Laser Tag’s Fun But
Summary: There's no better way to celebrate your fifth anniversary than with a fun game of laser tag. But Jay has other plans... Bruiseshipping. Valentine's Day special.
Pairing: Jay X Cole, Bruiseshipping/Geodeshipping
Cross-posted on FFN and AO3
@evelinaonline I lied, I can’t keep away from writing bruise... X3
Laser Tag’s Fun But
Jay couldn't remember much, except for the fact that Cole had been insisting that Jay not have any plans for February the 14th.
Jay stared at the date on his calendar for hours.
February 14th. That was Valentine's Day. What in the wide wide world of Ninjago could Cole possibly have planned that was so important, that Valentine's Day needed to be plan-free and marked ahead of time?
Other than the fact that it was Valentine's Day and their fifth year together.
Zane's voice plagued his thoughts suddenly. "I do not understand. Aren't the two of you dating?"
The blue ninja blinked several times, then squinted at Zane and at his surroundings. Where was he? Oh, that's right. He was with Zane, outside, in the courtyard of the Monastery.
Jay had walked in on Zane reading a magazine and started blabbering to him every single little thing that was on his mind. Specifically the thousands of questions that had infested his thoughts when Cole spoke of February 14th.
"Couples often spend Valentine's Day doing some kind of romantic activity." Zane said as Jay wrinkled his nose in response. "And Cole is your boyfriend, so I do not see the problem here."
"Well, no duh. Of course you wouldn't get it. You and Pixal have like, some kind of psychic connection I bet." Jay crossed his arms and pouted like a child, leaning against one of the poles. "Look, I, I didn't mean it that way, it's just, every year, whenever Valentine's Day rolls around, Cole has some amazing, big, adorable gesture to share with me… and I feel like I just can't return the favor. I mean, yeah, he's sweet. I can't say no to that."
Jay placed a hand to his forehead, chuckling softly.
"What I'm trying to say, Zane, is… is that I'm scared, okay?" The lightning master buried his face in his hands, muffling his groan. "Every year, his surprises always get better, and this year? Oh, I just had to get him something else this year, didn't I?"
Zane raised a brow. "What did you get him?"
"A pair of wireless headphones," he lied. Truth be told, he had a much more bigger gift to give Cole this time. One he hoped would seal the deal. "I thought about getting him chocolates, but I got him those on our very first Valentine's Day. Technically the same day as when we got together. I was trying to be romantic, he was trying to be romantic. We're both just so-"
"Jay! There you are! You ready, buddy?" Cole piped, sliding up beside him.
Jay nearly toppled over the edge of the stairs at the sound of Cole's voice. He held on tight to the pole, praying for his life.
How long had Cole been standing there?
And how much had he heard?
There his boyfriend stood, the biggest smile on his face and his eyes twinkling with excitement. It took Jay a while to notice the jacket Cole was wearing - the one Jay had bought for him as a joke while they were at the store.
"R-Ready?" Jay shook his head. "Yeah I am! What am I ready for?"
Cole's eyes narrowed. "Dude, it's Valentine's Day. You can't possibly tell me you forgot." Cole kissed him quickly and added, "Again."
Jay's face reddened. "No, no, no, no. Of course not! I was just talking to Zane and things started to get all fuzzy…" he cleared his throat. "So, where are we going?"
"Well that'd just ruin the surprise," Cole chuckled, taking Jay by the hand.
"What? You gonna blindfold me till we reach, wherever it is you planned to go?" Jay smirked.
"Actually, no. We're just going to have a little walk," Cole responded by tugging Jay closer.
A walk? Jay said to himself, following Cole's lead as they started for the city. "See ya later, Zane!" Cole called out to him as they were leaving.
Jay waved goodbye sheepishly to his nindroid brother, before letting his thoughts drift back to Cole.
It wasn't long before the two of them were finally in downtown Ninjago City.
Cole was doing an excellent job of keeping his mouth shut as Jay shot him with a question every once in awhile. The master of earth always considered himself to be good at keeping surprises. Jay was simply the one to test it.
Now, the ninja of earth felt it was his turn to ask the questions. "Can I ask you something?"
This took Jay by surprise. "Shoot."
"Okay, what did you think I had planned for today?"
"Oh, to celebrate our fifth anniversary in dating and Valentine's Day?"
"The numbers don't mean anything, Jay. But go on."
"Hm… I don't know, maybe something really top notch liiiiike a boat ride in one of those romantic canoes, and then maybe an hour or so at the amusement park, where I was thinking we could take some pictures in the photo booth, before we cuddle it up back home and… make-out?" Jay raised his shoulders, keeping an innocent face.
Cole gaped. He surely did not plan any of that. Maybe one or two of those things, but definitely not that. "Did you want to do all that?"
"I'm just spitballing ideas, you asked."
"Well, I hate to disappoint but," Cole gestured to the door, "after you, Freckles."
Jay rolled his eyes before walking past Cole and into the building.
Cole shut the door with a proud smile, moving past Jay and to the man beside the front counter.
Jay looked around the room, confused. Why was it so dark? And why were they here?
"Hey, Darreth," he heard Cole say to the other man. Jay cocked his head. What the heck was going on?
"Are they here?"
"Been waiting for you forever. Don't keep them waiting, Cole," Darreth pointed to the room across them.
Jay spun around to face Cole. His boyfriend threw him a glance over the shoulder and held out his hand before the two of them entered the mysterious room.
Waiting inside were two other people. One of which was Nya, and the other Kai, both of them with grinning features.
"What took you guys so long? Don't tell me you were taking your sweet sweet time getting all goo-goo eyed around each other," Kai teased, nudging Cole slightly.
Nya slapped her brother upside down in the head, "At least you two finally made it. Darreth was getting tired of waiting outside. Are we ready to begin?"
"Depends if this guy can keep his focus," Cole ruffled Jay's hair, watching as he awed, jaw-droppingly, at the things in the room. Cole couldn't begin to fathom just how much he loved watching his boyfriend get all riled up about the smallest of things, or even, the biggest of things. It was a precious sight indeed.
Jay held back a gasp when he saw the vests strapped to their chests and the nearly plastic objects in their hands. As he turned to Cole, he found his boyfriend already sporting one of his own vests and another in his hands for Jay to take.
"Oh my FSM, is this…?" Jay started, slipping into the vest, still a little too mesmerized by it all. A voice boomed over their heads as lights began to flash.
3…
Cole quickly placed a kiss on his boyfriend's forehead, covered by a mess of wildly untamed chocolate hair and he nodded.
… 2
"It is."
1…
The second the doors opened, Jay sped past Nya and Kai, dragging Cole with him by the hand to a fort on the far left side. He crouched down, holding back a fit of giggles and the rush of excitement.
"How did you - I - stars above, Cole-"
"Use your words, Jay," Cole joked.
"You're awesome. You're like… the best boyfriend in the entire universe. How?"
Cole grinned, getting down to eye level. "Easy. Got some help from Darreth, apparently he knows the people who own the place, and booked an appointment for some fun. Here at the Ninja-Laser Tag Zone. Need I say more?"
Jay bit his lip, dropping his gun and tackling Cole into a massive bear hug - if his arms could wrap all the way around that was. "This is going to be so fun," he said in a low voice, pressing a kiss to Cole's lips.
"Well it's not going to be as fun if we just lie here on the floor exposed to Team Red over there," Cole laughed, looking up at Jay.
"Gah, you ruin everything!" Jay crawled backwards, reaching his laser tag gun. "C'mon, let's go see if we can find them!"
When Jay stepped out, he heard a loud cry and turned his head to see Nya running at him swiftly with the gun pointed for the square on his chest. With a yelp, Jay spun around, ushering Cole onto his feet and for them to start moving.
As if things couldn't get any worse, Kai jumped out from behind a wall, recklessly aiming his gun.
Both Jay and Cole burst into a fit of giggles as they ran around the obstacles, trying to find another hiding spot and away from Kai and Nya.
The four of them ran in circles for what felt like forever. Kai and Nya would chase Jay and Cole, but then somehow, they'd switch, and Jay and Cole would end up chasing them. It was a never ending loop, one that filled Jay with a rush.
Eventually, Jay had picked up on Nya's scare tactics and managed to hit her square on when she stumbled upon a hiding place where Jay was waiting patiently.
After three hits, Nya was out of the game. Which only left Kai.
"Nice job, Sparky," Cole panted, almost out of breath.
"We only have three minutes left in the game," Nya warned from the ground. Cole helped her up, turning to Jay.
"Think we can catch Kai in three minutes?"
"While I think it's impossible, yeah. We got this." Jay clasped hands with Cole, a smile edging its way up his face.
"Team Crackle!" The two of them cheered in unison before splitting up once again.
Jay tiptoed around the corner, his eyes sweeping the floor for Kai. But the master of fire was nowhere to be seen. He had managed to stay out of both Jay and Cole's sights for nearly the entirety of the game, how ever were they going to find him?
The lightning wielder moved closer to one of the foamed forts, holding the gun close to his chest so to protect his square.
Two minutes, he thought to himself, biting the inside of his cheek nervously.
Two freaking minutes. This was impossible.
Jay looked to the floor, thinking.
It almost felt like Kai had just left...
In a hurry, Jay jumped out from behind the fort, arms in the air as he started for Cole. "Cole! I-"
The sound of the beeper clicked in his head and he stopped, looking down at his vest. A big red X sat in the middle and Jay gaped, huffing.
"Gotcha!" Kai pumped a fist in the air, running circles around Jay. "Man, you should have seen the look on your face! Did you think I left? It really felt like that didn't it?"
Kai praised himself too much to notice that Cole had snuck up from behind, firing thrice at the center of Kai's vest.
"Oh, ha, ha. Fine, you're the winner, Cole!"
"I heard my boyfriend call for me, I come." Cole spared a glance at Jay, smiling, then turned back to Kai, "Can't take him down without dealing with me afterwards."
"That was the most fun I've had in years," Jay told Cole as he wrapped his arm around Cole, leaning into him.
When the two of them had arrived back at the Monastery, they found a picnic blanket laid out in the middle of the courtyard waiting for them.
Two pillows sat on either side, one black, one blue.
Jay had looked to Cole curiously, asking if he knew about this.
Needless to say, it was Cole's idea, in which Zane had played a part in helping to set up.
"I like this," Jay hummed, "Just me and you, under the stars, here. Together."
Cole tilted his head, bringing his knees up for a close. Plates of crumbs lay all over in front of them, glasses tipped and their single plate of chocolate cake nearly all finished.
"I can't wait to see what you have planned for our sixth year together," Jay murmured, burying his head into Cole's chest, feeling sleepy.
Cole's eyes popped open at the word sixth and he looked down on Jay, lips tightening into a frown.
Jay looked up, raising a brow. "What's wrong?"
"Our sixth year together?"
The way Cole had said that made his stomach turn.
"Uh, yeah… what's… going on?"
"I… when are we going to stop counting the numbers?" Cole blurted, catching Jay by surprise. "Five seems special but, we don't have to count how long we've been together. When I'm with you… I feel like time just doesn't exist. We don't need to count."
Jay stared. Maybe now was the right time to reveal his gift.
"You're right. We don't need to count."
Cole's mouth gaped. "What?"
The blue ninja separated himself from Cole, reaching behind his back. Cole remained lost and confused.
Slowly, Jay pulled his hand out, holding something small and circular to his chest.
"We don't need to count. We're always going to be together. Because you love me. And I love you. We love each other, right? So why not just count till infinity? Call it a go?"
Jay held out his hand, pulling apart the little medallion. "Cole… be my Yang?"
Cole couldn't believe his eyes.
Was this really happening?
His boyfriend, sitting criss-crossed in front of him like the utter dork he was, with two halves of a medallion, asking Cole to be his Yang.
"Through all we've been. All we've done. You've always been there for me. I didn't always ask for it, but you stayed with me anyways."
Cole opened his mouth to speak, but found his words caught in the back of his throat.
"You're... you're the best friend anyone could ever have. You're stiff, but kind, you're gentle, you're-you're everything I could ever ask for. Heck, you don't even deserve me but yet, here we are." Jay found himself laughing, "Special best friends, right?"
When Cole finally found the effort to speak, it all came out as a sob. He tripped over his own words and yet Jay couldn't care less.
He knew Jay was sulking in the moment. He knew Jay was holding on desperately to everything he had just to make this moment last. To make it worth it.
"Cole?"
"Yes. Yes!"
In another effort to bear hug Cole once again, Jay burst into laughter.
With his half of the medallion, Jay pinned it to Cole's chest, rubbing it to shine.
"I love you so much."
Cole pulled Jay into a firm kiss, pinning his half of the medallion onto Jay's chest.
"I love you too."

Ninjago Valentine's Week Day 1
First Ninjago Ship: Plasmashipping
Kai frowned as he looked into the fire as the others slept, thinking of his sister, wondering if she was ok. Who knew what this Garmadon guy and those creepy skeletons are doing to her. He gritted his teeth. If they so much as put a scratch on her, he'd-
"Kai?" Kai jolted at the quiet, sleepy voice then snapped his head to the side, sighing when he realised that it was just Jay.
"What is it?" He asked, looking away as the blue ninja rubbed his eye with an adorable yawn.
Jeeze. He didn't need weird feelings to add to the turmoil in his head.
"We'll get her back. You know that, right?" Jay says quietly, shifting closer to him.
"Yeah." Kai sighed then glanced at the golden weapons Sensei Wu was all but curled around. "Doesn't stop me from being worried." He whispered, clenching his fist.
He blinked when Jay placed his hand on his, bringing his other into play and uncoiling his fist.
"I don't have a sister to know what it's like to worry so much but I have a feeling she's ok." Jay says with a smile then paused. "Well- as ok as she can be I guess. She is kidnapped by the Skulkin and Sensei Wu's evil brother after all and we don't know that for sure he won't hurt her. Let's not forget-"
"Jay." Kai says, cutting off his rambling, a reluctant smile on his face that widened a little more once he looked up at him wide eyed. "You're not helping."
"Oh. Sorry..." Jay says sheepishly, rubbing the back of his head but then grinned. "At least it got you to smile." He shrugged.
A light blush worked its way into Kai's cheeks as he looked away.
"I guess it did." Kai says softly, looking at the slowly dying fire.
A comfortable silence passed between them before Kai spoke up again.
"Ever gonna let go of my hand?" He asked and Jay's eyes widened as they fell to the tiny space between them where their fingers were intertwined.
He blushed deeply, pulling his hand way quickly.
"O-of course! Sorry about that. I'm used to holding hands when comforting people." He lied, holding his own hand as he looked everywhere but at Kai. "Anyway, I'm gonna get some more sleep. You should too hot head." He says laying down and immediately pretending to sleep, despite his still red face.
Kai watched him do so, the warmth of the fire fading before him but only grew stronger in his chest. Blush was a good look on him. He gave an amused huff at it all before laying down as well, turning his back to his.
"Night Sparky." He whispered and closed his eyes, sleep catching up to him soon after.
Meanwhile, Jay cupped the hand Kai was holding to his chest, his cheeks still hot as he stared ahead.
His hand was still warm.
*Just gonna leave this here. *

Dangerous to Dream (Jaya, One-sided Bruise Oneshot) (Ninjago Valentine’s Week - Day One)
Day One: Jaya / One-sided Bruise
I couldn’t remember if Bruise or Jaya was my first ship, and this idea connected them both and would not leave my head all day so here’s this depressing oneshot for Valentine’s week:)
(I hope it’s not too bad, I’m not the best with romance but I wanted to give it a try)
----
Cole could remember the first time he met Jay clear as day.
He had been anxiously waiting for his sensei to bring in his next student, and his new teammate when Jay walked into the room. His breath caught in his throat when they made eye contact for the first time. His eyes were this deep sapphire blue with small specks of green in them, First Spinjitzu Master he could get lost in those eyes-- he did get lost in those eyes.
His hair was a vibrant and curled red, his cheeks with peppered with freckles, dirt was smudged on his nose, and a lopsided grin rested on his face.
The boy was beautiful.
Then he spoke, and the sound of his angelic voice flooded his ears. It was higher-pitched but melodic, sweet, and genuine.
For the first few months of knowing Jay, Cole couldn’t fathom what his feelings for Jay were, he knew that he certainly felt for him more than Kai and Zane.
One day he caught sight of Jay flirting with Nya. He remembered glaring at the two from a distance, wishing Jay was flirting with him instead. That’s when he realized that he had a crush on the blue ninja.
He was a wreck that night when he went to bed, this was his first crush after all, and unrequited at that.
That night, he dreamed of Jay.
He dreamed of Jay approaching him, placing a hand on his waist and a hand on his shoulder. Cole did the same back and the two began to dance across the deck of the ship. He gazed into the wondrous blue eyes before him. As they began to slow to a stop, Jay leaned in, closer and closer…
But then he woke up. He had sat up with a start, gasping, his head and heart pounding. Jay then leaned over the edge of the bunk bed when he heard the gasp.
When the freckled face popped into his view, Cole couldn’t help but place a hand over his chest. Jay’s face wasn’t the first thing he wanted to see after the dream.
“Bad dream?” the ginger had asked sympathetically.
Cole just stared at him, his mouth ajar. Jay had one eyebrow raised, his nose was scrunched, and his eyes wide with concern. Oh he was in deep. “I-uh-yeah just a-a weird dream,” he had replied.
“I’m here if you wanna talk about it!” he had chirped before retreating back over the edge.
Cole laid there, breathless. He could feel the ghost of Jay’s hands on his waist and shoulder. Don’t do this to yourself, Cole, he thought, rubbing his face with his hands. Jay is straight. He likes Nya. He doesn’t like you.
Still, all he could think of was how gracefully they had danced together, how they glided across the deck, and his lips coming closer and closer still--
But no! He couldn’t think about that. He couldn’t think about his dream, he couldn’t think about his growing love for Jay. If there’s anything he’s learned while growing up, it was that dreaming was dangerous. The more he thought about Jay, the worse it would get.
But, he couldn’t stop thinking about Jay. No matter how hard he tried, everything the blue ninja did made his heart soar, his cheeks flush, and his words stumble over each other.
There were moments when Cole got hopeful. Those moments when Nya was oblivious to his flirting. When Jay would give him a hug and Cole’s face was pressed into Jay’s shoulder, catching a whiff of the familiar smell of Jay, oil and lemon drops. When he would playfully nudge Cole’s shoulder and smile at him-- it made his heart melt, and he felt like he almost had a chance.
But then he’d have to remind himself not to get his hopes up, because how could Jay love a wreck like him? Still, he couldn’t stop himself from dreaming about being with Jay.
Jay eventually mustered up the courage to ask Nya out, and Cole felt his heart shatter into a million pieces. A part of Cole hoped she would say no, the jealous, and desperate part of him, but she said yes, and they were dating.
That was the day he realized that he was in love with Jay.
He cried that night as he lay in bed. He thought about Jay asking him out instead, thought about Jay happily kissing him instead of her, but it just made him cry more.
The more he dreamed, the more he fell in love and the more he got hurt.
He couldn’t avoid Jay or Nya, they were always there. He was there when they kissed, there when they would cuddle on the couch, there when they held hands. He could hear them say “I love you” and there was nothing he wanted more than to butt in and say he loved him too.
A few weeks later, Jay had pulled him aside and told him that he was his best friend. Best friend. That felt like a punch to the gut.
He nodded and told Jay that he was his best friend too.
It was around that time that he realized that he was gay, and it scared him.
How would his teammates react to that? How could they like him for being like that?
But still he dreamed. He dreamed of coming out to Jay and the lighting master telling him that he was too. That he loved him. “I love you, Cole,” he would tell him before leaning close and kissing him.
And Cole would tell him how much he loved him too. How he had since the first moment he saw him. How Jay was everything to him and he would do anything for him.
But he always woke up.
One day during dinner, Jay had started to laugh. His nosed was wrinkled, he snorted, his head was thrown back and his curls were in his face.
Cole couldn’t deny that he stared, admiring the beauty before him. The purest form of Jay there was. He smiled, but it fell when Jay turned to Nya, kissed her cheek, and told her how funny she was.
What Cole would give to make Jay laugh like that.
Jay began to tell Cole about his relationship, it was his duty as his best friend to listen.
He smiled through the pain, masking his heart break with intrigue and dreaming.
He would go to bed those nights and dream of Jay saying the things he said about Nya-- the praise and admiration, the words of everlasting love-- about him instead.
But, like always, he woke up.
One night, Cole woke up from yet another dream of Jay- he couldn’t stop dreaming about him- and went to the kitchen to make himself self-pitying hot chocolate. He stopped halfway there, though, for he heard the sound of laughing. He sidetracked and began to follow the sound.
He could recognize that laugh anywhere.
The sound was coming from the deck of The Bounty, and when he peered through the crack of the door, he couldn’t help but back away, dropping his cup on the floor, the contents spilling everywhere.
On the deck were Jay and Nya, his hands on her waist and hers on his shoulders, gracefully gliding across the deck, dancing in the moonlight.
He watched as Jay gave her a twirl, his hair flowing gently in the breeze as he did so, a wide grin on his face, a sign that all of his nerves and anxiety were gone in this moment of bliss.
He felt frozen as he watched him dip her, holding the position for a moment before brushing a strand of hair out of her face. Then, Jay slowly brought her up, leaned in, and kissed her.
Cole watched, the tears forming in his eyes blurring his vision, as the two looked into each other’s eyes, taking in the beauty each saw before them.
Jay looked at Nya as though she were the one good thing in the world, the one true light in a world of darkness.
Nya looked at Jay as though he were the most beautiful thing she had ever seen, as though he were her everything.
They both looked at each other with love, with happiness and contentment.
Cole watched the as the words “I love you” formed in Jay’s mouth and were sent to Nya.
He shakily bent down, picked up the now empty, and thankfully not shattered, mug, and began to walk away from the scene before him.
He loved her. She loved him. There was nothing he could do to change that, and why bother? What kind of person would he be to stand in the way of the purest form of love and happiness?
He didn’t pay attention to where he was walking. He remembered setting his mug down on the table, and then suddenly he found himself wedged between the bathtub and the hamper in their bathroom, his head in between his knees and his body wracking with sobs.
The memory of the moment he realized he liked Jay took control of his mind. He saw that first dream, he saw the two of them dancing.
But Jay wasn’t dancing with him. He wasn’t twirling Jay and Jay wasn’t dipping him. His dance had gone to Nya instead.
He cried throughout the night. He had hoped so much, wished so badly that Jay could love him instead, could love him the way Cole loved him, but he had chosen Nya. He had been friend-zoned and shoved to the side. The way they were looking at each other… First Spinjitzu Master he wished Jay would look at him like that.
He had dreamed. He had dreamed of a day when Jay would, when Jay would tell him he loved him. But all of his dreaming was a burden, it twisted the knife in his gut, it was the kick while he was down.
It is dangerous to dream.

It Can Wait - Thinkfastshipping (Neuro x Griffin) One-Shot (#NinjagoValentinesWeek2019 - Day Two - Crack Ship / Rare Ship)
gUESS WHO IS ON THE THINKFAST TRAIN, IT’S ME
I have no clue when I started shipping these two? But it’s so random, oh my god- (Though surprisingly, not my most random ship. Wait until Day Four of Ninjago Valentine’s Week)
Anyway, hope you enjoy!
Title: It Can Wait
Franchise: Ninjago
Pairing: Thinkfastshipping
Summary: Griffin wants nothing more than to tell Neuro how he feels - it turns out, he doesn't have to.
Word count: 944
Read this on AO3 and FFN!
Griffin wasn't the best with his feelings.
That fact on its own was really unsettling, but combine it with his crush on his best friend, and you've got chaos.
And man, was Neuro out of his league.
The two of them were basically polar opposites; Neuro was smart, Griffin was not. Neuro owned at least a hundred books, while Griffin prefered to run around the neighbourhood. Neuro considered him his friend, and Griffin… He thought of Neuro as something different.
At least he was good at playing pretend.
The train of thoughts was interrupted by the sound of the doorbell in the house. Griffin jumped and rushed to the door, not wasting a second waiting before opening it.
He couldn't say he was surprised to see Neuro on his doorstep. He was expecting him after all. Yet, his heart seemed to go have forgtten, because it was beating super fast.
"Good evening," Neuro said with a tiny, yet clearly visible, smile on his face, and waved for just a second.
"Hey!" Griffin grinned. "Come in, man!"
"Thank you," Neuro said, stepping in the house and closing the door behind him. "Living room, I'm guessing?"
Griffin nodded. "You know it!"
The master of mind took off his shoes and left them next to the door before walking further into the apartment. Griffin's place wasn't big, but it was enough. He lived in the outskirts of Ninjago City, in a small apartment, and was lucky enough to have even found a place there.
Once they reached the living room, Griffin chose the edge of the couch to sit on, and Neuro sat next to him, their legs almost touching.
Griffin would have chosen the chair had he remembered of Neuro's tendacy to sit uncomfortably close to him. Well, uncomfortably wasn't quite the right word.
It was only that Griffin's heart was basically begging to leave his body, and he had no way of keeping it together.
"So I was reading this book, 'The Element of the City', and the protagonist reminded me of you."
The master of speed didn't know whether to take it as a compliment. He himself rarely read books, but Neuro practically lived in the library, and books meant a lot to him.
"Well, I've seen the movie!" Griffin said, earning an eye-roll from Neuro.
"Of course you have," he said.
"Oh come on, it's not that bad," Griffin crossed his arms. "I bet you'd like it."
"Would not."
"You would!" Griffin insisted. "Let's make a deal."
Neuro raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
"We'll watch the movie, and if you don't like it, I'm going to read the book," the master of speed said confidently. "But, if you do end up liking it, we're going to read one of my comics together."
Neuro huffed, rolling his eyes. "Oh, I'm in."
The movie wasn't as good as Griffin remembered it to be.
The actors looked as if they didn't know what was happening most of the time, and according to Neuro, the second half of the film was the exact opposite of what had happened in the book. At least the visual effects were good enough.
If Griffin were honest though, he hadn't been paying attention to the movie.
It was at moments when Neuro would let go of a chuckle, or become very invested in the film, that he turned ten times more adorable than usual. There weren't many times that Griffin got to see him like that, and so he found himself staring.
He just hoped Neuro didn't notice.
"So…" Griffin cleared his throat. "What'd you think?"
"In all honesty?" Neuro asked, then laughed. "It was horrible."
Griffin nodded slowly, letting go of a sigh. "Yeaaaah, I thought you'd say that."
He looked up at the master of mind, who had a bright smile planted on his face. Griffin didn't need mind powers to know that he had had fun, regardless of how terrible the production of the movie was.
He wanted nothing more than to lean on his shoulder, and have him hold him close and tight, and just stay in his arms forever. He wanted to go out with their friends and hold hands, and tell them that 'Hey! That's my boyfriend!'. He just wanted to tell him how he felt so badly, to show him his love, and to-
"I'd… Like that."
"What?"
"Oh. I wasn't supposed to listen to that. Right…"
It took only three seconds for the gears in Griffin's mind to turn; He was daydreaming about Neuro. Neuro was the master of mind. Neuro had heard all that.
Griffin wanted to bang his head on the coffee table, yet one thing that Neuro had said snapped him out of his desire.
I'd like that.
"You… You'd wanna do all that? With me?" Griffin asked, trying to supress the sound his heart made.
Neuro nodded. "I've… Felt that way for a very long time now, so…"
Griffin was floating.
"Then would you like…" to be my boyfriend.
"Not until you say it out loud."
"Neuro!"
Neuro chuckled, hitting Griffin's shoulder playfully. "Of course I'll be your boyfriend."
Griffin was floating.
"Awesome!" Griffin said, instantly facepalming himself. "I can't believe I just said awesome."
An arm wrapped around his shoulder, making Griffin freeze. "Things like that are part of the reason I like you."
"Oh." Griffin chuckled. "Then, I- Well… I…"
"I believe you owe me something."
Griffin gasped, snapping out of his shock. "The movie was terrible, but you enjoyed it! I believe you owe me!"
Neuro shook his head, pulling Griffin closer. "It can wait."
The master of speed smiled, snuggling on his chest.
It could wait.
