Another meet up!

Of all the mutuals I made friends in stan twitter, this person was the most unexpected one. I really did not expect that we will be this close and that we will get to see and meet each other in person.

This is Ate Dane. She's my Ate “Dae” in stan, but because we're close now, I call her “Ate Dane”. I actually knew her before like December of 2021 because of her JiKook aus, but I never really follow her account before because I want to read her stories first before deciding. But I guess fate has different plans because we knew each other because of a group chat in Twitter. It was full of JiKookers and there, I found out that she's also from FEU!

We actually don't have much conversations on direct message but we have a lot on our timelines. I also found out that she's listening to NIKI and keshie and that she's a Swiftie because she's talking about and praising Taylor! Amazing, right? That was when I knew we're going to vibe.

I was surprised when she personally message me on Twitter asking if I was a ‘Tamaraw’ and talked about meeting inside the campus and all that. Personally, I am not used to people asking me like “hey, I want to meet you in person and talk to you blah blah” and all that because I was always the one who ask first, but she did ask me. So I thought to myself, “maybe she's different from them” (me to me talking about “that ate”).

Our schedules didn't match all throughout the hybrid classes. She graduated from college and we still haven't seen each other despite being in the same school. I was frustrated at the fact that 1) I met her so late, I wish I met her earlier so we can see each other in the campus more often and 2) Ate Dane is such a cool and amazing person, I wish we can meet soon.

And there, fate finally allow us! She went to FEU to get something (I think that's her TOR) and it's funny because she doesn't want to come near me because she was “shy” (WHAT A SCAM, LMAO). I think we talked for more or less 30 minutes because she needs to get her stuff with her friend. I was anxious at first because what if after the meet up, she'll realized she doesn't want to be friends with me? Or like, what if I'll left her a bad impression of me?

But I was amazed at how we just clicked. There was no dead air, we kept on talking and talking! Plus, she gave me mango graham shake which is one of my faves.. and also because of her Left on Read story where Patriche really loves it too! It was also the time where I wished we had more time to talk because she gives off the vibe that I really like. There are people who are nice but just doesn't give the same vibes as you, but we vibed!

I hope Ate Dane knows how happy I was that I met her! Part 2, please? Hahaha.

Appreciation Post for some SMP characters and content creators. All this information is according to various DreamSMP members. All information was found either on cc discords, said on stream by various members, tweets made by members.

Eret preserving history by building a museum and making maps of the landscapes various times to show updated maps like old L'Manberg and now L'Canyon, Places the egg has spread, new builds like the prison and various hotels and fast food restaurants.

Phil going back to the bastion off stream for the wooden pickaxes after finding out that they're the og pickaxes from back when the server was just Dream and George wanting to explore the new nether update. Making them the oldest items on the server. As in they were on the server before Sapnap was.

Sam being the go-to lore guy. If someone wants to do lore Sam is always down. Ranboo wants his character to kick off at someone Sam's in VC. Connor wanting to do lore and Sam helping him. Etc (Also bonus is Dream willing to do lore unless he's in call with George or asleep after said call)

Most of the server will just join to help eachother collect things offline or help people make things for lore. I remember someone a few months back (maybe Ant) saying that Dream went and got majority of the nether material for egg lore in the middle of the first Egg appearance stream (Also the first Prison stream) and that Dream and Callahan were using incognito to build it around the server whilst people were streaming without looking like someone's online placing it.

People going to rebuild destroyed houses and fix redstone issues both onstream and offstream just because they can.

Hbomb making L'cast so people can find out more about the members as well as introducing Hbomb to people more. (He tends to invite one person he knows and is comfortable enough to invite and the second person is someone the first person gets on with and Hbomb doesn't know as well.)

Most of the people being invited by Dream because he wants to help boost them and thinks they're talented or are recommendations from people who are already members, for example Wilbur recommended Niki and Dream was super nice invited her and make it a point to involve her and talk to her (according to Niki) The only exception I know is Hbomb who asked if he could join because he thought it would be a good way to get to speak to people outside of his usual group or mcc teams and he was half joking think that Dream would say no but Dream just sent him the IP after MCC.

Puffy starting the trend of adding (lore) in the title of streams to make it clear what's lore and what's not. She started the trend of telling people straight up what's lore and what's not.

Techno starting the trend of adding signs to fanart to promote artists and their work so people's @ would be seen by everyone watching streams and vods.

Them (mostly Eret) watching animatics and fanmade edits on stream to promote artists.

Dream making and using @/DreamFanart on twitter to promote artists by retweeting and liking fanart to boost them. (Creating a whole new account so all art is together and it doesn't clog up his main and alt account)

Them all raiding eachother to boost views and introduce people to other members. Mainly the biggest viewed members raiding the lesser viewed ones to boost them up.

Them always watching each others streams and gifting subs as well as donating. Essentially just giving eachother money.

So this is going to be a post for my personal blog, but since it does concern Puffy and her mcyt meetup, I’m also reblogging it on puffy updates. 

Disclaimer

The reason that I’m writing is because I do know that some people in the mcyt fandom (whether it be on tumblr, twitter, youtube, reddit, tiktok, etc.) are quite young and see some of those content creators as role models. This post is mostly for those young fans that are easily impressionable. Nevertheless, if my words end up changing a content creator’s behavior about this entire situation, then good for them. But if they decide to carry on with their life as before, I won’t get upset. I don’t know them, so for all I know they may take extra precautions against the pandemic behind the scene. 

Additionally, I will mention some individual content creators by name in the post. I don’t want any hate to be spread toward them. If by some chance they end up seeing this post, I want them to know that I highly respect each and everyone of them and that I don’t have any ill feelings toward them

Finally, sorry if this is long and not concise. I just feel like I need to get this off my chest, and it is two in the morning where I am.

I’m a young adult that is a fan of mcyt. As some of you on mcytblr may know, my favorite minecraft content creator is Captain Puffy. I love her content and personality, and I personally identify with her since we’ve shared similar struggles in life. That being said, I actually don’t agree with everything she does in her private life, more particularly with her decision to go to the uk and to vidcon (which is now canceled) during the pandemic. But once again, that is her decision, and even though I don’t condone her decision, I wasn’t going to attack her for it. 

Yesterday evening, Gee Nelly threw a birthday party; Puffy had just arrived in the UK when she attended, and other ccs (like Minx, Niki, Wilbur, and Jack, just to name a few) attended. They weren’t wearing masks, nor were they socially distancing. Some fans found out that the party was happening, and they were rightfully upset, especially considering the fact that recently Tommyinnit had gotten covid, that VidCon got cancelled because of covid, and that London (and the UK in general) had seen an increase in covid cases.

Now, before I talk about my own opinion, I would like to clear up some misunderstanding that I’ve seen on twitter. For approx. the last four weeks, you no longer have to quarantine once you arrive in the UK if you arrive from the US and are fully vaccinated. In that regard, Puffy wasn’t doing anything against UK guidelines. Additionally you are no longer legally required to wear a face mask in the UK regardless on whether or not you are vaccinated. In other words, except if someone present was actually sick with covid, then no one was doing anything illegal.

Now, here is what I have to say about this. First of all, I could care less about restrictions and guidelines. Anytime I’m in public, indoors or outdoors, I’ve been wearing my mask since March of last year. The day I’ll stop will be the day that we’ve reached herd immunity, and we are nowhere near that. 

However, almost no one think the same way I do, which kind of leads to my second point; I’m not surprised at the choice made by any of those content creators in attendance. I wasn’t expecting anything more from them, for the good and simple reason that everyone in my town is doing the same thing as them. However, this doesn’t change the fact that I’m disappointed in their decision and that I would have loved for them to think more critically about this and to realize that it wasn’t a good idea. 

But relatively speaking, there is little importance in what those content creators decide to do during their free time. What matters more is how we react to it. This fandom is at a point where they look up at content creators as practically perfect in every way. So of course, when a content creator messes up, individual fans will react in one of two ways. 

The first way is to replicate the content creator’s mistake. This is harmful to all since neither the fan nor the content creator realize that this action is a mistake. This eventually leads to the normalization of the mistake, and once someone else realizes that it is a mistake, it may be too late to fix it. 

The second way is to completely shame that content creator for that mistake. This is also harmful for both the content creator and the fan. For the content creator, this situation is stressful since they may not fully understand what exactly they did wrong. For the fan, the existence of this mistake goes against this perfect image they’ve looked up to; this will feel almost as if the entire world collapsed, because in a way, their perception of the world did indeed collapse.

As a fandom, we’ve been going with the first way for a while. We’ve tried to justify Tommy’s vlogs, Ranboo’s trip to the UK, and the Karlnap meetup. Those of us that disagreed with this behavior (myself included) have decided to stay quiet and tried to be excited and happy for them. Now that covid cases are rising globally, that conventions are cancelled, and that content creators are getting sick, we decided to start being more vocal about our disagreement. For anything from the wi-fi going down to computer viruses, folks would call on Tubbo for help. Eventually, Tubbo just made little programs he called Worker Bees and installed them on everyone's tech who wanted them, which were basically virus/malware defense and extremely helpful versions of Clippy that would walk them through basic troubleshooting

- Sam's love language is 1000% gift giving. Most of the time, this manifests as him making tiny redstone contraptions and leaving them in folks' bags for them to find later. They're usually personalized to each person, as well as little useful things he works on in his spare time that he sprinkles around the base. (CNN)A Drexel University professor tweeted that he was "trying not to vomit or yell about Mosul" after he watched a first-class passenger give up his seat for a uniformed soldier on an airplane.

Many on Twitter responded to the professor's comments with anger and outrage.

George Ciccariello, associate professor of politics and global studies, posted the tweet Sunday on his private Twitter account. CNN obtained his tweet from a retweet someone else posted publicly on the social media platform.

One critic said Ciccariello "is exactly what's wrong with American institutions today. Fights for free speech unless it contradicts his views."

Another criticized the professor's past tweets and bemoaned the fact that Ciccariello is "deemed worthy of educating young minds."

Ciccariello responded to the reactions to his tweet in a Facebook statement, saying "my tweet has since been fed into and misrepresented by the outrage machine."

He said he didn't support the invasion or occupation of Iraq and found the gesture of giving up a first-class seat to a soldier "smug and self-congratulatory."

Drexel University, in Philadelphia, responded to his tweet, saying the comments "were made outside the classroom, are his own opinion and do not represent the university's views" in a statement to CNN.

"Drexel is committed to and vigorously supports our ROTC students, students on active duty and reserve, student veterans and alumni who have served in the military," Drexel University Executive Director of Media Relations Niki Gianakaris said in a statement.

This isn't the first time Ciccariello has come under fire for a tweet from his personal account. On Christmas Eve 2016, he tweeted, "All I want for Christmas is White Genocide."

Reports on the tweet popped up on several conservative websites, and the hashtag #WhiteGenocide was trending the next Monday morning.

In response, the university said it would talk to him about his comments, according to CNN's previous reporting. The university also said the genocide comments were "utterly reprehensible, deeply disturbing and do not in any way reflect the values of the university."
