Thank you everyone who sent in prompts - I make no promises as to when I will make my way through them, but the intention is there. If you will allow me, I had a couple or so relating to the warmth statement from last episode, as well as one that involved that along with some specific logistics, which both call back somewhat to something I wrote back in October of 2022, so I'm going to post a segment of that in the meanwhile whilst I work on the next chapter of Intertwined and these requests. Thanks for reading and participating. ***
Unable to say if it was intentional or not, Imogen releases an audible sigh.
“What's on your mind?”
“Bein’ in the Heartmoor Hamlet…” she finishes what she meant to say before, what she’d proclaimed to Laudna when they were there, but she hadn’t heard, and then Imogen second-guessed.
“…it felt nice. Peaceful. Somewhere people have to make an effort to get to - so it keeps the crowds at bay…” She turns onto her side and reclines further into the mattress. Still holding Laudna’s hand, her finger traces each tendon that divides the flat plane. “…and you got your shop for bric-a-brac and curios that’d keep ya occupied with findin’ parts or things t’fix up and assemble, could probably even get a deal goin’ with the lady who owned the place and sell your own creations there too-”
“Sounds like you’ve got it all planned out”
Imogen blushes.
“I – it doesn’t have to be there, necessarily-”
Laudna squeezes her hand.
“I think we would suit living in a house on stilts. Would be interesting to see what the planting options are in the wetlands…a lot of reeds…water lilies…” her face scrunches as she rests her index finger across her lower lip, thumb pinching it into its length, visibly thinking.
“…oh! Frogs!” Her eyes shine and she drops Imogen’s hand in excitement as she cuts her own into the air. “Can you imagine? Stepping stones to the front door and your last paces home serenaded by a chorus of frogs?!”
Imogen can imagine it. Has imagined it. Laudna a few bounds ahead of her, straw basket swinging in the crook of an elbow, a cornucopia full of a bounty of fruits from the allotment. A sickle-smile splitting over her shoulder as she hops from one flagstone to another, reeds whistling up to her arms cut off before they can form an arched pathway, and clearings on the water’s surface full of white and pink lilies and beady eyed emerald frogs and fat warted brown toads sat croaking on the flat and buoyant leaves.
In dreams. Does she dare?
“Imagine them keepin’ us up all night when they won’t shut up.” She playfully rolls her eyes as she dramatically throws her head back against the pillow, giggling, all gap tooth and freckles and dimples.
“They’ll keep the flies at bay; a lot of them would want to hang around, what with all the stagnant water. Mosquitos too. Not that they would bother me. Will there be enough flies left for the spiders?” Laudna pauses her hands and mouth - still sat up in the bed, looks down over at Imogen as if she has the answer-
“I’m sure there’ll be plenty for the spiders too. If not, I’m sure a frog or two can be utilised for spell components.”
-she does.
Laudna blinks.
“Imogen”
“What?”
Laudna turns more fully towards Imogen, pivoting around the anchor point of an anaemic hand on a crumpling bed sheet and she stills, torso half-way between horizontal with Imogen’s and fully upright.
A silence stretches.
Imogen acknowledges her eyes scanning her, even in the lower light and with the absence of an obvious pupil and a lack of white.
The silence feels as though a gentle nudge of Laudna in her head, like a light tapping of knuckle on door to a beat shared between the two of them as if a secret language, always welcome but never assuming.
Imogen lets her in.
Of course I want that too…but everything I have here...
She sees herself as she is now, through Laudna’s eyes; lilac hair let out of its casual half-up do and fanning out and covering the pillow in curls, dressed in her white pleated night shirt, emphasizing the bronzing of her skin and the darker freckles that constellate her shoulders and the tops of her breasts, candlelight bathing her in dancing gold.
Warm, warm, warm. Warmer than any hearth. Light to my eyes, honey to my ears, softness to my touch, heat to my tongue-
Her thick thighs; spread slightly on the bed and her shirt barely covering half-way down them. A thought that overlaps perceived reality manifests; of Laudna’s fingers dimpling the tanned surface as her tongue laps at her-
Imogen flushes and her breathing shallows, spine arching her chest off the straw mattress as she sits up, mouth parting-
“Laudna, you’re starin’-”

[Image description: Three overlapping drawings of Imogen Reed from Soma, who has beige skin and straight red hair cut at the chin. The leftmost drawing is a front view from the waist up, where she is underwater and wearing a light blue diving suit. She’s removing her helmet with her hands to let water flow in and bubbles flow out, and her face is distressed. The upper right drawing is also a bust; she is viewed from the side and is wearing a dark purple tank-top. Her expression is shocked and there are yellow bursts of color around her head. She is lit with blue light in this drawing and the next. The bottom right drawing is of her hands gripping a Styrofoam cup with brown liquid and steam rising from it that fades from blue to green. Wavy lines emanate from her hands along the bottom of the drawing. End of description.]

THE GOLDEN TOUCH
January 17, 1951
“The Golden Touch" is a modern re-telling of the King Midas story with Jack Benny and his friends as King Midas and his court. It was directed by Robert F. Mansfield, written by Robert Hugh O’Sullivan and with Harry Zimmerman as the composer / conductor.
“Family Theater” was a weekly half-hour dramatic anthology radio program which aired on the Mutual Broadcasting System (MBS) from February 13, 1947, to September 11, 1957. The show was produced by Family Theater Productions, a film and radio studio extension of the Family Rosary Crusade founded by Father Patrick Peyton as a way to promote family prayer. The motto of the the Holy Cross Family Ministries is, "The family that prays together, stays together."
Although the program had no commercial sponsor, Father Peyton arranged for many of Hollywood's biggest stars to appear including James Stewart, Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Raymond Burr, Jane Wyatt, Charlton Heston, Bing Crosby, Jack Benny, Gene Kelly, William Shatner, and Chuck Connors.
A total of 540 episodes were produced. The program featured not only religious stories but half-hour adaptations of literary works such as A Tale of Two Cities, Moby-Dick and Don Quixote.
Synopsis ~ Lucille Ball is the hostess and Jack Benny stars as the King obsessed with his gold and counting it. The Queen and her daughter get a Genie to sort the King out. The Genie grants the King one wish and the King tells the Genie that he can always use more gold and asks that everything he touches will turn to gold. Of course this seems exciting at first until he turns the Queen and his daughter in to solid gold.
The program was repeated on May 23, 1951.
King Midas is popularly remembered in Greek mythology for his ability to turn everything he touched into gold. This came to be called the golden touch, or the Midas touch.
CAST
Jack Benny (King Midas) was born on Valentine’s Day 1894. He had a successful vaudeville career, and an even greater career on radio with “The Jack Benny Program” which also became a successful television show. His screen persona was known for being a penny-pincher and playing the violin. Benny was a Beverly Hills neighbor of Lucille Ball’s and the two were off-screen friends. Benny appeared on “The Lucy Show” as Harry Tuttle (a Jack Benny doppelganger) in “Lucy and the Plumber” (TLS S3;E2), later did a voice over cameo as himself in “Lucy With George Burns” (TLS S5;E1), and played himself in “Lucy Gets Jack Benny’s Account” (TLS S6;E6). He was seen in four episodes of “Here’s Lucy.” Benny and Ball appeared on many TV variety and award shows together. He died in 1974, a few weeks after taping “An All-Star Party for Lucille Ball.”
Lucille Ball (Hostess) was concurrently starring in her own radio comedy “My Favorite Husband” having starred in films from 1933. In the fall of 1951, Ball and her husband Desi Arnaz launched their iconic television series, “I Love Lucy.” After her divorce from Arnaz in 1960, Ball starred in two subsequent television series’ - “The Lucy Show” and “Here’s Lucy.” After a series of TV specials, she did one more series in 1986, which was not successful. She died in 1989.
Ted de Corsia (Harvey Benson, Reporter from The Daily Telegram) was an actor in touring companies and on radio before making a memorable film debut as the killer in The Lady from Shanghai (1947). De Corsia's New York street demeanor and gravelly voice assured him steady work playing street thugs, gang leaders or organized-crime bosses. On radio he starred in the CBS series "Pursuit" (1949-50). Two years before he was heard on an episode of “My Favorite Husband” with Lucille Ball.
Barbara Eiler (Princess Imogene) started acting as a teenager and appeared regularly on the radio programs “The Life of Riley,” “A Day in the Life of Dennis Day,” “The Fabulous Dr. Tweedy” and “Glamor Manor." She did a 1948 episode of “My Favorite Husband” with Lucille Ball.
Eleanor Audley (Queen Midas) played Lucille Ball’s mother-in-law on “My Favorite Husband.” She would later play Eleanor Spalding, owner of the Westport home the Ricardos buy in “Lucy Wants To Move to the Country” (ILL S6;E15) in 1957, as well as one of the Garden Club judges in “Lucy Raises Tulips” (ILL S6;E26).
Alan Reed (Matthew the Butler / Tony the Cook) is probably best remembered as the voice of Fred Flintstone. He started his acting career in 1937. He acted opposite Lucille Ball in a 1963 episode of “The Lucy Show” (ILL S1;E25). In 1967, he made an appearance on the Desi Arnaz series “The Mothers-in-Law”. He died in 1977 at the age of 69.
Reed uses an English accent as Matthew and an Italian accent as Tony.
Verna Felton (Molly, Kitchen Help) received two Emmy nominations for her role in the Desilu series “December Bride,” playing Hilda Crocker from 1955 to 1959. She did two episodes of “I Love Lucy,” including playing Lucy’s stern maid, Mrs. Porter. Felton voiced many characters for Disney.
Felton uses an Irish accent as Molly.
Howard McNear (Ipsuda, Magician) played Mr. Crawford, Little Ricky’s music teacher on “I Love Lucy.” McNear went on to play Floyd the Barber on “The Andy Griffith Show” from 1961 to 1967, filmed on the Desilu backlot. He was also seen in Lucy and Desi’s 1953 film The Long, Long Trailer.
Frank Nelson (Genie / Mr. Gene Blue) was born on May 6, 1911 (three months before Lucille Ball) in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He started working as a radio announcer at the age of 15. He later appeared on such popular radio shows as “The Great Gildersleeve,” “Burns and Allen,” and “Fibber McGee & Molly”. This is one of his 11 performances on “My Favorite Husband.” On “I Love Lucy” he holds the distinction of being the only actor to play two recurring roles: Freddie Fillmore and Ralph Ramsey, as well as six one-off characters, including the frazzled train conductor in “The Great Train Robbery” (ILL S5;E5), a character he repeated on “The Lucy Show.” Aside from Lucille Ball, Nelson is perhaps most associated with Jack Benny and was a fifteen-year regular on his radio and television programs.
Howard Culver (Jake Workman, Ice Man) was best known as hotel clerk Howie Uzzell during the entire run of TV's “Gunsmoke.” On radio he starred in the title role of the Western adventure series “Straight Arrow” which aired on Mutual from 1948 to 1951.
Tony La Frano (Announcer) was the regular announcer for “Music Depreciation” (1945) and every episode of “Family Theatre” (1947-1957).
EPISODE
Hostess Lucille Ball introduces the show, which was broadcast in front of a live audience. Lucille urges listeners to pray together as a family. She then introduces Jack Benny as the King, to great fanfare.
Instead of Benny, the show opens with Imogene on the telephone of a busy office in the Kingdom of Midas. Harvey Benson, an American reporter, arrives to see the Queen, who thinks he is there for money, but he wants the story of something that happened there recently. She tells the story in flashback...
A month ago, King Midas is at breakfast with his family. Imogene complains about having cornmeal mush for breakfast again, but Midas reasons that they have a 752 pounds of corn (thanks to the foresight of his father), so they must eat it!
Matthew, King Midas’ butler, suddenly quits after 32 years! He is tired of carrying the King’s gold. He is also tired of the mush. Because of an ancient decree, the help must eat whatever the King eats.
Imogene and the Queen insist King Midas counts his money too much - 80 million dollars a day! Once the King is gone, the Queen sends Imogene on a mission to see a magician named Ipusda to buy a genie.
At Ipsuda’s shop, Imogene has her pick of genies - even ones vacuum packed in cans (only for tourists)! She buys the blue bottle special for 5 gold pieces - plus a small deposit on the bottle! Imogene brings the magic blue bottle back to the Queen, who says the magic words: “Genie out and at attention! Do the chores which I will mention!” The giggling Genie immediately appears, talking in rhyme, very amused at his own cleverness. They promise the Genie his freedom if he does as bid. The Queen whispers the orders to the Genie, without letting Imogene know.
Next morning, Imogene and the Queen introduce Midas to his new servant - the Genie! At their bidding, he conjures up bacon and eggs. Midas hates the Genie’s rhyming. He asks Midas what one wish he wants more than anything else in the world. Naturally, he wants more gold.
The Genie grants him with the skill to turn everything he touches to gold! The Genie pops back into the bottle. Imogene notices his utensils have turned to gold - then his eggs - then his coffee.
Before he can stop himself, he turns his own daughter to gold! Midas demands the Queen bring the Genie back, but she refuses and storms off.
Midas hears the kitchen servants Tony and Molly arguing in the next room. Tony goes to shake his hand, but he turns to gold! He touches Molly and she, too, turns to gold.
The ice man arrives and sees the two golden servants. Signing for the ice, the King tries to give him the golden pencil as a tip! Midas explains his problem - everything he touches turns to gold. Jake is about to phone his brother-in-law, Ipsuda, but when he learns that it was the work of a genie, he hangs up. All they can do is wait for the Queen to return to get the Genie out of the bottle!
Time passes and Jake reveals that the King is not as highly regarded in the Kingdom as he thinks. The King admits to being money mad. Midas decides to start giving his money away - starting now!
The Queen arrives and she Midas admits that he never wants to see gold again as long as he lives. After accidentally turning Jake to gold during a hug, the Queen summons the Genie to change the King back - in return for his freedom and a good job. The Genie removes the curse.
Flash forward to the Queen’s interview with newspaper reporter Harvey Benson. Mr. Gene Blue, the president of the relief organization, enters. He makes a joke about his name sounding like “Benson Burners.” He laughs hysterically as the music swells.
Lucille Ball closes the show by asking if the audience knows how Hedda Hopper makes a hat, comparing it to how scientists make a concoction out of ordinary things to create something incredible: jewels out of sawdust, perfume out of coal tar, medicine out of weeds or mold. She says the power of prayer, just like the ordinary things that create something magical, are there all the time, but must be used to get benefits: the jewel of a happy home life, the perfume of uplifted hearts, medicine for a sick world.
LUCILLE BALL: “The family that prays together, stays together.”
Announcer Tony Lo Frano reads the credits and says that next week’s program Walter Brennan and Bette Lynn in “A Star for Helen” with the honorable Frank Walker as host.

BREAKING DAWN Part 1 & Part 2
an updated, more modern take on the original soundtrack.
(TWILIGHT) (NEW MOON) (ECLIPSE)
spotify link — BD pt1 spotify link — BD pt2
[track list and commentary under the cut]
Part One
Endtapes — The Joy Formidable ➼ ➼ ➼ I Will Be Waiting — Let’s Eat Grandma
This soundtrack starts off so strongly that I had no choice but to pick one that can kick it off just as well. Let’s Eat Grandma might be my favorite band I’ve found this year. Their genre-bending is exquisite.
Love Will Take You — Angus & Julia Stone ➼ ➼ ➼ Need Ur Luv (Japanese Wallpaper Remix) — Charli XCX
Talk to me a year ago and tell me I was going to be putting Charli on a Twilight soundtrack recreation and I would’ve stared blankly and asked “fucking how?” Well, with this incredible Japanese Wallpaper remix, that’s how.
It Will Rain — Bruno Mars ➼ ➼ ➼ In My Blood — Shawn Mendes
And how do you replace baby Bruno? Well, only with today’s romantic power-balad singing baby, Shawn Mendes. It’s a perfect replacement, if you ask me.
Turning Page — Sleeping at Last ➼ ➼ ➼ For Now - Reimagined — Kina Grannis
Any other 2009-era Kina Grannis stans? Message From Your Heart? All those YouTube covers? No, just me? Whatever. Kina belonged on those soundtracks back then, and this is setting things right.
From Now On — The Features ➼ ➼ ➼ Cliffs Edge — Hayley Kiyoko
One of Hayley’s older songs, so it’s not too new, but I felt that is matched From Now On’s mood fantastically.
A Thousand Years — Christina Perri ➼ ➼ ➼ human — Christina Perri
No, this isn’t cheating. But only Christina Perri can truly replace Christina Perri. It’s also a perfect pre-change Bella song. I’m sure you heard this song everywhere at the end of the saga when everyone took to YouTube to make their cathartic recap videos. 2012-13 was a great (but weird) year to be a Twilight stan.
Neighbors — Theophilus London ➼ ➼ ➼ FACE — BROCKHAMPTON
Whether you like BROCKHAMPTON or not means little to me. They were absolutely ending up on one of these soundtracks. And as replacement to Neighbors, it’s like they belong. “Tell me what you’re waiting for? I just want to love you.” Ouch. Harsh Jacob vibes.
I Didn’t Mean It — The Belle Brigade ➼ ➼ ➼ All out of Tears — Z Berg
Z Berg created a song that sounded like it was made for one of these soundtracks. It’s insane. And one of my fucking favorites.
Sister Rosetta — Noisettes ➼ ➼ ➼ Digital Witness — St. Vincent
The Twilight soundtracks (and also Sufjan Stevens himself) are responsible for introducing me to St. Vincent. Now, years later, she’s consistently been one of my favorite artists. She has the range, y’all.
Northern Lights — Cider Sky ➼ ➼ ➼ Pool — Paramore
Of course I was putting Paramore back on one of these lists, you crazies. (And this isn’t the last you’ll see of them, either.)
Flightless Bird, American Mouth (Wedding Version) — Iron & Wine ➼ ➼ ➼ New America Classic — Vitamin String Quartet
There isn’t a wedding version of New American classic, but there is a Vitamin String Quartet version! (And no offense Iron & Wine, but it sounds so much more like an actual wedding song.) Any OG Twilight stans know that in this house, we love and cherish the Vitamin String Quartet. They were like our musical savior back in the day. Couldn’t find a decent quality soundtrack upload? No worries. Odds are, they’d already recorded an insane strings cover already.
Requiem on — Imperial Mammoth ➼ ➼ ➼ Waste — Oh Wonder
I unashamedly adore this song by Oh Wonder. Their dual vocals always put me in a damn trance. It’s so beautiful to describe. Just listen.
Cold — Aqualung & Lucy Schwartz ➼ ➼ ➼ Willow (feat. Robert Pattinson) — Tindersticks
Told you I’d stick him back on the soundtracks eventually. This song is so hauntingly perfect. When I first heard it it reminded me why I was so in love with Robert back in the day. That voice, man. Talent leapt!
Lloverá — Mía Maestro ➼ ➼ ➼ Silence II — Son Lux
It’s not as beautiful as the Carmen actress’ ballad, but it’s just as haunting.
Love Death Birth — Carter Burwell ➼ ➼ ➼ Sæglópur — Sigur Rós
When I went through my Sigur Rós phase way back when (pre-Twilight) Sæglópur was my favorite song for ages. It takes you through the whole spectrum of emotion, just as Carter Burwell’s music does. I thought it was an ideal way to end this first half.
You still get bonus tracks! Here’s two for the first movie:
Otherside — Perfume Genius
Simple. Powerful. Emotional. All you need at this point in the saga.
Everything In Its Right Place — Radiohead
A song that feels like waking up from a dream. Perfect for Bella’s dramatic change. (And of course I had to actually add Radiohead to one of these.)
Part Two
Where I Come From — Passion Pit ➼ ➼ ➼ Manchester — Kishi Bashi
Bella deserves to see the world for the first time with vampire eyes while Kishi Bashi magically transforms the scene in the background. It’s *chef’s kiss* literal perfection.
Bittersweet — Ellie Goulding ➼ ➼ ➼ Warrior — AURORA
Can I go off topic for half a second and tell you guys that I cried when I saw AURORA featured on the new Frozen song? No one deserves that wide recognition as much as she does. And no one does mystical pop better than AURORA (not even Ellie Goulding).
The Forgotten — Green Day ➼ ➼ ➼ Warm Winds (feat. Isaiah Rashad) — SZA
SZA deserves this spot and don’t even question why. SZA’s first album was so iconically emo. She’s another artist I’m convinced would’ve been reached out to for a track if she’d been making music just a little bit earlier.
Fire In The Water — Feist ➼ ➼ ➼ Carry Me Out — Mitski
Even though I’ve been a Feist fan since I got my first vocal comparison to her pre-Twilight (so I was ecstatic when she was featured here) I think Mitski really encapsulates everything a Twilight soundtrack needs.
Everything and Nothing — The Boom Circuits ➼ ➼ ➼ Highspeeds — Elliot Moss
I can’t not give Elliot Moss a spot. And that's it.
The Antidote — St. Vincent ➼ ➼ ➼ Unholy Trinity — Von Grey
I needed a harder song for this replacement and Von Grey’s music does the trick. This is the band of an old Tumblr friend that goes fucking hard, y’all. She and her sisters know how to bang out the tunes.
Speak Up — POP ETC ➼ ➼ ➼ Reasons Not To Die (Demo) — Ryn Weaver
This girl just knows how to fucking get me. Her second and final appearance on the soundtrack, here to just make you want to laugh and cry all at once. And as a replacement to another top favorite, it works well.
Heart of Stone — Iko ➼ ➼ ➼ Smother — Daughter
Heart of Stone actually made my end of year top tracks playlist for 2018. I knew I needed a solid replacement. And you can never go wrong with a Daughter track.
Cover Your Tracks — A Boy and His Kite ➼ ➼ ➼ In The Mourning — Paramore
We bid farewell to Paramore with their final appearance here. In The Mourning is another long-time favorite. It’s beautiful. And sad! We love it.
Ghosts — James Vincent McMorrow ➼ ➼ ➼ Weight — Crywolf
You need that late Breaking Dawn depressing shit? I got you that late Breaking Dawn depressing shit. “Bless me with just one kiss before you leave me here with my heart.”
All I've Ever Needed — Paul McDonald & Nikki Reed ➼ ➼ ➼ Beetroot (What If I Was 1?) — Blue Americans
I can’t describe how double-sad I get when I remember that Paul McDonald & Nikki Reed divorced not long after the saga wrapped. (Not that I ever had an attachment to him, but this song is so nice!) So that’s why Beetroot is a little sadder than All I’ve Ever Needed. Still a great song though.
New for You — Reeve Carney ➼ ➼ ➼ Black Hole — HANA
Black Hole is a little more pop than New For You. But it’s beautiful and nice and lovely and I am also In Love with HANA. So you get her here.
A Thousand Years (Part 2) — Christina Perri (feat. Steve Kazee) ➼ ➼ ➼ I Get To Love You — Ruelle
Had had had to put this incredible, romantic, hopeful song at the end of this soundtrack specifically. Just listen and tell me you don’t get emotional over their future with this.
Plus Que Ma Propre Vie (More Than My Own Life) — Carter Burwell ➼ ➼ ➼ Half Life - Instrumental Version — Imogen Heap
How are you supposed to pick a song to end the soundtracks? Thankfully, Imogen Heap had the foresight to release instrumental versions of each song on her Ellipse album. Such a thoughtful queen. We thank her by giving her the final word.
What’s this? No more? It’s okay. You do get bonus tracks, but not here.
I’ll be posting one more soundtrack, full of all the extras and little gems that I couldn’t quite place in any specific spot on the soundtracks. A whole other playlist full of Twilight-vibey songs for your listening enjoyment! Look out for that next week. Happy New Year!

Thank you all for your patience as we worked through the applications, and for your patience in the upcoming days as we update the pages and get everything started. All of these applications were incredible, and we thoroughly enjoyed reading every single one. We’ll be reaching out to some of you who have applied for skeleton characters (which received multiple applications) with ideas we have for how to make the character you’ve created into an original one, so be sure to check the inbox of the account that you used to send your application for a message. Otherwise, anyone who doesn’t receive a message from us is more than welcome to re-apply for a different original character during our next round of acceptances. We ask that you just create a new one to avoid characters being too similar.
We ask for your continued patience tonight when it comes to OOC interactions. As much as we’d love to get straight to plotting, the two of us are pretty much fried! We both are going to head to bed now, but we’ll be on in the morning to send out links to join the OOC blog and OOC discord if you so choose! Then we’ll have the whole day tomorrow to talk about Wade!

Hanna’s hips ache with every step that she takes into her shared two bedroom apartment. A telltale sign that the fatigue and jet lag have begun to take up their extended residency in her bones. Another yawn escapes her as she sets her luggage next to her bedroom door. She’ll get to unpacking later, she tells herself. A short nap is much higher on her list of priorities for the day.
She doesn’t even bother to change out of her clothes. Simply tugs her black leggings down her legs, kicking them off with her left foot and leaving them to pool somewhere near her laundry basket. There’s no need to remove her bra after having decided to go without it beneath her oversized hoodie. The plain forest green hoodie had been the best and cleanest choice for the long plane ride home.
After pushing her throw blanket to the side of her queen bed, Hanna is kneeing her way up the length of it before dropping the upper half of her body to the mattress. The blankets smell like the laundry detergent used to wash them and the vanilla reed defuser that sits on her bedside table. And it has Hanna’s eyes drooping the moment her head hits the pillow, long mahogany hair fanning around her.
She’s nearly asleep after just a few seconds, but manages to muster up enough energy to retrieve her phone from the pocket of her sweatshirt. Setting an alarm to get up is the responsible thing to do even though the mere thought of waking up sets Hanna’s lower lip into a pout. But, with classes starting in almost two weeks and a fifteen page paper due for her interim course, she doesn’t exactly have time to waste.
After checking that the clock read exactly noon, she sets an alarm to go off in two and a half hours. Perhaps she will wake up groggy and annoyed, but she has an inkling that waking up at any point will leave her just the same. Hanna tosses the device on her bedside table and not even five minutes later is she snoring beneath the quilted fabric of her comforter.
. . . . . . . . . . .
Hanna wakes up to a wash of light purples and reds that paint her white walls a muted version of the colors. She can feel a stiffness in her neck as she shifts to her back on the bed and her face scrunches up with the discomfort. Hanna already knows that she has slept well past her alarm, but she can’t bring herself to care. She feels far too well rested and surely that can’t be a bad thing. If anything, it should make her much more productive.
She pushes herself to sit up, pressing her back to pillows and leaning her head against the wall behind her. Her hand rises to cup the junction between her throat and neck, rolling her neck to relieve the tension. The other hand reaches for the phone that has shifted toward the edge of the table with the vibrations that accompanied her alarm.
After turning off the do not disturb feature, her phone is flooded with notifications. She checks her voicemail first, seeing two separate calls from her mother and father.
“Hi, Hanna. I’m glad you are home. Please give your mother and I a call when you’ve settled back in. Love you, kiddo.”
“Iha. Call me when you are able to. I love you.”
They are both simple messages, but it has been more than two weeks since Hanna had heard the voice of her parents. Her mother’s silvery tone fills her with warmth and her dad’s sparks a yearning to be home that, in reality, always resides just below the surface. She holds off on calling them back, though. She hardly thinks that calling them at 5:36am on a Saturday is a good idea. Instead, she figures calling them after she has unpacked and begun settling back in would be much better.
She continues to look through her notifications. She reads through missed text messages from the group chat she has with Imogen, Tyler, and Sonam. It is an assortment of half finished thoughts, capital letters, and promises to go out the first week they are all back. (Hanna misses them something fierce. She absolutely cannot wait until Imogen returns to their shared apartment and Tyler and Sonam essentially move themselves in alongside her).
Hanna types out a quick message to let them know she may or may not have slept for over twelve hours before switching to her social media accounts. Twitter has hardly anything new to offer after she had spent the better part of the flight scrolling through it, but Instagram is littered with likes and comments on her most recent picture.
She scrolls through the notifications, reading each comment and liking the few that are from friends. There are even a few direct messages that have gone stale in her inbox after having been sent more than a week ago. But, there is one that was sent shortly after she had posted a picture of her arrival at LAX.
niallhoran: you left so soon ! wish i would’ve known. i could’ve shown you the real sights to see in london.
niallhoran: sorry if that sounded creepy at all, didn’t mean it if it did !!
Hanna laughs quietly to herself at Niall’s messages. She hardly thinks that he sounded creepy, but she is not above engaging in some light teasing.
hannarey: might’ve been a little more than creepy
hannarey: lmao i'm kidding! sorry i didn’t let you know when you dropped me off. i would’ve liked that.
She doesn’t really expect a response right away, but her phone vibrates with a message only a few moments later.
niallhoran: shit, sorry! but, would’ve liked to have gotten to know you better.
And Hanna doesn’t know it, but Niall is nibbling at his lower lip as he types out each message. She makes him more nervous than he can even describe and it’s almost embarrassing. Especially when Liam comes in, hair wild after his lie-in and glasses perched on the bridge of his nose, asking him why he looks so pensive. (Really, Liam asks why he looks so constipated).
“Remember those two American girls that we had over?” Niall asks, glancing away from his phone for the first time.
“Hanna and Ira, yeah.” Liam nods as he moves to make himself a cup of tea, raising his mug as if to ask Niall if he would like his own.
Niall nods silently before continuing, “I was thinking about asking Hanna ‘round, but she’s back in the states, I guess.”
The disappointment that sticks to every syllable is impossible to miss. Niall had felt that they had hit it off pretty well while Ira and Liam slept. He learned quite a bit about her love for literature and how she sometimes worried that working in the field would diminish her passion for it. She supplemented those vulnerable moments with retellings of fun nights out with her core group of friends.
And Niall had been just as forthcoming with his own stories. He had told her of the year that he had taken off to travel around Europe because he had never left Ireland before then. He even allowed himself to delve into the insecurities that still plague him despite the fact that he has been offered more than one position as a producer following graduation.
“Oh,” Liam doesn’t sound all that bothered, but he knows that the pair had grown closer in the few hours that they had known each other. “Did you at least manage to get her Instagram or something?”
“Yeah. Yeah, I messaged her just a little bit ago.” Niall says, glancing back to his phone to see that Hanna had messaged him back.
hannarey: sorry! could message me on whatsapp or whatever, if you’ve got it.
hannarey: look who’s being creepy now. oops.
A broad smile tugs at the corner of Niall’s lips when he reads it. He sends her a short message with his information for the app. His thumb hovers over the screen as he contemplates sending her his contact information for Skype. The screen name is typed out, but the digit circles momentarily. He squeezes his eyes shut after an internal pep talk and presses send. Thinks that it would be a bummer if she is put off by it, but he figures that it is the worst thing that could happen.
hannarey: a little forward, aren’t we? kidding, i’ll add you in just a second!
True to her word, Niall receives a notification from Hanna a few minutes later. He receives another one shortly thereafter, but it comes from WhatsApp. He accepts both before typing out a greeting on the latter application.
“Then it’s going well, I take it?” Liam chortles, having come back into the living room to offer Niall his cup of tea.
“Thanks,” Niall says, typing a message with one hand and accepting the hot mug with the other. “Mhm. She asked me for my contact information.”
He hopes, at the very least, that Hanna’s forwardness is indicative of their mutual enjoyment of each other’s company. Especially because Niall has never once connected with someone as quickly as he had with her. She emanated a warmth and sense of reprieve from the demands of everyday life. Even with five and a half thousand miles between them, the feeling envelopes Niall. And that has to mean something.
. . . . . . . . . . .
Hours later, Hanna and Niall have maintained fairly consistent conversations. They are only ever interrupted by Hanna’s unpacking, a long call with her parents, and Niall’s short trip to do some food shopping. It was easy to fall in and out of conversation with one another. Neither bothered by periods of absences, but equally as thrilled to see a message light up their respective phones.
However, Niall’s eyelids begin to droop as the time easily slides toward a quarter past one in the morning. He is already beneath the deep gray and navy blue duvet cover on his bed, his head cradled by two flat pillows that sit one on top of the other. His bedside lamp and the dull glow of his phone are the only things to illuminate the room.
He almost feels too tired to continue talking with Hanna despite the fact that their conversation has strayed far away from anything interesting. Hanna is only telling him about her plans to stay in for the remainder of the night. He could practically see the pout on her face when she had grumbled about being bored without the company of her friends. And the conversation hadn’t moved much further than that. Partially due to the short responses on Niall’s behalf, his body finally fatiguing after fighting off his exhaustion for the last few hours.
But, Niall really doesn't want to stop messaging Hanna. Even with his thoughts becoming incoherent and thumbs hovering over the keyboard as he attempts to configure an appropriate response. And he knows sleep is far more important than staying up late to talk to some girl over five thousand miles away. But, he has an inkling that Hanna isn’t just some girl.
Especially when she is the one offering to video chat with him, if he’s comfortable with doing so, after he had insisted he was exhausted but would fight it a little longer just to keep talking.
Niall is greeted by a cream colored wall adorned with various different types of framed artwork. Hanna is nowhere to be seen, but he can hear a faint rustling from somewhere beyond the view of the camera.
“Thought I would be talking to you and not the wall.” Niall begins, voice thick and heavy with sleep.
“Sorry! I’m just grabbing a snack from the kitchen!” Hanna’s pops up behind a wall that sits to the left of the screen.
She raises her hand in a wave before being obscured once more. Niall is grateful for the moment to collect himself. It had only been a few days since he had seen Hanna for the first time and during that time, she had been done-up for a night out. Now, she appears to be in a pair of black sweatpants rolled at the top to keep them from falling even further down her small frame. The gap between the top of her sweats and the end of a tank top is hard to miss, the sliver of tanned skin hard to miss when it contrasted so starkly against the all black outfit.
Hanna emerges from the kitchen after flicking the light switch off and she settles herself in front of her laptop. A bowl of cereal sits in the palm of one of her hands while she tilts the lid of her computer down to put her in center view.
“Hi,” she greets Niall with a smile. “Sorry, I just haven’t really eaten much today.”
Niall rolls over to his side, tucking his free arm between his pillows and extending the other to hold his phone further out.
“No worries. Thought you said you went shopping earlier, though?” His brows furrow in confusion as he recalls a piece of their conversation.
“Yeah, yeah, I did. But, s’just the corner store at the end of my street.” Hanna speaks around a mouthful of cereal. “Too jet lagged to go anywhere else.”
Niall nods in response. He is only capable of imagining what it would be like to spend ten or so hours traveling across the globe. He’s never really stepped foot outside of Europe, unless you count the trip to Disney World that he took with his parents when he was only two years old. Obviously, he has absolutely no recollection of the long flight over the Atlantic, but he is sure that it was worse for his parents than it was for him.
“Can’t blame you there. What are you planning to do now?” he asks, a yawn following shortly after.
“I’ll probably outline the rest of my paper. That way I have it finished before my roommate moves back in.” She pauses, “You should head to bed, though. You sound like you’re ready to drop.”
Niall shakes his head, “I’m not that tired.”
“Oh, bullshit.” Hanna giggles, bringing her legs up to sit criss-crossed. “You sound like you did a few days ago. And I know you were exhausted then.”
Niall can feel a slight swell in his chest at her words. The simple fact that she had observed so much about him within the few short hours they had gotten to know one another made him soft, if he’s honest. It downright would’ve turned him into a puddle, if that were physically possible.
“Please, Niall. Get yourself some sleep.” She says, stern chocolate brown eyes staring him down through the screen. “You can even call me again tomorrow night, if you’d like. Can’t promise I’ll be any more enthralling than I am right now, though.”
Niall knuckles at his eyes, heaving a sigh as he does so. He misses the way Hanna scrunches up her nose at the sight. Niall is just so cute and her attraction only strengthens as she gets to see small glimpses into his life.
Niall would much rather spend the entire night talking with Hanna, but the possibility of just hearing her voice again tomorrow is enough for him to justify going to sleep. He doesn’t voice that, though. At least, not in so many words.
“I’d like that.” He mumbles, ocean blue eyes concealed as his eyelids become even heavier. “Just call whenever you’re free, yeah? Liam and I will be ‘round all day tomorrow.”
“Alright, I’ll do that.” Her giggled response lands on Niall’s ears, albeit distorted, it still pulls the corners of his lips into a tired smile.
“Goodnight, Hanna.” Niall yawns, opening his eyes only to narrow them at the bright screen.
“Goodnight, Niall. I hope you sleep well.”
And he does. In fact, Niall is convinced that it is the best sleep he has gotten in weeks. Eight hours spent without a dream or nightmare to challenge the suddenly beautiful reality he was living in.

Every time I miss her, I read this and remind myself how much she truly wanted it to all end... and then I’m back to myself again.
The lad frowned. "I don't like that explanation, Harry," he rejoined, "but I am glad you don't think I am heartless. I am nothing of the kind. I know I am not. And yet I must admit that this thing that has happened does not affect me as it should. It seems to me to be simply like a wonderful ending to a wonderful play. It has all the terrible beauty of a Greek tragedy, a tragedy in which I took a great part, but by which I have not been wounded."
"It is an interesting question," said Lord Henry, who found an exquisite pleasure in playing on the lad's unconscious egotism, "an extremely interesting question. I fancy that the true explanation is this: It often happens that the real tragedies of life occur in such an inartistic manner that they hurt us by their crude violence, their absolute incoherence, their absurd want of meaning, their entire lack of style. They affect us just as vulgarity affects us. They give us an impression of sheer brute force, and we revolt against that. Sometimes, however, a tragedy that possesses artistic elements of beauty crosses our lives. If these elements of beauty are real, the whole thing simply appeals to our sense of dramatic effect. Suddenly we find that we are no longer the actors, but the spectators of the play. Or rather we are both. We watch ourselves, and the mere wonder of the spectacle enthralls us. In the present case, what is it that has really happened? Some one has killed herself for love of you. I wish that I had ever had such an experience. It would have made me in love with love for the rest of my life. The people who have adored me — there have not been very many, but there have been some — have always insisted on living on, long after I had ceased to care for them, or they to care for me. They have become stout and tedious, and when I meet them, they go in at once for reminiscences. That awful memory of woman! What a fearful thing it is! And what an utter intellectual stagnation it reveals! One should absorb the colour of life, but one should never remember its details. Details are always vulgar."
"I must sow poppies in my garden," sighed Dorian.
"There is no necessity," rejoined his companion. "Life has always poppies in her hands. Of course, now and then things linger. I once wore nothing but violets all through one season, as a form of artistic mourning for a romance that would not die. Ultimately, however, it did die. I forget what killed it. I think it was her proposing to sacrifice the whole world for me. That is always a dreadful moment. It fills one with the terror of eternity. Well — would you believe it? — a week ago, at Lady Hampshire's, I found myself seated at dinner next the lady in question, and she insisted on going over the whole thing again, and digging up the past, and raking up the future. I had buried my romance in a bed of asphodel. She dragged it out again and assured me that I had spoiled her life. I am bound to state that she ate an enormous dinner, so I did not feel any anxiety. But what a lack of taste she showed! The one charm of the past is that it is the past. But women never know when the curtain has fallen. They always want a sixth act, and as soon as the interest of the play is entirely over, they propose to continue it. If they were allowed their own way, every comedy would have a tragic ending, and every tragedy would culminate in a farce. They are charmingly artificial, but they have no sense of art. You are more fortunate than I am. I assure you, Dorian, that not one of the women I have known would have done for me what Sibyl Vane did for you. Ordinary women always console themselves. Some of them do it by going in for sentimental colours. Never trust a woman who wears mauve, whatever her age may be, or a woman over thirty-five who is fond of pink ribbons. It always means that they have a history. Others find a great consolation in suddenly discovering the good qualities of their husbands. They flaunt their conjugal felicity in one's face, as if it were the most fascinating of sins. Religion consoles some. Its mysteries have all the charm of a flirtation, a woman once told me, and I can quite understand it. Besides, nothing makes one so vain as being told that one is a sinner. Conscience makes egotists of us all. Yes; there is really no end to the consolations that women find in modern life. Indeed, I have not mentioned the most important one.”
"What is that, Harry?" said the lad listlessly.
"Oh, the obvious consolation. Taking some one else's admirer when one loses one's own. In good society that always whitewashes a woman. But really, Dorian, how different Sibyl Vane must have been from all the women one meets! There is something to me quite beautiful about her death. I am glad I am living in a century when such wonders happen. They make one believe in the reality of the things we all play with, such as romance, passion, and love."
"I was terribly cruel to her. You forget that."
"I am afraid that women appreciate cruelty, downright cruelty, more than anything else. They have wonderfully primitive instincts. We have emancipated them, but they remain slaves looking for their masters, all the same. They love being dominated. I am sure you were splendid. I have never seen you really and absolutely angry, but I can fancy how delightful you looked. And, after all, you said something to me the day before yesterday that seemed to me at the time to be merely fanciful, but that I see now was absolutely true, and it holds the key to everything."
"What was that, Harry?"
"You said to me that Sibyl Vane represented to you all the heroines of romance — that she was Desdemona one night, and Ophelia the other; that if she died as Juliet, she came to life as Imogen."
"She will never come to life again now," muttered the lad, burying his face in his hands.
"No, she will never come to life. She has played her last part. But you must think of that lonely death in the tawdry dressing-room simply as a strange lurid fragment from some Jacobean tragedy, as a wonderful scene from Webster, or Ford, or Cyril Tourneur. The girl never really lived, and so she has never really died. To you at least she was always a dream, a phantom that flitted through Shakespeare's plays and left them lovelier for its presence, a reed through which Shakespeare's music sounded richer and more full of joy. The moment she touched actual life, she marred it, and it marred her, and so she passed away. Mourn for Ophelia, if you like. Put ashes on your head because Cordelia was strangled. Cry out against Heaven because the daughter of Brabantio died. But don't waste your tears over Sibyl Vane. She was less real than they are."
There was a silence. The evening darkened in the room. Noiselessly, and with silver feet, the shadows crept in from the garden. The colours faded wearily out of things.
After some time Dorian Gray looked up. "You have explained me to myself, Harry," he murmured with something of a sigh of relief. "I felt all that you have said, but somehow I was afraid of it, and I could not express it to myself. How well you know me! But we will not talk again of what has happened. It has been a marvellous experience. That is all. I wonder if life has still in store for me anything as marvellous."
"Life has everything in store for you, Dorian. There is nothing that you, with your extraordinary good looks, will not be able to do."
"But suppose, Harry, I became haggard, and old, and wrinkled? What then?"
"Ah, then," said Lord Henry, rising to go, "then, my dear Dorian, you would have to fight for your victories. As it is, they are brought to you. No, you must keep your good looks. We live in an age that reads too much to be wise, and that thinks too much to be beautiful. We cannot spare you. And now you had better dress and drive down to the club. We are rather late, as it is."

WANTED! FC can be changed!
Name: Celia Molly Matthews Age: 23 Sexuality: Up to Player Gender: Female Portrayed By: Crystal Reed Availability: Open
“Everything seemed to be so good, but now it’s all black again.”
→ Background
A girl born and bred in Baberton, just like her brothers. As the youngest, Celia, who’s always preferred to go by her middle name Molly, always had to try and be better, faster and braver than them. She always aspired to be the best in everything and usually she made it. She was quite smart and got through school just fine, never had any problems with any of her classes and was the pride of her parents. Molly used to have a lot of friends but unfortunately none of them really lived in Baberton. In her old classes, no one really seemed to understand her. No one understood when she was quoting a good book or making some intellectual joke. So she decided to go through Baberton more or less alone. At the weekends she was usually in Bridgefield, the next town over, meeting with friends who really understood her and she makes sure that they would meet up regularly. Molly always got along with Eric the best of her siblings. He was a lot like her in personality and family values, unlike Alex who, while looked more like her, was just trouble for the family. And sometimes she thinks that it’s much better that he’s gone, although sometimes she thinks it would be nice to sit at a full family table for dinner. She knows how exhausting and mean her parents can be. They had money and did everything to protect that so she knew dating any old guy wasn’t an option. But she recently decided to go out with Ron Hall. She liked him a lot, and she thought he got her. But since her parents wouldn’t approve she just keeps it under the wraps. She’s much happier this way and she knows that maybe Ron isn’t the one but he’s a nice distraction anyway. Molly aspires to be a lawyer just like her father, to carry on the family name and does the best she can in all of her classes. She can be very feisty but she’s clever with it. Usually, she just wants peace in her life. Annie Pierce usually stayed off her radar. Molly was more than happy with that. She didn’t like the girl, especially since she treated her brother so badly. But she never had the strength to stand up to Annie. She gave her and her clique a wide berth. For Molly, it wasn’t all Annie. A leader would be nothing without their followers and, even if her friends changed and been through a lot, she can’t find sympathy for them.
→ Back to Baberton
When she found out that Eric was kidnapped and supposedly killed by the psycho who’d been terrorising the streets, she was depressed for weeks. She didn’t leave her room and never wanted to speak to anyone. She was sick of what was happening in this town. She’d never thought she would feel like any of the families that this had happened to and she’d been grateful, but when Eric was gone it felt like her world fell into pieces. And when Alex turned up again she was furious. How dare he come now? Molly didn’t want him here and she made no secret of it. All she wanted was justice for her brother… or for him to come back. She knew Alex would fail at whatever he was trying to do. He wasn’t someone with a clear mind and he was never the brightest either. She didn’t talk to him when she could help it. When Eric reappeared again, memories gone but alive, Molly was overjoyed. He was here! Eric could remember nothing from what happened but… as long as he was alive then everything would be okay, right? Molly stuck to him like glue through everything.. the slow return of his memories and the disintegration of his engagement to Nikki Clayworth (who she’d liked with Eric even less than she’d liked Imogen Ford, so she is glad that’s pretty much over now). No one will really be good enough for her brother in her eyes and, even though she’s the youngest, Molly is insanely protective of him. She’d been prepared to do whatever she had to do to stop the wedding but she’s just pleased she doesn’t have to go to the effort, even if it means Eric had to be hurt by their brother Alex, who caught Nikki’s attention while Eric was assumed dead. Better by Alex then by her, she can’t lose her brother again, it would ruin her.
→ What’s Her Secret?
Is insanely superstitious. She believes in black cats and ladders and scares herself with it from time to time. She’s read all about it and even though she has a realistic mind she tries to find solutions she can’t find to explain with the supernatural. She has a feeling that all of the deaths are the cause of an angry Annie Pierce ghost taking her anger out on the townspeople. But of course she wouldn’t say this out loud to anyone.
She’s keeping her relationship with Ronald Hall a secret because she knows that her father would never approve and neither would her mother. The two are very protective (overly so, quite often) and Molly wants to avoid the drama. Even if Ron isn’t the one, she doesn’t want the fallout because she’s seen what’s happened with Eric’s relationships when their parents got involved.
Though she’s seeing Ron, Molly recently kissed Becky on a night out. She isn’t quite sure what it means and is pretty sure her parents would approve less than Ronald so she’s keen to keep it a secret - but she wouldn’t mind kissing her again.

BLACK DIAMOND CUP REPORT
By Coach Nathan Harkness
Finally back on our home deck we hosted KIllarney Vale on yet another beautiful day in Cardiff. With the side not quite settled yet, we again had many changes. Special mention to Dave Graan returning for 2017 and Zac Moore playing his first 1st grade game for Cardiff FC.
It took 5 seconds to kick our first goal. Simon O'Brien's fast centre clearence and kicking the ball deep into our forward 50, ending up with Dave Graan running into an open goal. This was the start we were looking for, but the rest of the first quarter was a bit of an arm wrestle and in a close contest we only kicked three goals to KIllarney Vale one goal. By half-time the game had opened up with Simon O'Brien,Marcus DeLeur, Matt Vukovich, Nick Chapman, Brandt Job and Tom Yensch combining in the middle with plenty of delivery to our forwards with Cam Jones kicking 4 goals in the first half.
The second half was much the same as the second quarter and we powered away with the final winning margin being 97 points. Zac Metcalf continues his outstanding form with restricting KIllarney Vale's coach Scott Reed to only 2 goals and also creating plenty of rebounds out of defence. Lenny Pratt has started to gather some solid form and looks very settled playing the small defender role. In patches the midfield and half back line connected better with our forwards which enabled the forwards to finish off the some positive ball movement with Tom Quade, Aaron Wivell, Cam Jones, Beau Heeney Dave Graan and Brandt Job all kicking multiple goals.
Final Score:
Cardiff Hawks 21.18.144 Killarney Vale 6.11.47
Best Players:
Z. Metcalfe, S. O'Brien, T. Quade, T. Yensch, M. DeLeur, C. Jones.
Goal Kickers:
T. Quade 5, A. Wivell 4, C. Jones 4, D. Graan 2, B. Job 2, J. Lennon, S. O''Brien, B. Heeney, C. Mayo.
RESERVE GRADE REPORT
By Captain Tony Edser
The Hawks returned to the nest after a gallant effort last week against Terrigal. Killarney Vale came into the game up and about after recording 3 wins to start their season. The game started well for the bombers who kicked the first major and controlled the game for the first 10 minutes.
Josh Murphy got the Hawks on the score board after a strong mark and spectacular set shot from the boundary. This was the first of 7 goals for J Murph who played his strongest game of the season. A strong midfield performance from Jesse “Rory Smith” Coombes, Miles Petersen, and Andrew Walker ensured the Hawks finished the half in front despite not taking advantage of inside 50’s and overall possession.
The third quarter for the Hawks was more pedestrian than the over 90’s 100m sprint. No intensity, no commitment, or accountability. This was reflected on the scoreboard at ¾ time as a health lead turned into a level game. Tom Lashlie took the game by the horns and ensured the Hawks recorded a win at the nest. His best on ground was a great display especially in the fourth quarter changing the momentum of the game. Lots to work on, but we are heading in the right direction.

Final Score:
Cardiff Hawks 15.15.105 Killarney Vale 9.12.66
LADY HAWKS REPORTBy Coach Paul Cooksley
A beautiful day greeted the players at Hillsborough oval for their encounter with Kilarney Vale. A few outs saw a few positional changes, with Mollie Palmer starting in the midfield and Imogen Mahony coming in on the wing. Sarah Dodds was a welcome in, starting on the halfback flank. A strong start from the hawks wasn’t quite enough as the bombers took an early lead with 2 goals to lead, 13- 1 at the first break.
[caption id="attachment_700" align="aligncenter" width="449"]

The second quarter was a very contested affair with both teams hard at the foot. The hawks defense was under the pump with Faith Lewis and Iesha Veness repelling raids with solid defensive work abley supported by midfielders Jess Day, Apryl Baily and Mollie Palmer who flooded back well to help the defense out. A weight of possession and field position to the bombers proved too much and we went to the main break 22-1 down, which was a very good result given the amount of time the ball was in our defensive 50.
Nothing much changed in the third quarter with good, hard, contested footy. Our ruck duo Jade and Madi Ryan kept toiling hard as they continue to build their reputation as formidable rucks. Sam Kelly is proving valuable up forward with good communication skills and willingness to put blocks on defenders, enabling our forwards that little bit more time to settle. Sara Gilbert scored to send the hawks to the final break down 41-7.
The fourth quarter would prove what a bunch of fighters we have on our hands here. Again the defense were under pressure but our back 6 werent giving in. Cat Reed was giving her opponent nothing and the mids continued to push back and help out. Despite being down on rotation and behind on the scoreboard our Lady Hawks finished the game with their best quarter, scoring 2 goals and conceding just one. It was a quarter full of courage and I am so proud of the way we finished the game off. I don’t think the scoreboard reflected our efforts on the day and I look forward to the next game knowing we are always going to give 100% effort.
Special mention to Nicola Walker, Apryl Baily, Sarah Dodds, Jess Day, Mollie Palmer, Iesha Veness, Deb Carlin, Jade Ryan and Madi Ryan.
Final Score:
Cardiff Hawks 3.2.20 Killarney Vale 7.7.49

IF YOU HAVEN’T PLAYED THE FIRST BIOSHOCK, THERE ARE SPOILERS IN THIS FANMIX (just a warning XD)
1960. Your name is Jack. You're the only survivor in a plane crash in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Surprisingly, you find yourself near a curious tower jutting out of the water. You wade over, climb inside and find yourself in a sprawling underwater city, complete with clubs, apartments, factories and leaks. What was this place created for? Who created it? Why? How? It's a technical marvel, why hasn't it been all over the news? These are the questions you are searching for answers to, until more questions materialize, that is. Such as "Who is Atlas and why am I helping him?", "Why is my hand seething fire, insects and electricity?", "Why are these gigantic robots suddenly out for my head?" and "Oh dear god, why is that little girl chugging the red fluid she just needled out of that corpse?" Society here has collapsed, the people have gone absolutely out of their minds, everyone is jacked up on plasmids and now you're stuck in the middle of it. Welcome to Rapture.
Fanmix on Playmoss!: https://playmoss.com/en/hexterah/playlist/would-you-kindly-a-bioshock-fanmix (a couple of the songs won’t play on PM cause of the companies that have their music blocked -- they can be found on the actual youtube site though, if you wanted to hunt down the songs under the cut that the playlist skips~)
