#nnt lost gods au

Note
So I had a really convoluted idea for an au and since your one of the best NNT au ppls I wanted to talk to you about it. I will fully admit I was partially inspired bu Legend of Zelda lore.
First and foremost, in this au, Meliodas and Elizabeth aren't cursed, but they still go through the immortality/reincarnation bs.
So Meliodas and Elizabeth are basically demigods, right? But like... what if they were more than even that? What if they were full on Gods in and of themselves? They are still lower in the hierarchy compared to their parents but still divine in their own right. So, two gods... meliodas being a demonic God of War and Elizabeth a divine Goddess of Healing.
When the Great Holy War happens they fight and lead their respective clansmen, like in canon. It goes as normal for the most part, Meliodas and Elizabeth falling in love, running away to join Stigma, etc.
The difference is in how the War ends. It's not the Goddess Clan who stops the war. Meliodas and Elizabeth are the ones to commission the Coffin of Eternal Sleep, it's mechanics are designed to use the Divine magic of two gods to seal the clan away... BOTH clans. There's a price, however.
Meliodas and Elizabeth both give up their divinity, becoming a normal demon and goddess to power the seal, and their fates are bound to the seal and the two entities they intended to seal within it. Originally, the seal was meant for the Supreme Deity and the Demon King, not their clans. A coup to stop the war as a last result. So long as they live, neither Meliodas nor Elizabeth can truly die. The clans disappearing was just a side effect, one completely unintended on their part.
They succeed in sealing both the primordial gods away. However, the way the seal affects them are different. At the last second Elizabeth had tried to push Meliodas away when she realized what the price of the seal would be, making it so she got the brunt of the effect, but it wasn't enough for Meliodas to not be affected at all. Thus, when Elizabeth dies of her wounds, she is reborn as a human, and when Meliodas is killed, he is merely awakened. Both suffer from nightmares due to the link they have to their parents, which weakens when they die. Thus, why Meliodas is in Purgatory, and the reincarnation isn't instantaneous for Elizabeth in most cases.
And that's pretty much the gist of the background of the au
this sounds REALLY good, but I'm gonna assume that the "lore" you're talking about is totk lore, which I know little to nothing about. I haven't played the game yet, bc I'm busy with real life things and starting a new big game right now is probably not a good idea, plus there's still the fact that I don't have a switch, which would be a 300-400€ investment (and that's WITHOUT any games)
So what that means is that I would love to talk more about this au, but do remember to include background information, but please don't write "like in totk", because I will not understand that^^"
So anyway, what do Meliodas and Elizabeth do in this au then? as in, what's their goal? To release their respective clans without releasing the DK and SD? Do Mel and Eli want to regain their god-status/-power? And what about the seal itself, can it still be split into parts and if yes, are they still together or split apart? Do Mel and Eli know where it is? And how were the circumstances of making the seal? Like, did Mel and Eli trick craftsmen of their respective clans to make parts of it, or was that like in nnt canon? And since the canon seal had parts/depictions of every clan except the demon clan, maybe in this au there would be two separate seals for the two clans+gods?

New nnt au I'm working on I'm wish to focus on
🐉Name:Arthur O. Pendragon
🌳Age after time skip 21-22
Sorry I'm just going to be rambling here about the idea of what's going to be this au I've been thinking of for months and I just really want to act on it now since I'm not going to be as involved in doing stuff related to RWBY for some time
📜Set in Nanatsu no zaitai after season 1/ first arc after saving lions/ Leones (or however you say the kingdom's name)
The seven deadly sins are gone for several years and during that time Arthur Florence the knights of the round table and becomes very well known throughout the kingdom even more
And he all so meets a traveling knight blue lance (stand in for Lancelot from the story's)
💜
He and Arthur don't start off as friends but after several years of fighting together and then fighting with each other on and off they become good friends and one time after Arthur does manage to beat Lance he asked him to become his right hand Knight after he gets blinded
This is set after like the first season / first Big Arc is over after Leona's was saved I have it where the sins go on a mission for the King after saving the kingdom and they get trapped away in time and end up meeting the ten commandments and they end up trapped away in time for about 7 years you know matching the number of the seven deadly
sins and they come back to big changes throughout Britannia after the demons still do end up coming there and attacking everyone during this time skip Arthur still loses his arm to estarosa but during his fight when he loses his arm and his eyesight he uses Excalibur on him and that's how they find out that he's the Lost archangel I'm actually going to give him more to do in my Au
💖
I also have it where Arthur unlocked chaos and instead of him having all of it before Merlin disappear she locks half of it or more away
Because let's be real in the sequel series The only reason Arthur is evil is because Merlin literally gave him all the power of God and it's probably corrupted his mind she probably should have gave him like 20 or 30% of that power we've seen her divide people's Powers before she did it to meliodis I don't know why she couldn't do it to Arthur and have it where he only had like a small percentage or half his power so that's what I'm doing here
He can still change the environment around himself he didn't know how to heal himself till later so that's why he's blind and still missing my arm I won't be adding
Cath to this
🎂
Big things I'll be changing is this au Merlin is not really a kid in this version she's just the adult woman we see
Meliodas retires from fighting to give other nights the chance to shine and have a fight and since the ten commandments got fully sealed away or whatever and other stuff got fixed with the fairy Kings and Giants and whatever we won't be seeing a lot of that if I really do pull through with this au and make more of it
Elizabeth is 19 in this version as well when the series first starts cuz I do want to like add some stuff from the beginning Arc into this but I'm going to have it where she's 19
💛
I'm also going to introduce chaos earlier along with several other deities I'm just going to add in here I'm also going to have it where Merlin was a deity but she got killed and reincarnated into the little girl we all know she was in the story but then she grew up got her memories back of who she was and at some point doing the first holy war she sacrificed half of her magic so that way people could be born with magic throughout the land and be able to defend themselves
💚
I'm probably not going to introduce escanor till later on because I am not sure what to do with his character as of right now he plays such a big role in later arcs but since he wasn't in the first season really to this season maybe I'll just have it where he shows up at the end after everyone's saved and he just meets back up with everyone and that's how the sands get reformed and then they get sent on a mission they find out the ten commandments are about to come back and then they get trapped away and like some different portal thing that drops them away for 7 years
Sorry for yapping for so long

Between Goddess and Demon by lickitysplit
Nanatsu no Taizai | Melizabeth | AU | Rated T
Summary: A powerful demon banished for centuries. A lonely goddess trying to find her place in the world. When she accidentally sets him free, their fates entangle—which will bring either peace or turmoil to Britannia.
‿︵‿︵୨˚̣̣̣͙୧ - - ୨˚̣̣̣͙୧‿︵‿︵
Guess who's back? Although I never really left! With the end of NNT I went on to write for some other fandoms, although I still wrote a great deal about my faves on the side for fun. But here I am in 2023 writing Melizabeth again so we're gonna party like it's 2018.
This is an AU based on Love Between Fairy and Devil. There are lots of changes though to make it canon-aligned, so if you've seen the show, hopefully you'll still be surprised by a few things! I'm posting the first chapter below for any new readers, and the rest will be up on my AO3 (which is linked in my header). If you like what you read you can let me know with a comment or reblog. Finally, shout out to my writing group at the Old Forest for their help and support!
Elizabeth slowly walks towards the Celestial Palace, clutching a small silver box in her hand. The lands that surround the palace are made to look like the plush forests of Britannia below, and she enjoys the cool air of the morning as she draws closer. It does wonders to settle her nervous stomach and keep her fingers from trembling.
She is nearly feeling confident by the time the trees and grass give way to the marble walkway that leads to the palace, until she spies the group of goddesses that are already waiting at the entrance. For a moment she hesitates, wondering if she should just turn around; already she can spot several girls she knows, with powers and status well above her station. But this will be the first glimpse of the archangel since his triumphant return, and perhaps the last time she will have the chance to see him indefinitely. Screwing her courage, Elizabeth raises her chin and tries not to stumble as she approaches the crowd.
Several of the girls turn and titter when she comes in earshot. "Elizabeth, are you lost?" one laughs.
"No," she murmurs, dipping her head. "I am visiting the palace today."
The tallest of the group walks over with arms folded. "Is that gift for Lord Mael?" she asks loudly.
Elizabeth's cheeks go pink as she nods. "I brought some violet cake. I had heard that he—"
She is cut off with another round of laughter. "Elizabeth," the goddess clucks with a smile. "Lord Mael is the god of war. His brother is the head archangel who rules in the queen's stead. Do you really think the most powerful goddess in the realm wants cake as a present?"
She presses her lips together, eyes darting down to the little box. "I thought a bit of home would be a welcome comfort to him."
The goddess rolls her eyes. "I'm sure he'll love it," she grins before rejoining her friends.
Elizabeth turns away, lifting her head and trying desperately to ignore the others. There is a lingering shame at not having a better gift—the others probably have gold and jewels to present—but Elizabeth knows that Mael likes this recipe.
Her mind drifts to their last meeting, when he had said goodbye to her on the steps to the temple of fate. Mael had smiled at her warmly and wished her luck with her new position. At his urging, her master took her on as an apprentice, effectively saving her from ending up a lowly servant in one of the sky palaces. "How can I ever thank you?" she had pleaded.
"This is payment for all you've done for me," he had said.
Elizabeth shook her head. "No! All you've done for our clan, for Britannia... and now to help someone like me? I must repay this debt."
Then Mael had chuckled and replied, "Then wrap me one of your cakes to take with me back to the Celestial Palace. I find I miss them when it is cold."
Warmed by the memory, Elizabeth is nearly jumping with the sound of the approaching entourage. The goddesses start to chatter excitedly when the flags are spotted. Several rows of soldiers in brilliant regalia lead the procession, the white and gold colors on the flag shining brilliantly in the sunlight. In the middle walks Mael himself, still wearing his golden armor, a long white cape flowing behind him.
A cheer goes up at his approach. Elizabeth hurries to the edge to wave, but she is knocked back by the other goddesses jostling for position. Mael nods in greeting as they call his name, and Elizabeth quickly tries to move through the crowd to catch him before he enters the palace. Others with gifts lay them along the road, and Mael offers thanks to each one as one of the soldiers picks it up to carry as they continue their way. Those lucky enough to have gotten a personal thanks squeal happily when he passes.
The group is nearly at the gate, and so in a last-ditch effort Elizabeth pushes through two shouting goddesses to offer her gift. An elbow catches her in the back and sends her sprawling, the silver box falling from her hands and nearly getting trampled as the soldiers pass. With a cry she scrambles up to her elbows, but by the time she stands, Mael has passed through the gates, her gift laying unclaimed in the dirt.
She picks it up dejectedly, her heart sinking. Not only did she fail to give it to Mael, but it is now ruined, the cake inside half-crushed.
The others dissipate slowly as they compare notes on the procession. Alone, Elizabeth turns to head back to her home, ignoring the chatter and laughter around her.
‿︵‿︵୨˚̣̣̣͙୧ - - ୨˚̣̣̣͙୧‿︵‿︵
Her master is having tea with her sister when Elizabeth returns to her home. Jenna eyes the broken box as she walks past to set it on a table. "I assume his lordship returned safely?"
Elizabeth only nods, trying not to show her disappointment as she tidies the room. "Would you like more tea?" she asks.
"Who came back?" Zaneri asks. "I don't remember hearing about this."
"Lord Mael is back from the battles," Jenna huffs. "You know, for the guardian of memory you certainly can't retain a single thing in that head of yours."
The two sisters bicker, and it is almost comforting to hear their familiar arguments. She waters the plants and sweeps the floor, but before she can head into the library to check on the books, Jenna calls her to join them.
Elizabeth sits across from the two sisters. They are identical twins, except for the hair: Jenna is blonde, nearly white, while Zaneri is black as midnight. They each guard the past and future, keeping the lines of fate intact and organized so that destinies do not get mixed up and cause chaos. Jenna is her master and tutor, who took her in at Mael's suggestion; as her apprentice, Elizabeth tends to the books, fixing pages that fade with time and organizing the volumes in the ever-growing library.
"Elizabeth, Zaneri and I are going on a trip," Jenna says.
The goddess frowns. "What do you mean?"
"I need a break, quite frankly," she sighs. "We've been looking after fate for thousands of years. And I haven't had a single day off since."
Elizabeth looks between them, thinking of the many afternoons Jenna has dozed on her hammock as Elizabeth sat hunched over pages needing repairs. "Yes, I can... see how taxing it all is."
"Well you have been performing admirably, so I am pleased to leave the library in your care."
With that, the two sisters stand, and Elizabeth scrambles to her feet. "Wait! You're leaving now? Just like that."
Zaneri gives a loud, impatient sigh, but Jenna just laughs. "You know what to do. Fix what is broken, maintain the new threads. Most importantly, no reading. You can close the library to visitors if you'd like."
They head towards the door with Elizabeth on their heels. "How long will you be away?"
"Just a millennia or so. Maybe less if Zaneri annoys me."
"Hey!" Zaneri protests.
"Wait!" Elizabeth slides in front of them, between the sisters and the door. "But..." Her brows draw together as she twists her hands. "I just stay here? Alone?"
Jenna gives her a comforting pat. "Don't worry so much. Follow the rules and you'll be fine. We won't be gone long."
Elizabeth stammers a protest after them, but the sisters do not pay her any heed. She stands at the door and watches them head down the path before blinking out of sight.
‿︵‿︵୨˚̣̣̣͙୧ - - ୨˚̣̣̣͙୧‿︵‿︵
A year passes, then another. The library grows several new shelves to hold the new books that appear in random order. The pages of those who have lived for thousands of years grow brittle and yellow with age, needing careful reconstruction into fresh leather binding. Ink fades and paper tears, covers are bent, and tomes get shuffled out of order. Visitors come to request a peek at theirs or another's fortune, only to be served flower tea and a gentle denial.
Elizabeth holds fast to her duties in an otherwise boring existence. Her days are filled with one task after another as she falls into a routine of cooking, cleaning, repairing, shopping, tending the garden, repeat over and over and over again. The solitude can be lovely at times; she particularly likes to sit on the uppermost balcony among the vines that twirl along the railing and soak in the sun as the clouds roll by lazily. But on nights when a storm blows through, she huddles under her blankets and wishes for someone, anyone, to keep her company.
Her weekly trips to the market are a bright point, although most of the goddesses treat Elizabeth with a polite indifference. Her status as a lowly apprentice keeps the merchants from wanting anything other than her coin, and her shy and awkward nature stops her from anything more than a passing conversation with the other young women. Life is peaceful and lovely in the Celestial Realm, and they travel freely between the sky palaces that are under the protection of the archangels.
One day at the market, Elizabeth notices a flurry of activity as the goddesses crowd around and talk excitedly to one another. She wanders over to see the commotion, her eyes going wide when she spots Lord Mael.
He is speaking quietly to one of the soldiers, and when he is ready he raises a hand for attention. The square quiets down and he gives a nod of greeting. "My dear kinsmen," he says. "I've come to announce that the royal guard is seeking new recruits."
There is an excited buzz in the crowd. The royal guard only takes new members as necessary, an incredible honor with the added bonus of serving directly under Mael. Elizabeth's chest tightens with excitement. Anyone is eligible to take the trials, even a low-ranking apprentice like herself. As he goes on to describe the skills and duties of a guard, she pictures herself at his side, fighting against the evil in the world. Surely he would notice her then, and she would become his favorite?
"The trial is in three weeks' time," Mael announces. "Best of luck to all of our warriors."
The crowd applauds excitedly, but Elizabeth frowns. Warriors? She looks at her hands with a sigh. Her magic is healing-based, and she has never been in combat. Does she even have a chance at this?
These troubled thoughts remain as she heads home to the library. Elizabeth takes the longer way home, deciding a walk through the woods will help settle her mind. Can a goddess with healing magic have any hope of becoming a guard? Would she ever have the chance to get closer to the archangel?
So lost in her thoughts, Elizabeth doesn't see the tree root in the ground until she is stumbling. A firm hand catches her before she falls, and her face heats when she looks up to find Mael gazing back at her. "Are you alright?" he asks.
"Lord Mael!" she gasps. Then she quickly gets herself together, smoothing her dress and laughing nervously. "Yes, thank you. Lost in my thoughts."
"I hope they were good ones," he replies warmly.
Elizabeth smiles at him, unsure of what to say. He is just as handsome as she remembers, and now being right next to him, she finds herself a bit overwhelmed. As one moment after another stretches on, however, the air between them grows awkward.
Before she has the chance to respond, Mael gives her a nod and moves to continue walking. Quickly Elizabeth says, "Lord Mael! Please wait a moment."
He looks at her expectantly and she swallows against a dry throat. "I... I brought you a cake when you returned."
"A cake?"
He frowns in confusion so she hurries on, "Yes. But I was unable to get it to you." Mael tilts his head, still clearly not understanding, so Elizabeth squeaks, "Do you remember? You said you liked them. At the library."
There is a beat before recognition dawns on his face. "Oh! You're the goddess that became an apprentice. Yes, I remember." He chuckles lightly. "Well, I thank you for your kindness anyway."
Elizabeth beams. "I was just in the market when you made your announcement."
"Oh? Will you be entering the trial?"
She bites her lip nervously. "I'd like to... but I don't know if I can. I fear it may be too difficult."
Mael smiles warmly. "I remember when I faced my own trial. I was incredibly nervous."
"You were?"
The goddess nods. "Yes. But as long as you believe in yourself, it is possible."
Elizabeth sucks in a deep breath. "Thank you," she sighs.
"Best of luck to you," he says.
Mael gives a short bow, and Elizabeth returns the gesture with a curtsey. Then he turns and heads towards the palace; she watches him go, wishing that they could keep talking.
"Lord Mael!" she shouts. He pauses and turns, and Elizabeth waves her hand. "I'll do my best and pass the trial and become a royal guard!"
He nods with a grin and gives her a little wave before continuing on. She watches a few more minutes before hurrying back to the library, excitement blooming in her chest.
However, by the time Elizabeth returns to the library doubt has settled in once more. She keeps herself busy with some sweeping and preparing lunch, but her nerves has her mind wandering again and again to the trial. What if she is asked to fight a monster, or a demon? She has no experience with weapons and has never used her magic for anything other than healing. If she were to be faced with an enemy, she would surely fail, if she survived at all.
Mael had said that he was nervous for his own trial; Elizabeth tries to picture the confident archangel as nervous and fails. How did he overcome it, she wonders? Once more her mind wanders as she moves among the bookshelves, absentmindedly placing volumes in their spots. If only she knew more about his experience.
Of course, there is a way... Elizabeth bites her lower lip, a shiver going down her spine. Looking at a soul's book is not allowed. But a peek? At things that have already happened? Surely that wouldn't be too bad.
Before she can talk herself out of it, Elizabeth makes a beeline for Mael's book. She finds it on a shelf with the other great archangels, needing a ladder to climb to the stack and clutching it tightly as she hurries back to the desk. Her heart races as she settles in the chair and traces her fingers over the cover. It is a silver leaf, reminding her of his hair, the intricate patterns in the binding indicative of the many feats he has accomplished.
With her eyes closed, Elizabeth opens the book. Normally when fixing a page she can only see a portion, and is trained to not pay attention to the words as not to read them accidentally as she fixes the tears and smeared ink. But now she must try to find the right page, so she cracks open her eyes just a bit to peek, skimming along the story of his childhood.
Another few pages brings her to his schooling. The trial must be next, but a noise outside catches her attention first. Elizabeth jolts upright, staring at the doorway in alarm. "Hello?" she calls, her voice shaking slightly.
No one answers, and when another noise sounds she realizes it's the wind. "Calm down, Elizabeth," she chastises herself, pressing her palm to her chest. "Just find what you're looking for and go."
She swallows nervously and lifts the back cover of the book, intending to skip ahead a few pages. But she tilts at a sharp angle and nearly the entire book's worth of pages flitter in a rapid cascade until they land with a thunk. With a gasp she tries to stop it, but too late: Elizabeth is now at the end of the book, losing her place.
"Oh no," she breathes. Her brows draw down as she quickly scans the page; how far did she go? Mael has so many accomplishments that it is hard to pinpoint where in time the pages landed. Quickly she starts scanning, no longer trying to keep herself from discovering any secrets. Was this a year ago, or a hundred? She winces, trying to remember.
With a huff she starts turning pages, wanting to find her spot quickly. When the words start blurring together, she flicks the pages in frustration before slumping over onto the book. She has pressed her luck enough going through the pages, and needs to stop this dangerous game.
Sighing, Elizabeth slowly sits up when a passage catches her eye. The demon king, sealed in his dark realm, breaks through...
"The demon king?" she says aloud.
In confusion she continues reading. The demon king is just a legend: a fierce warrior who lived a thousand years before, leading his ten unbeatable soldiers against the other clans to take over all of Britannia. He ridded himself of emotion in order to take possession of a forbidden power, until the first archangel used all her power to seal him in Purgatory, to remain for all time.
But it isn't real, just a story told to children when they are naughty. Not only that, Elizabeth knows it isn't real because there is no book for the demon king. The demons themselves have waned in power and number, their destinies gathering dust in volumes on high, forgotten shelves masked by cobwebs.
So how can this be in Mael's book? She continues reading: ...the king of demons threatens the goddess' life, taking his future for his own.
With a cry Elizabeth snaps the book shut. What could this mean? She dashes a few tears from her eyes, her hands trembling as she presses them into her lap. If there really is a demon king, could Mael be in danger? Would he break the seal and take his life?
"I need to warn him," she whispers, quickly scrambling to her feet. The consequences for looking at Mael's future does not matter any longer. Only if she can get to him and explain somehow, if his life is saved, it will be worth it.
She finds the Celestial Palace in disarray. The wind that had thumped so loudly against her library windows has picked up into a fury, and the gates are barred as soldiers assemble together. "Please," she says to the porter, "I must see Lord Mael. It's an emergency."
"Lord Mael is on the battlefield," he replies. "Go home, little goddess, and lock your doors. There is evil rising in Britannia."
She takes a step back, her breath catching. Could today be the day? Elizabeth turns and hurries away, following the storm clouds and the bands of soldiers to try to find Mael. She takes the doorways between the palaces, jetting among the clouds as she seeks the source of the storm. The sky grows darker and blacker, lightning strikes in the distance, but Elizabeth pushes on.
At the very edge of the realm is a tower that serves as the last outpost of the Celestial Realm. Beyond is a sea that ends at the horizon, that legends say leads to where the demons once lived. Below is Britannia, home of the other clans. Elizabeth had never been this far before, but there is no mistaking that the source of the storm is coming from that direction. Hurrying as fast as she can, she finds the goddess army assembling, and high on the tower, Mael stands in shining armor, his sword drawn.
"Lord Mael!" she cries, but her voice is drowned out by the wind. Trying to stay hidden, she uses her magic to mask herself as a soldier, running between the groups to reach the tower. A few call for her to stop, but she pays them no mind, pulling her helmet down to not be discovered.
At the base of the tower Elizabeth stops in terror. The sea beyond is dark and choppy, a swirl of black clouds gathering as the center of the storm. But it is not a storm, she realizes, but a seal, and the way the lightning strikes it, it is clear it is breaking. "All goddesses to arms!" Mael cries from above. "Prepare to defend the realm!"
Elizabeth pushes past the rushing soldiers and runs inside the tower. A curved staircase takes her up and up to the highest balcony, the goddess nearly out of breath by the time she arrives. "Mael," she pants, leaning heavily against the doorway. "Lord Mael, please stop!"
He does not hear her, turning to the angels Tarmiel and Sariel at his sides. "I will seal the demon myself," he says, his great wings unfurling.
"No!" Elizabeth cries. She can see the scene play out in her mind's eye: Mael will fly to meet the demon king, and too late to stop him, the king will emerge and kill him. With no other choice, Elizabeth rushes forward, knocking Mael aside and climbing onto the railing before jumping off the side to whatever doom awaits.

Lost God's au would be an awesome name for that au! Oh oh!! How would the fact Meliodas and Elizabeth were actual gods affect how the War is depicted? Like... do the Goddess clan still claim credit? Do people believe two unknown gods stopped the fighting? Do they KNOW its Meliodas and Elizabeth??
I'm glad you like the name^^
I do believe that, since the goddesses probably still did a lot of propaganda against the demons, that the other three races would focus more on Elizabeth than Meliodas, even though they both had an equal hand in stopping the war.
So Elizabeth would be depicted as a saviour with Meliodas being rarely mentioned, and probably never by name. Maybe the stories would even warp into Elizabeth having been the sole god actively wanting to stop the war with Meliodas, being a demon, having been defeated by her and her then using his power to seal the old gods (SD and DK) away, against Meliodas' will. Legends are still being told that the goddess (Elizabeth) died, but the demon god (Meliodas) survived and is still haunting the land in a weakened state to find a way to release the old gods and start the war all over again. I can imagine humans going to war with each other, because both sides believe the other side has been possessed or is being controlled by the evil god of war (Meliodas). Meliodas would never actually do that, but war lines the pockets of those in power, so the kings and queens of the warring kingdoms are always happy to have some kind of scapegoat. Meliodas might be seen as an evil god of war of some sort, with Elizabeth being the goddess of peace. The story is false, of course, but none of the non-demon races really liked the demons, in part bc of propaganda, in part bc they very much were their enemies in the holy war.
Or Mel and Eli staged the whole sealing to look that way, if Meliodas never turned his back on the demon clan, in order to keep everyone else from disturbing them while they performed the sealing. So Mel and Eli would be pretending to fight, while actually sealing the old gods away, as well as the demons and goddesses as a side effect, plus their god powers as a sacrifice of sorts.

I wasn't thinking about the mural being part of the seal, more like... a record of events. Elizabeth had commissioned it because she wanted there to be some depiction of what actually happened in the war.
That's actually why Meliodas was in Danafor, he'd heard something about ancient Holy War Artifacts that were never seen before being found and discovered the place destroyed. He had actually moved the Dragon Handle to the cave but kept the mural in the petrified remains of Gloxinia's forest, buried. It jsut hurt too much to look at it since he was in a depressive episode.
Eventually, someone discovers the mural or the Sins stumble upon it or something. It brings a lot of questions that Meliodas isn't answering up
Since the mural is in what was once Gloxinias forest, then that means it is underneath Liones, since that's where the old fairy kings forest is, as we've seen in Gowthers backstory. So Nadja might've discovered the mural and told Baltra, who could've had a vision because of it and seen the future of Meliodas coming to Liones at some point. You could also just have Baltra keep it a secret for now and remember it years later only when Meliodas does finally show up. Alternatively, it could also be Gowther who saw the mural once before he meets Meliodas again and then brings it up at some point or another. You know the Sins would pounce on that opportunity to learn more about their Captain.
Meliodas wants to see the dragon handle once he's in Danafor to confirm that it really is what he thinks it is, but he's denied, because an artifact of such value can't be shown to just about anyone. Someone might steal it, if they just flaunt it around, after all (only Meliodas knows the irony of that statement). I can imagine Meliodas then applying to be a holy knight so he can get his hands on the dragon handle again. However long that takes is a mere drop in the ocean that's the metaphor for his age. Somewhere along the line, he climbs higher and higher and ends up being the kingdoms grandmaster, which he never planned for. He just wanted to get his hands on the dragon handle again. Or something along those lines, if we wanna go that route. He could technically also just break in and steal it. I think he could pull that off.

I liek the idea that different races might have had different stories about the tale of the gods who stopped the war. Like the Goddesses or Celestials probably say the Supreme Diety or Elizabeth was the one who sealed the demons. The Humans might misinterpret them as Meliodas, whos name is forgotten in time, having been defeated by Elizabeth and his power stolen and used to seal the clansmen away, the Fairies might know the truth but many misinterpret it as only one goddess or that Meliodas was a fairly minor role or antagonist, the Giants might know there was a second god involved hut not how involved he was or what his role in the story was. The Druids really depends, some like Jenna and Zaneri who was there would claim that Meliodas had equally fought alongside Elizabeth, knowing the truth, some others might think it's all a big fairytale (lol) and other still think Meliodas is a villain.
ooooh, that's good.
The stories range from race to race, which could potentially lead to another point of conflict within the Sins, if they form in this au.
And Meliodas just has to hold himself back whenever someone talks about the legend, bc none of the tales are what REALLY happened.

I'd say it was a mix. Meliodas was very mistrusted by most of Stigma so him being depicted may have caused conflict they couldn't afford to have at that point, but he might have also requested not to be depicted because quite frankly he was tired of it. Tired of all the eys watching him and tired of feeling guilty over his betrayal of his family. His little brother who is also a young godling just coming into his own powers, his friends and packmates, his team... he left them and is about to sacrifice everything to stop his tyrant father, it's a lot of guilt for him to parse through.
It's because Meliodas wasn't depicted that they even managed to convince the Goddess clan to assist, but Meliodas was the only demon to work on the seal. They were told it was to seal the Demon King away and stop the war, they hadn't realized it would also seal the Supreme Diety at the last second. And neither Meliodas nor Elizabeth had realized their respective races would have disappeared or been sealed as a result. The seal was a last resort, when all else failed. They hardly understood how it would work themselves.
I don't believe they'd make a "Master Sword" no... Melidoas may have helped on the seals creation but that was because be had to make the key so that he'd be able to imbue it with his power, to form a connection of sorts. Elizabeth had also assisted him in its creation so she could imbue her own power with his. As for the seal itself, it was split among the races. Only Meliodas kept the Dragon Handle, and it was stolen. Not at first but many, many generations down the line when Meliodas was doing his own thing, having thought simply hiding the entrance of the Handle's location and the mural depicting the event of the war underground would keep it safe.
Elizabeth still doesn't have her memories, but the difference is it won't result in her death if she remembers. This goes a long way to helping Meliodas' mental state, although having to watch her die and the next Elizabeth be a stranger still sucks.
yeah, that makes more sense as to why Meliodas wasn't depicted.
So is the seal in this au 6 pieces then...? 4 pieces depicting each race, the mural depicting the events leading up to the sealing and then the dragon handle. The three pieces depicting the races that weren't sealed away were given to their respective races, I guess, and the goddess piece likely would've been given to the druids then, with Meliodas having the mural and dragon handle. I'm assuming the mural is part of the seal, if not, then please correct me.
Honestly, I can totally believe that some knights or "archeologists" discovered the cave where Meliodas hid his pieces of the seal, which is how those got stolen and Meliodas doesn't find out about it until years later, when the kingdom makes a huge fuss about having found new artifacts from the holy war era. What if Meliodas has to steal them back XD ?
Are Elizabeths memories still triggered the way they are in canon, or is it different in this au? Because if not, i mean there's nothing keeping Meliodas from triggering her memories the moment he meets her every time, which isn't a bad thing necessarily. It's good that she doesn't die this time though, that's definitely gonna do wonders for Mels mental state, even if he still has to experience her death over and over. Maybe not quite as many times as in canon though, hopefully.

Well, a big thing I think is implied but never mentioned is that I believe each Elizabeth is still their own person in addition to being Meliodas' Elizabeth. Just like how each Zelda is still Zelda but also their own person with their own personality. Because of that, the triggers probably change. What worked for one might not work for another
yeah, that's true. And I kinda like that tbh^^

All the TC 3xcept for, of course, Zeldris. Since he is a god in and of himself. Wonder how that affects their dynamic w/ Meliodas...
Zeldris definitely still looks up to Meliodas since, being the god of war, he's pretty important in the middle of one.
What would Zeldris be the god of exactly though? His commandment in canon is piety, a kind of naive loyalty, which could fit, since he is very loyal to the demon clan. Less his father, but he did want to become the demon king in order to live with Gelda and he also expressed a desire for the demon clan to flourish in the cursed by light movie.

Eventually Baltra can come down to visit the artifact and Meliodas comes with him. Meliodas knew this was down here, of course, but he hadn't realized the mural his beloved had commissioned had actually survived! It was her final gift to him before she had lost her immortal life and been trapped in the reincarnation cycle she was in, and he jsut could help but wish to see it once more when it was discovered.
Baltra is, of course, flabbergasted by the odd resemblance his daughter and the Son of Wrath had to the mural, not because they were recognizable within the mural but rather because he recognized the scene depicted within the mural! His clairvoyant visions had show this exact scene to him before, but with his daughter and Meliodas taking the place of the godlike figures!
The mural was cracked in place and vegetation grew all over it. It had hidden it before, but that was cleared away now, showing the story etched in stone in almost all of its former glory.
Meliodas kept his outward reaction neutral, but on the inside, he was worried about the glances he was getting from Baltra. But he was also glad that this gift from his beloved had survived down here.
Baltra immediately commanded that this mural be brought up to the surface. This may just be the only complete surviving record of the holy war 3000 years ago, they had to make sure to preserve it! Meliodas couldn't help but be surprised about Baltras sudden... enthusiasm. He didn't like the idea of this mural, that did very much depict him, being viewed by the public. He quite liked the obscurity that came with the loss of his godhood. There was no way he could contest the kings decision though, not without revealing who, and what, he really was. Well, at least Elizabeth might get some of her memories back from seeing it.

In the lost gods au the reason the Ten Commandments are released is the same as on canon, but Hendrickson had Meliodas' blood as well from when he had stabbed him. So Fraudrin had both, but not in enough of a quantity to release the entire clan nor released the DK and Supreme Diety.
Now, the Ten Commandments are probably in a bit of a tight spot between a rock and a hard place. On one hand, Meliodas very clearly and deliberately betrayed them, their most beloved god whom had hand picked them for his own pack alongside his brothers had become a pack breaker in the most horrible of circumstances but on the other hand, Meliodas is their patron god, or at least he used to be. It was he who had gifted them their Commandments, him who had picked then and trained them, him who had seen potential in them!
The Demon clan was led by a family of gods, and Meliodas had been the one whom everyone had looked to the most! He was the eldest of the Demon King's children, the strongest and the one set to become his heir. And yet he threw that away, for his goddess counterpart. Oh, the matter as a whole was a lot more complicated, of course, but the story the Commandments knew of was that Meliodas had betrayed them for some goddess, sealing their king away sealing them all away with no consequences whatsoever.
The Commandments didn't start as friends to Meliodas for this reason. In fact, it wasn't until Galand's battle with Meliodas in Camelot until they'd realized it wasn't quite as with no consequences as they had thought. Meliodas was weakened, he had lost his godly powers. Which means their confrontation in Ishtar was done with them knowing Meliodas was, at the very least, a mortal at this point and not fully a god. Not anymore.
During Ishtar, Meliodas had teleported in their midst. Meliodas had attempted to explain his reasoning and bring forth their ultimatum, that he did not want war and to simply live his life in peace. But Estarossa had to bring the King up, a subject that was still sore after all these centuries for Meliodas. After that, negotiations broke down, the only good thing coming out of that being that Meliodas had at least been able to tell Zeldris to look within the crater he had left behind in Edinburg. A "final gift from his hated brother" was waiting for him there.
And so Zeldris finds Gelda and realizes Meliodas had spared her, but only after the events of Vaizel.
In Vaizel, they aren't trying to kill Meliodas. Mainly because they aren't sure if it's even possible to kill him and also because they still need his blood for those who remained within the seal. However, they don't hold back whatsoever. Meliodas, even without his godly powers, is a scrappy little shit and they know better than to hold back against him.
Plus Zeldris and Estarossa had a bone to pick with him.
It's when Estarossa had reversed countered Meliodas' own revenge counter that it deviates. Instead of stabbing Meliodas in his hearts, Estarossa instead grabs him by the throat and holds him aloft,
"How it pains to see how far you've fallen, brother. To think that you had fallen so low as to give your own divinity up to create that seal that you would become but a shadow of yourself..."
For many of the spectator it was shocking to learn of Meliodas' past as both a god and the leader of the Commandments. For a certain trio of Knights it was confirmation of something they had hoped wasn't true.
Elizabeth, of course, had already known. During Ishtar, when training in her powers, Jenna and Zaneri hadn't felt the need to hide who she used to be from her. She had already suspected it simply from learning about Liz... and unlike in canon, her memorization won't result in her death. So she knew about herself and Meliodas once being gods. However, she had no memories of that time. Though she longed to remember that time, this time around, those memories seem to be particularly stubborn.
Gil, Howzer and Griamor were shocked to learn of Meliodas' true past, but there were still questions. According to the legend, he was the one who was at the forefront of the war and was rumored to have started it in the first place, but the mural they'd found clearly depicted him helping the goddess clan sealing the demon clan away. So what was the truth?
Elizabeth could only watch as Estarossa held Meliodas high by the throat, strangling him, as he gloated about the commandments victory over their former patron god. She willed for her memories and powers to come to her, to save her lover from what would surely be certain death. There was no way the commandments would keep him alive, at least not for long.
Contrary to her thinking however, that's exactly what they were planning. Not only for his blood, but for hers as well, luring her to them and using Meliodas as bait.

I think Fraudrin's opinions on Meliodas would be rather... conflicting. For one thing, Meliodas isn't jsut a prince in this au. He's a god, or at least a former god. That in and of itself implies being the center of some sort of worship. And likely those who worshiped him are none other than the very people he was the crowned prince of, the Demon Clan and their fellow Demon Realm inhabitants. And Fraudrin? He's probably under the impression that Meliodas was merely disguised as a mortal demon Thai entire time, not that he'd full on lost his godly powers.
Can you imagine looking at the face of one of your gods, one feared and honored for his battle prowess throughout every clan and Realm in the land, and trying to kill him!?
So no, while Fraudrin probably isn't actively trying to kill Meliodas. Would he mind of he died? Well... a traitor is a traitor although he sure as hell wouldn't be happy about it. But I feel he'd be more focused on capturing Meliodas and trying to prevent him from killing me in return to consider the idea that Meliodas is mortal now... or at least Mortal Adjacent.
Now that I think about it, that could've actually been the reason why Fraudrin might've manipulated Hendrickson into creating the new generation of holy knights in the first place! No mortal being could hope to stand against Meliodas in battle, him being a god and all, so he tried mixing humans with demon blood to try and get someone/an army strong enough eventually. As long as no one found out, he wasn't exactly pressed for time. Fraudrin might also be searching for something that could weaken Meliodas' powers, so he could actually keep him captive long enough to get enough blood from him. Like, as a backup plan in conjunction with the whole new generation plan.
As for the worship part, while all demons probably acknowledged him to some degree, his more devoted followers were the ones following him into battle, with the TC being like the ones that Meliodas himself blessed for their strength, so in this au, the TC could've gotten their commandments from Meliodas himself instead of the DK. And since those are parts of Meliodas' power that he completely cut off from himself, they wouldn't have disappeared when he lost his god powers.

I'd say his plan was originally just to steal it, but he was distracted by the appearance of Liz. With another Elizabeth in the works, his priorities shifted and shifted HARD, especially considering the fact Liz likely wasn't in very good shape when he met her. Her backstory was as a slave afterall, and while we don't know what her life was like, it isn't hard to imagine it hard hard
So he would apply to be a holy knight and then steal it? Since Liz only came to Danafor when Meliodas was already the grandmaster... we can always change that part though, maybe he was visiting or still low in ranks and while he was planning to steal it, he saw Liz getting to Danafor, protected her from the law (more or less) and that's how he came to stay permanently and eventually become grandmaster.

Wouldn't it be funny if Liones didn't discover the mural until after season 1 when they were rebuilding and investigating Hendrickson's deeds? Like someone had to parse through all that unethical research and investigate the hole he kept the demons corpses in and at that point the Sins, while heroes, hadn't rejoined the knighthood at all sonthey couldn't be the ONLY ones doing the research. I can imagine Griamore and Gilthunder kinda insisting on joining the exploration team or something because... well... Griamore is Dreyfus' son and Gilthunder is the son of the man who's murder by Dreyfus and Hendrickson had kicked this whole mess off! Since both culprits are presumed dead at this point, I can see those two trying to find closure of some kind.
Howzer would join in just to be supportive of his best friends.
So one day, while they were still rebuilding everything, the three go down into the caves under Liones to try and learn more about what Hendrickson was up to and somehow... some way... they come across the mural. It's not as... clean and pristine after 3000 years, some sections had been buried by the petrified growth and rocks and stuff... but it was clear that this isn't the same story the humans were told of the end of the Great Holy War, that this wasn't some fairy tale and that it actually happened. That this is lost history from the Era of the war to begin with! The depictions are hard to understand... but the image that stand out most is the image of a silver being cloaked in light with a multitude of wings and a being cloaked in darkness with a single pair of black wings that stretch for miles behind them standing against two powerful and godly beings with the Dragon Handle between them. The same Dragon Handle that was still missing and that Meliodas was extremely upset to find was gone.
The faces depicted are all but nonexistent. There is a very stylized depiction of the figures and its impossible to tell exactly who they are... but Gilthunder can't help but be reminded of his idol and the princess while looking at the two figures. But that'd be impossible!!
Griamor immediately insists on taking the mural with them to show the king, it's an important historical find, after all, but is shot down by the other two, not because they disagree, but because there's no way they would be able to get the mural out of its place without damaging it. Instead, it would be better for king Baltra to come here and see the mural for himself. However, Baltra was likely gonna be too busy for a while to come down below the castle, so they would be sitting on the discovery of the mural for a while. Baltra has ordered a few guards to be stationed at the entrance of the mural though, since a historical discovery is still important.
Gilthunder kept thinking about it, the images of his idol and the princess in place of the two figures on the mural refusing to leave his thoughts. He visits the Boar Hat when he finds some free time and brings it up to Meliodas. He thought he saw the Dragons Sin pause for a fraction of a second, but maybe he was just tired from the work of rebuilding the kingdom.

That would probably fit the start of season 1 really well too. Like... a lot of the Knights in Season 1 were trying to killMeliodas, but as of Vaizel we see that they want him alive too. It could be that Fraudrin didn't care if Meliodas was alive or dead so long as he got his blood
Depending on how much Fraudrin knows, it could go in many different ways, tbh.
If Fraudrin thinks Meliodas betrayed the demons, then yeah, he probably won't care whether they get Meliodas dead or alive as long as he gets his blood. He might actually prefer him dead in that case though, since he's still very powerful.
If Fraudrin believes that Meliodas did not betray the demon clan, he might've tried approaching him in Danafor and ask him to help him in freeing the demons once again. Meliodas could've declined, because he knows that doing that would only restart the holy way, so Fraudrin did it in secret instead, leading to the fall of Danafor. Later in Liones, he would try to the same thing again, but this time hiding from Meliodas, because he knows that Meliodas would kill him the first chance he got. In this case, he would see Meliodas as an enemy and maybe learn that Meliodas betrayed the clan.

So for the lost gods au, since Meliodas and Elizabeth were the creators of the seal and the one to power it... does that mean either of their blood would weaken the seal or that it needs both??
I think it would need both of their blood. Just one of theirs wouldn't do the trick.
