Headcanon for Hokage Kakashi
The main reason Kakashi took up the position as Hokage, was to stay in the village and help raise his family.
He would rather be busy in the village, than out on a mission away from his family.
He stayed as Hokage until his kids were mostly able bodied shinobi before retiring so he could travel with them.
Yes, Kakashi is an amazing father.

End of the War
Tumblr media
Rai felt awful, horrid. The only thing she could do was sit and wait as war raged. She could change the tide in the battle, she knew she could. Giving them the extra advantage.
Every fiber in her being itched to go. Pulsed with the urge to leap into battle. She would be so close to leaving the cave. Only to have the sound of her son draw her back in.
She made a promise. A promise to stay safe. To stay safe and raise their son.
There was a pain, an ache that came with knowing she could do something, but was reserved to the sidelines.
Holding her son, she tried to not think about what was going on outside. There was already a close call with an explosion in the far distance.
Days dragged on as her and her son remained deep inside a sacred mountain.
This mountain was home to the Okami. A spiritual energy surrounded them to keep this place safe.
The longer time went on, the more and more Rai's mind played her biggest fear. In the forefront of her mind, she imagined herself standing alone at the grave that held Kakashi's name while she held their son.
Someone approached the cave. Their feet scuffing at the entrance. Not many knew about this cave or its location. So anyone approaching was regarded as suspicious. Turning to look, Rai already felt her heart swell as his scent seeped into the cave. It was Kakashi. Dirty, beaten, and tired. But alive.
“Kashi.” She ran to him and threw herself around his neck. Staggering, Kakashi fell back and landed on the ground. Laying on the ground he embraced Rai.
Rai held onto him tightly as she trembled with relief and happiness. Warm tears streamed from her eyes.
His firm hold, his scent, his warmth. Everything wrapped her up and cradled her. She cried into his chest.
Kakashi buried his nose into Rai's hair, taking in her scent.
“Kakashi. Kakashi.” Rai mumbled incoherently with joy as she cried.
He was home. Within her arms, he was safe.
Finally, Rai's sobs calmed. Carefully, they peeled themselves back from each other. Rai looked up at his face. Shock quickly washed over her when she saw his exposed left eye, without the sharingan. What happened during the war? A soft caring smile replaced the shock as she reached up to cup his left cheek. Closing his eyes, he leaned into it and covered it with his own hand.
Rai leaned up and rested their foreheads against one another.
If he wanted to tell her, he would in due time. But right now, she was glad he was home.
Slipping his mask down, he leaned in and placed a soft much needed kiss on her lips. Rai kissed him back, trying to emphasize how much she missed him and how glad she was that he was back.
Pulling back, Kakashi opened his eyes. Reaching up, he brushed the tears that slipped from her eyes in relief.
They peeled themselves off each other before they stood up. Kakashi wanted to see Toshiro. Walking into the cave, Kakashi spied Toshiro sleeping in his crib.
His son must have noticed his presence. He stirred and opened his eyes. Upon seeing Kakashi, he smiled. Little hands and feet kicking. Kakashi smiled at his son. Reaching in, he scooped the little one up and held him. His little hands going to his father's face.

Just a thought
Gai is the kind of "fun uncle" that will race around with kids in his lap while speeding his wheel chair around the street as fast as he can.
Giving Rai a small heart attack when it first happened.

Traveling with Gai
Tumblr media
Kakashi had been mentioning about going on a trip with Gai for a bit.
“Do you mind if I take off for a week?” Kakashi asked over tea. Rai had just sat down at their table next to him.
“Hmm?” Rai looked at him. She had been preoccupied with what she was going to do today after she got done washing the dishes from their lunch. “What were you thinking?”
“Well, I was hoping to head out and spend some time with Gai.” Kakashi mentioned. Ever since he became Hokage, his friendships were put on the sidelines. But now that he was retired, and not too busy advising Naruto on Hokage duties, he decided to actually take some time off.
“I see no problem with it.” Rai mentioned with a shrug.
“Are you sure you'll be able to handle the kids alright?” He didn't want to just up and leave her with their children. He wasn't that kind of partner.
Rai shrugged, unconcerned about it. “It's not like their babies still.”
No, in fact they were all grown into independent beings. Toshiro was 17 years old almost 18 and a competent jonin, and their youngest Yuuki just turned 11 years old and a genin set to be a chunin soon.
They could fend for themselves if left to it.
“Go, have fun.” Rai told him as she laid her hand over his.
Turning his hand, he picked her's up and brought it to his lips to place a kiss on her knuckles. “Thanks, Rai.”
“Just let me know when,” Rai said. “Are you planning on taking anyone along?” She was meaning extra security. Kakashi had been pondering that. When Kakashi retired, Rai went with him as his personnel. She was still an ANBU and his bodyguard.
“I was hoping Mirai might accompany us.” Kakashi said. “She's turned into quite a shinobi.” Maybe it was for selfish reasons, but Kakashi felt that if Mirai was there with them, then Asuma was there in turn as well.
Rai smiled at the mention of her friend's daughter. Kurenai had asked Rai to help train her. However, Rai didn't want to hurt her. She was still just a genin at the time.
Rai had suggested her son, Toshiro, instead of herself. Kurenai didn't seem too thrilled with that option. So, she made a deal with Kurenai. When Mirai turned chunin. She would fight her.
Rai's training and fighting style was ruthless. She did subject her own kids to it, but they would be able to take it.
Kakashi taking a sip of his tea broke her from her thoughts. “It would be before the chunin exams. Yuuki will need our support.” His thumb rubbed her knuckles in a soothing motion. “I plan on helping him train.” Kakashi was a diligent father. Always taking interest in what their kids were up to and helping out when he could.

Kakashi and Rai's Kids
Eldest: Toshiro
(Talented, Clever son, Intelligent)
Birthday Aug 13th, year of war
Hair: Silver
Eyes: Dark Gray
Male
Mini me Kakashi
Skilled, talented, humble, quiet
Toshiro was their "good baby", he was easy and not difficult to raise. This gave Rai and Kakashi a false idea that their other kids would be just as easy.
Friend and classmate with Mirai.
Graduates early. Genin at 7, Chunin at 9. Rank of Jonin at 13. ANBU at 18.
Does get a crush on Mirai.
Rai and Kakashi don't push Toshiro, they encourage him to take his time and enjoy being a kid. Toshiro excels by himself.
Has the potential for ANBU but both Mom and Dad say NO. He is only allowed in the ANBU when he reaches 18 years old.
Toshiro was born two months before the war. He was the reason Rai wasn't able to attend or help out during the war.
Akari
(Light)
Twin 1
Birthday April 17th (Toshiro is 2 years 8 months)
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Brown
Female
Trouble maker’s second in command, but will stop when things almost go too far. She will reign in her brother.
She is rowdy and boisterous. But not nearly as bad as Keisuke.
Genin at 10, Chunin at 12, Jonin at 15.
Keisuke
(help, rescue, save)
Twin 2
Birthday April 17th (Toshiro is 2 years 8 months)
Hair: Gray
Eyes: Dark Gray
Male
Rambunctious trouble maker, mischievous, borderline feral.
He doesn't want to follow in his family's footsteps and does things in his own time. Rai and Kakashi love him regardless.
He's the reason Rai invested in kid leashes.
Has bitten Rai and Kakashi.
Has been picked up and hauled out kicking and screaming.
Genin at 10, Chunin at 12, Jonin at 18
Kanami
(peaceful, tranquility)
Birthday Nov (Toshiro is 5 years 3 months, twins are 2 years and 7 months)
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Dark Gray
Female
Wants to heal people, wants to help people
Kind, caring, quiet
Genin at 9, Chunin at 11, Jonin at 13
Researches medical nin.
Kanami was born during the time Kakashi was being chauffeured in as Hokage, before the official ceremony.
Yuuki
(Gentleness, superiority, rare, help)
Birthday May (Toshiro is 7 years 9 months, twins are 5 years 1 month, Kanami is 1 ½ years old)
Hair: Gray
Eyes: Brown
Male
Genin at 9, Chunin at 11, Jonin at 13.
Baby of the family, does get picked on by the others despite being a formidable shinobi, teased as Yuu-chan.
Similar demeanor to Toshiro.
They call Kakashi and Rai papa and mama. They then change to Oto and Oka, but go to Tou and Kaa for informal and familiar.
Yuuki was born several years after Kakashi got into office as Hokage, during the whole disbanding of the ANBU.

Topic of Children
At first Rai was excited to hear that Kakashi wasn't for or against having kids. He had mentioned that he wasn't really father material. Also, she had a feeling that his past had some thing to do with it.
As the excitement settled. She began to find herself dreading the aspect. What she went through with being hunted. Never really fitting in. Her job.
Maybe.
Maybe they shouldn't bring a child into this world.
Rai rarely used the term monster to describe herself. But she was, by definition, a monster.
Time went on and she was more opposed to the idea of having children. They would be different. They would be picked on mercilessly. They would even be hunted. That was something she could not have.
“Kakashi… you know, our kids… they would be-” her voice trailed off. How could she say this? How could she say this without sounding like she was saying monster?
“Perfect.” Kakashi finished the sentence for her. Looking up from the ground, her eyes locked onto his face. A genuine smile caused the corner of his eye to crinkle.
No. That's not what she was saying. Did he not see what she was trying to get at? There was no way he would have missed their children would be half demon. No.
An arm snaking around her and pulling her close broke her train of thought. Rai hesitantly curled into his side, resting her head on his shoulder and her hand on his chest.
“With you as their mother, they will be perfect.” Kakashi spoke confidently.
Maybe.
Maybe all her fears were for nothing. Perhaps, by the time they have a child or children, the world would change their view on demons. Maybe? Or they could foster in a new Era of peace. Start a bridge to span the chasm of fear that the majority of humans refused to cross. The chasm was deep rooted and long, spanning back to before humans could write. Bridging the fear would be no easy task. But if they could just get it started and show that demons aren't all bad. Perhaps, one day in the far future, both sides of the bridge could finally meet.
