I think a lot about Leo standing up for his brothers in the things that really matter to them.
Like- Leo is the one who immediately pushes Mikey and Donnie into finding Raph the second it’s clear that their oldest brother is missing because he knows Raph can’t handle being separated like that.
Leo is the one who stands up for Mikey when Mikey wants to go on a solo mission, actively vouching for him and being the one to convince Raph into letting Mikey go, because being independent and proving himself just as capable of standing on his own two feet as everyone else means so much to Mikey.
And Leo defends Donnie’s honor in particular when his brothers’ intelligence is insulted because Leo is well aware of how important Donnie’s smarts are to him - and how important having those smarts valued and acknowledged is as well.
All this goes right into just how well Leo knows his brothers. For as much as he’ll tease or fight with them, he knows them, and he loves them.

I love the new TMNT movie, and I’m currently on the first episode of Tales of the TMNT.
So far it’s great, but I just feel like this whole universe is a little off and I think I finally know why. There is barely any Japanese influence left. they took away all the Japanese influence Splinter had by making him a random New York rat, and left us with a rat who only learned Japanese fighting styles from tv. That’s the only connection to Japanese culture he has. This then bleeds into the turtles and it just really takes away from the Japanese American influence the turtles always had.
I mean, even in iterations where Splinter wasn’t Hamato Yoshi, he was always connected to him. In the original story and in the 2003 universe, Splinter had intimate ties with Japanese culture. Now, he just…doesn’t. And it just feels like the story would be a lot better and more succinct if he did. But hey, maybe they’ll add more to Splinter’s backstory in the next movie since they are introducing Shredder. I doubt it, but who knows.
Anyway, Idk if I’m the only person who thinks this, but it makes me sad

Miraculous Fighting Scenes and Some Unique and Powerful Story with Ninjai

I will never be over Leo’s 4D chess play in “Many Unhappy Returns”. Like, just in general it is a spectacle to see this character who we’ve seen goofing around time and time again, who’s only sometimes decided to take things seriously, only to show him making a maneuver like that.
And here’s what gets me the most about his plan against Big Mama: he comes up with it on the spot. The second he sees that Big Mama has the solution they need, he’s already in game mode.
It is so satisfying watching the episode back when you realize his plan, because he literally sets the stage entirely for a decisive victory. He sees that the champion is a kraken, and comes up with both the solution to defeating it and a reasonable excuse to get that solution into the battle with them on the fly:
“Like your champ aaand those six guys. In fact, we don’t want this over too quickly. You should armor up those rookies. The whole shebang. Especially with these pointy helmets.”
And this is why giving him teleportation powers is perfect, too. He analyzes the battlefield and makes use of all the assets, moving pieces around to guarantee a win. It is honestly so impressive to witness and one of my favorite parts of his character.
