ok today’s thought is nonverbal/mute Evan. and Barty who has never shut up a minute in his life, actually the loudest person you’ve ever met, and no one understands how they work so well together or how Barty knows exactly what Evan wants/feels/thinks from a single (seemingly expressionless) look. like. they’re at a restaurant. Evan simply blinks at the waiter with that slightly hollow doll-like gaze of his when asked if he’s enjoying his meal. The waiter’s like ummm? and Barty rolls his eyes and scoffs like “what are you not understanding obviously his soup is too fucking cold” etc etc. in a non-au ppl think they use magic to read each others minds or something but they’re just like that

So what was the point of bringing Tommy/Lou back for Season 8?

To teach Buck that things weren't always as good for queer people? To make him fall for someone again-truly, for the first time since Abby- just to make him lose it all again?

What was the point?

Because all it was 30 seconds of flirting, an episode of Tommy being an amazing boyfriend and falling in love with Buck on the spot, and then pulling the most contrived connection shit, giving us and him hope for the future, and dropping the floor under us.

With broken promises of hints about Tommy's father and his want to be part of a found family-like what the actual fuck was the waiting at the hospital when Denny was injured scene, Tim Minear???? What was the actual point of it?

The graveyard? The posse?

Literally everything in the last episode was pointless. This is so cruel. And it is SO cruel to Buck.

He was scared. A feeling he only began understanding after he met Evan. Fear always seemed an inadequate description of his emotions. Barty knew anger and rage. He knew hunger and desire.

Then there was Evan. 

Now, he knew obsession, lust, and apparently, love too. They all mushed together into something tight inside his chest and weird in his stomach. But it wasn’t unpleasant. He craved it, ached for it, wanted to be consumed by it.

But fear? That was unpleasant. That was unwanted. 

Death had never been relevant. Until the day it got close to Evan. Too fucking close. Close enough for blood to be the only thing he could smell. He had never hated a color as much he despised red that day, all he wanted-

“Barty?”

He felt warm hands touching his face. Evan’s hands. Evan. 

“All good?” 

He allowed himself to breathe again.

Evan’s steady heartbeat felt like Barty’s own personal lullaby. As much as he detested feeling scared, being known and being loved seemed like a fair price to pay.

“Yeah, all good,” Barty replied as he pulled Evan closer.
