Nessie! What a throwback! If you don’t know them, here is a summary from fanlore. Every larry fic written in 2013/14 had nessie as side pairing lol. I don't think they dated. They are both from Mullingar and Bressie is like 13 years older than Niall. They're both in the irish London crew that used to hang out together. They are both directors of a recording studio. (and under Sony at the time). But never say never.

Niall has been in PR (or bearding relationships) with Hai*ee, Bar*ara Pa*vin and Sele*a, but also the fake Ellie Gou*ding drama. He also dated that australian larrie for a hot second, that one was pretty funny. There were plenty of hook up stories about Niall with women in the early days of the band. People also though he dated Amy in his friend group. It may all be fake or it is real. I have no idea.

Opening the Shiall theme, what about Niall’s gf? Do you think she’s a beard or they are really dating? Like until now I thought they are real couple but all those Niall’s queercoding theories and Shiall, I’m not sure anymore.

Oh and btw it’s funny how Shawn posted about how he’s in Paris attending Fashion Week and in the evening he was in London as Niall’s guest and nobody saw it coming. It’s just funny how these celebrieties can move under the radar and make it look like they are somewhere while they are anywhere else.

When i say i have no idea, i have no idea. He's publicly in a long term relationship with a woman, so that either means it's legit or it means it's bearding. It's not for PR. I haven't observed them together so i don't know how he acts around her, how his body language is around her etc. If he's bi/pan then i would think it would be very hard to tell if it's fake or real because i'd assume he'd be able to show attraction rather than hesitation/repulsion (like we see with H and L with women). I wouldn't have though a bi/pan man would need a beard, except if he was in a relationship with a man.

Niall is straight passing and don't fit perfectly into any gay stereotype. He's also the only 1D member who i've never heard stories of with men (true or not). There have been bi rumours about him since day one in 1D, but i think he's the first person anyone would point to when asked to identify a straight member of 1D.

On the other hand he is queercoding, with the one earring, the hanky and the men kissing t-shirt. He's openly lgbt+ supportive and the man is the opposite of toxic masculinity. He's also, to me, showing visible attraction to Shawn, a gay man imo. He's also shown behaviour towards other men that i struggle to understand if is attraction or simply deep admiration. So in short i have no clue.

About them moving around unnoticed. If there are hours enough in the day to make a trip, then you shouldn't rule out the possibility they did it. There are plenty of time to make a two and a half hour trip to London from Paris after attending a fashion show at 11 am to play a show at 9 pm. You'll have hours to spare as well.

This was very hot and also I loved how they handled the situation? That might be a weird comment for a fic like this but it’s an awkward position to be in, and I really appreciated how the characters communicated and dealt with things.

Uncharted Territory - Lalalaartje - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] - E, 3k - canon, fluff and smut. Okay, wow. So this author wrote this as a prequel to one of my fics, and I’m incredibly glad I managed to inspire them because now we all have this to enjoy. It’s five times the length and perfect and you should all go read it right now!

leave my heart open - temerity (forsanethaec) - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] - E, 29k - canon. To be honest, I forgot to make notes for this one, read it almost two months ago and have a terrible memory. But it’s a long, plotty, canon Nouis fic with angst and pining, you know I’m reccing it for a reason.

we'll be alright - bravestyles - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] - NR, 31k - desert island fic, canon, emotional hurt/comfort. Oh, the feels in this fic. I literally cried. It’s so, so good.

I Know How To Whisk (But Teach Me Anyway) - 2tiedships2 - One Direction (Band) [Archive of Our Own] @2tiedships2 - M, 32k - omegaverse, baking, strangers to lovers. You know you’re in safe hands with this author. This was cute and lovely, and left me rooting through the freezer for the banana bread I had stashed in there so I could dive even deeper into the story!

Week 162, Day 1129.

I just got back from my trip down south, which involved doing all things autumn with my mum. Firstly, we went pumpkin picking... at night... that’s right, we picked moonlit pumpkins at the spookiest of times, which is THE BEST TIME TO PICK PUMPKINS. Thank you to Tulleys Farm for arranging such a magical event during these difficult times. 🧡

We also went back to the picturesque Scotney Castle, which we went to see back in July, but wanted to see again in Fall. And it was so worth it.

It was a truly wholesome trip, the memory of which will keep me going through this next chaotic stage of work as I have a ‘to-do’ list that drops to the floor. I have an interview tomorrow for a short-term role within the university that I haven’t prepared for, a steering group meeting next week that I also haven’t prepared for, a conference presentation to put together, data analysis, and general thesis writing... Sigh. 

Shout out to a local tea shop ‘Snail and Rabbit’ for producing the best tea supplies that have been helping me through this PhD. It is much easier to sit at your desk and focus with a soul soothing pot of tea. ☕

In all seriousness, you have to really know yourself and your strengths and weaknesses to be able to direct yourself through the jungle that is a PhD, which also requires what my friend describes as a “veteran soldier type of self-discipline”. How each PhD student does this is their prerogative and all I can do is suggest some things that help me through it. This week I would like to recommend a podcast, which is centred around mindfulness in a way that is not the stereotypical ‘monk in the mountains surrounded by incense’ type of way, but a raw and honest account of the societal impact on our mental wellbeing. It is hosted by an Irish musician and author, Niall Breslin, who is nothing but a pleasure to listen to. It’s called ‘Where is my mind?’ - check it out.

PLAYING WITH FIRE

Bressie had been out visiting Niall on tour for a few days now, and fuck was he struggling emotionally. He and Niall were in Niall’s hotel room, just messing around for a few hours before their show. Bressie was sitting, leaning back in a chair next to the window. Niall had been a menace all afternoon, and Bressie was about to fucking lose it. He’d moved off the bed after Niall had gotten a little too touchy because fuck no, he was most definitely not gonna be getting turned on by Niall. He was still just a kid, and Bressie was certainly too old for him. So, he’d gotten up, moving away under the pretense of being too hot. Niall was sat, perched on the edge of the bed, staring at Bressie contemplatively with a slight gleam in his eye. “So Bres, had a really great night out the other day before y’ joined us,” Niall mentions, a smirk forming on his face. “Oh?” Bressie asks, intrigued. “Yeah, me ‘n the boys went out to this sick club, pulled a really fit lad too. He was actually a little smaller than you, though definitely not small anywhere else.” He wiggled his eyebrows, shit-eating grin plastered onto his face. Bressie stiffened at that, before rolling his shoulders and forcing a chuckle. “Good for you, Chief.” He gritted out, teeth grinding together. “Harry was well pissed too, got a little touchy, but that’s our ‘arry!” Niall chirped, watching Bressie intently, knowing the correct buttons to push. That Harry fucking Styles, fucking arse should learn to keep his hands to himself, Bressie grumbles to himself, possessiveness surging up within him. “Hmm.” Bressie let out in response, eyes narrowing. Niall’s grin widened as he got up to wander around the hotel room. He walked over to his suitcase on the floor, picking up a jumper he’d stolen from Bressie last time he saw him. He shrugged it over his shoulders, it draping just above his knees. His hair flattened, he pulled the hood up before launching himself back onto the bed. Bressie’s eyes tracked his movement, darkening at the sight of Niall wearing his clothes. His fists wrapped around the arms of the chair, clenching so tightly his knuckles turned white. Niall proceeded to cross his legs underneath him, elbows resting against his knees. His head resting on his hands, he tilted his head to look at Bressie. The jumper rode up, dragging the loose shorts he’d been wearing up with it. Bressie’s eyed darted to the exposed skin of Niall’s thighs, before he cleared his throat, turning his head sharply away. “That jumper looks awfully familiar pet,” Bressie stated, eyebrows raised. Niall blushed a little, hands twisting in the sleeves.
