So I’m learning a new piece for Grade 7 and it is officially The Weirdest Piece I have ever learnt (Humoresque, Jean Absil, ABRSM Grade 7)

Note
The RNCM website has a load of pieces that are recommended for auditioning there (idk what standard you're looking at but these are for conservatoire entry auditions minimum post Grade 8) , including:
Paul Creating - Sonata
Phil Woods - Sonata
Paule Maurice - Tablaeux de Provence
Jean Absil - Fantasie Caprice
If you're looking for something of a lower standard, look at the pieces on the ABRSM website and you'll find pieces all standardised by difficulty (grades 1-8) from beginner to conservatoire.
Hope this helps!
do you know any solo pieces for alto saxophone that are advanced enough to play at auditions?
nope

Artist name: The Marcel Mule Saxophone Quartet (featuring various composers)
Album name: Music for Saxophone Quartet
Date released: 1968
Where I got it: Nice Price Books in Carrboro, NC (now sadly closed)
General thoughts: This shouldn’t be first on the list, but as composer Jean Absil is most prominently listed on the cover of this album, at some point I filed it under his name and the organization stuck.
This is a very interesting collection of works written for saxophones in the 20th century, from the 30s-60s. I love jazz and the other types of music that tend to come to mind when this instrument comes to mind but it is fantastic to hear it in chamber music as well. The soprano sax almost sounds like a clarinet at some points in the Absil piece.
My Favorite Part: The suite by Jean Absil that opens the album is my favorite piece, but there aren’t any notable low points. Any time the bari sax player gets to shine is a high point, of course.
