Small guide for Russian surnames and how they change:
1. Most of surnames are actually adjectives.
And as all adjectives in Russian they change by gender. You have red sun (krasnoye solntse /neutral), red house (krasnyy dom /masculine), red car (krasnaya mashina /feminine).
So it's only natural that Kristina Red and Arseniy Red would have different surnames (or even just nicknames). Kristina Krasnaya and Arseniy Krasnyi.
2. Rarely surname would be a noun. In such case the form not gonna change. If you have Alisa Raven and Kirill Raven, there would be same Alisa Voron and Kirill Voron. It doesn’t matter if the word is feminine or masculine and if it has alternative. For example, we have noun Cat. In Russian there is two forms of it that theoretically could be surnames, Koshka (fem) and Kot(masc). But a single mother Evgenia Koshka would give her son Nikita same surname - Koshka. (Not Kot). A woman married into a man with “Kot” surname, will get a Kot surname (not Koshka). So. it’s gonna be Maria Kot, for instance. 3. There is lots of adjective types, but for our purposes we would consider only possessive and none-possessive. Amongst possesive the most сommon is the one ending with -ov/-ova (or it’s variation -ev/-eva).They are called possesive ‘cause they all being derived from a noun are indicating belonging. Basically Starkov(a) equals Stark’s. Volkov(a) - Volk’s(wolf’s*). Morozov(a) - Moroz’s (Frost’s). Kapitanov - Kapitan’s(captain’s) Vasil’yev(a) - Vasiliy’s. Moiseyev(a) - Moisey’s(Moses’s). Solov’yov(a) - Solovey’s (nigtingale’s) There is variation of them with -in/-yn. Coming when word ends with A if I am not mistaken. Koshkin(a) - Koshka’s (cat’s)( Fun fact: Kotov - Kot’s). Galkin(a) - Galka’s (Jackdaw’s). Galitsyn - Galitsa’s.  An etc., etc, etc. You can create such surnames by yourselves with dictionary and some guidance. (You can ask me or someone on hinative.com or something) + here is generator of names (name, surname, fathername) https://planetcalc.ru/8678/ or just google генератор русских фамилий and here you are генератор отчеств (fathername generator) генератор русских имен (russian name generator) 4. Non-possesive adjectives. They are not so common and mostly descriptive. They are a bit tricky. For a masculine type they may end with -iy,-yy,-oy. And for feminine -aya. Such as Zel’onyi/Zel’onaya (Green), Bezuhiy/Bezuhaya (Without-ear), Bol’shoi/Bol’shaya (Big), Tolstoy/Tolstaya (actually... urm fat?), Chuzhoi/Chuzhaya(Alien, foreign), Vernyi. (Okay, I am too tired anyway maybe i’ll fix it later)
Tumblr media
I wanna cry each time I see "Alexander Morozova". It was pieced up by fans, wasn't it?
From his mother surname or something. (Please tell me it's not canon, Alina Starkov Is enough for my poor soul)
(Culture appropriation is sad, and if that's how chinese and japanese people feel each time someone does "East-themed" work... I feel deeply for you. It's such a disaster. The book generally and fandom at times)
Anyway back to the point.
There is a thing with surnames ending with -ov/-ova in Russian and related languages.
They are gendered. (As many others variants)
So let's imagine we have father of Alina who called Andrey Starkov.
Her mother Elena (before marriage let's say Seraya/Grey) would be Starkova.
If Alina had brother, he would be Starkov, but she is Starkova. (If you aren't inclined to believe me, google any Russian celebrity or sportsman)
There is strict rule: -ova is always woman, -ov Is always man.
ALWAYS. If we are speaking about who are born in motherland and didn't change their name.
So yeah for it to be adequate that's Alexander MOROZOV and Alina STARKOVA
(Someone please kill me)

Easy Studies for Guitar Vol.2 è adesso realtà
Il secondo volume di Easy Studies for Guitar, trilogia di pubblicazioni dedicate a composizioni del XX e del XXI secolo con scopi formativi e didattici, è adesso realtà. La serie di CD, annunciata nel Gennaio del 2016 è nata per puro caso durante l’attesa di un check-in in aeroporto mentre effettuavo delle impercettibili modifiche al programma di studio che applico nei miei corsi.
Il primo volume…

The guitarist, Mr. Illarionov, was new to the Frick and left most of the talking to his comrade. They enchanted the packed room with various transcriptions from Manuel de Falla and Igor Stravinsky. my dog likes it when i sing his nickname, Chewie-Bear, he gets so happy, and we’ve made up a lot of songs about him. On the other hand, he really hates Usher Waltz by Nikita Koshkin and recognizes the piece within a few seconds of me starting it and runs away.
Last night i was sitting on the floor with him, practicing, playing some Dowland for a while and then I decided to start Usher Waltz, but very quietly and slowly. and i sang his name in the melody.
the terror in his eyes. the absolute confusing and bewilderment as he wagged his tail and licked his lips in fear. he then ran and hid under the table. still wagging his tail.
