Rant.

Why do people get so defensive and angry on stat talk? I’m not referring to followers or mutuals but as today, I said “I think Subaki is better than Hinoka in Rev.”

That got me 8 hate anons. I deleted them outright but it led me on this train of thought.

Stat Talk, Tier Listing, and Efficiency exists because there are people who genuinely play like this. I do more or less, it’s my personal ambition to play on a LTC level. I care about this stuff, I try to understand to the best of my ability why units are ranked the way they are. I can completely separate my likeness for a character from their effectiveness as a unit. I LOVE NINO AS A CHARACTER, I HATE HER AS A UNIT. 

But when I comes to me saying that X is “bad” or “not worth it”, everyone gets mad.

I always hear the same dam arguments.

Well if X is properly trained

Well my X got good

X is overrated

The whole if “properly trained” argument can really be applied to any unit and it overshadows the whole point of efficiency. Basically its about the amount of investment of resources needed for that unit to fulfill their role. It’s a simple logistical question of Cost & Benefit; does Cost exceed Benefit? It also ignores the fact that said units are never guaranteed to be good even if “properly trained.” Ever notice how this statement of “properly trained” is never used on units who are objectively bad like Marty or Jagen? It always used on units are sub-optimal like Amelia, Rebecca, or Peri.   “X got good” argument is just anecdotal evidence and anecdotal evidence is the lowest form of evidence. It is subject to bias, memory deterioration, and outright deception from the claimant. “X is overrated” I hear when a unit is recommended over another for efficiency reasons I.E FE7 Marcus, Seth, Pent. I often find this directed at prepromotes, particularly at Oifeys. Or in rarer cases in units who come really close to another to compete i.e Gonzales & Geese or Soren & Ilyana. It just frustrates me, this constant barrage of being called an elitist because there exist some metric of measuring a unit’s effectiveness. Maybe some of us have a deep interest in a play-style few would want play like LTC. I WANT TO PLAY LTC! IT INTERESTS ME. I legit don’t give a fuck how you play. You can play Phoenix Mode for all the fucks I give. I play Lunatic and crazy shit like H5 Shadow Dragon? Why? BECAUSE IT’S FUCKING FUN AND ENJOY PLAYING IT. I’m not telling you how to play, you can play however easy or hard you want. I REALLY DON’T CARE. USE WHATEVER YOU WANT, PLAY AS HARD AS YOU WANT. I DON’T GIVE A FUCK.  So to you 8 anons, fuck you.
