Nikola Tesla:
Serbian-American inventor, discoverer, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, theoretical and experimental physicist, mathematician, futurist and humanitarian. Born at midnight between July 9th and 10th in 1856, and passed away January 7, 1943. Tesla was a hyperpolyglot who could speak eight languages fluently including: Serbo-Croatian, English, Czech, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, and Latin. He was known to have one of the most remarkable memories, being able to recite full books, poetry and mathematical formulas by heart. He claimed to have had a three-dimensional memory and thought process that helped him with building his inventions in his own mind without wasting any physical energy. He has more original inventions to his credit than any other man in history and has been accounted for 278 patents in 26 different countries. He is the true father of radio and a man far ahead of his time. He is best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electricity supply system that we still use today. His commutatorless alternating current induction motor led to an AC/DC war with Thomas Edison’s direct current system to see who would use their system to power Niagra Falls. Ninety percent of the entire electrical industry pays tribute to his genius. All electrical machinery using or generating alternating current is due to Tesla. High tension current transmission without which our long distance trolley cars, our electrified lines, and our subways would be impossible. The Tesla Induction Motor, the Tesla Rotary Converter, the Tesla Phase System of Power Transmission, the Tesla Steam and Gas Turbine, the Tesla Coil, and the Oscillation Transformer are perhaps his better known inventions. In his labs he conducted a range of experiments with mechanical oscillators/generators, electrical discharge tubes, and some of the earliest X-ray imaging. He is also the father of remote control, building a wireless controlled boat first ever exhibited in 1898. Although not recognized for, he was the first to discovery the electron, radioactivity, radar, cosmic rays, terrestrial resonance, stationary waves (standing waves), and the first to invent florescent light bulbs. He first demonstrated wireless energy/power by lighting his light bulbs wirelessly in a demonstration given before the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, 1893. He theorized a particle beam to be used for defense in war, and also a plan to produce an artificial Aurora Borealis to light the night skies for ships at sea. In his later life he wanted to bring humanity so much more with his inventions and discoveries, but lacked the investments and funds to finish his work on a large scale. Unfortunately, his failings to fulfill his dreams would leave him with the public persona as being the mad scientist with unrealistic ideas. He would eventually die penniless and alone in his New York apartment, but like all the greats throughout history, he lives on through all his inventions and contributions to this world.

1983 Porsche 911 SC (Niagra-on-the-lake, Ontario, Canada) $39,900 USD
You are looking at a Pristine '83 911 SC. Painted in a beautiful velocity yellow that flows right inside to a stunning black and yellow vinyl interior, it will be sure to steal anyone's attention. Powered by the numbers matching flat-6 3 Litre engine and 5 speed manual transmission, this Porsche will provide you with the performance you will expect. With only 5k miles on the build, this coupe hasn't even been broken in. The current owner has been lucky enough to own it for 6 years, however he wants to sell it to someone who will be able to enjoy it more often than he has been able to. This 911 will start right up, and it is an excellent driver. This is coming with no rust whatsoever as it has been garage kept and meticulously maintained since the vehicle was purchased in Charlotte, NC and restored. Equipped options include 4 disk brakes, P/w, Am/Fm, Cd, and heat. The vehicle has been fully serviced and needs nothing, as it sits on brand new continental tires and fuchs wheels. All records and receipts are available upon request.

Back in the Game after a Long Absence
Chris Brown, from St. Cloud, Florida, is not only an avid enthusiast but also the owner of Stand Out Customs, turning out several cool custom rides annually in his well-equipped shop. Although there are lots of reasons to transform a vintage pickup into a show winner, Chris’ primary motivation this time was to simply get back in the game. His last feature truck appeared in Sport Truck way back in 2002. Although he’s had several vehicles since then, he wanted to create one with enough style and engineering innovation to earn another feature article. This 1954 F-100 was the perfect project vehicle, partially customized when he found it, meaning he had a head start on his goal. Since F-100s already have great profiles, they just get better with a few traditional mods, like a top chop and body drop. The subtle angle chop on this one drops the lid by 3 inches overall with an additional inch rake toward the rear. The body was channeled over the frame, automatically snugging the rockers into close contact with the asphalt. Body mods continued the subtle theme with a tilt-forward hood, all-new chrome, new headlight bezels, bumpers removed front and rear, and a custom bed kit.
The truck was scheduled for a power increase so the frame was boxed for strength and fitted with a new millennium upgrade package that began with a four-link holding a Ford 8.8 rear with disc brakes. Since Chris couldn’t find a kit precisely tailored to the truck, he adapted a universal version, adding a Monster Notch for additional axle clearance. Up front, the 1997 Mustang front end gave the truck modern rack-and-pinion steering, along with disc brakes. In order to clear space in the cab, the fuel tank was relocated between the rear chassis rails. Although the truck had air when he bought it, Chris decided to redo many parts of the system, adding new bags, lines, and other elements until he had it his way. The Effie now uses Dominator II 2,600-pound double bellows bags up front and triple bellow versions in the rear, controlled by a pair of ViAir 450 compressors, an AccuAir manifold, twin 3 1/2-gallon reserve tanks, and paddle switches built into the center console. The truck became a roller thanks to ADR Technologies Sterling 22-inch rims with 30-series Desenti rubber.
Although the exterior was already painted a beautiful Niagra Blue when he got it, the truck was a shell inside. Starting from scratch, Chris designed the interior with the first step, trimming the Mustang bucket seats to keep them below the window line. He created a center console that runs from the dash to the rear cab wall, a perfect spot to hold the paddle switches for the air suspension as well as the Pioneer stereo. The receiver controls the Pioneer speakers in the kick panels, under the dash, and behind the seats. John’s Upholstery in St. Cloud added the perfect finishing touch, stitching the pleated interior using Camel and Tan vinyl for the seats, console, and door panels. Dark Brown carpeting covers the floor. A full complement of VDO gauges in a polished aluminum panel keeps track of the truck’s high-performance powerplant under the tilt-forward hood.
Beginning with a Ford 302, the V-8 has been stroked to 347 ci for some added punch. An Edelbrock 600-cfm carb and intake create the air/fuel mix, HEI ignition lights the fire, and custom headers feed a set of dual MagnaFlow mufflers. The C4 automatic transmission multiplies the power, fitted with a B&M shift kit and shifter. The truck was completed in less than a year of part-time work and Chris says it was worth every minute. It’s not only great fun to drive and even more fun to show, but it has also become a rolling calling card for Chris’ business. Sounds like a home run to us!
