ohhh I am so hyped for the nifexchange reveal. I've been trying not to look too closely at items as they come in, so I too can be surprised on the 25th, but I have seen so many delicious tags/summaries in the last few days 👀

Definitely forgot I even made this for my giftee at Nifexchange2020 for a little while. “baby, you’re a fiiiirework”- Lin Chen/Changsu, a post-canon reckoning. This comic is definitely inappropriate for the workplace.

My gifts from NIF Exchange and Yuletide!
I was lucky enough to receive the most beautiful gifts this year from the Yuletide Fanfic Exchange on AO3 and the Nirvana in Fire Winter Exchange!
I wanted to share them with all of you because these are some amazing pieces of work, both art and fic. And I love these people so so so much!
梅郎[mei lang]by @lunarflares
This is a gorgeous piece of art, which Luna perfectly justified. I had requested some BDSM for our MCS and Jingyan, and she delivered beautifully with some sensual MCS wrapping his Jingyan in plum blossoms. I WAS SCREAMING for a looooong time when I saw it, and it just made me so happy. YOU ROCK GIRL.YOU ALSO MADE MY VOICE HOARSE.
All That You Need to Say by kitsunealyc
This fic left me speechless because it hit ALL MY SPOTS. I had asked for a time-travel fix-it fic for MCS and Jingyan with hot sexytimes, and darling kitsunealyc delivered on all fronts! Time-travel, great plausibility, a crossover character I have great love for, identity porn, and a very passionate relationship. And 15,000 words of it! I was raving because it was beyond all my dreams. Thanks a lot!
So this year has come to an end, and it has been mainly about NIF and writing for me, a bright corner in a year that was frankly a bit...trying. I have discovered so many wonderful friends through this fandom. I feel blessed to have everyone here. (I’ve also written 5 fics myself for these exchanges, will pimp them later :P)
Thanks and please do go experience these works! They are amazing and deserve all the love! :P

unfortunately what I had not factored in when agreeing to organise the nifexchange is how profoundly I don't want to have to explain the concept of fanfic (or at least, my involvement therein) to my parents
I have been performing some matrix-style dodges so far to explain why I keep squinting anxiously at my phone but I sense an awkward conversation in my future

Nirvana in Fire Fanwork exchange is a fun fandom event where we build community through our creativity! This event takes the form of a Secret Santa: a fanwork exchange in which each participant gets to create a gift for a fellow fan, as well as receive a gift from a fellow creator!
This exchange encompasses all types of transformative fanworks across Nirvana in Fire and Nirvana in Fire 2: The Wind Blows in Changlin. As with every year, based on feedback, we are implementing a few changes. Please read through all the information carefully.
TIMELINE

MANDATORY CHECK-IN Nov 11 . SUBMISSION DEADLINE All works to be posted on AO3 in the NIF exchange collection Nov 18 . GIFT REVEALS Nov 18-25 . GUESS THE CREATOR GAME Nov 25 . CREATOR REVEALS Who can participate? ANYONE interested in creating/receiving Nirvana in Fire 1 &/or 2 based fanwork is welcome to participate! Our goal is simply to have fun creating and exchanging NIF fanworks! If that’s something that appeals to you, come play! Be aware that spoilers will abound, so if you haven’t finished the series, proceed at your own risk. For anyone who is interested but has limited time/bandwidth and might not be able to commit to the exchange, you can still participate in the fun! + HELP OUT as pinch-hitter, a beta-reader and/or a c-picker (just like Britpickers but for Chinese elements). SIGN UP HERE + CREATE TREATS! Once the prompt list is revealed for public viewing, anyone, signed-up or not, can create something(no minimum!) based on any of the prompts that inspire them and post them under our NIFTREATS2020 collection. More cake is more cake! What kind of works are welcome? This exchange welcomes ANY AND ALL CREATIVE MEDIUMS. Any fan, no matter their skillset, is welcome to participate. Ideas of mediums include but are not limited to: Fanfic, Poetry, Fan Translations, Podfic, Fanart, Crafts (embroidery, modelling, cosplay, dolls, jewelry, etc), Manips, Fanvids, Filk, Gifsets, Fan Music, Games, etc. What’s the minimum requirement? Because ANY medium is welcome, it’s hard to put a clear measure on this. We will therefore operate on the honor system and trust you to use your judgement. Your general guideline is to create a completed original transformative fanwork for your giftee, of a quality that you would be happy to receive yourself. As a general guideline: +500 words minimum for fic +5 minutes minimum for podfic In order to increase accessibility, we also ask that any images-based works please include an alt-text, or written description for screen-readers.
If you have questions/concerns, please contact us at [email protected].

NIF EXCHANGE AWARDS 1st edition
WHEN?
UNTIL JANUARY 25th, 2020. Winners will be announced on February 5th, 2020.
WHO CAN PLAY?
Everyone and anyone at all.You do NOT have to have participated in the NIF exchange to nominate or vote for your favorite works. Creators, betas, treaters, pinch-hitters, cheerleaders, readers, lurkers, absolutely everyone is welcome to play!
We do however ask you to comment while signed into AO3. In the event you do not have an AO3 account, you can comment as a guest but please sign each comment with the same username/email, so that we may keep track of your participation and contact you if necessary.
HOW DOES IT WORKS?
All works, including treats, from the 2019 NIF exchange collection are eligible to be nominated for various award categories. (With the exception of any works tagged “NIFEX AWARDS OPT-OUT”.)
Nominate your favorite works for an appropriate set award category, or make up your own free category. Other participants can agree with your nomination by adding votes for that work in said category. For each category, votes will be tallied at the end to see which work had collected the most, and be declared the winner of that category. There are no limits on how many categories a single work can be nominated for. Simply put, go nuts.
To nominate a work for a category, simply comment on a work.
To help mods out, please include at the beginning of your comment this phrase: “I nominate this work for (name of category) in the 2019 NIF exchange awards.”
Once a work has been nominated, if you agree with this nomination, you can add your vote to that work in the specified category. To vote, comment on the work and include this phrase: “I vote for this work in the (name of category) for the 2019 NIF exchange awards.”
Obviously, you are HIGHLY encouraged to elaborate in detail, in your comment, on why you have nominated or voted for the work for that category.
OOOOH, WHAT DO WE WIN?
Love and appreciation and bragging rights!! Perhaps banners if mods can muster it.
WHAT ARE THE CATEGORIES?
You can nominate works using this list of set categories, or make up a free category of your own:
SET CATEGORIES

Most original overall work (applicable to any medium) When votes and nominations are all tallied, works may also be eligible for:
Most overall nominations
Most different category nominations
Most overall votes, all categories confounded
FREE CATEGORIES
If these 25 set categories do not fit a work you wish to honour, or if you have something very specific you want to honour in a work, you are more than welcome to make up your own category, be it serious or completely silly. The exact same nominating and voting procedure applies.
For example: “best use of the word shenanigans”, “most likely to be made into a podfic” “Most likely to cause dehydration” “Caused reader to stay up latest reading it”
OTHER FAQ
How many nominations can I make for a single work?
To give the maximum number of works a fighting chance, please make a maximum of 2 set category nominations and 2 free category nominations per person on a single work. (max of 4 nominations)
There are however no restrictions to how many votes you can cast in other categories (nominated by other people) for that same work.
Also, there are no limits to how many category nominations a work can receive overall, provided no more than four nominations are made by the same person.
How many votes can I cast on a single work? As many as you like, provided each vote pertains to a different category. Even if you cast multiple votes for the same work in one single category, your votes will still be counted as one unique vote for that category.
Example:
You nominate Gift by Santa for the “Sharpest Knife” category and “Best Jianghu” category. You also nominate it for “best mother hen Li Gang” free category, as well as “best trolling of MCS” free category. This is the maximum number of nominations you can make on this work. You just love this work so much, you also vote for it in the “best MCS” “best introspection” and “best use of flower arrangements” categories, nominated by other people.
Can I nominate many different works for a single category?
Hell yes! For example, if anything Zhan Ying is your jam and you want to nominate all works with ZY for the “best Zhan Ying” category, you are more than welcome to do so. You must comment on each of these works to do so.
Can I nominate or vote anonymously? Sorry, no. We do require you to be signed into your AO3 account to participate in the awards. If you don’t have an AO3 account, please sign each comment with a username and platform where we may reach you, and use the same one across your comments. (Ex: username @ twitter ) However, nothing prevents you from still leaving anon feedback for the creator!
Can I, as a creator, moderate what nominations I accept on my work?
Yes. If you wish to have control over which nominations made on your work you accept or not, set your commenting preferences to “enable comment moderation”. (Edit your NIF exchange work, scroll down to Privacy and check the “enable comment moderation” box)
This way, you will see each comment privately first and can choose to make them public or not.
I am a creator and I do not wish my work to be part of these awards. That’s totally fine! If you do not wish to receive any nominations or votes, please include the tag “NIFEX AWARDS OPT-OUT” in your work’s tags. This way, people will know not to bother you.
TELL YOUR FRIENDS AND COME PLAY!!
If you have any concerns/questions/suggestions, do not hesitate to communicate with mods at [email protected]
