Taken but Not for Long AU!? I LOVE IT!! MK AND XIAOTIAN ARE SO CUTE!!

Now, in this version of the au, how do you think Wukong and Macaque would find out that Mk is not just a human boy?

Also, how would Nezha react to Mk up and vanishing from the orphanage? Unless Wukong brings him back.

They would be, SHOCKED. While they knew he wasn't what he appeared to be, when the glamor did finally come off, they didn't know what to expect.

But they were not expecting a Monkey. A monkey that looks like the spitting image of younger Wukong, WITH Macaque's six ears. Almost the same colors too....

It's impossible to look at this little cub and not immediately think "He's ours". Like, truly their's. No DNA test is required, especially considering it's about two months into living with them. So they've seen how MK reacts and his habits- which take so much after both of them.

The only thing is.... how??? why?? What is happening? This can't be. But his energy is free now. He is brimming with golden light in his soul, with dashes of purple shadowy magic... and the unmistakable ring of the Samadhi Fire.

Extra note:

I had a lot of fun with the eyes, if you couldn't tell XD Was working on a bit of a new look for them~. Also! The little ring of pinkish/red in MK's eyes (Samadhi fireeeee~)

MK and Macaque's ears are almost exactly the same color. The difference is the top ear. While Macaque has the colors Orange, yellow and Purple (MK, Wukong and Xiaoxiao), MK has the colors (Red, yellow and Purple) for Macaque (His facial mark color), Wukong and Xiaoxiao~

The past: Macaque's Reaction

(this is about my Forgotten Wukong au! feel free to look at the masterpost linked at the end if you wanna know more!)

Liu Er Mihou was the first to notice something happened. 

It’s been some years since his fight against Wukong, in which the Great Sage explained the best he could why he had to go through this pilgrimage and protect this monk. Mihou decided to give him one last chance and Wukong promised he will get home as soon as this Journey ended. Now Macaque is back on Flower Fruit Mountain hoping the King will keep his promise.

Macaque listens now and then in direction to the west, to know if the travel with the monk and the other pilgrims was almost done. The last time he listen what Wukong was up to, he was on his way to get his circlet removed by Guanyin after sealing the brotherhood in a scroll.

Finally! Wukong did kept his promise of getting back home after all of this was done! And about the brotherhood, well, Macaque wasn’t that sad about them. Sure they were friends, but not anymore, not after the fight against heaven and how they completely abandoned Wukong after it. Macaque still did try to find him and talked to him, even if the result was a smashed peach on the ground.

Mihou was still very conflicted about how to feel toward Wukong, they needed to have serious talk as soon as the King will be back on the mountain. But something wasn’t right, something was missing. Macaque couldn’t shake off this feeling of something missing, something big. Then he notice.

Wukong’s magic. He couldn’t feel it anymore.

Minutes ago he could feel it getting closer, feeling Wukong getting closer to Flower Fruit Mountain. But now, nothing. It vanished into thin air. And then he noticed the lack of sounds.

He could no longer hear Wukong's breath, or his heartbeat. Normally Macaque is able to hear it even if he is far away thanks to his six ears.

But now, there was only a deafening silence. He couldn’t understand, what just happened? 

Not wanting to alarm the other demon monkeys on FFM, he continues to listen, to find any hints, anything to ease his mind and to tell him that all of this is a cruel joke. 

His mind went blank. There was no way Wukong just disappeared like that. Yes, he still hasn't forgiven him for going with the pilgrims and how he abandoned him, but he never expected all of this.

No more than an hour later, Nezha was at the foot of Flower Fruit Mountain,asking to see Macaque or any monkey in charge of Wukong's kingdom.

Macaque was pulled back from his spiraling of thought when he noticed Nezha's presence.

Using his shadow to teleport to him, he told him he better have a good reason why he's there. 

Nezha told him about all the things the Jade Emperor said; how Wukong died from a powerful curse he got during his journey, that apparently one of the many demons he fought had a cursed weapon capable of slowly killing an immortal being . And now his staff became cursed and is protected by a powerful barrier.

“ …where is he?” Macaque ask. “I- I don’t know. They didn’t answer when I asked, only saying he got disposed of.” “What do you mean disposed of?! You’re telling me it’s only been an hour since he supposedly died and he’s already disposed of??!” Nezha sighed: “Look I know this sounds very bad, and I agree something is awry. That’s why I came here as soon as I could to tell you this. Apparently his body was emanating a cursed energy after dying so that’s why they acted quickly” “... this doesn’t make any sense.." macaque paused "and what do you mean by something is awry? I was sure you would agree to whatever Heaven decided to do”. “I am not completely blind to what they do. Not long before they announced this, I saw that a part of the celestial army left the palace in secret and they got back when the news was spread. Perhaps it is connected, perhaps it is not. But my intuition tells me something is just wrong.”

“...”

“I know we are not on good terms but I thought it would be correct to tell you all this. I need to go now , my condolence for your loss.”

Nezha left the mountain as quickly as he got there to go back to the celestial palace.

Macaque stayed in the same spot,paralysed, still processing all the informations. ________

The news spread like wildfire. And everyone was too scared to go near the mountain with the "cursed magic staff".

Time passed, and Mihou was still looking for Wukong whenever he could, while protecting and taking care of the kingdom left behind after the sudden departure of the King.

The Writeup (Part 2!)

Translation:

Literally the day after I published this post, new developments cropped up in the Nezha 2 fandom :D I thought it best to wait and see if anything ELSE could happen before updating this. Thankfully, I waited because things did happen. They sure did happen! So I'm popping in out of retirement (again) for one (1) day (again) to update this before the first fandom writeup becomes completely out of date. I appreciate all the interest given to the previous writeup and I'd feel bad for leaving it outdated for everyone that supported it! So here's part 2 to catch you up on what's happening deep in Nezha 2 fandom.

4-5 weeks in, and we have already have new shipping lore, shipping stat updates, and new fuel for the Ao Guang discourse battles. And it's somehow just as long as writeup part 1 🤣

I don't know how to warn for some of the things mentioned here, so just a blanket note of caution- if you read on, you are prepared to see anything and everything. PART 2 HERE WE GO:

Firstly, the general fandom is as creative as ever, and everything you can think of (and more!) has been written/drawn/discussed by somebody somewhere. I've seen Shiji Niang Niang bring Shen Xiaobao back to life, I've seen Ao Bing studying for the TOEFL, I've seen a Jane Eyre AU fanfic for Ao Guang/Shen Gongbao, I've seen Taiyi go on a diet, I've seen 1979 Nezha transmigrating into the 2019/2025 world, etc. etc.

The Lu Tong meme is also not even a meme anymore- lots of people seem to genuinely believe that randomly spamming any and all content featuring Lu Tong/He Tong with paragraphs of praise will result in them granting their wishes. So that's why you'll come across lots of comments with phrases like: "Lu Tong is the manliest of all men, the most powerful of all celestials, the strongest deer... please Master Lu Tong, grant me a raise from my boss."

Also, I didn't include these extremely cursed memes last time because I felt that they might cause people to die. BUT since everyone was strong enough to survive writeup part 1, I think you've proven yourselves strong enough to see these in writeup part 2--behold! Popular FAMILY GUY NEZHA edits:

These cursed images are popular enough that multiple people have made them their profile pics. That's not even the end of it...

Not only that, the fandom has also made "fusion" edits of the characters in the vein of the Nezha/Ao Bing fusion we saw in canon (as in, a Taiyi/Nezha fusion exists). If you wondered what things would be like if 1) Nezha possessed Ao Bing instead or 2) Shen Gongbao never stole the spirit pearl, wonder no further! Here is the answer:

Next, congratulations to lubao for completing the transformation from surprise crack ship to third most popular pairing in the fandom (4 and 5 probably go to Ao Guang/Shen Gongbao [longwangbao] or lutong/hetong [luhe] depending on the platform). Coincidentally, lubao is now no. 3 trending on weibo, beating out dilong. Professional cosplayers are also doing lubao cosplays for clout (to 10K+ likes on bilibili and even 100K+ likes across douyin, etc.). They even have their own animatics now. -> Every individual (main) character and ship has plenty of animatics; if you want to see them, just add the word "手书" (hand book) after whatever subject you're searching for. EX. For oubing animatics, just search for 藕饼手书, and many many will come up.

The lubao lore has also expanded since Feb.:

In Nezha 1, Shen Gongbao told Ao Bing he can teach him how to hide his horns in public. Lu Tong, as a deer, should also have antlers (as shown by his demon/animal form), but doesn't! This clearly means that Shen Gongbao taught Lu Tong how to hide his antlers with the same method he offered for Ao Bing.

Fans noticed that Lu Tong's eyes are brown in deer form, but as a human, his eyes are green- specifically, the exact same shade of green as Shen Gongbao's. They believe it means Lu Tong purposely turned them green because he took inspiration from Shen Gongbao's appearance.

They also noticed that in the post-credits, Wuliang and He Tong didn't seem to know where the underground prison was. Lu Tong guided them over. They believe this means Lu Tong was the one who brought Shen Gongbao into the prison and tied him up in the first place.

You can make the assumption that Shen Gongbao, Ao Bing, and Lu Tong all have the same hairstyle. Why? Because Shen Gongbao combed Ao Bing's hair (with the approval of Lu Tong's #2 enemy, Ao Guang), and he previously combed Lu Tong's hair. Out of love/obsession for him, Lu Tong has kept that same style. And now this is yet another thing Ao Bing STOLE from Lu Tong!

As of 3/9, Jiaozi put out this drawing of Shen Gongbao riding a leopard while acting as captain of the demon hunting team (to celebrate Nezha breaking the 14.6 billion record at the box office):

Since Lu Tong had that exact same pose, while also riding an animal from the same species, lubao fans took this to mean Lu Tong was again trying to copy everything Shen Gongbao did because he's just that obsessed with him.

As for fanon expansion, there is now a version of He Tong who is not only aware of Lu Tong's obsession, but also supports, abets, and contributes to his actions because she too felt abandoned by their shi shu. Now Shen Gongbao can never leave them again! Theirs forever! Too bad that pesky Ao Bing keeps getting in the way and doing annoying things like "saving his master" and "having morals."

And a little round of applause for Shen gonggong too for going from cartoon villain barely anyone cared about to earning the highest honor in fandom--becoming the resident whump angst pain machine. This was unofficial in the previous writeup, but now it's safe to call it official! You know his poor meow meow status is cemented when the average SGB-centric fsyy crossover is now, "Wuliang and his disciples torture the cultivation out of Shen Gongbao, seal his powers, and give him to King Zhou to do as he pleases. The royal court proceeds to treat him as some kind of party animal, all while using and abusing whatever's left of him-" (paragraph 1 of 100)

The average pre-canon story is also, "everyone except Taiyi tortures and mistreats Shen Gongbao at Yuxu Gong-" He's an alcoholic in these too, and he hates himself, and he's depressed and (insert any form of trauma here, he has it)- Someone said that they knew Shen gongong was doomed (by the fandom) the moment he showed up like That in the easter egg scene, and I think that person had the gift of prophecy.

Now for the main event! Dilong, Aobing Zhuan, and the reaction (or lack thereof) of Guangying shippers:

I'm not too familiar with Aobing Zhuan itself, so if you or your loved ones know more about the storyline or drama, please feel free to tack onto this post with your own links, writeups, and/or input!

Dilong fans finally had Enough of the nonstop harassment and put together gigantic takedown posts on why Aobing Zhuan sucks, featuring citations, side by side images, and so on.

In addition to accusing the author of using Yinglong as a self insert, they also accused Yinglong of being a genderbent version of Ao Guang (as he used to be drawn in Dilong fanart back in 2019). They pointed out that the author modeled toddler Ao Bing after her own goddaughter instead of his image in the movie. Said author has also gone on record saying Ao Bing is the "least charming" of Ao Guang's sons. Aobing Zhuan gave Ao Bing a healthy number of friends as part of the supporting cast too; when readers asked how this is possible if his first and only friend is Nezha, the author said "The friends are dead, so they don't count!"

The receipts also tell us that even though Ao Guang (and his siblings) made Ao Bing's coat in canon, Aobing Zhuan credited that to Yinglong. His martial arts also came from Yinglong, even though everyone knows it came from Shen Gongbao. And it gets deeper-- as the story goes on, Ao Bing has less and less screentime and barely any "cool" moments. The story becomes completely about his older brothers (specifically his second eldest brother, Ao Yi), while all canon characters are ignored or shafted. It also goes wild with epic wars, battles, and subplots that the movie never even mentioned.

This leads to the fandom nicknaming Aobing Zhuan "OC Zhuan" (and yes, they are using OC the English way. This is not the Tale of Aobing, this is the Tale of Original Characters not even made by Jiaozi). Another nickname is "The Tale of Ying" not because Yinglong herself has that much screentime, but because ABZ fans have spent so long harassing literally everybody else in the fandom while using her as an icon and constantly saying "look, you've made yinglong sad" "how disgusting of you to split up such a loving couple" "you're not allowed to ship anything besides the canon couple" etc. etc.. while spamming fans of literally every other Ao Guang ship with pictures of Yinglong.

Even in non-shipping content involving Ao Guang and Ao Bing, they'll constantly talk about Ao Guang's wife and Ao Bing's mother and how totally important she is to them + the story. Guangying shippers have also constantly used a mother's day screenshot (of the official Nezha account wishing Yinglong happy mother's day with an image of her and Ao Bing in ABZ) as proof that she's officially married to Ao Guang, and you are therefore NOT allowed to ship him with anyone else, including yourself. It turns out that screenshot doesn't exist- the Nezha weibo never posted it. Guangying shippers faked the image.

Someone even asked deepseek (or baidu?) who Yinglong is and it said, "Yinglong is Ao Guang's father!" (incorrect btw, but this is proof that yinglong has no mythological connection to Ao Guang anyway). Fans also noticed that Aobing Zhuan- despite having a physical publication- wasn't featured at all in Nezha 2 merchandise. Instead, there's a cute picture book featuring parts of little Ao Bing's childhood (with NONE of ABZ's events).

The book is called "Memories of the Three Realms" 《哪吒·三界往事》and contains little stories about the entire cast before the events of the movies. This book was promoted as part of Nezha 2's merchandise, so it's safe to consider it a direct tie-in with the franchise. Noticeably, Ao Bing's family in the book consists of only himself, his father, his master, his aunt, and uncles. No brothers, no mother.

So TLDR, Aobing Zhuan "fell apart" in the fandom's eyes because:

It directly defies canon ideas and events

Guangying shippers faked screenshots to make it look like the Nezha team acknowledged ABZ more than it actually did

The art style is "ugly" (imho, it's less that it's ugly and more that it's very off model when it comes to canon characters and just doesn't fit Nezha's art style)

ABZ constantly puts down Ao Bing/Ao Guang/Shen Gongbao in order to elevate its OCs

Ao Guang doesn't like Ao Bing very much in ABZ

The author doesn't care about Ao Bing and was only using his name for clout; the author exclusively only loves Ao Yi

Yinglong is the author's self insert and arguably a plagiarized version of dilong!Ao Guang. Ao Yi has also been accused of being a plagiarized design of dilong!Ao Guang. (imo, not so sure about how valid these particular accusations are because all three designs are commonplace throughout all xianxia art)

Ao Yi, Ao Jia, and Yinglong (Ao Bing's brothers and mother) are fanmade OCs and might not even have those same names if they appear or come up in the movies

ABZ attempted to make a love interest for Ao Bing, but backtracked after backlash from oubing fans

The Nezha team seems to want nothing to do with it

The takedown was brutal. The rest of the fandom, specifically the confused people who had no idea why other fans were going on and on about Ao Guang's wife (who does not appear in the films) and closet dilong shippers, went, "Hey, ABZ does suck!" Why did it take so long for them to notice it sucked? General consensus is that because the comic was not very good in the first place so nobody talked about it or noticed it. Now they notice because 1) guangying shippers shoved it in everyone's face 2) guangying shippers/ABZ fans bullied literally Everybody else in the fandom

Then overnight, the fandom turned on ABZ and all its OCs. Now it's considered #cringe to like Yinglong, Ao Yi, and Ao Jia. People regretted paying for the comics, people tried get it refunded, and people apologized to dilong fans for hating on them based on falsely believing they were "splitting" a canon couple (and not because idk, harassing strangers over cartoons is rude??).

Regardless, everyone who secretly enjoyed dilong now came out to openly enjoy it. Dilong rose to #3 trending on several platforms, and dilong shippers rejoiced for finally being vindicated after literally 5 years of harassment. I mean pretty offensive and terrible harassment (CW terminally online fandom harassment methods): mass reporting, being accused of being degenerates, being accused of being uNpAtriOtIC, being accused of TrEAson, being told they should have died in their mothers' wombs, getting doxxed and suicide baited. Multiple dilong authors and artists were bullied into deactivating. The harassment got especially bad after Nezha 2 came out, so-

The tables turning on Guangying shippers can only be divine karma at work. Now in videos of people bashing dilong shippers, you can see comments saying, "hey op you dropped your clown nose!" and "get with the times, OC Zhuan fell from grace." Unfortunately, this drama has led to collateral damage in the form of-

However, there are lots of big name cosplayers doing Yinglong and Guangying cosplays. These people spent Big Money on their costumes. Now they're being told that ABZ has "fallen apart" and Yinglong was just somebody else's OC this entire time. Yinglong cosplayers feel personally victimized and don't know what to do with their costumes now.

To add fuel to the fire, fans have been insulting Yinglong cosplayers in the comment sections of their videos. Ao Yi cosplayers are facing a similar dilemma. Which leads to-

Yinglong fans react + Dilong fan conspiracies:

You'd think this would lead to some self reflection on the part of Guangying fans or an apology to their victims or maybe some attempt to be on better behavior. But why do that when it's easier to double down and play victim!

ABZ fans and Guangying shippers now believe themselves to be the biggest victims in the fandom. They feel that the takedown was made in bad faith and several points don't even line up-- Yinglong doesn't resemble dilong!Ao Guang that much, Yinglong is not the author's literal self insert, the spinoff is still canon, Ao Guang loves his son very much in ABZ too and those calling him a cold father in ABZ are pulling panels out of context, etc. They think they shouldn't be judged just for enjoying a comic and multiple people have called on Jiaozi to step in and acknowledge the Drama. Indeed, they shouldn't be judged or harassed for liking Yinglong or ABZ.

But I'd feel more sorry for them if they didn't spend the past month bullying and lying to literally everybody in the fandom, ranging from spamming all Ao Bing content with guangying comments to threatening Ao Guang x anyone else shippers with physical violence. Even on the notes of the last writeup, we have firsthand accounts of their cyberbullying:

^This is the kind of thing guangying fans do on a regular basis. (I'm so sorry they harassed you over something so stupid! All 6 of them owe you a kowtow and apology.)

The Drama continues:

According to dilong fans, ABZ and guangying fans have gone quiet but not gone away. They've changed tactics and can now be spotted on random Ao Guang content commenting, "I wonder who Ao Guang's wife is! I'm so curious!" and on Ao Bing content saying, "Oh I bet Ao Bing misses his mother and brothers so much." This is allegedly an attempt to get new fans to ask them about Ao Guang's wife and Ao Bing's mother/brothers + an attempt to do damage control for ABZ now that it's uncool to mention it publicly. Personally, I think the dilong fans are right about this theory. Makes perfect sense to me, especially given everything else ABZ fans have done so far.

Next, tying back to the cosplay drama, dilong fans believe the people attacking Yinglong cosplayers are guangying fans masquerading as dilong fans. These guangying fans are hoping to harass enough people for something major to happen (conveniently taking the heat off of ABZ). Then the wider media will report on cosplayers being harassed by dilong fans, resulting in the wider public going "Nezha fangirls are so scary!" resulting in cancellation of Nezha ships (specifically dilong) altogther in a complete repeat of 227 (the date in which Xiao Zhan fans mass reported AO3 over a real person fic, resulting in the AO3 ban in China and the ensuing backlash that caused the absolutely most nightmarish time of poor Xiao Zhan's life). Is this there truth to this theory? I have no idea, but wilder things have happened.

And lastly, no, Fei Wo Si Cun (established web novelist that published a dilong mpreg fanfic on main, as mentioned in the previous writeup) has not acknowledged the Ao Guang discourse drama at all. Jiaozi and the rest of the Nezha team have also not said a peep despite guangying shippers' desperate attempts to reach them.

Update to add: there was ALSO some fight between solo!Nezha stans and solo!Ao Bing stans on weibo. It didn't have that big of an influence, but was certainly an Online event.

And that's the end of the ride for now. Nezha 2 is still playing in theaters. Nobody knows what will happen once it hits STREAMING :D after all, 命由我不由天!

Sorry this took a while to get to! I am feeling like getting back to writing and drawing again though, it used to help me feel better quite a bit and things are calming down in my life now. ❤️

As for NR Wukong? I decided to rewatch the movie again just in case. He's a complicated character, way more complicated than I realized. I'm planning to write for him more often too and that needs a lot of researching on my part. He's not exactly as he makes himself out to be sometimes (you can see who he really is around the scene when he reveals his identity, he drops the silly act and gets serious).

Sun Wukong in Nezha Reborn is very similar to his book counterpart if you pay close attention to his mannerisms and behavior. He's not a good person, but not the absolute worst either. He's a morally grey and cutthroat person who isn't afraid to get his hands dirty and he'll definitely say whatever is on his mind.

Wukong's a bit scary when you think about it. He ate another yaoguai, offered a piece of it to the guy who hired that assassin, he can move at speeds almost unseen, throw a dead dragon's body away by the whisker, and he's also a hitman... and yet, you two are somehow friends.

That being said... having a platonic relationship with him is going to be chill, overwhelming, or lively, maybe all three if you're unlucky.

It's not overwhelming for the reasons you might think it is, it's mainly because the dude needs to be in everyone's space. No seriously, when is he not close to someone that's in the same room with him? He'd be pretty clingy, probably hanging around (literally from the ceiling) near you if there's no one else around...he may or may not try to groom you if you have enough hair to do that as well. Just monkey business.

The Monkey King really lives up to his name and he acts like one too. Doing what he wants, going wherever he pleases...even if it's in your own home, he'll show up there eventually for whatever given reason, maybe he's just bored or maybe he's just trying to give you a good spook. What? He's a curious guy, he just wanted to see what his friend's place looks like. Don't ask how he knows where you live.

Oh did he ever mention he's bored and lonely? It's not good for a monkey to be alone for long, so you're gonna have to do for now! (lucky you)

Much like how he dresses, Wukong loves to show off what he has and places he goes. You've never been on a motorcycle before? Well say no more! Ol' Sun is going to show you around the place on his cool bike. It roars too! He's 100% going to make sure he's revving that thing as loud as he can just to scare you and get a reaction. Maybe scare a nearby stranger walking by too.

Probably pulls a few tricks on you here and there just cause. He may or may not have taken your favorite shirt and hid it somewhere up high in the pipes and returned it while you weren't looking just to mess with you.

At the end of the day though, he's not so bad to be around. Just try not to stir up any trouble with yaoguais or shady figures. The old king would rather not get himself involved with any affairs, but he cares, and he'll admit that if something happened to you it'd just be another scar over his heart. He's just so tired...

Li Jing's brash and cruel actions against the King affected him more than he was letting on. Especially for MK's sake. The kid was already going through so much, he didn't need to be worrying about Wukong on top of that. So he kept up a steel tight mask of a casual attitude, trying his best to not let any crack show through.

You, however, weren't so easily brushed away. You knew him better than Wukong sometimes knew himself, and that fact did often make Wukong just a bit nervous around you. There was a very brief pause in all the running and fighting, one where Wukong had distanced himself from MK and Macaque. He sure as hell didn't want Macaque making any snide comments right now.

You'd found him not long after he'd hidden, gently and carefully approaching him. "Wukong?" You began, sitting a few feet from him. Wukong gave you his default disarming grin "Yeah, peach? What's up?". "Are... are you okay?" You began, getting straight to the point "And I mean.. really okay. Not just 'surviving' or 'making it'". Wukong's grin faltered, and he looked down at the ground with a frown. "I... I'll be alright, hun. This isn't the first time I've had the world's worst crown on my head" he said. Though there was possibly a small attempt of humor in there, you could sense the genuine vulnerability in his tone.

You hesitated for a second, before reaching a hand out to him. He took it, and his breath faltered at feeling your thumb pet the back of his hand. He exhaled shakily, a hand going to the circlet. "There's really nothing we can do?" You asked, and Wukong shook his head. "No, I've tried. Practically takes a Buddah to do anything to this". You frowned sympathetically, putting your head on his shoulder. You could see his brow furrow, rubbing the circlet on his head. He remembered exactly how it felt. Being treated like a feral beast, like something to be caged and confined, to effectively declaw of his instincts. The first time it happened, at least he could admittedly understand it. He was quite literally a mass murderer back then, back when he needed the guidance of the Journey to end his borderline bloodlust.

But this was far different. This was blatant control. This was Li Jing trying to keep Wukong chained, because he knew the King was itching to settle a score with the man, especially after he got to talking to Nezha about how Li Jing acted. This was an act of malice, not protection. He could feel the familiar feelings from back then swirling in a sickly coil in his chest. Was he still dangerous? He did his best to learn, the Journey was proof of that. Maybe.. maybe all the trouble he was bringing was more than just coincidence. Maybe all these enemies coming back was a sign. He was dangerous. He was still that rough and undisciplined monkey who gnashed his teeth at any who came too close. What was he thinking, bringing this to MK and the others? To you? What kind of a partner was he, to let you fall in the way with his enemies? Maybe removing himself from the team would be better. Maybe-

"Wukong!"

The King was brought out of his spiral by your voice, cutting into his thoughts and adding a jolt of alarm to the mass of doubt he was feeling. He blinked, getting his bearings back as he turned to you. Your concerned frown hit him right in his heart. "I've been calling your name for like 30 seconds- where'd you go?" You asked. Wukong rubbed the back of his neck. "Don't worry about it, bud, I-"

"Please," You cut in imploringly "I know this is hard for you. I know that bastard has you backed into a corner, I... I'd be terrified if I were you. But you're not alone, love. I'm right here. I know I can't begin to imagine all the burdens on your shoulders, but don't be afraid to ask me to help lighten the load". Wukong took in your words, biting his lip to stop it from possibly trembling. He pulled you into a tight hug, burying his face in your shoulder and wrapping his tail tight around your waist. You held him in return, rubbing up and down his back in an attempt to comfort.

Wukong pressed his face more into your warmth, clearing his throat to make sure his voice was steady before talking "It hurts" he admitted "Worse than anything I've ever felt. Gods, it's terrible. I wouldn't wish this on anyone, I can't- I can barely deal with it. I just don't want the kid to worry. He has enough happening, I- I should be strong enough for us both". As the Sage vented, you brought a hand up to his head, gently petting through the fur there. "You are strong, honey" you said to him "But being strong isn't just bottling all this up. You'll always be his hero, Wu. But you're allowed to be human, too".

That last line struck a deep cord. Wukong had lived among humans for years, finding comfort in their creativity and vibrance. He wanted to blend in with them for ages, to have the peace a human life away from the celestials and demons provided. He nuzzled into you, holding you closer "I'll... try. It's not that easy, but.. please, please stick with me. You're my own little sun, you know that?". You nodded, kissing his temple "I will, I promise. You'll be okay. We'll get that thing off of you soon. We're here for you, I've got you"

Finding comfort in your promise, Wukong calmed his breathing, holding you a little less tightly. He finally found himself relaxing, wiping his eyes as he let out a relaxing sigh. "Thank you, really" he said "We.. should probably head back now, huh?". You gave him a reassuring smile, standing and extending a hand to him. He took it, standing with you and keeping his tail wrapped tightly around you. As you two began walking back to MK, you kissed his cheek "Come to me whenever, okay? I'll never turn you away" you reminded softly. Wukong smiled, returning the gesture of affection "I promise, sunbeam"

Anyways new gods reborn is kind of ass /affectionate. I say this with all the love in my heart. Literally the entire last 10-15 mins of the film I was just repeating "this is so ass" under my breath.

There were a lot of really nice points that couldn't form anything cohesive. The movie sort of lost it's impact/direction after they deviated from class inequality to lyx's identity crisis HELP. Like yea I get it's supposed to set him up as a typical hero so him believing he was a 灾星 would like. "Hit" more ig. But it just falls flat. It's just there as a prop with no visible emotional weight

I can say that for almost anything tbh like su junzhu, hell even all the ppl that got hurt it just felt like OK. That happened. They were all just pieces to prop up hero lyx without deeply investigating why. Why does he want to help ppl? Well bc hes a hero that's what he does. Well now it's shallow circular logic help. I do like the acknowledgment of nezha's inherent/unintentional cruelty though, when hed disappear everytime lyx tried to help ppl, since i feel many 洗白了他

Anygays I feel the movie could've felt so much more emotionally real if they capitalized (no pun intended) more on the themes of class inequality/the absurd extreme gap between the rich and poor. Like yea if they did that it'd probably never be made and get censored everywhere but 💀 all the elements/vibes were there!! The 1920s jazz vibes with kasha dressed like a flapper with cn elements (qipao), the retro hong kong and old shanghai beijing old money aura. Perfect setting design to make the inequality idea work

Then they tossed it all for lyx's identity crisis and have it resolved by affirming him in a stereotypically masculine affirmation way like oughh damsel to save, ur a hero yayy like ok. Might be biased bc I want to see de san and lyx beat the shit out of each other. Not that pathetic fight where de san got murked in like 1 min tops 😭 also at the end when he's like 法宝拿了 I cringed so hard omg can you not get anymore 直男

Ao guang and swk/macaque had really good designs though, especially swk. His attitude and character design is so memorable, honestly the entire movie was worth it to see him in motion.

𖤓 !! — Ne Zha can sometimes be a difficult guy to get along with; for all he is, a protector and a guardian and a friend, and all he can be, it seems that relationships tend to be the hardest for him to upkeep. It's just tends to be his nature to follow orders from the Jade emperor, his nature to take any job he's assign too seriously, his nature to be stand off-ish and cold.

𖤓 !! — It's how he was raised to be, from when he was born as a mortal to when he was reborn from the roots of a lotus flower and became the 'Third Lotus Prince'. Ne Zha hadn't exactly known a kind life, and despite everything he's been through, his first true 'friends' happened to be a ragtag group of Wukong, his successor, and everyone else who fought against the Azure lion. Even then he didn't really know how to interact with them, and furthermore making friends on the brink of the world being destroyed (twice) isn't the greatest situation. It often leads to choice words being said and sarcastic and demeaning undertones in the heat of stress.

𖤓 !! — So Ne Zha was fully ready to be left alone, once again, after the whole drama died down. Yet, when he was invited back to Pigsy's after he didn't show up to the beach day, he was kind of shocked. He half believed it was some sort of joke on him, a 'prank', another teasing gesture from Wukong. But he decided to go anyways, seeing as it would be rude not to show up when it was requested of him.

𖤓 !! — To say that people actually wanted his company was shocking would be an understatement. He was oddly moved by the voiced shouting to greet him, the chaotic nature of the whole gathering, and having people to finally spend his days with. It oddly felt like some sort of clean start. 𖤓 !! — "Hey, what's your name?" Ne Zha would perk up upon hearing the question, not recognizing the voice from anyone he knew. His eyebrows narrowed a little, mostly upon instinct, when he saw a stranger in a party that was meant to be only for close friends. So, either you, a complete stranger to Ne Zha, had crashed the party or you were a friend one someone's. But who would that someone be? The most logical answer would be Mei or MK, they seem like they would have a bunch of friends, and you did seem right around their age. Yet, that seemed too easy of an answer and you could be friends with a complete wild card like Tang or Wukong. The answer kind of mattered, it would give Ne Zha a basis of how you would be like. "Ne Zha." But he would answer anyways despite the uncertainty.

𖤓 !! — Well, he wouldn't know that answer really wouldn't matter much in the long run.

𖤓 !! — Oddly enough, since that day, Ne Zha swears he's seen you more times than he should; Almost like you've always been a background character in his life that only just got brought to light. It was both odd and endearing in an off-put way. As such, he never realized how much you really did hang out with MK, Mei, and the others. Whenever he would come down to help out with small tasks, trying to keep himself busy, he would notice your presence almost instantly (where, beforehand, he was sure he completely ignored it). It was an oddly magnetic presence, of siren-like-quality that lured him in with a wonderful melody. Your soul was a wonderful melody, he could feel it anytime he passed. Yet he could never let himself get distracted by such meaningless things, not when he has bigger things to do.

𖤓 !! — Not when he was sure that relationships between mortals and immortals are forbidden; The Jade Emperor never liked it when immortals mingled with the mortals anyways, hence why he tried to strike down Sun Wukong so many times and banished Gauyin when she went to live amongst them. So he could not have any relationships with mortals either. Not in the way he's been dreaming about, so he must distance himself from your all too alluring personality and smile, your kind ways and how you always seem ready to lend a hand. Siren-like, that's what Ne Zha forced himself to think of you as. You were nothing but a Siren that was created to tempt his will and strength and we was not to loose-

𖤓 !! — "You know, you shouldn't let yourself be chained to old expectations anymore, Ne Zha." Your voice, as smooth as liquid gold and as sweet as cotton candy, flushed into his ears one night during a bomb fire with everyone. He had parted himself from the group to take a breather, seeing as Sun Wukong was simply trying to annoy Macaque and everyone was having their fits of laughter about it. He never expected you to notice he had left, nevertheless for you to follow him like you did. Siren, the thought rang in his head, Siren, siren, siren! But his words would fall short as you stood next to him and hummed a small tune, watching the orange-pink sunset with such a peaceful way. "What do you mean?" Ne Zha would respond to your statement, trying to seem a little off put by it. Maybe, secretly, he was and he was just denying it to himself. He wasn't tied down by chains, he was his own person. "It's why you fail to make relationships with everyone the way that you want to." You would continue, tracing a circle along the rim of your cup. That odd detail caught Ne Zha's attention, "You're afraid that you're going to get attached, that someone will tell the Jade Emperor about your affairs, that you will be stricken down like the rest. But you know you don't have to worry about such things, right?"

𖤓 !! — Who are you? Ne Zha would stare at you with the most bewildered look, mouth slight agape, as he wondered if he was simply too easy to read or if you were some sort of witch. Surely he couldn't be easy to read, and Wukong being able to read him at times didn't count because Wukong was just odd by himself. He's also known Wukong for many years, while he hasn't spoken to you for even .1% of the time he's known Wukong. Yet you were able to read his thoughts like he was some sort of open book. "Are you a witch?" His question came out before he could think upon it; Though, he hoped you didn't notice the way he slightly jerked back and bit his tongue when his mind caught up to his words. He would glance away from you and from the sunset, yet he could hear your finger constantly tracing that circle rimmed cup of yours.

𖤓 !! — He expected you to be offended, to hold some sort of grudge due to his words, yet you only would stifle a bit of laughter before giggling at his words. That caught him off guard, and he didn't realize how your laughter cleared the awkward air around you both, as he glanced up to meet your eyes. "No, Ne Zha, I just.. I've heard about you from MK and Wukong." You would explain, "And I then began to notice all the small things you do to keep a barrier between everyone and yourself. I asked Tang and Wukong about it, and they, well, gave me some sad answers. So I thought, oh I don't know, I could help you?" Ne Zha wasn't sure how to respond to your sentiment, though he could tell you were true about your word. It was by the way you had looked up at him, the way your eyes crinkled ever so slightly in the corner, and your tone of voice. Ne Zha has met many people and you, by far, are one of the most unique.

𖤓 !! — He, also, couldn't help but feel touched at your countless efforts to try and understand him despite all he's done to keep you, and everyone else, at arms length. What kind of person would do that just so they could reach out to someone like Ne Zha?

𖤓 !! — He didn't fully let his guard or his walls down with you that night, but he surely let you a little closer to his heart. A little step closer to being able to fully understand who Ne Zha was as a person. A tiny step closer to being able to call yourself his. And, most importantly, the itty bittiest step forward in helping Ne Zha realize he can make friends now. That he doesn't have to be anyone that he doesn't want to be, that he can choose for himself; That he can be himself. And out of everything you have achieved with the smallest step of reaching out, that was the greatest one of all.

𖤓 !! — Being lovers with Ne Zha would be hard, and it'll take a lot of time, but it's something that's so worth it in the end. For once you get close enough to Ne Zha, though he wouldn't realize it, you would become one of his top priorities. You can call him, even pray to him, at any time on any day and he'll answer, and he'll be there, quicker than he had chased Wukong down once he stole the map. He's there for you through the thick and the thin, and in turn you're there for him equally as much.

𖤓 !! — Being lovers with Ne Zha is like being able to see the moments where he falters his 'big guy' persona and you get to see the true Ne Zha. Him and his little curiosities. How he'll stop and stare at a butterfly on a tree you had missed during your walk. How he cares so much about his friends, deep down, that he constantly checks Mei's 'instagram' through your phone to make sure they're okay. How he will sit in front of the stove to ponder how yeast can make bread rise. How he's so scared of losing you that he'll cuddle you against his chest at night, not aware on how tightly his arms (wrapped around your waist and chest) are to make sure you're still there. To see all his childish curiosities he couldn't think when he was a kid due to his 'destiny'; To see the way his face lights up upon trying new food and experiences; To see, well, Ne Zha.

𖤓 !! — Being lovers with Ne Zha is to truly be loved both inside and out, and loving him back just the same. It's timeless and effortless and neither of you would have it any other way.

Past-> The 2 of them had an almost co-dependency at some point, the ones that even when they argued they would come back to the other because they didn't had a healthy way to be able to solve their own issues by having me-time.

Present-> Macaque still goes almost everyday at his dojo, but Wukong sends one of his clones around midday to quickly check on him and give him kisses (although he gets jealous if the clone start to be too touchy.)

It was even to the point Wukong could barely be playful with you without Ne Zha stepping in like a guardian does.

You weren't as strict and stern as Ne Zha when Wukong knew you.

You humored his mischievous and playful nature.

You didn't mind when the mystic monkey clung to you, wrapping his tail around you as he chattered about various topics.

You liked to listen to his stories...

You liked him.

Yet when he was kicked from the Celestial Realm, Wukong rarely saw you after that.

In fact, he didn't see you until he needed the Samadhi Fire.

Granted, the monkey missed you more than he'd like to admit.

It's been years and even before he was banished, Ne Zha could tell Wukong was crushing on you.

Ne Zha always tried to discourage him from pursuing you.

But it's always hard to change Sun Wukong, The Monkey King's mind.

Wukong should've known Ne Zha would take a successor based on how he viewed you.

After all, Wukong took in MK.

He never thought he'd have to fight you.

Especially when the world's in danger.

Yet, despite his fears, Wukong meets you again....

He wants to be happy when he sees you...

Unfortunately, you're a guardian with Ne Zha now.

It pains him.

Your first encounter in a long time is when he's trying to steal the Samadhi Fire map.

You look much more mature and stern now.

It almost irritates him that Ne Zha tried to train you in his image... but he's also thankful you're safe after all this time.

Imagine if Wukong doesn't take your entire fight seriously.

Like usual he's playful, despite the stress he feels.

Considering his feelings towards you, he may even be flirtatious, complimenting you as he tries to get the scroll.

He has to cut out such behavior when Ne Zha makes an appearance, glaring the Monkey King down.

I imagine you, like Ne Zha, are going to get dragged into helping defeat Lady Bone Demon.

Know what that means?

You get to spend time with both your mentor and old friend.

While they get to fight with one another.

Ne Zha is not keen on the idea of letting Wukong close to you again.

He not only doesn't want Wukong's mischievous rubbing off on you, but he doesn't like the fact you fought the Monkey King either.

Ne Zha really is like an overprotective sibling to you.

You two may not be blood related, but you're both celestials.

Meanwhile, Wukong just likes to pester you both.

You the most, often bringing up the past and trying to coax you into speaking with him.

Why so mad? He's saving the world again!

Don't you care for him?

Until you defeat LBD, Wukong is no doubt given the cold shoulder.

Before he's possessed, Wukong is incredibly affectionate.

He's missed you, often clinging to you and introducing you to all his friends.

He even shows you to MK, acting like you and him are meant to be partners (mates?).

Only for you to push him away, shaking your head, saying you're just friends while Wukong pouts.

He's a very playful yandere.

Perhaps a bit delusional too.

Wukong, like most animalistic yanderes, probably also secretly scents you like a cat.

Each hug is accompanied by him rubbing his cheek against you with small chitters.

He used to do this years ago, too.

In this case it's also a display of dominance to Ne Zha, who just grows increasingly irritated when Wukong does something with you.

You get a break from his behavior when LBD takes control of Wukong.

The monkey had intended to protect you, only for you to save him with MK and the others.

When the LBD threat is gone, you are free to go back to the Celestial Realm.

In fact, Ne Zha encourages you to go back so you're back in his care and can continue your duties.

Sun Wukong, however?

You're practically tackles, the mystic monkey begging you to stay awhile longer.

Do you really want to go back to guarding the Celestial Realm?

You should stay here!

Wukong may even say you saved him, even when you correct him and say MK and the rest did most of the work.

You're so tired of Wukong pretending like there's nothing wrong between you.

You still dislike him and Wukong is still infatuated.

Imagine if Ne Zha decides to stay just so you're not out of sight.

He hates the idea of leaving you with Wukong.

You two may hate each other now, but he worries Wukong will try to convince you to stay out of the Celestial Realm at some point.

There's so much tension between you three.

You dislike Wukong, Ne Zha dislikes Wukong for the stunts he pulled recently, meanwhile Wukong loves you and finds pleasure in annoying Ne Zha.

Wukong would simultaneously tell Ne Zha to relax while nearly constricting you with his arms and tail.

Ne Zha is always on the brink of losing it despite how stoic he is.

Not surprised if the two physically fight when Wukong tries to coax you into staying longer.

Wukong is a clingy, playful, and possessive yandere.

Part of him is quite envious that Ne Zha still gets to have you every day in the Celestial Realm.

Meanwhile Ne Zha is protective and stern, constantly trying to shut down Wukong's behavior.

Wukong's so tired of this.

He wants nothing more than to pluck you from the Celestial Realm and keep you with him.

Why can't you love him back?

Why do you still focus on duty?

Why can't you be like you were before?

You barely even humor him anymore, just glare.

Wukong is determined to convince you to like, no, love him.

Ne Zha can try to stop him, but Wukong has always been stubborn.

Sun Wukong will find a way to make you his again, just like you were long ago...

Even if you hate him... you'll give in at some point once he breaks that wall of yours, right?

"You're not leaving me again, peaches... Never again...."

"Father-" Nezha's mech takes a step forward, metal clanging against the asphalt.

Li Jing swirls around, glaring with a gaze filled with both anger and fear. "SILENCE!" He snarls, lifting the pagoda in one bracelet-clad hand. "Do not make me subdue you once more, Nezha."

Nezha is no fool. He knows all of them can see him flinch, even through the layers of iron and steel. He knows all of them can see the spear waver in his mech's fingers, foot shifting backward out of defense.

Ever the savior, Wukong steps forward to his defense, brown-orange fur bristling. "Hey, what the fuck, Li?" He snarls, tail swishing in agitation. "Us I get, but your own son?"

Nezha's father raises his pagoda, glare tightening the wrinkles around his eyes. "You have no right to judge me, simian. Or shall I remind you-" the seal upon the circlet reactivates, and Nezha can only watch in horror as Wukong cries out in pain, dropping to his knees. The rest of his friends- can Nezha even call them his friends, with how little he knows of them?- try to resist the tug of the pagoda's magic, but their feet start to slip.

He doesn't want to go back to that lotus-painted door again. He doesn't want to be crushed and confined under a heavy floor again. He doesn't want his tongue silenced and his actions subdued again. He doesn't want to be trapped ever again.

...But isn't he now?

Trapped in compliance, frozen in time as he watches them lose this fight?

Nezha is no fool.

He knows he is a hound that has been muzzled and chained- he knew that when they took away his strongest weapons and raised a pagoda at him for harboring the slightest thoughts of disobedience. He has always known.

But for the sake of the trust MK talked of, for the sake of what Nezha once stood for- a two-handed spear breaks through the pagoda's cyclone, severing the magic. Nezha can only watch as the dragon girl yells for Mr. Tang, everyone staring at him with confusion and pity as a golden glow takes them far away.

He knows his punishment. He knows why the pagoda was created.

He leaves his mech, bowing his head before his father as he awaits what is due.

"...Return to the Celestial Realm."

He is given a mercy. An unexpected one, at that, but one that makes his bowed head sigh toward the asphalt with relief. As of now, his use outweighs his disobedience.

He watches his father take off toward the horizon, mumbling an apology as he disappears from the festively lit alleyway in a swirl of lotus petals. He knows what it's like to be a chaos child, destined for destruction- he can only hope MK will have a happier tale than he did.

"...So hey, are we just going to gloss over what the fuck just happened with Nezha??" Mei asks once she's back on her feet within the mountain cavern, gesturing wildly at Wukong to explain.

"He-" Wukong starts, then stops, scratching his arm. "His dad... I knew something about it, but I always thought people were exaggerating. Cause c'mon, Nezhy? I know he's got a temper, but that-"

"Monkey King, WHAT are you talking about?" MK scratches his head, leaning on Mei with a similarly confused expression.

Wukong hesitates, pacing against the stone ground of the temple, then sighs. He opens his mouth-

And is beat to it.

"That pagoda was created to subdue Nezha." Tang interrupts. He pushes his glasses farther up his nose, focusing his gaze on crumbling towers high above. "...I remember the story now."

When he's finished regaling the tale in a quiet tone, the Monkie Gang has reeled through a rollercoaster of emotions- anger, disgust, pity, sympathy, and rage. Pigsy rolls up his sleeves, marching out towards the nearest wall with a loud "I'm gonna go back and give that fuckin' 'father' of his a piece of my goddamn mind-"

Sandy lays a gentle hand on his shoulder, steering the chef back. "Pigsy. Not right now." He says, although nobody misses the clenched fist of his other hand.

Wukong sighs. "...I always thought people were playing it up, but... I guess not." He closes his eyes, trying to reign in the feeling of guilt bubbling up inside him. To think he bullied Nezha for it, not understanding just how conflicted he must have been... Most definitely not for the first time in Wukong's life, he feels like an idiot who failed a friend. But there's nothing he can do about it now- so he rolls his shoulders back, settling his bristling fur as he waves everyone towards the stone passageway. "Welp! Traumatic backstories aside, time to get the world-saving-adventure underway, everyone!"

As for Nezha... They'll all just have to hope he's alright.

The tineline of Wukong Macaque's mate bond is simple yet so very tangled. When they were in the Brotherhood, they had a very strong soul bond, one that had a deeper connection to each other than the other members of the Brotherhood. In fact, they did have proximity telepathy, something they did not share with anyone else in the Brotherhood. Many of the times they'd spent goofing off with the Brotherhood had them have a lot of secret conversations.

Macaque: *expressing worry about their plans*

Wukong: You worry too much!

Wukong: *mentally* Don't worry, Mihou. I'll make sure you're okay mo matter what!

Macaque: *mentally* It's you I'm worried for, idiot!!

However, during the fight under the mountain, the bond shattered with Wukong's heart being broken the moment Macaque uttered the words "obsessive demon" towards him. Macaque had already been in so much turmoil from everything he hadn't noticed it, but for Wukong it felt very much like a molten knife had stabbed into his heart and torn it out of his chest, leaving nothing but jagged pieces behind. He never realized that he had broken Wukong's bond until many, many centuries later.

During the Journey Arc, Wukong was hesitant to let anyone close, still feeling the sting from losing his mate bond. He may very well have never opened up to the Pilgrims, and it would have been mutual had a very persistent dragon not kept dragging Wukong into the fold! Macaque, who had spied on Wukong after his first visit to FFM, saw this and became very jealous. For Macaque he believed Wukong was choosing these STRANGERS who held him on a leash over him, especially the stupid monk who's hurt and broken Wukong's heart on multiple occasions only for his bond mate to keep crawling back to him each and every time!! The fight that broke out and consecutive death ended up solidifying this, shattering the bond in its entirety.

Over thousands of years and more losses later, Wukong had all but sealed himself away and refused to let anyone close enough to form a bond, still feeling the pain from loaing so much in sich a traumatic way. It becomes debilitating over time since a shattered bond doesn't just heal itself. Then comes MK. Despite himself, Wukong finds himself almost immediately forming a bond with his excitable apprentice, and any attempts to backpedal only end up amking them closer. Meanwhile, Macaque gets revived, unable to even feel the remnant of his bond with Wukong anymore. He's absolutely pissed and wants to ANSWERS for their missing bond on top of getting revenge for his death. When he sees Wukong had 'replaced' him with a young apprentice, he is further incentivized to go after MK.

Their first clash. For Wukong, it's an opening of all his wounds fresh and lashing out because Macaque was the one to break his heart the very first time. For Macaque it's further proof that his bond with Wukong was well and truly gone as he had reached out towards him throughout that entire fight only to be unable to feel even the slightest sliver of Wukong's emotions form how tightly Wukong had his mental and emotional shields up. Macaque comes to the conclusion that their bond had been forgotten, that HE had been forgotten. This continues into Shadow Play and then the fight on the airship, although he does very conflicted about how Wukong looked during that second fight and the fact he STILL couldn't feel Wukong's emotions then.

Then, the Samhadi Fire happens. This whole situation was MESSY it best snd even moreso in the bond au becasue Wukong was juggling the strained bond with Nezha he swore had been severed but somehow isn't and also everything going on with the Noodle Gang, Mei, and Macaque. The bond actually breaks between him and the Noodle Gang for a brief moment, shattered by his own hand out of fear when he leaves to confront LBD on his own.

However, during this time that the bond was resparked between Macaque and Wukong.

It was in this exact moment when MK was explaining how he'd never abandoning best friend and the two locked eyes that it sparked their connection again, and the first time since being revived that Macaque had felt Wukong, truly felt Wukong beyond the shattered remnants of the and that echoed through, and all hia pain and regret and fear. He was completely speechless in that moment from the sheer strength of the emotions he felt. So naturally, he did what he always did when he got overwhelmed.

He left.

Wukong took that as yet another rejection from his former mate. The pain of rejection and losing his bond with the rest, however temporarily, only fueled him in his fight with LBD, thus whe he was SO MUCH more brutal in this fight than any other... but Wukong ended up being distracted and then possessed. Possession is a terrifying concept in this au as it sort of FORCES a bond of sorts between Wukong and the LBD. LBD uses it to subjugate Wukong and maintain her control over him. However, MK had drawn upon his bond with Wukong the first time to reach him and that, paired the newly rekindled bond with Macaque, allowed Wukong to break free. During this moment he was an open book and Shadowpeach were almost at the same level of telepathic communication they used to be at before the Havoc.

Immediately after the LBD's defeat, Wukong is backpedaling hard, though. He is still terrified of opening his heart to Macaque again and in deep denial about the bond. He keeps his emotions as tightly shielded as possible afterward, but unfortunately for him, pretending it isn't there won't help this time. Pretending only makes Macaque want to mess with Wukong more. That's why he's hanging around FFM in S4.

In the memories is when Macaque feels the full scale of Wukong's emotions. Being that he's in Wukong's memories, he can feel all of memory Wukong's emotions. This leads to some revelations about his former mate. The heart to heart is where Wukong opened his mental shield to Macaque for the first time of his own volition.

Wukong being resistant to let someone inter his heart again, including his own mate, is so perfect and sad I love it <3

And MK accidentally wriggling into his heart and solidifying himself as Wukong's student/son-figure. :3

And Macaque!! Convinced that Wukong has fully rejected/abandoned him, only for Wukong to let his soul-guard down and Mac feels the longing and grief of over a thousand years hit him!!1

As you can imagine, everything post-S3 is a huge marriage counselling session for the Shadowpeach couple. Literally feeling your mate's joys and pains through their memories does that.

Afterwards, Wukong and Macaque have weaponized "couple's telepathy" that they use to dunk on future foes/annoyances.

lots of fun! theater was packed

theater is not showing Fengshen 2 but they are screening Condor Heroes? What gives? Condor Heroes but no Fengshen?

I'll never get tired of more fight scenes with Nezha and Ao Bing. The wheels... The spear... they don't seem to be a big fan of having him use the sash though. not badass enough maybe?

sad that AB only got to wield double maces for like one scene. Guess that's what happens when you don't have a body for most of the movie. I really enjoy that Ao Bing fighting hand-to-hand is all stylized forms and graceful poses but Ao Bing fighting with weapons is Hulk Smash

I'll never get tired of Big Nezha. All his lines and mannerisms hit different when he's 6 ft tall with six arms.

the translated names sucked ass. Deero? Crana? Even literal name translations like they did for Legend of Hei would have been better than this. Give those kids their dignity back.

End credits finally gave Lu Tong and He Tong some personality. Hell yeah kids stick it to that old man. I hope we get to see more of them in the next movie

I wasn't expecting it but the Shen Gongbao character development was good. Graceful shift from cartoonishly villainous to bitterly disillusioned. Guess he's assigned sexy bad boy character now.

Your eyes fluttered open to the sight of a stark white mane in your face, sunlight leaking through the blinds and giving your bedroom a warm yellow glow. You breathed for a moment, flexing the claws of your hands and feet against the soft mattress beneath you. You flexed your tail, feeling the warmth of the other body in the bed squeeze it tighter at its movement. With a grunt of effort you lifted your long neck to sit up, bleary eyes squinted as you smack your lips together. 

You look around the space of your ‘bedroom’, a metal loft lifted high above the ground and decorated with more plush furniture and blankets than anywhere else in the metal tower that was your home. Mini monkeys litter the space around you, many still sleeping in precarious positions on top of each other, but you spy a couple that are awake. They already have small piles of berries and meat from the fridge clustered together, eating to their heart's content as all the other monkeys sleep away. They give a delighted wave when they see your sleepy face. 

You raise a tired claw, giving a halfhearted wave before the pain in your muscles returns full force. Your morning haze fades away as you remember what happened the day before. The humans that invaded the Dragon Palace, being freed from your decades long confinement, seeing your mate again…

The aches in your muscles come from decades worth of movement and magic use, the demands of Ao Guang had been steep, and neither you nor your kin were allowed to say ‘no’.

The newest incarnation of Nezha had saved you, returning you and rain back to your home. 

You look down to the bed your long body is curled up in, circling the sleeping form of the Monkey King himself. Wukong’s back is pressed as close as it can be to your stomach, and both his arms and legs have a death grip on tail. Every puff of breath he takes means the tuft of fluff on the end of your tail tickles his nose, but he simply wrinkles it in his sleep before settling down again. His own tail is wrapped in loops around your waist, keeping him anchored to you even further. 

Your heart aches at the sight of him. 

His face is relaxed, his breathing deep and comfortable. Before you had been taken away he had terrible trouble sleeping, often spending his nights working to understand advancements made by human technology as a way to occupy his racing thoughts. The only thing that could get him to rest was you, your presence and scent helping lull him into the sweet release of sleep. Without you here, how many nights did he spend awake, struggling with thoughts of the past? Struggling to keep going when you weren't there for him? 

You shift closer to him, laying your neck back onto the comfy pillow nest you both had made the previous night. You felt his hands and feet tense up, digging into scales as he whimpered. You shushed him quietly, carding a hand through his wild locks to soothe him. 

It worked, his body going lax once more, until the sound of metal banging far below your loft area echoed through the building. 

With a start Wukong’s eyes snapped open, the monkey sitting up and looking frantically around your bedroom for an unseen threat. You jumped at the noise as well, your arms immediately wrapping tight around your mate as your heart raced inside your chest.

“Monkey! Where are you? I brought your bike back!” You heard a voice, the same one you heard yesterday when you were freed.

“Are you sure this is okay? I don't think an ancient god would appreciate us just breaking into his home like this.” An unfamiliar female voice followed after. 

You felt Wukong go boneless in your grip, falling back onto the mattress with a long-suffering groan. His hands came up to his face and rubbed vigorously, pulling at his cheeks as he officially woke up.

“Good morning.” You couldn't help but tease. He sent you a half-hearted glare, which wasn't nearly as effective with the way his gaze immediately softened.

“You're actually still here…” His sleepy rasp sounds beautiful, and your heart starts aching again. You brought your muzzle closer to him, pressing a soft kiss to his lips he happily returned. 

“I am.” You reassured yourself and him. You pulled away and brought a clawed hand up to cup his cheek, simply enjoying the fact that you could touch him again. So many years stuck in water, pressed between glass and scales, you had missed the feeling of fur so much. Wukong shuddered at your touch, and a single tear gathered in the corner of his eye, trailing down his cheek and soaking the fine fur. Your thumb swiped it away, and you kissed the corner of his eye for good measure.

“No more tears today…” You whispered. “I want to catch up on everything I’ve missed with you.” Wukong’s own hand gripped your wrist, and he turned to nuzzle into your palm. His soft lips pressed another kiss to your scales.

“Alright…alright, I can do that…” He mumbled. He opened his mouth to speak more, but the voices from downstairs came again.

“Monkey! Where the hell is he?” Wukong heaved a sigh with his whole body, shoulders drooping at the thought of having to leave your warm nest to talk to others. You smiled, watching as he threw his legs over the side of the bed and stood, stretching his arms high above his head. His tail, no longer hidden by glamor, stretched and curled as well. The tip of it suddenly flicked you in the nose, and you startled. The grin he sent you over his shoulder was devious.

“See something you like, sweet peach?” He teased. 

“Oh, always.” You purred. “Hate to see you go, love to watch you leave, Monkey King~” He cackled at your words, strolling nonchalantly towards the door to the loft below. He grabbed a golden robe hanging by a hook and slipped his arms through, tying the waist closed but not bothering with any other clothes.

“Uhm, aren’t you forgetting pants, silly monkey?” You called after him. Wukong took a moment to look at himself, then back at you and shrugged his shoulders.

“They want to interrupt my morning after I just got my mate back, they’re gonna have to deal with me not being presentable.” And with that he turned and walked out the door, your loud cackle following after him. You slipped from the bed yourself, standing on wobbly legs for a moment before heading to the wardrobe in the corner, still giggling to yourself. 

You threw open the flower and mountain decorated doors to see suits and robes and outfits of all kinds hanging neatly in rows. Your own morning robe hung on a hanger towards the end, right where you left it so many years ago…

Your eyes stung with unshed tears. He really hadn’t moved any of your things…like he had been living with a ghost. You took a deep breath to ground yourself as you slipped the fine silk on, the fabric falling neatly around the fins and bone lining your spine, splitting at the bottom for your tail to comfortably swing around. You tightened the sash to preserve your modesty, but ultimately followed your mate’s lead. No pants.

If these guests saw something they didn’t want to see, they should have knocked properly.

And just as you finished, you heard a shrill scream from downstairs.

“Oh my-! I knew it, I knew we should have waited! Dammit Li!” You stepped out and onto the high platform overlooking the loft to see three humans below, two young ladies covering their faces with their hands, and a young man staring gobsmacked at your mate. You recognized two of them from the day before, the lady and the not-mortal-

Nezha, your mind cut you off. He was Nezha.

Nezha blushed furiously, looking at the ground and unable to meet the eyes of Wukong.

“C-could you maybe put something more on-?” He started, only to choke when Wukong got into his personal space, muzzle close enough to bite his nose off.

“Could you maybe try knocking in the future? You’re lucky I wasn’t in the middle of anything important with my mate I haven’t seen in years when you barged in.” He snarked, and Nezha’s blush only grew further.

“R-right. Sorry. Will do uh, in the future.” He brought a hand up to rub at the back of his neck. You giggled, covering your muzzle with your claws from where you were watching. Your mate was such a menace.

You flexed your magic skills, testing to see if you could get down without help. With a gentle ‘whoosh’ your body was lifted into the air, and you let yourself float down to the metal floor below. The young ladies with Nezha peeked from their hands at the sound of your claws clinking against the metal, and the one you didn’t recognize stared at you with wide eyes and a slack jaw.

“S-so the dragons were real…” She muttered. You gave a polite bow of your head to them both before doing the same to Nezha.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, and to see the both of you well after yesterday. I…I wanted to properly thank you, Nezha, for-”

“Li.” He interrupted. You blink at him and his friend, the one with the shorter hair, smacks his bicep with a scolding look. “S-sorry! Sorry, just uh…I am Nezha, but reincarnated. My name is really Li.” You smile, not offended. Wukong casually walks over to you, wrapping his arm around your waist and pulling you close to him. You let your tail idly wrap around his legs, one clawed hand immediately moving to his mane of hair and playing with the soft strands.

“Alright then. Li, I wanted to properly thank you for freeing me. I wasn’t in…quite the right headspace when I got out. None of my kin were.” He waved you off, a resolute look in his eyes.

“No problem. After everything he did for me,” He gestured idly at Wukong, “I’m happy I got to help him back.” The two shared a look between them, and you felt a burst of familiar pride for your mate. Making friends wasn’t easy for him, especially in the modern world, but Nezha had always been a good influence for the Monkey King. The casual rivalry between the two had grown into a genuine friendship centuries ago, and you were glad to see it still growing strong with this newest reincarnation. 

Li digs around in his pocket, pulling out a pair of keys and tossing them to Wukong. The monkey snatches them out of the air with his tail, his hands still gripping you tight.

“There’s your bike back, wanted to get it done today before I forgot. I’m gonna be busy the next couple of weeks.” He gave a boyish grin. Wukong smiled at him, nodding his thanks.

“Appreciated. I have plans too.” A pinch to the cheek of your ass had you jumping with a squeak, and you immediately smacked the fluffy end of your tail into Wukong’s face, smothering him with the fluff as he laughed and tried to duck away from the onslaught. He spun away from you, pouting with big, vulnerable eyes now that you weren’t in his arms anymore.

Serves him, cheeky monkey.

The girls behind you giggle at your antics. You smile at them, rolling your eyes, and they nod in sympathy.

“Well,” The taller lady starts, clapping her hands together with a determined expression. “The three of us are sorry to have bothered you and your…reunion. We’ll be on our way so you can be at peace again.” The other girl nods, linking her arm with the other and reaching out her free hand for Li to grab. With pleasant farewells the three leave the way they came, the steel door shutting with a resounding ‘bang’ that echoes around the tower.

“I never want to see that much of a naked monkey again.” Li shudders, letting Kasha drag him back to where their group parked the bikes. Su immediately reached into the subcar she attached to her bike for the day, pulling her leather jacket out and slipping it on for the morning chill. 

Rain made the mornings cold, who knew? It was still so novel to her.

Kasha giggled, knocking her shoulder against Li’s as they walked.

“You should know better than to barge in on couples. You never know what they could be doing~” Li made a disgusted face, and Su couldn’t help laughing at the two of them. She threw her leg over her bike, carefully roiling it away from the black studded one Li had ridden in. She didn’t know the Monkey King very well, but Li had told her and Kasha enough for her to not risk getting a scratch on it.

Kasha came closer to her, and Su held a hand out, letting the girl settle onto the cushion behind her, adjusting her prosthetic as needed. Li stood still for a moment, looking between the two of them with mock contempt. 

“Really? I get the side car?” He grumbled. The two girls shared a look before giggling, Kasha wrapping her arms tight around Su’s middle. She didn’t even try to hide the blush in her cheeks at the feel of Kasha’s warmth against her back.

“Dumb dumb boys have to ride in the car~” Kasha sing-songed, delighted by the pout Li gave her.

“Don’t worry,” Su tried to pacify, “You’re a dumb dumb, but you're our dumb dumb. Come on then.” She jerked her head towards the car. Li sighed, but hooked his leg over the edge and settled in.

“You’re a doctor, shouldn’t you be insisting the recovering patient be in the car?” He grumbled. Su pretended not to hear him over the roar of her engine as it sprung to life and the trio rolled away.

“They seem nice.” You purr, warmth flooding you as you settle back under the covers of your bed. Wukong hangs your robes back up, his fingers trailing over the fabric of yours for a few moments longer than is necessary before he turns back to you. 

“Yeah, they’re good kids. Nezha picked a good one this time around.” He says, crawling along the mattress to get back to your side. You open your arms for him, letting him snuggle into the warmth of your breasts and tummy with a happy chirp. Your own purr starts rumbling from your chest, a soft sound that has your monkey sighing in happiness. You smirk, the urge to tease welling up inside you.

“I’m surprised you trained him, considering.” You start. Wukong freezes under your claws, slowly angling his head up to look at you. You bite your bottom lip, and he raises a questioning eyebrow. When you refuse to elaborate, he shifts, pushing you onto your back and crawling over your long form, hands coming to rest on the mattress below you as he holds himself up. You feel his hips settle along yours, his feet ready to grab you.

“What exactly…do you mean by that, hmm?” There’s no real heat to his words, but there is an underlying threat. You wiggle, testing his hold and are delighted by the way he squeezes his limbs around you tighter.

“Well, considering your age I just wonder if you can keep up~”

“You calling me old, sweet peach?” He glares.

“Maybe…” You brush your claws through his thick mane of white hair, twisting a lock around a single claw. “Not that I'm complaining, you know. I rather like the silver fox look~” You purred, nuzzling your muzzle to his. Wukong snorted a laugh.

“Still think I'm handsome then? Guess I can't complain.” 

“Oh, you'll always be handsome, no matter the age.” You coo. “Don't you know that's why I agreed to marry you so many centuries ago?” He gave you an amused glare, his hands moving closer to your sides underneath his own weight. Despite the danger, you continue your teasing.

“I saw you all those years ago and I thought to myself ‘oh, that's a silver fox in the making right there. I better snatch him up quick!’ and somehow convinced you to ask me to marry you!” You smirked up at him, and immediately paid the price for it. 

Those hands on your sides attacked, reaching for all the ticklish spots Wukong knew you had. You squealed, wiggling and thrashing under him but unable to move his immense weight. The grin he wore was devious. 

“Think you're so funny don't you!? You enjoy teasing an old monkey!? Who's laughing now huh!?” He cackled as you shrieked, your tail throwing the covers of your bed off. He went with your bucking, legs wrapped tight around your hips as he made you laugh and cry at the stimulation. 

“M-muh-mercy!” You squealed, tears pricking at the corners of your eyes as Wukong continued his attack. His fingers dug into a sensitive spot near the bottom of your ribs, right under your scales, and you scream in glee. The mini monkeys still sleeping around you wake up with a start, looking to see what the ruckus was. Some immediately lose interest at the sight of you both and flop back over, asleep again in moments, while others sit up and start chirping, cheering their king on as he teases you.

Finally his fingers settle, and you gasp for breath, placing a hand on your heaving chest to calm your racing heart.

“Now, have we learned our lesson?” Wukong looks down at you, smug grin on full display. You take in the sight of him above you, fully nude and sitting up proud, and you suddenly don’t think the racing of your heart is just from his tickle attack. Heat rises to your cheeks as you look away, overcome with shyness. You see out the corner of your eye as his nose twitches, picking up the change in your scent.

“Y-yes daddy…” You purr breathlessly. Wukong gives a low chuckle in response, hooking a finger under your chin and angling your face to look at him once more. 

“What do you say we get started on that ‘reunion’, my sweet peach?” He purrs. You nod, squeaking happily at the kiss he drags you into. The mini monkeys in the room are suddenly lifted high into the air with surprised chirps, Wukong using his tail to float them gently out the door before the steel covering slams into place, shutting the rest of the world out as you…catch up.

Quick question that no one will know. WHERE TF ARE THEY??

You can already see weapons. Theres also an arch, so maybe the mountain used to have a building???

I just want to know where it is and the lore 😭 why did Mac choose this mountain, whats the history behind it. Was it just because it was secluded? I can’t imagine it’s THAT far from the city because Mk would have been more cautious if so right?

(Yeah ill just go on a field trip with my new sketchy mentor to who knows where😄 thats not a terrible idea at all. Im the Monkie Kid)

Oh yay, dead people already, great signs. Also did Mac make them climb all those stairs? Man, he was really pushing Mk to his limit. Did he climb with Mk? Was it just awkward silence or was it a checkpoint thing like a video game 😭 just occasionally hes there again like (Great job just a little further 🙂)

I NEED TO KNOW. What battle happened here? Was it from the jttw, or just a random battle? Was it specific to Macaque or Wukong in anyway? Theres swords and spears littering the ground. And skeletons. It was definitely a battle ground. I believe we’ve only seen a few of these? So they’re might be clues in flashbacks?

Perhaps its Sandy’s or maybe Macaque’s? Both have spears in the ground. Though we don’t have many clues as to where the battles took place besides that Sandys flack back happened on a mountain but the place probably wasn’t a factor as it was triggered by the situation. And Macaques you can see a mountain range

I couldn’t really find anything that matches. However if this were the case and THE battle really happened on this mountain it’d be quite interesting, but would surprisingly give me a lot to work with to make a timeline.

For instance if either battles happened on that mountain then it would have had to of been after the main jttw, or after Sun Wukongs circlet was removed. As I believe it is closer to his mountain, or at least the city. Which he would not have been near during the journey westwards, as we know his island is in the east, near the Dragon of the East’s palace.

I think Wukong in lmk either continued the pilgrimage without the circlet or they wrote most of the scenes to take place after, like the Samadhi fire. As we can see the group is still together, and Tripiaka is still their master. But Wukong is NOT wearing the circlet, so this probably takes place after. So that means other chapters could have been rewritten to be after the main journey west, and the groups just stuck together? Or perhaps get back together to do errands for the celestial realm like in this scene with Nezha.

Its not a crazy assumption to think that Macaques defeat and possibly death took place after the main jttw or when Sun Wukong returned home as we see Dbks defeat/death also took place after. Perhaps Wukong was just tying up loose ends 😃

Oh I ran out of photo room but In Macaque’s flashback Wukong isn’t wearing the circlet there either.

Makes me wonder just how much of the journey to the west they altered in Lego Monkie Kid, was the Lady Bone Demon’s defeat even in the early chapters? Was Macaques death before or after hers?
