Hi, Dr Who Is A TV Show believers, I have some Corrie info for you. Susan Twist plays Lydia Hartman, a minor character linked to Nicola Rubenstein learning the truth about her parentage (more specifically, her mother was sexually assaulted by her father, serial killer Pat Phelan).
Nicola comes onto the show as the social worker for Seb Franklin, who Pat has hired as an apprentice at the builders yard/is allowing to live with him after his mum overdosed and his siblings were taken into foster care. Pat later tries to kill Seb and blames it on Nicola. Nicola herself kills Pat when he attacks her son with Gary Windass - who is Kelly's (Millie Gibson) foster dad.
I find it interesting how Susan plays a character involved in a storyline with some obvious similarities to Ruby's - the mystery parent, the fostering, Millie Gibson's character's foster sibling being attacked - and while that could be coincidences, it seemed worth mentioning!
#polly rambles#doctor who is a tv show theory#doctor who#ruby sunday#gatwa doctor#also worth mentioning that kelly is involved in seb being murdered (the hate crime happens after she slaps his gf and she gets blamed for it#because she was there trying to stop the guys from attacking seb and his gf)#so seb is pretty closely linked to kelly here!

WWDITS + Name Meanings
Nadja - Slavic and Arabic name which means “Hope”
Laszlo - Hungarian version of the Slavic name Vladislav which means “Glorious Ruler”
Cravensworth - Origin and Meaning Unknown (At the time of posting. I will try to find the meaning at some point)
Nandor - Hungarian version of the Germanic name Ferdinand which means “Bold Adventurer”, “Brave”, or “Peace.”
Guillermo - Spanish version of the English name William which means “Strong-Willed Protector” or “With Gilded Helmet”
De La Cruz - Spanish surname which means “of the cross”
(His name translates to Protector of the Cross which I think is super cool.)
Colin - A diminutive of the Greek name Nicolas which means “Victory of the People” or a Gaelic name which means “Pup.”
Robinson - An English name which means “Son of Robin.” Robin is a diminutive variation of the Germanic name “Robert.”
(In Season Three, he is briefly referred to as “Colin Rubenstein”, implying that he (or whoever he was with at the time) changed his name to an English one during the immigration process, which was common in the 1920s. Rubenstein is an Ashkenazic (Germanic) name which means “Ruby-stone.”
Bonus (I know she’s not a major character but I love her:
Marwa - An Arabic name meaning “Flint Stone”
I might do more for other side characters if people like this. I would have added The Guide, The Djinn, The Baron, etc. but their names are, of course, self-explanatory.

The Roman Catholic Church: A Centuries Old History of Awareness of Clerical Child Sexual Abuse (from the First to the 19th Century)
Contrary to the commonly projected belief by ecclesiastical authorities and mainstream media, the Catholic Church has in fact a well-documented history of clerical child sexual abuse (cCSA) since ancient times. These concerns have continued to be addressed at different time intervals in the history of the Church through enactment of various organizational laws. It is interesting to observe, that the history of cCSA is not an issue limited to the twentieth century history of the church as reported in modern media, but rather as old as the church itself.
[...]
Anderson (2004) contended that scandals involving priestly sexual misconduct and sexual abuse of minors had periodically appeared throughout the history of the Church with the greatest reported occurrences appearing in the 11th, 12th, 14th, and 15th centuries. Doyle et al. (2006) argued that the 20th century cCSA crises in the Catholic Church were the most recent manifestation of a problem which had plagued the Church since its inception. Indeed, Daly (2009) held that the Church had always been aware of the sexual abuse of children and that such abuse at the hands of the clergy was treated to be especially evil. Wall (2017b) expressed the view that the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) had remained aware of child rape and sodomy by its Bishops, Priests, and Religious for the last 1700 years, with Sipe (2005) indicating that Church officials had known for centuries that a large number of clerics had been involved in cCSA.
[...]
Rubenstein (1999), however, reported that in the second and third centuries abusive clergy were moved from one province to another, even after they had been ex-communicated for their indulgence in sexual abuse. Crabtree (2009) noted this trend of shifting priests was consistently applied over time, as witnessed in the modern world today.
[...]
Anderson (2004) found that St. Peter Damien (later declared “Doctor of Church” in 1823 AD), in his letter to Pope Nicolas II (61.14:217–18), warned him that his failure to discipline his bishops would bring upon him divine punishment. In his letter to Pope Leo IX, (31:7–8:287) he viewed clerical sexual abuse resulting from lack of discipline in the Church; as the priests commanded and seduced minors to perform sexual acts. Anderson further contended that St. Peter argued that those bishops who did not depose sexually abusive clerics were providing them with opportunities to prey upon those under their care, and their failure to enforce discipline was bringing the dignity of the ecclesiastical office into disrepute.
[...]
Plante and McChesney (2012) highlighted that St. Peter Damien in the ‘Book of Gomorrah’ (1051 AD) urged for a stronger response and decisive action from the Church against homosexual, and sodomite clerics indulging in sexual abuse of children, while raising significant, and numerous failings on the Churches part to address the issue. St. Peter viewed the practice of taking no action against sodomite priests as adding fuel to the fire, thus opening ways for such acts to be committed freely.
[...]
Doyle (2017) rated the book of ‘Gomorrah’ as the most dramatic and explicit condemnation of forbidden clerical sexual activity and misconduct. He described the then Pope Leo IX’s action, in response to St. Peter Damien’s calls for uprooting the offenders out of the clergy, as similar to those of contemporary church authorities who have maintained a defensive approach over the issue of offending priests. That is, Pope Leo IX decided to dismiss only those priests from the clerical state who had offended repeatedly over a long period (Doyle, 2017), while taking no action against others. Rather, he stressed the need for repentance for them. This is an approach which has continued to this today and is evident from the behavior of the clerical administrative authorities at the Vatican in response to reported cCSA cases in the 20th century.
[...]
It can hence be argued that up till the 11th century, deviant sexual behaviors and acts of child sexual abuse, homosexuality, sodomy, and pederasty amongst the clergy were not only commonly known but thoroughly condemned by successive church and papal authorities (Doyle, 2017). Sexual activity amongst clergy, however, remained commonly practiced largely due to the leniency and absence of the will to implement relevant laws as demonstrated by the actions of Pope Leo IX, subsequent efforts of Pope Alexander, and the payment of a concubine tax amongst clergy in the 11th century. Although the relevant laws in the first millennium fully condemned deviant clerical sexual behaviors, there is no evidence for existence of any institutionalized mechanism to implement the penalties according to relevant laws.
[...]
Although the ‘Instruction’ (1866) upheld the organizational management mechanism of the Church in dealing with sexual activities of clergy and their indulgence in child sexual abuse in light of 1741 instructions, it established an end to any role for secular authorities in Church matters through imposition of absolute secrecy before, during and after the proceedings of the ecclesiastical courts. It also provided, what can be termed as a safe passage to the offending priests through confession and exhibited no concerns for the pastoral care of victims, a practice witnessed by the response of the clerical authorities in the modern world. All the instructions quoted above make no mention of any supportive action or process of healing for the victims.

By Alexander Rubenstein
Even as U.S. President Donald Trump seeks to inspire a military coup against the elected president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, evidence is mounting that the U.S. government is enabling American mercenaries to violently quell a popular uprising in Haiti.
MintPress News previously examined the parallels between the uprising in Haiti and the Yellow Vest movement in France: both explicitly take aim at the economic oligarchy and government austerity policies; both have been the subject of violent crackdowns by the police; and the governments of both countries have gotten a free pass from Washington and its sympathetic media.
Five Americans and three others were arrested in Haiti on Sunday after they were discovered transporting a cache of weapons. Haitians have been engaged in an all-out uprising against the government for the past 10 days.

Hi Everyone,
I hope all of you enjoyed your summer and are staying healthy.
Here’s the latest court update. Its going to be brief because the legal documents filed by the lawyers were quite voluminous. So this is the cliff notes version of the latest legal arguments:
More discovery occurred behind closed doors because the defense now motioned for an “in limine” hearing. “In Limine” regards the admissibility of evidence in pre-trial. Defendants are arguing that many of the statements made by Rapp’s witnesses (particularly friends & coworkers) shouldn’t be admissible because Rapp told the witnesses about the incident years after the incident and their testimony is based on Rapp’s remembrance of the event years later. Also at debate was Rapp’s communication with many of these potential witnesses once the Buzzfeed story was issued.
The Plaintiffs are once again barking about Kevin’s place of residence & requested documents about locations of residences, businesses and business associates in Maryland & England (they’re still trying to prove he lives in England). They also wanted documents given to Kevin regarding the London Met police investigation and the communications log of emails that took place between Kevin & his PR team when the Buzzfeed article surfaced. Plaintiffs also asked for more personal information in their interrogatory to Kevin, but the judge denied it.
The defense provided declarations from Todd Rubenstein, Nicola Howson, Evan Lowenstein, Kevin himself and Oliver Peter Schneider-Sikorsky. All of the declarations have been redacted except for Sikorsky’s statement. Sikorsky is a lawyer at the firm BCL Solicitors LLP in London. He is Kevin’s lawyer in London regarding the investigation there. Sikorsky informed the US court that Kevin (or his lawyers) are prohibited from using or disclosing any document or object disclosed to them from a criminal investigation, per the UK’s Criminal Procedure & Investigations Act of 1996.
On Friday, the Plaintiffs filed a opposition motion to the in limine motion by the defense. They primarily state that Rapp’s statements have always been consistent & that his witnesses can be included per Federal exceptions to heresay evidence, particularly since Rapp is testifying in person. You can read those exceptions here: https://www.rulesofevidence.org/article-viii/rule-803/
The defense has until Wednesday, Sept 8 to reply.
There will be a video conference hearing to discuss the in limine motion and the defendant’s privilege log (his communications & list of associates) on Thursday, Sept 9 at 3pm between all the parties.
I have downloaded the Defendant’s original in-limine motion with testimonies & communications (zip file #78). And the Plaintiff’s opposition to in-limine with testimonies (zip file #94). If you can’t open anything, please let me know.

Any new court updates?
Yes. I'll post it soon.

Bilderberg Group meets just outside of DC as Deep State steps up war on Trump. Here’s the attendee list.
Photo: Public Domain
Top global political and business leaders of the Bilderberg Group will meet just miles from the White House this week, as “Deep State” actions to take down President Donald Trump grow more intense.
“The Bilderberg Group meeting in Chantilly, Virginia, will attract 131 elites on Thursday – from politicians and bankers to business titans and European royalty,” The Daily Mail reports. “They will discuss transatlantic relations, the future of the European Union and ‘a progress report’ on the Trump administration behind closed doors at the four-day meeting.”
It has not been revealed what the “progress report” on Trump means. Chantilly, in suburban D.C., is 30 miles from Washington.
Among those participating in this year’s Bilderberg Group meeting are Trump’s Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, Trump’s National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster, Trump advisers Peter Thiel and David Petraeus, U.S. Senator Lindsay Graham and Obama CIA Director John Brennan.
The meeting comes as leaks from within the U.S. government’s security community, intended to cripple President Trump, worsen.
“At least 180 federal employees have signed up for a workshop next weekend, where experts will offer advice on workers’ rights and how they can express civil disobedience,” former Clinton administration Labor Secretary Robert Reich gleefully notes.
“Federal workers are in regular consultation with recently departed Obama-era political appointees about what they can do to push back against the new president’s initiatives…,” Reich notes, “…The State Department has emerged as the nexus of opposition to Trump’s refugee policy, in part because it has an official dissent channel where Foreign Service employees can register opposition without fear of reprisals. The channel, formed in 1971, has been used to raise policy objections to the Vietnam War and other conflicts. Several hundred employees signed the dissent cable objecting to Trump’s refugee policy.”
