Saturday, June 27, marks National HIV Testing Day (NHTD). Launched 25 years ago, the day aims to encourage more people to learn their status.
To help promote NHTD, Admiral Brett P. Giroir, MD, the assistant secretary for health at the U.S Department of Health and Human Services, recorded a video message, which you can watch atop this article.
“This year’s testing day’s theme, ‘Knowing,’ is about ‘knowing’ your testing options, including self-testing; ‘knowing’ your risk; ‘knowing’ your prevention options, including ‘Ready, Set, PrEP’; ‘knowing’ about treatment options; ‘knowing’ that together we can end the HIV epidemic,” he said. “But you can only benefit from ‘knowing’ if you take the test.”

Taking a new aide
Taking a new aide
I have to admit I am wrong this while I am doing my bionic gym. It is very difficult to do this while you are shaking. Forgive me In advance for grammar and spelling errors more than my usual. I know last week I told you about the wonderful aide I had that covered for my full time aide on vacation. https://multipleexperiences.org/2021/12/10/the-replacement-aid/. It turns out on Monday, my full…

According to the CDC, one in seven people with HIV do not know they have it. To help raise awareness of the importance of early detection and treatment, the editors of CID, JID, OFID and JPIDS have selected several articles to help support National HIV Testing Day (NHTD) on 27 June and its mission to “Test Your Way. Do It Today”.
“The Human Immunodeficiency Virus Continuum of Care in European Union Countries in 2013: Data and Challenges” by Annabelle Gourlay, et al. from Clinical Infectious Diseases (CID)
“Rapid Decline in HIV Incidence Among Persons Who Inject Drugs During a Fast-Track Combination Prevention Program After an HIV Outbreak in Athens” by Vana Sypsa, et al. from The Journal of Infectious Diseases (JID)
“Impact of an Electronic Medical Record-Based System to Promote Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Hepatitis C Virus Screening in Public Hospital Primary Care Clinics” by Matthew R. Golden, et al. from Open Forum Infectious Diseases (OFID)
“Patterns of Growth, Body Composition, and Lipid Profiles in a South African Cohort of Human Immunodeficiency Virus-Infected and Uninfected Children: A Cross-Sectional Study” by Sarah M. Ramteke, et al. from Journal of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society (JPIDS)

today is national hiv testing day. if ya want to inspire folks to get tested, then just say, “hey, hiv testing is a part of sexual health. here are a few places where you can get tested.” or you can say, “if ya thinking about getting tested today but feel a little scared, i am here to support you.” but chyle, please DO NOT post statistics about how black and latino gay men are more at risk than anyone else. it’s low-key victim blaming cuz hiv is an epidemic driven by poverty, racism, homophobia, transphobia and white supremacy.
so if any of you have any questions about where to get tested, what is the process like, or just need someone to talk to about maybe getting tested today or next week or whenever the hell you want, feel free to inbox me.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Americans might second-guess visiting their local clinic to find out their HIV status (assuming it’s even open during these quarantine times). But health care workers and AIDS advocates are meeting today’s challenges so folks can get tested where they feel safe and comfortable. Here are two unique examples.
The health department of Chatham County, Georgia—home to Savannah—will offer drive-through HIV testing from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in its parking lot at 1395 Eisenhower Drive; no appointment is needed.
Test results are ready in a minute and are confidential. Counseling is available, as is information about pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), the daily tablet that prevents HIV-negative people from contracting the virus. Plus: The event includes free gift cards and giveaways!

My week finding agencies
My week finding agencies
Well after my blog on Wednesday, I figured I better lighten things up a little. I just don’t know if I have anything light to talk about. It’s not that anything is necessarily bad but it isn’t that great either. I had terrible spasticity this week. My legs have been super stiff. It has made getting up out of my chair and bed difficult. It is very difficult to move when one or both of your legs…
