I accidentally brushed against this lil guy last summer! My arm hurt like crazy for a couple of days, but what a cutie, right? Could you tell me what it is? Found in Tampa, FL :3

(the flannel caterpillar post reminded me of this encounter! wasn't sure if it was the same guy though)

Definitely a southern flannel moth caterpillar! And you unfortunately found out why you're not supposed to touch them. Bad luck you brushed up against it, hopefully it wasn't too terrible.

A friend came to join me for lunch! Could you tell me a little about him? We're in Tampa FL!

WEEVIL TIME. It's a broad-nosed weevil in the genus Pachnaeus, probably a blue-green citrus root weevil. As the name implies, the larvae feed on the roots of citrus plants and are only considered a minor pest, as in they don't do a ton of damage.
