nimona made me cry really really bad especially when it got to her backstory and it was showing how despite the fact that she could be whatever she wanted she couldn’t be accepted by others. And when she finally found a real friend that accepted her for who she immediately lost it when gloreth’s family told her she was supposed to hate nimona and what she was. she was not born with that hatred, she was taught it.

1.nimona is just like me fr fr

My mother pointed it out,as well as me. But I had a different reason for why I thought she was like

The poor girl just wants to be herself,she just wants people to accept her for herself she doesn’t want to be seen as a slob,or a monster she just wants to be herself and for people to not hate her

I have never seen myself more in a character and it hurts.also she’s just like so persistent and In the annoying funny way.she was complete chaos and I freaking felt myself so much in her

2.ballister and ambrosius were so gay and cute

Like I cried so much during this movie and the thing that made my cry is much was the end,and one of the reasons was bc I saw a gay couple being cute and domestic.I want more animated gay couples to settle down and be domestic and lovable and have a daughter with an identity crisis

3.nimonas true form

As much as it will probably be referred to as a true form that big black cloud monster thing isn’t her.she doesn’t have a true form.and even tho she doesn’t put right say it the whole time she’s telling us what she really is

“What are you” “I’m Nimona”

That’s it.that’s all she is,and nimona isn’t just one thing it’s everything and anything nimona wants she truly is just nimona

4.how did the death thing work

Nimona did of course “die” in the movie sorry spoilers but she didn’t truly die and while I haven’t been able to think why she didn’t completely die it makes me think it has to do with her low tolerance to pain.the arrow in the leg,getting stabbed,so on to the full on canon shot. I think maybe it cause she can’t die when she doesn’t look human but that sounds weird so I’ll rewatch and try to figure out a better explanation to it

5.nimonas child form

It was somewhat obvious to me that nimona to form based on some emotions when it came to certain things. Like her child form came out in moments of vulnerability and extreme sadness,but she turns into an animal when ever she is feeling herself.but the animals along with the black cloud thingy at the end may also be a sign of defense putting a guard up to try and still be herself underneath it

Anyways Greta movie 10/10 made me cry

Ok im with people saying that Ballister and Ambrosius' "bitter exes" dynamic in the Nimona comics was funny and maybe (just maybe) a bit more interesting and nuanced that in the movie.

But as a closeted gay trans kid I have to say that I believe I've never seen a mainstream animation movie that was so entirely focused on a gay relationship without any kind of censoring or dancing around it

The movie was not only about Bal and Ambrosius's relationship, it was also about Nimona, about questioning societal rules and fitting in and the trans experience, and all of that also got to me HARD, but the fact that THE gay romantic plot (not even subplot bc it was blatant fgs) was so unabashedly and sincerely romantic and literally fr didn't have a straight explanation, and it was not a side thing that you could ignore or shove to the side or change a couple of lines of dialogue to hide just made me so happy and hopeful

I love the Nimona comics and I've always loved them, and in some aspects I like them more that the movie, but fuck If I didn't need to see a happy and sincere gay romance story in film to actually give me some hope for the future, Im so happy that this movie was made like this

I love thinking about the Nimona characters from the movie and comic meeting because in addition to the usual shenanigans of the Ambrosiuses hating each other (it would NOT be one sided, Comic Amb would think Movie Amb was a privileged spoiled brat and would be absolutely boiling with jealousy) there's so much other fun stuff like

-Comic Ambrosius not realizing that their Nimona is a different person since he never knew her well and immediately chucking his crutch at her because "fucking bitch is the reason I even HAVE a crutch" (Nimona would find his rage ceaselessly entertaining)

-Blackheart would love Movie Nimona and vice versa because "it's a version of my Little Buddy that didn't cause my boyfriend permanent disability and also massacre civilians" and "it's a version of my Boss who isn't a total fucking square let's go" (they love their real versions more but they would still get on great and it would be extremely refreshing)

-Blackheart and Movie Ambrosius MIGHT get along depending on if Blackheart is in a forgiving mood.

-The comic boys would be so passive aggressive the whole time like

Blackheart: "Wow babe this one said sorry after only a few weeks for cutting off his boyfriend's arm. How long did it take you again?"

C Ambrosius: "Jesus Christ LET IT GO"

C Ambrosius: "Wow babe that one had the whole Kingdom turn against him and drive him into the shadows and he managed not to become a villain. What was that about how you had no choice?

Blackheart (affectionate): "I will break what's left of your knees"

And additionally,

Boldheart, desperately holding back his boyfriend (foaming at the mouth) from beating a disabled person to death: "babe he's also a sad orphan who wanted to be a Knight and also had his weapon replaced he's just like me fr. I mean he's also a bitch but babe you need to calm down he can't even walk"

it really took nimona 1000 years to get over her first gay heartbreak…she just like me fr
