was originally “reefboyrotxo”, but he (jokingly) got called out for copying tsireya, so he changed it.
hm, tbh, i don’t really see him as an avid tumblr user!
i have a headcanon that human rotxo'd be a surfer though, so i feel like he’d probably have 1-2 posts of a beautiful sunset + his surfboard, and like one post of a random thought he had. that’s it. his theme would also be blue/teal.
i feel like he would’ve gotten tumblr because of his friends, and goes on just to see all of their posts.
he interacts with/likes the posts of everyone in his circle! :)
. . .
AO'NUNG (continued)
“what’s tumblr?”
it’s a social media app. your sister likes using it.
“oh, ok. whatever.”
neteyam sully uses it too. oh, and his brother lo’ak.
ao’nung is already intrigued at neteyam, but when he hears lo’ak is on there? oh boy.
he immediately signs up, and then gets all of his friends to as well.
soon, lo’ak is flabbergasted at the sudden flood of random anonymous troll asks he receives on his empty blog.
ao’nung was going to anonymously send something to ‘teyam as well (obviously not to lo’ak’s extent), but after finding and looking through it… he actually secretly likes neteyam’s blog.
after everyone find out it’s him, he still eventually just keeps his tumblr to continue messing with the sullys, and his sister. popping in with a “DELETE THIS 🔥🔥🔥” to show he’s indeed still there, once every few eclipses.
╭ @reefprincessreya
╰ ➤ ao’nung. rä’ä.
the end!
╭ @pureforestspirits
┆heyy! thanks so much for reading <3
┆fun fact: i started writing this in my notes
┆app one day at like 4am. the sleep
┆deprivation was worth it, i think.
┆it was really fun to make LMAO
┆
┆all interactions are muuuch appreciated,
┆since i’m still pretty new to posting. thank u!

Not orv related but kinda new to Tumblr so like what is the behaviour 101 on Tumblr , can I get a few tips , i desperately wanna interact but idk
Okay, I knew I would get something like this. You're already doing pretty well, in that you have a profile pic and have figured out the ask function, so good job.
Orphiclovers’ guide to Tumblr 101:
1.The number one crucial step that EVERYONE should do, even if you don’t care about the rest. CHANGE YOUR PROFILE PIC to ANYTHING that's not the default one (Though not your face. We don’t generally do that here.) The reason to do this is because it’s almost impossible to tell apart a just created blog from a porn bot. If you haven’t encountered one yet, you will. They're a big thing on tumblr, a completely blank blog created by a bot (sometimes with an attractive woman as the profile pic) that follows you and and sends you ‘hot singles in your area’ type scam messages. If you get one, don’t click any links! Under the message there will be a prompt saying ‘mark this as spam?’ click that and tumblr will automatically report and block the blog. Some people with huge bot infestations automatically block any blank blog to be safe, and you don’t want that accidentally happening to you, so CHANGE YOUR PROFILE PIC!
2. The other essential blog customization thing is go to Blog Settings>turn off ‘share posts you like’ and ‘share the tumblrs you’re following’. This will hide your likes and the people you follow from every other user. Basically everyone turns this off to have privacy. Otherwise noisy fucks like me can come to your blog and look at all that.
3. You ALSO need to go to Settings>Dashboard>scroll to Prefrences> disable ‘Best Stuff First.’ Having your dashboard (that’s what we call the “Following” tab on Home where you see all the posts) be in chronological order is objectively the best way to be on Tumblr. This is the one social media that doesn’t shove the algorithm down your throat, enjoy it to the fullest. I have never in my life clicked on the ‘Explore’ tab except by accident, and the ‘For You’ tab is also controversial. I don’t recommend it. You can learn to use tumblr with no algorithms and you will feel better.
4. Okay, but there’s like two posts on my dashboard, what do I do? You need to follow people, friend. Go to the search bar and enter a tag for a fandom or character you like. That’s ‘#kim dokja’ or ‘#honkai star rail’ - unlike instagram, you can put spaces between words. It’s not case sensitive, so #Kim Dokja #kim dokja and #KIM DOKJA is all the same to tumblr. I recommend going in tags and not just ‘kim dokja’ because tumblr’s search system is often wonky.
5. Now, scroll through the posts and follow the blogs. That’s it. Now their new posts will show up at the top of your dashboard. Currently, I follow 119 blogs and that’s a pretty decent number. I get new posts every couple of minutes, and if there are no new posts I exit the app. No endless doomscrolling. Also, all the people I follow actually post stuff I want to see.
6. You mentioned wanting to make friends and that brings me to my next tip: Reblog. Reblog, reblog, reblog. Every post you want to click ‘like’ on you should reblog instead. Everytime you want to comment you should reblog instead (and put the comment in the tags).
7. This will put their post on your blog. Most of the posts you see on your dashboard are posts the people you follow have reblogged. It’s hard to wrap your head around, but it’s essential tumblr stuff so I will try to explain it in detail.
Reblogging etiquette
8. Blank reblogs are fine.
9. If you want to say something like ‘good art!!’ or ‘wow I love this theory so much’ put that in the tags of your reblog. The original poster will see the tags you have added, and also anyone who follows you will see the post + your tags. But if they reblog a post from you, your tags don’t come with unless they decide to manually copy them (which people don’t usually do unless they want to respond to something you said in the tags. Then they will copy the tags and put <- prev as in ‘previous’ and respond to them. This is like a whispered conversation you have on op’s post but they will still be able to see all of it so be mindful.) Some people also use the tag system to organize their blogs.
For example, if you reblog art of kim dokja, in the tags you can put ‘#wowowow I’m drooling thank you op, #kim dokja, #orv, #orv fanart’. Theoretically now when you or anyone else goes to your blog’s search function can search #orv fanart and see all the original posts you have made and the stuff you have reblogged with the tag #orv fanart.
Now I will address some common concerns people have before reblogging. “Am I reblogging too many posts in a row??? Won’t the people who follow me get annoyed???” No, they will not 99% of the time. And if they do, they can unfollow you. But okay, if you’re worried about this you can put your reblogs in a queue. Here’s how tumblr themselves describe it: ‘The queue lets you stagger posts over a period of hours or days. It's an easy way to keep your blog active and consistent.’ Basically if you tell it to it will automatically post the stuff you can put in the queue every hour or 15 minutes or whatever you want the interval to be. Check it out.
“Won’t reblogging posts bury my own posts and prevent them from being seen???” No. All the posts you reblog are probably long buried in the OP’s blog too. But as long as they get passed around in reblogs they will get new eyes on them, forever. Also, you can reblog your own posts if you want them put on your followers dash again (usually tagging this as #srb or #self reblog). They will also still be in the tags you put on them originally. Myself, I tag all my posts as #my posts or #my art so anyone visiting my blog can easily check for those specifically (though I don’t know if anyone does…lol. Lmk.)
“Okay, but I have so many different interests, won’t people hate seeing random reblogged posts about stuff they’re not interested in?” They can deal or unfollow you. But okay, some people create ‘sideblogs’ for every fandom they’re in. This functions as almost a fully fledged seperate blog. For example, you can’t easily tell if a blog you follow is a main one or a sideblog, or what their main blog is (unless they tell you). You only can’t like or follow or send an ask from a sideblog.
In general you don’t add stuff to the text part of a reblog unless you have something significant to add and/or are mutuals with the OP. Mutuals is when you both follow each other. I’m guessing you’re asking me how to get people to follow you back and to that I say idk man. Make posts and talk to them in reblogs and it will naturally happen.
Also, asks are fun, send people asks (and enable them in setting on your own blog.)
10. Also, give your blog a description and a title. It’s just nice customization. The title can be a quote you like and the description anything you want to tell someone about yourself. Look at how other blogs do it. I think nickname/pronouns/list of fandoms is pretty standard.
Let me know if you want to ask anything else :)

It's come to my attention that Tumblr's Tag and Post Content Filtering information page is not accessible from the Tumblr app. It just takes you to the help blog. Which is...odd, to say the least. So I made a version you should be able to view from the app!
It's a little long, so I am putting it under a read more, but let me know if anyone can't access it.
Tag and Post Content Filtering
If there is content or a topic you don't want to see, you can filter it from your dashboard and feeds. There are two filtering options on Tumblr: Filter by tags and filter by post content. Regardless of which option you choose, filtered posts will have an overlay obscuring the post itself with an explanation of why the post was filtered and the option to view the post.
It's also worth noting that filtering isn't applied to ads, sponsored posts, asks or submissions in your inbox, posts sent via messaging, or your own posts.
Tag Filtering
Tag filtering hides posts with certain #tags from your dashboard and in search.
On the Web:
Click Settings on the left hand side.
Scroll down to the "Content you see" section and click the pencil icon to the right of "Filtered Tags."
Type the tag you'd like to filter, then click "Add."
To remove a filter, click the "Remove" button.
In the Apps:
Tap the account icon .
Tap the gear icon at the top right, then tap "General settings" (iOS) or "Account settings" (Android).
Tap "Filtering."
Tap "+New" to the right of "Filtered Tags" to add tags to the list.
To remove a filter while using the iOS app, swipe left on that item, then tap "Delete." In the Android app, tap the filter you'd like to remove, then tap "Remove."
Keep in mind that this feature is only as good as the tags on a post allow it to be. It can only filter out posts with the exact tag you've filtered.
Post Content Filtering
Post content filtering searches the entire post for instances of your filtered word or phrase, not just the tags.
On the Web:
Click Settings on the left hand side.
Scroll down to the "Content you see" section and click the pencil icon to the right of "Filtered Post Content."
Type the word or phrase you'd like to filter, then click "Add." Keep in mind that you're limited to 200 filters and each filtered word or phrase has to be under 250 characters.
To remove a filter, click the "Remove" button.
In the Apps:
Tap the account icon.
Tap the gear icon at the top right, then tap "General settings" (iOS) or "Account settings" (Android).
Scroll down and tap "Filtering."
Tap the +New icon to add a new filter.
Type the word or phrase you want to filter, then tap "Add."
To remove a filter while using the iOS app, swipe left on that item, then tap "Delete." In the Android app, tap the filter you'd like to remove, then tap "Remove."
Community Labels
You cannot filter posts with community labels, as these already come filtered by the original poster. If you want to add your own community label to one of your posts please read this article. If you want to suggest a label or report a post/blog please check this article.
Viewing Filtered Posts
You can reveal a filtered post anytime by clicking on "View post:"
Some Things to Keep in Mind:
Content filtering is not case sensitive, so adding a term like "horse" will filter out "HORSE" "Horse" and "hOrSe" in the same way.
The filter also works on terms which include the word, like "horses" and "horseman."
Adding a phrase like "horse friend," will filter out occurrences of that entire, exact phrase.
The content filter includes all the text within a post, including the blog name and blog names within the reblog trail.
Text contained inside an image in a post cannot be filtered.
Posts will only be filtered on your Tumblr dashboard. Posts will not be filtered on the blog network (when you're viewing the post at a URL that looks like this: example.tumblr.com).

do you have any advice/tips for posting art on tumblr for the first time?
I’m not new from twitter, I just don’t wanna fuck up somehow
really the two keys to posting art is 1. knowing how to use tags, and 2. having a dedicated art blog
tumblr only tracks the first 20 tags on a post, everything after that is Just For Funsies. tracked tags will show up in search, both for the whole website and on your blog.
if you're not sure what tags to use, see what other popular posters are using! i think i mentioned this in my tumblr guide post, but generally you want to tag fandom, characters, ships (if applicable), and any AUs or similar things. oh, and content warnings if those apply, too. then if you want you can try stuff like mediums and other general tags, that'd be your #art, #illustration, #fanart, #fanfic, #digital art, #(program you used), etc etc. you don't really have to use those, but if you want to keep your blog Super Extra Organized or if you're posting original content with no fandom tags to lean on then they are good options. (you can use things like #ocs, #original characters, #character design, #concept art, and genre tags for those!)
really tagging comes down to: if i wanted to find content like this post, what tags would I look in?
You want to have a dedicated art blog so you can keep your art front and center, if people have to dig to see your art or you post a lot of content they aren't familiar with aside from your art, they are less likely to stick around or follow you! this goes for all social medias really, not just tumblr. it's okay to make the occasional non-art related post, you don't have to completely separate art and artist here, but if you have an art blog you want it to be 95% things pertaining to your work. I have a main blog where I post everything that isn't my art, but occasionally I will reblog important things here or share other artists work because it's good that artists support each other :D
TL;DR - Get familiar with tumblr's tagging system and what the popular tags are for the types of artwork you want to post, and have a dedicated art blog! 💖
Bonus tip: Not everyone is online at the same time, and many people don't scroll to the bottom of their dashboards to catch up on every post they missed. You can schedule your posts so you post consistently at the same times, and you can schedule a reblog of your post later in the day. I for example will make all relevant art posts at 12PM CST, and I set the post to reblog at 8PM CST. The tumblr userbase is more active in the evenings, so if you don't post around that time it's definitely good to reblog things then!
#tumblr guide#tags#tagging system#ask#anonymous#anon#tumblr tutorial#artists on tumblr#is this helpful?? i hope its helpful#my posts always get really long but when its *me* asking for advice i like when people get really in depth#i don't want to Know what to do i want to Understand it y'know#also a funny thing about having scheduled posts is some people will dedicate it in their heads#a few times people have told me they know what time i post and its just. idk its sweet :)#''7pm its cozy time'' (7pm their local time)#also dont be shy about reblogging something you made thats a few months old or older#if you want to make a post but don't have anything new#this is tumblr its ok to look at old content here#if i don't post for a few days i'll go find something nice that my newest followers probably havent seen#and give it a lil reblog. sometimes we air reruns y'know#anyway thank you for coming to me! i hope your art acquires Notes#and if it doesn't right away that's okay too sometimes it takes time. you'll get there :)

I can’t believe this needs to be said, but it keeps happening, so: if you reblog a post from me and delete the image description, I will block you. I have zero problem if you reblog it from the original poster or literally anyone else just so you don’t have an ID— I don’t understand Why you’d do that, but I don’t actually give a shit what you do with your own blog— but actively making a post less accessible than you found it is super fucked up. If you have any issue whatsoever with my IDs, just reach out to me via ask or messages.
Anyway, important pinned post info: If you haven’t already done so, go to your blog settings (at tumblr.com/blog/[username]/settings), scroll down to the “Visibility” section, and make sure to click the button to opt in to “Prevent third-party sharing”; make sure to do this with each sideblog you have, because this setting is by individual blog and not account-wide. Fuck AI art, and fuck Tumblr for scraping artists’ hard work to use for that shit.
Also, go here to donate to Palestine with just a click of the button.
Below are details about the person behind this blog, since who knows how many people have read my about page (or even have access to it, since apparently a lot of people use the Tumblr app which I’ve heard doesn’t allow you to view custom pages?).
You can call me Sharona (which isn’t my “real” name I use offline, but I’ve been using it since 2011, back when I was 18 going on 19). I’m a white cis woman living on occupied land in southern California. I have a family history of mental illness, though I’m not professionally diagnosed myself. I’m aromantic bisexual (possibly acespec, but I’m not personally interested in looking for microlabels that perfectly fit me).
Pretty much all I do here is reblog things from other people and add image descriptions. I don’t make any of the art you see on this blog and claim no ownership over any of the images. Also, since I’ve been asked in the past: you can just straight up copy and paste my IDs and edit them as you see fit in a reblog of your own if you’d rather have it attached in a separate reblog chain (or add it to the original post if you’re the artist). You can credit me if you want, but I’m literally just describing things others have made, haha.
I don’t have any real “Do Not Interact” list, because, let’s be honest, most people who actually fit the typical DNI criteria just ignore those anyway. I do block people I come across in the wild being bigoted (or just annoying, tbh), and, as stated above, I also block people who reblog anything from me and remove the ID. All that said, if I’ve blocked you and you think I was being a little overzealous with that block button, you can always send an ask or message me (or I guess have a friend do it?) and maybe I’ll see about unblocking you.
I Do Not block people who mass like or reblog my posts! I love waking up and seeing my activity feed filled with one person who’s clearly excited to go through my tags! Also, if you want to add comments to posts you reblog from me or strike a conversation in my inbox or messages, you’re perfectly welcome to! That being said, do not expect me to “follow for follow,” because I get overwhelmed easily if I follow too many people or if someone I am following posts a lot. I have, unfortunately, had too many instances where I’ve needed to unfollow people who were really nice but whose blogs were very emotionally draining for me.
Anyway, if you’ve read all that, here’s my Linktree with other accounts I have. Unfortunately, as much as Tumblr sucks, it’s still the only social media I can even halfway tolerate, so don’t bother trying to reach me on those other accounts.
#you don't have to like this if you read it btw i'm just posting this for my own peace of mind#i don't care if anyone reads my about i just want to make it more accessible for anyone who otherwise couldn't

OH MY LORD
OH MY FUCK
I PERHAPS FUCKED UP
I was just scrolling back through my blog because I was bored on the bus
I don't really pay attention to who I'm reblogging from, just like the original poster and the content
a username looked vaguely familiar
so I clicked on it
AND I THINK IT'S A PERSON I KNOW
IT MUST HAVE COME UP ON MY FOR YOU TAB OG TAGS OR SMTH BUT WHAT ARE THE FUCKING CHANCES OF THAT HAPPENING SO
ONE: IT PROBABLY LOOKS LIKE I'VE ACTIVELY GONE TO THEIR BLOG AND REPOSTED SOMETHING (I remember them telling me the name like at least a year or more ago but my memory is NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO HAVE KEPT THAT INFORMATION READILY AVAILABLE IN MY BRAIN I SMOKE TOO MUCH FOR THAT SHITE)
TWO: IF IT IS THEM AND THEY'VE REALISED IT'S ME THEN THEY NOW KNOW MY TUMBLR
like I don't post my own shit often but idk man it's there
SO IF I'M RIGHT AND IT IS YOU AND YOU SEE THIS PLEASE KNOW IT VERY MUCH WASN'T INTENTIONAL AND I CURRENTLY WOULD LIKE THE EARTH TO SWALLOW ME WHOLE LIKE A SPIDER BEING DIRECTED DOWN THE DRAIN BY THE SHOWER
I don't think I'm gonna sleep at all
LIKE I CAN'T BRING THAT UP I JUST EITHER HAVE TO HOPE EITHER IT WASN'T THEM, THEY DON'T NOTICE, OR THEY DO AND JUST KNOW I'M NOT LIKE THAT BUT ASFHDNJCJEJENNEJCUCJDJDJ I'M GOING TO COMMIT

Note
So on the app, if you go to settings, and the scroll down "content you see" you will have two options. "Filtered tags" and "filtered content posts"
If you add "cookies" to "filtered tags" it only covers up posts tagged that way, by the original poster, or the blog that put it on your dash. And bc of how reblogs work, things get complicated.
For it to work on every version of the post, OP has to tag it.
So lets say you follow blog A, B and C
A makes a post about cookies, and just tags it as "food".
Blog B reblogs it, and tags it "cookies".
Blog C reblogs it, and doesn't tag it at all.
The only one that would get covered up, is Blog B's reblog
But if blog A tagged it as "food" and "cookies"
Blog B reblogged it with tag "cookies"
And blog C reblogged it with no tags at all
All 3 would be covered
There are browser tools like xkit that you can download for desktop or mobile browsers to do extra things like blocking posts entirely, but I haven't had access to those much, so I don't know how they work very well.
But in the app, "filtered content posts" is the tool to get the most complete coverage of a topic.
If you put "cookies" in "filtered content posts" it will not only hide any post that contains the word cookies, but any posts made by blogs with cookies in their username. And sometimes other usernames get caught in the mix too
Depending on what the issue is with any given topic, that may not be ideal.
For example a post about a show you like is made by blog A
Blog B reblogs it and adds a comment. Blog B is clearyourcookiesId10T
Blog C reblogs it. You follow blog C. The "cookies" filter will catch it and it will show up as covered.
Additionally, there is a limit to the "filtered content posts". You can only add 200 in total. "Filtered tags" are unlimited as far as I know.
So your best bet when using "filtered content posts" is adding the username of a blog you don't want to see any of their posts. So like a big blog that you've blocked, or is at least big in the sense that they are popular with the blogs that you follow.
Using them this way can help you not accidentally reblog from someone, bc you missed the username.
I'm sure there is someone who has done this with one time I dreamt as their posts are the ones that most often get the response of "I forgot to read the username" to understand the context of the post.
hi. a blog i follow has been talking like theres blog specific filtering? like, you can block, say, "#cookies" from user12345, but still see stuff tagged cookies from other users and the site as a whole.
is this real, or would i have to block the content site-wide to avoid seeing it from the blog?
(its mostly just reblogs of other affiliated blogs' posts, that i already follow said blogs for. not the end of the world either way, it just would be nice to declutter my dash where possible)

THE COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE TO COMBATTING ART THEFT
Table Of Contents
I. Why Art Theft Is A Problem
II. How To Spot Art Theft
III. What To Do When You See Art Theft
IV. Helpful Links
V. TLDR
I. Why Art Theft Is A Problem
Everyone, especially if you are considering reposting art, Please read this excellent post on this topic!!!
In the many years that I have been on tumblr, I have seen countless artists stop creating, stop posting, delete their works, and completely fall off the face of the earth. All of them cite a common nuisance: having their art stolen/reposted/used without their permission.
Obviously, it sucks for their fans (like you and me). But more so, it sucks for them! All of their hours of effort stolen from them in seconds. Imagine working on a project for hours only to have someone else take it, post it, and get all the attention for it. Everyone can agree: that would be awful. So, let’s stop this problem!
More severely, such illegal use can lead to lawsuits. Artists are always the sole owners of their work. When someone uses their property in a way they do not consent to, this is theft - plain and simple - and can lead to legal ramifications, courtroom headache, and tons more ugly stuff.
II. How To Spot Art Theft
Even if you are not reposting art yourself, you can still help the cause by taking a moment to think critically before supporting/liking/reblogging!
If you go through this list of tips and the art looks stolen, do not interact with the post. This small action will help discourage blogs from reposting!
1.) Red Flags. Note: these may be in the post’s caption or its tags!
“credit to the artist”
“artist: ?”
“artist unknown”
“source: pinterest”
Something that indicates a third-person viewership. (i.e. “omg he looks so good here!!”)
2.) Green Flags.
Something that indicates first-person creation (i.e. “this took me 3 hours” or “my contribution to the fanzine!”)
#mine / #my art / #my sketches / #my doodles
A signature on the work that matches the blog’s name
Commissioned work
3.) Check out the blog.
It is pretty easy to tell if they are the Original Poster or not.
Look for something that states they are an artist.
Scroll down their blog and see if they have posted artwork of similar styles.
Be suspicious of many styles that are drastically different. This may mean that this is not one artist’s blog, but is actually a blog that is reposting from many different artists.
4.) Beware post-production editing to the art.
An overlay of a fanfic title
Cropped into a header for a post
Placed next to other artworks of different styles
Blurred/Cropped signature
5.) Reverse Image Search.
https://images.google.com/ is an excellent tool! (Desktop only)
See if you can find the original artist on other sites (i.e. pixiv, twitter, facebook, tumblr, deviantart).
Search their bios and see if they allow reposts. If not, the artwork is likely to be stolen.
Many of the artists may not speak your same language. Use a translating tool to see their rules.
III. What To Do When You See Art Theft
1.) Message the blog that is doing the reposting.
This is the fastest and most direct method. It can be intimidating, but just remember and that you are doing the right thing!
2.) Approach them respectfully. Keep your cool.
No one will respond well to an angry message. Lay off on the all-caps, the swear words, the threats, the name-blasting. Here are some healthier alternatives to that:
“Hi! Nice to meet you. I saw you reposted this art...
did you get permission from the artist?
that artist does not allow reposts.
please delete the post and all other reposts that do not have permission on your blog.”
3.) If they do not believe that what they are doing is wrong, patiently explain why.
For a shortcut, direct them to this post!
4.) If they say that they have obtained permission, ask for proof of it.
Unfortunately, many blogs have started lying about having obtained permission. Here is an example I found today: “artist: 木の子 (pixiv)” but when you find the artist’s pixiv, you will see that they are totally against reposts.
5.) If they are still not cooperating, tell them that you will reach out to the artist directly. If this does not convince them, then actually reach out.
6.) Tell others not to support/like/reblog their reposts.
7.) When you see blogs reblogging reposted art, reach out to those blogs and tell them that the art was stolen.

V. TLDR
REPOSTING/EDITING/USING ART WITHOUT PERMISSION IS THEFT.
Reach out to artists before doing anything with their works.
Always think critically before supporting/liking/reblogging artwork. If it looks stolen, do not interact with it.
When someone tells you that you have reposted art without permission (which you shouldn’t have done in the first place), delete it is quickly as possible. Do not argue. You are in the wrong.
Be brave in the fight against art theft!
Art theft is a serious, common, but solvable issue! Taking these steps is the least bit of thanks towards artists who do so much for us <3

A Beginner’s Guide to Surviving Tumblr (2021 version)
Just some things I’ve learned poking around with a little side of tumblr etiquette. Also, I told someone I’d make a guide.
Tags
Original post - The first five tags are the most important because these are the ones your post will show up in. The first twenty is for search results and your own tag page.
Reblogs - The first twenty are for your own page. You will not show up in the general search result.
Moral of the story, put the important tags first and then your response. I think you have up to 50 tags.
Reblogs
You’ve probably already seen those posts about reblogging, so I’ll just reiterate the main point. Reblog on tumblr!! That’s how stuff spreads, liking posts will do absolutely nothing. If you’re on mobile, it’s as simple as holding down the reblog button and dragging to the appropriate blog you would like to reblog to.
Pro tip: Ramble in the tags. You’ll make the original poster’s (op) day!
New blogs, including sideblogs
For the first few days, you will not show up in the tags or search results. This is just tumblr making sure you’re not a bot.
Queue
I don’t know her. I spam reblog 🤷♀️
Settings
Account - Turn on that multi-factor authentication! Whatever language you choose, when you reblog a post with a read more, it’ll be translated to that language. Use filters to avoid stuff.
Dashboard - Set your default text editor (rich text, html, markdown). Turn off best stuff first under preferences. Turn on enable endless scrolling.
Privacy - Turn off let others see that you’re active. If you have this on, people will see a green dot when you’re active. It also tells people when was the last time you were active (in the last hour, 2 hours, etc.)
Blogs
Main blog only aka the first one you made - Turn off share posts you like and people you follow. What you do is nobody’s business but your own. (You can keep it on, I just don’t want people to know what my fixations are.)
Setup all the replies, messaging, asks for all your blogs.
Messaging
If you want to message someone from a sideblog, it’s easier through mobile (app). On the rightmost tab, the one where you see your blog, make sure you are on the blog you want to message with. To change, just hit the dropdown menu at the top. Then you can message whoever. Desktop is weird because it always starts with your main, unless you send a post, then you can choose the blog.
If you have a long post, put most of it under a read more. Just imagine having to scroll through this whole thing five times in a row. Exhausting right? On mobile, in a new line, type :readmore: and hit enter. Desktop just click the box with three dots on the right.
Another good thing about read more’s are if you edit the post, every single time someone clicks on the read more, they will be redirected to the correct version.
New Posts
Desktop - Use photo if you want to be able to put multiple pictures/gifs in one row. There’s a ten picture/gif limit for photosets, once you hit the limit, you’ll only be able to rearrange the order (vertical wise) of the additional photos/gifs. Make sure every photo/gif is under 10 MB.
For masterlists, use markdown or html. I prefer markdown because it’s much easier and there are plenty of cheatsheets. Write the list on your computer and copy and paste it into a text post that’s in markdown mode. This will guarantee you’re linking to the correct post and if tumblr breaks some links, you can just recopy and paste your file. This might be the most important tip in this whole post. If you have 80 links and tumblr breaks forty of them, you’re going to cry as you hunt those posts down and link them.
If you know html and markdown, you won’t be able to use all the features. Before you go all out, test it in your drafts. If it doesn’t show up there, it won’t show up on the dashboard.
If you want to insert a gif that links to the original post but it’s not the first gif in the set, get the link to the gif you want by clicking open image in new tab. Now in the editor, insert the first gif and switch to html mode. Edit the img src field. Do not go to markdown. If you go to markdown, it will just insert the gif and all credit will be lost.
NSFW
If you tag nsfw or the kinks, your post will not show up in the tags. Put the nsfw content under a read more and the warnings on top.
Pages
Create a link page if you use a tag a lot. The username/tagged/tag endpoint only shows the last 200 posts. A page will show all of them. Add /chrono to the end if you want it to be ordered chronologically.
You can also create a page for your masterlist. As in, the page is your masterlist. Not as mobile friendly as a regular post but it looks nice!
Supernatural
It will trend randomly. Every old blog was once a supernatural blog. You will find out about current events through supernatural. You will come to love it and hate it just like the fans. Just accept that it’s part of tumblr. I think they have a gif for everything.
one-time-i-dreamt
If the post has 200k+ notes and it’s absolutely wild, read the blog name. It’s probably from this blog. Or the other blog about parallel worlds.
Archive
Add /archive to the end of a tumblr’s blog to see their entire history. This is super useful if you’re looking for a specific post.
Last thoughts
Have fun. Please don’t get discouraged if your post doesn’t blow up and get thousands of notes. It’s been awhile since tumblr reblogged more than liked, so don’t take it personally.
Be safe! Think twice about the personal information you share. If someone went through your entire blog, would they be able to guesstimate where you’re from? What you look like? Who you are? Those ask games can reveal a lot about a person.
Overall, Tumblr is a great place because you can customize your experience. Use those filters. Don’t be afraid of asking blogs to add warning tags to their posts/reblogs (this is very different than asking them to stop reblogging or posting about certain things). Block users you’re uncomfortable with. Follow a ton of blogs.
Hope this helps!

Personal Rant
I was going to let it lie but then...no, I’m still a bit furious. I’m about to get personal and political so all of this is going under the cut. Also, I’ll tag so anyone can keep this off their feed if it’s not your bag.
I’m an older fan. I watched Classic Who on our local PBS station, I saw the original Ghostbusters. I remember when cable, microwaves and VCR first came out on the market. I am a fandom grandma. I’ve been in fandom since the age of nine, before I even knew what fandom was.
Also, I did most of my formative years of schooling in a Catholic School, I remember my school telling the kids that we needed to tell our parents not to vote for Mondale/ Ferraro in 1984 because they supported killing babies. I was raised in a Republican/ racist/homophobic family. And while my beliefs have always been at odds with my family (BLM, LGBTQA+, ERA), politics never held an interest to me. I didn’t know what Reagan did, all I knew was my parents liked him so he much be okay. I never paid much attention to Bush 1 because he must be good if he was voted in after Reagan. I was against Clinton in his first term because I didn’t know better and my ex was a Republican. while I wouldn’t call myself a Democrat or a Liberal, I very much lean that way. This is from decades of reading and listening and finding beliefs that align with what I believe in.
Then I read and I learned and I started thinking for myself and stopped listening to my family, my ex. friends. I have not stopped reading and learning because I am a salty bitch and anything if you tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about, I’m gonna do my damnedest to prove you wrong.
It took some time but I learned about LGBTQA+ and realized I was an ally, tried to be a better ally, Finally realized I was part of the community. I learned about BLM and realized that just because I don’t use derogatory terms for people doesn’t mean I’m not racist so I’m trying to be a better ally for POC and BIPOC,
I fight for safe spaces in fandom because I believe everyone should be able to feel comfortable in fandom, no matter age, gender, orientation, race. I fight for SWYL because heterosexual people should be able to enjoy queer fics and queer people should be able to enjoy het fics without worrying that someone will think them less than.
My page is a plethora of fandom, pretty things, politics, and other random shit I like. It’s my page. At times I’ll come across blogs I don’t like or posts on people I follow blogs. And I scroll past. Because it’s their blog and it’s not my business to dictate what they put on their blog.
With all the shit that happened with the Qanon/Alt Right/ Nazi/WTF you want to call it terrorist acts that happened this week, my tolerance level is at an all time low. So it is not a good time to reblog something I post with laughing emojies and telling me that you hope I educate myself. Because 1) I’m twice as old as you are 2) while your comment might have seemed tame to some people who are going to see it, I remember seeing the Pro Trump manifesto posted on another SM site that was justified because of four letters from the MBTI. I made a mistake of scrolling past then but not here, not on my Tumblr. If after last weeks Terrorist attack on our Nations Capital, you wanna reblog my post and add some condescending BS comment, you’re blocked. I have zero time for Nazis on my page. I’m not going to name and shame because this person is young and I truly hope they realize the hurt they’re bringing on people. Originally I was also going to tag ships but it’s not fair to those people to have this rant in their ship tags. . But what really pisses me off (and brings me back to fandom) is this person is in a ship I love. A het ship that is enjoyed by a lot of het and queer women. We’re already demonized for liking a het ship but this person is the poster child for what people think our ship is made up of. They’re trying to “climb the ranks” so to speak, they’re trying to take money from fans, queer fans, POC fans, fans they are politically against. And I hate it.
I have grown up over the years; in my fandom view, in my political views, in my views about basic human decency. I stopped listening to what was told to me and starting educating myself. I have fought with my family about my views, I have blocked family members on social media, what makes you think that someone I don’t know isn’t going to get the same treatment. So, please, sit down, turn off Fox News and actually educate yourself.
#political wank#personal#rant#seriously#you're gonna make be write this on a Friday night#I could be watching something nerdy#or writing fanfic

It is presently 4 30 in the morning and I need to lay out everything my brain has churned through before I inevitably have more important thongs to do tomorrow. Mouthwashing anon, if you are reading this post, I want to make it clear that I don't give a fuck if you show all these to your friends, I don't care if you act pompous and above me about the fact I am reading deeper into this than I probably should be. I'm well aware of everything this is saying about me, but I want to talk about you right now.
On my blog, I have made one, count them, one original post about mouthwashing. This post was a joke drawing that did not even feature or mention anya, so, unless you pulled some major fucking reaching up your ass for nonexistent subtext from that, your idea that my interests about this game lie in any significant way within the realm of shipping the characters. I will say this now, I think anya and curly could have an interesting dynamic in a romantic sense but it's really the least of the things I would want to analyze when it comes to mouthwashing. There is a mountain of other symbolism andninformation I would rather spend my time considering.
Now that I've made it clear that my singular original post regarding this game almost certainly did not lead you to the conclusion you made, I want you to step forward and tell me what did. No trick, no foul play, I am actually just fully enamored with the gymnastics that had to place you squarely within my askbox to send that message.
To my knowledge, I have reblogged a single post that could be read in a sense that I'm interested in the ship you claim I am. The issue with this is that reblogs don't show up in the tags. This leaves us with only a few options.
One, you were scrolling my blog after seeing the single original mouthwashing post I have after seeing it in the tags.
Two, the tumblr algorithm put the one revlogged post that could be read as romantic on your dashboard, shown as reblogged from me off of the original poster. Then, after you saw this, you decided to go for the person who reblogged the post rather than its original poster? Which by the way if I found you DO go harrass tge original poster somehow im going to track you down and hit you with a flathead shovel.
THREE, you are someone who already follows me, meaning there is a mole in our ranks that i have to sniff out and publicly execute as an example.
Now, anon if you've made it this far I applaud you for being dedicated to the hating game, and I also formally invite you to my direct messages to answer me one question. Legitimately what the fuck kind of butterfly effect domino stack neural jumping jack gymnastics lead you to the point we are in presently. And if you never see this I hope my like 5 consistently active followers found this at least marginally amusing to watch.
Tldr mouthwashing anon come talk to me. Talk to me now I need to pick your goddamn brain I'm so serious ok goodnight chat
Sorry to all my regular followers that have to read all these. I'm on new meds and they're making me laser focused on this. I HAVE to speak to this person
#i thiink maybe adderall has me strung tighter than usual BUT this has all become deeply psychologically interesting to me#thisss is my enrichmentttt im normall. im normal points to myself with a really big grin

Starfarers: Chapter 2
Happy gajevy day yall! I am so excited for all the love for my dear gajevy. This is where I finished off the original prompt for my Eden’s Zero crossover fic but we have now turned into a multichap. Levy dives into the deep end this time, and we finally meet Gajeel and a few of the crew members of the Iron Dragon. I hope yall enjoy. Leave me a comment, reblog, tag, anything so I know what yall like. Be sure to check out my writing blog @luminescent-words for all fics, WIPs, and everything literary!
Pairing: Gajevy
Length: 2.2k
Levy McGarden has a thriving business and a comfortable life on Blue Garden. But that life was turned upside down the night she crashed into the Captain of the Iron Dragon. Space pirate: Gajeel Redfox. She saved his life that night, and they’ve only grown closer since. Now, he’s got a proposition: come with him and he’ll take her to find what she’s been searching for her entire life.
Chapter 2: Captain
Levy whirled around.
Gajeel.
“Of course I got the note.” Her words tried to come out harsh, but the warmth spreading through her heart dulled their bite.
He was everything she remembered and more. Clad in a simple black shirt and leather jacket, he exuded confidence. Wild raven hair cascaded down his back, tempered by a thick gray bandana that matched the studded embellishments on his clothes and face. His red eyes pierced straight through to her heart. Tall and muscular and tanned from hours outside, he looked like he’d stepped straight out of one of her romance novels—only better.
The curve of his lips sent a shiver down her spine as he inspected her over too. Six weeks was such a long time, and there were so many details that had faded from the picture of him in her mind. The tiny scars on his hands, the sparkle of metal against his skin when his piercings caught the light. Holoscreens and wanted posters could not hope to do him justice.
Then there was his arm. Entirely mechanical, it stretched from the top of his left shoulder all the way down to his fingers. Dots of color and symbols speckled the entirety of the prosthetic, hiding the many gadgets—and weapons—his disposal. Dangerous, alluring, exciting. Real and right in front of her.
Gajeel flashed a wicked smile. “I knew you’d come. You were never afraid, not even that first night.” He took a long drag of her coffee. The cocky grin plastered across his face vanished in a twist of lips. “That’s no good. Needs whiskey.”
Lifting onto her tiptoes, Levy swiped the cup back. “I’d thank you to not take my things.”
“Ah,” he sighed, “but that’s what pirates do, little Levy.”
She glared up at him. He knew how to push her buttons far too well.
Gajeel laughed and tucked a loose wisp of hair behind her ear. “So, you ready to fly away with Captain Black Steel Gajeel?”
The challenge sparkled in his eyes. Nodding, Levy tossed back the rest of her coffee and raised her leg in a playful kick.
“Will these shoes work?”
He caught her ankle at the top of its arc, tugging just enough to examine the sneaker and her flexibility. Levy hopped to stay upright but managed not to break eye contact.
“Perfect.”
In one swift movement, he released her foot and slid his arm around her waist. Electric whirring filled the air. Then, they were gone.
Levy’s heart raced as her feet touched the floor. Travel by rift always made her nervous, but right now, that wasn’t why her pulse was pounding in her ears. Pressed into his side in a protective hug, Levy could feel the strong, smooth muscle hidden just beneath the fabric of his shirt.
“Wow,” she breathed.
Gajeel glanced down and cracked a devilish smile. Her hands still clutched him for dear life, and she could feel the burn of blush across her cheeks. Levy released him with a huff.
“I, uh, didn’t know you had a micro-rift. They’re really rare, ya know? And I didn’t even see you had it with you; I feel like I would have noticed—”
Gajeel lifted his mechanical arm.
“Built right in.” Tentatively, she took his outstretched hand. “Pirates like shiny toys, and this one has gotten me out of plenty of pinches since I got it installed.”
Levy’s fingers drifted over the cool metal, tracing the complex command sigils that covered his prosthetic in awe.
“Then why did we have to run?” she asked softly, almost to herself.
Gajeel chuckled, lifting her chin to look her in the eyes. “Smart as a whip, miss McGarden.”
There was something hidden in the depths of his ruby gaze she couldn’t quite place. Something that felt awfully like the burning desire of more. Breath stalled in her chest for a single heart-stopping second as she waited. But nothing came, and the moment dissipated around them like stardust.
Exhaling hard, Gajeel leaned against a nearby panel, tipping his head back and crossing his arms over his chest.
“I gotta modulate the frequency on it every once in a while or the alliance force will lock onto the signal. If that happens it would be too easy for them to find me and my crew.” His eyes grew dark and solemn, lost in a far away memory. “This ship’s my home.”
His ship.
“And I can’t have anyone finding us.” Standing to his full height, he shrugged off the feeling of gloom that had gathered around him. “I was going to Lily’s for a tune up. He’s a wizard when it comes to anything I need to keep the ol’ arm working. But no, he wanted to be a baker.”
They were on his ship.
“And until I can figure a way to build him a confectionery with a delivery vessel off the side of the old girl here, he refuses to close up the shop he’s got on solid ground.” Smiling, he rubbed the back of his neck. “But I’m working on it. Never had a better first mate, though.”
She was on a pirate ship.
“Ahem,” came an icy voice laced with annoyance.
Levy jumped in her shoes. She hadn’t noticed anyone come in.
“Not that you’re not a great first mate, Juvia,” Gajeel groaned, turning to face the newcomer, “but Lily was the better sparring partner.”
The woman strode toward them briskly from across the bridge of the ship, long blue curls bouncing with every step. She acknowledged Levy with a smile that reached all the way to her aqua eyes, before directing a glare at Gajeel.
“Juvia does not take you up on requests to fight anymore because she could incapacitate you in the first few moves.”
“Only cause you’d short circuit my arm.”
Juvia raised a hand to the ceiling. Faint blue sigils flared against her skin and storm clouds gathered above her head.
“Don’t test my patience, Captain. You’re being rude. We have a guest. You haven’t even told her where she is or made a proper introduction.”
“And how the hell would you know what I have or haven’t—”
Gajeel’s eyes ticked back to Levy, who had tucked herself against a nearby corner. “Shit, Lev, this is my ship, and this Juvia. You remember me telling you about her?”
Levy’s heart skipped a beat as all attention focused on her. “Um, hello,” she said with a nervous wave. “Gajeel’s told me about everyone. It’s nice to put a face to the name.”
Before she could step forward to shake the Juvia’s hand, Levy found herself lifted into a hug. Apparently none of his crew had any qualms about separating her from the floor.
“Welcome to the Iron Dragon, Levy. You’re officially sailing with pirates. I’m so glad you’re finally here. Gajeel hasn’t been able to stop talking about his friend for weeks now.” She giggled as she set Levy down. “Any longer and I was coming to find you myself. I’m Juvia. Please come to me if you need anything.” Stepping back, she lightly punched Gajeel’s arm. “Lugnuts might get to call himself Captain, but I take care of most things around here.”
“Hey!” Gajeel barked, “I do Captain stuff all the time.”
Mist gathered above his head, and a large drop of rain landed squarely on his face. Gajeel grumbled something about rust and swatted the cloud away.
“Juvia is first mate around here. She uses weather ether gear. Don’t get on her bad side or she’ll send a shower to follow you around for days.”
“Thank you,” Levy squeaked, “I’ll be sure to take you up on that once I know more about this place.”
The remark seemed to satisfy Juvia, and she turned her attention to a monitor off to the right.
Levy exhaled long and slow, turning in a circle to examine everything. She was on a pirate ship, with Gajeel, the promise of adventure right in front her if she was just willing to reach out and grab it.
“Wow,” she said under her breath, eyes lighting up like stars. “So, this is what you wanted to show me?”
Juvia tried and failed to stifle a laugh. “Smooth, Captain.”
Gajeel shot her a glare that could vaporize anyone else on the spot.
Unfazed, Juvia continued her work at the console. “You pick up everything we need or just that special item you wanted so bad?”
He nodded silently, daring Juvia to try her luck.
With a giggle, she shut off the screen and skipped out of the room. “Well, I’ll go tell Metalicana we’re ready then,” she called over her shoulder before turning down a passage out of sight.
Gajeel pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed, turning to face Levy.
“Don’t mind Juvia. She’s quirky, but she’s as smart and loyal as they come. Her favorite pastime is making jokes at my expense, though.”
“We’ll be fast friends then.”
That earned her a deep chuckle, and the air in the room seemed to relax.
“I did have something I wanted to show ya, Shrimp.” Gajeel took her hand and lead her over to a command panel in front of what could only be the captain’s chair. “You’ve been searching for some real specific scrolls, right? The ones you were so upset about that night. Well,” he pulled up a small section of space on the screen. “I happened to catch word that there’s some ancient scrolls on a planet, right here.” He gestured to a blue sphere on the screen. “Litulla. It’s on the outskirts of the cosmos. Some adventurers with a talking blue cat traded me this as proof.” Bending down, he removed a weathered roll of linen held together with an intricate wax symbol from the large iron chest beside his chair.
Levy’s eyes widened and the familiar words escaped in a hushed breath. “The midnight dove flying across a crescent moon.”
No. This couldn’t be real. They were all supposed to have burned, and yet here it was in the palm of her hand. Gently, she ran her fingers over the symbol.
“I can’t believe you found one.” Levy could feel the pull of ink and stitches in the back of her mind, itching for her to let them in. “They were used by the old council to mark documents of great importance. No one’s seen one in centuries.” Unbidden, a tear fell down her cheek. “This is amazing.”
“So, you ready for a real adventure? Let’s go to the edge of the universe together. Let me take you, Levy.” Gajeel squeezed her shoulder, and she shivered at the sudden coolness of metal against her skin. “Special delivery.”
Levy placed the scroll down and whirled around to grab him in a ferocious hug. She buried her face in his chest.
“Yes.”
His arms settled around her waist, and they stood there for a long moment, just holding each other. Levy bit back a sob. This was more than she’d ever expected. He’d remembered. He’d cared. A small part of her had given up hope on the search a long time ago, just like everyone else. But Gajeel believed. He was going to help her find the answers she’d resigned to live without, and there was nothing she could could do to show him how grateful she was—except go with him.
“Anchors away,” she said with a sniffle.
Bursting into laughter, Gajeel clutched his stomach and fell back into his chair.
“This is a spaceship, Shrimp, not some seafaring boat.”
“Starfarers, then.”
“Yeah”, he chuckled, “I guess so.” Taking a moment, Gajeel gathered his composure and called up a video labeled “Mechanics”. A tall, scarred man with wild salt and pepper hair appeared on the screen.
“Get her roaring, Metalicana!”
The man stared at Levy through the monitor then responded with a raspy grunt. “So this was the sweet you so desperately wanted to come back to this planet for?” He tossed his head back, laughing. “An’ here I thought you were talking ‘bout something Lily was makin’ us.”
Levy gaped as Gajeel turned red as his crimson eyes.
“Just do it, old man,” he barked.
“Nice ta meet ya, kid,” Metalicana said, addressing Levy with a bow. “Don’t let this one push ya around. He’s just a big softie under all that metal.”
Suddenly, the video cut out. “Pops,” Gajeel grumbled.
The floor hummed beneath their feet; Levy felt the prickle of excitement race to the tips of her fingers. Every risk she’d taken on Gajeel had steered her into something wonderful. Now, she was more ready than ever to dive headfirst into the unknown.
A smirk curled the edges of her lips, and Levy gestured with her thumb for Gajeel to get out of the seat. She was always the one who flew and he knew it.
Slowly, Gajeel stood. “My dragon’s a lot harder to handle than that little planet hopper of yours, short stack. Sure you wanna give it a go?”
Levy sat down with all the powerful grace of an oncoming storm. Command screens flickered to life around her, and she set their course without missing a beat.
“You’re not the only one with a few surprises up your sleeve, Captain.” Closing her eyes, Levy breathed in deeply. Her fingers curled around the controls as her smile deepened. “Yo, ho.”

Okay, so, hi everyone? I’ve gotten some new followers, which is a bit surprising, and I’m sure some of you are aware of the discourse currently happening the mdzs fandom. Normally, as my about page states, I will not participate in fandom discourse under any circumstances, but as I was personally signaled out in this, I’ll be making an exception just this once. I’ll be placing everything under a cut just so those of you who don’t want this discourse showing up on your dash can avoid it.
Okay, so if you’re unaware, a blocklist was recently created of people in the fandom that minors should avoid/be aware of. I, as well as one of my good fandom friends, was on this list. I will not be posting links to said list in any way, shape, or form, as I believe it is poorly worded and just wholely not handled well in its original context.
I’d like to preface this entire post with one important idea: you curate your own fandom experience. I actually encourage blocking/blacklisting things and people who make you uncomfortable, just be respectful about it. You don’t need to announce it, or let someone know you’re blocking them. If I in any way make you uncomfortable for any reason, and you are uncomfortable talking to me about it to try and fix the problem, then please unfollow me, block me, or whatever will make you the most happy and comfortable. In the end, fandom is about fun, and it shouldn’t be taken too seriously. It shouldn’t be used to hurt people.
I can’t say I’m not upset that I and my friend were included, and while I don’t know most of the people on that list enough to make a judgment, based on the reasons my friend and I were listed, I don’t believe the judgment of the original creator of the list was wholly sound. For full transparency, I am going to include why I, personally, was signaled out.
The first reason is for my submission here: https://mxtxpositivity.tumblr.com/post/183334608470/fic-rec-realize-what-you-never-knew-by
The fic I recommended is a fic that the friend I previously mentioned wrote, and I recommended it because I enjoy it and I enjoy supporting my friend’s writing. Now, the fic in question is about the junior trio, but it is written in a context where they are older and not minors. To be fair, my friend did not tag for this, and the lack of a tag for it was not something that I, as her beta, caught, either. I don’t particularly intend to debate whether or not it’s okay to write sexual content about young characters after they’ve been aged up, as it’s a rather gray area and whether it will bother you will vary. If it does bother you, however, that’s perfectly valid and I encourage you to avoid it. Blacklisting is a wonderful thing, and ao3 now includes a function to exclude ships.
The second reason I was signaled out in this post is for this: http://hypermoyashi.tumblr.com/tagged/yaoi
And just so it’s clear that I have not altered or cleared this in any way, here’s a screenshot with the time and date in the corner:
I would scroll down to show you guys more of the tag, but there is none. My yaoi tag is just two posts. This is the basis for which I was said to “support yaoi.” I’d like to point out that one post is literally a criticism of the genre as a whole. I have no idea why I tagged the second post as yaoi, but it was reblogged three years ago. It is not something I would reblog and tag that way today. I’ve used the same blog, the same username, for well over seven years now. There is bound to be some stuff here that doesn’t reflect who I am today, and there is also bound to be things that I’ve mistagged or not tagged appropriately in the past. I do not have the energy to clean absolutely everything out, but if you would like to point something out to me, I will be happy to change it. For my purposes, I’m not going to be altering my yaoi tag, in case anyone wants to check it for themselves.
Now, just as an off-topic, I’d like to point out that I’m bi/gray ace. I don’t hate yaoi per say, but I do dislike the picture its common tropes paint of the lgbtqa+ community, as anyone who has spoken with me for five minutes about it can tell you.
This is all I was flagged for, but in the name of transparency, I am also going to include something that, had our original poster of the list seen, would’ve been additional reasons for me to land on the list.
I am writing an A.B.O. fic for HOB. It will also contain an explicit scene in the future, and it contains some pretty heavy triggers such as attempted suicide and CSA/abuse. I know A.B.O. tends to be controversial for many, many reasons, but for the record, all characters retain their full facilities during any and all explicit scenes, on or off screen, and are able to consent or not consent to what is going on. Anything of that nature that happens to a minor does not happen on screen and is appropriately tagged as CSA. I also do not endorse or want minors reading this fic, but I’ll get into that later.
Now, does any of this disprove that I’m a potential danger to minors? No, it does not.
For one, disproving a negative is an impossibility. To demonstrate this, I’ll be using the same analogy my statistics teacher used. You have a field. You’re looking for cows. To find some cows, you divide the field up into twenty sections. Unfortunately, you only have the capability to check five of the sections. You check these five sections, and you don’t find any cows. Can you say, for sure, that there are no cows in the field? Nope. Because it’s impossible to check every section, and there could be cows in the sections you don’t check.
I cannot open up the entirety of my memory and history to prove that I have definitely never hurt a minor. It is absolutely never my intention, and if I have, I deeply apologize for it. But I have no way of disproving a negative because it is mathematically impossible.
Now that we’ve gotten up to this point, some of you might be thinking, isn’t treating such a baseless accusation so seriously, in a way, giving it validity? Well, in a way, sort of. The accusation is entirely baseless, yes, and this is going to be the only time I’m going to argue something like this in this way. It upset me, and it’s there, so I want to address it.
Now, I’m going to reference my about page. Here it is:
The text reads, “Hello! I thought, after about five years of owning this blog, give or take, it was probably time to make an about page.
“I mainly write fanfiction, which is almost always posted to ao3 and linked here unless it’s particularly short. Minors are definitely welcome; I don’t reblog or post N**SFW images or videos, nor do I write smut, though please be aware that this blog is “view at your own risk.” I tag for common triggers and potentially harmful content, so it’s up to you to know your limits and blacklist appropriately. That being said, if you need me to tag anything in addition to what I already do, please don’t hesitate to ask!
“My fandoms right now are mainly Bungou Stray Dogs, Heaven Official’s Blessing, Mo Dao Zu Shi, Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens, Pandora Hearts, Vanitas no Carte, Akatsuki no Yona, and D.Gray-man. Please be aware that although I do have particular ships I like, I’m not really that into shipping as a whole.
“I don’t reblog shipping discourse nor will I interact with hostile shippers. If you would like to talk about shipping with me, please do, just be nice! As a bonus, I love platonic relationships, so please talk with me about those if you enjoy them, too.
“ところで、私の日本語はちょっとわるいですけど、話すのが好きです。
“Finally, I consider this blog to be a safe place for me and others that does not discriminate based on race, gender identity, sexual orientation, mental health, physical ability, national origin, or religion. If that bothers you, please click the “back” or “x” button on your browser.
“With all that out of the way, welcome to my blog! I love talking with people, so feel free to message me or leave an ask. I swear you won’t be bothering me. Happy blogging!”
Now, I am going to edit this at some point, because I have written smut now. It’s not posted, but it’s still something I intend to post. But yeah, as of 3/13 around 5pm, that was my about page, and I have not changed it for quite a while. (Sorry I’m not quite as chipper today ^^”)
One of the links on my about page leads to this page:
Which reads:
A quick guide to my tagging system!
my fanfiction: stuff I’ve written
text post: stuff I’ve made/said
q: things posted from my queue (it is a very long queue)
art by op: If there’s no source, then I’m reasonably certain that this art was created by the original poster. If I’m wrong, please let me know and I’ll delete it imeidiately.
icons: whenever I save an icon, whether I use it or not, I reblog it under this tag
personal and/or ramblings: just me talking. Sometimes I won’t even tag these kinds of posts
— mention: normally reserved for common triggers, i.e. “Donald Trump mention” or “sex mention”
n**sfw warning: as stated in my about page, I don’t reblog n**sfw images or videos, but I do reblog n**sfw fic recs (ie links to explicit content) that is unsuitable for minors. If you’re a minor viewing my blog, please blacklist this tag if you feel the need to!
spoilers: anything and everything I think constitutes a spoiler. Sometimes I’m bad about tagging these, though. I don’t tag for specific fandoms, like “su spoilers” or “bsd spoilers,” so please beware of that.
And, for reference, this is the basis for which I generally rate my fics:
G (General Audiences): Anyone can read this
T (Teen Audiences): Anyone 13+ can read this
M (Mature Audiences): Anyone 17/18+ can read this (16 is fine, too, I think, depending on what the reader is comfortable with. My M rated fics often include dark/sexual themes, though, so 17/18 is the more comfortable range)
E (Explicit): Only people who are 18+ should read this (probably not gonna rate anything this since I don’t write smut unless I just really don’t want to endorse any minors reading it)
Again, this should probably be updated as I have written smut, however infrequent. I try to tag for common triggers, and I have asked here that minors under a certain age not read particular fics. All of my fics that depict unhealthy relationships, darker or sexual themes, or anything that I would be uncomfortable with a minor reading are rated Mature or Explicit, depending.
So all in all, I have tried my best to provide a positive experience to anyone who enjoys my content, and I try to tag so that potentially harmful content doesn’t reach those that it might hurt. I’m not perfect, and I can’t control everything. A minor can still go in and read my Explicit/Mature fics on ao3, no matter how much or how loudly I ask them not to. My content is meant to inspire, to show that life can suck, but in the end, everyone is worth it and continue on.
And, on that caveat, I’d like to point out that I generally take a stance of “create and let create.” Freedom of expression is the greatest gift anyone can be given. Yes, avoid content that hurts you, but please don’t lash out at those who create it. Until you know exactly why they’ve created it, what their history is, and what thoughts or feelings they were working through while creating it, please leave them be. Creators should tag their works so people can avoid content that might be harmful to them, but content that is harmful to one person might be another person’s lifeline.
But the reason I’ve laid this all out is that I want you to judge for yourself. Do I seem like someone you want to be friends with? Do I seem like someone harmful? Do I seem like someone you are indifferent to? Please make the decision that is best for you, and if you happen to want to be friends, please let me know ^^
Now, finally, I hope to see a more positive fandom experience come of this. I say all this, however negative or bleak it might be for me, because it was important for me to work through my thoughts, and I hope that something positive can come of honesty and communication.
Please don’t go after the original poster of the list, if you know who they are. It’s better just to let it go. The person seemed to have had good intentions, however ill-executed they were, and talking to them is only going to create more ill will and negativity for everyone. I believe, at least in part, the reason their list is so unfounded and baseless is because the content they cited genuinely hurts them, and when creating the list, they did not look at the full context of everything they were citing. And, well, context is everything, really. This doesn’t really excuse them, as they still hurt people with a largely unhelpful and thoughtless post, but brewing the negative feelings helps no one. I would also like to state that the fact that the content hurts them is not the fault of any of the creators. If you tag appropriately, but someone doesn’t take the time to blacklist or otherwise protect themself from content they know will hurt them, then that’s on them.
Fandom is a really interesting place. It’s full of so many diverse and wonderful people--minors and adults, lgbtqa+ and allies, tons of different nationalities--we should really take more steps to look out for one another. If there’s anything I could be doing better, please let me know. My experience with the mdzs fandom hasn’t been great up to this point, and I want to change that. I love this show, and I also want to love the people who love it alongside me.
Remember, for every not so great person, there are twenty more lovely people just waiting to meet you. And I hope that, from here on, those lovely people get every good thing they deserve.
#discourse#csa mention#abuse mention#rape mention#suicide mention#really if you have any super common triggers please don't read this#not tagging the fandom#and it probably wont show up in the tags because looong#but yeah here is my only participation in discourse#id prefer no reblogs#but feel free to reply#or message me

Calling out my idiotic jonsa logic?! First of all I don’t even ship Jonsa. I would have never found your blog if I had. Also is so rude of you to say that bc they can interpret it however they want and it’s just for fun because it’s a tv show. But you calling people idiots and stupid for not wanting to view the show the exact way YOU do is rude and uncalled for. Especially since Jonsas don’t tag you in their posts trying to get ur response or anything so what you’re doing is unexpected
I am just genuinely SO confused right now. Okay, for those just now tuning in, I’m gonna give you a play by play of how this all went down:
1) I saw a post pertaining to Jonsa in the “Game of Thrones” tag. It was ALSO tagged with: “Jonsa meta” "ActuallyJonsa” “Sansa x Jon” “Jon x Sansa” “Jonsa” and “Jonsa quote”. So I ASSUMED it was made by a Jonsa fan. Dunno where on earth I may have got that idea from, hmm, I wonder????
The post in question was pointing out “book evidence” for Jonsa - namely the whole Stone & Snow, Sansa bastard in the Eyrie thing.
2) ...Which is why I made this post:
Not particularly insulting. Not flattering, but not insulting. Why did I make this post? OF COURSE I know I’m not going to convince the Jonsas they’re wrong. I don’t really care. Season 8 is coming. I’ll let the show do all the arguing to them for me.
HOWEVER, I have people who follow me who aren’t as familiar with the material and always like reassurance that these Jonsa arguments are bogus. And many others just enjoy seeing me take apart Jonsa posts and call out everything wrong with them and their arguments.
It’s one of the foundations of this blog and it’s one of the reasons why I have as many followers as I do.
I don’t do it because I feel “threatened” by Jonsa. I don’t do it because they “make me mad”. I don’t do it to try to convince the Jonsas they’re wrong. I do it because it’s what people WANT to read!
3) So when I got this ask...:
...it was immediately after my Sansa/Jon/bastard post. So I guessed that it was about that. I honestly don’t know what else this ask could have been about because looking back at my main blog, I haven’t talked about Jonsa in weeks.
4) I never said it was the ASKER’S Jonsa logic. I just said “Idiotic Jonsa Logic”. Because I didn’t know FOR SURE if the asker was a Jonsa or just a pressed general GOT fan who got irritated that I took apart that Jonsa argument.
5) Then when you sent me this ask, you wrote “MY Jonsa logic” yet went on to claim you’re NOT a Jonsa shipper!
SO WHAT IS THE TRUTH?
Were you the original poster of that Jonsa post about “Stone and Snow”? Or someone else?
6) Moving on however, to wrap up this whole dramatic display, note, as you can see in the screenshot above, I DIDN’T TAG JONSA. I NEVER TAG JONSA.
There are a few Jonsas who enjoy the engagement and they don’t block the “anti Jonsa” tag specifically so they can find posts like mine and argue with me. I do the same thing - though instead of reblog that other person’s “Snow and Stone” post, to not fill up their notifications and not knowing if they were a person who liked argument, I paid them the courtesy of making my own post instead, in case they weren’t one of those people. Which again, wasn’t particularly rude or insulting. It was just pointing out a MAJOR flaw in that way of thinking - play acting vs. actually living through a social disability.
Those in the Jonsa fandom who don’t like the argument or don’t like seeing my posts typically know to block the “anti Jonsa” tag.
I’m not going to go through the hassle of typing it J0nsa or J*nsa or J-nsa just so it won’t show up in the Jonsa general search. If I did that, those who’ve blocked “anti Jonsa” still might see my posts and really, with the ways Tumblr has designed the search, I shouldn’t have to.
I don’t go on posts tagged “anti Daenerys” and whine and complain to them because they didn’t type it “D@nerys” or “Da3nerys” simply because I was too lazy to search properly and type “#Daenerys”.
The only Jonsas who see my posts are the ones who actively go out of their way to see them - either by not blocking the “anti Jonsa” tag - which is what I tagged that original post under - or by just coming onto my blog and scrolling through it’s content.
So don’t come at me with “since Jonsas don’t tag you in their posts trying to get ur response” as if I do this to them. Because I don’t.
You don’t like my content, DON’T FOLLOW. Block the “Anti Jonsa” tag if you don’t want to see me talking about Jonsa. Those who’ve followed me the majority of the year since I made this blog KNOW I do the occasional post about Jonsa and how their arguments don’t make sense. I don’t see anyone else complaining but you anon.
So how about you take your pressed little self for a walk and go whine to someone else because you clearly either didn’t know what you were getting yourself into or you’re so entitled you actually thought you could control what I do on MY blog...which you can’t, sorry to break it to you.

I also understand not wanting to "clog your friends' dashes" past a certain point though—like when I first hyperfixated on a certain game last year, I reblogged 300+ posts in the span of like 5 hours, and that felt like just a bit too much for me (everyone's limits are different though, so post however much is comfortable for you!). So I created a sideblog for that specific interest and just linked to that blog from my main.
A lot of people just put a mix of all their interests on their main though—I only have 4 sideblogs (this is one of them!) for interests that I anticipate a lot of consistent activity in! Every single other interest I have goes to my main, sometimes tagged, sometimes not.
Interest-specific sideblogs are also nice because you can scroll back through and find all the stuff you liked from that interest all at once! Even better if you have some variation of a "fave" tag on each blog—tumblr users are absolutely delighted when you "fave" their posts, in my experience, so that's an extra bonus! But I find it very fun to just scroll through my own blogs from time to time and see what I've collected!
Ultimately though, you'll find a group of friends on Tumblr by just posting like yourself. There's no single "right" way to use Tumblr, so long as you understand how certain functions work and how they're typically used (for example, reblogs, the queue, tags, the magic comma (‚) that can be copy pasted into tags, quick reblogs, mentions, how to create a sideblog, etc.).
As for likes, I like to picture them like a "thumbs up" reaction emoji on Discord. Doesn't do that much, but lets the person whose post you're looking at as well as the OP ("original poster") know that you saw their post. Like a little wave or generally positive greeting, but not really interactive as far as Tumblr goes.
Reblogs on the other hand, even silent ones, are often seen like "saving for later" or bookmarking, or like trying to show something to your friends. Like taking a screenshot and saving it to a specific folder. Usually a sign that you like something a lot— many people even reblog the same post many times in a row to show they really liked it! (Common is 3-8 sequential reblogs, but some people do even more. You can think of it like dragging like 8 of an item in a grocery store into your cart; shows that you REALLY like it a lot.)
Also, there's no shame in not knowing all of Tumblr's features, or finding several of them out way down the road. I only learned how to queue things a few months ago and I've been here for years.
seeing a lot of "why would i reblog anything i don't have something to add" like
sir this is the user-circulated content site
