Finally had time to draw a lil something so I present some fanart of one of my fav fics, A Good Match, by @lemony-snickers !!

I’ve been meaning to draw something for this for soooo long but I’ve just never been able to make something satisfactory. It’s not perfect, and I took some liberty with design and the period of the piece (I always envisioned it to be in the 1860’s), but I hope this at least captures some of the essence of the story.

This piece also features my OC, Maeko, since the fic is a reader insert story. I don’t think I quite captured her perfectly, but again— the essence.

Konbu + his singular summon lol… a beagle named shoga (ginger). I imagine that Konbu is very good with kids and most of his work as a medic is actually healing children, from wounded genin/pregenin to civilian children caught in battles or taken as hostages. He’s like a ninja field pediatrician! So I gave him a beagle as a summon because they’re good family dogs.

Chapter XI: Nine Matchmakers

It was the pug, the head of the ninkens’ pack, who spoke first.

"Yo boss. What's up?"

Before the man could say anything, Guruko's wet nose shot up, letting out a dissatisfied whine. "You promised Kakashi! A day of fun! Don't tell me there's another mission!"

Upon hearing the word mission, Guruko's whining was joined by another three, who psyched themselves on spending some nice, free time with their summoner.

The jōnin sighed, waiting for the cacophony of barking and howling to die down. "Calm down, everyone. There's no mission, and I'm keeping my promise, you ungrateful mutts." Hatake's dispassionate words silenced the pack for only a moment, after which all eight of them let out a grunt of dissatisfaction.

"We are no mutts!" Shiba barked, being the voice of the rest, which earned him an eye roll from the silver-haired man.

Shiba’s cold tone and growl forced the ninja to raise his hands in a gesture of surrender, not wanting to tease his ninkens in front of the kunoichi who was holding back laughter behind him.

“All right, all right. Behave, and maybe you could say hello to Kaida, who invited us over?”

At the sound of her name, all the dog muzzles turned their attention towards the brunette who emerged from hiding. As if only now had the eight of them realized where they were and the scents that should have indicated the presence of another human from the very beginning. After all, Kakashi's ninken were legendary tracking dogs passed down in the Hatake clan for generations, fighting alongside the shinobi.

The whole eight jumped to their feet, surrounding the medic and causing a ruckus with their barking and leaping. Even the usually lazy and calm Bull got up and approached the smiling kunoichi. butting his head into her hip.

“Kaida!”

“Long time no see!”

“Yes, yes! Too long.”

The three loudest ninken, Bisuke, Guruko and Urushi, were the first to greet the medic, rubbing against her legs and licking her outstretched hands.

“Well, now that we’ve had some food, how about a nice warm bath?” Kushina offered, her tone bright as she smiled down at the girl. “Trust me, it’s the perfect way to end the day. You’ll feel refreshed.”

The girl blinked up at Kushina, tilting her head in confusion. She clearly didn’t understand the word "bath" and just stared at Kushina, her expression a mix of curiosity and uncertainty.

Shiba got her attention and took over… Did he just seriously start cleaning himself as a cat? 

It worked though and the girl nodded slowly, but as she stood up to follow Kushina, she turned and looked at Kakashi with big, pleading eyes, clearly wanting him to come along. Her gaze was so innocent, so full of trust...

Kakashi shifted uncomfortably in his seat, the weight of her stare making him squirm. Is she seriously expecting me to…? He cleared his throat, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. “Uh… I��ll just… I’ll explain the bath and then leave, alright?”

The girl’s expression didn’t change, her eyes still fixed on him as though she hadn’t quite understood his reluctance. Kakashi sighed softly, knowing he couldn’t just leave her hanging like that. Great. Just great.

Kushina opened the door to the bathroom, revealing a warm, inviting space filled with steam from the running bathwater. The girl’s gaze darted around, taking in the unfamiliar setting. Kakashi stepped inside hesitantly, trying to find the right words, the right hand gestures.

The girl tilted her head, listening and watching intently, as if trying to grasp the concept. Please let this be enough. But instead of responding verbally, she simply shrugged, then proceeded to pull her shirt off over her head, completely unfazed.

Kakashi’s eyes widened in pure, unfiltered panic. What the—?! He turned so fast he nearly crashed into the wall, his face flaming red. “O-okay! I think that’s enough explaining!” he stammered, his voice an octave higher than usual, already halfway out the door, backing up without looking.. Why do I always end up in these situations?!

Kakashi, his face still burning, leaned against the wall outside the bathroom, taking a deep breath to calm himself. She really has no concept of modesty, after all who needs something like that in the forest. He shook his head, trying to shake off the embarrassment.

As he finally exited the room, he let out a long, shaky breath, his heart still pounding. Note to self: Avoid all situations that involve explaining baths. Forever.

How did Kakashi land in this situation?!

his name is kamu (to bite) but he prefers his nickname daidai (a japanese bitter orange he enjoys eating that isnt meant to be eaten whole) ! hes very proud of his long eyelashes + androgynous appearance & dyes his hair to keep a very cool & brash appearance to cover up how shy + socially anxious he actually is. his favorite food is masago (fish roe) & daidai fruit. he cant stand the taste of ginger. his ninken is some sort of mastiff he named pillow ^_^ obvs hes from the inuzuka ichizoku 👍

Oc-tober Prompt 6: ‘interacting with a child in their life’

The lil fam carving pumpkins ! Kakashi is the child he tried to put the pumpkin on his head

I was going to write a lil something but my brain is too mushy, so Sasuke would enjoy the carving process, and getting to see his hard work pay off. Akami liked getting all the pumpkin guts out they’re stringy and gooey and fun. Kakashis ninken we’re def nearby to snack on all the extra pumpkin bits and he’d be sure to save and bake the pumpkin seeds for the humans to snack on while they watched a spooky movie of Sasukes choosing
