Ninjago Headcanons (because I have brainworms):

Kai:

-Before he learned about his powers, Kai would pull things out of the oven without wearing gloves (this was a frequent party trick of his)

-Is secretly pretty decent at cooking since he had to make meals for himself and his sister after their parents left.

Nya:

-Called Kai her "dad" when she was a toddler because she thought "dad" just meant "man who takes care of you."

-Nya and Zane have "holding your breath" contests.

Jay:

-Would suck on electrical plugs as a baby and be completely fine (this scared the shit out of Ed and Edna).

-Is actually a really good artist and would make Starfarer fanart for Lloyd when he was a kid.

Lloyd:

-His ability to use the other ninja's elements was only something he could do before he lost the Golden power. After that, his powerset settled to energy.

-Has Zane read him a bedtime story every night (even though he is an adult) to help with his frequent nightmares.

Garmadon:

-When he was stuck in the Underworld, we would make his skeleton minions send letters to Lloyd while he was at Darkley's.

-It was an inside joke between him and Wu when they were young and still allies for Garmadon to blame the Great Devourer whenever he made a mistake.

Zane:

-After the loss of his falcon, he had a plush made to honor him. He holds it while he is recharging (aka sleeping).

-He mimics the other ninja's voices to freak them out sometimes.

Cole:

-Absolutely loves kids and frequently goes to events to interact with his young fans (especially things like Make-A-Wish).

-Became extremely hydrophobic after becoming alive again.

Wu:

-After the whole "Baby Wu" incident, Wu accidentally calls Cole "dad" sometimes or responds to "Junior" as if it was his name (it is extremely awkward for everyone involved).

-Makes the most obscure references from 200 years ago that make sense to no one but him.

General analysis of DR Zane, S1 and S2 included (spoilers):

Man... Is this one a doozy...

Okay okay so, what I wanna touch on first and foremost is Zane's humanity, or his perception of his own humanity, because uhhh...

Folks the implications are NOT GOOD in the SLIGHTEST in regards to his Mental State and thinking process.

Something we've seen repeatedly throughout DR is that the merged realms and it's people in general don't view Zane as human, they don't see him as a person but more so a machine, or equipment.

We saw this first in S1E13 'Wyldly Inappropriate' we get introduced to "Zane Day", a day dedicated entirely to Celebrating Zane and who he is, and it sounds really sweet and it is- but...

It's celebrated in the worst possible way ever.

Zane is treated like a robot, like striaght up robot, when people speaks its all in an attempt to mimic a robotic voice, and sometimes people end up saying stuff that's really offensive to him (Zane look alike contest).

Heck, even other Nindroids are in on it.

This sorta paints a sad picture in regards to Zane, because it implies that the city (or maybe entirety of the Merged Realms) see Zane as just a robot ninja with cool powers, nothing more, nothing less.

And we see this a second time in S2E7 'Fugitives from Madness' and S2E8 'Secrets of the Wyldness', in which Zane and Cole fight off The Administration, and yet again we see how Zane's Humanity is absolutely disregard, heck it's even violated in this scenario, they don't even acknowledge him as a person, The Administration straight up calls him "Equipment".

Equipment that's to be destroyed when taken, and that's despite Zane proving himself to be an actual being multiple times to the agents.

So, what am I getting at here?

Well, in simple terms, The World of Ninjago Post-Merge doesn't really acknowledge Zane's humanity or his personhood, of course, the average everyday civilian to a lot less extent then say, an entire organisation, but the wholehearted confidence the Agents of the Administration say that Zane is an object calls into question whether it's their actual personal beliefs, or protocols set by the Administratior.

And... You know what's the absolute worst part?

Zane doesn't even TRY to defend himself.

Striaght up, he neither tries to explain what Nindroids are to people during Zane day, and just goes along with the flow.

And when fighting The Administration, he even OFFERS himself to them in exchange to let Cole and Bonzel get away, granted you could say it was part of his plan to buy him and the others more time, but his continued insistence on trying to find a compromise with The Agents sorta hammers home his whole hearted belief that he's:

A) Expendable.

B) Not a person, but a machine/"equipment".

Now, this might be over analysis on my end, but I would also like to point out the scene where he plugs himself into The Administration mech and tries to decode/hack their netrowk and systems.

In that scene, his mech gets stabbed in the back with a massive sword from one of The Agents, and instead of immediately getting the fuck out, he stays Plugged in and KEEPS trying to hack their stuff, all in the hope that he can finish it in time before he gets fried alive.

Unfortunately, that doesn't happen, his circuits get fried completely and he passes out.

But, it again (directly or indirectly) hammers in points A and B, Expendable, and Nothing more then a machine.

(I would like to add as well, his this parallels nicely with PIXAL in S11 during 'Kiaju Protocol', their stubbornness, and something I've neglected to mention about Zane which EVERYONE knows, is his Self-Sacrificial and Nobel tendencies).

And you don't even have to make that many assumptions for all of this to be considered true, just look at what he says...

In S2E5 'The Spell at the Waterfall', Zane finds a plush made for him by Frohickey, of Frohickey himself.

When Zane asks why Frohickey made him this plush, Frohickey says that he made it so if Zane had any issue to take up with him, he could talk to the Plush instead (reminiscent of his PIXAL-Brush coping mechanism in S1).

And Zane... Well he striaght up lies, he says and I quote:

"I do not expiernce heightened emotions."

Which, yeah, okay buddy, sure...

Just ignore the time you shut off your emotions... Sure

But anyway, this is really really unusual for Zane to say, he might not be good at emotions, but he'd never ever deny the fact that he feels all of them.

Well... Unless he fully believes he's just a machine.

See what I'm getting at here?

If he doesn't believe he's more then machine, then he sure as hell will make wrong assumptions and judgements on his own personhood and emotions, and... Why shouldn't he?

Everything and Everyone in the merged realms sees as him as nothing more than that, regardless of previous experiences and events that have impacted him personally.

It's wrong, really REALLY wrong, but in his mind, probably not so much.

So, what do I think they writers are doing this?

I think personally, this is all subtle and slow build up to give Zane an eventual arc, perhaps in Part 2 of Season 2, or in Season 3 even.

Because, even Doc himself recognised that Zane's character has become very stale and boring during the last few seasons, and given how pretty much EVERY CHARACTER in the show has gotten something to do that involves their character, it'd be particularly odd to leave Zane out (well unless they don't know how to write him).

And it's why they're deliberately making Zane go and say these things, it's subtle, but when it's time to give him his own time to shine, it'll make a lot more sense.

This could also related to the egg/pod thing he woke up in under Imperium, because Doc also said that it's a matter for later seasons.

But it remains to be seen if the future planned Zane arc/story is connected to the egg he was in, we'll just have to wait and see really...

Jiang Kai | Kai Kalama

Kai is Chinese, through his mother, and Hawaiian, through his father, with a little Persian from an unknown ancestor. He is hotheaded, confident, impulsive, determined, brave, loyal, passionate, and caring.

Reader (She/They)

Reader is a fashion designer and frequent protestor for many different things. They are passionate, driven, altruistic, perfectionist, honest, quiet, and reserved towards strangers.

Zane Julien

Zane was built to look incredibly human so he looks African, like his father, with short white dreads. He is strategic, curious, logical, reserved, loyal, and calculating.

Reader (She/her)

Reader is a self-made artist who makes artwork of non-traditional things, to show off how people do not need to be traditional. Also croches and makes little animal plushes for clients. She is very charismatic, smart, curious, passionate, and finds it difficult to focus.

Cole Brookstone

Cole is Italian through both of his parents, and speaks the language fluently though he rarely uses it. He can be competitive, focused, loyal, kind, sensitive, easily annoyed but slow to anger.

Reader (They/Them)

Reader is the owner of Fairy Tale's Cakes and Stories, a café and bookstore passed down to them from their grandparents. Very decisive, organized, practical, loyal, direct, honest, and patient.

Jay Walker

Jay is Scottish Gaelic from his unknown parents. He is curious, energetic, enthusiastic, perceptive, good-natured, and positive.

Reader (She/Her)

Reader is a mechanic for a shop in Ninjago, and close friends with Nya. She is rational, curious, good-natured, energetic, and determined.

Lloyd Garmadon (INFP)

Lloyd is Norwegion with more from his Grandfather, but he does not know. He is loyal, empathetic, gernerous, energetic, adaptable, and passionate.

Reader is an assistant at Doomsday Comix, a place that Lloyd frequents. They are reliable, passionate, altruistic, charismatic, idealistic, and curious.

Ninjago Season 1 DR au

Prepare for madness.

Fic (this is still being written so some things may change depending on my opinions later on):

Kai had been traveling to the Monastery for a few weeks now. He couldn’t wait to arrive, he traveled through all kinds of new places on his way. He missed the others.

— The Merge was pure madness towards those final moments. At first, Jay was violently pulled and yanked into the middle of the storm with a scream as his mech was unable to withstand the pull of the storm.

Zane pulled a civilian on board before he was hit by some tech that didn’t look like it was from Ninjago, and was able sucked into the center. Not even a scream was heard.

Cole was next, he had tried his best but he was too close to the storm and before anyone could reach him, he was sucked in with a scream. “I’ll find you!”

The pull was stronger now and Kai held onto the ledge of the Bounty’s railing, holding onto Nya’s hand, who linked her other with Lloyd’s. “Don’t let go!” Kai screamed.

“I’m slipping!” Lloyd shouted, at the end of their small link, trying to hold onto his sister and brother.

“Lloyd!” Nya yelled, trying to pull their younger brother up with her arm.

Lloyd grabbed onto Nya’s hand with both hands as Kai tried to pull the two up, but the pull was too strong. “Please! Don’t let go! Don’t let go!” Kai begged his siblings.

Lloyd looked up and met the others eyes. Kai and Nya saw the look of anguish and fear on his face. “Please don’t let—“

Kai was cut off when Lloyd was yanked into the middle of the storm with a scream. “No!” Kai screamed out. Nya also suddenly was pulled in and Kai could only watch as his baby sister and brother, both whom he basically raised, were pulled into the middle of the storm. Not knowing what happened to them.

There was a flash of light and Kai screamed as his world broke down around him, and faded into darkness.

Kai didn’t know what to feel about the Merge. He had yet to find his teammates. He couldn’t think straight as he finally approached the Monastery.

The Bounty rumbled as it came to a stop, and Kai walked out onto the deck. He looked at the Monastery as he got off. Surely someone would have run to see who was here? Right?

Kai walked into the Monastery and found nothing but dust. The controllers that Kai and Jay had left behind in their rush were in the same spot, Zane’s pot of stew still on the stove, probably bad, Cole’s punching bad still on the floor from breaking the hook on the ceiling, Nya’s small project sat unfinished, her tools untouched, Lloyd’s favorite dragon plush on the floor.

Kai picked the plush up and brushed some of the dust off. Lloyd had just gotten the plush, it was weighted, along with the hoodie Lloyd had gotten for his 18th birthday, the day the Merge happened. Kai hugged the plush close to his chest and he fell to the floor. If only he could’ve pulled them up.

Maybe he wouldn’t be all alone.

This Au is where Lloyd doesn’t end up in the Monastery, leaving Kai to deal with it all. Where is Lloyd? And how will everything play out?

Argh I’m so happy, they finally gave Cole a family outside of the ninja team because let’s be real Cole was kinda sidelined for ages he needs a nice family of people who respect him and also he needs a hot purple boyfriend to look after him!

Lloyd isn’t an npc, he’s a human being with flaws?? Like actual? Logical? Flaws? He’s not just a main character anymore?? His flaws aren’t even super annoying either. And like CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW FUNNY IT IS THAT TIKTOK AND YOUTUBE CANONICALLY EXIST? THE NINJA ARE LIKE, TUMBLR SEXYMEN??? IN THE LEGO UNIVERSE?? THATS SO FUNNY, WHAT?

all the jokes feel like actual people talking, the writing feels natural for the first time in years! Zane isn’t constantly abused, he’s happy and frog man is the best character and if Lego doesn’t immediately release mini figures for frohicky and all the other minor characters that are pretty important I’m going to Sue.

also I haven’t watched the next episode but if it doesn’t explain what happened with Zane to end up with a frohicky plushie I’m going to go ballistic, alright?

Dragons Rising Season 2 Pt1 overall thoughts!

WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS DO NOT CLICK UNLESS YOU'VE WATCHED THE WHOLE THING

In no particular order:

Wow, this season was the heaviest one yet. I'd been a bit disappointed by how Season 1 seemed a bit light on the life lessons that I found so compelling in Ninjago. Well, DR2 delivered in spades, from the theme of secrets, to the issues of mental health. Never should've doubted Ninjago writers!

WHY LEAVE SO MANY UNRESOLVED THREADS THOUGH. Not even clues for fans to speculate on?!?

Like what happened in Cole's journey to follow Master Wu?

What really is that glowing orb sprite thingy? Because it showed up in the Monastary of Spinjitzu to close the portal gate, right? How was it doing that before they'd even traveled to Mysterium? Have I misunderstood something? (Granted, I had to do chores here and there so I really might've missed something... need a rewatch)

Where did Cinder even come from? How did Ras recruit him? What's his story?

What really is Arin's object spinjitzu power?

Of course I'm sure all of this will be resolved/revealed eventually, but it seems a lot to conclude in the next 10 episodes. Oh wait, they've said they have enough material for a few more seasons right? Well, sure looks like enough for at least a third season.

I think the ones who are gonna have a falling out are Arin and Sora. It's gonna be revealed, maybe at some critical point, that he didn't actually do object spinjitzu to get them the win, and it's gonna destroy his self confidence as well as his trust in Sora.

They're gonna get all of the Forbidden Five out eventually, possibly by shoving more ninja through the gate. Which is fine, because the ninja will just meet up and come back through the Power of Friendship!

SO CURIOUS to find out what the elemental powers of the Forbidden Five are.

I was a little disappointed by the lack of Euphrasia though. I thought for sure she'd have a more major role this season, but she still remained a side character for most of it. Oh well, patience!

BONZLE. I did NOT expect her story to go this way. Still trying to wrap my brain around a sentient spell, but hey. It's Ninjago.

Love her so much though she's so precious.

Speaking of precious, ZANE. That's it. That's the whole thought.

No, I AM going to expand on that. Look at how he had such a vast knowledge of the Administration's rules and regulations. Look at how he stalled them with it. Look at the pride he had in helping them raise their efficiency by NINE PERCENT. IT COULD'VE BEEN TEN YOU GUYS. IF HE HADN'T GOTTEN RESCUED.

MR FROHICKY. I need that Frohicky plushie like YESTERDAY.

Also PUPPY COLE PLUSH WHEN

COLE. He's still protecting and trying to comfort everyone. What an amazing fight he put on at the monastary, almost a one-man army against the Adminstration's mechs, with Gandalaria's support. I bet his failure to protect Zane would have devastated him if Zane had been deactivated permanently. Fortunately Gandalaria knows more about nindroids than she should...

GANDALARIA! Endlessly positive and chirpy and disorganised. Like a more established Fungus. Wish I could be her. Loved seeing her dynamic with Cole being her straight man (hush, yes I know.)

So happy to see Kai get his focus for a change. Love Lloyd but he gets the focus like... every season. Kai needs the love. He's really cool this season.

Nya gets the least focus :( I miss her

WHY are all the ninjas' powers only as powerful as the plot calls for it :/ Zane's frozen way more than just a runaway mech back in the day!

I still think Ras looks too cuddly to be taken seriously as an antagonist. I mean would you not hug a Ras plushie? Look at those eyes. Look at that nose.

Is Ras's master a Source Dragon or the Overlord? OR BOTH?

Love Rontu, but she is such an archetypal (?) Nurturing Mentor to Egalt's Grumpy Old Master

I haven't talked about Jay, have I? JAY. Oh how my heart skipped a beat when he showed up pointing that gun/taser at Bonzle. I literally said out loud "OH NO OH NO OH NO".

I think that was the single most terrifying part of the whole season for me. I don't even know why it was so visceral. I think I was worried that his entire peronality had changed, though I don't know why I thought that, since in Pt1 he was literally playing video games instead of working.

So I was actually relieved to hear that he felt he didn't really belong in the Administration. Pre-merge Jay probably couldn't even fill out a single form properly. He probably had Nya or Zane or Cole do all the paperwork for him.

He clearly wasn't suprised that he had control over lightning. Why did nobody know about it? He's the kinda guy who'd use his powers for entertainment if he didn't have a good reason to hide them.

He didn't recognise his own ninja outfit D:

Lastly, the Finders - I'm also a little troubled by how Cole seems to put them ahead of his ninja family, but then again. He knows the ninja are all very capable warriors who can take care of themselves. On the other hand, for who knows how long, he had felt responsible for protecting his little newfound family. It makes sense that he would continue priotising them even after finding his old family.

In conclusion, Cole is such a dad :D

And to wrap it up, NEED PT 2 NOW 6 MONTHS IS TOO LONG TO WAIT NETFLIX /shakes fist

went to fushimi inari shrine nd some place i forgort the name of,, but we took a cool scenic train to that place nd then i ran up a secluded mountain for some reason nd made it to the top in like 20ish mins (call me jay the way i uhhh bjguhhh lightning speed) nd u could see yhe entire city from above

that entire area had lots of things like temples, shrines, town areas and bamboo forests,, i wantd to climb the rest of the mountain but i had togo back in time

Ninjago DR S2 Spoilers!!!

Ninjago dr s2 was soo good because it really reminded me of like the Oni Trilogy, which is my favorite group of seasons ever and i really appreciated the callbacks it made like in the Oni trilogy and OMG like it had really good animation and Cole is when hotter than before which i didn’t know could happen but it did and Galadrial??? Wizard lady? Yes please she’s so cool and her character design is mwah chef’s kiss and the Finders are so found family it hurts. Also theory for Fitz since he has a crow mask on his head and marking like Akira, he could be a forgotten formling? Which is pretty sad but maybe. Also the parallels between Lloyd and Arin and Wu and Morro???? Help??!? It is not good in my opinion that Lloyd is trying to be like Wu girlypop you do NOT want to be like him you know how his first student turned out and also apparently Arin learned Shatterspin??? Like the similarities between him and Cinder’s Shatterspins are ENDLESS. I also think that Arin has the FSM’s or Wu’s powers now bc he has golden powers and is ✨special ✨who else in Ninjago have we seen with golden colored powers? Wu and the FSM. Also WHERE IS PIXAL????? I have two of them ( A blue classic spaceman guy that i modified just a little bit and Cole from Ninjago I am a woefully predictable guy. Want to get the Emmet one too, the one that was made for the second lego movie(?) eventually. he looks so ugly. 💔 ) and they're so silly they look great, if a bit pleasantly misshapen, as all good plushies are, of course. The embroidered details look absolutely fantastic and bold and well done and they're great plushies overall but holding them is absolute agony why must they be so crunchy. Once again I am plagued by the curse of sensory issues. Why must something look silly and friend shaped but touching it being like rubbing paper towels on the nerves of my teeth. I desire to hold a little fella and yet I cannot, must be content with merely looking. 😔 Very uncool. Also for some reason there's no Zane one from my knowledge? If there was I would definitely have one but there isn't. Hence me having the Cole one he's my second favorite he's also Awesome. I don't know why, though? Looked a few times i can't find records of an official Zane one anywhere. Cowabummer. If anyone knows why there isn't one I would to know. It just seems like a strange absence, but that might just be a 'me being not normal about him again' thing than anything. Like, why, though? They have at least one of a good chunk of characters, even if they may be on the older side. So sad, no love for my favorite nindroid guy that's also very uncool. At first i assumed it might have be like a details thing where it'd be too hard embroidery wise to justify making; especially if they went for one of his more robotic designs and not a more 'human' cloaked one. Since the lines on his face might complicate things but Sora's is incredibly detailed design wise even for her face markings , and she has a plush. So , not really not sure what that's all about. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe it's more of a demand thing, which would be fair. Like, ofc there'd be less demand for him compared to like, Lloyd or Kai they're quite marketable, or for the newer main characters like Sora and Arin, in that case that makes sense to me. That's the most likely reason i'm assuming. Anyways C'mon Who do i have to bribe at Lego to make them consider making an official one for him. pspsps i'll offer up my soul. One wonderful vaguely human soul up for grabs pspsps c'mon. Not like I use it much anyways. I Yap about this often on other things i get stuck back on this like a broken record , if you can't tell already. Very normal about plushies. Totally don't think they're cool or anything. Sorry for the long yap session yes this is what I will post instead of spending time doing productive things, like making art or at least typing out a funny thought i am so sorry. Need to spend time better.

Jackdaw(s) at Lego Land real not clickbait

this was a sign, my arrival was predicted there were so many jackdaws i loved it

That last one is him climing on something called "Cole's Rock Climb", by the end of the day it was quite empty and going across it was very fun. It was quite small though, since majority of the other kids there were, like, 10 lol and there I was, going to LegoLand for my 18th birthday,,,

The way I saw where the Ninjago area was was via this laughing Wu, he looks strange here

We went on the Ninjago Ride, it was very fun, though we waited 45 minutes for a ~5 minute experience lol, all of those images are from waiting. Standing in the line also made me really want a red paper lantern of that kind for the big light in my bedroom. I never use my big light, so I might as well do something cool with it.

In the outside section, they were just playing Ninjago episodes. I correctly identified an episode as s1ep12 and I was so proud. Still am
