I was bored so I put nms characters into the hunger games sim

The first thing i see upon reinitializing after completing the Atlas Path, is Laylaps saying "Hello, Friend"

"I am Laylaps, you are the first visitor to this sector, my scan has shown distress signals nearby that require your attention" "Ew, no that sounds irritating, I was here for the free animals, I was gonna build runway and make them compete in pageants" "Laylaps will show you the way, you are required"

"I don't care I'm gonna call her Claire. If you're gonna be rude to me, and make me do stuff when I should be eating a Whacky Pack, I'm giving you a nickname, and I just need one more tot plush"

So I died and lost my inventory in NMS and it was unrecoverable. I was so bummed because like a chump I was carrying all my important stuff in there.

But they I realised, Laylaps was gone.

I wish I was joking, but I legit started crying. I know its just a silly little companion in a game, but it felt so empty without it.

But Reddit, for all the shir ive been saying about reddit these last few days, they saved me. I got my Laylaps back.

Thank you Snoo-39991, you are my hero. You saved my friend.

So now me and Laylaps is going on a quest to get all those resources again :D

random little nms details that make me happy:

fighters (and possibly solars/exotics/interceptors, haven't tested them yet) can do a little barrel roll when warping (hold boost and press left or right three-ish times)

npcs waving back to you if you wave to them

the sitting animation. when they're sitting the avatar is a little fidgety like they want to get up and do stuff, but when they get up they seem so tired...idk it just makes me go 'bro you deserved that rest'

pets' happy dance animations and the little side texts (laylaps too)

the little vibration when you hit boost. like yeah it's going

the capes! especially the swish side to side when they walk

the little noise the gek make at the end of an interaction

frigates warping into an atmosphere and being like brrrrrrrrrm

holding keys/buttons. it lasts just the right amount of time

any of the player animations! they're really awesome, they lend so much life to the avatar

little glowy things floating in the air sometimes

+ a lot of other things (add to it if you like)

I’ve been playing No Mans Sky again recently and the new update is a blast

Not only are the new Sentinal ships really fucking cool, but I feel like the new corrupted Sentinal planet type helps solve one of my biggest problems with NMS

Said biggest issue is the fact that I feel like there’s a lack in depth and nuance with planets, there isn’t much of a reason to stay on one for more then 30 minutes unless you are grinding salvaged tech or fossils or crashed ships or something, or unless you see a base location you want to build on, and the thing with the corrupted Sentinal planets is that I feel like there is a reason to stay there for more then 30 minutes, there’s a lot of nuance and cool things all around the corrupted Sentinal planets, and it’s definately a really cool place to vibe if you want too, and I hope this is a sign that might have Hello games looks back at other planet types and gives them more nuance

Also, I’ve played on a new file so I haven’t gotten them yet, but I really, really, REALLY hope that Laylaps has some unique dialouge or something on these corrupted Sentinal planets

My brain likes to use sounds from whatever game I've been playing as background noise so even though I stopped playing nms like 30 minutes ago laylaps' buzzing and garbled speech is still loud and clear.
